presenting the dsmp country flag quiz!!

inspired by this ask, I made a little google form to see if you know some of the flags of the different dsmp countries/factions!

Thinking about the horror aspect of the DSMP is so awesome because like— yeah we have the prison, and it’s fucking terrifying. But also there’s the fucking Egg. Like the Masquerade episode of Tales from the SMP really showed how terrifying it was all the way back then. And then the whole Sam Bucket stuff too!!! It’s like— ugh I love it so much. I can go on for hours how I love when the DSMP can get terrifying.

We need more terrifying vibes from the DSMP tbh.

the body: slowing the spread

The first thing that I thought of when I saw this prompt for @sixteenth-day-event was the scene where Hannah culled her pets to slow the spread of the Egg. I thought a video game inspired scene fit the small canvas that I'm practicing pixel art on :D

If I had a nickel for every time BadBoyHalo went insane over an egg…I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

The fact that q!BBH references Egglore I just-

I do think it’s super interesting to think about q!bbh’s character with the knowledge that his past life/past history with the eggpire is affecting his political stance and decision making. He’s terrified of having someone put into a powerful position where they have the potential of being puppeted in part because that’s what happened to him.

He’s willing to potentially kill candidates to prevent that type of corruption from even having a chance to occur because… well, maybe that’s what he had wanted someone to do to him. Maybe he’s looking at this situation and seeing something else. Maybe his anarchist stance, and his fear of a figurehead government is actually a fear of something else. Maybe he sees it as kindness, to kill the puppet and cut its strings before its master can force it to dance - can force it to suffer.

Maybe he wishes someone had been kind to him, once upon a time.

it’s insane how death is both a blessing and a curse when dealing with the egg. as far as we know, the only way to fully be free from the egg’s control is to die, however getting killed near the egg or by someone that is corrupted only makes it stronger. even just being around the egg without the proper precautions will drive others to kill each other, not realizing they’re also under it’s influence. it’s a trap twisted in all directions.

You guys don't know how I'm still so crazy about D!Skephalo. They are so damn tragic together, it's painful to see, D!Skeppy dependant to The Egg, Acting as if this thing is some otherworldly god that gave him everything. Everything he does is related to The Egg in some form of way. He is apathetic and does not care about the wellbeing of others unless it had to do something with The Egg. The Egg hurts him but he does not care nor will he realize it and stops, he has made his life revolve around It in the hallucination that the world is against him and The Egg is truly the only one there for him. He trusts no one. The Egg is the only one he can trust. He follows it blindly, not caring about his wellbeing or the immoral choices The Egg will make.

While D!Bad is also dependant on D!Skeppy, actively trying to pursue the other and ignoring all the abuse he's causing to himself, trying to make use of what he has ( or barely any. ) He'd recognized that what they used to have together cannot be fixed but still chooses to walk blind folded, living in the fake reality he had created in his mind.

And the only reason they are still together is because they have to be, D!Bad ( literally ) cannot live without D!Skeppy and still holds and clings to him even if it hurts him. D!Skeppy follows under the shadow of The Egg and who is the acting leader for The Egg? Badboyhalo. ( This is where I give an example of their dynamic but I don't have any ideas sorry 😞 )

They are so fucking tragic I love it. D!Bad is gripping on vines to get to D!Skeppy, vines that have protruding thorns that are digging onto his body and making him bleed red. D!Skeppy keeps taking a mind numbing drug that has destroyed his life and his slowly destroying himself.

jack is actually not as susceptible as he should be, because of the spite that’s keeping him alive. his constant suspicion of betrayal is enough to keep the egg out of his head, and he’d only been transfixed by it before because he was more focused on getting primes

instead of attacking tommy after the nuke testing, jack went to the egg and decided to try and poison him with the vines. skeppy had led bad to the egg the next morning, where jack was still passed out drunk

under the influence of the egg, the snow makes jack feel like he’s burning. he only gets rid of that feeling when he’s touching the egg, even though that leaves real burns all along his arms

he doesn’t notice most of the changes to himself. jack sees that the blue stripes of his hoodie are now red, but it takes him weeks for tubbo to mention his eyes (the red one is now white and the blue one is now red). by the time vines begin to grow around his head, he’s fully encouraging it

niki has tried to stop the egg’s effects on jack by destroying the vines on his head, but they’re connected to him. it doesn’t really hurt for them to be removed or cut, but the egg sends pain signals into his mind

the egg constantly tells him that Tommy told other members of the eggpire horrible things about him, which makes him a lot more aggressive. jack is also very cheerfully cruel to tubbo whenever he rebuffs invitations to see the egg

the eggpire recognizes that jack was never really held in high regards by most of the server, so jack tends to be the one who intimidates people. it actually works well because jack acts so unusual to how people expect him to be

before, jack was mainly kept alive by his spite and need for revenge, which slowly becomes fainter and fainter in his mind as he envelopes himself in all matters of the egg. as a result, the egg and his devotion is what keeps him alive, but his body is considered dead. after jack begins regularly coughing up blood, tubbo decides to start helping niki

the manifork manages to stay blue, but is one of the first things to get affected by the vines. the points of it are cracked and chipping, and in a few spots the only thing keeping it together are the blood vines wrapped around it

the big jack manifold hotel turns white overnight after vines cover the wooden columns; it also becomes the main meeting place of the eggpire, although jack abandons it soon after he’s infected
