One of the first attempts at sculpting the boy; the head was later altered quite a bit and the legs entirely scrapped, and the torso bulked up shaking my shoulders feverishly: we need to properly represent his 110 cm bust and what we have isn't cutting it. Scabbards were made (which survived till the end!) and the original clay swords were made by this point.
New torso and legs give (hallelujah), as well as the loops and holes for the ears (such finicky small work, fuck me) were made. Holes were first made with straight wire and dried before the hoops were gently (and with swearing) inserted through.
Clothes added, also with swearing as the clay dried and stiffened faster then I wanted to and made it hard to get nice folds. Scarf was re-made and smoothed later.
Scabbards added! Immediately drops it and breaks a piece of it off. I've glued multiple bits of the scabbards back on the flimsy bastards. He remained armless for a good while. A Venus on the shelf by my desk...
Because the clay sword (after a good hour of tender focused work) would IMMEDIATELY would break upon the lightest touch, annoying me to no end, one evening was like God I wish I had actual metal to use instead wouldn't that be cool, and then was like OH! I COULD DO THAT! So the metal is actually cut from the tin of a cat food can, straightened and sanded., as seen in photo!

ARMS! and the sculpting is finished. Onto painting!
First layers of paint on various parts; I generally paint via colours I'm using at the moment (ie, greens in this instance)
More layers laid down. I generally go for shading in rules of three (main colour, lighter, and darker hues) and apply them at different opacity of acrylic. Adjusted the green since I found it too pungent. Once the fur tones were finished I gave him his stripes (cue me searching up loads of photos of tigers and tiger fursonas to see how people have done the stripes. Did you know depending on the area they are from they have different face shapes and stripe patterns? Fascinating stuff)
Finished project! Last layers, and highlights where added, adjusted the eye and fuck-ups re-adjusted. Dropped and had to reglue things. The gold is actual gold leaf I applied using a glue you paint on but that was a bit of a whole mess and took a long time, and doesn't go on very flat on very not-flat surfaces... (Who would have thought...) In the future may instead use gold paints for metallics.

i'm in the middle of painting my bedroom, which is going Eh bc i want a very specific colour, but the lightbulb colour + basement darkness has made this an annoying trial and error in paint matching. however, i discovered only now in my life that plain ol' black + regular old yellow makes green.
i didn't know that??? i feel like... i shoudl've known that. was i not taught this when i was 8 or something?? it's making me feel 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ that i didn't know? it makes such a good green too
i hate this bc i feel like it was something that—now that i'm looking at it swatched out—i'm like "duh yeah, that's obvious, you knew that." but i just spent 4 days in a paint-fume-fuelled mania mixing greens, yellows, blues, reds, coppers, whites, blacks, etc to find a Perfect Green, and she was there in 2 colours all along...
#jj stuff#my issue is it's Dark as all fuck down here but i have those warm yellow edison bulbs and i'm not willing to compromise on them#so i've had to lighten the absolute fuck out of the deep green i wanted#and it looks 😬 to me in normal/white light#but under the yellow lights it makes it *chefs kiss* to me#this unfortunately has stalled me on a ceiling colour bc i had Plans#to do a rich green wall + a rich/dark blue and add metallic gold constellations to it#so it'd be like being cocooned in a leaf staring up at the stars#but now i'm worried a blue ceiling will change the wall colour Too Much#like how i painted my other room BRIGHT as fuck yellow walls + bright blue ceiling#and at the right time of day the whole thing turns a toxic green#(which i loooove)#ok i'm talking so much sorry if you read this far *gives you two dollars*

The way that the sun hits leaves and clouds. I feel like I could watch the colors change forever. If I could slow down for that long.

I set out to develop an oc trying to figure out how to make a green color palette interesting when I don't vibe with how it'd look on armor (im sorry boba fett...) & messing with character creator picrews suddenly lead to a gold and white palette and now she's a yellow character instead of green. Dovewing eye discourse but I'm only having it with myself
#thinking about my design for her and i know i want to do the thing where her eye color changes as she uses her powers#but idk what i want her default color to be and what the power color should be#ive always adamantly not liked blue eye dovewing bc that makes her look too much like jayfeather and like.#this is gonna sound hm? but i think of the three as all having different coats and different eye colors to bounce off of each other#bc then when you draw all three together then they all pop out#you got the blue aura around jay and the yellow aura around lion and the green aura around holly or dove#and thats why i was a green eye dove truther as a kid#so i feel like her powers should activate and her eyes turn green. maybe even bc shes inherited holly's power#but also i like that being her natural eye color. idk she looks nice with it#and gold is fine ig it also distinguishes her from jay and the other one billion gray mollies with blue eyes#but it doesnt feel right to me#i might go a little crazy here and make it an impossible color cause i like her and think she deserves it. maybe red#cause ik i want shadowsight to have red eyes. maybe she can too :3 mother/son moment#maybe even pink eyes. why not

they had their faces projected on giant screens too so I could see them and I was taking a bunch of pictures

The cgi in the moonknight tv series is so distracting and they depend on it too much, I know the costuming and cgi industries are different in unionization but geez the actual moonknight costume would look so cool if it wasn't CGI in every single scene he's wearing it. Just thinking about it bc it looks like it's gonna be the same thing with the she-hulk series, the cgi is very off putting to me, bring me back to the bill bixby/Lou Ferrigno era and just get a more buff lady to switch out with Tatiana Maslany when she's hulking out
