The Owl House: Unsolved Mysteries

Why does Jacob have a witch's training wand? Who did the Bat Queen belong to? Where did the Owl Beast come from? What happened to Caleb and Evelyn? WHAT IS HOOTY?

EDIT: By “unsolved” I mean we never got onscreen canon explanation for any of them.

Okay so I haven’t really seen any discussion on this topic but...

The Owl Beast was/is DEFINITELY supposed to be another Titan, right?

Like we know they were captured by another Archivist, and we learn from the Collector that the Archivists were ESPECIALLY interested in the Titans.

And most notably, does anyone else get the sense that there are meant to be MAJOR similarities between King and Eda when they both go berserk after Luz is disintegrated?

Like the way they’re drawn here CLEARLY feels like this is meant to be King’s and Eda’s own versions of the same ‘rage-mode’. Essentially, Eda/the Owl Beast is a different KIND of Titan, but still A Titan.

Finally, like I discussed in my ‘Luz keeping her Titan form’ post, Eda turning out to be part-Titan herself works as a perfect symbolic affirmation of how she’s become King’s mom.

Strength: Eda Reconciling with the Owl Beast

Upright: Inner strength, courage, bravery, compassion, confidence, inner power, persuasion, influence

Reversed: Self-doubt, weakness, vulnerability, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, feelings of inadequacy, raw emotions

The Strength card represents one’s inner strength and willpower. It means you have the confidence, compassion, and composure needed to overcome any challenges coming your way. Strength indicates that you need to approach a situation from a place of forgiveness, understanding, and love. It urges you to tame your animal instincts and channel your raw emotions like fear, anger, sadness, shame, or guilt into a more constructive response to distress.

Eda has struggled her whole life due to her curse, and is rightfully angry and resentful toward the Owl Beast for everything it has cost her. She lost her magic, isolated herself from everyone she cared about, and grew to believe everyone left her because she was unworthy of companionship. But when she gets the opportunity to confront the beast in Knock Knock Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door, she realizes that it, too, was wronged in being turned into her curse. Only when she recognizes the beast’s suffering can she put aside her own fears and frustrations to approach it with gentleness and compassion, accepting it as part of herself; and in doing so, gaining access to a power unique to herself derived from her own strength of spirit.
