my psychiatrist gave me a book to read. its to help w grief and suicidal ideation, im supposed to pick parts out that spoke to me and this is what i have so far

🪐"i am hoping for a small, old house and an old garden where i may spend a long period by myself with nothing but nature and a few things pulsing with the gentle rhythms of the past"

🪐"death, especially the most felt and experienced death, has never remained an obstacle to life for surviving individual, because it's innermost essence is not contrary to us (as one may occasionally suspect), but it is more knowing about life than we are in our most vital moments"

currently thinking that perhaps Gaster is not a skeleton, but a closely related type of monster

#a ghoul maybe? most types of monsters don't have well-defined names ingame but the taxonomist in me is compelled to name things #anyway. people have assumed he's a skeleton based on the font thing (and perhaps on his eyes. which do seem to behave similarly to sans')#but his sprite...uh the mysteryman sprite...doesn't actually look #particularly skeleton-y.#(related to skeletons still though because i'm attached to dadster)#gaster #dingbats dust and darkness #anyway if i'm posting a lot about gaster and/or undertale headcanons it's because of the gaster backstory fic i came up with in 2016 #which recently bubbled up to the top of my mind again as it is prone to do at random intervals.#this will probably not result in actual writing of the fic because i'm trying to focus my writing attention on the pokemon characters that #also bubble to the top of my mind at random intervals #and on the actual novel. also because dingbats dust and darkness (the fic) needs pretty broad rewrites.#(yes i named this blog after that fic)#but probably do expect drawings of some of the ocs from it.#(mostly snails. annum and geo aren't that important and arial's design continues to vex me)#(wow that got long)

having to live and exist in one room that includes all of my houseplants truly hindering my circadian rhythm

#its like people do work night shifts and if i could idk #have a pitch dark room when the sun starts to rise #while im doing stupid surveys i cant pass up #i could probably fall asleep relatively normally/at least get the right amount of hours in even if its delayed #but uhhhhhh i do not have a single shade or curtain. in this room #so i get super awake around 5:30am :)#and then when i do fall asleep i wake up around 9:30am :)#and cannot fall back asleep or at least not for longer than 1 hour intervals :)#and having a sleep mask doesnt help bcus i need it to like...be dark...WHILE im working ghkhg AGH

not sure but in regards to my main antag of RT INTERVALS, I'm almost afraid to write them with more sympathetic traits. people are free to make interpretations of what they read, that is true and that is always that beauty in seeing something different from the same mirror.

it just happens that said character is (alongside most of the ocs i have) are personal to a degree and parallel some things.

it is probably my mistake to have a story mirror some aspects of me too closely, but as of now it will progress as it is. the characters are supposed to be nuanced, or somewhat complex. both sides are hurting but one side is actively, passively making the decision to hurt the other. no one is the pure good. the closest that would be is c!blue. the darkest on the spectrum would be c!dark, and yet he is not the main antagonist.

i want to make it clear that the antag is not excessively cruel just for the fun of it (they can be) but that a lot of their actions are from grief and some kind of "responsibility". it's piled on with a lot of stuff, but I'm afraid to show that the antag truly cares because then the meaning may be lost. I'm afraid people will take the antag's side, just because they are hurting and pin the main characters for "not doing enough".

there is no catch all solution. there is no talking out, because it falls on deaf ears. there is no holding hands with the enemy. no one has that emotional capacity, that knowledge. it should also not fall on the victim to "fix" their captor, their abuser.

the ending will be weirdly triumphant, yes, almost out of a show. things are still being decided but one thing is for sure. there is no happy ending for ALL, there is no "karma".

c!nameless is not taking c!dark's side, but they're not taking c!nocide's side either. they just want out.

still prefer cold to heat but I gotta say, it is INCREDIBLY annoying when you come back inside and start to thaw out after being Actually Cold and it feels like nothing can make you get warmer

#could this have been prevented by not spending 30+ minutes in sub-37ºF weather in shorts and sandals #probably #have I internalized any lessons from tonight that will carry over until next time #likely not #anyways another brilliant night of stargazing but unsuccessful night of comet hunting #as the moon waxes so too does the doubt #TECHNICALLY we've probably gotten a bunch of pictures with the comet in the field #just not actually. visible #but it was done!#hoping to try the pre-dawn dark and see if the timing makes any difference #the only downside is the best most deserted yet safest place with no nearby lights is also near the airport #which means this gigantic lighthouse-like light swings around at regular intervals and interrupts the otherwise remarkable darkness #ANYWAYS FINGERS CROSSED FOR TOMORROW #Cheese's personal molasses #comet hunters (2023)#(hopefully coming soon to a telescope near you)
