my cool down doodle yesterday ended up becoming….a little more than just a doodle when I took the chance to experiment a little stylistically. Whoops?

anyhoo, this is a doodle from the mind of @goddammitjim, who wrote a codywan les mis actors au fic. The description of Cody watching Obi-Wan sing Bring Him Home (conveniently my favorite song) on opening night (ch 10) has been stuck in my mind since I read it, and I’ve wanted to doodle codywan again so….here we are!!

Meowdred got forcibly immigrated from Doma to Thanalan when he was a baby on account of being STOLEN by a merchant who "really wanted a child". Only for her to die when they got to Vesper Bay and the "best friend" she made promise to take care of him ran out of patience with a baby once they reached Ul'dah and put him in an orphanage.

He wasn't aware of how exactly a foreigner like him ended up across the ocean until much later in life, when he got big and famous with the last name "Surana" -- the name of the temple/orphanage he was left at, and the kidnapper's best friend who abandoned him put 2 and 2 together, because come on now how many Far Eastern person could have borne that name, then be around the age he dropped him at?

And the guy showed up to the Rising Stones asking for money.

Tataru kicked him out with incandescent fury because Mordred wasn't around at the time. He was in Doma post-Stormblood putting the Kienkan back together. So he came back like "Tataru!!! I got family!!! Did you know I have blood family in Doma?!?!?" and Tataru replied that she did know. And that he got kidnapped.

He never bothered looking for this guy again because he didn't know what the man looked like anyway, and if Tataru made him leave, the bastard was probably so frightened for his life he probably changed his name and left the country.

But even now, Mordred was more Eorzean than he would ever be Doman. And the feeling was especially stark when he was in Doma, where outwardly he looked like a native but in language, behavior, philosophy, he was worse than a foreigner.

His blood-brother, half-brother, also resented his late yet transformative arrival to the stage. While it didn't last long and there were apologies because it wasn't rational, said brother did tell Mordred to his face, "You are a stranger to us. You are not Doman."

The whole Kienkan and Hien got mad with that brother over it who did later apologize because he realized he fucked up, but the damage was already sort of done.

To this day, Mordred would usually stay in the Ruby Sea area or Kugane rather than go to Doma unless he was visiting his adoptive dad, and spent more of his time in Ala Mhigo than anywhere else after the Kienkan was fixed up.

#meowdred surana #he used to hunt for far eastern items in the markets of ul'dah and limsa lominsa #to try and find some more material connection between himself and this place he was told he came from yet hadn't seen himself #now he didn't bother to anymore because a) he could get it anytime in actual kugane or doma anyway #and b) after all the places he had been and every struggle he'd assisted with a single place of professed 'belonging' feels cheap #but the real real truth was that mordred got subjected to the shitty experience of being displaced at a very young age then coming back #only to be told he doesn't fit in and that hurts because it's true and it came from someone who he didn't know well #but was related to him by blood and so was one of the connections mordred had thought was lost to him all his life #and then he said THAT #he doesn't hate toshimori -- his brother -- or anything and who had said sorry several times now and tried in fact to make up for it #but there are some things once spoken you can no longer pretend is not true or real #and so cannot return to

I hope whatever people's personal thoughts end up being about the book and whatever media storms come, I hope it has brought Harry a level of peace and contentment sharing life, in his words.

les mis 25th anniversary concert my BELOVED. every time I forget just how good it is, especially the finale.

it's a GOOD shot in the dark!! and if I was ranking musicals it would have been right at the top, and even if I was ranking, like, albums in general it would probably have made the top twenty, but the movie version(s) doesn't quite live up to Les Mis' full potential!! do love the 2012 Tom Hooper movie despite all the hate, and it does make me cry every time. but not on the list!

"You mean in-person or over a computer call?" Truth be told, it had been quite a while since their last 'family check-in' with the rest of her mother's side of the family. An erratic schedule made locking in a time or day very difficult, for both Jayden and her mother.

"Sometimes we do video chats around the holidays, but most of the time we don't keep in much contact. Mom always wants to gush to Gigi about the places I've been going to for work or showing off my newscasts and community stories." It's a bit embarrassing every time, but Jayden couldn't complain. At least Gigi enjoyed seeing her granddaughter succeed.
