Hello!!! I do not, because the most advanced tool I am capable of using to produce fan content is microsoft powerpoint 😎 But there are several incredible fanvid makers in the fandom, perhaps someone else does?

Yes, it's me again, and another question from Stone Blue au.
How does the, so to speak, "beyond" work, in the au? I mean, from what I understand, Martin begins this adventure to return his brother inside the caverns/caves, then would it work like the nine circles of the hell?, I'm not saying that Chris is in hell, I just heard that if someone manages to pass the nine circles they could reach an alternate version of these, that is, 9 circles that lead to heaven / paradise / place where good souls go.
Something like this would be that "spiritual world" in which Martin enters? Or does it work differently?
OOH!!! YOU WANNA KNOW HOW THE AFTERLIFE WORKS!! Okay okay, I gotcha. 👍
Okay so. Near the start of this whole au, several days after Chris's death and after the rest of the Tortuga team has left to go deal with the legal side of it all, Martin finds a book inside of The Tortuga that Jimmy just so happens to keep his recipe notecards in. It's about a bunch of different small legends and myths, and one part just so happens to mention a period of time when people had found a way to access the void right outside of the gates to the afterlife and went through trials in the hopes of bringing their loved ones back from the dead. Some people were successful in this venture and were able to return to their homes with their previously dead loved ones.
This sparks an idea in Martin's head and he decides to give it a shot. He runs around The Tortuga grabbing all the materials the books says he needs to open the gateway to the void, sticks it all in a pile in the middle of the floor, and sets it on fire. Immediately the doorway opens to a void of pure black and all the stuff Martin had grabbed completely disappears. Martin jumps through the now-open gateway once he gets his stuff together and lands on the platform right in front of the giant stone gate leading to the afterlife.
This is the place where he encounters the three gatekeeper beings and where he spends almost the entirety of the rest of the au, the void around him morphing and changing sometimes according to what's needed for the different trials the three judges all put him through.
The afterlife itself, where we see Chris hanging out whenever we occasionally cut to him, changes shape depending on the individual. Every soul is given a specific afterlife tailored to them and their interests in life where they will spend the rest of their eternity until the end of time. Once a person dies, they wake up in their afterlife and begin to get accustomed to it. People rarely ever interact with other humans after death unless they were particularly close with the person in life.
Chris's particular afterlife allows him to live in a vast and beautiful jungle with huge numbers of different creatures completely undisturbed. He can swing around in the trees to his heart's content and spend the rest of his days living and interacting with as many different creatures as he'd like, whether it'd even make any sense in the living world or not.
He's happy here! As is the intention of all these different afterlives. Although he does desperately miss his bro and all of his friends, he does realize that he's dead and thinks that this a pretty nice place to live in now that his life is supposedly over.
Once the trials are eventually complete and Martin comes out of them successful, the three beings who judged him open a doorway to him that'll lead him down a passageway to go retrieve his brother. He rushes through it as fast as he possibly can, pretty much painting the passageway blue as he rushes through, every step he takes leaving a blue mark in the void-like floor that begins to spread and color the rest of the passageway.
Once he finally reaches the end, he sees his brother falling down incredibly fast through the void ahead of him, seemingly unconscious. He jumps forward as best he can and grabs onto his brother's wrist as tight as possible, hoping to god that he's actually got him. Chris awakens and looks up at him, the two barely locking eyes for a second before they're whisked away in a flash of white light and wake back up in The Tortuga HQ, Zach sitting right next to them.
Anddddd, yeah! That's the basics of the afterlife in this au!! :D
Hopefully that explains everything for you!! Also sorry that this is so long, I hope it isn't too much.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
@love-leah said it was a tag for anyone who wanted to join, and I did!
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 46! 34 for of which are for Justified-- that's 74%!
2. What's your total ao3 word count? 364,850... oh my god... girl... that's too many... I blame Justified completely... it's the brain worms........
3. What fandoms do you write for? Justified! I mean. Yeah. I also wrote for Succession and The Last of Us. I want to write more for The Last of Us, to be honest. I should do that, after I write my fic for @skelingtonsderek and my bingo board and and that other bingo board and..........
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1) Falling in Love with Every You I Meet (The Last of Us), 2) Sweet as Honey, Sweet as Pie (The Last of Us), 3) Before Rome Burns (Succession), 4) Hotboxing Sex Smells (Succession), and 5) Like a Sleepy Blue Ocean (The Last of Us). I'm not surprised three of the five are The Last of Us, while the other 2 are Succession! My top five fics by Kudos for only Justified are 1) The Opposite of, 2) swiped the fire in you for myself, 3) The Raylan to English Dictionary: Translation Notes Included, 4) Two Drakes in a Pond, and 5) The Body of the Beast
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes! Every time, as long as they aren't rude, in which case I delete them. I just love reading what people say on my fic and answering and talking about the thing I love so much! I love this thing! I get to talk *more* about thing!? For free!?
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't write a lot of angst! If anything, I write a lot more bittersweet. I think if I had to answer, I would say Like an Incendiary Device. While the ending is more bittersweet for Zach, who has his whole life ahead of him, who has his mom and best friend, who gets to move on, Raylan's ending is still so fucking devastating. Boyd is still gone. He has irrevocably ruined something for his daughter. He is still not processing his grief and still not confronting his life. I'm so fucking sad for him, even after writing him hurting the people he loves most in this one.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I think I'd have to say The Opposite of. This is a Raylan and Boyd who have had 20+ years of working their horseshit out and having each other and making each other better and worse in turn in the oddest of ways. Nothing is ever really "resolved" since it's so difficult to really get over deeply ingrained insecurities, but it's a Raylan and Boyd who have each other to see it through them. I think it's happy to have someone who makes you happy, even when you're making each other the most annoyed you have ever been and will ever be in your life.
8. Do you get hate on fics? Ohhhh my god, no, but I did have one really weird commenter who said awful shit about the pairing I wrote for and then went a condescending, several paragraph long rant about how i personally am the reason their rare pair naruto fics don't get any comments and i just. blocked them.
9. Do you write smut? Yee :P Also, thank you bingo boards for my life, I write so much better now, fr fr.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Yessssss :D I've written a few! Justifed x Over the Garden Wall, Justifed x Howl's Moving Castle, Justified x Cabin in the Woods. I'll give special mention to my Justified x Stardew Valley fic, It's Strange, but the Taste Reminds You of Vanilla Ice Cream
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? No, thank GOD. The person I'd become....
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but anyone is welcome to, as long as they credit me!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, but @gaylanrivens invited me as a co-author for their series watch a few movies, take a few notes after allowing me to play in their sandbox :D
14. What's your all-time favorite ship? All time? All time, all time? How am I to choose??? I have RaylanBoyd, which I'm most obsessed with at the moment, but It's impossible to pick anything for all time.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Probably.... teeth fic? Man, I've written and rewritten and edited teeth fic over and over again. It started as its own fic, and then I tried reworking it for masqball, and then a bingo... It's got a lot of fun conceptual elements (*chanting* teeth teeth teeth teeth teeth!), but I started it before I really decided how I see Raylan, and now the characterization for him just doesn't make the fic seem feasible anymore
16. What are your writing strengths? I'm... not sure? I mean, I know I have some, but I feel on the spot. Um. I think, writing captivating and dark and intriguing romance? Can I say that? Does that make sense? Maybe??? Imagery????????
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I've answered this one before, in other asks!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I can't speak much more than English, so I'm not writing in multiple languages. I might have it translated to English and then in italics to signify other languages. When I write for anime/manga or Chinese/Korean novels/comics, I try to match the, how do you put it, sentence structure? It was once said that a good translation doesn't sound like it was always in English, but it gives you a better idea of how another language flows. I try to match that.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Naruto when I was like. Ten. I shipped Naruto with Hinata, because I hadn't realized she was a lesbian yet.
20. Favorite fic you've written? Noooo, how could you ask me that!? Um, Cherry Compote! What's not to like about cannibalism and Stockholm syndrome!?
I'm tagging a bunch of people, but no one feel pressured, and if I missed you, I am adding you mentally: @itookyoudown, @skelingtonsderek, @dyinglikeastar, @gaylanrivens, @cheerupghost, @wildglitterwolf, @sublightsleeper, @empathieves

29 and 30 for the music asks, please!! <3
thank u! :D<3
✭ 29: A song that you remember from your childhood
i remember being in middle school and i bought this cd because my friend was sooo convinced robert pattinson was the lead singer (HAHAH) anyways i bought it so we could listen to it but i ended up listening to it every night before i went to bed because i enjoyed it sm
✭ 30: A song that reminds you of yourself
i think a lot of beirut's music resonates with me, i feel like he has such a strong sense of wanderlust (well i read that he dropped out of high school, saved up money and dipped to go travel the world!) which i relate to a bunch. i also love zach condon's use of instruments. this song in particular is why i taught myself how to play the ukulele because he did it in such a unique way! but for this specific song, there's this excerpt:
Tumblr media
and i've always had this fascination of knowing what goes on wherever i go, like my mind wanders a lot and i start thinking of perspectives, stories, etc because i just find people to be very interesting rather than just myself. idk i love being human

What a Jurassic Mess
One Chapter Two
Gray ran up the steps to the Innovation Center pausing to look back at his siblings every so often.
“Come on!” He called out excitedly bouncing in place on the steps when everyone but Zach sped up a bit.
“Relax.” Zach called out as he started walking up the stairs, Gray glared slightly at him before continuing up the stairs.
“Come on!” He called out again, causing Zach to roll his eyes.
“Dude, chill.”
Nora and Gray pushed the doors open looking around excitedly as their siblings followed behind them. Zara barely made it through the doors as she paid too much attention to her phone. The announcer chimed overhead as the siblings looked at the holographic platform displaying a life-size projection of an Apatosaurus roaring seemingly at them.
“Welcome to the Innovation Center, where technology meets Prehistory. Join us on an exciting journey 65 million years into the past.” Gray rushes over the Mr. DNA Show, and after looking over the screen he immediately begins pushing buttons, reciting the answers.
“Cytosine, Guanine, adenine, and thymine. The same four things in everything that ever lived.” A 3-D Mr. DNA appeared on screen with a thumbs up before the computer called out.
“Test your knowledge!” Zach walked up beside him looking around grumpily as their other siblings had dispersed to their own areas.
“Hey, don’t wander off, all right? Mom’s not paying me for babysitting.”
“Mom never pays you for babysitting.” Gray said unimpressed and Zach is cut off from responding by Claire calling out to Gray.
“Gray, is that you?” She asked, smiling as she held her phone to her ear walking down the stairs. Gray and Nora hurried over grinning as they called out to her.
“Aunt Claire!” Claire rushed finishing the call as she made it to the bottom of the stairs.
“Okay, yeah. No, I’m going to have to go. My nephews and nieces are here.” She hung right as the two hugged her causing her to smile in surprise and awkwardly hug them back. “Hi!” She laughs patting their backs looking down at them. “Oh, my gosh you guys are so sweet!” She turns smiling at Alice, Simon, and Zach as they walk closer. “Whoa! Zach Simon! Last I saw you two, you were like..” She held her hand a little higher then Gray and Nora’s height causing a grin to spread on Alice’s face and Simon ruffled his hair awkwardly. “That must’ve been, what? Three, four years ago?” Zach frowned, rolling his eyes slightly.
“Ya, seven. Seven years.” He said unimpressed, causing Simon to elbow him before moving forward.
“But close, you know! It’s good to see you again, Aunt Claire, you look beautiful.” Claire smiled softly at Simon.
“Thank you Simon, you’ve both grown up handsomely. I see you already got your wrist bands! This is for food!” She said, pulling a card out and handing it to Alice with a smile. “Zara is going to be taking care of you until I’m off work tonight, okay?” Zara glanced up uninterested before returning to her phone, and Gray looked up at her upset while Nora looked at Alice in understanding.
“You’re not coming with us?” Gray asked, causing Claire to look down at him awkwardly.
“Oh, um, I really wish that I could, but tomorrow I can take you into the control room, show you behind the scenes and all of that. That’s…that's gonna be cool, right?” She asks, smiling at them before her phone rings, not noticing the disappointed and unimpressed looks she was getting. “Okay, so I will see you tonight at, uh, uh, six.” Zara didn’t look up from her phone as she responded to Claire.
“No, no, don't forget you have the…” She stopped when Claire cut her off, nodding.
“Right, of course. I will see you tonight at eight. What time do you go to sleep? Or, or, do you go to sleep at different times?” They don’t respond as her phone continues to ring and she checks it. “Okay, so, um, have fun.” Claire turns to look at Zara. “And take very good care of them.” She smiled at them before walking off through the holographic dinosaur answering the phone. “Yeah, No, I’m here.” Simon smiles tightly at Zach and Alice before pulling Gray and Nora close.
“Well let’s set off. I have it on good authority that the T-Rex will be feeding soon!” Zach snorted, tilting his head to the side.
“Who’s authority?” Simon gave him a deadpan look before rolling his eyes playful and holding up a pamphlet.
“Well as I can tell, I’m the only one who grabbed the paper that tells you everything that's happening.” He said smugly, earning a laugh from Alice who took the pamphlet walking towards the doors.
“Nice one Bub! Alright let’s set out!”
Gray was bouncing up and down trying to see over all the others at the petting zoo. Zach stood by him looking around while Alice helped Simon lift Nora up enough to see the babies.
“Zach, lift me up. I can’t see!” Gray called out tugging on his brother's hoodie sleeve. Zach made a face pulling away from him.
“I’m not Dad, and you’re not five.” Gray huffed running to a different spot to get a better look, Zach following.
“I can still ride the Triceratops, or we can go on the spinning dinosaur eggs!” Gray said, looking down when Zach tugged on his shirt.
“Nope and cover up your dork pouch.” Simon gave him a look as he lowered Nora down with Alice.
“Zach.” He said warningly but was cut off when Zach grinned looking behind him at Zara, who was arguing on the phone.
“Scatter.”
“What?” Gray asked, confused only to be pushed slightly as Zach started to run in the opposite direction of their babysitter.
“Go. Run. Go!” He urged grabbing Simon’s hand as he passed him, the others soon following, Nora giggling loudly. Simon groaned as he ran with them, not looking back.
“Zach! You know I suck at running!” Simon lamented before tugging him away from the T-Rex feeding area. “No! She overheard us talking about the T-Rex, that's the first place she’ll go!” He looked around before pulling them toward the Mosasaurus’s enclosure. “Quick, let's get in line!” Zach nodded and the two started running again, their other siblings following behind them. Simon signed leaning against Zach tiredly after they got in line. “Make me run again on this vacation and I might kill you Z.” Zach snorted, rolling his eyes as he looked over at a few girls.
“No you won’t.” He said smirking slightly looking at Simon who was acting overdramatically tired. “Stop being dramatic, Si.” Simon was going to retort but Zach’s phone went off catching all of their attention.
“Zach we said no phones.” Nora said, jabbing him in the side. Zach swatted at her, hitting her arm slightly.
“It's mom, so calm down Miss phone police.” He grumbled before answering the phone. “Hey, mom.”
“Hi mom!” Simon called out leaning against Zach more so that he could hear their mom.
“Hi, I miss you boys. Are you having fun?” Emily asked, smiling as she heard two snorts.
“Yeah, I guess. Aunt Claire gave us passes, so we don’t have to wait in line.” Alice cursed lowly earning a look from Gray. “And we are just now remembering that after standing in line for twenty minutes.” That earned a laugh from Emily until she realized that meant Claire wasn’t there.
“Wait a second, she’s not with you all?” Simon and Zach shared a look as they followed after their siblings to the very obvious ‘Skip the line’ entrance. “Boys I will talk to you later, I love you both tell Alice, Nora and Gray I love them too.” She said before the line went dead, Simon leaned away looking at the ground awkwardly.
“Uh-oh, we got Claire in trouble.” Simon said and Zach shrugged as he pulled him forward.
“Worry about that later, come on, let's watch the show.”
“The Mosasaurus was thought to have hunted near the surface of the water where it could prey on anything it could sink its teeth into.”  The announcer said as she clicked a button and a great white shark was moved above the water via a mechanical hook. Gray started bouncing excitedly, shaking both Zach and Simon. Simon laughed while Zach just continued to stare at the photo of his girlfriend on his phone.
“Isn’t it illegal to kill and well, feed great white sharks?” Nora asked, leaning closer to Alice.
“Well in the states and possibly a few other countries, but we’re in Costa Rica so laws are different.”
“Okay folks, let’s see if she’s still hungry after eating already today. She’s a little shy so be nice and give her a hand when she comes out!”
Gray shook them even harder as the Mosasaurus leapt out of the water and its jaws snapped closed around the great white dragging it under the water, sending a pool of water onto the audience. Zach laughed loudly, while Simon groaned, pulling his glasses off having forgotten they were in the splash zone.
“That was so cool!” Gray cheered loudly, earning a laugh from his siblings. As the bleachers started to move downwards, showing them the Mosasaurus underwater.
“Okay, hold on tight! We’re going to give an even closer look at our Mosasaurus!” Gray turned to Zach grin never leaving.
“It has eight-eight teeth!” Zach chuckled looking at him.
“Hey, you wanna see something else cool?”
“Yes!” Nora and Gray yelled at the same time earning a laugh from all the others.
“Hey, I’m gonna skip the Gyrosphere ride. It's a two person only ride and I don’t wanna get stuck with some rando, so you four go and have fun.” Alice said with agrin as they neared the monorail that would take them. Simon looked at her worried and she simply rolled her eyes. “Don’t worry Bub, enjoy the ride and get up close and personal with some dinos! I am going to get up close and personal with all the food this card can buy me!” Zach snorted, nodding to her before steering Nora and Gray onto the monorail, Simon followed right after. Nora and Gray immediately took a seat together leaving Simon and Zach to sit together. After a while it took off, shuttling them to the ride.
Nora and Gray talked quietly in front of them about the dinosaurs they’d seen so far. Simon kept glancing at Zach out of the corner of his eye having noticed that he closed in on himself again. Simon sighed, catching Zach’s attention.
“What did I do?” He asked, trying to keep the hurt out of his voice.
“What?” Simon huffed, rolling his eyes and turning to him.
“What did I do for you to hate me!?” Zach turned to him looking shocked and slightly angry.
“I don’t hate you!” Simon let out a short bitter laugh as he glared at the ground. “What makes you think I hate you!?” Zach question not looking away from his twi,
“What didn’t, Zach?! You don’t spend time with me anymore. Half the time I try to talk to you, you either roll your eyes and walk away or you don’t even acknowledge me! You have a girlfriend that hates my guts and I don’t even know why she does! So you tell me Zach, out of all those actions, what makes you think I wouldn’t get that feeling?” Zach glared, crossing his arms and rolling his eyes at the list.
“You have no room to talk! We’re twins Simon and what was our one big rule? No secrets! And I’ve been waiting for a very long time for you to tell me this secret you’ve been keeping but its been years, and recently it's gotten even worse!” Simon freezes thinking of the only secret he hasn’t told Zach, the secret that he found easier to tell Abby who he just met this year.
“Its, that's…Zach.” Simon stuttered at a loss for words terrified to say the words he wanted to tell his brother.
“Just forget it Simon.” Zach snapped, turning and looking out the window.
Simon sighed playing with his hoodie string as he looked down at his converse.
Gray and Nora stood in between the two while they waited in line. Nora argues with Simon about her and Gray going together while Gray mutters facts to Zach.
“Did you know the soft tissue is preserved because the iron in the dinosaur’s blood generates free radicals, and those are highly reactive. So, the proteins and the cell membranes get all mixed up, and and uh…act as a natural preservative. DNA can survive for a millennia that way.” Zach didn’t even hear a word Gray said as he smiles and stares at a group of girls. “See, now, even if the amber mines dry up, they’ll still have bones to-”
“Shut up?” Zach muttered not looking away from them, Gray turned looking at the girls before turning back to him.
“What do you think’s gonna happen from you just staring at them?” He asked, ignoring that the girls burst into giggles together and that he embarrassed his brother. Zach looked at him unimpressed letting out a sigh as they got into the Gyrosphere and drove away.
“Thanks, Man.” Gray smirked slightly, turning to look at the next Gyroshpere.
“You’re welcome.”
“Yes!” Nora cheered, pulling Gray into a hug. “Si agreed that we can ride together as long as we stay on the phone with him and Z! Let's go!” Her and Gray hurried onto the Gyrosphere buckling up and Nora gave Simon and Zach a thumbs up before driving off.
“Let's go Z.” Simon said softly before stepping into their Gyrosphere.

Your Stone Blue au looks quite good, its plot is quite original, so I would like to ask a question, does Martin manage to bring Chris from the afterlife? It sounds like something simple (?, but seen in some movies, series, even myths that trying to bring someone back from the dead can end up being more harmful than beneficial in a magical/spiritual sense, whether you end up bringing another entity back or the soul you seek to revive does so differently, in a sense negative.
Also, it would be interesting to see how Martin's idea of bringing his brother back can change, perhaps wondering if it's the best option, if it's really worth it, wouldn't it be better to let Chris go?
Thank you so much!! :D I'm so glad you're interested in my au!!
Yes, Martin does manage to get Chris back in the end. The au mainly focuses on Martin dealing with his grief over Chris's death and the overwhelming guilt that came with his brother dying in front of his very face and him not being able to do anything about it. The way Chris goes out is pretty gruesome (at least to my standards) with him first getting impaled by a falling stalactite and then getting crushed by a huge number of rocks, and with Martin being the one to suggest that they stay in the caves for just a little longer to explore some more, he puts the blame for Chris's death entirely on his own shoulders.
He manages to clarify beforehand with the beings that'll be judging him while he goes through these trials that if he succeeds they'll be bringing Chris back to the way he was before he passed and not as like a zombie or something. And when they do bring him back, he is his normal self, the beings in charge of the whole thing aren't there to act as trickster entities in any way.
Martin's desire to bring his brother back never wavers or changes, (at least not in this au,) but in the end, with some help from Zach of all people, he does begin to accept the fact that Chris's death wasn't really his fault. It doesn't change the fact that he desperately wants his brother back though, so he still goes through with finishing the trials in the hopes that he'll succeed. And when he does, he rushes through the passageways to go and retrieve his brother, and the two of them are sent back to the land of the living!! :D

hi wow im a bit shy to send this to your awesomeness...no wonder youre intimidating puffin studios - jokes aside, i just wanted to say that tssw is one of my fav IFs of all time! ive proudly finished books 1 & 2 in two days (then devoured the book 3 demo at 2 am under my covers). then eagerly read btm (im super duper excited for it!! creepy ghostie soulmates and escapism from the oppressive mundanity of life + toxic households is my jam! im so intrigued by zach and cy!) and now im thinking about subscribing to your ko-fi and patreon because your writing is so amazing!! i love how you excel at different genres from humor, action, angst, hurt/comfort and i love how you flesh out your characters !! i went in tssw for sexc vampire papa and ended up super soft for the MD poly <3 (seriously i love when mc snuggles with big grumpy yet soft morkitty and the sweet and saucy daelynncat... i couldve said pussy but thats a different thing ANYWAY my point is i love everyone! straasa is such a sweet dreamboat and eledwen is so strong and beautiful... how can i betray them for manerkols shadow strap now!?) the different variations of these plot and romances are SO good too. i work in game dev too so hats off to you for all these variations holy crap, youre my idol! my gf and i are also replaying like crazy because your works are just. so. damn good!! may i ask what your writing/plotting process goes like? :D
Omg, you've just made my entire week 😭❤️ Your message is so lovely, and it made me feel so appreciated <3
Thank you for taking the time to tell me all the things you liked, it honestly had me tearing up to read that all my effort is seen and recognized.
As for my plotting and writing process, I usually start with a general plot and then go from there.
Dreams are a huge inspiration, and so is brainstorming with friends and consuming different kinds of media!
I usually start out with scenes that I want to write, and sometimes the finer plot moves from there. Things change a lot!
Also, it's super important to take breaks and focus on something different when I get stuck somewhere LMAO~
Best of luck with your own projects! And thank you again for the wonderful message ❤️

Double D Low, V12
Oak Flat, AZ
Holy hell is all I can say about this boulder. I spent 8 sessions on it and sent on roughly my 216th attempt 🥵
I think I’ll make another post to explain everything that went into this boulder (because it was a lot of effort 😂), but there’s something much more important for me to say right now 😄
I couldn’t have gotten the send without the crew behind it.
Queen Creek Bouldering was out there with me every session and in all types of weather conditions 🔥 🥶 Capturing the content, lugging pads, and encouraging the psych.
Cory came up from Tucson to spot and dog wrangle 🐶
Zach climbed nearly every boulder in the surrounding area while I sat under Double D Low and threw myself at it constantly each weekend 😂 And he’s the person who unlocked new beta by noticing a crucial hand position change.
And of course my awesome Mom trudged it out there with me & Queen Creek Bouldering on 3 separate occasions to help carry the extra pads 💪🏼
So the biggest thank you to everyone who came out and helped with the process. Boulders get sent with hard work…but boulders also get sent because of the crew behind you ⚡️

is the plot of Our Wild World AU still the same? or has something changed after all this time? (plot post was made in april 3 2022)
I am happy to report that it has not only been changed, but much more fleshed out! Many elements from the original plot remain, but new and exciting story beats have been added! But I'll only be listing the really big and important things here.
The time in which the crew have been gone for is now 200 years instead of 100. This servers a purpose I swear.
Awakened Creatures are normal animals that have been blessed by the gods and essentially are just your typical fairy tale animal. Think Puss in Boots, Frog and Toad, and other little beasts that act like people! Before the crew's disappearance, about 1 in every 100 animals is Awakened.
This AU is no longer going to be as D&D based as it used to be unfortunately. It just made things needlessly complicated and I think led to me losing my motivation in the first place. It made the AU feel more tedious than fun.
The villains have remained mostly unchanged, however Zach's gotten a new power that I'm not going to spoil just yet ;)
Also I forgot to mention this in a previous ask but Koki also has dominion over medicine and health.
There's more smaller changes that will become more apparent the more and more I write about it, but in the meantime, I'd like to thank all of you for renewing my love for this AU! Thank you all so much!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 14/10/2023 (Drake's 'For All the Dogs', Nines' 'Crop Circle 3', Lovejoy)
Content warning: mentions of sex, violence, anxiety and SO. MUCH. DRAKE.
Kenya Grace’s first chart hit is also her first chart-topper as “Strangers” hits #1! It’s a pretty big week, with or without Drake, and this is REVIEWING THE CHARTS!
Tumblr media
Rundown
As always, we start the episode off with our notable dropouts, which as I always explain are always the songs exiting the UK Top 75 - which is always what I cover - after spending five weeks in the region or peaking in the top 40. “Always” by Bon Jovi is not included, but we do see the loss of some 2023 hits like “TRIPLE THREAT” by Headie One, K-Trap and Clavish, “Slime You Out” by Drake featuring SZA (thanks to the three-song rule - though it’s a toss-up whether this one will actually come back), “Tension” by Kylie Minogue, “Feel It” by Jazzy, “TELEKINESIS” by Travis Scott featuring SZA and Future, “Speed Drive” by Charli XCX and “Little Things” by Jorja Smith, as well as some old songs that won’t go away temporarily going away, those being “Dog Days are Over” by Florence + the Machine and “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi.
What’s always infinitely more interesting are the gains, of which there aren’t all too many this week. We do see the biweekly return of a Fleetwood Mac song with “Dreams” at #73, and then for our notable gains, we see boosts for “Escapism.” by RAYE featuring 070 Shake getting what must be a third or fourth wind at #54, “Back on 74” by Jungle at #30, “I Remember Everything” by Zach Bryan featuring Kacey Musgraves at #29, “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan at #28 and “ecstacy” by SUICIDAL-IDOL at #26. I’m not really complaining either, most of these are great songs. Finally, in the top 10, Sonny Fodera and Clementine Douglas grab their first ever top 10 hit with “Asking” at #10, also granting MK’s his second as a credited artist - it did surprise me how he’d only grabbed one before.
This week’s top five on the UK Singles Chart consists of two Drake songs at the tail: “IDGAF” featuring Yeat at #5 - yes, seriously, Yeat is in the top five - and “First Person Shooter” featuring J. Cole at #4. Otherwise, we have “greedy” by Tate McRae at #3, “Prada” by casso, RAYE and D-Block Europe at #2 and of course, “Strangers” at #1. Now to run through the new songs, of course finishing with Drake but starting far from it.
NEW ARRIVALS
#75 - “Lil Boo Thang” - Paul Russell
Produced by Sean Cook
I am getting older. Not too quickly, and I’m still young but I am aging gradually like everyone does. I also feel like I’m getting a tad more sociable, a bit more willing to put myself out there. This song samples “Best of My Love” by the Emotions, a classic disco track that is used extensively and liberally in this new song. It peaked at #4 in 1977, and I’m not THAT old, not that being old enough to remember the hits of 1977 would make my criticism less valid or anything. Hell, this song does have some new things about it - it’s not two minutes thanks to TikTok attention spans, and he makes references to the NBA 2K games - though even those are 24 years old now. Yet despite that… I think I want to hug this guy at a wedding we’re mutual invitees of, ask him about how his life has been since I last saw him a couple years ago, and make 15-year-old in-jokes we’ve had since we went to school. Everyone has an inner middle-aged person in them, I think this song takes it out of me. It’s been bubbling up for a while and it is pure joy. The guy can barely sing but it doesn’t matter because of the fast, rap-like melodies and the delightful jazzy soundbed, as well as that undeniable groove that may be very plastic, but still gets me excited. If I heard this at an outdoor party full of those 35 and over (and sadly, their kids), I’d have to go to the back and to the front. The bridge with him interpolating the Emotions sample and the computer-esque vocoder just to tick of all the boxes is adorable too. This song is cute, it’s a jam, you young whipper-snappers just wouldn’t get it.
#60 - “TLC” - Digga D
Produced by P YouGotThat
Now we have a streak of four songs somewhere in the middle of the chart which I honestly don’t think I’ll have a lot to say about, not because they’re bad but because these are chart regular appearances just doing business as usual, and isn’t the album entries from Nines and Drake we have coming up, or a newcomer like Paul Russell, or a general oddity like a heavy rock song charting, which we will see later. It’s just business as usual, and this is especially true for Digga D. He is still on his whole late 90s-early 2000s US rap throwback style, this time directly sampling “Bumpy’s Lament” by Soul Mann & the Brothers, probably better known as the loop Dr. Dre used in “Xplosive” featuring Hittman, Six-Two, Nate Dogg and Kurupt, which appears on the iconic 2002. Whilst never released as a single, it’s a pretty iconic beat, and is still certified silver in the UK. Is it a good song? Well, not really in my opinion, at least outside of Nate Dogg, who improves every track he’s on tenfold, so maybe Digga D’s more subtle use of the sample under extra layers of horns and a particularly gross-sounding drill beat can do something more interesting with it? Yeah, not really, the hi-hats sound like fruits sticking to each other in the fridge, and Digga D is usually at least a bit more energetic than this. God, he’s actually one of the more lively UK drillers, but he says in the chorus how tired he is of fame, and it shows. This is a pretty depressing song if you consider that… well, it would be if he did anything interesting outside of that chorus which adds less potency to his flexing, sex bars and mockery of dead teenagers than I think he wants it to. This is just sad in a pathetic kind of way. At least the sample’s cool.
#59 - “Hey DJ” - Joel Corry
Produced by Joel Corry, Neave Applebaum and Punctual
Hey, Joel, I think you missed a feature credit somewhere. You may have dropped it on your way to Spotify, I believe you mean to credit Roc Star on the vocals? No? Okay, well, she’s about as faceless as she is nameless in her performance anyway, in a pretty typical Euro-trance throwback that at least has the cheesy synth builds and a pulsing Cascada-esque feel to it all, even if the washes of white noise and ambiance get a bit much since they’re not very aptly blended into the song, it just feels like the synth pads are full of flat air. In fact, flat would be a pretty apt way of describing this entire song. It’s a shame because I have a fondness for this kind of sound, yet this feels a bit too tight to work in that context, and way too unabashedly cheesy to work in any other.
#41 - “Me & U” - Tems
Produced by Guilty Beatz
Those of you who read my 2006 episode will know I am a big fan of the Cassie song of the same name, which of course isn’t sampled here, it’s just a coincidence. This is a much more chill Afrobeats single from Tems, and one thing that stands out to me at first is the opening line to the first verse: “For me to come out, it must mean I am at the door”. The continued sense of agency surrounding her relationship in the first verse and intro seems to erode in the second verse, as she makes herself a blank canvas for her lover. The sliding guitars and fluttering percussion, feeling almost manic in rhythm, really accentuates that something is deteriorating… but not necessarily in a bad way. Tems’ agency and self-consciousness dissolves not as a result of manipulation but simple comfort over hours and hours of being together with them, inferred by the constant chanting backing vocals intertwined into the beat and the really perhaps-too-repetitious lyrics. He still needs to prove himself though - she needs faith and he needs to show her some substance before she can fully be part of his “matter”. It’s a hypnotisingly cute mutual love song and of course, whilst I’d prefer a more climactic bridge or a chorus that consists of more than four words repeated ad nauseam, I completely get why the song is that way, and it kind of works for me. Not fully, but it’s close - this is good.
#39 - “You & Me” - JENNIE
Produced by Teddy Park
Oh, how I wish these two songs weren’t separated by “Calm Down” on the chart. Regardless, JENNIE may not seem like a chart regular but she is from the group BLACKPINK, of which we’ve heard solo efforts from before, with LISA, ROSÉ and JISOO all charting solo songs, and I actually liked all of them, some more than others, so I was excited to hear JENNIE’s addition to the BLACKPINK solo canon. Well, again, it’s not close to another song of this title I much prefer - this time by Disclosure - but it’s still okay. Perhaps stuck in 2019 given the vocaloid sample that provides much of the backing melody alongside the charmingly dated synths, snap percussion and JENNIE doing a bit of a Selena Gomez impression, but that’s not my least favourite era of pop, and the shimmering slide into the pre-chorus is a smooth, inspired transition that… oh, my God, they did it again. This is just like when I heard ROSÉ’s “On the Ground” - it starts off as an above-serviceable pop song before dropping into chaotic, almost industrial synths that have no reason to be there but elevate the song to really interesting territory, especially given the screech of those synths, factorial percussion and glass smashing that transforms this chorus from sounding completely sincere to either being a falsehood - kind of implied by the lyrics about not wanting to fall in love - or just grimy and sexy, and given the rap bridge about not blocking his “shots” and promising that she’ll be his last love that just looks better on her, yeah, I’m guessing it’s the second, and the bass-heavy devolution into a swinging screech not dissimilar to a bad squeak really sells it. This is a pretty damn great song, definitely not what I was expecting and whilst it won’t last, I think at least I’ll keep listening to this one.
#37 - “Toxic” - Nines featuring Bad Boy Chiller Crew
Produced by ProdByDizzy, I Don’t Rap I Dress and Babycashy1
Those have got to be some of the worst producer names I’ve seen in recent times. Anyway, UK rapper Nines released his second album of the year with Crop Circle 3 - it reached #2 on the albums chart and we have two consecutive songs from it year. This one… well, it has the Bad Boy Chiller Crew on it for some reason. This does mean that they bring their style of blissful bassline production, with that wispy pitch-shifted vocal and twinkling keys shifting over the 2-step production. It’s a jumpy, bouncing beat with some cute sound effects and popping intricacies I can appreciate. The BBCC guys are just as they always are, but they fit the beat and ride it well, with their typical laddish delivery. Nines, however, still has a single flow and takes himself too seriously, so he is completely out of place despite carrying the hook! Every time the song gains momentum leading into the chorus, you get this sloppy rendition from Nines instead of any of the BBCC fun translating from the verses. That’s not to mention his droning, off-beat verse either. “I went jail and got bigger, like when Mario jumps on the flower”. Really? You make words sound good for a living, how is that what you come up with?
#35 - “I Do” - Nines featuring Tunde and Mugzz
Produced by Show N Prove, Jacob Manson and RJ Cherry
The amount of features on this album should be telling of what purpose Nines serves in UK rap. This is also much more typical Nines fare, with the whispery ad-libs, quick trap skitter, bad vocal mixing and dull deliveries from everyone involved, especially Mugzz who has nowhere near enough character to handle a basic chorus like that. To be fair to the producers, the wiry G-funk synths are pretty unique, and to be fair to Tunde, his flow is a bit better and more energetic than the others, but I’m picking at straws. There are no surprises to be heard here.
#27 - “Normal People Things” - Lovejoy
Produced by Psylla
Indie rock band Lovejoy are back with their newest single, and it’s probably their most concise, heavy claustrophobic jam yet. The song starts with the words “panic attack” and continues to sound just like you’d expect a British panic attack to sound like, with that tedious riff rinsing its anticipation over frustrated drumming, as Mr. Wilbur Soot delivers one of his least kept-together performances so far, with anxious lyrics, odd sampling and a lower-register moan that digs him well below the ground. The chorus propells the song further into anxiety, as despite the initially cathartic riff, Soot ends up gravelly whining the “hold your breath” mantra before a rapid screeching acceleration that brings us to the… kind of cringeworthy bridge. There’s one thing I don’t like about this song and it is the distracting nature of the lyrics, which is to be expected with Lovejoy but still doesn’t work nearly as well as it did in their EP from earlier this year, not because of a lack of subtlety but because there’s less to the song’s progression here. It’s difficult to swallow when it’s further contained in a two-minute single, but it’s still not far enough to make this song not click. It’s still good, still give it a chance, but I feel they have better stuff coming soon.
#6 - “Virginia Beach” - Drake
Produced by 40 and Harley Arsenault
Drake’s latest #1 album For All the Dogs is a bloated feature chock full of corny, misogynistic lyrics, depressively murky production and song ideas so frail they have to be confined to obsessive beat switches. It’s also my favourite Drake album. Outside of being comically pathetic and largely an embrace of that gross side of Drake he’s always at least tried to put up a guise for in the past, it’s also a damn good pop-rap album with unexpected turns, infectious hooks, smooth feature performances and hard beats as well as some genuinely touching lyrical moments, at least when he wants to bring them in. I won’t talk about the album at length here because this isn’t an album review show and we don’t know what else may be coming to chart in the coming weeks from it. So I’ll keep it pretty brief for these tracks, especially since they’re all good but not particular favourites off of the record. This is the opening track, generating much of its buzz from the fizzy Frank Ocean sample off of the filtered guitars and strings that coalesce into one melodious murk quickly snapped into place by a weirdly-mixed trap skitter and Drake’s loose, desperate complaining about this girl probably half his age who he, for whatever reason, is not with anymore. He’s off the lean and refusing to treat her better, despite the fact that she already has a boyfriend at the point she’s seeing Drake. He’s a complete douchebag in full nasal whining mode until the second verse which actually does a pretty cool switch-up  by filtering the Frank sample further and introducing a looming synth as Drake continues to rap some of his corniest relationship bars yet. It’s “on sight like WWW, on site like dot com”? Sure, Aubrey.
#5 - “IDGAF” - Drake featuring Yeat
Produced by BNYX and Sebastian Shah
This is barely a Drake song. Most accurately, this is a Yeat song with a lengthy intro using warping progressive electronics wired behind a sample of trinkling pianos, beautiful sax and mystifying vocals provided by jazz band Azimuth, that has little purpose other than to be subverted as soon as Yeat comes in talking about having sex over a completely alien rage beat. Yeat’s vocals are modified beyond coherency at some points, he’s showered in ad-libs, and most importantly, he’s not Drake, who delivers a completely serviceable, one-take verse that quickly gets overshadowed by Yeat… kind of going off, in a uniquely Young Thug way, where you’re not impressed by any lyrics or flows but you are impressed by just the continued violent refusal to stop rapping. Nothing is said of any interest - of course not - but it goes hard enough, it has that extraterrestrial tone to it, and the completely incoherency of Yeat is actually quite a fascinating refresher from the track that precedes it, that being…
#4 - “First Person Shooter” - Drake featuring J. Cole
Produced by Coleman, Vinylz, Tay Keith, Boi-1da, FNZ and OZ
The two heavy-weights team up for the first time in over 10 years and of course, Cole runs away with the fantastic feature verse you always expect, rarely actually get but is never a surprise to hear. I’m far from a J. Cole fan but the man can rap, and rap he will, especially when he has something to prove, rapping about how he, Drake and Kendrick are the undisputed GOATs of their respective generation. Cole doesn’t even wait for the beat to come in, delivering some deadpan wordplay over the soul sample from Joe Washington as soon as the song starts. Drake then gives a respectful warm-up, essentially acting as Cole’s hypeman, though with an odd focus on child-related wordplay, and then over the explosive trap beat, Cole just chugs on in what feels both endless and effortless, making good use of silent moments to switch between flows, delivering punchlines honestly not that far away from Drake’s and with the increased energy the beat deserves. Of course, we then got what is now a typical Drake beat switch into an even harder Memphis rattle, as if Drake knew he got bodied and added an extra verse from himself so he’s not completely embarrassed. He holds his own pretty well though, with one of his more technically proficient and aggressive verses on the whole album, as well as stepping up his punchlines and flexes a bit thanks to Cole’s presence. It’s a rapid fire rappity-rap track so I have no expectations of it actually staying, but it is still a killer track.
Conclusion
With all that said, JENNIE gets Best of the Week for “You & Me”. Yeah, it’s not what I expected but it’s a fantastic track that really digs at what I like about K-pop whilst also just being a brilliantly constructed love song. And despite me loving that Drake album, not even “First Person Shooter” can get the Honourable Mention. Nope, that’s going to Paul Russell for “Lil Boo Thang”. Seriously. As for the worst, I mean this was a pretty good week - not even the Nines songs were that bad - so Digga D gets it handedly for “TLC” but Joel Corry grabs the Dishonourable Mention for “Hey DJ” mostly on just being lazy. Next time, we’ll see if any of this actually sticks the landing for a second. I have doubts about nearly all of it doing so but for now, thank you for reading, rest in peace to Rudolph Isley, and I’ll see you next week!
