The Marvels is a great movie. How I rate it? 4.5/5 stars.
A team of three. Teyonah Harris as Monica Rambeau is awesome and with no Wanda in sight; she definitely gets to shine here. And add that Nia DeCosta knows how to hire people to know how to highlight and lowlight all skintones; it’s nice that her powers and her look so awesome. I definitely hope she has her own movie in the future with the same film crew. No more of the Christopher Nolan/ standard boring MCU lighting.
Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan is fun because she oozes excitement of wanting to be Ms Marvel. Ms Marvel also has a great family cast and feels fresh and fun as well. I see why Ms Marvel has a TV series. Add that it seems like she’s in actual costumes that look like a fan made it is also pretty cool. Great job
Brie Larson being Captain Marvel is a great choice and glad to see her without all those other Avengers. Plus her costume looks even better than the first movie.
As for the villains, Zawe Ashton as Dar-Benn is top notch. Very fun and it wasn’t that complicated to be caught up with The Marvels without seeing the Ms Marvel show.
If anything, I think The Marvels is a movie that would make new fans of Monica and Kamala and want to learn more about them and check out the comics , which a Marvel movie hasn’t really done in a long time, since the first Black Panther movie.
I hate that this movie even worse treatment than Birds of Prey because how dare women lead movies, and how dare two of them be WoC! Plus this movie has great lighting; actual costumes, it feels like the crew members were fans and even the CGI looks like they were happy to be there. It feels like pre Disney Marvel and I like it
Highly recommend!

The Marvels (2023) Review
Potential spoilers ahead...
This movie isn't bad, but compared to the movies it is inherently stacked against, it does fall short of expectations. The writing feels obvious and shoddy throughout the film. For example when the final conflict is "solved" by what the movie itself explains as fixing a hole "punched" in space by "punching" it again. The CGI was fine, it seemed pretty standard and nothing particularly stood out in either direction, good or bad. The pacing felt a bit slow but that could honestly be attributed to the actual nature of the plot. This is also the first 100 min. movie we've gotten from Marvel in awhile, and the pacing almost suggests they forgot how to make regular length movies.
The post credit scene brings in the X-Men and specifically Beast, and all I would like to say is; Marvel, you need to figure your shit out before you even Think about bringing the X-Men into the shit show your productions have recently become. They will not fix the problems that were created by wanting to make as much money as possible while not caring about the quality of the products you create. Please Step Away From X-Men. DO NOT RUIN FUCKING X-MEN!

I’m rewatching endgame and I just noticed how the shirt that Carol is wearing the The Marvels trailer is similar to the shirt nat is wearing during the teleconference scene in Endgame. Secret Invasion (Spoilers) and arguments for and against more Maria in the series
Hey Maria stans I know yesterday was brutal and if you are like me she was the only reason you are watching secret invasion and most anything in the MCU. I have some hope we will still see Cobie/Maria in more Secret Invasion and I convinced myself last night when I couldn’t sleep because of how dirty they did her that maybe she’s not totally gone. It’s very cruel how they had her do so much press and stuff but they did it to mess with us (DURING PRIDE)! And it’s such a cruel and unbelievable way for her to go from the universe that I just cannot believe it.
While she’s probably definitely dead because she’s a woman in the OG MCU over 35… (great look marvel btw) and in my heart I feel like she’s really gone but here’s some arguments for both sides

same pan out as Gamora and Natasha RIP
Clearly she is dead
Maria was wearing two cuff ring earrings on her ear when she was at Talos house maybe representing her two full circles of life ? (Maria wearing jewelry is super rare!)
Cobie saying “most depth” she’s been able to do with her is about the emotional depth of the last scene since Maria almost never gets to show any emotion or feeling and I really think what she said was taken out of context, she said there as no backstory for her or really anything so this might be it!
All of the outfits Maria wears in the clips in trailers or photos have been used in the first episode but marvel is smart about that
Maybe not dead or at least not done in the MCU/Secret Invasion
although probably a trick : she’s still credited for six episodes so far on IMDB
Entertainment Tonight reported a rumor that Maria might make an appearance in the Marvels!!
Flash back scenes possible for the rest of Secret Invasion
Maria said “someone will get hurt” talking to Fury not “someone will get killed” and she’s usually right---maybe this is a hint?
Cobie said in an interview “she had a lot of scenes at the same time as Don [Cheadle]” but we didn’t see any scenes of her with Don Cheadle yet (although I guess he could be coming out to the funeral and that’s the scenes she’s talking about???? If anyone deserves to get the Coulson recovery treatment it’s Maria
Jackson and Smudlers both said “Maria has lost patience with Fury” but she seemed mostly happy to see him?
Fringe theories I have no support for but want:
Maria has secretly been dating Dr. Helen Cho since Age of Ultron and she saves the day since she is also in Russia
Dr. Strange magic ?? There is allegedly a cameo of someone we don’t know coming up in the series. Maybe it’s Doctor Strange and he uses his magic that I don’t understand and Fury gets a redo and saves Maria? the episode is called resurrection and different lines were used in the teaser trailer than were in the episode?
She just pretended to die since Gravik was gonna shoot her in the head but she is gonna just retire now and finally take a break because after all this isn’t the first time she’s died and come back.
At the end of Secret Invasion she comes out of the shadows all Winter Soldier like “you just needed that extra push” and goes full Fury on Fury to get him back to normal--and she’s totally fine. Totally fine.
Also no one I know watches Marvel and I need to discuss this with someone because my heart shattered into a million pieces! Let me know what you think!
