I’m supposed to be working on Christmas art, how did this happen.
Oh well.  I’ve seen a lot of artists discovering Betilla’s original design and reimagining it in their own styles, and it inspired me to doodle this lovely fairymom doing her duty as the Great Protoon’s guardian.
I did draw some Electoons in here but didn’t like how they looked in the end piece so I removed them.  Maybe Betilla’s just borrowed the Protoon to give it a polish XD

Sometimes I think about this, how much pressure did Rayman have to carry during all his adventures???
think about it....basically from the first game he carries the weight that if he doesn't succeed he will see his world fall into darkness....that is a lot for a child like the child who was rayman in rayman 1 would be, but It gets worse when you watch 2, basically the game takes place after the villain's victory....
basically rayman couldn't defeat the pirates, which led to them destroying the great protoon and imprisoning all the friends and innocent beings of the glade of the dreams...imagine how strong that must be...see how The world you fought for is totally destroyed, like everyone you loved was imprisoned or killed by pirates....and worst of all, having to bear part of the blame, WHY COULD YOU NOT BE ENOUGH? STRONG TO SAVE YOUR HOME...
Imagine all the traumas and emotional wounds that he surely obtained after this adventure, something that justifies his heavier and more sarcastic attitude that he has in Rayman 3, leaving behind his tender and totally innocent side that he used to have.
or the fact of carrying and being aware little by little, that YOU WERE CREATED TO BE A WEAPON AND THAT YOUR ONLY USEFULNESS IS TO BE A SAVIOR, that if something were to happen to you they could easily create another thingamajig superior to you with magic.. ...you are disposable...
BUT IMAGINE THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN FULFILL YOUR ONLY PURPOSE IN YOUR LIFE WELL and some simple rabbits humiliate you... damn, that's really strong if you think about it like that...
Now I understand why Rayman in Spark of Hope looks so bad...(you know his dark circles under his eyes that show his lack of sleep or care and his hair that to me seems to be all scared, or the fact that he is more bitter and serious, when well he didn't used to be like that...)

Headcanons on Mr. Dark or Raymesis?
I’ll do both!
Mr. Dark real name is unknown, someone just once sarcastically called him ‘Mr.Dark and brooding’ and the name just kinda stuck.
He was a menace long before stealing the Great Protoon, basically pulling really mean tricks and spells on the locals. Giving people rashes, starting fires, trashing their homes, just being really alwful. It wasn’t until he defeated Betilla that he became a major threat on everyone’s radar.
He likes sweets.
Is an arsonist🔥
Before he spided on Rayman he was watching Betilla and her sisters, learning their strengths and weaknesses.
He just is really angry at Rayman for some reason, not because the hero is trying to stop him, but a more personal issue that he isn’t aware of. Envy.
Mr. Dark is actually a Limbless just like Rayman. However something terrible happened to him in the past, which would’ve killed him. But he lived for some reason, wether that would be thanks to some dark evil power or just his pure spite, it’s hard to tell.
He is 100% aware of what he is doing.
He wears the cape and hat to hide his messed up body.
His Cape also doubles as a security blanket of sorts.
Likes to put little charms on his hat he finds neat.
He likes to fight smarter instead of harder
Next Raymesis/dark Rayman
He was created using the power of the great protoon.
He gained his own autonomy once the Great protoon was out of Mr.darks control.
Has a bit of an identity crisis, due to him being created to keep chase and destroy Rayman, but if he did this he became scared of what would happen if he actually completed his goal.
Due to the crisis mentioned before had sometimes the part of him that wants to chase down and destroy heroes, end up separating from him sometimes and takes the form of Shadow Ray.
Weird love-hate feelings for Rayman (platonic)
After the whole first adventure he tries multiple different hobbies, except the same ones as Rayman because he wants to be his own person.
Theater is ultimately his favorite. He loves being dramatic (probably got it from Mr.Dark)
He name himself Raymesis, he got tired of being called dark Rayman.
I imagine a scenario where one day Rayman gets sick due to a potion a teensie had him try. Raymesis decides the best why to introduce him self to Rayman’s friends is to pretend to be the bed ridden hero, and that he was fine, the potion really didn’t do anything at all. 😈
Rayman sees him as a weird cousin of sorts.
Loves plum juice.

Ray of Joy
Betilla had gathered all of the things she needed for the ritual: a living organism (she chose an eggplant), a vial of blood, strands of hair, a handful of lums and not to mention some beams of light that she had gathered in a small orb. Looking down at the assortment of items she had gathered, she sucked in her breath as anxiety began to wash over her. Sure, she was very well-known for being a resourceful and creative nymph, especially since she created magical prosthetic hands and feet for herself to make up for her lack of limbs. However, she couldn’t help but feel a flurry of worry buzz restlessly inside her, like a black lum.
This ritual was one of many tests that she had to pass in order to advance to the fourth level of magic. For this particular exam, she had to create life from a living organism. Everyone, especially her sisters and their father, the Magician, assured her as best they could yet she was hyper-focused and anxious about the whole thing. If she were to pass this practical ritualistic exam, she would be a few steps closer to becoming Steward of the Great Protoon. It was something she aspired for a couple centuries and she’d come so far, so succeeding this ritual was a top priority. Gathering the items proved an immense challenge for her, especially since she didn’t have enough energy for limbs. Regardless, she settled on making a living limbless being with hands and feet like hers.
“Okay, now where is that book?” she muttered, rummaging through her rucksack. She stopped and pulled out a light spell book and opened it, quietly muttering the instructions before moving onto the first step.
She grabbed the orb and cracked it open like an egg. The light from within began whizzing around her left hand as she began conducting their energy using her magic.
Next, she opened the sack of lums, all of which began fluttering around excitedly her illuminated hand before they all completely became lost in the flurry of light that she was generating. Her eyes widened as she watched the light grow brighter and stronger in her grasp.               She then chopped up the eggplant and ground it vigorously using a mortar and pestle. She set the mixture in a large bowl which was sitting in the middle of the room on top of a large purple placemat.
Upon reading the next step, she opened the vial of blood and took out a large syringe from her rucksack. While still psychically channelling the assortment of light beams and lums in her left hand, she used both hands to draw up the blood into the syringe. Next she pressed the plunger down over the mushy eggplant remains until every last drop of blood was gone. Some people would normally use a person or an animal for this type of ritual, but she wanted to use a different kind of organism instead as a more humane approach.
Finally, she carefully snipped off the roots of the hair samples and dropped them into the large bowl, like she was sprinkling cinnamon into a large tin of bread batter. Afterwards, she used her right hand and gently stirred everything together before lightly boiling the concoction over a hob.
Peering into her spellbook, she began manipulating the light beams and lums across her hands carefully, as if she was playing Cat’s Cradle. Soon enough, she found herself telepathically balancing a large luminescent orb above her hand. She pursed her lip in anticipation as she directed this orb to break apart and disperse into the bowl. Instantly, the bowl began to give off a brilliant glow as the mixture began to bubble and pop excitedly.
Betilla couldn’t help but smile excitedly as everything seemed to be going according to plan. However, that smile quickly disappeared when she noticed that the mixture was reacting too quickly, so she took it off the hob immediately and onto the middle of the floor.
“Okay, let’s see if we can stabilise it,” she grumbled, holding her hands out. Using her magic, she finally got the substance to settle down much to her relief. She then focused on forming the basic shapes for the creature, her brow pursed in determination as light began to fill the room.
Without warning, a sudden surge of energy surged through the room and knocked her back against the bookcase, causing several books and jars to fall, and causing various objects to disperse everywhere. Betilla struggled to get her bearings, however she was too disoriented and collapsed in a heap on the floor, passing out almost instantly.
A small, muffled high-pitched sound managed to stir her, which eventually grew louder as she came to. Looking up, she noticed the purple placemat was now in a heap in the corner of the room with something stirring beneath it. In fact the noise was coming from underneath it. As she stood up, she walked over to see what was under there and cautiously lifted up the now-frayed fabric.
She couldn’t believe what she had seen.
Underneath the tatty piece of material, was a small male humanoid creature, with a large nose, fluffy blonde hair, no neck, no limbs and its hands and feet just a few centimetres from his body. He was crying very loudly and snuffling, with his little hands balled up in terror. Stunned, Betilla gently touched the creature’s left hand, causing him to instinctively grab hold of her finger. Her heart melted when the baby looked up at her with his large wet eyes, driving her to gently pick it up and cradle him. Surprisingly, despite having no neck, this little boy’s head easily floated in sync with his body when Betilla picked him up. Once she gently rocked him a few times, his cries died down at long last and he started falling asleep, leading to her gently wrapping him in the scuffed remains of the placemat.
All the while, Betilla was still processing what had just happened. She looked down at this peculiar looking baby…thing, wondering how the hell this could happen. She wasn’t even concerned about the exam anymore, what on earth was she gonna do with him?
“There’s no way I can raise something this tiny,” she said to herself, or rather to the baby, “I mean, I don’t know anything about babies, I’ve never looked after something small like this let alone a –”
She stopped mid – sentence as she heard the tiny creature let out a small yawn and watched him nuzzle his head into the crook of her arm. As she smiled at this little fellow, who was only a few minutes old, she realised that her adoptive father probably had the same doubts and worries when he adopted her and the rest of her sisters. If he can manage raising five young nymphs and make them what they were now, then she would surely raise this baby thingamajig in her arms through thick and thin.
“Well, I guess if I’m stuck with you, I’m gonna have to think of a name for you, little fella,” Betilla said, “I don’t really have any ideas for names at the moment but…I guess given how you were made, I could call you Ray.”
The baby opened his eyes and blinked at her upon hearing his new name.
“Yeah?” she chuckled, “you like that name, little man? Rayman? My little Rayman?”
Ray’s eyes widened in response followed by a small coo, as if he was giving his mother a verbal approval to his new name. Betilla smiled affectionately and sighed in astonishment. She started her day worrying over becoming Steward of the Great Protoon and now ended up becoming a mother. Regardless, even if it wasn’t going to be easy, she was gonna give it her best shot.
The end

Rayman Head Canons: Rayman's Trauma
Rayman was a very social child yet had timid tendencies when faced with conflict. The only conflict he really had to face back in his homeland was certain species of wildlife or the occasional bully.
When Mr. Dark stole the Great Protoon and began his takeover, Rayman was about 15 years old. With help from Betilla and The Magician, his Parental figures, he managed to triumph against Mr. Dark. He was hailed as a hero and gained a courageous streak. He gained a sense of honor and wanted to help keep the world safe.
The Robot Pirate Invasion happened when he was 18/19 years old. The destruction of the heart of the world (Aka Primordial Energy Core) sapped a lot of magical power away from the citizens, and even left Rayman completely powerless. The powers gifted to him from Betilla years ago were now gone, and he was captured alongside many others. While in that cell, he honestly thought it was over for all of them. He thought they were either going to be enslaved for the rest of their lives, or killed. Having to witness the enslavement of his friends, his family, and even the children of the glade, as well as the lengths the pirates would go to get them, left Rayman suffering with trauma related episodes.
He suffered reoccurring nightmares about the event, sometimes severe enough to where he would wake up in a sweat and panting. Sometimes he would have to call his friends so he could talk with them until he felt ready to go to sleep, or would ask if they or he could come over for the night. Rayman also suffered panic attacks.
After the defeat of the pirates, Rayman was given time to help recover from the events. He had a huge support circle that helped him. The major supports in his circle were Globox, Ly, Betilla, and Murfy.
Rayman had gotten enough help to where it wasn't a constant flare up by time Andre came around to cause trouble. Rayman was just tired, a little jaded, but still loving life and his friends 'n family. Having to evade the knaarens was the scariest thing about the quest for this guy, but he managed to pull through. He's now protected by the Knaaren people by decree of King Gumsi.
The battle against Reflux did take a toll on him. He inadvertently defied one of his primary morals: never kill a foe. Reflux's death lead to him (Reflux) being heralded as a heretic and a traitor of his people, and left Rayman once again suffering some trauma. He would seek comfort in his support circle, and managed to bounce back once again.
Many have asked why Rayman sticks like glue to Globox and Murfy. It's because they would always drop whatever they were doing whenever Rayman needed it. Globox is the comforter, Murfy is the listener.
Rayman still has an occasional nightmare, but they rarely get to the point where he has to call someone. He has a deep fear about his enemies targeting his kids if he ever starts a family. Anytime the globox kids, or anyone Rayman considers his kid are targeted, It can leave him suffering from panic attacks.
This happened at least once when the Rabbids took him hostage and captured a number of Globox's kids to use for their sports. What they did to the Globox kids is primarily why he is very distrustful around Rabbids in general. He considers what they did to him an annoyance, but what they did to the kids is not going to be forgiven so easily.

Mr. Dark is great cause he's an a evil dark sorcerer that lives in a bright and cheery place made of candy called Candy Chateau that's filled with clowns.
I mean it makes sense no one would every suspect an evil wizard to live there plus he can eat all the candy he wants (I like to think he has a sweet tooth)
it's actually a great contrast and fails our expectations. Like everyone would think that this location has a candy-themed boss or smth but no it's a fucking evil sorcerer that's the one who stole the Protoon (and Betilla too)

There should be more talk as to why the Nymphs’ portrayals are problematic in Rayman Origins. First off, it’s not the fact that they’re “sexualized in a kids’ game.” I get it. Huge features. Sexbomb. All the raunchy jokes in Rayman 3. Rayman is not just for kids, I know. My issue with the Nymphs is the blatant misogyny and objectification.
I wouldn’t have a problem with two, three, or four of the Nymphs being sexy, but all of them are, cuz that’s how women are supposed to be. Each wears extremely skimpy clothing with unrealistic body proportions. There’s even one wearing a mini dress in the snow. Compared to the original Betilla and Ly the Fairy, the Nymphs are kinda just there. While they do offer Rayman new abilities to progress further, they don’t really serve much to the game. The Nymphs were designed out of nothing but male horniness. The E3 trailer where Rayman looks up his mom’s skirt and she quickly gets used to it, as if that’s supposed to be funny, is really telling you. 🤢 Poor Betilla. Instead of giving her a proper comeback, they turn her into gamer nut fuel.
Putting all the sexualization aside, I’d also like to talk about how the only role they play in the game is being helpless damsels in distress. Again, there’s nothing wrong with having a female character who is unable to defend herself, but not when it’s done with ALL of your female characters! Especially if they’re heavily sexualized. It delivers the wrong message that pretty women, by default, are weak, dumb, and passive. Betilla in Rayman 1 has actually attempted to fight Mr. Dark in order to protect the Great Protoon, while serving as a helpful guide to Rayman. Ly The Fairy plays a similar role, but she also gives Rayman physical exercise to boost his health, not to mention saved him from falling to his death! Meanwhile, the Nymphs, well, are introduced in the game as helpless victims. Then when you free them, you gain new abilities, and then that’s it. That’s all the Nymphs have a purpose for.
The following subject, that may be a bit of a stretch, but remember how I mentioned that the Nymphs reward Rayman with new abilities after you free them? Some might argue that they want to help put the bad guys in their place, and I can totally see that. But it also conveys the idea that a pretty woman will give you something in return if you provide a good deed for her. Kinda like the average “nice guy” who expects more than a kiss after taking a lady out to dinner.
The Nymphs aren’t the only female characters in Origins, though. We also have the zombie granny, the only one without big bajingalings or huge hips, and can actually fight, who is both evil and revolting. Sort of like the “angry, ugly feminist” stereotype. While it’s nice for Ubisoft to introduce Barbara in Legends, a badass, Barbarian human Princess with scars, I feel not much justice was done with her as she is still sexualized and doesn’t hold much to her character other than “girl boss.” In my opinion, Barbara is not that interesting to me. (I’m also against humans existing in the Glade of Dreams, as it doesn’t make any sense) Like the Nymphs, she’s just there. Ubisoft was too lazy to flesh-out her character, and just slapped her onto the game as a way of saying, “See? We’re not sexist! Look at our new female character who can fight and defend herself! Now stop being triggered.”
Now, you’re still allowed to like Rayman Origins! And I’m not gonna shame you for thinking the Nymphs are sexy! But it’s important to be critical about the misogyny present in the game. It doesn’t help that Ubisoft also has a terrible reputation for mistreating female employees, and women in general.

Mr Dark: WITH THE GREAT PROTOONS POWER I SHALL TAKE THE GLADE OF DREAMS AND TURN IT INTO A LAND OF DARKNESS AND NIGHTMARES WITH ME AS IT'S FEARED LEAD-why are you blushing?

all this time the url protoon was available and I had no idea. i could've just been protoon. I feel like I should explain to non-rayman followers but electoons are the little beings that make up everything in the Rayman games. electrons but make it toony. and the being that holds everything together is the Great Protoon (proton). it's silly and I love it
so I grabbed the url so maybe I will change it to that. I like it because it can be a Rayman reference or it can just let everyone know that I am in favor of cartoons. I'm pro-toon

To add on to my head canon that Mr.Dark is the manifestation of Fears and nightmares of the people in the Glade. Is that it also plays into his behavior it’s like he’s made of the fears of adults but it also includes children’s fears as well.
If you know kids their fears can range from something silly to downright terrifying. This applies to Dark. One day he’s affable and silly stealing a cake recipe then another day he’s scary like stealing the Great Protoon or trapping everyone in a art portrait
My own HC is kinda similar, Mr Dark in my version has moments of being about as intimidating as a hamster and threatening the very existence of literally everything (My current working backstory is he decided to mess around with concentrating nightmares into one place and in fucking around, thus found out) but for me it's moments of lucidity with him, where he's not Mr Dark but the Fairy that he once was.

Fun fact:
I call Rayman's species Atom People!
It goes along with the atomic theme the rest of their world seems to have with the Great Protoon and the Electoons, it would just make sense imo.

I just wanted to infodump about a Rayman headcanon I came up with a few years ago when I was heavy into the fandom. Because it *has* been a couple of years, it may need some updating. (Copy pasted from my Deviantart) Instead of Rayperson or Raypeople, I'll be referring to Rayman's kind as 'Thingamajigs', or 'Thingy' for short. And because this is based off of a game with shaky continuity, there will be some things that don't perfectly align with what happens in the game. TL;DR At the bottom.
Creation:
There are a few different colors of Lums with each color performing a unique purpose. Since The Heart of the World/The Great Protoon was once a singular object, and when broken, only broken into 1,000 pieces, I don't consider the Yellow Lums a part of the creation process. When Betilla (and company) created Rayman, they had a sack of lums and it wasn't specified exactly how many they were, or which were used. The manual description says he was created using Lums and the trailer for Origins shows Betilla rubbing a singular, large orb that looks like a giant Yellow Lum that bursts into six smaller yellow Lums. I'm willing to consider this the same as what happens when you combine all of the colors of the light spectrum and it appearing white as a result. I figure that the composition of each Thingamajig varies and the outcome is determined by which Lums are used and how many. Each Thingamajig requires at least one red lum, but more is recommended or else they'll be very prone to 'bursting'.
Lums In Creation: (The more Lums of one color a Thingamajig has, the stronger the associated trait)
-Red Lum: The more Red Lums that a Thingamajig if made of, the higher the stamina and the more resilient they are. -Purple Lum: Athletic Thingamajigs are made with many Purple Lums -Blue Lum: If a Thingamajig is made up of many Blue Lums, they can hold their breath for a very, very long time which is great for Thingamajigs who live nearby or in water or high up on mountains. If a Thingamajig has the ability of flight, this could instead mean they can fly higher and glide/hover much longer than a flying Thingy with less Blue Lums. -Green Lum: Many Green Lums mean that a Thingamajig has great memory and this usually means the Thingamajig has a lot of knowledge and experience saved inside of them. -White Lum: Similar to a Green Lum but instead of granting memory, White Lums make their owner clever and resourceful. -----Lums Not Used in Creation: --------Yellow Lums, Silver Lums, Black Lums
Lums Role After Creation:
After a Thingamajig has been created, like all living things in The Glade of Dreams, they are connected to The Heart of the World/Protoon but because they are made of Lums, their connection to the heart is very strong. All Lums emit an energy with the highest concentration being around The Heart of the World/Protoon so long as it's intact. Their whole world is filled with this invisible energy and is felt by everybody, whether they realize it or not, with the Thingamajigs being more intact with this feeling than others. The balance between Lums is always perfectly balanced unless somebody is messing with the balance, as has happened on several occasions. Every Lum emits and absorbs the exact same amount of energy, with the exception of The Heart of the World/Protoon while it's intact. This is achieved by how they are all connected on a world-wide, invisible blanket of energy. When a Thingamajig is hurt, their energy is forced out of them and dispersed in an evenly distributed burst. Displacement equalizes the energy and this all happens a blink of the eye. A Thingamajig can restore their health by absorbing the energy of a Red Lum. If a Thingamajig is ever hurt so badly that all of their energy is forced out of them, they 'burst' and their Lums are scattered, much like what happens with The Heart of the World/Protoon. A Thingamajig cannot be recreated using any random Lums; they must be recreated by finding their original Lums and putting them back together in the Primordial Forest where they were created. These Lums also cannot be absorbed by other Thingamajigs but they can be used to create a new Thingamajig, though they may have bits of memories from their past owner. However, to do this is a great insult to their original owner as it's seen as discarding and replacing the original, even if hope has been lost in finding the rest of their Lums. It's considered more honorable to simply store and keep safe the Lums until they all can be reunited, even if it takes the rest of time. These Lums are usually set up somewhere like an altar to honor the Thingamajig. A truly dastardly foe may intentionally hide Lums to prevent a Thingamajig from being re-created, but they cannot destroy a Lum. No being (except maybe for Polokus) can destroy a Lum, they can only be dispersed as energy. To disperse a Lum takes power and malice not before fathomed in The Glade of Dreams. Fortunately, if a Thingamajig is burst apart, their Lums can be heard singing a faint, melancholic melody as if calling out to each other mournfully. In the extremely rare or unlikely event that a Lum is dispersed, their energy is distributed through the world through other Lums acting as sort of 'hubs'.
New Lums can be created and it's not understood how or when the Lums do this. New Lums are created when enough of them have been absorbed by a Thingamajig and the energy is essentially recycled through Thingamajigs. This does not apply to Yellow Lums, though it's thought that the absolute basis of every Lum is the energy of The Heart of the World/Protoon..sort of like a 'primordial ooze'.
Thingamajigs and Lum Energy:
While Lum energy is equally dispersed and absorbed at any given time between Lums and the beings in the Glade, it is possible for beings to harness extra energy. Harnessing extra energy occurs under special circumstances. When a Thingamajig is topped off on all of their Lums, they possess that energy plus a little extra that's generated by the filled Lums within them. This is important because this allows a Thingamajig to become a vessel for another who is injured should they not have Lums to replenish themselves. If a Thingamajig with excess energy is nearby another who is hurt, their excess energy will automatically be shared with the injured Thingamajig, but no more. This also gives the Thingamajig a buffer if they get injured themselves and there are no Red lums nearby. (Like in Mario when you gain an extra mushroom, you get hurt and it drops down for you to grab it)
"Lum Light"
Lums emit a light but here, Lum Light refers to intense emotions that cause for the light to become so bright that the Thingamajig glows from their bodies and their energy leaks from them. This happens with any intense emotion but whether the emotion is positive or negative effects them and others around them. If the emotion is negative, the Thingy can actually 'drain' energy from nearby Thingies. But if the emotion is positive, others can absorb the energy being emitted from them and gain excess energy they could only otherwise get from having all full Lums. Fortunately, they don't give or take enough energy to seriously harm or burst another Thingamajig. Rather than viewing it as a negative that one can be drained of energy by a Thingy experiencing negative Lum Light, it's viewed as a positive thing and as a form of consoling another. If a Thingamajig is experiencing negative Lum Light while their energy is full, they will simply cycle energy between each other with the other. If the other Thingy has less energy than the one experiencing negative Lum Light, they won't take energy from them, only cycle, and will come out of the experience with the same amount of energy as before.
A very special thing happens when Thingamajigs experience Romantic Lum Light. This can happen between multiple Thingy's but for the sake of simplicity, I'll explain it using Two. (note, this can also occur regardless of a Thingy's sex or gender) When two (or more) Thingy's both experience intense, Romantic Lum Light, and all of their Lums are full, their excess energy combines and is stored in one of the Thingamajigs, usually whoever is feeling the emotion most intensely. It's thought that this is not because they are 'more deserving' due to how they're feeling at that moment, but because the flaring energy overpowers the other and just overcomes and absorbs the energy of the other. This unique event is the only time a Thingamajig can store substantially more energy than usual, even more than when their Lums are full and generate a little extra energy.
The time it takes for a new Thingamajig to form depends on how often the parent Thingamajigs engage in intense, romantic Lum Light, but also whether or not the carrying Thingamajig maintains that energy because they *can* lose the energy through injury or physical exhaustion. If they lose energy, they need to replenish it and depending on how close they were to creating another Thingamajig, may need to collect more excess energy. When it's time, a new Thingamajig is created in the form of a light that emerges from the carrier's body then takes shape, much like how we see Rayman formed in the trailer for Origins.
The new Thingamajig will possess randomized traits from the parent Thingys, and whichever traits they posses will mirror those of the parent they got the trait from. If two or more of the parent Thingy's have many Purple Lums within them, the new Thingamajig could be as strong is the parent with the most Purple Lums, or only as strong as the parent with the least amount of Purple Lums, or between; it's randomized which parent they'll take this trait from.
New Thingamajigs are quite capable after creation but have a smaller, more baby-like appearance and all around existance, somewhat like Rayman's original design. They do age and upon reaching 'adult' age, they cease to age much like Rayman and other Thingamajigs. Because Thingamajigs appear to be virtually immortal and invincible (save for being burst but they can be brought back so) they don't often create new Thingamajigs. They do, however, engage in romantic Lum Light for the same reasons that humans engage in romantic activities.
I should add that all of the Thingamajigs present in the start of the creation of the new Thingy need to be present to finish the creation of the new Thingy. If there are, say, three Thingamajigs originally, two of them can engage in romantic Lum Light, but the creation won't progress with one of the three missing, even if the carrier is present. If two of the three wish to remain together while the third has departed but they wish to create a new Thingamajig still, they can allow for their excess energy to deplete completely and start over. They can also prevent the creation of a new Thingamajig without using depletion by engaging in Lum Light with another Thingy once, then continuing with another partner and thus putting the creation process on hold indefinitely, but most who do not wish to have multiple partners simply use the depletion method which could be as easy as simply standing nearby another Thingy who needs energy.
Conclusion (TL;DR):
Lums play a large role in everything within The Glad of Dreams and especially play a huge role in the creation, upkeep and propagation of Thingamajigs.
Each Thingamajig is created using a variety of Lums in a variety of configurations which ultimately determine that individuals strengths, weaknesses and often times, personality.
When a Thingamajig's Lums are all full and healthy, the Lums generate extra energy which can be used by the Thingamajig themselves or another who's nearby and in need of the energy. The other cannot dip into the others energy beyond the extra that's generated by the full, healthy Lums within them. When a Thingamajig is experiencing intense emotion, their Lums glow brightly and they leak energy which others can absorb if the source emotion is positive, or will sap excess energy from others nearby if the source is a negative emotion. If there is no excess energy to be absorbed, then the Thingamajigs will simply cycle energy between them and come out of the experience with no more or no less energy than when it began.
A Thingamajig can be burst by depleting them of their Lum energy which causes their Lums to break apart and fly off in different directions at great distances much like when the Heart of the World is shattered. Their Lums would need to be located and then brought together in the Primordial Forest for them to take their form again, even if they weren't created there. The strong connection to the Heart of The World is needed in order for reforming to be accomplished.
When two or more Thingamajigs experience intense, romantic emotions, and their lums are full, the Thingamajig experiencing the emotion most intensely will absorb the extra energy from the other(s) and store this energy until they have enough for a new Thingamajig to form in the shape of a bright light from their torsos that takes shape once fully emerged. The timeline depends on how often the parent Thingamajigs engage in romantic Lum Light with full Lums and whether or not the Thingamajig carrying the excess energy maintains the excess energy between instances of romantic Lum Light.
The new Thingamajig takes traits from the parent Thingy's at random and are quite capable from creation but resemble a younger, baby-like even, Thingamajig not too different looking than Rayman's original design. They cannot speak right away but are quick learners and they will age up until they reach 'adulthood' where they assume their immortal like existence. Because Thingamajigs are presumably immortal and arguably invincible, they don't often create new life but may enjoy romantic Lum Light with each other the same way humans enjoy a 'date night'.

I need to talk about Mr Dark…..
Well, Razorbeard and Andre, they are simply incredible villains, what can I tell you not to know about these villains, they are charismatic but they also impose fear or a challenge, in addition to being very important in the story, appearing on more than one occasion, or complicating it life to rayman, it is not surprising that they are very loved, but then we have mr dark….
The word I would use to describe it is, disappointing…… Mr Dark is not very creative in both design and concept, he is just a dark lord who wears a cape… well, I think there are many of them, this It doesn't make it immediately disappointing, because well it's still an interesting idea although not new and in the world of Rayman it's very good to want to use a concept like that, you can do many interesting things with a character like Mr Dark.
but well…mr dark does not have a history or a bit of development or anything that makes it interesting…for example razorbeard and the robo-pirates, they are extremely interesting for several reasons, for coming from outer space, for having defeated to Rayman, because they appear on more than one occasion and you can feel a real danger with them, they have personality and will not hesitate to try to kill Rayman, they are simply great, then Mr Dark…well it only seems that he takes the Seriously, Rayman's business, until the end of the game… which leaves it looking like something silly.
It's really a bit sad that you don't see Mr Dark, except at the beginning and end of the game and you only fight him in a very short battle that doesn't live up to the name of the final boss of a game like Rayman. ….
If what disappoints me the most about him, apart from his lack of personality, is that he is a great joke, look to be able to fight against Mr Dark, you have to beat the entire game at 100%, having to fight with bosses like Mr Sax or Space mom, still beat the world of candy, it is not an easy world, beat dark rayman and the curses of mr dark, you have to go through all that suffering and one would think that mr dark, THE VILLAIN WHO HAS THE MOST POWERFUL RELIC FROM THAT WORLD, it would be a really difficult and epic battle, but what do you find…..a battle that does not do justice to the name of final battle, it is somewhat difficult I admit, but come on it does not compare to space mama or mr sax in my opinion…..
It really seems that this battle is missing several phases… I mean it is unfortunate that Mr Dark, having such a powerful source of power, does not use it, leaving you to fight with some chimera bosses, what a great challenge they are, for this point in the game…..and after you defeat these, mr dark simply runs away, leaving the great protoon, this really makes mr dark look very bad, compared to razorbeard or andre, who have more final battles how epic
In general, Mr Dark has no personality, nor does he do much in history as the villain he is supposed to be, he has a simply pathetic boss battle, if he has no comparison with Rayman's other villains… Mr Dark is wasted potential, wherever you see it…
because well it definitely meant more, with the fact of stealing the great protoon, or his ability to create dark and bizarre creatures like dark rayman or the boss's chimeras, or his fire magic, but well it didn't really give much… With this I don't mean that I hate him or that he's bad, because in fact I like him xd, but I would never say that he is in the top 3 best Rayman villains, because in that place they belong to razorbeard, reflux and Andre, I just want To say why I personally am disappointed by Mr Dark as a villain in Rayman.

Here's an older Demona to go along with the second game and it's story.
Considering how dark the story was written for Rayman 2, her role would be considerably small in this hypothetical.
Despite the Great Protoon being destroyed, Demona's powers aren't affected at the loss compared to the people of the glade. As such, she put herself in the front lines to fight Razorbeard and his minions to the best of her abilities before finally being captured and imprisoned in a separate cell specially made for her.
Upon figuring out that Demona could still use her powers without issue, he devised a plan to use this to his advantage.
Placing her into a medically induced coma and inserting her into a special machine, the energy that flowed and naturally regenerated as she slept functioned as a living battery that could power additional robotic soldiers.
When you go to rescue her, you'd find her prison just before challenging Razorbeard for the final boss fight.
Freeing her from the machine would result in Demona happily embracing her friend as he carries her away to a nearby portal. Dropping her off with the others for safe keeping.
Before you leave to fight Razorbeard for the final time, Demona will offer her remaining energy to Rayman, buffing his overall stats and sending him off with a kiss on the cheek for Goodluck.
(Yes, this will become oc x canon).

Rayman Character Lore: Ales Mansay
Ales Mansay was planned to be the original Magician. The one from Rayman 1 that transformed into the evil teensie that he is in origins and Legends. I decided against it, and the Rayman 1 version got added into Rayman Retold as a unique character just referred to as "The Magician" who is Rayman's father figure and Betilla's love interest. The Teensie version is Ales Mansay.
Ales attended the same magic academy as The Magician and his cousin. He attended the academy alongside Raymona and the two were often study partners. He's always been the Mr. Dark fanboy and wasn't very popular at the academy because of it. Raymona was his only friend. Even after they graduated, they still kept in touch.
After Mr. Dark was defeated in Rayman 1, he spent many long years trying to recover since the defeat, paired with the loss of the great protoon, exhausted of much of his magical ability and strength. Ales kept in constant contact with Mr. Dark and works as his underling while he recovers on the sidelines. Ales dreams of being on equal level as his idol, while Mr. Dark considers him a giggling imbecile.
Part of that work was when he took in Raymesis (aka Dark Rayman) while Mr. Dark was in recovery, much to Raymesis’ displeasure. Only reason Raymesis agreed to go work with Ales was because Mr. Dark wanted eyes kept on the teensie. Ales and Raymesis don’t get along very well at all. Ales gave Raymesis a room to stay at his workshop and keeps him fed, but not much else. Most of the possessions Raymesis has in that room came from Mr. Dark. Ales and Raymesis just tend to ignore each other and give each other space until Ales gives him orders that he will carry out begrudgingly.
Mansay’s the “true teensie magician.” The dark teensies that took his likeness from Rayman Legends are not really affiliated to him. They just look and act like him. Ales considers the dark teensies to be bothersome and highly annoying copies, as well as pretenders. At least he doesn’t have to worry about them anymore, since they got jettisoned to one of the nearby moons and are being tortured during their time spent there. You don't see them after that and Mansay’s glad to be back to being “One of a kind,” in his words.
Ales speaks English, but his native tongue is Fay Latin. While in most circumstances he speaks English, he has moments where he reverts back to Fay Latin. It usually happens when he’s excited, angry, or terrified. When its not simply reverting back accidentally, he uses Fay Latin when he thinks people won’t understand him and will often to make insults or personal jabs at people.
Ales' favorite music genre is Disco. He has a bunch of cds and will play them often while working. Behind closed doors he will break out the cheesiest disco dance moves. If someone catches him doing this, he overreacts by screaming and ordering you to leave before slamming the door.
