one thing I keep thinking about which I’m not really seeing anyone mentioning is… you can’t really say no to the Metatron?
like I know Aziraphale wants to still believe that heaven is the side of good, that he can make a difference to make it really, properly Good (the definition of good he believes it’s supposed be and that has been corrupted by poor management) but I mean… he can’t just say no to the Metatron
(Gabriel did it and look where that got him, even if Aziraphale doesn’t know the whole story)
We even see Aziraphale make that attempt (“but I don’t want to go back to heaven”) and the Metatron breezes right past him; Aziraphale does not have a choice in this matter— he is Going to Heaven. Metatron isn’t convincing him, he’s Telling him, even if he seems merry and cajoling and congratulatory as he does it.
From Aziraphale’s expression as he walks away to tell Crowley the “good news”, it’s pretty obvious to me that he’s not nearly as excited about the prospect of inviting Crowley back to Heaven as he seems to be in the following scene (thank you Michael Sheen’s face journey for this). He’s not happy, he’s worried, and he’s deciding what the Hell he’s going to say to Crowley to get him to come with him.
Michael’s acting in the next scene seals it for me— Aziraphale is giddy, off-kilter, and over the top when he tells Crowley what happened. More so than he has any indication of being just moments before. Aziraphale knows he can’t just decide not to go back to Heaven— it’s a done deal. The Metatron wants him Upstairs, and saying no to the Metatron is a no-go because the Metatron is Dangerous
I think Aziraphale knows Crowley isn’t going to be amenable to going back to heaven, but he also knows this is the only chance he has to get Crowley to come with him. He’s acting so giddy because he has to convince Crowley— and convince himself— that this is something they can do together, because he certainly doesn’t want to do it without Crowley.
Unfortunately, Crowley would never go back to Heaven, which of course the Metatron knew. And Crowley only sees that Aziraphale wants to go back, not that he has no other choice.

love that aziraphale is, in fact, a terrible fucking liar, but continously gets away with the most insane shit throughout history because either a) he's an angel so everyone figures he can't/wouldn't lie or b) EVERYONE can tell he's lying but they don't have enough evidence to do anything about it so they have to just exchange snide glances and/or send their most annoying interns over to bother him until they get something

soooo i've been real busy this past month and change working on this monster of a painting! it was originally for the GO Ref library study club but clearly took much longer than i anticipated😅
for those of you who don't recognize it, this is based on one of my favorite historical paintings, Judith Beheading Holofernes (1620) by Artemisia Gentileschi. i love the Baroque period and this painting (as well as her other works) makes me insane. here it is Good Omens style so maybe all of you can be insane with me <3
"Aziraphale (and Crowley) Beheading the Metatron"
(non-bloody and non-glowy versions under the cut)

i do not care how they make it happen but aziraphale and crowley deserve tenderness in s3. Not necessarily another kiss but just… az putting his hand on crowley’s neck as they look at each other, crowley being allowed to run their fingers through the angel’s hair, sitting together on the sofa with crowley’s head in az’s lap, az calling crowley ‘darling’ or ‘my dear’, crowley bringing their angel flowers, they deserve the opportunity to show the other how much they love them

Guys I’ve made a breakthrough
(I’ll add more gifs later just- bear with me for a second)
Crowley didn’t fall in love in the beginning, no. He fell in love when he and Aziraphale were in Job’s cellar. Let me explain
So we all know Crowley is describing how he fell in love when he talks about making Maggie and Nina fall in love under an awning
We all thought it was referencing the first scene in the beginning where Aziraphale covers him with his wing as the first rainstorm approaches
But if you stop to think about it, you realise it’s only Crowley is under the awning, in this case Aziraphale’s wing. And they don’t face eachother. AND it’s not actually raining yet.
They’re side by side yes, but only Crowley won’t get wet, since Aziraphale can’t physically get under his own wing. (Unless magical shenanigans but yeah)
That’s why I think he’s referring to the first time they "ate" together.
Think about it, he talks about a "sudden downpour" and I don’t know about you but the storm that unleashes on Job’s house (is it even his house??) seems extremely sudden and violent to me.
And if you compare it to the way he makes the rain happen for Nina and Maggie, I think you’ll find it’s very similar
And I mean it makes so much sense! Just think about how much he loves watching Aziraphale eat! It was the first time he saw him eat, and they looked into each other’s eyes.
Ever since then he’s been madly in love.

Good omens has given me the great ability to reconnect every song I listen to to Aziraphale and Crowley, in every way possible and I could talk about it for hours

Aziraphale has picked up a lot of hobbies and interests and knowledge throughout the years, he's pretty much a quilted patchwork of skills. He does a lot of things Angels don't really do like dance, bake, drive a car, draw etc. And he's got a skill for those things and Aziraphale is also interested in learning French despite being able to speak every language and magic despite being able to miracle the impossible, and he's terrible at them. In a weird way he's Bad at things he's Inherently Good at and he's Good at things he's not Inherently Good at. Like how he's supposed to be Inherently Good as an Angel but messes up a lot when it comes to it. Did I make sense
