DAENERYS APPRECIATION MONTH 2022
Day 12: The Unsullied
"Spears!" Dany heard one Astapori shout. It was Grazdan, old Grazdan in his tokar heavy with pearls. "Unsullied! Defend us, stop them, defend your masters! Spears! Swords!"
When Rakharo put an arrow through his mouth, the slaves holding his sedan chair broke and ran, dumping him unceremoniously on the ground. The old man crawled to the first rank of eunuchs, his blood pooling on the bricks. The Unsullied did not so much as look down to watch him die. Rank on rank on rank, they stood.
And did not move. The gods have heard my prayer.
[...] "Dracarys!" they shouted back, the sweetest word she'd ever heard. "Dracarys! Dracarys!"

When she had commanded the Unsullied to choose officers from amongst themselves, Grey Worm had been their overwhelming choice for the highest rank. Dany had put Ser Jorah over him to train him for command, and the exile knight said that so far the young eunuch was hard but fair, quick to learn, tireless, and utterly unrelenting in his attention to detail.
[....] One of the first things Dany had done after the fall of Astapor was abolish the custom of giving the Unsullied new slave names every day. Most of those born free had returned to their birth names; those who still remembered them, at least. Others had called themselves after heroes or gods, and sometimes weapons, gems, and even flowers, which resulted in soldiers with some very peculiar names, to Dany's ears. Grey Worm had remained Grey Worm. When she asked him why, he said, "It is a lucky name. The name this one was born to was accursed. That was the name he had when he was taken for a slave. But Grey Worm is the name this one drew the day Daenerys Stormborn set him free."

"My queen," replied the captain, "your servant Stalwart Shield had no duty last night. He had gone to a … a certain place … to drink, and have companionship."
[...] "Even those who lack a man's parts may still have a man's heart, Your Grace," said Grey Worm. "This one has been told that your servant Stalwart Shield sometimes gave coin to the women of the brothels to lie with him and hold him." - A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys I

Dany assembled her council to hear them. Grey Worm was there for the Unsullied, [...]

And the king's protectors grew fewer every day. Hizdahr's blunder with Grey Worm had cost him the Unsullied. When His Grace had tried to put them under the command of a cousin, as he had the Brazen Beasts, Grey Worm had informed the king that they were free men who took commands only from their mother.

Before midday a dozen fires were burning. Columns of greasy black smoke rose up to stain a merciless blue sky. Dany's riding clothes were stained and sooty as she stepped back from the pyres. "Worship," Grey Worm said, "this one and his brothers beg your leave to bathe in the salt sea when our work here is done, that we might be purified according to the laws of our great goddess."
The queen had not known that the eunuchs had a goddess of their own.
"Who is this goddess? One of the gods of Ghis?"
Grey Worm looked troubled. "The goddess is called by many names. She is the Lady of Spears, the Bride of Battle, the Mother of Hosts, but her true name belongs only to these poor ones who have burned their manhoods upon her altar. We may not speak of her to others. This one begs your forgiveness."
"As you wish. Yes, you may bathe if that is your desire. Thank you for your help."
"These ones live to serve you."

A Game of Thrones, Daenerys I
Their palanquin was stopped at the gate, the curtains pulled roughly back by one of the house guards. He had the copper skin and dark almond eyes of a Dothraki, but his face was hairless and he wore the spiked bronze cap of the Unsullied. He looked them over coldly.
Magister Illyrio growled something to him in the rough Dothraki tongue; the guardsman replied in the same voice and waved them through the gates.
Dany noticed that her brother’s hand was clenched tightly around the hilt of his borrowed sword. He looked almost as frightened as she felt. “Insolent eunuch,” Viserys muttered as the palanquin lurched up toward the manse.
Magister Illyrio’s words were honey. “Many important men will be at the feast tonight. Such men have enemies. The khal must protect his guests, yourself chief among them, Your Grace. No doubt the Usurper would pay well for your head.”
“Oh, yes,” Viserys said darkly. “He has tried, Illyrio, I promise you that. His hired knives follow us everywhere. I am the last dragon, and he will not sleep easy while I live.”

daenerys targaryen is waaay better than me, because the moment the north would started throwing shade at my crew, I'm out.
you don't like them? whatever, not everyone has a good taste. but give them some respect.
boo-hoo poor sansa, how we're gonna feed them? I DON'T THINK THAT SHOULD BE YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM SINCE THE DEAD ARMY IS COMING. 1. you feed them, 2. you kick dead asses, 3. daenerys gives food from the rest of westeros to the north, in that order, is that simple. "what the dragons eat anyway?" mmm I don't know, maybe meat?? maybe not your problem?? 15 minutes and those dragons will be far away, they'll catch a snack and get back. btw that will give you enough time to inform like 47, 48 persons about secrects you should keep your mouth shut.
all sansa did was "we can't give daenerys the north, we don't need her", okay honey, give me better idea.
those people were that arrogant that they rather reject dany's help AND DIE instead of acknowledge they need her, her army and dragons and the fact she's rightful queen. interesting that sansa or none of the women living there said "hey, you know, send daenerys away, I'm gonna fight for winterfell", they just decided to show how much they despise her and hide in the crypts while dany was risking her life for theirs ungrateful asses.
I would be out in SECONDS. no, even more, instead of talking with jon "please, just bend the knee, man", I'd kill cersei, take the iron throne, make my army bigger, produce more weapon, keep my THREE dragons alive and get ready for dead army. you don't wanna bend the knee, you don't wanna be part of the seven kingdoms? fine, fight with night king's army alone, good luck with that. any person from common people is very welcome in my lands of sIX kIngDoMs under my protection, maybe i'd send them on some island or whatever but most of the northenders, men, their lords, ladies (SANSA AND LYANNA I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU), king etc can die at their own request.
"they didn't trust daenerys, they trusted jon" if they trusted him that much , why didn't they trust him that he made right decision bending the knee to daenerys? funny enough most of those people didn't know jon personally, the same as they didn't know daenerys. all they knew was what they heard about them and what in those stories were bad about dany? about merciful queen who uses her power to save common people, slaves? bunch of racist, xenophobic, biased assholes.
sansa wanted to leave the north since she was a little girl, now you want it back? fine, then fight for it. not expect that someone will do it for you and then make you a queen (what literally happened). knights of the vale fought on littlefinger's order, dothraki and unsullied for daenerys, north for NED'S STARK CHILDREN, not you personally sweetie, you didn't do a shit for them.
daenerys was sooo calm when everyone were praising arya and jon for what they did in the battle ("OMG JON RODE THE DRAGON", hmmm only bc dany let him to and dude barely could do it) I'D BE FURIOUS
"winterfell is your, your grace" ok sweetie, you know what, nevermind, I'm out. with that attitude you can stop night king by yourself, see yaaaa... or not

A Game of Thrones, Eddard II
“Some pox-ridden Pentoshi cheesemonger had her brother and her walled up on his estate with pointy-hatted eunuchs all around them, and now he’s handed them over to the Dothraki.
“I should have had them both killed years ago, when it was easy to get at them, but Jon was as bad as you. More fool I, I listened to him.”
“Jon Arryn was a wise man and a good Hand.”
Robert snorted. The anger was leaving him as suddenly as it had come. “This Khal Drogo is said to have a hundred thousand men in his horde. What would Jon say to that?”
“He would say that even a million Dothraki are no threat to the realm, so long as they remain on the other side of the narrow sea,” Ned replied calmly. “The Dothraki have no ships. They hate and fear the open sea.”
The king shifted uncomfortably in his saddle. “Perhaps. There are ships to be had in the Free Cities, though.”
