fr tho @staff why are you trying to make tumblr more like other sites why are you destroying your niche in the market please there have got to be ways to make tumblr more accessible to new users without sacrificing the very things that your existing userbase loves
#its a genuine problem... I have had friends sign up for tumblr and then not use it because they dont know how to navigate non-algorithmic sm#but come on. there have got to be ways to build up the onboarding process so that people learn how to search for blogs + content#and/or ways to create separate contained algorithmic feeds OR to create the option to turn the algorithmic feed off like it is rn#and honestly I do think tumblr's focus should be more on 'how do we convince people non-algorithmic is good'#rather than 'how do we become algorithmic'#there's gotta be a whole angle in there right??? something like emphasizing that on tumblr you find the content YOU want#not the content we want you to want#also the whole thing about drawing in new creators. have they talked to existing creators??????? bc I dont know that they want algorithms#i dont know I just think tumblr will never be able to do the algorithm better than sites like FB or tik tok or even twitter#so if they try to become algorithmic they will fail to meet the standards of new users AND they will drive away the existing userbase#its a bad look. this is your niche. play to it. thats marketing 101

anyways i think ive posted this before but the ADL and whatever "rational wiki" is (heard something negative abt it once idk what its about but) both have good index's on dogwhistles to look out for, of course for some things its hard to tell but take context clues and if they use a bunch of other dogwhistles into consideration if you suspect someone is alt right, also consider that some people are essentially taught this stuff w/o context of what it really means sometimes and might just use dogwhistles bc they dont know any better (thinking of minors here mostly). either way gauge for yourself if its safe enough to stick around to find out.

YEA!! lobodontin seals (crabeater, leopard, ross and weddel seals) all have the funky looking teeth!
sorry for the ramble im about to embark upon but this is literally half of what the essay is about a;sldkjf

lobodontin means 'lobe-toothed' which is p obvious where the tribe got its name from, and the shape helps to filter out small prey such as Euphausia superba (aka antarctic krill) from the water similar to baleen in mysticeti cetaceans like humpbacks and all of the other baleen whales!

both the mysticeti and lobodontins use suction to draw the krill into their mouths, before filtering out the water from the krill (using speacialised teeth and baleen respectively) and consuming it!
BUT!!!! going on another, slightly longer, tangent here!
unlike crabeaters, weddel and ross seals, leopard seals also eat more substantial things than krill! their diet covers all sorts of stuff like king, adelie, emperor, gentoo, and rockhopper penguins, as well as various cartilaginous and bony fish, squid, seabirds, and other seals!
but they also dont have the teeth to slice these larger prey items? so they basically do the seal equivalent of the death roll aka just grip it with your teeth and thrash it around a bunch in order to rip it into smaller, more manageable pieces
and because of this they can switch between various feeding styles! (younger leopard seals tend to eat more krill/squid/fish/etc. when compared to older seals who can take on larger prey) which may have led to leopard seals becoming one of the top predators in the southern ocean (their only predator being killer whales/orca)

Okay but like I wonder if earth c has a genre of media thats just modern retellings / retellings/ Reimaginings of the events of the game but like the denizens of earth c treat those events like we treat mythology.
Like imagine if you will. Youre like, Dirk or someone right, and you hear about this niche indie folk group called the Machinations or whatever who pretend to be immortal space pirates. theyre supposed to do a lot of tragedies. Not really your scene but whatever.
Then you learn that apparently the bit of the game where you chop your head off and ship it to Jake for a smooch is a bonafide Myth, with all the Trappings of religious ceremony and discourse. Very weird to think about, but again, whatever.
Then you learn that the Machinations have Retold This Story. In song form. And youre like okay wait what bc theres an entire subset of people going wild over it so you listen and the song is a jaunty electroswing deal where a half feral Brittish man pretending to be you sings about needing a lil love to heat up along with the heat of the literal volcano
So you are now realizing theres an entire album of these things reimagining your creation of the entire universe as a 1920s esque bootlegging operation gone horrorterrors with cosmic horror somehow and you gotta wonder. What goes through your head there? Hope no one knows yet? Indifference? i have found an unlikely fix for my shitty laptop, for a niche thing
so, you cant exactly have your laptop on all the time, right? sometimes you gotta shut it down so it runs smoother. but see, when i do that, when i turn it back on, it forgets my data, and i have a mini heart attack for half an hour while i restart 4 times because windows 11 aint shit. so i try to avoid it.
but this time i thought. well. why not just restart first, that should clear space fine?
and well, its running fine, and i saved myself the heart attack
so thats nice

Walkable cities yes. But like for non-urban areas, you also used to be able to hop on your bike and make it across town in 15 minutes.
Now to accommodate cars, everything is being suburbanized. Everything needs a giant parking lot. The streets need to be wide 4 lanes with two extra merging lanes.
All niche shops collapsed into one mega mart. Nomore sunday strolls where you get all your shit from little stores down on main street.
If you don’t have access to a car. You are fucked. All housing 1 to two stories. Gotta get a starting home if you wanna move out of your parents house but don’t want to go live in a city. Or you go live in these ugly duplexed town houses that are surrounded by parking spots thats right off that big ass road. The bus never running.

my thoughts on new weapons (that ive tried in turf war) + some extra thoughts:
painbrush
its nice. it threatens a lot of weapons and gets quick kills if you can get past the lag before the first swing. trying to use the brush roll mechanic to escape tight spots is pretty hard due to that lag, though. maybe i just suck at the game but every time ive tried it fails.
i like curling bomb on it, a bit finicky but it can catch people off guard well. quick movement alternative to the brush roll is also nice, though it doesnt work as well.
it can combo VERY nicely with wavebreaker. i believe it just straight up kills people on the first swipe if they took wavebreaker damage beforehand but im not 100% sure on that
s-blast
its definitely one of if not the best blaster out right now. it gets kills very quick if you can hit the direct, and abusing tech with jump shots allows for your shots to have little to no shot rng i think which is really good. technical stuff aside, its just really good at killing, though its painting isnt amazing. i think thats why they put sprinkler on it
sprinkler isnt good on this weapon. i just use it to paint and build special. if youre in a pinch it can paint your feet and briefly block an attack, but itd be better to try to get a quick direct with the main weapon
not sure how i feel about reefslider being on this weapon at the moment. it isnt bad, but it isnt good, either. couldve been worse
heavy splatling deco
i only used it for like, 3 games and i dont know how to play this thing, but i like it. it reminds me of naut, probably because it has point sensor and functions better at midline lol
kraken is interesting, it can do the job, though im not good at using kraken so i cant give a reliable opinion on it. i struggled moving from back/midline to frontline to activate it, but that could very well just be a skill issue so take that with a grain of salt
light tetra dualies
okay i used this once so my opinion will definitely change in the future, but i prefer the original kit atm. zipcaster is better but i dont know how to use it lol. i miss my autobombs..
it cant take advantage of sprinkler well, i wish it got literally anything else. im a bit of a sprinkler hater
big swig roller express
okay im a bit of a liar, i havent even played this one at all. but a friend said it combos really well with angle shooter for kills and with ink storm for painting
side note: i fought against someone using one on flounder heights splat zones and they were so annoying (i mean this in a positive manner). we traded zones like every 5 seconds and they killed me many times despite me having the favorable matchup (i was using naut) really fun and tense match
im not gonna main any of them BUT these are all good weapons, some better than others. not sure about the other new releases. still gotta wait for a new naut kit, though... hope it gets suction bomb+trizooka/inkjet 🙏 (it wont)

why is this here? it got the biggest buff ive ever seen in salmon run: each shot from a full charged set deals 240 damage. to put that into perspective, it now:
3-shots steel eels, scrappers, and slammin lids
4-shots drizzlers (easier one-cycle from before)
can now one cycle and 5-shot big shots, armored flipper floppers
call me crazy, but this thing went from a charger that was good based on niche uses to genuinely being one of the best chargers in salmon run. used this in the most recent rotation and it perform REALLY well. when i discovered how quickly it can kill flipper floppers my jaw literally dropped mid-match. ive always loved using snipewriter in sr but, damn, its amazing now

if i can choose another one..... i already chose a whole drawing but i will say this year ive been drawing a lot of stuff i cant/wont post on here with less detail/more abstraction that brings out the sections that Do have a little more focus on it and while ive mostly been using this technique to really pathetic romance stuff i do like it for sadder pieces too. cant post most of it cause it involves naked bodies but i also think they crop incredibly well
id never stop drawing details but i think this style that im using for stuff where its moreso me just wanting to get out these vague romantic scenes in my head rather than make a piece of art really works just again too bad i cant post any of this anywhere besides my priv because ive been KILLING IT

what inspires you
hmmmm music. spite motivates and inspires me too. i hate being That Guy and saying others art doesnt inspire me but i think its moreso peoples ideas that inspire me in their art rather than any part of their like visual style if that makes sense. like i dont care if someone draws lines a certain way or colors this way but ill go ballistic bananas over how they often draw mundane scenarios or how they characterize people or how maybe this artist has a quirk where they always draw their favorite characters wearing their outfits. stuff like that from artists inspire me
also not to get sappy but recently ive been really inspired by people with niche/less popular WOLxCanon ships. saw someone shipping their WOL with maxima and ive always liked maxima (love when garleans defect from their shit ass imperialist hell country<-) but never thought about shipping him ever but op looked like they were having so much fun and made such good gposes that it propelled me to wanna get more invested into making hythloazem content because i Want to be dedicated and full of love like them. this probably goes back to this one person's wol x graha fic i read back in ARR that altered me and while wol x graha stuff IS popular op wrote it more like a toxic relationship and through their WOL i found out stuff like people really dedicated to lesser npcs and characters who dont even show up in MSQ and it opened my mind cause all i saw was the same rehashed wol x graha or genwol x graha when theres a treasure trove of people dedicated to a specific little guy who doesnt have much content about them but their wol loves them so much. i think thats my biggest inspo right now
also ferdinand x hubert content ive followed a few artists dedicated to those fuckers and they can draw. also weiss and nier content from gestalt i read a cute fic about them and it made me go I cannot belueve im reading about a guy in love with a book. and then i got up and made like 5 pieces of art because it fueled me with love so i gotta say that inspired me at least 50%

Hmm, i just wasn’t going to class cause i have really serious sleep problems. Like, i can’t sleep at night and i’m already on trazadone which is supposed to help me sleep but doesn’t work right. So james prescribes me ambien too. I tell him my anxiety is going even crazier than usual he prescribes me clonazepam. So now I’m taking ambien, trazadone, and clonazapem for sleep. I’ve always been really overly fatigued during the day but now i just can’t wake up, at all. I am sleeping till five (ball-park) no matter how many alarms i set or when i go to sleep. So i’m sleeping through class and being late for work. So he takes away my clonnie and my PRECIOUS ambien, and now i’m on Laraxpem? lonazepam? And i’m actually not tired all day again! But i am not falling asleep at night 🙃 and also, i am still way too fatigued way too early in the day (i woke up at 1:00 and i was dead tired by 7:00). ANYWAYS. I might do a sleep study soon so. We’ll see how it goes.
Uhm, uh, the princess switch movies, 12 dates of christmas, A christmas kiss, Dash & Lilly (not a movie), A cinderella story (the christmas one), Christmas Cupid…. There’s more uhm but i can’t think of them rn.

Starting YouTube
Hi, My name is Max. I make YouTube videos with a hope that one day I will be successful. So I am here to give some tips for starting out on YouTube even though I am probably not the most qualified person.
YouTube is HARD it takes a lot of dedication time thats hard for me to even do. You'll put a lot of work on a video and it wont do that well. It happens. But you gotta stay consistent and just remember. Do what you want.
Whats most important when starting YouTube you might ask. I would say doing something that you enjoy doing. Me personally I just play games record and edit the footage and Its just a fun thing to do in my free time. It's a very long process and just remember to keep your head up.
What I would start by doing then is brainstorming things you like to do then researching analytics and YouTube to see if there popular. Its good to find a niche. After you find what you like start recording. Your first video is gonna be bad. But I would recommend editing it.
An editing software I recommend would be Premiere Pro for people who have experience editing videos. What I personally started with was Wonder Share Filmora. Its simple and has a free trial. If you're not willing to pay money or don't have a computer. I recommend Cap cut on phones. And PlayStation and Xbox have video editors on their stores. Definetley watch some tutorials and I will have some linked along with everything I mention in this blog.
For a mic I use a TONOR microphone they're a very good cheap company. You can always use your phone mic or a headset mic but if you're looking for a more "professional" quality there is a start. For a camera I have my own cannon camera but you can just use your phone or a cheaper end camera. DO NOT spend a ton of money on equipment right away.
Be yourself. Don't capitalize on being someone you're not. (Unless you're like racist. Please change) Yes in your videos exaggerate but don't make it annoying or just someone you're not. You will dread making videos if you're not being true to yourself.
And last of all have your own brand. Or try to. Make your own logo and thumbnails with things like Photoshop or pixlr is a free web browser alternative. And if you ever get tired of what you're making content on you can always switch it up and do something different. Don't feel trapper especially if you're just starting.
