this feels really odd to ask but but what do you think the hunting dogs' thoughts are about death? specifically if they die and how? cause I feel like all of them share a variation of "I will go down guns blazing and with glory"

fukuchi definitely feels it and I feel like jouno as well. they've both had rough and violent lives so I feel like they've always thought death was just right around the corner.

I don't know about the rest of them though. teruko I feel shares the thought but not as intense as the other two, and I dont know about tecchou and tachihara.

anyway. it's a neat thought to me :3

ohhh i’ve been thinking of the best way to answer this for DAYS. this analysis will be long so ill put it under a readmore.

the hunting dogs and death - analysis

overall, it is shown that they can die. i assume due to their abilities and bodily enhancements that they do not die of injuries very easily. it makes me wonder how disease hits them? partially mechanical bodies may not respond to illness as well as natural bodies would? or maybe the opposite and they can heal more so internally? anyways here's my thoughts on how each hunting dog perceives dying!!

fukuchi

i see fukuchi as fairly self-preserving up until the end. he can't die in battle because he needs to make sure the decay of angels plot carries out.

remember that he was warned of this at nine years old. he had to spend his life preparing for this. he likely grew very wary of living recklessly and became great at fighting very fast and young; i assume that's why he went through dojos to fight as a child.

under no circumstances could he die until the world was safe.

i imagine he put on a selfless face and was willing to take serious harm in order to protect the peace, but i highly doubt he was ever willing to sacrifice his life until his plan worked out.

here we see his thought process and how things need to fall into place. his participation was essential because in no other situation would fukuzawa be the one able to get access to the one order. if fukuchi had died beforehand, the war would play out as the amenogozen warning claimed.

he had to leave the world to fukuzawa, the man he could trust most before facing his own demise.

of course, at this point in the series he has been killed since that was the final goal of his plan. a noble death for a fantastic hero.

jouno

im actually a little conflicted on his perception of death. i believe jouno is willing to sacrifice his life if absolutely necessary but is probably more self-preserving than the others. i believe he likely uses his confident and slightly arrogant attitude to hide this self-preserving mindset. someone who comes off as intimidating or nonchalant during battle is more likely to throw off the enemy whereas appearing nervous or angry will make them seem vulnerable. i believe jouno also sees himself as very strategic and able to get out of situations easily if needed. he's a quick thinker from what we've seen thus far.

lets look at when he confronted fukuchi.

he starts off very confidently accepting the offer. we know this is a facade but him immediately trying to throw fukuchi off guard seems so show he's pretty confident in his next move.

but when this doesn't work, he immediately tries to flee. this is fairly unique for a fight in bsd, many characters will often fight until they either get what they wish or they're too injured to move. despite jouno having an ability that could dodge fukuchi's, he still chose to try and escape instead of continuing to fight. this is a very normal human reaction to have but not one you see as often.

and at a disturbance, he begins to panic and needs to ground himself by reassuring himself instead of fighting back. he's not willing to put his life on the line to stop a global terrorism and his own escape is seen as a victory, which i see as him being more self-preserving. this all took place before the sword was set on fire, so it wasn't as if he had that threat to escape yet.

however, there's a chance he just didn't know how to fight the amenogozen; but his ability was definitely one of the best to fight against fukuchi with.

still, he's smart and made sure to plan adequately in case he was injured in the battle against fukuchi. he wants to keep himself safe, but he's still smart enough to take precaution.

i think jouno has probably been through a lot in his life and wants to spend a while living happily, making him more afraid to die than the others. this is even shown when he took teruko being angry as a threat while fukuchi laughed over it.

(as a small note, fukuchi's line in the anime was "haha. it seems our gremlin is angry today" which makes more sense in this context).

so tldr i think jouno would only go down if absolutely necessary and otherwise is fairly self-prioritizing.

tecchou

i believe tecchou would sacrifice himself if it brings justice.

however, he seems to see himself as one responsible for judgement, so i imagine he gives every single fight his all.

regardless of him acting as judgement, it's been shown that tecchou is willing to die if he fails at his work.

here he promises that if he were to fail he would commit seppuku (killing oneself via slicing through your stomach--an honourable death for a samurai fighter (which lines up with irl tetchou coming from samurai lineage)), which is an incredibly agonizing way to die. regardless, he is fully willing to do it if it is for peace. this shows a confidence in death and commitment to his sense of justice to an extreme manner.

and when he found himself in a situation where he was in the wrong, he immediately admitted defeat and asked his opponent to kill him.

he admits defeat, says his wrongs and is willing to accept the consequences.

he even jumps to the harsh conclusion that he isn't worthy of his title as a hunting dog. the stark white in his eyes show that his mind isn't corrupted and that he is doing what he believes is proper justice. incredibly noble.

luckily he was spared-and likely learned a lot about justice not always being as black and white as things appear.

overall, tecchou is a very noble fighter and is willing to put his life on the line for justice. he doesn't seem to fear death and will embrace it if he feels it is earned or deserved.

tachihara

i have less to say about tachihara than the others. i see him as the type that will go down over what's right and that's shown during his fight with fukuchi.

he isn't willing to fear death or beg for forgiveness. he will go down if it is worthy.

we also see that he keeps a argumentative spirit towards the enemy despite the circumstances. he will put down his opponent even in the moment of death, he just has the confidence to.

this panel also shows that he's more willing to die than to be defeated. he doesn't want to harm anyone and be controlled so he tries to kill himself first.

overall, he's a strong fighter who isn't afraid to sacrifice his life for what he believes in. his orders make him who he is, and if the orders are to win he either will or he will die trying.

(of course that last part doesn't really count when he was posing as a mafioso because he couldn't blow his cover by easily surviving everything).

teruko

much like tachihara, teruko seems to be very willing to put herself on the line to keep people safe. this is shown almost immediately in her introduction.

if ordered, she is willing to die. she's incredibly dedicated to her job and would go down if it saves people.

she's willing to go to drastic measures to keep herself alive as well, destroying her eardrum and continuing to try and fight sigma despite being under the directed resonance guns (which were made to destroy people like her). she didn't run, and she did absolutely everything she could have done in order to win.

she seems to also pride herself in fighting and being hurt in battle, likely to show her resilience and ability to do whatever it takes if it saves people.

she even goes on to call the hunting dogs "society's servants" and refers to the enhancement surgeries as "searing order into their own bodies."

this immense dedication makes me strongly believe that she would have no problem sacrificing herself if it is for the best. she killed fukuchi despite really caring for him, so i can see her being willing to put herself into that situation as well.

tysm for the question!!!!! this was super fun to read through the scenes again and try to piece together a logical guess on them all.

OK so long story short the other day I was abusing the computers at my job to look up dragon ball characters and I came across THIS IMAGE of GOTEN that I found out was from DRAGON BALL AF which is a fan-made thing and idk . Dont worry about the details.

I thought it was soooo cool like put my chin in my hands and sigh lovingly. But also it was more of a rant-and-rave kind of adoration. Becasue I couodt beleieve how cool it was. Becasue here is why

Im super bad at deisgns or redesigns and sometimes I have epic ideas but if I don't then I don't. I think it would be stellar if we had a design for Goten & Trunks when they're older than GT and running the sword dojo. And I've tried to cook some up. But it vexes me for two reasons. First of all Dragon Ball deisgns when colored are gaudy and stupid looking. But also sometimes they use neutral colors. And they're eccentric and unique. And I try to mix all of these factors and the result Does Not Work. Becasue despite the plentiful love that I have for colors, I Do Not Understand Color Theory. Definitely not enough to push it to its limits like dragon ball does. My second problem is the actual clothes themselves. There is something wrong with me that makes it so that i eschew research like my life depends on it. I'm sure it's totally possible to gather a minimal understanding of what sorts of clothing / eras / disciplines certain dragon ball styles are based on, and to cross-reference that with what is actually depicted in dragonball, and come up with an outfit that gels. But I cannot do that. So yeah

This outfit featured here is so familiar yet unique enough to turn my head a bit. For an example. The yellow above his shoes. What is that. Don't answer that. I'm in love either way

THEY JUST ... PICKED TWO COLORS? That's it? THAT'S ALLOWED ????? Just TWO COLORS and only ONE of them isn't a dead-tone-neutral-non-color. Well I guess it's four colors, and still, only one (yellow) isn't a non-color (grey and white and black). I'M SO IMPRESSED !?!??!?!!??

The only idea that I had for post-GT Goten was FOR SOME REASON the visual flair of something long and sharply flowing off of him. Like a scarf, or a long sash, or a Dr Drakken style rattail. But I can't do all three. Becasue that's too much. But I like all three. So IDK what to do.

YEAH THEY WENT ON AHEAD AND GAVE HIM THIS SASH ON HIS HEAD. Sure. Go on ahead. Throw it on there. Looks good. Good contrast against his black hair. Makes it to you can draw his eyebrows over it and so he can emote clearly. SO GENIUS. So simple. I'm gobsmacked

HE'S COLORED LIKE A BUMBLE BEE ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!

My conclusion is that this is the best non-canon design of adult Goten that has ever been and we should all adopt it immediately from Dragon Ball AF. I am so stunned and impressed by the fact that he is wearing just grey and yellow. I have tried to break down all of Goten's canon outfits to find a pattern in the color schemes but I could not find one. But I can tell when it works for him or not and I don't understand how or why. I have at various points tried to design new outfits for him. I have experimented with yellow, teal, pink... Never really red because red only appears on two of his outfits in a minor way. More astutely because red is not really Him (like it is for Bura or Videl).

Definitely the most promising color I've found for him is Yellow. It's a sunshine-soulchild color. But I still haven't figured out how to practically incorporate it. For example, is it a predominate color or one of several? I've seen dragon ball outfits go either way. I definitely prefer the former becasue that's how I'm used to seeing it in my silly little western cartoons - every character has a color, don't they? And that's Their color. But this is dragon ball.

If you pull a warm yellow or pair it with orange, you are reminded of kid Goten and his orange gi. If you keep it colder or pair it with green, you get something reminding you of his EOZ "Goten Son" shirt. But what if you want something new? The next step in the evolution of Son Goten, but still unmistakably him? You would want to stay away from yellow and orange, becasue Trunks wears a lot of that himself. What about yellow and not a green bice, but a forest green? What about muddy non-colors? Dragon ball colors tend to be warm-shifted becasue it was the 90s, but you can work within that color range. But exactly HOW? What about yellow and pink? Teal? Aqua?? You can't use lavender (Trunks's color). And to be fair I have experimented with grey before, since he wears grey pants in DBS:SH. But I always tried to find other colors to shoehorn in there because I thought I had to. And what's really left...?

DRAGON BALL AF has the answers.

Headcanons for OFA stockpiles beauty, tddk version, please.

1- ok so dorms happen earlier in the first semester, after the revelation that Shigaraki carries a picture around of Izuku and the winged nomu targeted him to carry off. But in the meantime while they're being built, UA is like 'maybe we should get this kid a protective detail or someone at least watching him off campus'. Tenya and Shoto are both in the hospital room while that's discussed, and both immediately offer their connections- but with the Iida family focusing on their sons right now, it makes more sense to see if they can take the Todorokis up on it instead. Which means that now, Izuku is alternating between staying with All Might (doesn't want to impose or run more of his time down) or the Todorokis (also doesn't want to impose, but its nice to get to know his friend more!)

2- Enji isn't thrilled about the protective detail, but he figures pretty quickly this kid's got some connection to All Might and would like to figure out what- and uh yeah Shoto's crush on him is as obvious as it is understandable, so he wants to keep an eye on that to make sure he isn't distracted now that he's finally using his fire.

He is very specific about Izuku getting a guest room in a different wing of the house from Shoto.

It doesn't matter much, since they spend a lot of time out with friends after school or together in the living room or dojo anyway.

3- Fuyumi decides to try and help her brother out, asking Izuku a couple questions while he's helping her cook and Shoto's gone to visit Rei one Sunday. She says she's sure he's the heartbreaker of his class, any datemate?

Izuku laughs uncomfortably, says no, but gets why she asked- its a side effect of his quirk, he isn't really as attractive as it seems, no one is actually likes him, just the quirk tricking them too.

Fuyumi gets very quiet and very serious, and says she's sorry. Sometimes, quirks don't seem worth the trouble, and he's in hard spot- but she's sure at some point, someone will see the real him, and like the real him, besides from the glamour. Izuku thanks her, and after dinner Fuyumi pulls Shoto aside to bring up the quirk and if he thinks he's under the effect of it, or if he has a real crush on him.

Shoto stares at her, and says he doesn't have a crush on Izuku, he's just objectively attractive and a brilliant friend.

Fuyumi realizes he's as oblivious as Izuku, and both beyond her help.

4- Shoto realizes that night that Fuyumi was right, but as a youngest sibling is physically incapable of admitting that so soon, and decides to simply act as if it was a slowburn unrelated to anything she said, and that itll probably be easy, since Izuku is so clearly over any attempts to woo him. He doesn't want to be pushy. He doesn't want Izuku to feel like Rei. So instead, he just acts friendly. Gets him All Might merch for his birthday, keeps a poker face when Izuku joins them in the hot spring at camp even if he cant quite control the temperature reaction, and keeps a lookout/causes distractions to make having quiet meetings with All Might easier for him.

5- Ok i dont know how but imagine whatever convoluted scenario needs to happen for Izuku to get shot with a temporary eraser bullet. this is mostly because he deserves to go feral and smart and fight quirkless again, but also because everyone realizes he does look/seem different this way, until the glamour comes back- everyone except Shoto, who didn't notice a difference and says it, which startles some tears out of Izuku only for him to bury that deep, deep down because he's got a while before he's gonna confront the mortifying ordeal of having a crush of his own

CHAP 8 — party time

summary: Kai, one of your closest friends, invites you as a plus one to one of his best friend's birthday party. but the bday boy is kinda cute…can you steal his heart?

warnings: alcohol and jealous yn i think thats it

March 18th, 2023 aka party time

having never been to a party before it's only natural for you to stress out a little. if "a little" meant a lot that is. your especially nervous since you aren't exactly allowed to be going and It seems impossible to be going to your first real high school party in your senior year but here you are, contemplating what to wear. casual? formal? shit why didn't you ask if there is a dress code. too late now, casual it is! Sure, it's a safe choice, but you're only looking for one person's attention, so it shouldn't matter, right?

looking at yourself in the mirror, you wonder whether or not beomgyu will like your outfit. who am I kidding Of course he'll like it, he complimented your outfit the first time you hung out, and that was just your school uniform, so this should be okay.

turning your phone off and throwing it in your bag so you can be out of the door as fast as you can, you run down the stairs to the front door, trying to be as quite as possible so your mom doesn't know your going out. seeing Kai waiting impatiently at his car.

you run up to the car, quickly opening the passenger door, and jumping in the car. you wince at the sight of the car, empty water bottles everywhere, and fast food bags scattered around.

"Jeez Kai, do you ever clean this thing?" you question, throwing handfuls of empty water bottles into the back seat to make room for your legs.

"Don't disrespect the mojo dojo casa car y/n" he said "Also Soobin and I share this car, so this isn't my mess," he added while starting the car up and pulling out of the driveway.

"Is Soobin already at the party then?" you questioned, getting your phone out of your purse to tell beomgyu that you were on your way there.

"Yeah, he stayed the night at Yeonjun's place the day before to help set up the party," he tells you.

"Well How long will it take to get there?" you asked, looking at the time on your phone, wanting to see your friends already there as soon as possible.

"around forty minutes, but yknow we would have been there sooner if you hadn't taken so long to get ready."

"Wooooooww the disrespect is crazy, I just wanna look cute for pictures okay?"

"More like you want to look cute for Gyu."

"Maybe you're right" You pull out your phone and connect it to the Bluetooth in the car, playing a favorite song of Gyus that he told you about on your study date.

"Isn't this Gyu's favorite song? jeez y/n you're really down bad"

"Whatever you say Kai"

after a surprisingly pleasant and calm car ride of listening to chill music Gyu has reopened to you and let the air breeze through your hair, Kai, and you are finally just around the corner from the party. even if you're at the end of the street you can already hear the faint sound of music and the smell of alcohol coming from yeonjun's house.

"I can already hear the music, Kai." You close the window on your side of the car and text beomgyu telling him you're right around the corner. "Yeah well Yeonjun is kinda known for throwing parties," Kai says pulling into the driveway.

you slowly step out of the car, closing the door behind you. the sound hits you in the face immediately, Putting your hands over your ears you try to look for beomgyu, You thought it would be easy but there is just enough people in the front yard for you too not be able to see the front door from where your standing. thankfully Kai grabs onto your arm guiding you to the front door, maneuvering through the sea of people. the second you reach the front porch you see beomgyu standing there waiting for you.

"Hi gyu!! Happy birthday!!" You run up to him embracing him in a hug, then slowly pulling away not wanting to make him uncomfortable at the sudden affection. "Hey y/n!!" from Beomgyu's pov though it felt as though a million butterflies flew through his stomach, heartbeat going up to one hundred, making him a little nervous.

"I'm gonna play pinball with taehyun in the basement, Text me when you wanna leave y/n," Kai says, leaving the two of you alone at the front door.

"wanna get a drink? nothing with alcohol of course." he chuckles, gesturing for you to follow him to the kitchen, and of course you do. "Is Jiung here with haerin yet? I think they left to get here before me," you say checking the time on your phone, really just wanting to be around your mutual friends to start having 10x more fun.

"Yeah they're here, I'm pretty sure that there in the kitchen so we're going in the right direction if you wanna see them."

"cool, cool cool cool."

"You seem a bit nervous y/n, are you okay?"

"Well im not exactly allowed to be here."

"oh my god just don't get in trouble cause of me."

"I'll try not too"

After a little bit of back and forth talking and walking through a maze of hallways you finally make it to the kitchen, You see your friends talking among themselves and with someone you don't quite recognize.

"Hey y/n!!!" haerin yells out to you. "This party I really fun, I already made a friend, and she's like totally awesome," she says gesturing to the girl standing opposite to her, damn she's really pretty, is beomgyu friends with her?

"Hello! Y/n right? My name is Rami, so nice to meet you!" Maybe it's just you being a lil jealous of her beauty but you're getting major bad vibes from this girl.

"Hey, Rami...do you know the bday boy?" you ask, intertwining your arm with beomgyu's as if your dating. he doesn't seem to be at all surprised with your behaviour though, even leaning into you.

"No actually, Yeonjun invited me" she giggles. "I only came to make friends honestly. I did get you a present though beomgyu!" She reaches into her bag pulling out a $100 dollar gift card and hands it to beomgyu.

"Oh my god Rami this is too much, You really didn't have to." beomgyu muttered, moving away from you slowly taking the gift into his hands. feeling a bit like you've been showed up, you reach into your bag hoping that he would prefer a gift that had a lot more thought put into it. but you feel nothing. the book you bought for him is nowhere to be seen. you forgot it.

"What did you get for beomgyu, Y/n?" she says, clearly seeing the distraught on your face from not having the gift with you. and beomgyu looks at you the a look of excitement as if he's been waiting for this.

"Oh...umm" you don't know what to say, opting to lie about where your present is. "It hasn't come in the mail yet" You hope and pray that beomgyu couldn't tell you were lying. it doesn't seem like he did but everyone else definitely did.

"Oh well that's a pity," Rami says, jeez What was her problem. you might have been a little jealous of her beauty but what did she have against you?

"That's okay y/n, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait." beomgyu tells you, giving you a reassuring look, and patting you on the back.

"Well I dunno about you guys but I could really use a drink right now!" Rami says, only looking at beomgyu, then dragging him away by his sleeve towards the drinks station, looking you in the eyes the whole time.

"what the fuck" you say, crossing your arms while giving haerin the nastiest death stare.

you basically spend the rest of the party trying to watch the two of them without them noticing, a little thankful when your mom calls you asking where you are. in the end, Kai takes you home having to apologize for sneaking you out.

You had just turned 18 about a week ago, a d had celebrated with your family on a little holiday. But secretly, you wanted another person there to celebrate it with you, your best friend Daniel. He was your closest friend and always loved hanging out with him. He was kind and considerate and always listened to you. He was the sweetest guy you knew, but you never told him that he was your all time crush. He told you about his friend and karate teacher Mr Miyagi and told you that he had been learning self defence with him. He suggested you try it out some time, and of course, how could you not take up that offer.

Daniel introduced you to Mr Miyagi, and he was a funny and interesting character. You could tell that he and Daniel got on like a house on fire, and knowing how well they got on, you gave him a chance, and before you knew it, you were attending lessons with Daniel a lot. One day when you were sat outside the dojo after finishing a lesson, you and Daniel were just talking about this and that, and the fact that you had just turned 18, that's when his face changes. "Wait it was your birthday? Oh shoot I'm sorry I didnt get you anything, God I'm so stupid"

"Daniel dont worry it's ok, you didnt have to get me anything. It's just another birthday like the rest" "But your 18th is a special one, I feel bad for-" You rest your hand in his shoulder, and that immediately stops him talking, and he looks at your hand with a look of happiness. "Daniel please, its absolutely fine. Hanging out with you is more important than a present" You both smile at eachother and share a comforting hug. About 2 days later, your walking past a football park when you see a fight going on. And that's where you see Daniel, being beaten up by what looks like Johnny Lawrence.

Without hesitation, you jump over the gate and run straight over to them, and pull them both apart. "What the hell is wrong with you Johnny? Cant you go one day without trying to prove your the alpha male?" Johhny laughs at you, while you help Daniel up to his feet. "I'm just demonstrating to larusso who is in charge around hear, it's not my fault he cant take a hit" You brush a strand of hair away from Daniel's face and see that his is bruised quite badly. "Y/N I wasnt trying to start a fight I promise, but he took something from me and I was trying to get it back" Johnny takes a box out of his pocket, and waves it around. "Oh, you mean this? I didnt think you were one for jewellery larusso, this jewellery box looks very fancy"

You stand inbetween Daniel and Johnny, and give Johnny a hard stare. "You have to the count of 3 to give that back to Daniel, or you will regret it. 1..." Johnny and his friends pretend to act scared, laughing at you and Daniel. "Oooh be careful boys, the little girl is threatening us" "2...." "Try your best bitch!" "3!" And with that, you spin around and high kick Johnny square in the chest, making him jump into the air and fall to the ground, where you just manage to catch the jewellery box in mid air. Johhny lies on the floor in tears and his friends all laugh at him. "I warned you Johhny" You tell him, before walking with Daniel away from the football park. Once your both away from there, you talk to Daniel about what happened. "Daniel, are you alright?" "Yeh, yeh I'm, I'm fine"

"What made you want to buy jewellery Daniel? I didnt have you down as someone who wore that kind of stuff, I mean you dont even have your ears pierced?" That's when Daniel smiles at you, takes the box out and opens it infront of you, showing a beautiful blue bracelet with silver stars on it. "I was going to suprise you with this later, but it's my birthday present to you Y/N. I know you said you didnt need anything but, you...you mean a lot to me and....i wanted to get you something that symbolised how beautiful you were....how beautiful i see you" You cant belive your ears, Daniel had said the sweetest thing to you that you had ever heard. You feel so warm and happy inside, and without thinking you lean in and give him a quick kiss on his lips.

He looks so surprised at you, but then he starts to blush, and smiles nervously while running his hand through his hair. "I uhhh...I take it that you like the bracelet?" "Yes Daniel, I very much like the bracelet....but I also like you too..." "You...you do? Realy?" "Yes" He looks so relived to hear you say that, so instead of giving him another peck on his lips, you stand closer to his, place your hands against his cheeks and you both share a sweet and tender kiss together. When you both pull away, Daniel looks like he could faint with happiness, and smiles wider than he has before. "Thank you- I-I mean umm, that was nice!" You giggle at him, before holding his hand and guiding him down the road. "Come on, let's head to the dojo" And you both walk along happily, hand in hand.

You know i was wondering for the Papa ingo au, when Kamado told Akari was her fault the sky went red and all that and she did the walk of shame been scorted out of the village made me wonder.... did all the kids do that too?!?!??! Like imagine hiw hard would be for them! If for a 15 years old Akari was hard imagine for younger kids how it would feel?!?!? Like everyone looked at you like you did something wrong!! No one tondefend you nor your parents no one!! Yeah Cyllene Rei and Laventon making sure everyone is ok but still...

In case that didnt happend because i was also thinking that, since they were sent to Ingo from Kamado orders, maybe Ingo told them after he heards the news of Akari exile that they shouldnt come near the village.. idk man so many scenarios i am thinking, everyone were like "oknyeah better not get closer to that but we need to find Akari" all those kids idk doing secret base investigation to know where she is becuase they are desesperate to help Ingo or help her, maybe the older kids will try to do that

Also!!! Remember when you have to battle Beni?! Like he was and i quote "time to got rid of you once and for all" and "i'll make myself plain. As Kamado's right hand, i'm Charged with executing all the gritty deeds Kamado can't or won't do himself" like idk if someone talked about this before but can you imagine if Beni also tried to get rid of the kids?!?!?! While (because i saw injure ingo and kids taking care of him haha) Ingo was hurt and cpuldnt protect them?!?!? Like this kids had to join forced and do multiple battle with beni have to trow all their pokemon to do in their tiny lil hands to survive the battle aginst Beni!

Like think about it, if he only did the exile to Akari people wont view him as "the commander that exile the 15 year old girl and her lil kid friends" is like he knew or something to better send of those kids to ingo so he wouldnt have to deal with that problem, amd in case Beni actually fought the kids, when they returned to the village they would be kinda afraid of him or something idk man! I dont try to make beni or kamado evil becuase i know why they did all of that but still both Akari the kids and ingo would be very hurt that i feel would take time for everyone (the kids) to heal and trust them (Beni and Kamado) again, unless something more happened yeah maybe more actions than words but yeah i was thinking about that haha

I didn’t really think about this!! I’m assuming Kamado kicks out everyone, yes, but he might be harshest with the kids who were all survey corps members along with Akari. He strips all of their badges from them and sends all of them out. Kids in the village who aren’t survey corps members, but are doing things like helping at the dojo, or the farming fields, or the pokemon pasture, or the shops, all get orders to be sent out as well.

Kids outside the village, on supplies hunts, or Pokémon observations, don’t know immediately, will learn either by being barred from entering, or told by word of mouth from Ingo or the other kids who were sent out.

All of them are upset; some are sad, while others feel angered, naturally.

And oh man, I didn’t even consider Beni! You’re right, he did sort of set himself up to take you out :( no way he could manage taking on all of the kids at once, but would he go after kids who go too close to the village and just simply try to keep them away? But I’m sure he worked with some of the kids if they ever helped him at the wallflower, and that’s so sad to think about, Beni noooo ;-;

Evolution of Otae vs. Gintoki x Sacchan part one

gintama has 704 chapters and one of the most memorable running gags is sacchan riling otae up over ginsacchan endgame. This is a 3 part post where I trace an aspect of otae and sarutobi’s friendship that’s both hilarious and fascinating to me.

L64 Otose Snack Bar

First meeting of Otae and Sarutobi. Otae says that Sacchan’s application/omiai picture is cute. Otae, Sacchan and Catherine are all competing to be the replacement of Kagura, the show’s heroine. Sarutobi is already in love with Gintoki at this point and doesn’t suspect Otae yet of anything. Because GIntoki and Shinpachi couldn’t pick between them, both the ladies knock them out and proceed to walk into the moonlight.

It‘s the start of an interesting friendship.

L77 Infant Strife

Sarutobi immediately assumes that the child between Gintoki and Otae was their offspring. She immediately attacks Otae and calls her “not a woman anymore but a mother.” Otae retaliates by saying that Sacchan is a “one woman opera a B-movie script and that the child isn’t hers.” Otae exclaims that “no one would want to have a baby with that Loser (Gintoki)” Otae tries to get Gintoki to clear things up but finds him trying to escape. Otae throws him into a river and calls him the kid “his bastard child” and gintoki “a pig”. She also tacks on that she will stop Shinpachi from working with Gintoki (for being a dishonorable guy).

Otae invites Sarutobi to just hang out with her instead. Also I think she clear things up that the kid is not hers.

I think Sarutobi’s thought process was

“Otae wants to be the show’s heroine (from L64) --> Gin-san is bringing a kid that looks exactly like him and Otae is beside him --> Otae is also my competition for heroine --> heroine can also mean Gin-san’s woman --> Otae befriended me before but she actually wants Gin-san for herself --> to hell with you Otae, you conniving btch”

it’s a neat tie in to their last encounter XD

L98 Post-Benizakura Recuperation

Sarutobi stumbles upon one of the traps Otae set aside for Kondou. Sacchan thinks the traps are for her specifically and that Otae made them so that she will not bother GinTae.

Yamazaki then confirms to Kondou and Sacchan that Gintoki is temporarily staying in the Kodoukan dojo to heal from his injuries. Kondou complains that he can’t allow GinTae to live in one roof. Sarutobi encourages Kondou not to give up on stalking and says that even if she was happy for Gin-san fathering a kid (L77), she wont stop pursuing Gin-san either (coz she knows that otae wasnt the mom).

note: accdg to Word of God, Sarutobi starts to spy on the kodoukan dojo and otae after this

L103 Snowball fight

Sarutobi shows off her massive Gintoki snowman to Yorozuya. Gintoki is impressed by it. She demonstrates how it works by laying on the outstretched hands of the snowman. Because of her weight the arms break off causing Sachhan and her glasses fall. Blind as bat without glasses!Sacchan picks the broken arms and thrusts them accidentally at Otae who just arrived at the scene. The hands of the Gintoki snowman arms land on her chest. Otae gets pissed and her fist find Gintoki to send him flying.

Convenient for Otae to show up while Gin x Sacchan was happening lmao.

L128 Hostess Club / Shogun Introduction

Sarutobi picks the shogun stick of the shogun’s game. She immediately requests Gin-san to have sex with her. Otae smacks Sacchan with her foot because the latter was not playing by the rules.

note: in shogun/kings game you’re supposed to say “number xxx i order you to [smth smth]”, the fun in the game is that you dont know who’s holding which number. the shogun just kept getting the numbers that were ordered to do the tasks.

L138 Group Date

Kondou gets kicked by Otae to the ceiling after he showed up and objected to Gintoki’s planned Goukon. Sarutobi was lurking in the space between ceiling and roof, spying on Otae (or maybe following Shinpachi, idk)

This is the first instance we see Sarutobi stalking/spying on Otae. Because both stalkers were already aware of the Goukon, they invite themselves to the party. Gintoki kicks Kondou because he didnt want to include the stalkers in the first place.

L156 Weight Loss Arc

Sarutobi pops out of Otae’s ceiling when she overhears Kagura and Otae’s conversation. She insinuates that GIn-san’s back will break if he carries Kagura or Otae like a princess (most likely this jibe was directed at Otae again). Sacchan falls from the ceiling too because she’s overweight.

Otae: hey don’t destroy my house

--> it’s like the house is punishing sacchan for assuming about gintae again.

at the fasting dojo otae rags on sacchan to leave the dojo if she’s just gonna keep eating. Sarutobi responds by telling Otae that unlike Otae, she isn’t actually fat and in fact she’s carrying Gintoki’s baby. Otae responds by kicking her in the stomach “Congratulations you just give birth to puke.”

In infant strife arc, we remember that Sarutobi mocked Otae for “not being a woman anymore and downgrading into a mother, taking herself out of the competition.” While in Weight Loss Arc she proudly she says she’s pregnant and soon to be mother of Gintoki’s child lololol

OVERALL NOTES:

there’s a continuous back and forth of riling up between the two. It usually starts with Sarutobi insulting Otae and telling her that she’ll end up with Gintoki. Otae never responds kindly to insults and people calling her names so she retaliates at Sarutobi with violence.

AU where everything is the same but MK is downright determined to redeem every villain he comes across.

every time he fights some one he makes it a point to throw in as much “arent you tired of going apeshit?? dont you just wanna be nice?” type speech as possible. Wukong doesn’t really see the point but it isn’t hurting anything so he doesn’t stop him.

this of course, leads to the absolutely hilarious scenario of MK showing up at Macaque’s dojo the day after the Macaque VS Wukong fight, and leaving a gift basket and a note that just says “hey, just wanted to say sorry about how me and my mentor beat you up, that probably hurt, anyways if you ever need to talk i’m open to it so long as you don’t kidnap me”

and on the backside of the note theres a tiny thing that says “if you do kidnap me though, please do so on a saturday or wednesday after 5, since i don’t have work then”

MK has a bit of a hard time applying this Redemption Treatment to Spider-Queen, if only because she kinda freaks him out, but he still makes his best attempt.

...for Lady Bone Demon though, she induces too much panic for him to even think about redeeming her. ...he has some plans to do so, but whenever he gets near her those plans immediately fly out the window.

SO! this guy is in like LITERALLY every game but first originated in the art of fighters games before basically moving into the kof series! hes 5 ft 10 and 24, and like FUN FACT TIME before i hit personality: he's restored a motorcycle (mechanic moment! hes not one by trade as he's a dojo master!), he hates pickles and bugs w a lot of legs (i think he would like. scream at one. i think he should), he loves country music and his sister who hes like rly protective over (not in a weird way!). he also loves rice cakes and fermented soybeans! his hobbies r diy carpentry and like growing veggies n stuff at home!

"Ryo is the son of Takuma Sakazaki and Ronnet Sakazaki and the older brother of Yuri Sakazaki. Born in the city of Southtown, as Ryo was deemed to be Takuma's successor, he began his martial arts training at an early age. HEY HI HELLO

so answering all that will be long, so I'll put headcanons first, and how I came to ship them after.

well. I can't possibly list ALL headcanons I have about them, because the brainrot is real and I think about them 24/7, but dumping what i can immediately think of should still be sizeable.

also some of these are @saipng's but also mine. we are in this together. no literally we have a channel for headcanons and everything.

kazuma and herlock are the only people in each other's lives who can see through the other. all the bullshit kazuma offers to ryu, barok, and susato - is just 'girl rly' to herlock. likewise, kazuma learns to catch the slightest tells of herlock, and uses his logic to conclude how he actually feels. if it's bullshit, he calls him out on it, if it's a smart strategy, kazuma improvises for it. they each are a menace when it comes to keeping their intentions a secret, and funnily enough, they are each other's kryptonite.

canonically, ryunosuke is an impulse buyer, herlock is a shopaholic, and barok has certain standards in life. coupled with the van zieks wealth, kazuma often has to suffer through his space being invaded with some golden chocolate clock or some shit. he thought a room was his dojo, but now it's filled to brim with granite because herlock has a case.

despite all the wine he supposedly drinks barok is actually super lightweight, gets drunk from two glasses, and is an emotional drunk. that's why you don't see him actually drink it much in canon.

kazuma has a sensitive scalp and each of his boyfriends have discovered that in a vulnerable moment.

Also the Japanese pair of The Polycule are TINY compared to Barok and Herlock and sometimes they lift them to make a point. neither ryunosuke nor kazuma appreciate it when it's precisely to piss them off, but otherwise, ryunosuke gets kind of turned on.

talking about being turned on - the horny levels go ryunosuke >>>> kazuma > barok > herlock. i will not elaborate.

herlock is a super touchy feely person overall and will always have an arm around either one of his boyfriends. overall is the keyword though - occasionally he is straight up touch-repulsed and his boyfriends respect that too.

barok is secretly the softest of the bunch. at first he's like dont touch me. i am darkness. the great reaper of the bailey. grrr and then a month passes and he's lying in bed and his boyfriends are busy with whatever so he's like where are kisses??? kisses for the reaper??? you are cruel and unjust partners and you should all be sent to the gallows

when Ryunosuke is pissed at Kazuma he calls him Prosecutor Asogi. it sends a dread down Kazuma's spine like nothing else. whenever Ryunosuke's voice calls "Prosecutor Asogi", suddenly Barok has urgent business in the Lord Chief's Office and Herlock has found five new cases

susato gives the ‘don’t you fucking dare hurt him’ speech whenever ryunosuke gains a new boyfriend except that the speech is always directed at ryunosuke

kazuma's preferred method of gifts is creation, herlock's is invention, and barok's is finding the best of the best. ryunosuke sticks to buying stuff; he doesn't have barok's means, but he makes up for it in his thoughtfulness - he buys something that pairs well with sentimentality. for example, he'd get origami papers for kazuma, a recording of a song he would play alongside herlock's last composition, or a cheese plate to enjoy with barok one evening.

Since Kazuma hates eating birds and Herlock loves eating them, Kazuma always saves his share for him even if he could have refused having any. For example, if they were to attend a dining event and they are serving game, Kazuma will just slide his dish toward Herlock's

herlock keeps walking in on kazuma’s most embarrassing moments and kazuma hates him all the more for it

barok can’t lie. he can hide his emotions, he is VERY good at denying them, but he cannot tell an outright lie. it’s so painfully obvious when he starts to try and come up with something that everyone is honestly outraged at how this man was ever suspected of murder. when he was younger klint taught him to simply reply with ‘i cannot divulge that information’ when he couldn’t tell the truth and that’s his go-to phrase now

yeah okay that's enough for now. i can go forever with these four.

as for how i started shipping them -

predictably, i was a slut for asoryu from the first case on. coupling my horniness for best-friends-to-lovers and their unique personalities & chemistry, i fell hard. then herlock walked in and there is no heterosexual explanation for his interactions with ryunosuke - and i was ready to hate herryu for it. i thought it would be popular in the fandom (how is it not, honestly...), and thinking kazuma was truly dead, i feared it would follow the "he got over kazuma with herlock" narration; even then, i couldnt deny these fuckers were being very gay. i would later come to ship them hard anyway. then barok was out there saying repressed gay shit to ryunosuke like "those eyes please me", and we weren't even in the second game yet, where ryunosuke would undo him in the best way, save him and make him face himself. (honestly his vulnerability and flaws added him such depth, and for ryunosuke to be the one to expose them... divine.) then we saw herlock and barok canonically interact - clearly they are exes, snappy and full of venom, but also herlock obviously cares about barok, what with how he talks about him to ryunosuke? his thing with the collar, his goading ryunosuke to ask mael about barok's wellbeing, him assuring ryunosuke that mr. reaper is no actual reaper... then baraso enemies-to-allies thing came out of the left field and you're like holy shit. and heraso... my dear heraso. they didn't get much interaction at the first glance, but as my two favorite characters (and dare i say i know them well), I saw the potential for such a unique chemistry, which proved to be canon both in escapade 2 and tgaa pre-release extras. and, honestly, the way kazuma looked at herlock in the last case? HE BROUGHT LIGHT BACK INTO HIS EYES. kazuma deadass fell in love and you cannot tell me otherwise.

so clearly. if each one of them is a little gay for one another. they can all be in love, together.

so i told @saipng the one word, polycule, and life hasn't been the same since.

Hahaha Otae’s duplicitous like that. I mean that’s not surprising behavior especially after she brought ‘uglies’ in the group date episode. She’s the girl who’d step on others to get what she wants and she’s proud of it. She’d participate and take part in scams as long as it gives her money. At the drop of a hat she worked together with Yorozuya to swindle money out of Kondou in the town festival. I also never forget how she tricked Katsuo into thinking that she had everyone’s best interests at heart. Even in the timeskip she was on the way to meddle with Madao’s career too.

She’s never been a goody two shoes or preachy about womens’ rights and etc. She has always been the type that’s unfair. I think it’s not helpful to immediately slap ‘kindness’ and ‘gentleness’ in character portraits of her coz she definitely is more than those traits. If I’m watching a historical soap opera, she’s one of the main girls who smile sweetly at your face but work against you in the most cunning and hurtful of ways.

It’s okay if you do not like her for it. As for me I don’t mind her scamming vulnerable people that much coz it is consistent with her characterization. I dont praise her for it. But I do take comfort in knowing that what she does is within bounds of how sorachi intended her to be.

Regarding fatphobia in gintama. Oh man, it was already there in Harusame arc with Gyaru-girl and her boyfriend. The weight loss arc was fucked up in its messaging too, and then there’s Otae’s Taezap which reinforces the belief. Sorachi peppered his manga with unfair beauty standards. There’s fatphobia, negrophobia, transphobia, homophobia, ageism, anti-semitism, racism, name it you got it. It’s one of the things I gripe about myself.

But yknow these things says a lot about how Japan treats people like them. Fatphobia is Serious in japan. You have no idea. Overweight people are taxed (i think) more by their local communities (dont quote me on this but i know towns and cities do smth to them to encourage/shame them to lose weight). What u see on gntm is what u see on the ground in real life japanese society. That’s why it’s so fcked up.

This is platonic, do not worry lol!! thank you for the asks/requests!! i have looked at all of them and have them “queued” to write in my notes

❤️ This is something I started working on beforehand. I didn’t really bother with capitalization and whatnot with this piece, so this isn’t really my writing style. Let me know if you want another part to this or a specific headcanon for a younger! reader :)

-you followed Mikey into the sewers when you saw him kicking trash on the roof of your apartment building

-you were caught because... well, he’s a ninja. he isn’t THAT careless...

-he brought you back home since taking you home would be a super stupid idea, plus he just knew Leonardo was going to kill him!

-he tells his brothers immediately when he gets home....... maybe not immediately..... he has to butter them up first so they don’t hit him

-Raph still slaps the back of his neck

-you wake up to Mikey poking your cheek and see that three other turtles have joined him

-Leo is the scariest, Raph’s Batman voice intimidates you, Donnie is just... kinda there, co-signing, and Mikey tries to get Leo and Raph to chill because they’re scaring you

-you swear not to tell anyone about them and Donnie takes your phone to make sure you have no videos or anything of them and they disappear

-after school you tracked your phone with your old phone after heading back into the sewers

-Turtles were not pleased

-the story is long, but they agreed that you could keep coming down to see them as long as you never told anyone about them and called/texted before coming.... and you weren’t being annoying

-you don’t know what happened to your phone tbh but donnie gave you some sort of modified track phone to use instead while he made you a t-phone

-you texted Mikey mostly. he was really cool and felt like an older brother to you. he always made you laugh

-Donnie rarely replied, so you would have to call him..... not much to talk about at first

-Leo left you on read a lot

-Raph tries to make sense of your text messages... NY colloquialism is interesting sometimes and you tend to miss out when you live in the sewers

-Mikey is the one to escort you to the lair the first (technically second) time

-you bring candy from a corner store for him and his brothers hoping they’d start to be more welcoming

-Donnie has a bit of a sweet-tooth and accepts the peace offering

-Raph and Leo pass on that

-Mikey happily takes their portion

-they soon warm up to you and begin randomly checking up on you and inviting you over

-you eventually meet April

-she’s really nice and always tries to form some sort of close relationship with you. she’s like an older sister

-have a gaming console? bring it with you and introduce mikey to some new games, he will absolutely adore you for it

-bonding with raph is harder, but eventually you learn that you dont really have to talk much to do that

-just kinda walk into the training room and either join him (he’ll automatically want to help when you’re doing something wrong) or carefully crawl on top of his shell while he’s doing push-ups

-he’ll stop and tell you to get off, but when you simply refuse, he’ll shake his head and mumble something, however will continue

-this will become a routine/habit and you’ll sometimes vent to each other like that

-donnie lets you in his labs for school related things only (unless you’re really into STEM, then he’ll definitely allow you to come in more often)

-he gets frustrated with your math book bro

- “that’s... not the way you’re supposed to do it, donnie... they want us to do it this way.”

- “i don’t know that way! why would they change math?? math is MATH!”

- “i’ll just wait for April to get back...”

- “what??? well she wont understand it any better than i do!”

-leo, as intimidating as he seems, has grown fond of you from a distance. you seem to light up the lair with your youthful spirit. they’ve all matured in their own ways. yes, even mikey. it’s nice to have a change

-you’ll have to approach him first

-join him while he’s meditating. he’ll give you tips and may even strike up a conversation unrelated. he enjoys the company

-leonardo tells you stories and let’s you hold his katanas and sometimes wear his mask from time to time

-youve never seen the turtles in action. you knew they were ninjas though.

-they typically train towards the end of the school day, so if you decide to cut class, you just might catch them

-you’ll be in awe

-you silently sit beside a panting Donatello and compliment his skills, he’ll say thanks and then suddenly realize your presence

-you’re sent back to school lol

-or you just have to wait in the livingroom

-Mikey is actually the one who offers to train you and the boys actually think it’s a good idea since he’s really patient with you and he took the longest to learn the art of ninjitsu when they were little

-sometimes Mikey strays from the lesson, so be sure to remind him that you’re training

-Leo begins to supervise when he hears laughter in the dojo

-he eventually takes over and you actually learn a lot more faster and realize Mikey was going super easy on you and taking it really slow

-you won’t be sparring for a while. Leo doesn’t want you getting hurt. they don’t know their own strength sometimes

-you have the most gifts on christmas, ill tell you that

-the turtles are basically your big bros

-you can’t stay late!!! forgot to mention that. they will not allow it... unless you have a good excuse set for your parent(s)/guardian(s)

so i watched cobra kai all in two days and i have so many -

this show has so many cool and smart angles to it, but the same time.... its so stupid oh my god everyone is so dumb literally mr miyagi held all of the braincells in this whole universe

like i am but at the same time i am not surprised it was made like this, bc in hindsight of course there were hordes of ppl simping over johnny lawrence .... but it still amuses me that this is like... an Actual Official Thing

ok this will get long so cut it is

how much fun this cast has is super visible and i love it

i rly enjoy how the world was expanded ! i did grow up watching the karate kid movies, so watching how they progressed the world of the movies so organically was pretty cool. it rly feels like its the same universe

i fucking LOVE stories that are largely about a Thing. dancing ,skating, sports its just so thrilling to experience this all consuming relationship people can have with this type of activity? and martial arts are just that much more intense, so yeah, grown ass men kicking each other around at the lightest provocation and a war veteran caring so much abt teen karate is Ridiculous.... but i love it all because thats the intensity i find so thrilling

was kinda surprised with how much im missing mr. miyagi. first because, like everyone is so unhinged jesus christo, it just really throws into relief how much his character grounded the narrative of the movies. but also hes just a really great character

and on that note it rly Gets Me that the show itself aknowledges that and plays that into daniels angst and all the little ways they sorta weave myiagisms into the whole show........ im not getting emotional over this dumb karate dads show OK

ACE DEGENERATE oh god oh no

they really went down the down and out johnny lawrence route huh. like i was always kinda bummed we see kreese choking him and then we never see him again in the movies, and while i love dumpster fire problematic trash himbo ck johnny, its like......................... actually really sad that his life turned out like this fjngn

everytime i hear ‘babes’ and ‘pussy’ i die a little inside. i know thats the point but i am a v cringe easy person, have mercy (ehe)

loved the way they are constantly drawing parallels between johnny and mr. myiagi of all people. hes the handy man of his building that has a bullied kid asking for help and eventually steps up to teach them karate, beats up a bunch of bullies for him, creates a friendship with said kid, estranged from family, drinks his sorrows away, surprisingly one of the least quick to anger characters (which says more about everyone else really but.... Well.), no schemes or ulterior motives hes just tryna vibe here.... oh and ofc magically heals miguel of is asthma apparently. the true disciple.. meanwhile daniel is his usual messy petty self even tho he wants to be mr myiagi so bad

also interesting about that is how miguels character is a parallel of both johnny and daniel at the same time

overall the parallels in ck are done really well, drawing comparisons and also subverting them constantly. theyre well thought out

THE PARALELOGRAMS

fr tho, the angle being explicitly the cycle of trauma and its effects and how trumatized adults in turn traumatize kids, maliciously or not, is so interesting

but! on the flip side of that, it feels like the writers are getting in their own way @ letting the characters grow. especially this last season. theres only so many times you can do "johnny and daniel are getting along but 5mins later they are (literally) fighting over some dumbass random issue" or "johnny puts in 20% of effort with robby and then gives up" before it gets on your nerves yknow?

i see daniel no longer talks like macchio ingested 15 shots of espresso before every take and idk how to feel about that tbh

interesting tension in daniel, as in, in tkk mr miyagi was there and daniel was frankly, kind of a lil shit, this messy petty spitfire hot tempered sassy kid,(johnny lawrence voice: just... stop being so annoying) but now hes the adult, and he wants to be mr. miyagi... but hes just not, and never will be to his very core and it shakes him and in a way hes trying to find who he is now that he sees himself in a position to be a not! cobra kai figure. i kinda really like that

plus how that relates to his cobra kai trauma. idk if the writers thought abt it Like That, i think so, but in any case, its interesting bc it seems like daniel has told everyone whod listen about johnny lawrence his Pretty Boy Karate Rival and high school and 84 cobra kai... But. no one seems to know what went on in 85 (or 86? idk) which was just so much worse

like ye og cobras were shitheads, but tkk iii is just two hours of daniel being emotionally and physically tortured.

like, the third movie is.............chaotic, to put it nicely, and many people ignore it, but the writers clearly didnt. daniels actions are, in a way, responding so much more to the events of tkk iii than to the first movie ie. johnny himself, AND. daniel doesnt rly seem to have dealt with that trauma? he never told sam? doesnt feel like hes ever told amanda? he doesnt even say terrys name out loud? freaks Out over kreese ? the way he reacts to robbys deceit? his FACE when he walks past the new "fear does not exist in this dojo" paint or kreeses photo? hmMm i sense Pain

his fashion tho........... disappointing. where are the flower shirts daniel huh we had one (1) shirt what a tragedy STOP WEARING SUITS ALL THE TIME . also the band ts/grunge bi are a look for johnny but part of me longs for the preppy lovable 80s bully chic johnny lawrence getups

weird that they never used that last moment of karate kid where johnny kinda... snaps out of his anger and hands daniel the trophy almost in tears. like “youre alright larusso, good match” “thanks a lot” that being their last direct interection seems like itd be perfect fruit for cobra kai but... they just dont. weird.

especially when, the FIRST SCENE they see each other, suposedly in 30+ years, the first thing to come out of daniels mouth is QUOTE "u still got those golden locks huh?" WHO SAYS SHIT LIKE THAT DANIEL FUCKING SAN

also amandas immediate reaction "your pretty boy rival?" like. can we talk about the fact that daniel had to have imparted to his wife the very important information that his high school bully/karate rival was like Really Cute and Fucking Hot Actually

the writers Knew exactly what they were doing and honestly.............. power to them

also I was thinking that daniel sounded strangely fond in that first scene, and i wonder if he developed a weird affection for johnny on the grounds that of all of his Karate Rivals johnny was actually the only one who didn’t actively tried to literally kill him

i was actually delightedly surprised with how great the chemistry between them is, like from the get go i am Invested. their rl friendship totally bleeds through and its fantastic

. granted, idiots enemies to lovers friends is my Thing so i am biased

johnny lawrence: i am down in the dumps, i fucked up my whole life and my sons probably, largely in light of the trauma that the father figure sensei and the philosophy of my karate inflicted on me and all my friends. u know what i should do, as a traumatized, unreliable mess of an adult? teach that same philosophy to some other kids! what could go wrong!

but really i enjoy the setup of it. i kinda like that i watched it late because, season 1 was johnny setting himself up for failure in a way and it was exciting to watch it all go to shit sjfn

Like. his heart might be in the right place, but theres just.... not a way to teach something like ‘strike hard, no mercy’ and not have it fuck up a kid

case and point: aisha, miguel and hawk become annoying as all hell over that bullshit in the end of s1, even before shit gets truly fucked up

billys subtle panicked eyes when he sees hawk and miguel fighting dirty in the all valley was SO GOOD especially in parallel with the panic that is so visible in his face in the movie when kreese tells bobby to injure daniel and in the sweep the leg scene

seen people question wether kreese should have returned and i absolutely think he needed to. johnny needed to realize that cobra kais fundamentals are flawed, at the root, beyond kreese himself being a toxic piece of shit

also who are we kidding? we are here to see the tkk characters play on new playgrounds!

i get what they're doing abt kreeses backstory, ( also. cobra kai. pq eles caem nas cobras djjs sorry) but did it need to take up that much time? feels like they couldve done it in half the run time and developed some other stories better

aisha was cool and im kinda mad she wasnt in s3, especially bc a storyline with her tory and sam was like RIGHT THERE , but also... cant say i was super super fond of her... doesnt feel like we ever spent enough time on her

overall its a good cast but the main draw for me remains the og cast

the tory/sam miguel/robby Thing. enjoy how theyre Narrative Foils and i like how their stories were so dramatically entangled but oh god give me a break with the teenage love square for the love of god. if u gonna put us through that at least have the decency to not make it so straight

and honestly some sam/tory miguel/robby romantic tension would even make more sense. just saying!

also im not sure how i feel abt the cobra kai: red miyagi do: blue theyre going with since some of daniels most iconic looks in tkk are also red. like it was a color they (johnny and him) sorta shared. i get it, opposite but complementary but idk... a little too fire nation and water tribe for me .

and like the cobra kai kids are so funny abt it bc their outifts grow progressively more ridiculously coordinated. its like do they group chat every morning before leaving their houses?

robby still sticks out like that tho. he went thru an athleisure/daniel san tsleeves phase and now hes back in the bandts grunge, but his color scheme doesnt fully blend with the other cobra kais. hmmmm.

LOVED LOVED LOVED both the okinawa episode and the cobra kais easy rider episode just such good good heart aching fun

bobby is an icon. he was in tkk and he is now ck hope appears more and more

tommy is like the most iconic background character. all his lines, freaking gold then and now. sigh :(

the framing in the okinawa trip was so good everything was so good

i stand by the fact that kumiko was the love interest daniel had the most chemistry with and shes is overall such a joy to watch, loved to see her again, idola, fashion icon

also really enjoyed chozens role in the episode, his evolution; i love that they introduced the pressure points (ty lee the blueprint) and! the honk + karate! cousins! absolutely iconic

when kumiko reads mr miyagis letters........ oh my god, my eyes FILLED with tears, it was so heart wrenching :(( tamlyns delivery was so emotional and lovely and its so obvious everyone involved in ck has so much love and respect for pat morita and mr miyagi as character, and i adore that it exists like this electric current through the show

when we were watching i told my sister i thought that ali would be miguels big shot surgeon and ngl i am so disappointed that didnt happen. hire me cobra kai writers
