Just Realized Shadow was the first one to go and will be the last one (or straight up never) to reunite with PMMM Sonic. He is immortal after all

Maybe, but I don't really consider Pmmm Sonic's existence to actually be in any kind of afterlife-- after all he's not actually dead, he's just kinda... stuck stranded from existence in any tangible universe or timeline. A really, really messed up chaos control would be more likely to face you with him than death, honestly, since chaos control twists time and space. But, yaknow, it's hard to teleport to someone or someplace that you don't know to look for... but super forms and the chaos emeralds and the master emerald are probably the closest to reaching him, theoretically. But it's still a huge maybe, even then...

Oooh also, now that u mentioned it, if Prime Sonic is briefly able to talk to PMMM Sonic for a considerable amount of time, what would they talk about ?

Hmmm.... well, if it's for a considerable amount of time, and not about the impending death of the multiverse or whatever... I imagine it would mostly be pmmm getting prime to talk about his friends and stuff. It's kind of all stuff he's witnessed himself, but it's nice to just be able to talk to someone about them. In general just having conversation in general would be such a breath of fresh air for a sociable guy like sonic.

Pmmm Sonic admittedly would probably keep most of the conversation away from the details of his own old life, though, and how he came to be the way he is. It's not something he really wants to unload on others, especially after all he did to give them new, happier futures. To him, that's all part of a past where he nearly lost all his friends. What matters to him is the now, where they're okay. It's not that the past DOESN'T matter but like... you know how Sonic is. In general he'd like to talk about his friends as they are, not as they were in their worst moments. If prime sonic tried to ask him about himself, he would probably be frustratingly cryptic and jokey about it.

NOT THE ONLY. As far as I'm aware, unless some kind of revelation hits me, Amy gets through okay, and Sonic still lives (in a way). Admittedly Knuckles is kind of a 50/50-- just cause his arc isn't written out yet. Whatever happens, i want him to be even more tightly involved with chaos in the sa1 arc... I dunno. I know i don't want more than 3 people to kick the bucket before Sonic does his big fuck you kyuubey chaos control, but I DO know i want him to be pretty isolated from the others by that point. not like physically, but he would be less open about what he knows now, and what he's planning to do

something came over me yesterday.

Think I'm gonna call it a night for now, but thanks to everyone who talked about my pmmm au with me today o7 It's been so fun to revisit it, and its kinda resparked my obsession with it

oh and i haven't talked about Tails' role in the au much, just cause it hasn't come up yet, but he's also very prevalent! He may not have a wish yet, (both kyuubey and Sonic think he's too young, but kyuubey promises he'll get his chance in time :] ) but because he lives with Sonic (they share an apartment in station square, because witches are a lot more common in cities, so thats where they live in this au), he's inevitably come involved in the whole magical girl business. Even if it wasn't for how impossible that is to hide, Sonic would tell him (almost.) anything, anyways.

So tails is kinda like the non-magical 3rd party witness to everything happening, kinda like madoka's friends and family, and madoka herself before she makes her wish. But he's not totally uninvolved-- he actually backs up Sonic and his friends in a lot of witch hunts, and provides weapons and tools for others

all of which pack a huge punch against witches.

Again, he and Sonic tell each other and include each other in everything, until Shadow disappears, and Sonic starts clearly keeping things from him

I’ll imagine everytime one of them has a near or straight up death experience, they are briefly reunited with PMMM Sonic

Also, really bittersweet how Sonic gets to see everyone surviving their former ends and watching them grow and be better and he can’t join them

HELP. TRUUE. I was imagining the new timeline sonic to be more of the game iteration than prime, but god thats a hysterical thought. he basically dropped pmmm sonics fine timeline china.

It'd be interesting though... I think one of the most likely scenarios for new timeline sonic to ever make contact with pmmm sonic WOULD be entering that void from sonic prime. I imagine the way the void works and whatever state of existence pmmm sonic exists in could function closely enough.

what did everyone wished for?

EEEEHEHEHE I'll admit right now I'm not 100% on everyone's wishes, but for the most part have general ideas down for all of them.

For Sonic-- well for quick reference, most of the characters do not have their iconic powers from the start. The only exception would be Tails having his tails (which is just like. a totally plausible genetic mutation) and Shadow having his chaos powers (cause you know, scientifically made ultimate lifeform. He doesn't have the skates or speed, though!)

Anyways. For Sonic, he made his wish in the midst of Eggman's first attacks and establishment of the Eggman Empire. 12 years old and without his speed, there was only so much he could do to help. His wish was on the lines of "I wish the Eggman Empire would fall and never rise again", though nowadays I've been thinking about tweaking it a little to just generally something along the lines of "i wish i could help/protect others/stop Eggman". Either way, Sonic kind of becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy after that. The answer to his own wish in the form of a hero.

For Shadow, as I've mentioned, it was to cure maria, so she could finally go see mobius herself. He actually stalled a lot on making his wish, out of skepticism, cause like. It's not like kyuubey had any proof to back up that he could grant wishes yet. Shadow was the first target (in at least 3000 years) and he's also in space. But as maria's hopes started dwindling, he got desperate. I also detail how that goes here

I think Amy mirrors Madoka a lot, in the sense that, while I'm unsure what her wish would specifically be, the idea i had in mind was always that its more in being a magical girl and helping people that her wish is fulfilled. I imagine maybe she wishes to heal Lily (the flicky from sa1 :]), or something of that nature. In general shes a much newer magical girl to the team.

And Knuckles. oooooohoho man I want to figure out the specifics of Knuckles and his arc and what happens to him, because his wish is interesting. He wishes for the echidnas back. Angel Island is actually very populated. Which is WILD to think about. makes it even more wild to think about how chaos' release goes, then....

The only one I'm really totally in the grey for, is Rouge... her main magic ability is invisibility, so theres something to be had with that? Whatever wish she had, I imagine it to be a kind of naive one, or one made in the spur of a desperate moment. I have a feeling if she could change it, she would.

Does Sonic ever reunite with all the fallen ones like Madoka ? (bcs I genuinely doubt only Shadow died, and idk if Rouge’s arc ending Can be interpreted like that)

(Yeah, Rouge also dies-- though hers is more of a sad disappearance, to kinda fit the vibes of how things are at that point. Once she disappears things are kinda reaching a the climax of the plot.)

You mean after Super Sonic uses his chaos control to rewrite the timeline? It's... complicated, and bittersweet. And admittedly very crafted to mirror madoka's ending in pmmm, though a liiiittle different. Cause basically what Sonic ends up doing is creating a new timeline, where the Incubators straight up don't exist, in any past, present, or future.

So basically, he's written his current iteration of himself out of existence. He's a paradox. But thanks to the protection of the emeralds, and the necessity for him to exist for the new timeline to exist, he basically ends up in ever-present omniscient limbo pretty much exactly the way madoka does in the show. He can observe the new timeline (which includes a separate, alternate version of himself-- he isn't absent from it like madoka is), see the lives his friends can live without the magical girl stuff cutting it short, but he doesn't get to be a part of it. Again-- bittersweet.

on a more whimsical note whenever this au comes up i can't help over indulging in imagining how super sonic's transformation goes. there's a whole awesome gorgeous godly sequence in my mind

I get it bcs I wanted to make a PMMM au too (with another piece of media) and the only thing stopping me was the witches design. Like, making a concept of it? Amazing, DOING IT ?? Hmmmmm yeaaaaahhhhh nooooooo

BADLY! VERY BADLY. Sonic, due to his speed, obviously, is the one who gets to Shadow first, after his fight with Black Doom, manages to exchange a few words, see his last moments of pain and his soul gem, but Rouge is the second person on the scene (because she's special and needs to be there for this.), and witnesses the moment Shadow transforms. She's basically witnessing what was once her worst fear, happening to the first person she's come to care about since she'd gained that fear.

She doesn't take it well. She failed to protect that important person from a fate SHE knew about. She tries to go back to her old ways, collecting grief seeds to sustain herself, but eventually she just can't find a reason to keep putting in that effort, can't find it in her heart to be selfish again after caring about someone else (it doesn't help that Shadow WAS her main teammate that she hunted witches with. in general her efficiency in witch-hunting is going to be hurt by that loss). She starts to neglect her soul gem and witch-hunting. Sonic and the others try to check up on her, give her grief seeds they can spare, but there's not much they can help.

At one point, she tries to reject her wish and her soul gem all together, not wanting to be a part of this anymore, but its then that she and sonic both learn that its quite literally not something you can walk away from. Everyone does their best to help, but eventually, they lose contact with her, and can't find her anymore.

Oh my god i totally forgot to throw this in, but actually, in this au, there is no time-travelling elements! In an au more formatted to work Madoka's plot around Sonic characters, maybe I would, but this au is more of like... Sonic's plot and characters thrown into a story of Madoka Magica mechanics and tragedy. And the madohomu time travel story just doesn't click right with any of those dynamics, you know?

Plus, as you've probably noticed, all the main cast (excluding tails, who i'll detail more about if it comes up), have long since made their wishes, so it just wouldn't work the same anyways. That's also why the resolution is Sonic specifically doing a super genesis wave (for those who don't know archie sonic lore, a super genesis wave is a chaos control powered by the seven chaos emeralds used to rewrite time and space. With the seven emeralds, there are technically no limits, and can rewrite the multiverse, if one so chooses. (of course, doing something so extreme can have extreme consequences as well))

Sonic watching someone die for the first time? No no no, he watches as he turns into a monster with no reason and who is about to destroy everything he ever loved. And the only way to respect any semblance of that person is to kill him

His only equal… gone forever and he has to do the job (? I think, how does the time traveling goes on here)

YEAH. BASICALLY. And it holds a lot more weight this time around, for a lot of reasons. Cause like, when the Ark happens, its still like, Sad, obviously, but Sonic BARELY knew Shadow, and mostly knew him as enemies. But with the way the au goes, when Shadow's found in heroes, he DOES have that amnesia, but he doesn't lose the memories he starts to regain around the time of shth. In general the shth plotline becomes more about just discovering the truth about how he was made and such and less about like. Choosing between good and evil.

Like long story short, by the time of the Black Arms invasion, Shadow and Rouge have kinda formed their own magical girl team that regularly works with Sonic's. Shadow's kind of started to form a normal life, and has a friendship with Sonic. so it hits a lot harder when he loses Shadow the second time, for good, in one of the worst ways possible. Plus the additional impact of finally learning where witches come from, and all.
