i use this blog for fandom purposes only, but i can’t not post about this today.
you probably haven’t heard, but one year ago (28/2/2023), in Tempi (Greece), happened the worst train collision in the country’s history. one of the two trains was full of university students returning to their homes to celebrate a national holiday with their families.
57 of these people never got to their destination. 57 innocent people lost their lives because two trains were in the same train track, and nobody noticed. in greece, in 2023.
some of the people who were presumed dead were never even found. some people were identified through body parts. and guess what? no one has paid yet. not even the minister of transport, who signed a resignation after the crash, but still got added into the parliament during the may 2023 elections.
the same person who, one month before the crash, was biting people’s heads off because they ‘dared to question the safety of the train tracks’ after some workers filed a complaint about the unsafe conditions of the train controls.
everyone who travelled by train in greece before the accident is alive BY LUCK. because the fucking comms were not working. it wasn’t just a temporary issue, they had not been working for YEARS. and let me remind you, the government did nothing to prevent this from happening . how are we, greek citizens, supposed to feel safe in this country when we’re alive by luck??
and no one is talking about this. please raise awareness. the people who lost their lives need JUSTICE.
this is murder and not an ‘accident’
rest in peace to the 57 souls who went so unfairly. we will never forget.

HELP! EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! PLEASE JUST 5 MINUTES ARE ENOUGH FOR THE BETTER OF MY COUNTRY! SIGN THIS PETITION AND SHARE IT WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN!
Tumblr media
Like today, a year ago, in Tempi, nearby where I live, two trains crashed. They were moving in the same road, opposite to one another for 12 minutes and nobody knew about it, until the two trains crashed...
57 people died, most of them being students, around 18-25 years old.
They said it was the station master's fault, he didn't realise that he put the trains in the same rail. But they are hiding the truth...
Our trains were bought from Switzerland, and those trains were used by the Swiss for almost 2 months and they were about to be destroyed, because they were considered to be a danger for everyone.
Our trains, for almost 24 years are moving around the country manually. No train has a GPS system. The systems were bought by the Greek government in 1999 and till today, 2024 they have not been installed....
The railways do not have signal lights, radar, monitoring center and station masters....
We Greeks move like this, for about 20 years....
Until 28 of February 2023, that this terrible train crash happened....
Today, a year later, our politicians lie to us, make empty promises and reassure us that everything is under control. The truth is that nothing is under control. A year later they have done nothing...
The railways are still malfunctioning, no GPS, no monitoring centers and no lights....
And the only one who payed for it was the station master, who did a fatal mistake, but he was just the front person that behind him hid the politicians, that do not take any responsibilities...
The next day after the train crash, the minister of the Ministry of Transportations quit his place! Can you believe it?
The European Union has condemned Greece for ignoring the laws and pointed out the greed of our Prime Minister, which hasn't stated anything of that matter for over a year....
Greeks are devastated! No one hears us, the government is killing us!
Greeks want our politicians to take responsibility. It is in our hands to do it, but we also need help.
Please, spend 5 minutes signing this petition.
Signing this states that you want a constitutional change, which will lift over the political immunity that protect the politicians!
Your help is so much needed. The families of those people suffer and want justice for their children!
PLEASE! WE NEED YOUR HELP, WE CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS!
Sign this petition please! You can chose to ignore the tiping fees. It is only fair that they pay for what they did!
Pray for those 57 lost souls!

Ive been debating on wether i should post about this or not all day and haven't really talked about it with my friends on here either. I occupied myself by working and writing. But i just wanna say one thing; today there was a tragedy in Greece that most of you might not even hear about. Two trains crashed into each other, which resulted in a lot od dead people, most of them university students, and even more injured.
I was supposed to be on that train. Plans changed and instead of going and coming back from that location, i spent the celebrations of Clean Monday with my friends elsewhere. It's scary. Even the smallest thought that i would have been there, is scary as fuck. Ive been listening to the stories of the survivors and people posting about it, it's starting to settle on me how many lives were lost in the blink of an eye because our government is shit. Because in 2023, there is not a working application in Greece that can allow the drivers and mangers of the trains to see if two trains are heading towards each other. It's SICK. and people call it an unfortunate event. It's NOT an unfortunate event. Unfortunate event means something you can't control, something that happens by fortune, by luck, randomly. This was inevitable, this was a matter of time, this was a crime. and there's no one brave enough in this shit show of a country to take the blame.
I know people that lost friends, parents, daughters, kids. It makes me sick to my stomach. It also reminds me of hoe important it is to hug the ones you love, to say you love them, to text your parents or your friends that you're home safe when they ask you. To not take anything or anyone for granted. Call your mothers or dads or whatever when they tell you to, text them that you're ok, contact them and make sure they are safe too. It takes 5 seconds and Makes them feel a 100 times safer. Make the memories you always dreamed off, take chances and love unconditionally. Human life is so fragile, you don't understand just how much until things like this happen. It's a shame, a true fucking shame.
Rest in peace to all the souls that were taken away so unfairly.

Revisiting again the Eld forest Arc, do you think that the rest of the group, Marten, Dedan and Hespe started a bet on how long would it take for Kvothe and Tempi to fuck?
Like they see that they start to get along, they hug each other, Tempi laughs at Kvothe's jokes (even if no one finds it funny) they are clearly flirting, and suddenly they do all their activities together (tracking, going to Croson, bath time), they spend hours together on their own far from the camp and when they return they are sweaty and Kvothe even starts to pick on Tempi manners. They probably thought they were a couple already now.
Then Kvothe leaves with Tempi to go on a trip to the mountains instead of joining them back to Severen, did they think they were celebrating their honeymoon or smth?

"Call me when you arrive, okay?"
Today is the anniversary of the Tempi train incident in Greece. But it feels wrong to call it an incident. It was murder. The gross negligence of the state is responsible for the loss of 57 people. Most of them university students.
Keep the victims, and their families who lost them far too early, in your thoughts today. Don't forget them and their unjust deaths.

To live in Greece means to be surprised when politicians resign after a tragedy (more than 50 dead) their corrupted system caused.
Some Greeks I was around at the time were so shocked Karamanlis resigned that they congratulated him through the screen..... Congratulate a man because he did the bare minimum and took the responsibility that was his in the first place. A responsibility about something VERY basic that should have existed in our train system for DECADES. (Others are also responsible for it but the current one was currently in a position to prevent this)
Bottom line, the system is so corrupted and so deep in the influence of criminal rings that the higher-ups getting inconvenienced when people die is a first for us. A thing to be commended.
The tragedy could have been a human error solely - the accused also claimed he tried to move the rail but it didn't budge - but a human shouldn't be given that much responsibility to begin with! In 2023, instead of warning traffic lights and electronic systems, we have mostly humans communicating through wireless comms about the position of the trains throughout the country! They might as well text each other on Viber and be like "the train reached Kalamata, we are fine"
That's obviously not the whole picture but I am too pissed off rn to give a damn
--- Don't start with "it's basically the same here" if you are from an Anglophone or NW European country because 99% of the times I read such comments, turns out the speaker has no measure of comparison. You already have the most basic decorum, safety measures, and policies in place we can only dream of and beg for decades to have here. While no country is perfect or without problems, we've been asking for years to reach your level because down here at our level it's even shittier.
