3. With whom did you first do the sexytimes? Was it good?
Well this one's a little loaded. I was once a hopeless romantic and withheld myself sexually for a long time even when exploring the queer scene. Even before my first kiss was my first blowjob, big 6'6" bear who happened to be from my hometown but was working in my college town at the time. Well fast forward a couple years to the summer of my junior year of college and I was visiting my parents when he hit me up on the grid. Sure enough he had moved back and wanted to have me over. The moon hung heavy overhead, casting a pale glow through the window. The moon was only a day or two away from being full, but you didn’t need to look up in the sky to know that.
Based on the predatory shine in Hunter’s eyes as they roamed your form beneath him, you knew the full moon was close. His usual brown irises now had a golden hue, his pupils slit.
Hunter’s canines were longer and sharper. His fingernails may as well have been claws digging into the soft sides of your body as he growled against your mouth, his tongue delving deeper.
He wasn’t fully transformed, not yet. It usually started slow, a few days before. His urges became more animalistic, his senses somehow becoming even more acute, which drove him to the brink of madness, especially around you.
Under normal circumstances, he could smell you, hear you, sense you more so than any other man.
When he was close to transforming…he was insatiable. Your pheromones intoxicated him, egging on the beast inside that lay in wait.
Your normal passionate love-making turned animalistic fucking, which you took great enjoyment in.
Maybe it was the slight danger, knowing he could rip you open if he wasn’t careful. Possibly it was the thought that this was the real him, the real beast he kept at bay every single day, only able to free himself from those constraints these few nights.
Or maybe it was the full-body, mind-melting, hours-long intense fucking that happened right before he transformed.
Or maybe it was all of it combined.
You could feel his rigid length against your stomach, his growls becoming more feral, resonating from his chest, reverberating against your body.
His fangs caught slightly on your lower lip, drawing a speck of blood, his hands tearing at your clothes.
You moaned at the sensation, his sharp nails dragging down your torso, his lips moving to your neck. His rough pants against your hot skin enticed you, arching yourself more toward him.
“Hunter…” You gasped, entangling your fingers in his hair, tugging him down to your neck further.
You knew he was holding back, not wanting to hurt you, what was left of his conscious mind still hanging on by a thread.
“Please…more…” You pressed your hips up against him, rubbing on his cock. The sound Hunter made was a strangled whine, his canines trailing down your neck. You shivered, mewling as goosebumps erupted on your skin.
“Careful…what you ask for…mesh’la.” His tone had a low, snarling edge to it that sent shockwaves of arousal straight to your core, knowing he could smell it.
Hunter sucked at your neck, tasting your sweet sweat, palming one of your breasts with one hand, the other back to deliciously digging into your side, pinning you down on the bed beneath him.
There was no escape.
His sucks became harder, his tongue swirling over the emerging bruise. He was rutting against you now, desperate whines escaping him as his canines began to dig further into your supple flesh.
You tasted so good…so good…almost good enough to eat.
You gasped his name, pulling on his hair which seemed to have grown longer overnight, as you felt his fangs dig harder into your flesh.
You let out a cry as Hunter’s fangs broke the skin of your neck, sucking hard. Hunter let out a primal groan, his body shivering as he tasted your sugared blood on his tongue. His mind was screaming at him to stop, before he did something he regretted, before he actually hurt you.
Reluctantly, with the ounce of control Hunter still had left, he released your neck, licking at the marks he left, savoring your warm blood.
You threaded your fingers through his hair, his lips back on yours for a brief, sweet kiss. The gentle man that still had a thin string of command left in his mind was back, just for a moment.
He was about to apologize, but as he gazed down at you, the moonlight highlighting your flushed form, heaving chest, and swollen parted lips, he could feel the beast claw its way back. Your arousal filled the room and his nostrils so thickly, Hunter thought he might suffocate.
You liked it. You wanted more.
His pupils slitted, the beast coming back to the forefront of his consciousness.
The rest of your clothing was shed, torn into pieces.
Hunter pressed you down into the mattress face-first, yanking your hips up to meet him as he knelt behind you, almost fully formed claws indenting into your hips.
There was no going back now.

Yes! Which probably had something to do with my decision to read more fiction this year. Georgette Heyer, who can pick you up and drop you straight into Regency England (thank you @marshmallowmcgonagall!). The brilliant Terry Pratchett, which was one of those "where have you been all my life" moments. And of course the master of magic and world-building, Susannah Clarke <3
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
As part of my put-down-the-nonfiction-and-branch-out challenge, I read a contemporary romance for the first time in like...ever, possibly? I mean, I think romance is an underrated genre but I had this idea that it was all some variation of "ambitious career girl who thinks she's ugly but is actually super hot catches the eye of secret billionaire bad boy Rock McAbs, can she heal his inner demons with her magical unicorn vag?" Which maybe I wouldn't mind once in awhile, idk, but I wanted something different, and Written in the Stars by Alexandra Bellefleur was so good. It's f/f, opposites attract, fake dating, and amidst all the delicious tropes were these very real and believable and down-to-earth characters who were so good for each other and such total idiots about it. I loved it.
19. Did you use your library?
SO MUCH. I love libraries and they love me right back <3
22. What's the longest book you read?
That would definitely be Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell, but I'm only about a quarter of the way through so in terms of finished books, I think Fellowship of the Ring, which I re-read over the summer.
