#I've played with irl atheists and catholics and everything in between #but it rarely feels like faith is a real factor for anyone-- DM or player #outside of‚ again‚ divine spellcasters and Big Epic Plot Things #I mean there are a couple of 'RAAAHGH FUCK THE GODS >:C' edgy backstory types but #no one is just Normally Culturally Religious and it's WEIRD #like it's not even a matter of faith in dnd! the gods are LITERALLY OBJECTIVELY PROVABLY REAL #so what does that MEAN for the average person! how does it shape language? business? culture?#where are the people wearing holy symbols like amulets-- or the way modern christians very casually wear crosses?#blessings over meals? prayers before bed? burnt offerings?#and like I enjoy thinking about world and culture building but I know that's A Whole Thing but even just like...#it doesn't feel like anyone believes in gods at all except clerics and paladins #like they DO because they factually exist but in the same way I 'believe in' like. the president of france.#like yeah he exists and is important to some people but has no bearing on my life whatsoever #that's such a fucking weird approach to the DIVINE in a polytheist world where those gods are YOUR CULTURE'S GODS??#I am bad at this myself but I'm not religious so it's harder for me to remember what Being Religious All The Time Casually is like lol #funny enough my character with the most intentionally religious background in this sense #is one of my ones who's ended up wrapped up in Big Plot God Things lmao #'aubree starts the campaign with a holy symbol of yondalla because of course she does why wouldn't she'#'oh okay well she's gonna get deeply and personally entangled with a bunch of death gods immediately' fdkjghkdf oh!! welp #you don't really pray to urogalan unless you're breaking ground for a new building or someone just died so it's STILL weird for her lol #but at least I had the framework there of 'oh yeah the gods exist and matter to me and my everyday life and culture' in general #about me #posts from twitter

started a sourdough starter!!! It’s not even that much abt bread; I just like the idea of having a pet and this is about the max amount of responsibility I’m looking for rn

#an emotional support living flour sludge if u will #altho the conditions aren’t ideal rn: it’s negative degrees so I don’t have a warm enough of a place probably so if (big if) it starts to #ferment it’ll take longer (which means u gotta be extra much on the lookout for mold)#could put it in the oven with just the light on but that freaks me out; I don’t wanna have the oven on for like days (even tho it wouldn’t #actually be on)#also I only have all-purpose flour & whole meal is the best one to induce fermentation #also the flour is past it’s best before date bc I haven’t rly been baking (also one of thr reasons I’m doing this bc like gotta use #up the flour somehow)#so u know we’ll see if anything comes out of this #if nothing else at least I’ll have a project for a couple days #also I’m not naming it yet; that’s for when it’s going strong bc I don’t need to be crying after getting emotionally attached to a #blob of flour & water when said blob dies tragically #march 2024 #2024

If you struggle with meal prep I highly recommend bento boxes because having compartments changes the game

#once i get a couple more weeks in i wanna post mine because I've been so happy with them #THEYRE ALL HEALTHY AND BALANCED and look pretty cause its not all smooshed together like a witch's cauldron #AND HAVING COMPARTMENTS....THAT I DONT NEED TO HEAT UP.....#i can actually have sides and sauces without a bagillion extra containers that i never would pack #I mean I meal prepped before but I rarely found it yummy and stuck to like. wraps and such #BUT MAN...now its a joy

Wait, what do the neighbours do to more or less get money? Like what do they do for quests wise?

Howdy's tavern has a board where people can post jobs/quest requests - a lot like in Fairy Tail! a lot of times requests are sent in the mail to any tavern/area that will post them, so you gotta be quick about responding before anyone else does. if the posting was sent in, they have to reply via some form of message to confirm it and essentially say "dont let anyone else take the job, i'm/we're on my/our way"

the quests/jobs have a wide range. sometimes its like "collect this item for me", sometimes its "bodyguard me & my belongings while i travel", and it can be "kill the monster terrorizing my town." it can be anything! it's a mixed bag!

and its a little risky, too. the job postings arent always... In Depth. one time the Neighborhood rushed somewhere because the posting just said HUGE EMERGENCY, LIVES IN DANGER but in reality it was an elderly farmer who had them build a new coop for her chickens before the winter frost. then another time it was all "id like help with a small issue at our town's border" and then the Neighborhood got there and it was a fuckoff huge dragon that they were Not prepared to handle.

the Neighborhood doesnt just take job postings though! their travels often take a while because they'll get into shenanigans/trouble, or in completing one job something else will be asked of them, etc. they also don't always do it for money. if someone's in trouble while they're traveling, theyre gonna help without asking for compensation.

#sometimes their jobs/quests start at home base #sometimes they have to travel #sometimes someone will even arrive asking specifically for them!#the length of their travels also varies wildly #sometimes its a couple days #sometimes its a couple months #one time they didnt return to home base for a year #now THAT was an adventure #rambles from the bog #wh fantasy au #the neighborhood is known for being capable and very helpful #so theyre lowkey celebrities! theyre the pride of their lil town <3 #but yeah their skills and time tends to be in high demand #people will sometimes send their requests specifically to howdy's tavern #in the hopes of the neighborhood picking it up #but yeah honestly they do more Unpaid stuff than paid #they're always doing a coin check - who has what & can they afford a hot meal at an inn #all of them crouched in a circle counting out their collective money after a completed job #thats why theyre always happy when howdy joins - he rakes in So much extra shine #also hes their friend. but with him around they can afford to sleep in beds #oh my god howdy is the neighborhoods sugar daddy #sugarpillar....

okay this is a very personal hot take but i genuinely don't believe dazai is as self destructive as he may seem.

#this is going to be a rant/vent here in the tags but #there's something abt some dz character studies. they really make a point of like... thinness. lack of eating. it bothers me a lot #i actually don't think he's like. actively starving or whatever. maybe his appetite come in waves. sometimes when u don't feel hungry at al #you end up not eating until it's wayy too late then you might eat too much bc u feel that hungry. then instantly regret it.#and then skip the next couple of meals #idkkk i've struggled with disordered eating. i don't like how callously its treated. it often seems kind of.. glamourized #i hate that.#in general dz seems like a glamorized character within the fandom. partly bc he's very pretty and simultaneously broken and self destructiv #** in my personal view based on personal experience**#don't reference my tags btw
