Do your ocs have like bean paws? I don’t think they have them on their hands, but what about their feet? Sorry if it’s a bit weird!
They do have paw pads on their hands and feet! This is just a quick messy sketch but hopefully it sort of illustrates the look I personally go for with my anthros.

i’m gonna be negative for a second so fair warning
the STEM obsession is literally a plague on the current academic world, especially the recent “women in stem” shit. of course people who are typically discouraged from male-dominated fields should receive encouragement from schools, recruiters, etc, but i am really sick of this being turned into “STEM is the only valuable career path and you are betraying your intelligence as a woman/poc/whatever by doing literally anything else.”
there are SO many non stem jobs that are essential to the proper functioning of society and are definitely NOT worth any less than being a doctor or engineer. i’m tired of there being zero scholarships, internships, encouragement in general for literally any other career path. it’s just disrespectful and honestly dangerous. we can’t let humanities-focused subjects and careers die because STEM is the current hot topic. and i just hate most of all the appropriation of feminism to do it.

House of Finwë family tree, based on the later version from HoME. I chose to stop at Elrond & Elros' generation, but later added Arwen as a side note, which is why her brothers are not included.

There is an astonishingly bad habit in our online demographic for laymen to offer unsolicited, incorrect advice on how to do activism with complete confidence and authority despite it clearly being some made-up shit they thought sounded right.

What would it be like if people in your community looked out for you?
What would it look like if people outside your most-texted friends and closest family knew you and were invested in your wellbeing and were willing to make deliberate effort to contribute to it?
What would a healthy supportive community, full of a wide variety of people who aren't all necessarily friends, look like?
What would make your community more like that?
What structures or opportunities already exist that might enable that? Are they sufficient? Why or why not? If you don't know what kinds of organizations etc exist in your community, how could you find out? If they aren't sufficient, what could you do to contribute or create new opportunities for relating with each other?
What barriers interrupt opportunities for healthy connection and support in your community? What would effectively addressing those barriers look like?
What would be the easiest possible first step that one busy person could take to start to make your community more connected? Can you think of anything that you personally could do?
What kinds of skills or ideas would be necessary that you can't provide? How could you find people with those kinds of skills or ideas who are also interested in community care and who might be willing to work together?
You're probably marginalized by at least one form of oppression. Most people are. You're probably busy and tired. Most people are. What would make it possible for you to contribute anyway? What would make it possible for other busy tired people to contribute?
If you want your community to care for you—if you need that, as I'm convinced all people do—you might have to figure out how to care for your community first. If you wanted that, how would you start?

(After several weeks of pants agony that is still not quite over) I think I've finally cracked the code so
have an illustrated darts/fullness/etc pattern drafting master post!

If you're interested in dart manipulation specifically, do also check out TheClosetHistorian's video on it! She shows how the pattern makes the shape using paper, and shows more places darts can go on a bodice.

actually so fond of how we get the lore that Bella was a seamstress in malevolent. I feel like seamstresses aren't given a lot of credit in the various medias they're mentioned in, especially if by a man, but I really enjoyed that we had the groundwork for that reveal set by giving Arthur an insight into expertise on fabric types/make of clothing and then later explaining that he gets that expertise from Bella. it's a cool way to have her trade be seen as a genuine field of knowledge, of relevant and helpful expertise that is acknowledged as valuable and interesting by our protagonist, even if he never worked in it himself. I really liked that!!

I think the big issue about the skin contests on fr is simply that there will always be an invisible high skill requirement for them. they're official items and are put under the scrutiny of reaching the minimum quality an official site item has. This will also most likely never change, small, inexperienced artists will have the odds stacked against them as long as better artists enter.
The real "fix" will just be to have other types of contest that are more open to varying art skills tbh.

So, about the latest piece, I'm wondering. Does Machete dislike the confession duty solely because of the burden of listening to others' sins and carrying their guilt? For the fact that even if someone confessed to him, for example, that they just murdered someone, he couldn't do anything about it, since their sins are only for God to hear? Or is it because he is sure that one day someone will confess his own, Machete's, sins?

hi this may sound silly but re: your post about loving to study, and mentioning someone treating it like a game, how do you get into that mindset? like as in how do you start to really enjoy it? don't get me wrong i love learning, but the more monotonous parts of studying specifically make it harder to do. any tips?
not silly at all! to me studying is literally a sport just like any other. it takes time and patience and practice to build stamina for it. i set timers and try to cram as much as i possibly can (one of my favorite apps for this is forest), literally all my bedroom walls are tacked top to bottom with sticky notes pertaining to study concepts and questions and reminders, i make myself quizzes, i reward myself w things based on how much i study (if i get x amount done, i will allow myself to do y), i crunch flash cards on the treadmill, i play jazz instrumentals on sunny winter mornings while i study, i dress up and put on my favorite perfume and lip gloss and pretend i'm one of my favorite studious characters going through my notes, sometimes i will pace around w my textbook in hand if i get restless, i switch my environments a lot (you will literally catch me studying at a beach if it means i'm focused there and getting things done), i make sure my workspace is pretty and organized and inviting, i make cute study moodboards and have a lot of motivational quotes on hand, i interleave subjects so that i don't get bored studying something for long blocks of time, i have a list of what my goals are and will sometimes have them on my desk so that whenever i'm demotivated i remind myself why this matters to me to begin w, i follow discipline over motivation (having a study routine is so vital!!!! i live by my calendar), and last but not least i have a huge appreciation for what i'm studying and try not to fall into the trap of "this is boring." instead i actually try to engage critically w the material and give it the love it deserves.
also!!! challenge has always attracted me--if i don't understand a topic well i gravitate towards it more, bc it genuinely bothers me not to be able to do something proficiently (very likely my mom's neurotic influence). that disposition goes hand in hand w the skill set needed for effective studying.
