Life got in the way for writing, and I am not where I hoped where I would be by Feb 01... Trying to catch up with the chapters... but at least, there is a moodboard!
I never noticed this until recently, but when we first see the villagers gathered for Gaston and Belle's wedding (which, of course, never takes place), the Bimbettes aren't crying right away. They just look up at Gaston with faintly concerned/disconcerted expressions, and one of them even briefly smiles at him, while the second one whispers something in the third one's ear, and then the third one puts her hand to her face. They only break down crying after Gaston says "But first I'd better go in there and propose to the girl."
I think there are three possible explanations for this:
They knew Gaston was the bridegroom, but they didn't know who the bride would be. Their expressions when he steps forward convey a blend of anxiety and hope as they wait for him to reveal the bride's identity – hoping it will be one of them, but anxious that it might be someone else – and then they break down crying when they realize it's Belle.
They didn't know Gaston was the bridegroom. They were presumably just invited to help set up "a wedding." Since it's in front of Belle's house, maybe they even knew she was the bride. Maybe they were even told "Belle's getting married." But they didn't know Gaston was the groom, and their expressions when he steps forward convey surprise.
They know all along that the wedding is for Gaston and Belle. In that moment, they're just trying not to look too sad for Gaston's sake, until he actually talks about proposing to Belle, at which point they can't help but cry.
Disney Wiki suggests #2, but Disney Wiki takes many questionable interpretations of things. I'm most tempted to believe #1. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
I was on the Descendants wiki and came across this. Is there any information I don't know? Because as far as she was aware, it was always said that Gil's mother was one of The Bimbettes (Laurette to be more exact). Although we don't know much about Gil's mother: she knows how to sew, is she dead or alive?, she was blonde (or so we can induce by Gil). Well comment.
Crossover shipping idea, I feel like they would balance each other out. One of them is a sneaky cunning and evil guy, the other is a ditz with a heart of gold. They would probably be a great rom com couple.
Laurette smiled politely at Mr. McWiggin as he walked passed her in the lobby. She turned her key in the mail slot reading ‘3A’ and her many attached trinkets jingled. It was like any other day, Laurette checked the mail before she went back up to the apartment when she got home from work. Junk, junk, bill, junk... oh.
She shuffled through the envelopes and froze right there in the lobby when she saw the two gryphons reared back surrounding a crown and a shield. It was her letter from Pride U. Her fate was tri-folded in a tiny tan envelope. As she walked back up the stairs, Laurette thought about just chucking it out before it ever made it inside the front door. But Paulette was smarter than that... she’d know that they’d be getting a letter whether her sister got in or not. Right. She wasn’t even sure if she got in or not!
The witch stopped before entering her home and ripped the letter open with her key. Moment of truth.
‘Congratulations, Ms. Laurette de la Croix!’
Merde! Of course she got in. She was a Magick and had decent grades. In a quiet panic, she shoved the letter into her back pocket and entered the apartment. “Pauls, mail is on the table!” She called out, expecting her sister to be in her bedroom still. Laurette tossed the remaining letters on their dining table in its usual spot and made her way to the kitchen to fetch a snack.
