Womanhood | Dean
Summary: Dean helps to comfort you during your time of the month, without much experience about periods, he tries his best.
This is a little different to the actual request, I hope that’s okay! I’ve tried my best to replicate it though :) Let me know if you want Sam’s/Cas’s version too!
Based off of this request here, thanks!!
Word count: 1,134
Warnings: some swearing, not loads!
♱⁺. ⋆˙✧⋆✧˙⋆⊹.♱
This morning, you woke up with the most unbearable pain, cramps that felt like your appendix had ruptured. You groan in pain, hoping it would subside soon. You clutch your belly and slowly get out of bed. Your alarm clock flashes 7:39am, and you let your head fall. “I love when I have no sleep,” you mumble to yourself, letting out a huff. Looking behind you, Dean isn’t passed out, snoring so loud it would’ve probably woke you up anyway. You hold your belly and walk out toward the kitchen.
“Morning,” you grumble, and Dean turns around from the stove. His face lit up seeing you at the doorframe, your hair a mess and in one of his spare Star Wars t-shirts and your own pyjama shorts. “Someone’s looking rough.” He jokes, noticing you’re not smiling back. “Aw honey, what’s wrong?” He asks, his smile quickly fading. The smell of breakfast hovers over you, like it’s mocking your morning sickness. “I think I’m coming on my period today…” you say, and Dean turns round to face you, letting the eggs and bacon sizzle quietly on the stove. Toast pings out of the toaster at the same time. “Are you sure you’ll be okay for today’s hunt? If you’re in pain, I’m sure Sammy and I will handle it fine.” He genuinely looks concerned, as if you haven’t had plenty of periods before. It hurt like hell, sure, but you could manage just fine. Along with the fact that periods can make you super emotional and/or angry, you were certain it could come in handy when killing a couple of monsters.
“I’ll be fine Dean, honestly. I want to come with you both.” You smile, leaning over the counter top. Dean nods in agreement. “It’s always fun having you around. If you change your mind just let us know, okay?” He shoots you a quick grin before turning back to the stove, plating up your breakfast. “Where’s Sam?” You question, usually he’s already by the table reading his favourite book or getting ready to go out for his morning jog. “I think he went for a shower, I’m not sure.” Dean spins round and passes you a plate with 2 slices of toast, egg, bacon and hash browns. “Wow, this looks really good, Dean. Thank you.” You smile warmly at him, and he returns the gesture.
♱⁺. ⋆˙✧⋆✧˙⋆⊹.♱
Your rapid breathing causes you to hunch over and rest your hands on your thighs, you take a deep breath. “God damn…” you say, looking up at Sam, who’s right in front of you. “What a kill!” You chuckle to yourself, wiping your hair out of your face. You stand up, giving Sam a high-five. “Good job, Y/N. It’s like you don’t need our help.”
“I know, right? I’m just that go-“ “Y/N! Watch out!” Sam cocks his gun and tries to shove you out of the way, a sudden loud bang shocks you as you feel something sharp pierce your skin abruptly. You fall over, Dean rushing to your side. “I’ll cover you, Dean, make sure she’s okay!” Sam quickly checks back at you, noticing blood is pouring out of our calf.
“Fuck. Y/N, are you okay? Does it hurt?” He panics, shuffling over to apply pressure on your leg. He rummages in his pocket for a handkerchief and immediately applies it to your wound, he rushes to whip his belt off and tie it tight enough around your leg to hopefully stop the bleeding. You can practically see the fear in his eyes, and you laugh quietly.
“What’s so funny, huh? Almost dying?” His hands shake, trying to keep the pressure on your leg at all times.
“I’m not gonna die, Dean. It’s just a gunshot. Stop worrying,”
You place your hand on his, and he gazes at you with so much worry. His gorgeous hunter green eyes comfort you, even though he’s feeling the complete opposite. You pull your hand up to his face and caress his cheek, he finally shows some sign of calming down. It’s like his whole body relaxes by just your touch. “I’ve honestly felt worse.” You joke, slowly moving your body to sit up. You wince, feeling cramp in both of your abdomen and your leg. “Help me get up,” you say, and Dean pulls you up, anchoring you from underneath, your arm draped behind his back. “Let’s get you home.” He says, catching his eye on Sam, making his way back inside.
♱⁺. ⋆˙✧⋆✧˙⋆⊹.♱
It had been a few hours since you arrived back at the bunker, you lay across the sofa, clasping your belly as the cramps still hadn't subsided. Your leg, however, had been patched up neatly by Sam, and were given some painkillers for it. It didn't seem to work that well.
"How're you feeling?" Dean pats your foot, walking past the sofa to perch himself on the very little space left on the armrest. "I feel like I've been shot in two different areas," You try to joke, but it only makes Dean glare at you, waiting for a real answer.
"Could you get me some period pads, or tampons, please? Either work," You state, trying to sit up. "Uh, yeah, I can do that. What... size?" Dean looks puzzled, which only makes you smile. "Regular, Dean. Get the ones with wings."
Dean stands up and gathers his thoughts. "Pads with wings. Tampons with wings. Got it. I think." He places his hands on his hips and looks to the ground, then to you. He smiles lovingly. "I'll be right back." He says, before grabbing his flannel and exiting the door.
♱⁺. ⋆˙✧⋆✧˙⋆⊹.♱
An hour or so had gone by, and you hadn't moved from the sofa. your cramps have worsened to the point of also giving you a headache. You hear the door open, then close. Dean's back from the store, and he's got a white carrier bag full of items. "I'm back," He chuckles, "Got you a few things." He walks up to the sofa, laying the bag on the coffee table next to you. "Oh, Dean, you didn't have to..." You trail, as he takes out chocolate, a small teddy bear with a t-shirt that reads 'Get Well Soon' with a small red heart underneath it. He had also bought you the pads that you had asked for, aspirin, fresh bandages for your leg and a small bunch of red roses.
Your smile gleamed as your eyes met his. "You really didn't have to." Your voice almost a whisper, and he moves closer to you. "I know, but I wanted to." He smiles, leaning in to give you a quick kiss.
"Thank you." You say, reaching your hand up to the nape of his neck, pulling him in for one more.

Jason Todd as a Trans (ftm) allegory
Written by me, a trans man
Tumblr media
[this edit was made by me, original picture it's Dan Mora's sketch]
TW gender disphoria, (implied) transphobia.
Im not saying his story was written with this perspective in mind, Im saying *death of the author (*the reinterpretation of artistic creations by the public both as a community and aa individuals, and how this goes far beyond the creator's original message on mind) is a very real thing.
This narrative resonated with me, a trans man, and my experience as such. Maybe out there is another transmasc person who caught themselves invested in this character the same way as I, and maybe they'll read this post and be happy to found out they're not alone on these feelings.
Without further addue, let's begin.
The second Robin, and the feeling of not fitting
Tumblr media
Every trans person first memory of perceiving oneself as somehow different (and how) it's particular to each.
Some realize pretty young, some older. Some always have this lingering feeling of not belonging but become conscious of it later in life.
This feeling its present trough all of Jason's life. First, when he first arrives at the Manor. Later, when he starts operating as Robin. Then when Tim "replaces him", and so on.
Usually labelled as the black lamb of the family.
Tumblr media
Tragedy is always, first, born off love
Tumblr media
Jason's death and resurrection is written as a tragedy (no shit, Sherlock). But there, to be a tragedy, there has to be hope first. There has to be love.
Now, this varies from version to version, but a general consence is that Jason Todd was loved by Bruce Wayne, regardless of how much their relationship might change and twist on the future; Jason Todd was a good kid, regardless of how he might be portrayed as recless. He was a traumatized, angry kid who wanted to make things better. Who wished for bad guys to not hurt people anymore. Who wished to change the system for better, and took the matter on his own hands both as a child and as a young adult.
This
Tumblr media
This right here
Tumblr media
Was a loved, brave, bold, sensitive, mischievous, smart child who would latter come back like this:
Tumblr media
Demanding justice, demanding damnation for al the pain he went through, demanding retaliation to the monster that set him off this world.
And all these requests fell to the ears of Bruce Wayne, Batman. The man who took him in as a scared, bold litte child that beated him in the cold of the night in the alley where his parents died. He stole his car tires, he's a child and he stole his car tires and he made Batman laugh.
That Perception doesn't change with his rise from the dead.
What changes is Bruce's view of him now.
Now, this depends on the writer, but on the start of Jason's "coming back to Gotham to fight Bruce" arc, there is the accusation of him coming back wrong.
Of him being better before
Of something being wrong with him since the start.
The implications of his physical change as wrong in comparation to his younger self.
I find Jason's body dismorphia due to The Lazarus Pit™ very interesting, but in this case Im not referring to it as a comparation with body disphoria (even through, he does get the feeling of your body changing in ways out of your control and the trauma that surrounds it).
Im talking about Bruce's view on all of this.
Luckily, if you're trans and had supportive parents, you won't know these things by first hand experience, but many, many people do.
And Jason gets it.
Jason Todd its womanhood™ coded
Tumblr media
This is, partially, one of th main reasons why his fanbase consists on a large part of fangirls.
Repressed rage upon the injustices you go through all your life, and once the last drop falls, said rage is weaponized. Seen as dirty, as over the top, as dangerous.
Your older self being compared to your younger self, being asked (directly or indirectly) where that sweet child™ went.
Being striped away from your body autonomy (murder, torture, resurrection against his will, whatever is going on in Batman Gotham War).
Being labeled as the most sensitive. Sometimes in a good light, sometimes not.
The burning weight of still loving parental figures that hurted you.
Topping it all, it's implied through many instances he's a feminist (yes, Im aware this is also heavily influenced by fanon interpretations of the character, but you can't deny it's still heavily implied).
All of these issues almost universal (however not exclusive) to AFAB people life experience.
There is this recognition in these wounds. "He gets it", you feel, he gets it.
He gets it in a similar way transmasc individual have an undeniable insight of these issues. He gets it in a way that feels genuine, familiar, personal.
Lastly but nor least important,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He gives me gender™ vibes. That's it, that's the argument
Tumblr media
Over all, Jason Todd its a multifaceted, complex character. He's morally grey, his temperament ranging and mutating with each reinterpretation. Some core issues stick, others don't.
I do not hold the one and only right interpretation of this character.
We can al agree, nevertheless, that even through he's not canonically trans,
Jason todd would be a great trans ally, fighting by our side, in name of our rights, our pain but also our pride.
For that's what heroes do.

A lot of times, I have people ask me for recommendations for incest media, or just don't know where to start, so without further ado:
Cocteau Azaka's Incest Reading List!
Books
Wasteland by Francesca Lia Block
Incest Rating: 9.5/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Explicit, Focal Point
Genre: Romance, Drama, Tragedy, Coming of Age
Overall Rating: 9/10
Wasteland is a beautifully written, albeit heartbreaking, book about love, loss, and growing up as an outsider. The book utilizes multiple points of view, signified by changes in font and narrative distance, to paint the picture of three teens in 1980s SoCal who are looking for answers. The first time I read this book, I finished it in tears and immediately read it a second time, just because I wanted more of it.
Hale by K Webster
Incest Rating: 9/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Explicit, Focal Point
Genre: Romance, Drama
Overall Rating: 5/10
Hale is... Not a great book. The characters are so painfully cishet and neurotypical that, while they're ostensibly fleshed out, they're so perfectly, stereotypically normal that I legitimately felt alienated. I suppose the point is that it's not always the fucked up people who can be in a forbidden relationship, that even the girl next door can fall in love with her brother, but in execution the only reason the characters weren't boring is that they wrapped around to being fascinating if only because this was what being "normal" is like.
Overall quality aside, the romance itself is not only convincing, but spectacular. It's a poignant depiction of the line between siblings and lovers blurring until it's inevitably crossed, and it has an explicitly happy ending— a rarity in incest media.
Love's Forbidden Flower, by Diane Rinella
Incest Rating: 6/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Will They Won't They, Explicit
Genre: Romance, Drama
Overall Rating: 4/10
To be blunt, this book was a letdown. I appreciate what the author was going for, and I felt that it did achieve that, somewhat?
But I could not stand the characters, particularly the secondary love interest that's introduced after the main character is let down by her brother time and time again. The reason why this book is on here at all is the end of the second act/early parts of the third, where the protagonist's brother is redeemed and they finally are together, even if it's only temporary when they find that they're not able to withstand the challenges of a socially unacceptable relationship. Rinella wrote a fascinating turn in the plot with a bravery not usually becoming of Western authors of the genre, and for that I applaud her.
Kara no Kyoukai: Records in Oblivion by Kinoko Nasu
Incest rating: 6/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Unrequited, but Explicit, Sub-plot
Genre: Urban fantasy, neo-noir
Overall rating: 7/10
Obviously, I have a fondness for Kara no Kyoukai, and for Azaka specifically, but I'll admit that this isn't the most incestuous book on the list. It does have some payoff with a platonic date at the end, but primarily it's on this list because it does a good job of exploring Azaka's feelings and not invalidating them or downplaying them. I would recommend reading the KnK books prior to this one first, or else you'll most likely be hopelessly lost.
Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
Incest Rating: 4/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Explicit, Questionably Requited? Auxillary to the Plot
Genre: Chuck Palahniuk, Drama
Overall Rating: 8/10
Like most of Palahniuk's works, Invisible Monsters is about fucked up people doing fucked up things, driven by self-destruction until they enter todestrieb. As usual, it's fucking glorious.
Invisible Monsters focuses on themes of beauty, identity, attention, disability, and the way that all of these intersect with womanhood. It's not for readers who are squeamish about depictions of transphobia or a narrator who is somewhat transphobic herself, but if you're able to stomach it I highly recommend it.
If you're reading it just for the incest, you'll probably be disappointed, but if you want a fantastic book with some small amount of explicit incest feelings, I would say go for it.
Not Forever, but For Now by Chuck Palahniuk
I'm putting this on the list because though I haven't read it yet, I know that it's explicitly incestuous. I cannot promise that the incest is good, I can't even promise that the book is good, but I can assure you that those brothers are fucking.
Manga
Sayuri-San no Imouto wa Tenshi
Incest Rating: 10/10
Incest Type: Explicit, Sisters, Focal Point
Genre: Yuri, Slice of Life, Romance, Comedy
Overall Rating: 9/10
This manga is very short, but focuses on the day to day life of a young woman and her estranged, sickly younger sister, who re-enters her life suddenly with a halo and wings that only the protagonist and her friend can see.
It's an extremely sweet, funny and lighthearted manga that is nonetheless deeply touching.
Citrus
Incest Rating: 5/10
Incest Type: Step-Sisters, Focal Point, Explicit
Genre: Yuri, Romance, Drama, Gyaru
Overall Rating: 6/10
Citrus is the queen of sister yuri, earning the rare privilege of an anime adaptation, which in this genre is rare! However, just because Citrus is queen does not make it the best, not even by a long shot. The plot is extremely melodramatic, the kisses questionably consensual for most of the first acts, and with the strict uniform standards, a lot of the tertiary characters can be difficult to discern in black and white. It has it's redeeming qualities, but mostly I've found that it's over-hyped.
I Met My Sister On A Dating Site
Incest Rating: 7/10
Incest Type: Sisters, Focal Point, Explicit
Genre: Yuri, Slice of Life, Comedy, Romance
Overall Rating: 7/10
This is a really cute and short manga with a great premise, but honestly it's very lacking in substance. That's okay though, because it does exactly what it sets out to do: be something short and sweet that ends with sisters dating.
Oshi no Ko
Incest Rating: 8/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Twins, Explicit, Ostensibly Requited? Sub plot
Genre: Drama, Thriller, Revenge, Idols
Overall Rating: 8/10
I've written my thoughts on Oshi no Ko elsewhere, but to keep this brief, this is a fantastic series, and reading/watching it was the time of my life. The art is glamorous and over the top, with visibly heightened emotions that really sell the drama of it all.
We've only just started to get to the incest as of this chapter being written, but Ruby's reaction to her brother are so endearing that I'm preemptively rating it very highly
Koi no Kaze
Incest Rating: 7/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Explicit, Focal Point
Genre: Romance, Slice of Life
Overall Rating: 6/10
I don't have too much to say about this one— it's your basic, straightforward sibling love story played straight, with not too many twists or turns. I do appreciate that it includes an outing scene, so I'm rating it a bit higher, but it also hits on public acceptance, which for some people is a really important part of the fantasy.
1 x 1/2
Incest Rating: 8/10
Incest Type: Mother/Daughter, Explicit, Focal Point
Genre: Romance, Drama, Yuri
Overall Rating: */10
Taiyaki, the mangaka who created 1 x 1/2, is in my opinion one of the greatest mother/daughter writers and artists out there. 1 x 1/2 is a complicated work to judge as an English speaker because what's currently on Mangadex is an excellent fan translation of an unfinished, no longer canon first draft. This is phenomenal, and does a great job of everything it sets out to do, until it ends very suddenly. When Taiyaki restarted 1 x 1/2, she partnered with an (incredibly mid) translation partner called Yuri Hub, which means that her work can no longer be fan translated, and the translation published is pretty clearly machine-based. It's honestly very disappointing, as I would love to have a proper translation of the new 1 x 1/2.
Visual Novels
Full Metal Daemon Muramasa
Incest Rating: 8/10
Incest Type: Siblings (Explicit? Implicit? Somewhat unrequited?), Parent/Child (Explicit)
Genre: Fantasy Mecha, Action, Drama, Samurai
Overall Rating: 9/10
Muramasa is an epic, and I don't know how to impress the drama of the fight scenes throughout, and the way that they combine real swordplay theory with imagined mecha combat, crossed with samurai tropes. It can be really difficult to get through, as the game is not even in the slightest for the squeamish. There's a lot of rape, both implied and explicit, however the antagonist's motivation is that she wants to ascend to godhood so that she's no longer bound by the rules of morality and therefore can marry her father. Additionally, her relationship with her brother is extremely sexually charged, and their fight scenes often involve comparisons to sex.
This is one of the best mecha VNs ever written, with a truly fantastic ending.
Tsukihime
Incest Rating: 7/10
Incest Type: Siblings, Explicit, Focal Point (of one route)
Genre: Action, Urban Fantasy, Horror
Overall Rating: 7/10
This game is a touchy subject for me. I've had the misfortune of playing Tsukihime after having it hyped up for literal years, so it not measuring up to that hype is less a statement on my objective assessment of the VN, and more a statement on how beloved it is.
Having said that, the Akiha route is fantastic. I'm not sure that I have much to say on the subject that hasn't already been said, but believe you me, Tsukihime is worth playing.
Love Ribbon
Incest Rating: 8/10
Incest Type: Sisters, Explicit, Focal Point
Genre: Slice of Life, Drama, Romance, Comedy, Yuri
Overall Rating: 6/10
Love Ribbon is a short, sweet VN that's a really solid 6/10 and is worth the $15 it costs to support an indie dev. It focuses on two sisters who were raised apart, and only meet when they share an apartment to attend a prestigious high school. The romance is cute, the plot is uncomplicated, and there are only two routes, but there's a long epilogue where they're explicitly dating and ostensibly get symbolically married. If you have unresolved daddy issues that you can't touch for fear of untangling something massive, this is a great read because so do those girls.
Thank you for reading, I hope that this list helps people!

There's something deeply ableist about people acting like Aunt Bee can't look as old as she does or have a body as broken down as hers is because she's only 55. As if people age like Sims in a totally consistent way with the benchmark for health being people with good access to housing, nutrition, healthcare, health, and lack of stress.
It's the kind of ableism that causes people to be told they're too young to need mobility aids or too young to be experiencing chronic pain. It can express itself in disdain for people missing teeth. It's judging people for their hair turning grey earlier than average (or losing their hair) and how that automatically disqualifies you from youth and beauty even though for some people it can start in their teens. It's the way people with rapid aging disorders are treated like monsters to be feared or tragedies whose lives couldn't possibly include joy.
Our image of a 55-year-old is someone still in relatively good health with maybe a little grey and no serious health problems. Largely stemming from what 55-year-olds are allowed to be visible in media. People who fall outside of that are treated as faking or deviant. I don't think people are even aware how often they fall into this sort of ableism and ageism. People who experience it are ignored and made invisible.
I personally know 55-year-olds that look much older than Aunt Bee because they lived very hard lives that took a huge physical toll on their bodies. Who have grey hair turning white, can barely stand, need oxygen, have sagging lined faces, etc. Features people do not associate with their age. And if they need full-time care only the gods can help them because nursing homes won't take you without medicare. Notably these people experienced long term homelessness leading to constant extreme stress, trauma, exposure to the elements, and lack of medical care. Spend any time around people who've experienced long-term homelessness and Aunt Bee looks perfectly average.
The woman I know who actually experience this do in fact try and hold onto any youth they can through things like makeup because they've been made very aware they've "lost" their womanhood and are no longer considered beautiful. They are not listened to, they are not considered, they are erased. They're constantly internalizing that the good parts of their life are behind them now and they have nothing to look forward to but steady decline and alienation. This isn't actually true, but I've seen how inescapable this message is.
When certain kinds of disability are shown in Critical Role shows, people celebrate. Or queer sexualities that get little representation. But here is a woman who has aged beyond her years from hardship and people are acting so incredulous like it's impossible and Marisha is just clueless about aging. Instead of representing woman who are totally erased from media and deeply othered for their natural looks and invisible disabilities.
Marisha did something brave and chose to represent woman that are erased from the narrative (especially by Hollywood where she lives). She dared to show a woman who aged early and still has so much worth. But it's treated like a joke and like incompetence.
So no, I don't find that clowning funny at all. I find it cruel and misogynistic and ableist and ageist. I think it does violence against woman society has hurt the most, excludes, and erases. It's the haters who are showing their ignorant asses.

For nezriel, monster! Nesta? Like, instead of coming out the Cauldron as an high fae she comes out distinctly Other and then ultimately bonds with azriel over that
It makes sense in that vicious beautiful way the world sometimes does that Nesta Archeron was reborn a monster.
Since her earliest memories of bruised feet and pointe shoes, of braids pulled tight against her scalp, of her mother's face screwed in disgust as she once again failed in all the ways that counted, Nesta knew with tragic certainty she'd come out of the womb wrong.
Wrong for a father who yearned for a boy.
Wrong for a mother who knew the future of her swaddled daughter and wept bitterly, grieving the punishment of womanhood not yet bestowed.
And she but a babe surely cried herself purple and sick with the recognition her soul did not fit in the pink flesh that held it.
When she is poured from the Cauldron, water splashing against flagstones, casting ephemeral shadows, no tears are shed to join that growing puddle she kneels in.
She is livid and despairing, both feelings that should draw hot salty tracks down her face, yet the sting does not come, superseded by a contentment that spreads from her core and radiates out like the sun in July.
Her skin finally fits the soul residing within.
Her sisters weep for they do not understood. It does not hurt, for Nesta Archeron was borne and bred on mistakes, missteps and misunderstandings.
In the bracing air of Hybern her body whispers for the first time,
'I understand you Nesta Archeron.'
As snow falls crisp on mountain peaks she listens.
***
She stays in Hybern. Feyre begs her to come with them and Elain screams, sending a ripple through time itself. But if as a human Nesta had been cutting, now she can bite, with fangs so sharp she nicks herself many a time before learning to retract them.
And when she gnashes her teeth at the merry band of fools it is seconds before those she loves are whisked away in whirls of night and fire.
As if she was ever a threat to her sisters.
The shadow male lingers, sharp eyes drawing over her frame, taller and wider than in the time before, casting an appreciative glance at her feathered wings and long tail that wraps around around her thigh.
He is odd she thinks.
He becomes odder still as he bows deeply and says in a low rumble,
'Fan anseo m'anam.'
***
There is a compulsion to linger on the mountain top, to burrow down in a nearby cave and wait.
But for her, raised in a world built for others, ignoring instinct is second nature.
Smile when you wish to frown.
Simper when you wish to scream.
Run when you wish to wait.
She goes to the bog. Makes home amidst wet peat and ferns. There are monsters there but she with silver flame and fang has no issue protecting her own.
She finds peace in the shadows.
The shadows find her too.
***
Two moons have passed when he lands.
A dramatic crashing affair, she hears him tumbling through the thicket like a newborn fawn, long before he comes to stand glaring before her.
Some Spymaster.
He huffs.
'I told you to wait.'
She pokes him in the stomach with her tail.
'Move. You're blocking my light.'
He sits beside her, just close enough that she could grasp his thigh if she wished, far enough away that no part of him risks touching her.
'I told you to wait.'
This time it's a plea.
She squints in his direction, raising a wing to block the sun so she can take him in.
He looks terrible. His usual shining curls are dry and tangled, she spots a few oak leaves caught in the fray.

You wheezed, tears pooling in your eyes, as Jaemin’s long fingers drill inside your hole. His movements were fast and you couldn't keep up with the pleasure he gives you. You choked, letting out a wheeze that made the man in front of you smirk.
"That's it, love, give yourself to me" you hear him mock you as tears fall from your eyes. He had a twisted desire to see you cry as you fall under his spell, and all you could do is take what he gives you. You feel yourself about to burst, causing you to shiver and grasp the sheets under you.
All you could do is sob as you chased for your release, but it looks like Jaemin had other plans. As soon as you're about to let go, he pulled away from his fingers.
"No, no--" you started to plead, but he leaned yourself to your left ear.
"Rise, sunshine."
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
Sweat ran down your forehead as you opened your eyes. You groaned, not pleased with your dream being interrupted and your pussy still throbbing. You rubbed your legs to soothe the heated feeling in your center, despite it not helping much. You resisted touching your womanhood, knowing that Jaemin would punish you if he finds you masturbating.
A deep breath being released startled you in your stupor. You turned to look over your shoulder. You almost beamed seeing your boyfriend laying on his back, snoring quietly. You’ve been waiting for him to come home for hours, but unfortunately, you weren’t able to stay awake.
Your body turned to face him, your elbows resting on the pillow with your head resting on your hand. Jaemin has a very attractive side profile. He has a defined jaw that you imagined yourself placing a kiss mark on it. His collarbones are sticking out at the neckline of his white shirt, to which you noticed that the marks you placed there were healing away.
You and Jaemin never discussed wanting to have sex while the other is asleep, but you were well aware that he is a kinky motherfucker, as were you. He’s implied before that he would get horny at night, but due to the schedules you both have, sex at night is rare these days.
Making up your mind, you moved to pull up the blanket. You positioned yourself on top of his stomach. He visibly squirmed at the added weight, but he made no move that would indicate him being awake.
Seeing him from the top made you realize how lucky you were to be blessed with a boyfriend like him. Sometimes you wonder what you did in your life that made you deserve a man like Jaemin. You leaned down to place mouth kisses on his neck. His breath hitched at the contact, and you continued to mouth on his neck by nibbling it. Your hand traveled down to grasp on his bottoms, noting how he decided to sleep on boxers instead.
Lifting your head from his neck, you pulled down the hems of his boxers. His cock peeked out from the opening, and your eyes darkened. His cock is limp when you grasped it. You hear him groan in his sleep. You looked up, seeing his head turned to the other side and his eyebrows scrunched up.
You held the member with both of your hands, rubbing its base with your other finger and playing with the tip. It hardens while you continue with your ministrations. You moved below the blanket and between his legs so that you could focus on giving pleasure to his head. Licking the tip first, you opened your mouth to envelop it down to the base. God, you missed this.
Your left hand moved to his ball, giving it a little tickle which made his legs spasm around. The blanket was lifted away from your body, and a surprised Jaemin is now looking at you. He is wide-eyed when he saw what you were doing. He moaned, his head falling back and his neck lifted.
You removed your mouth a bit to say, “Welcome home, love.” before putting his cock on your mouth again.
He cursed, stuttering out a reply, “F-Fuck, babe...”
Jaemin’s hand moved to grip your hair hard, making you moan lowly in the process. You went fast as you bobbed your head up and down, intending to make him cum under your care. He sobbed at the bliss he felt from your movements. His right knee bends and he covered his eyes with his free arm.
Shortly, he reached his climax. The liquid spilled on your mouth, your tongue greedily licking up the ones that spilled. Jaemin’s chest heaved, and the hand clutching your hair is now caressing your head. You looked up, seeing him now sitting up. He gazed at you softly, with a hint of deliriousness. After you finished up your business, you lifted to sit on his lap. You wrapped your arms around his neck, grinning at him innocently as if you didn’t just suck him awake just minutes ago.
Jaemin rubbed his hands on your back, “You missed me so much, didn’t you?”
“We haven’t been spending time recently, and you always come home tired.” you answered, “I thought that maybe I should energize you just a little bit.”
He chuckled, hiding his reddened face on your neck. He nuzzled, sniffing up your soft scent.
“It’s not fair, I wasn’t even awake.”
“Tough luck, love.” you giggled, pulling away from his arms to move beside him. You grabbed his arm, pulling him down to lay on the bed with you in tow. He complied, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. He placed a kiss on your forehead, smiling when he sees your eyebrows scrunching to the contact.
“Now, let’s get some rest. You’ll need it from what I plan to do to tomorrow morning.”

Too Much of a Brat |Bruno + Abbacchio x Reader Extreme Lemon|
Warning: spanking, extremely rough sex (anal, vaginal), dom and sub, daddy kink, humiliation. MA.
"I'm sorry, daddy's, I'm sorry," you whined, practically trembling as you stood in front of Bruno and Abbacchio, knowing that you were in deep trouble with your two boyfriends. You were absolutely fucked.. you can't believe that they reacted like this.
Abbacchio shook his head, white hair damp and clinging to his bare chest from his fresh shower. A white towel was wrapped around his waist for a brief second, his yellow eyes fuming with anger as he dropped his towel. "Take your clothes off and come sit on my fucking cock, you can explain yourself then. Your punishment is starting immediately," he sharply spat at you, his 10 inch erection on full display as he sat on the black leather couch, hard golden eyes not leaving yours.
Bruno stayed behind him, black leather paddle in his hand. He wore black sweatpants, black bob pulled back in a small ponytail, a few black strands poking out, resting on his smooth forehead. His chest was bare, light six pack on full display, his arms ripped with muscles that definitely knew how to swing a leather paddle across a naughty girlfriends ass. "And you better sit facing him, I want full access to your bare ass because you will be getting a spanking for being caught talking to your ex-boyfriend, in case you forgot."
You slipped your black dress off, standing completely bare because you didn't like wearing a bra and underwear around them. "But I don't want to be punished, please just forgive me! I was just being polite!" Wrong.. you were trying to make the two of them jealous because they haven't been giving you enough attention lately; the plan clearly backfired so badly that you wished you could go back in time and undo your mistake.
"Do you want me to pick a switch from outside and beat your pussy instead? I'm sure Abbacchio wouldn't mind shoving his cock in your anus," said Bruno, his usually gentle voice hard. He wasn't fucking around with you today.. you broke the most important rule, knowing that Bruno and Abbacchio both get insanely jealous when it comes to you.
You knew that he was dead serious, so you made it a point to hurry over to Abbacchio, standing in front of him. "It's going to hurt, I'm not ready," you said softly, eyes widening as you stared at his monster cock. "You're too big to just fit inside of me." Fuck.. you weren't getting mercy today. You could tell from the hard look in their eyes that you were meant to be in pain.
Abbacchio let a smirk appear on his lips as he grabbed your wrist, pulling you onto his lap, forcing your legs to spread. "Aw, are you regretting what you did now? I don't give a fuck," he sneered, lifting you up before forcing you onto his cock.
A pained cry escaped your lips as you quickly buried your head in his shoulder, a gasp escaping your lips as he shot inside of your dry womanhood, pain shooting through your body. You wrapped your arms around his waist, knowing that you wouldn't be able to get through this punishment without comfort.
"You can keep your arms around me but lift your head and speak to me. You need to explain to us why in the absolute fuck you decided to break our most important rule." You felt Abbacchio's long fingers engage in your hair, yanking your head back. He cock twitched inside of you once you met his hungry eyes, his cock bulging in your stomach, unmoving. "What was your motive, Y/N?" He questioned, shout hair falling to his left as he tilted his head to the side, free hand roughly smacking your right breast, leaving a red handprint.
"Her motive was to make us jealous. She wanted to push our buttons. Good job, cara, you got exactly what you wanted. Is this what you wanted, to be punished as if you were a little child that doesn't know any better? How embarrassing," Bruno spoke to you harshly, shaking his head before he walked to stand behind you. "You fucking child, how dare you disrespect us." He smacked the leather paddle across the center of your ass, the paddle harshly crashing against your ass.
Tears spilled from your eyes at the first smack, your hands balling into fists behind Abbacchio's back. "I'm not a child, I... I hate you both!" You foolishly yelled without thinking, it being your only defense mechanism when you felt humiliated. You didn't hate them. You loved them both, but you were so embarrassed.. you weren't a child!
"Excuse me?" Abbacchio questioned, snatching your arms away from him. "Bruno, I think that we need to remind our girlfriend who the fucks in charge. I'll pin her down, beat her ass with no fucking mercy. Since she hates us who cares about being gentle for her sake, look at how she treats us!" He yelled, pulling you against his bare chest, arms wrapping tightly around you, trapping you against his chest with no way to escape.
"No, wait, please wait! I-I didn't mean it!" You exclaimed, panic filling your voice as you wiggled wildly, trying to escape his grasp with no luck. "Please don't beat me, I'll be good! I take it back, Abbacchio!" You were begging now, practically pleading and regretting the foolish words that you said.. why were you so stupid? You were fucking this relationship up.. damn, you deserved this. You took it too far.
Five sharp smacks landed on your bottom, staying in the same place so you would feel it much more severely. "First rule.. don't talk to any of your exes unless you have no other choice. Second rule.. never say that you hate us when you're angry. Do you know how hurt we both are because of your behavior? And then you're going to say that you hate us? You're the one who broke the rules - you knew the consequences." Five more smacks on your left cheek, matching the bright red that was starting to coat your entire ass.
"I know, and I'm sorry! I'm sorry that I'm the reason this relationship is failing, you guys are going to leave me and I'll be all alone again! I-I don't hate you, I don't!" You sobbed into Abbacchio's chest, entire body shaking as gasps of air escaped your mouth, each hit causing you to flinch. You've broken up once before because of you saying stupid things.. that's why they are like this. You created the monsters.. you were the monster, you suppose.
Abbacchio scoffed- you almost forgot that his cock was bulging deep inside of your stomach, your throbbing pussy providing a wet coating because you shamefully were turned on. "We aren't going to leave you, we already told you that we wouldn't leave you again. Why won't you believe us? Are we not allowed to make mistakes, hm?" He questioned, his voice softening because despite how angry he was he saw that you couldn't handle being yelled at anymore.
Bruno landed five smacks on your left cheek before dropping the paddle on the ground, seeing that you were close to falling apart. "Stop doing this. If you want our attention, just ask and if you are upset with us, think before you speak. You deserve for me to beat your ass until I know for certain that you'll be sitting uncomfortable for a month, but I am going to stop. Next time you pull a stunt like this, I won't be as generous."
"I'm sorry, it was my fault you left me anyways. I won't.. I'll do better. I swear on my fucking life that I'll do better and be better for the both of you," you whispered in your trembling voice. You uncomfortably wiggled against Abbacchio's cock, causing it to twitch inside of you. You whined, pushing down on it.
Abbacchio let you go, allowing you to lift your head to look at him. "You're still getting fucked until you can't walk, you aren't escaping that," he told you, standing up. His hands wrapped around your ass, gently spreading your ass cheeks out, displaying your puckered hole to Bruno. "Good job Bruno, look at how red her little ass is. I bet it hurts too," he muttered, his fingers digging into your red flesh.
"Ow," you whined, arms wrapping around Abbacchio's neck. It was about time you just behaved and took your punishment, so that's exactly what you were going to do. "Yes, Daddy, I understand." Time to be good, be the perfect submissive girlfriend that they deserved. They spoiled the fuck out of you and they took care of you.. you should have just told them that you wanted attention.
"Good girl," you heard Bruno say, his body pressing up against yours, 8 inches slowly pressing into your anus, taking his time. "I don't want this happening again, and neither does Abbacchio. We expect better from you. You also need to stop acting like we mistreat you because we don't."
Abbacchio finally let his huge cock move, slamming himself in and out of you with such force that you were practically bouncing up and down on his cock, causing you to fully push into Bruno's cock. "Take your daddy's cocks, okay? Be a good girl and take our cocks. I know you can do it."
"Okay," you moaned, your legs tightly wrapped around Abbacchio's waist. It was painful.. but the pain was so fucking good. "I'll be a good girl and take your big cocks, I love you so much daddy's." And you meant it this time, you were going to be your best behavior. You bit down on your lip, bucking your hips back and forth, slamming into both of their cocks.
"That's our dirty little girl, fuck you're so filthy," Bruno whispered in your ear, gently nipping at your earlobe as he matched your speed, loud smacks filling the air. "We love you too, we love you so fucking much."
Abbacchio groaned, rolling his hips in and out of you, hitting your g-spot with each thrust. "Your our special little slut, we're going to fucking marry you and impregnate you with our fucking children. You'll be ours for eternity," he growled, smacking the sides of your ass.
You tightened around his cock, "yes, yes, fuck yes!" You cried out, throwing your head back to rest on Bruno's shoulder. You felt a strong orgasm overwhelming your entire body, both of your holes throbbing with satisfaction. Thick wetness formed between your legs- you felt like you were going to explode. "I'm going to cum all over your fucking cock because I'm your little fucking slut," you moaned out, fully releasing, letting yourself squirt all over Abbacchio's cock.
You felt Bruno give you three more thrusts before he filled your ass with his seed, pulling out and immediately replacing his cock with an anal plug, keeping his cum inside of your ass. "20 minutes," he said, placing a kiss on your lips. "You'll wear it for 20 minutes."
Abbacchio came inside of you, pulling out instantly. A smirk appeared on his lips when you squirted all over his cock as soon as he pulled out, coating him with your juices and his own cum. "The shower is big enough for the three of us, let's shower. I'll clean the both of you up." His cock rested on your stomach, still carrying you in his arms. "Don't you ever fucking break our rules the way you did today. Next time you'll be severely punished," he threatened.
You nodded your head, "I won't do it again. I promise that I'll be good." That was a load of shit- you give yourself a month tops before you piss them off again. Guess you were going to have to buy a wheelchair because next time you wouldn't get off as lucky as you did today. Good.

So!!! Detective Fritz!
considering the necromancy thing wouldn't have happened, many things wouldn't have happened! Like her being a dude!
Fritz being transgender was mainly because of his alienation from womanhood because everyone was assuming he was this random girl he's never known. Also, she wouldn't have fallen in love with Comet, though she would be good friends with him.
Yasmin's canonically a lesbian but she's also not very acquainted with monsters like Fritz is and would be fundamentally weirded out by what is not only a giant spider with a human face but is also the equivalent to Grimace in her world. Also, Yasmin is characteristically different from Fritz, like her being sane for one. This aspect made me question if Comet would fall for her, but, no, Fritz's connection with Comet is very rooted with their mutual cannibalistic desires and their shared amnesia. Yasmin's adventure with Comet is because he is like a case she needs to solve (though as her emotional connection to Comet grows, so does her desire to solve it for him).

September 2023 Books
The Twelve Dancing Princesses and Other Fairy Tales compiled by Alfred David and Mary Elizabeth Meek
Well, that certainly was a fairy tale collection. Some of these I hadn't read before. Some were more interesting than others.
The Dean's Watch by Elizabeth Goudge
I have nothing intelligent to say about it, but it was beautifully written and well characterized, as I have come to expect from Goudge.
13 Treasures by Michelle Harrison
An initially interesting premise that I found less interesting in execution. Rather a slog to read by the end.
The Merlin Conspiracy by Diana Wynne Jones
I enjoyed seeing more of characters from Deep Secret. The worldbuilding was intriguing, and it's got twists like all Jones novels. One of these twists had implications for a major relationship that I didn't think were fully explored and resolved.
I Want to Go Home! by Gordon Korman (reread)
What if Mike and Psmith were set at a summer camp in 1980s Canada? Because that's what this book is, and it's as entertaining as it sounds. I would love to know if Korman is a Psmith fan because the similarities between this book and M&P, down to even some minor details that have parallels, seem too many to be coincidental.
Jane of Lantern Hill by L. M. Montgomery (reread)
It's been a while since I've read this one, and I found just as enjoyable this time.
The Sky Is Falling, Looking at the Moon, and The Lights Go On Again by Kit Pearson (partial reread)
I read The Sky Is Falling a while back and enjoyed it as a fictional portrayal of the experiences of young British evacuees in Canada during WWII. But I can't say I enjoyed the rest of the series as much. The third book isn't so bad, but Looking at the Moon is less historical fiction than it is one of those supposed-to-be-relatable tales of a teenage girl experiencing her first crush (...on a young adult) and puberty and all that Blossoming Womanhood sort of thing. Which is not a genre that I've ever been able to enjoy.
The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, and The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan (partial reread)
I read the first book ages ago as an undergrad and figured I might as well finish out the series. Can't say I have particularly strong feelings about it, but it's been entertaining. Even if Riordan has no apparent idea what downtown Denver is like :P
Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson
I was not the target audience for this classic. Which has nothing whatsoever to do with its quality.
The Noonday Friends by Mary Stolz
I picked this up in a local antique store and was pleasantly surprised to find it a readable tale of life in a financially struggling family in 1960s Greenwich Village. Even the adults are thoughtfully characterized, which I appreciated.
Comics
I read every appearance of Chris Kent, who has joined the ranks of Superhero Children Whom I Am Concerned About. There are getting to be a lot of those.

Super Villains as Queer Icons
Tumblr media
by Ken Ham
In a recent article on the Atlantic magazine’s website, there was a culture piece that looked at horror movie villains as “queer icons.”
Without delving too deeply into the article—which included many forced associations as well as some movies which were specifically written from the LGBT perspective, the author, Mary Retta, looked at several different “movie monsters,” and one association really stood out. She quoted another author, Susan Stryker, who in 1994 said this in regard to Frankenstein’s monster: “The transsexual body is an unnatural body. It is the product of medical science. It is a technological construction. It is flesh torn apart and sewn together again in a shape other than that in which it was born.”
We’ve discussed numerous times the horrors of surgical mutilation and unnecessary hormone treatments that the transgender movement and an all-too-willing medical community have foisted upon young people who are undergoing a crisis in their lives or just the uncomfortable and tumultuous throes of puberty. Rather than looking to heal those who are hurting, this only adds to the pain and confusion of these young people. But the above “body” statement struck me as a reminder that everyone is remade in one way or another. Either we “remake” ourselves in our own fallen and distorted image by surgery, addiction, hedonism, false religion, doing what is right in our own eyes (Judges 21:25), or some other panacea which excludes God. Or as Scripture teaches, we are remade in the image of Christ.
While at first blush it may seem counterintuitive to compare human birth and Christian rebirth with Frankenstein and his monster, there are some striking parallels and contrasts. I’ll briefly list a few below, based on the “body” quote above. The Bible speaks about God “knitting” or “intricately weaving” us together in the womb (Psalm 139:13, 15). The development of the child in the womb is one of the wonders of the created world, wherein genetic material from the father and mother comes together to create a new, unique individual. Scripture rightly says that people are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). By contrast, Victor Frankenstein crudely sewed together his monster, hindered by the constraints of his abilities and tools. The resulting abomination is rejected in disgust by his creator.
There have been tremendous advances in reconstructive surgery, where surgeons reconstruct accident victims’ bodies to resemble their pre-accident selves. Prosthetics technology also gives people artificial parts to either compensate for birth defects (a sad consequence of the fall) or loss of body parts in accidents. These are good things and can be looked at as medical science attempting to alleviate some of the consequences of mankind’s sin.
Such science is also co-opted for so-called “gender affirmative care” in which biological males receive surgery and hormones to feminize their appearance and vice versa for women. However, there is no way to truly turn a male into a female or a female into a male. A man will never have the capacity to bear and nurse offspring as a mother does, and a woman will never father children. This sad imitation of manhood or womanhood robs them of their God-given femininity or masculinity that should be healthy and honoring for them as image-bearers of God. In this sin-cursed world, however, people are often confused, connived, or coerced into believing lies about their bodies, gender, or sexuality. Recently, videos have gone viral of “de-transitioners” who, having been given “cross-sex” hormones during their teen years, look neither masculine nor feminine and now realize the preciousness of what they gave up in this confusion.
While probably not the first comparison that comes to mind when thinking of the body of Christ and its members, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein has some curious biblical themes running throughout its pages. Whether they were entirely intentional or not is unclear (although it seems certain that many were, based on her 1831 introduction to Frankenstein). Shelly wrote the following lines to explain the moment that the monster came to life: “Frightful must it be; for supremely frightful would be the effect of any human endeavour to mock the stupendous mechanism of the Creator of the world.” Her book contains many other biblical allusions, usually antitheses to the creation account, as would be expected in a tale where man plays God in creating what Victor Frankenstein deems a “wretched monster.” Yet all these themes in the book showcase that Shelley had in mind an anti-creation horror concept embedded in her book that acknowledged the perfectness and goodness of the Genesis creation account and that man’s attempt to remake himself or attempt to instill life is futile and only leads to catastrophe. Only God can create and recreate humans (by new birth into Christ), as we are made in his image.

I never got how people misread shows. Shiv is a business mastermind? She immediately falls for any flattery. Well, that’s because she’s been neglected and ignored her entire life because she’s a woman. Then she can’t be the confident girlboss she’s thought to be, and either way, her womanhood does not matter because she weaponizes it against other women. It’s so circular, and it’s annoying.
I don’t mind people for liking Shiv for being so self-centered, but let’s not pretend she’s more than that.
Same with people sympathizing with Tom, which I get, and then calling him female-coded when he’s had every structural advantage in his life, he got away with the cruises scandal, he wants to knock Shiv up before he goes to prison so she can’t get with other people because she’ll be pregnant with his baby, and then who ends up as CEO. What even? They call him female-coded and hence weak because he gets bullied by his wife and he likes fancy things and wine. It’s so superficial and boring compared to what the show actually is.
Well that's the thing, it's this "Shiv's #girlboss ways smash the patriarchy" "Shiv saved her brothers" "Shiv is just SUCH a victim of circumstance" framing that ends up irritating me because that's just projection and twisting her into a character to make yourself feel better for liking her, if you want to like Shiv like Shiv for who she textually is, she's a white feminist who will choose to uphold the systems that oppress and marginalize because she'll ultimately be fine and get a taste of the power, just like liking Kendall is to like a man who accosted his ex wife in the street and then his sister at the office and who killed a waiter at a party and was steadily becoming a monster and liking Roman is liking a character who tried to push a fascist into power so he could be the golden boy and he doesn't view society and people in society as real. They are. all. terrible. people. Portrayed by excellent, excellent actors. With nuanced, careful writing.
I can't even touch the Tom thing right now.

Feminist Recs for Anime (For Women’s History Month)
If you want a little more in-depth explanation, then check out my previous post, but this is a project I’ll be dabbling in for women’s history month. Throughout March (we’re already five days in, I know, don’t mention it), I’ll be recommending feminist anime, or at least anime I believe are feminist, for you to add to your list as a celebration for women’s history month.
These anime feature strong female protagonists, fleshed out casts of female characters, little to no fanservice, and some have social and political themes related to womanhood, female friendships, and focus on female-driven narratives.
2. Sailor Moon (Original 90s Anime)
Tumblr media
Features a majority female cast with a female lead and a sci-fi fantasy story.
Tumblr media
Today, we’re going with a classic. Everyone knows what Sailor Moon is. Even if they don’t know the names of all the senshi, and even if they haven’t picked up a single issue of the manga or watched a single episode of either one of the anime adaptations, they still probably know the words to the English theme song or can attribute the now iconic sailor uniforms to this show. Not to mention this catchphrase. Sailor Moon has become a staple of the magical girl genre and is responsible for its popularity and many of the tropes we now associate with it.
For a run down on the story, Sailor Moon is about Usagi Tsukino; an ordinary teenage girl who is one day assigned a magical destiny to become a sailor senshi (a guardian and monster fighter), find a missing princess, and defeat an evil queen who’s in some way responsible for her disappearance (at least this is the plot of the first season cause the show drifts away from this initial story as we’re exposed to more villains and characters). Along the way, she finds the other senshi and learns more about her duty to not just the Earth, but to her galaxy.
Tumblr media
Sailor Moon is well-beloved for a reason. It’s funny (think slapstick and situational humor), and starts off with relatively low stakes, but as the show goes on, the mystery and intrigue surrounding this story is slowly revealed to us. It’s big in terms of the scale of its plot. Since this is a sci-fi focused on planetary themed heroes, the villains and challenges vary between monster of the week to galaxy-level threats, especially in later episodes and seasons. Villains become harder to defeat, and the ensuing battles as you near the end of seasons becomes so gripping it’s hard to resist stopping once you’ve reached the final 5 or 6 episode finales.
Tumblr media
Most of the characters aren’t the most deep or unique, but they are all fun and likable, and they’re definitely solid in terms of how diverse they’re portrayals of femininity are. This is one area where Sailor Moon shines. More than most Western animated shows, Sailor Moon managed to offer varied depictions of teenage girls unseen at the time. Some were elegant and artistic like Sailor Neptune, others were hot-headed and ambitious like Sailor Mars. You had the quiet intelligence of Sailor Mercury as well as the determined passion of Sailor Venus.
Makoto, aka. Sailor Jupiter, one of my favorites of the senshi, embodies this femininity concept as she is both feminine (an excellent cook and hopeless romantic), as well as masculine (brave, strong, and an excellent fighter). The anime doesn’t demonize femininity or masculinity, and as a result, the characters are allowed to fall on a scale in terms of their gender expression (which we’ll get to later). While the anime has since been criticized for having characters who feel too rooted in stagnant tropes, I think that, for the most part, the sailor senshi are given enough screen time and development to at least be easy to root for. And, the relationships the girls have with each other really inspires you to love them as you become invested in their friendship.
Tumblr media
And, of course, Usagi, our Sailor Moon, is a protagonist who ages well. This is a chosen one story, and I’d argue that it’s one of the better ones because of how it handles Usagi. She famously starts out as a lazy, flighty crybaby but comes into her own as a leader and learns to take her destiny more seriously (…for the most part anyway). The chosen one narrative really lands because, as the series progresses, we see Usagi grapple with her responsibilities. Her kindness is valued as much as her strength, if not more. The thing that makes her question and voice regrets towards her destiny is the same thing that drives her to make good choices, especially in the later seasons.
Tumblr media
Beyond the coming of age themes featured heavily in this show, there are themes of fate, love, loneliness, responsibility, and even moral and philosophical questions asked later on in the show when our characters are a little older. Relationships are important in this series whether they be the romantic (think Sailor Uranus and Neptune as well as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask), or platonic. Friendships, specifically female friendships, are not only seen as important. They’re a superpower. As much as Usagi’s relationship with Mamoru, aka. Tuxedo Mask, is an important relationship throughout the series, it’s the bond Usagi shares with her fellow senshi and friends that helps them save the world, and as cheesy as that sounds, to have something so simple and so beautiful be the solution to end of the world level problems feels comforting in the times we’re in right now.
Tumblr media
When it comes to the good, Sailor Moon is a mixture of fun, episodic adventures and serialized, earth-shattering conflicts. Also, there’s the show’s overall aesthetic. While the animation itself is pretty slow and stilted, (particularly in the older seasons), the backgrounds are very pretty to look at and the fashion is objectively magnificent (unless your Tuxedo Mask then rip). There’s a reason you see so many aesthetic boards related to this anime. The pastel, watercolor style is so nice to look at. As for the soundtrack, it’s as magical as the show. Some favorites of mine, besides the theme song, are the ending of season 3, Tuxedo Mirage, Moon Revenge, and We Believe You.
There’s also Sailor Moon’s diversity in terms of gender expression and sexuality. The girls often talk about boys, Usagi even has a relationship with Mamoru (the only recurring male character for a solid four seasons if you don’t count Artemis), but they’re not straight in the slightest. With the entrance of two important characters, Sailor Moon displays it’s first instance of LGBT representation that would set the series a part from other anime of this time:
Sailor Uranus and Neptune.
Tumblr media
The same way Sailor Moon earns its status as a mainstay in Shoujo and magical girl anime, Sailor Uranus and Neptune, aka. Haruka and Michiru deserve their status as one of the best examples of LGBT representation not only in Shoujo, not only in anime, but in media itself. Even though we (technically) never see them share a kiss, the relationship between Haruka and Michiru is one of the strongest in the series. They’re given history, they get to express affection. These two are literally meant to be by each other’s side. When they enter the series, suddenly all of our protagonists display some level of attraction towards them, especially towards Haruka, and increasingly it isn’t seen as weird to them where it once was. Best of all, Haruka and Michiru are characters who are allowed to be beautiful and talented as well as morally-questionable, even downright unlikable, and while this makes it hard for some fans to enjoy their 90s portrayal, I really like having one of the earliest examples of queer characters in anime being two women who are admirable and heroic as much as they are unsympathetic and flawed.
But Sailor Moon doesn’t stop at inclusions of LGBT relationships. It also explores gender identity in a way that still feels unfamiliar even now. Haruka is more butch-presenting. The aforementioned Jupiter is both girly and tomboyish, and then there’s the depiction of the Sailor Starlights as gender-fluid. One of the Sailor Starlights, Seiya, even had a (mostly) unrequited crush on Usagi.
Tumblr media
Now for the…not so good.
Sailor Moon is long. Like…absurdly long, and like most long-running anime, this is due to massive amounts of filler. I will say that the filler episodes vary. Some have great character moments, some are emotional, and there are some episodes which are just as much must-watches as any plot-drive episode. I’d even argue for some of the filler arcs people like to skip such as the twin alien arc of season 2 and the Nephrite arc which, while creepy and weird and definitely worthy of criticism, offers greater development for a side character and gives us our first glimpse of a sympathetic villain.
That’s not to say there aren’t any bad filler episodes. That’s definitely not the case. Sailor Moon has its fair share of boring, tedious, or otherwise unnecessary episodes which do nothing to develop the characters or flesh out their dynamic. The original anime is 200 episodes long, so it’s up to you to decide if you want to watch all the episodes or if you want to plow through and decide which episodes are worth your time because I can say that not all of them are.
There’s also the divisive nature of Usagi, or rather, how she’s treated. For some, the show is too mean-spirited to her regarding her laziness and immaturity (basically her child-like traits because she’s, y’know, a child). For some, this is particularly egregious with how she’s treated by Luna, Chibi Moon, and Sailor Mars. This is also a good time to mention the…strange diet culture surrounding Sailor Moon. It isn’t unique to this series, sadly, and it isn’t even the worst example of it. Everything from Toradora to Azumanga Daioh to K-On to Lucky Star has dialogue and even certain characters who are the butt of fat jokes or minor, but still present, diet plot lines. Sailor Moon isn’t the worst offender, but it’s still present, particularly with Usagi who, despite being as skinny as all of the other senshi, seems to be the main recipient of weight-related comments.
Tumblr media
So, if you want a show with a wide variety of female characters and a greater focus on their friendships and heroism, and if you’re willing to deal with some filler content, minor references to diet culture (as long as you skip episode 4 I’m begging you to skip episode 4 it’s not good), and some minor but persistent humor poking fun at our protagonist, then I think everyone looking for female-centric anime should start here.
(Also if you’re willing to put up with some pretty nonsensical drama between Usagi and Mamoru for two seasons, give this a shot).

No need to share if you don't want to, but if you want to talk about your characters' genders/sexualities I'd love to hear about them!
i LOVE to talk about my kids!
i'm just gonna go down the list; if i don't mention someone here, assume they're bi and cis and that their relationship to their gender/sexuality/etc. just doesnt have enough in there to make me wanna talk about it
alia is bi and has a ( hand wiggles ) relationship with gender; some of it's just the inherent trauma of how elven women are treated causing her to want to reject some of it, some of its a true - ish form of gender dysphoria ( one of the few bad parts about having enough to eat now is that she fills out properly and starts having tits ) and most of it's a combo of the two. she identifies as a woman and that's unlikely to change, if only because she lacks other language, but internally she prefers androgynous terms of address, something zevran picks up early.
johana is a cis lesbian! her family and much of court doesn't approve!
natia is a cis woman and bi but like. she feels a similar 'being a woman in the commonly understood sense has created in me a lot of a trauma' thing to what alia does, but natia leans harder into BEING a woman because of it, as a way to spite the ones that sought to make her womanhood bad. she's not particularly feminine, it's not like that; it's more like she doesn't feel any innate sense of her own womanhood but she CHOOSES IT very intentionally. it's not a gender identity it is a gender CHOICE.
eilonwy is a cis woman and bi, but she has a DRAMATIC preference for women. gay until provoked
adahli is a trans woman and bi with a fairly significant preference for men!
sion is a GNC cis bi woman; she gets increasingly butchy as time passes. despite both being bi she and merrill do sort of look like the platonic ideal of a lesbian butch/femme couple
ahvir is agender, uses she/they, and is bi. no real preference for any particular gender, but does have a lot of internalized homophobia related to her attraction to men due to childhood trauma involving a girl she was in love with
isala is a trans woman and she did her own bottom surgery! she learned blood magic to do her own bottom surgery! bi, preference for men
dhea'mis is a trans woman. isn't particularly interested in bottom surgery, likes her dick just fine. so does josephine. bi, but with a minor preference for women.
marigold is a cis lesbian! falls in love with sera basically at first sight.
alexei is a cis gay man with terrible taste.
inessa beats gender with a STICK! she has no gender, but still uses she/her because using others would be more work than she cares about. bi, preference for men, has INSANELY high standards (you need to be at least as much of a revolutionary as she is, which is a hard to standard to meet)
dove doesn't use labels and finds them stifling, but she doesn't feel that gender is a meaningful part of her identity and she feels attraction to people of all genders. she falls under the ace umbrella
daiynn is a she/they/occasionally it, bi, minor preference for men! serana beat all the odds because shes perfect
xin yi doesn't use labels but she's almost exclusively attracted to women. cis woman but in the sense that she just doesn't give a shit
noe uses they/them, tho is okay with 'she' from people they're very close to. no real gender identity aside from "null." or maybe just "monster." either way! prefers masc folks but is attracted to everybody in practice
rue uses all and any pronouns, does not give a shit, and identifies as every gender at once. she is a girl when she's ciel's girlfriend. he is a boy when they are romeo's best bro. they are none of the above when they are hanging out. doesn't matter. experiences romantic attraction extremely rarely; ciel was really the first person he'd ever really felt that towards. does have a type for mysterious white-haired girls, tho
ena uses she/they, but prefers they broadly speaking. bi!
soma is a girl that's a guy. a dude that's a gal. uses she/they pronouns for herself but really doesn't care what you do, has no sense of their gender identity or of gender mattering to that identity. bi, no preference.
jetta is a cis bi woman who uses she/they! preference for ladies :D
quinn is agender and bi!
valda is bi and transfem. as far as attraction goes, they've got a bit of a preference for masculinity but no real preference regarding actual gender
andi is nonbinary and bi
erin is a cis lesbian but has just genuinely godawful taste
blake is agender and, while i wouldn't call them transmasc, they do prefer dressing masculinely and would rather be called your boyfriend than your girlfriend, yknow. only attracted to men.
rory just uses the word queer; no gender, no preference re: attraction
austen doesn't use labels, but does go by they/them. bi!
luca is agender and t4t, specifically with a preference for other nonbinary folks
delilah is nonbinary and bi
jocasta is every gender and none of them. fuck you. goes by she/they/he/it, but also doesn't really care what you call them. attraction is simply Queer
delight is utterly genderless and very bi! dislikes being gendered by friends or loved ones but doesn't care about it from strangers

👾!!
Tyyy!!
one from Celia's! Dessa is one of the two main artists i associate with Celia n co's story, and Fire Drill has a massive link to Celia, especially her relationship with womanhood & poverty. its a song i associate most with a younger Celia, but carries on being relevant
[i picked wayy to many lines out to talk about, so under the cut it is!]
Cut my hair, tape my tits down
teen Celia was cutting her hair short and wearing to tight bras long before she was living as a man, trying to be mistaken for a boy and distance herself from being seen as a 'girl' in general, trying to reduce the reminders people would have that she was not one of the boys, literally.
A woman on her own must be from out of town
Even Elena was firmly entrenched in the group, and Celia was no different. safety is found in numbers, and lone wolves end up hurt. Celia and Elena threw their lot in with the boys, because they couldn't with the girls, and because anything is better than being alone.
Funny, you don't know the concessions that you're making until you catalog em And by then they're many and you're battle-hardened
Celia was just a little girl, then she became a monster, and although she can see in hindsight how it happened, at the time it felt like barely any difference at all. she made concession after concession, had decision after hard decision, all in the moment, all with pressure on her shoulders, and its not until after it all, years and years after, she can see just how much damage shes taken, just how much she changed, and by then she practically numb, drowning in an ocean of blood and battle hardened.
I'm here to file my report as the vixen of the wolf pack;
Celia, by the previous leaders and candidates dying or getting life changing injuries, becomes the leader of the 'pack', a girl leading men, a vixen. it also links to how she used to be fairly low down, weak and a scavenger, until the numbers where whittled down, and ven then it took a few years for her to be a strong leader, a wolf among wolves.
Tell Patient Zero, he can have his rib back
referencing Adam, but also given the stand arrow gives a virus, its her saying that she doesn't want this power, but also- Eve came from Adam, almost as an afterthought, and she was hit with the stand arrow as an afterthought, with the man meant to get it dying, failing idk i find it intresting.
You can count my ribs Wanna know what class I'm in- Count my You can count my ribs
the malnourishment Celia experienced stunted her growth massively, and she was a skinny teenager, like many people she knew, due to living in poverty, because of her class. also links to her eventually showing more chest, with her wrap top under jacket, and the story that adam has one less rib, daring people to not call her a man.
You can't be too broke to break As a woman always something left to take So you shouldn't try to stay too late or talk to strangers Look too long, go too far out of range cause Angels can't watch everybody all the time Stay close, hems low, safe inside; That formula works if you can live it But it works by putting half the world off limits
there is always further to fall, something more to take. to Celia, and due to the environment she was in, being a woman mean being a victim, and as outlines in the song, there were so many ways you had to stay safe, and it puts so much of the world of limits. Celia doesn't want to have to live like this, and so she rejects what places her there, femininity and womanhood. as a teen, Celia felt so much rage at how her gender confined her, and then forcibly removed it.
its also ironic, with how despite rejecting being a woman, she is still living a life of running fire drills, still has left her ambitions to just stay safe, still spends all her time vigilant.
this song is not a 1:1 with Celia, but is very tied to her character, especially in vibes. it fits best early on, her anger at how her gender confines her, but the vibes follow her.

from my screenshots (i can’t find the post anymore :/) because it’s the thing that really got me noticing how common this sort of body dissociation is for female people. Not tagging op because I can’t tell if they deleted for privacy:
"I've seen so many ["AFAB" trans people] like this, it's like they want to be literally anything other than human, they hate their bodies so much.
You don't see ["AMAB" trans people] IDing as the void or clouds or swirling galaxies or robots or bog bodies. It's just women who want to come apart at the seams, shed their physical forms, and float away. And somehow they think this is a totally healthy thing, and that it's based on personal identity and not shared experiences of girlhood and womanhood that make us want to go feral and tear ourselves apart and make ourselves insubstantial."
Anecdotally I do think some AMAB trans people have this experience but it’s way way more common with AFAB trans people. And frankly just female people in general, tumblr used to be full of posts about not wanting to be perceived, wanting to be the void, wanting to disappear into nothingness. Many of my female friends have made jokes like that. I know I have felt like that. As a kid my favorite characters were often computers, robots, or genderless video game creatures.
You can even expand this - the so called “monster lover” community is mostly made up of women as far as I see. Women fantasizing about falling in love with a robot, or a werewolf, or the swamp thing, etc. If crushes are misplaced ambition, what does it mean that many women resonate with the fantasy of falling in love with a non human being?
