I agree with you so much on hsh being his 1989. Both 1989 and HsH got them the fame/appreciation that Red/FL never did despite it being superior art. Both of them made it sonically cohesive because their previous album was criticised for sound. The albums were commercially successful but that resulted in their overexposure that made me feel disconnected(its me,hi I'm the disconnect anon)Holivia was everywhere the way tayvin was in 1989.To me FL was therapy in a record. Golden made me forget about the bad things and focus on good things.WS made me yell from top of my lungs. Falling made me embrace the pain and FL gave me strength with 'we'll be alright '. Hsh couldn't give me that. Plus both hsh and 1989 is happy pop disguised with sad lyrics
hi disconnect anon bb <333 right, you completely understand what i mean by that. it doesn't mean the more successful/popular records aren't also great as their own things, they are, but for me there's a difference in connection and empathy/meaning in them as whole pieces. and the pitfalls of major success and initially fun popularity unfortunately come along due to the glare of that spotlight often turning harsh. i'd imagine it's difficult to find your bearings in it and that results in a certain distance from artists themselves too. (and yeah, the omnipresence of the relationships and the fallout are also similar.) the deceptive sound of both 1989 and harry's house too, exactly - they're shiny and upbeat, they're far more sonically cohesive, but quite a bit of both records is very sad/lonely/damaged underneath if you only note the words, even though hsh does have radiant warm/homey vibes to me too. fine line narratively works for me so much like red does (it's no wonder why i love both albums dearly) - beginning at that beautiful moment (this is the golden age of something good, and right, and real) but having worries underneath (you're my achilles' heel/i know that you're scared because i'm so open), the exhilaration of being in love and continuing to fall until it becomes a bone crushing crash, hurting and asking how everything could go so wrong, then slowly surfacing and finding your way again, trying to heal and start anew. and the fact that they do that with ups and downs of melody and with varying genre experimentation. it hit me hard when fine line first came out and i hear it every time. they both give me such a rare feeling. To me FL was therapy in a record. same. it IS therapeutic, and pieces of art that affect us in that way make such a real difference to us.

a winnix! found family au with easy company as kids part one out of a million!!
hi, hello! i’m back on my bullshit again. the creativity train had once stopped at my brain. I may have a thousand wip’s but tonight I’ve decided to focus solely on this one. also a ton of credit to @apairofwingsforme for rambling with me about this idea, thanks buddy! anyways, my mind is literally a terrifying place 😁 please send help. i’m literally at my breaking point
Also this is part one out of..a lot! I wanna write a fic of this, but school is a bitch. This is just winnix at the moment, but I promise I’ll start talking about easy company as kids and how chaotic it is. Literally. Child! Luz is going to be a little monster. But hey, only seven more weeks!!
It's a modern au. Both dick and Lew have been married for seven years and are happier than ever.
Okay! But before the found family part, time for the backstory!
dick and lew both met in college when there were in the same intro to marketing class. dick was struggling in the class and absolutely despised Lew, who he stereotyped as a “typical New Yorker '' as Dick donned his bean boots and flannel shirts. However, Dick learned not to make assumptions about people. Their study sessions would turn into long conversations about the newest episode of Mad Men, their families in Lancaster and Manhattan, etc. Dick and Lew grew to be best friends.
Dick felt strange around Lew. He wanted to hate him, but he couldn't. He would catch himself staring at Lew for too long and a strange feeling in his stomach. Lew caught onto this, but said nothing. He was overthinking it. Dick was the poster catholic boy with his outfits head to toe from LL Bean, carried a tiny bible in his backpack, etc. Lew knew Dick was too good for him. Besides, there was no way he would be gay.
One thing led to another and the complicated relationship between Dick and Lew changed. Dick had sworn off alcohol, but had no idea that the orange juice was a screwdriver. Dick got intoxicated and Lew dragged him back to his dorm. Next thing he knew, Lew woke up, cuddled with Dick in his neat dorm room.
After that little incident, things became awkward. They were in their senior year; friends for four years and the awkward tension was high between them. After they graduated, there was an afterparty held at their old farneity. Dick, of course, had won vladicictroain and Lew won salutadorian (shockingly). Dick knew that if it wasn’t for Lew three years ago, he wouldn’t be where he is.
So in a little corner, Dick walked up to Nixon and gifted him an apple pie, fresh from The Winter’s farm in Lancaster, thanking him for all he’s done for him. Nixon smirked and knew that Dick would give him some pie, but he was still nice about it. He took Dick to his room and gave him cufflinks that he bought especially for Dick from Nordstrom because during their freshman year, Dick was in charge of planning events in their fraternity. It was movie night and in 2007, Casino Royale was all the hype. Nobody came to the movie night since there was a huge football game and party after. Dick sat there, popcorn all made and even pushed the coaches together, and nobody showed up. He considered just packing up and calling it a night until he heard the door slam open. As he was cleaning up, Dick ran right into Lew.
“Hi, hello. Sorry I’m late, I was busy doing...stuff.”
“Oh,” Dick would reply, “I was just packing up.”
“What movie?”
“Casino Royale. Nobody’s coming though.”
“Well, is the popcorn still hot?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, consider me your customer.”
Dick and Lew watched the movie. Lew never shuts up during the film. Dick talks ethier to tell Lew to be quiet or that he loves Daniel Craig’s cufflinks. Lew made a mental note of that.
The night of graduation, stuffed in Dick’s little dorm room, was the last time Dick and Lew ever saw each other. For a while, atleast. They had a heated makeuout session that followed with awkward but passionate sex. The next morning, it was a screaming match between Lew and Dick. Dick didn’t even remember what it was about-he was too upset. He simply finished packing, threw the stuff into the back of his subaru outback, and drove back to Lancaster.
Seven years flew by, and Dick and Lew hadn’t spoken a word. Both of them were no longer twenty two year old’s who had no idea what they were doing with their life-they were now twenty nine, both trying to figure out their lives.
Dick worked as an accountant in Philadelphia, Boston, Hartford, and jumped around the east coast. He didn’t really enjoy his job so he went back to Franklin and Marshall to become a History Teacher. He had been looking for work for some time and eventually found a teaching job at a boy’s school in Bronxville. It was a job, after all.
So Dick arrives in Bronoxville and gets an email. He recognizes the last time-it’s Lew. He heard about Dick moving and wanted to catch up. Dick was new to Bronoxville and as reluctant as he was, he agreed to meet with Lew.
Lew and Dick meet at Rosie’s, a nice little Italian restaurant in the middle of Bronoxville. Lew surprises Dick, and greets him with a “going my way?”. Lew looks different; he’s gotten more handsome with age, his hair is shorter but still unruly with a tint of gray, and there’s a good amount of stubble. He hasn’t changed one bit.
Their first meeting went well. Just like Dick, Lew had a rocky start after college. Lew had foolishly gotten married to some girl he had gone to boarding school with. They barely lasted a year, and Lew left the marriage with a child he had no custody with and a large penthouse in Tribeca. Life had been lonely. He worked as an economist for a while, but hated the job and quit. With no job and a failing marriage, Lew turned to one resort; alcohol. He had nobody and nothing left in life.
Dick could see the fire that was once in Lew slowly dying out. The once sarcastic and dry Lew became a self--deprecating and lonely man with too much money and time on his hands. Naturally, Dick pitied him. He could see that Lew still loved him-if he didn’t, then how did he find out about Dick moving to Bronxville? How did he find out about Dick’s new job? Why did Lew take Dick to the nicest restaurant in Bronxville. And still, even though seven years had gone by, Dick was still in love with Lew. He’d come up in his thoughts once and while, but now, when faced with him-it was hard to resist those old feelings.
Dick was worried about Lew. So being the Architect he is (mbti type wise, he’s an INTJ), he creates a plan. Lew comes down from the city to Bronxivlle on Fridays and they meet at Rosies. They catch up on their week. From court cases to annoying students, the little things that they share each make their day a little better.
Dick was well aware of Lew’s alcoholism. It was noticeable in college, but it seemed to have worsened as Lew got older. Dick encouraged Lewis to go to therapy. When things had gotten to the worst, Lew enrolled in rehab (all thanks to Dick). He saw the stubbornness in Dick and the clear frustration. Dick wasn’t one for emotions, but when he saw Lewis with a bloody forehead because he fell down the stairs, barely able to speak, Dick sobbed in the waiting room at the hospital. Lewis had never seen Dick ever be that emotional. He was hurt.
That’s when Lewis realized two things. One, he needed to fix himself. If he kept living this deductive lifestyle, he could end up dead. He didn’t want that. And Two, as much as he repressed it-he was still in love with Dick.
Lew finally deals with his issues, ranging from alcohol to his childhood trauma and abuse. It was all with the help of Dick. Dick was there for him every step on the way, playing the role as that supportive friend. Here they were, two thirty year olds. Lew would’ve never imagined being friends with a Quaker that was too good for him, but there he was.
One night, after they had dinner at Rosies, Dick and Lew go back to Dick’s tiny little colonial house. It’s not his house, but a shared apartment. It’s small, but it’s something. Lew is shocked by the living conditions, and Dick simply finds the place charming. They laugh, lock eyes, and next thing they know their lips are clashing together, rushing to take off their clothes as they fit onto Dick’s small bed.
Seven years later, they finally realize they're in love with each other and officially start dating. Dick moves to Lew’s apartment and they live there together for a while. Both getting sick of their lives in the city, Lew decides they need a break from the city and the states.
A year later, Lew proposes to Dick at Rosies, all thanks to the help of Anne Winters, Blanche, Kitty Gorgan, and Harry Welsh. Dick happily accepts, and yes; he sheds a tear. And so does Lew. Everybody sheds a solid tear; it’s a beautiful moment.
Three days before their wedding, Dick and Lew elope on the rooftop of their apartment complex. They invite the same people who helped Lewis propose to Dick. It’s a small and intimate ceremony. Their dance song is “Flightless Bird, American Mouth”. They wanted to get married without the big crowd and Lewis’s “rich jerk friends'' and “daddy’s money”.
For the next seven years, Dick and Lew travel the world. They live all over Europe. From London, To Austria, to Tokyo-they do it all. Dick always ends up sunburnt and Lew is always wearing his classic aviators, wanting to take a photo of Dick. Whenever they go to a new location, Lew always forces Dick to pose next to something, whether that be the La Fontana Dei Quattro Fiumi or the Tokyo tower, and then he sets the photo as his lock screen. Now THAT is romance right there.
Seven years of travel is a lot. Dick and Lew traveled back to the states once in a while for Holidays, but spent most of their time overseas. They are both now in their late thirties and a little exhausted from travel.
Whenever they go to a forgien country, Lew has a tendency to buy shot glasses from each country even though he’s sworn off drinking. I just want to imagine Lew, dragging Dick into a little chaka shop and being like “Oh look darling! Aren’t these adorable” and Dick would just sigh.
So after their final destination, Greece, Dick and Lew decide to retreat back to the states. They don’t wanna live in the city, so they choose to move to the quaint Lancaster. Dick mentioned that he and his friends used to go explore this abandoned farmhouse that wasn’t too far from where he used to live (about 20 mins). Lew wants to be a romantic so he decides to pay a whole lotta money to revinate the barn into a modern mansion. Here’s a picture for reference. Lew goes the extra mile and Dick is like “ *insert eye roll emoji* lew, were two people. Lew would give him a little kiss on the cheek, “and? I’m making room for the dogs.
Oh I should add that Lew officially retires (he has loads of money, it’s called inheritance baby!) while Dick considers it, but chooses not too. He chooses to live the peaceful life of a farmer.
OKAY, but here is the very juicy part
Reminder that there house is like...fucking huge. Like ridiculously big. Like there are so many rooms, and they are furnished. Like what is the point of having furnished rooms if you only have two people living in the house??
Also Lew and Dick adopt a whole armanda of dogs. If you want specifics, they have a collie named Lassie, two westie named Lovey and Duffer, A carin named Toto, Beethoven the St.Bernard, and Copper the hound dog. Oh-and that’s the start. So. Many. BUNNIES.
Dick knows Lew. He already has a child that he’s unfortunately not been able to raise since he barely has custody over his child. He seems to like his own dogs over his children. Dick doesn’t mind. Sure, he’s worked with kids, but he’s okay not having them. He does like his dogs, after all.
Harry, Dick and Lew’s best friend from college, doesn’t live far from them. He’s been married to his college sweetheart, Kitty, for five years. Together, they have a little son named Louie. Harry comes over a lot with Louie, and Louie plays with the dogs in the backyard. Dick’s a very observant person; he sees the relationship between Louie, the dogs, Lewis, and Harry. Lewis doesn’t mind Louie. Actually, he likes the kid. He’ll run around the backyard with Louie and their dog.
So Dick starts thinking about children. Maybe he’s changed his mind; maybe he wants a kid. One or two would be fine. It could be through adoption, help a family out or a kid who’s stuck in the system. Dick is like a mother when he wants to help others around him.
One night, Dick and Lew are sitting in bed. Did I mention all the dogs sleep in their bed. When shopping for furniture, Lew wanted to pick out a bed to fit all of the animals they were gonna have. Dick didn’t like the idea and made the dogs all sleep in their crates. But one night, Lew walked in on Dick snoring, lovey and dovey tucked right next to his stomach and feet. Lew once again, takes a photo, and shows it to Dick, who’s as red as a tomato.
Dick does a little sigh and Lew looks up from his book, his reading glasses slipping down his nose. He’d be like “oh, what is it now sweetheart?”
“We have such a big house, Lew. Twenty rooms and only two people live in the house-”
“Actually Six dogs and three rabbits. The dogs sleep with us and the rabbits...wherever they sleep.”
“Lew, I know you don’t like children but-”
Lew holds up Toto, who tilts her head. “But look at her! Yeah, you’re a good girl aren’t you? Daddy's little girl!”
“You love Louie-”
“Yeah, cause he’s not mine. He’s a nice kid. But children, especially teenagers, are the devils of this earth. You need to fear them, pay for them, do all kinds of stuff. With dog’s it’s easier.”
“I love our animals, but just one or two. We have so much space in the house. Help out a child who needs it. I know you don’t wanna admit it, but your great with kids-”
“Not my own. I don’t even know my own daughter. Kathy got married to some damn twink. How the hell do you think I’d be a good father?”
Dick gives him that *insert pouty emoji* look. “Just think about, Lew.”
So Lew actually thinks about. He walks around the house, feeling and seeing the quietness. They do have thousands of empty rooms and a little too much freetime on their hands. Plus, Lew hates the puppy eye stare Dick gives him.

The Boombox - a Dramione one-shot
https://archiveofourown.org/series/1751569
Hi! I’ve been part of the Dramione fandom since I was 13 but I’ve never written anything - this is my first attempt, ten years later. Let me know how I did!
This little one-shot is set in an AU, one year after the Second Wizarding War, where the surviving teenagers are given the option of coming back for an eighth year to complete their studies. The war criminals have been Obliviated (and are under strict observation) and all those found guilty of minor crimes have had mandatory therapy and thorough rehabilitation.
Eighth-year students have been given a seperate common room and dormitories to allow them privacy from the rest of the school.
xx Tina
Disclaimer: I don’t own Harry Potter.
It was 5 o’clock in the evening and the common room was half-filled. Several eighth-years were on their shifts to monitor their old house common rooms and patrol the hallways, Harry Potter and Ron  Weasley included.
Hermione Granger was sitting in an armchair. She was sitting incorrectly, Draco Malfoy observed from his seat on the sofa. Her back was resting against one arm and her legs were swung over the other. She was engrossed in a book, but when Seamus Finnigan set down a large contraption on the coffee table, both she and Draco snapped their heads in his direction.
“Oh my Gods, is that —?” Hermione stood up, walking over to Seamus.
“A boombox!” He looked at it proudly. “My da bought it for me! It’s charmed to work without electricity.”
Draco didn’t know what a boombox was, nor electricity, nor why Hermione Granger was so excited about the strange contraption.
“Do you have any cassettes to play?” She pushed a button and static fizzled out of the the box.
Seamus rifled through his trouser pocket and produced what Draco assumed was a cassette. By this time, everyone had gathered around. Draco watched as Hermione fiddled with the box and suddenly, music poured out of the machine. She jumped to her feet in joy.
“I love this song!”
“What is it?” Neville Longbottom asked. He was curious, having never seen a boombox, either.
“It’s a Muggle music player.” Seamus explained. “This is a Muggle song. It’s by one of the best Muggle bands in the world.”
“It’s the best band in the entire world, Seamus.” Hermione corrected, getting up from her crouched position. She addressed her fellow classmates. “It’s called ‘All My Loving’ and it’s by The Beatles.”
“Beetles?” Blaise Zabini gave Draco a funny look. The handful of students in the room who knew the song had gotten to their feet and started dancing with each other. The Slytherin students didn’t, obviously. Draco watched as Hermione grabbed Neville by the hands and pulled him over to a clear space to dance. Luna Lovegood was standing by the fireplace, wiggling her arms in the air, a distant look on her face. Draco had to admit that the song wasn’t terrible, and he found himself almost smiling when Neville dipped Hermione over his knee. Her face was pink and her curls touched the floor.
“Draco?” Pansy Parkinson tapped his shoulder. “Won’t you dance with me?” She looked nervous, but he knew she was trying to be amicable. She was making an attempt to be involved, like all the Slytherin students in their year. She had even let Ginny Weasley braid her hair the evening before.
“Uh,” Draco glanced back to the scene in front of him before tearing his eyes away to look at Pansy. He didn’t want to look like an idiot, but his rehabilitation officer told him to make a better effort in socialising. “Sure.”
They awkwardly tried to figure out how to dance to the Muggle song and were making little progress when someone touched Draco’s elbow. He turned, embarrassment flushing his face, to see Neville and Hermione smiling at him.
“Do you want us to show you?”
He could see Pansy swallowing her pride. She let go of Draco and took Neville’s hand. Draco was left with Hermione standing in front of him, looking at him expectantly. Just as he steeled himself to place a hand on her waist, the song changed. It was slower. He looked at the boombox, panicked. Hermione put one timid hand on his shoulder and the other into his free hand, forcing him to look at her.
“This one is called “Can’t Fight This Feeling”, she murmured, starting to move her feet. He followed her directions and tried very hard not to pay attention to her fuzzy cat socks or the lyrics of the song. Suddenly she twirled as the chorus began, and before long, he realised that he was leading. They were dancing.
He was dancing with Hermione Granger in front of everyone, to a love song.
“You’re doing great!” A voice broke his reverie and he looked at his dance partner, who shockingly seemed to be enjoying herself. For the first time since they met as first-years, he smiled at her sincerely. A laugh to his left made him look over to see Neville and Pansy dancing like they were the best of friends. It was odd. Oil and water mixing should have been more chaotic, but for whatever reason, coming back to Hogwarts to finish their studies was effortless. Maybe it was the fact that all the captured Death Eaters had been Obliviated, his father included. Maybe it was the desperation to cling to some normality after the previous year. Maybe it was people on both sides realising that enough of their loved ones had died. Whatever it was, Neville and Pansy were laughing and dancing in each others’ arms. As were Blaise and Ginny Weasley. As were he and Granger. He noticed that she was close enough for him to smell her shampoo. It was fruity. The music changed again.
Many times I tried to tell you
Many times I cried alone.
“Granger,” he spoke softly, barely audible over the sound of the music. Her eyes were glazed over, her gaze fixed on a button on his shirt. She looked up. He looked at the smattering of gold flecks in her brown eyes.
Always I'm surprised how well you cut my feelings to the bone
Don't want to leave you really.
“What is it?”
We belong to the light, we belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words we've both fallen under.
“Thank you.”
She smiled up at him, and he wondered why he spent so many years trying to make her cry.
“For what?”
Maybe it's a sign of weakness when I don't know what to say
Maybe I just wouldn't know what to do with my strength anyway.
“For teaching me how to dance.”
She just smiled again, and let go of his hand to place it on his shoulder. Automatically, he dropped his hand to her waist and suddenly, they were closer than before. Now he could actually feel the warmth coming off her body and he wondered how someone so full of life and light could bear to be so near to someone like him, someone so cold.
We belong to the light, we belong to the thunder
We belong to the sound of the words we've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace for worse or for better
We belong, we belong, we belong together.
His face must have conveyed the questions running through his head because she lifted a soft hand to his face, her palm against his jaw.
“Don’t think so hard, Draco.” His name tumbled out of her mouth so casually. Like they were friends. He shot a nervous glance at Pansy, who was plastered to Neville, swaying against him like she was drunk. Actually, she did look drunk. Drunk with happiness. Blaise had picked up Ginny and was spinning around. Luna had convinced Seamus to dance with her. Everyone was dancing. It dawned on Draco that they were all drunk on happiness. This was the first time they had done something carefree in months, maybe years. It was certainly the first time in a long time for him.
We can't begin to know it, how much we really care
I hear your voice inside me, I see your face everywhere.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for what I did.” The words were out before he could think. He gently clutched her arm. The raised lettering made him shudder and he focused on her with an intensity that made her blush.
“You didn’t do this.”
Whatever we deny or embrace for worse or for better
We belong, we belong, we belong together.
“Then I’m sorry for what I didn’t do.”
For standing by.
For not being brave.
For not saving her from Bellatrix.
For being a coward.
“You know,” she pulled his neck down and whispered into his ear, “I forgave you long ago. It’s over now. We’re fine, you and me.”
He reared back slightly, stunned. How could she? How could she forgive so easily? How could she let go of the pain and suffering that his side had caused her? Was it so easy for her? Was she so good?
“I don’t deserve it.”
His shoulders were tense and he knew she could feel it. Her hand found its way to his cheek, again, and he revelled in how the warmth could make his whole body feel warm. She continued to speak softly.
“Everyone is trying to move on, Draco. So many people died for us to be here today.” She lookee down at the carpet and he knew the dead were still haunting her. She looked up at him, again. “If I hadn’t forgiven you, they would have died in vain, and we would still be fighting. I don’t want to fight anymore, do you?”
He shook his head. He wondered if she had always been this wise. A know-it-all, yes, but wise? Perhaps he wasted so much of his effort on being cruel that he never stopped to think of how valid she was. A witch, more deserving of the title than most, and a good person with a heart of gold, he knew that to be true with no doubt in his mind.
“Thank you.” He absentmindedly tugged one of her curls and watched it bounce back to sit on her collarbone. “Thank you for everything. I don’t deserve it.”
She shrugged. “Thank you.”
“What do you me— why are you thanking me?”
“For letting me teach you how to dance.” She winked at him.
He offered her another smile and, suddenly unsure why his heart was beating so hard, dipped her as the song finished. She stood back up and laughed. It was a lovely sound, one he had never heard before. They weren’t dancing any more, just standing far too close to each other, still holding hands. Over her shoulder, he saw Weasley and Potter enter the room. Potter looked confused, the Weasel looked horrified. Before either of them could cause a scene, Draco bent down to brush his lips against Hermione’s knuckles and smiled, gratefully.
“Another time. Your friends are waiting for you. Goodnight, Hermione.”
Before she could say anything, he was walking away towards the male dormitory. She stood there, amazed at how warm he was, and how cold she felt without him holding her.
“Hermione, what the fuck were you doing?!”

uHm if you do these and if you want to do it I’d love a bnha matchup <3?
• my name is Aubri, I’m bi but prefer MHA boys tbh. I go by she/her, too.
• I’m a very Gryffindor person. (Sorry if you don’t know Harry Potter - 😖)
• I’m a June cancer, and I have ADHD and anxiety. My anxiety can be literally crippling somedays, but it’s gotten better overtime.
• I’m a bit of a class clown and usually just a clown 🤡 but that’s irrelevant. My teachers all hate me but like school-wise I do well so we have a love and mostly hate relationship 🤧
• I’m usually the ‘entertaining’ friend, in elementary the popular kids would invite me to play games with them because, “you’re funny” and it was like the biggest achievement ever 😭👍🏻 then they’d ignore me but that’s another therapy session
• I’m usually made fun of by people for being ‘weird’ and ‘insane’. Like all through elementary everyone thought I’d be a criminal when I grew up JUST BECAUSE I HAD UNDIAGNOSED ADHD - I hate it here 😐🦶🏻
• I’ve always been super into crime stories/true crime (where my anxiety comes from, I’m always worried about a pesky serial killer just killing me. It’s usually being kidnapped tho lmao) so I knew and still know like all these murder facts and sometimes I’d just randomly be like;
“Hey did you know it takes 12 hours and 2 days to dissolve a body in acid?”
or
“If you bury a dead deer over a dead body you buried deep in the ground, when police dogs sniff it and people dig they’ll just think it was the deer and won’t dig any farther.”
• So maybe people had a reason to be scared of me and think I’ll be a criminal someday, i dunno.
• I love love love reading and writing, and also debating. The things I’ve wanted to be when I grow up are basically: Dog shelter worker, actress, FBI agent, politician, and a writer. But usually I just want to do something that makes a positive impact on people. Like i wanted to be an FBI agent to solve crimes for people. I wanted to be a politican so I could actually help a lot of people. The entertainment industry also seemed like a way to make people happy. Idk, but then I decided I couldn’t be a politican at 10 because they were all corrupt and to be one I would have to be too. 😫🤌🏻 we love some good childhood angst
• the only subjects I’ve ever excelled at are ELA and Social Studies aka History, and Math I can’t do to save my life. ELA comes easy for me and I usually don’t have to work that hard and/or get too stressed over it. But I always get the meanest teachers for some reason. For example, one time I did my final essay for like 30% of my grade in 30 minutes the day it was due and I got an A+ 🦟🦗🦟🦗
• Uhhh id describe myself as a pretty loyal friend, I’m a ride or die type of girl. A story from my childhood that summarizes it pretty well is when I was in 2nd grade my friend wet her pants and she didn’t want to go to the nurse for it alone so I peed my pants so I could go with her and she wouldn’t have to be alone. Like, you know, a professional problem solver
• and I have genuinely attacked people for fucking with my friends but don’t snitch pls 🕳🏃‍♀️💨
• But also just anyone, people at my school tend to come to me with their problems for me to either help solve them by reasoning, or just to confront the other person like the bad bleep I am 😈😈
• I also have a huge daydreaming problem, it’s literally maladaptive daydreaming. So paired with my ADHD I don’t get shit done like ever.
• I have really high empathy levels I guess, like I always say hi to everyone I see on the street, especially if they look sad 😔 I’ve done it ever since I was a little kiddo.
• My fashion sense is very much a preppy/alt style. I wear those ripped tights and fishnets, I also have the MOST BIZARRE JEWELRY- like who allowed me to buy the gummy worm glittery earrings, hmmm???????? and those Mary Janes???????
• But I love crew necks and pleated skirts so I always obide by the National “hoes dont get cold” policy 🇺🇸😫🦅
• I wanna move somewhere someday, I don’t want to stay in America for very long
• I can speak Latin, French, and my native language which is English.
• My music taste varies, but my all-time favorite artists who all of their music they’ve ever put out has been my favorites are, Billie Eilish, Melanie Martinez, and Conan Gray.
• I no-joke have a sign in my front yard that says;
In ✍️ this ✍️ house we ✍️ don’t ✍️ worship Jesus ✍️ but instead ✍️ Melanie ✍️ Martinez
• My favorite shows are MHA (duh), The Promised Neverland, and Malcolm in The Middle.
• and I’m not going to tell you what I prefer in a partner, because that ruins the fun 😤
• but I will say I cannot be friends with someone who doesn’t really make me laugh. Like I’m used to doing most of the talking in convos but if you’re just boring I’m sorry it’s nothing personal but no thanks 😐✌🏻
• About my physical appearance, I have fluffy n curly brown hair, but when it’s in the sunlight it looks sort of brown but golden yk?? It’s shoulder length :) I have bleach blonde streaks in the front. I like wearing eyeliner most days, too. I’m pretty average size/ on the skinnier side. Kinda high key inscure abt my body bc I got flat shamed in elementary EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TIDDIES NOW- whatever 😤🙄. I also have crystal type blue eyes, and I do have fairly big eyes. But, like, not weirdly big. A good big. My cheekbones are ALWAYS PRESENT so sometimes I get called a Tim Burton character but it’s cool ig ☠️☠️ oh and I’m kinda short. I’m 5’3, even though my doctor said I’d be 5’7. I feel like I was either tricked by the doctor or someone just stole my destined height while I was asleep. It’s probably cause I didn’t keep an eye out for Selener 👁 😔😔
• I’m a definite night owl, like all of my energy comes at night which really sucks cuz I can’t do much since everyone else is asleep.
• My love language is touch starved so I’ve never figured it out ✌🏻😗🔫
• but I am an attention whore so idk 😏
• I’m a huge introvert with social anxiety. It isn’t as bad as it used to be cuz I used to not be able to like go to restaurants but now I’m much better.
• I’m a huge history person, mostly like sad history LMFAO. Uh but a lot of my hyperfixations have been on history. Some examples are The Roman Empire, Julius Caesar himself, Anne Frank, The Titanic, the Black Plauge, Helen Keller, Marie Curie, Slavery in the US, Joan of Arc, and just a lot more. I always love talking about these things if someone would let me ramble to them but no one ever does 😖 it also got to a point where for all these subjects I’d go to the library and try to find a book on them but usually I’d either have already read it or I’d read it and know all the information.
• I’m super into Greek Mythology, I have 7 books filled with the stories, I’m going to Greece maybe this summer to see it’s history, and named my hamster Aphrodite but we call her Aphie. I also will talk about this forever and ever if you let me.
• My favorite color is yellow, my favorite food is literally nothing I never have an appetite, my favorite planet is Saturn, favorite song is Tag Your It by Melanie Martinez atm but it changes like everyday.
• Music is a huge safe-space for me if I’m feeling down or having a panic attack. It calms me down n is overall my coping mechanism 💃🏻💃🏻
• Biggest fear is spiders, even looking at one gives me a panic attack and I cannot sleep at all for that night, adding to my insomniac ass 🧎🏻‍♂️🏌️‍♀️
• I’m mature for my age, I don’t exactly like hanging around kids my age and I get along better with older crowds.
• i don’t like conventional dates, (I PROMISE IM NOT TRYING TO SOUND ‘QUIRKY’ AHAHA) I kind of like having a best-friend type partner more so dates that aren’t as romantic as like the movies or a fancy restaurant suite me better. My dream date is playing Monopoly on my bedroom floor 🦧
• Also I hate getting gifts. End of story. If someone gets me a gift like awe that’s nice but never again, I’d prefer to get you one. Especially in a romantic partner 😐 i keep a journal of my friends’ interests and hobbies so I can get them the perfect gifts for their bdays and Christmas’s. Been doing this ever since 4th grade.
• Though I don’t have much actual experience with relationships🧍🏻‍♀️
• I’m a huge believer in ‘family isn’t blood, it’s who you make it’ because I have a pretty shitty family life and my childhood has been trash. My friends are my family to me.
• Also if my friends don’t like my romantic partner ✨ GOODBYE ✨. Sorry girlie, bros before hoes 🦨💨
I was going to put more but I’m so so sorry for how LONG AND COMPLICATED THIS IS- idk if this is a autobiography or a matchup at this point 🤦‍♀️ don’t feel pressured to do this and if matchups aren’t open IM SO SO SORRY LMAO uh yeah ilysm 🦎🎂🧃
OMG ASLDFKJHASLKDJH
🥺 i’m so sorry bby but matchups are closed ;-; my 100 follower event was over while ago (i guess i should’ve specified that in the asks i answered LKSAJHFLKJAHDS SORRY IT’S MY BAD) but you sound so cool?? i had a lot of the same hyperfixations interests (heLLO helen keller was badass AF and the roman empire was messed up but still v cool, anne frank was awesome too) i also may or may not have wanted to be a politician when i was younger alskdjfhalkdhj but now i’m just 🧍🏻‍♀️ lost and anyways you’re amazing >.< love u lots and don’t forget to drink water and eat a lil something hehe :p

Magpies Chapter 2 (a Fictober19 prompt that inspired a following chapter)
I was on a streak but shit happens, and havn’t published anything since the 7th, meaqning that today I’m flooding your dashes with my bullshit.
The drarry drabble I did for the second prompt has been quite succesful, and prompt 8 inspired me a -I believe- worthy continuation. There’s probably going to be a third chapter but I don’t want to push it.
Prompt 8: “Can you stay?”
Fanfic from: Harry Potter saga
Tags: Harry&Draco
Warnings: death mentions, ptsd, anxiety attack
Ao3
Next Friday came and went, and many others. Mrs Appleworm sent an owl with chocolates, a picture with her grandchildren and a couple of lines of motherly advice. Draco sent a selection of herbs from his grounds with instructions to brew a reconstituent potion for the breastfeeding mother, and some books on the magic of identical siblings. Andromeda visited with Teddy. Mother managed to write a couple of letters, her calligraphy improving slightly. Life went on like it had been usual for the past seven years. Except for Fridays.
Harry brought Halloween candy and pumpkin juice. Draco made some sandwiches and tea, and they sat by the fireplace and went about the motions of every Friday’s paperwork and control spells.
“There’s only two more years of this. How do you feel about it?”, asked Harry.
“I don’t feel anything special about it”, answered Draco calmly.
“You don’t? Don’t you want the house arrest to end? Don’t you have plans for when it does?”.
“I’m rotten rich and a wizard. I could just lay around for the next one hundred years and there would still be plenty for Teddy to inherit”, he said as he trapped a chocolate frog and popped it in his mouth.
Harry scoffed, amused.
“Between the Malfoy, the Potter and the Black fortune, Teddy is going to be able to buy Hogwarts”.
“I hope he does. Even at 8, he doesn’t strike like the kind of person to set mortal traps for children”.
“Wow. Did you just roasted Dumbledore?”, laughed Harry.
“I will never not roast Dumbledore. He was wise and powerful but he was completely nuts. Not as in Death Eater nuts or Voldemort nuts, but he was too chaotic to be in charge of children”.
After a brief silence, Harry admitted:
“That’s what I’m working on in therapy. Well, one of the things I’m working on. To be able to blame Dumbledore”.
Draco perked up. After that first time with the magpies skipping along the windowsill, Harry hadn’t mentioned his therapy or Hogwarts. Draco waited for him to open up more, watching him sit in the puffy armchair across the coffee table cramped with candy wrappers and crumbs, eyes set stubbornly on the flames in the hearth. The clocks around the house started to chime. It was five in the afternoon, the time in which Harry usually took his leave, but he wasn’t moving. Nor talking.
“How can a muggle therapist handle that?”, dared to ask Draco in the softest voice he could muster.
“Her daughter is a witch”, explained Harry. “She’s in 5th year now, a Slytherin, by the way. When they found out what had happened in the wizarding world before they entered it, my therapist talked to the Headmistress, who introduced her to Hermione, and they devised a program to combine magical healing with psychotherapy. Obviously, I was their first guinea pig, because why wouldn’t I, right?”. Harry laughed at his own joke and Draco gave him a supportive smile. “Anyway, it’s been three years. It helps but it goes slowly”.
Draco nodded, projecting more understanding than he really was capable of. He had read about therapists. Had heard the word in pop songs and seen them in movies. But he knew close to nothing about psychotherapy and it never occurred to him he might need it. Up until Harry spoke again:
“She was appalled by the war and the fact that most of the people involved in the last decisive battle were basically children like me and you. She still can’t come to terms with the fact that I died and came back to life, and…”
“I am sorry, Potter, what?!”
Harry was caught by surprise. That made Draco realise that information was probably public domain and pretty much old news, which failed to soften the blow.
“You… I thought your mother would have told you. She was there and she lied for me so I could kill Voldemort. I explained it at her trial, I thought…”
“Well Potter, I wasn’t there. The Wizengamot considered that, while I was old enough to be treated as an adult before the law, I was too young to attend my own mother’s trial”.
Draco tried to keep his voice calm, but he was trembling, and steam started to rise again from the cold  teacup he was nursing. Harry managed to babble an apology before being interrupted with Draco’s distressed, non-believing words.
“I’m sorry, I…”
“Nobody told me! And they don’t let me get the Prophet, I get a curated selection of articles where every reference about the war is redacted! I had no idea you died!”.
“But, why does it matter so much to you?!”
“Because!”, bellowed Draco right before the teacup exploded. He was breathing heavily, cheeks aflame, and made no motion to clean the mess up, nor any sign of feeling the burnt of the boiling water.
It took a beat for Harry to react and vanish the spill and the shattered china shards. He stood up from his seat and went to kneel in front of Draco, to level his line of sight. With his hands half risen and palms facing outwards he gave Draco an inquisitive look before touching his forearms and thighs, spreading a cooling, healing charm wandlessly and wordlessly. A show of power Draco barely registered, too busy trying to even his breathing.
“Are you alright?”, asked Harry softly after a while. Draco nodded. “Why were you so upset, Malfoy?”.
“I don’t know. I honestly don’t”, he insisted at Harry’s skeptical look.
“Okay then. I think the clocks already struck five, so it’s time for me to go. Will you be okay?”
“Yes, yes, of course Potter. I’ll be fine, don’t you worry”, said Draco, spreading politeness and deference over his words. “Plus, it is Halloween. There must be a party somewhere waiting for you”.
“Actually I told everyone I had a cold”, he admitted, winking mischievously. “I just wanted to spend a quiet night without much ado”. Draco smiled, understanding even though solitude was his everyday life. “I guess I’ll go now. Don’t break any more Malfoy heirlooms while I’m gone”.
Draco nodded him goodbye and closed his eyes, focusing on Harry’s steps on the carpet, the beating of his own heart, the swept of the robes being lifted from the chair where they had been resting, more steps, his heart accelerating.
“Potter!”, he said. And it sounded first year Malfoy in the Great Hall, third year Malfoy across the grounds of Hogwarts, sixth year Malfoy in the second floor girl’s bathroom.
The sound of steps reaching a halt and feet turning around, robes swishing.
“Yes?”, asked Potter. It sounded like anything Draco had heard before.
“Can you stay?”

Or at least a much-needed distraction while he searches for a job and crashes at his parents’ new house. No one warned him about the apparitions though; about the music, the laughter, the people who flicker and vanish when you call after them, the echoes of a past that should be long gone… Harry has never believed in spirits but even he can admit that there’s something weird going on. Karma kind of owes him right now. Forget about his overprotective mother, or Liam– his entirely too chipper step brother– or his mess of a roommate. Forget about the gloves he has to wear at all times. He’s here to expand his knowledge, write and drown himself in books – No matter how distracting ‘Hallway Boy’ may be– The obnoxious, flirty frat wannabe determined to become the bane of Louis’ existence.

A celebrity among football fans, he knows how to play, he knows how to party, and he knows how to fuck (all of which is well known among his legion of admirers).Louis Tomlinson is a student and an athlete, but his similarities to Harry end there. Speaking of Marvels : AU. Louis is a nanny in suburban New Jersey, and the neighbors’ son is home from college for the summer. It was supposed to be a fling.
Friends by Ed Sheeran
And if you know me like I know youYou should love me, you should know
You Are The Blood : A seventh-year Hogwarts AU in which Niall gets all the girls, Liam goes on a journey of self-discovery, Zayn falls in love, Harry wants something more, and Louis tries to figure out once and for all why he, a Muggleborn, was sorted into Slytherin.
Fallingforyou by The 1975
According to your heartMy place is not deliberateFeeling of your armsI don’t want to be your friend, I want to kiss your neck
Unbelievers : It’s Louis’ senior year, and he’s dead set on doing it right. However, along with his pair of cleats, a healthy dose of sarcasm and his ridiculous best friend, he’s also got a complicated family, a terrifyingly uncertain future, and a mortal enemy making his life just that much worse. Mortal enemies “with benefits” was not exactly the plan. Or: The one where Louis and Harry definitely aren’t friends, and football is everything.
Stand By Me by Florence + The Machine
No I won’t be afraidJust as long as you stand, stand by me
Give Me Truths : Louis is a psychology student with a tattoo count as high as his genius IQ. Harry is in a (sort-of) relationship with a homophobic man and hates himself a little more every day. Things fall apart and Louis puts him back together.Or, the one in which Louis falls in love with a fragile boy and tells him every beautiful truth in the world, as long as it makes him happy.
Love On Top by Beyonce
Now everybody ask me why I’m smiling out from ear to earBut I know Nothing’s perfect but it’s worth it
Bloodline : Louis doesn’t know how to feel when his best friend, Liam, finds out about a brother that he never knew, who was placed for adoption before he was born and is bursting into his life at twenty-four years old. Louis is very wary of the man who might replace him. He has always thought of Liam as his own brother. What if Liam doesn’t need him anymore? What if there’s no room for Louis? After all, blood runs thicker than water. Louis doesn’t like Liam’s new brother and he doesn’t even know him. That’s irrelevant, though. He doesn’t like him. He doesn’t trust him. He doesn’t want him hanging around. He doesn’t want anything to do with him. That is, until he meets him.
Perfect by Ed Sheeran
I found a love to carry more than just my secrets
Dance to the Distortion : Louis accidentally breaks Harry’s camera lens and in order to get it fixed, they decide to participate in a romantic couples study. The only issue is that they are not actually couple. Well that and the fact they cannot stand each other.
Look After You by The Fray
When I’m losing my control, the city spins aroundYou’re the only one who knows, you slow it down
Gods & Monsters : The instructions were simple: seduce and destroy Harry Styles. Not once did they discuss the option of Louis actually falling in love. So, naturally, that’s exactly what he did.
Flowers In Your Hair by The Lumineers
And romanticized the time I sawFlowers in your hair
Your Name Is Tattooed On My Heart : Louis is ready to find the love of his life, but first he has to stop falling for the punk rocker next door.
So Easy
Like a rainbow in a rainstorm makes the flowers growYou’re the reason, I believe in, something I don’t know
When We Were Younger : Sixteen year old Harry Styles’ world turns upside down when he logs on to gay teen chat to discover somebody has stolen his photos and used them as their own.
Ho Hey
I belong with you, you belong with me, you’re my sweetheart
California Sold : Notoriously closeted boyband member Harry Styles is famous on a global scale, meanwhile Louis, as his best friend, is back home in Manchester, living the typical life of a 24 year old. When Harry needs Louis with him in LA, a publicity stunt gone wrong changes their friendship forever. A fake-relationship AU between two lifelong best friends.
Me And You by Jake Bugg
All of these people want us to failI won’t let that happen noJust you believe meI’ll hide you discreetlyDiscreetly from this cold world
Cupid’s Defense : In which Harry is Cupid, Louis and Liam own a law firm, and they’re all getting sued.
Fire And The Flood by Vance Joy
Since we met I feel a lightness in my stepYou’re miles away but I still feel youAnywhere I go there you are
Chasing Empty Spaces : The year is 1934 and Harry Styles was to inherent the largest tobacco firm in the south. His parents have picked out the “perfect” girl for him to marry and he has the privilege of receiving the highest education possible. The problem was, Harry hadn’t realized he didn’t actually want any part of that future until he met a mechanic named, Louis Tomlinson.
I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons
You forgave and I won’t forget
Feels Like Coming Home : The last thing Harry Styles expects when he’s hanging out at the Someday Cafe in Somerville one rainy October day is for his ex, Louis Tomlinson to walk through the door, but that’s exactly what happens. After a spectacularly ugly break-up three years prior, Harry hasn’t heard one word from Louis, and he’s moved on. Gotten over him. But having Louis back in his life, not to mention working at the restaurant where he’s a chef, isn’t easy, and the feelings that Harry thought he’d left turn out to be not so easily forgotten.

Audio
Around since 2008, San Francisco based act Bigelow’s Treehouse like to stretch the boundaries of traditional roots rock and Americana, with none other than hard-edged shuffles, deep funk, blues and some occasional twang. Having shared the stage with Bay Area legends like Tia Carrol and Little Wolf and the Hellcats, these guys are appropriately organic, locally grown and cage free (and reassuringly cheaper than a trip to the farmer’s market).
We spoke to the tremendously funny Andrew Balmat; a little about the new single Odd Man Out, but mostly about other stuff.
Q: Hey Andrew, thanks for talking with us. So Bigelow’s Treehouse – I know there’s an interesting story to this name. Is the awesome photo on the cover related to it – its so nostalgic!
A: My pleasure! Naturally, people ask about the name a lot. It came from friend of mine who’s a writer, and he sent me a few band names that all referenced things and places from our childhood. I really liked the sound of Bigelow’s Treehouse—it’s just fun to say—so it stuck.
And it’s a real thing. That’s David Bigelow in the picture from 1969, sliding down the pole and looking a bit scared. I’m maybe 10 years younger than Dave & his brother, so they had no interest in hanging out with me, and I rarely got to go up there. The treehouse, which was made about as well as a real house, took on this mythical status. To me, anyway.
Sadly, David’s not with us anymore, and the neighborhood doesn’t look like it did in that picture. Our song ‘Mr. Leonard’ was inspired partly by a thousand conversations with the family who lived in the house poking out in the top left of the photo. Mr. Leonard passed away this year, too.
I do write songs about other things than my neighbours and their houses. Our new EP will be about my old cat, for example, and then there’s the Bicycle Trilogy…
Q: People aren’t using chords like this any more, which is a shame (the chorus is just a perfect relief to these verses) and I can certainly hear 90’s brit-pop in this track. Who are your influences?
A: Oh, thanks! The song is definitely Brit-influenced, but probably more 60s in my case. I always gravitated toward that older stuff. Kinks, Beatles, and Harry Nilsson, who was American but like a fifth Beatle.
I don’t think of the chords as too weird, but I get what you mean. Things are more layered today and less intricately structured. But I guess it’s not entirely new. James Brown and the later John Coltrane & Miles Davis stuff seemed to sit on one chord a lot. It makes for a dreamy mood.
I love chords, and lately I’ve been noticing how powerful they really are. Use fewer and they can have more power. There’s a Prince song called Hot Thing that is pretty much just one chord, but towards the middle of the song the chord finally changes and it’s an explosion of energy. He also discovered that if you slide across the stage, through the dancer’s legs, tearing her skirt off along the way, that it can really accentuate a chord change. So we’re working on that.
Q: Jay Z is now doing “dad-rap” and you have joked about your music being “dad-rock” but you’re not a dad yourself yet, right? What makes music “dad-rock” is it being a dad, or making music dads might listen to?
A: Well, if Jay Z is ‘dad-rap,’ it looks like I will be pioneering ‘grandpa rock.’
I suppose I always thought of the dads as the ones listening. I think of the dads as older guys who still really care about music and are trying to force their tastes on their kids. But if Wilco and Talking Heads are how your dads try to embarrass you, then you’re doing pretty well. It begs the question, though…what’s ‘mom rock?’
Anyway, I don’t think it’s really about age, it’s just about maturity. When I was a kid, I didn’t want to listen to kids sing. I looked for some kind of wisdom in my music, so I wanted to hear an adult perspective. Not adult like “study hard in school,” but some wisdom like “laughing and crying, you know it’s the same release.” You don’t have to be old, though. Lorde sounded fairly wise at 16. The Beatles weren’t even 30 when they broke up, but by 1966 they were wise. I’m older than them, but it doesn’t feel that way.
Q: I know Bigelow’s Treehouse previously teamed up with Emily Zisman and Ryan Avery (from Chance’s End, who we reviewed last week) on your track “The Herd” a long-time favourite of mine. How did you end up working with those guys?
A: They are great, right? I met Emily years ago. We did some shows together and became friends. She sings on Odd Man Out, too, if you listen closely. Our producer was so excited when she did her part that he told me he was just going to mix my voice out of the song. Super funny guy. He’s dead to me, now.
They say San Francisco is kind of the home of free love, and I think we’re pretty musically promiscuous here, too. We all have our own things going on, but the musicians all get to know each other. I’m very lucky to get to play with Ryan and Emily and so many others – and of course Kitt, Boris, and Adam, who made the songs what they are.
Q. You’re the guitarist and vocalist for the group, and the songwriter too. Where do you draw your inspiration?
A. It’s more or less therapy for me. I write whatever I’m thinking about and I write (or I try to write) the music I would like to hear. My themes tend to be criticism of modern society or of myself, which means there’s no chance of ever running out of material.
But being in my head can be a trap, so I have to be careful. I thought of writing a song called “It’s So Sad to Be Depressed,” because so many of songwriters and artists get caught up in thinking that anyone actually cares about our life’s drama. But really, I think they just want a good soundtrack to their own misery! Music is ultimately entertainment, and once you get to that place, then it can be more. But you have to make someone care first; you can’t just be depressed and call it great art.
