ofmd s2e3 rewatch where i pause to jot down my thoughts and other random shit

squeezing this one in riiiiight before the next two eps drop lol. anyway these posts are about me processing these episodes and if you want to read them then that's cool too. but fair warning this is gonna be a fucking mess.

s2e1, s2e2, s2e3, s2e4, s2e5, s2e6, s2e7, s2e8

show opens on zheng leading a raid and INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH. this might be the first time we've seen a raid where like. the background music is kinda moody. and what's odd is that it has like the same level of comedically over-the-top violence and characters just having a casual conversation as like, the e5 cold open. but there's sad piano and strings doing tremolo in the background. i have no idea what this means.

god. zheng is so fucking hot.

i love olu's "no, no, sorry, bruv." and the FACE HE MAKES AFTER!!! so good

zheng saying "everyone's cracking down on the little guy" makes me wonder if the show is gonna do anything abt how the end of the golden age of piracy was like. a year off. which i only know from reading a few fics where the authors incorporated that into the plot. and there was the one trailer where we see zheng in jackie's bar while stede's giving everyone a speech so yknow what that might be where all this is going. big pirate battle at the end of the season, right?

another thing ive been wondering abt tho is just how much is this show gonna completely fuck with history. because like. is zheng yi sao gonna conquer the fucking caribbean. are we just going completely off the rails re: historical accuracy and inventing entire major historical events?? like crocs and pinocchio and pirates from different historical periods all existing at the same time and in the same place is one thing but if the characters like. overthrow england. then ofmd just straight-up exists in an alternate timeline at that point.

stede "the gentleman pirate kills with kindness" bonnet being so impressed with zheng is so cute to me tho

fhsjkgdhfushl oh my god when zheng snaps her fingers and stede hurries to refill drinks the other captain guy grins and flashes finger guns at stede and this is SO fucking funny to me

zheng being like "noooo it's stupid teehee" tucking her hair behind her ears ALSO very funny to me

whose job was it to make the letter N out of caviar for the title card in this episode bc it looks fantastic. got little serifs and everything

stede taking his towel duties VERY seriously and just. dropping them on zheng's desk for no reason. even olu is like "stede what the fuck are you doing"

obsessed with the running gag of stede being like "i always say that!" and other characters being like "no you fucking dont"

stede having zero impulse control and seeing the abacus and just being like "hey what the hell is this thing" and shaking it around. me too, king.

i wont lie tho part of me wonders if stede like. going overboard with towel duty and messing shit up is on purpose. like is he playing dumb so zheng lets her guard down just in case he needs her to think he's completely helpless?? bc at the end of the episode he does get one over on her and i assume it's partly bc she underestimated him. or am i just reading too much into it lol.

but idk it's weird that olu's like "ok stede zheng is busy" and stede's just like "im gonna shake this thing now teehee"

WAIT ALSO backtracking a bit. why were stede and olu shadowing zheng at the beginning of the episode. i mean olu i get, it's bc she has a crush on him (who can blame her) but what's the in-universe justification for zheng being like "yeah alright white boy u can come too"

I KNEW THE GNOSSIENNE NO. 5 WAS GONNA KILL ME WHEN IT SHOWED UP IN S2 BUT THIS WAS TOO FUCKING MUCH. THE WAY IT TRAILS OFF AND WE JUST HEAR THE WIND ECHOING. FUCKINGGGGG CLAWING AT MY EYES

also have we ever actually seen the outside of the door to stede's cabin like this before??? we saw those dutch guys get chased down this hallway but idk about. the door.

the crew is too busy feasting on raw bird like they're extras in a zombie film to hear stede calling for ed. love that.

the two people that the camera focuses on individually are jim and izzy. makes sense bc these are the characters who i think are gonna have the most important shit going on re: the fact that they all tried to kill ed.

stede's painfully awkward smile after "um... hi." i mean honestly tho what the fuck else do you say to walking in on this

oh shit jim was totally about to tell stede what happened tho. and then archie interrupted with "oh shit, you're stede?????"

this must be so fucking funny from archie's perspective tho. must've heard so much abt this guy and now she finally gets to meet the main character of the story she stumbled into about a third of the way through. and he's kinda just some blond guy.

stede sounds so defensive too tho when archie's like "i thought you'd be taller, charismatic, muscly" bc god that's exactly what he thinks he should be. i mean ok stede is charismatic in a very unique way but his whole e1 fantasy of having a beard and being all macho and badass was just putting all his insecurities on blast. and now archie is like "this is the guy blackbeard was so fucked up over?? really????"

shoutout to archie saying "got tired" when theyre all saying ed retired

also why was wee john in this shot. like not even just in the shot he's just sitting RIGHT behind stede listening to the whole thing. he doesn't have a single line.

stede rolling his eyes and ignoring izzy is so good. yes king dont take the bait

oh ok wee john was there so that we can see frenchie go over to him and give him a fist bump in the background while stede walks away to stare off into the distance

also bro auntie is dead-on about the guilt. i dont blame the crew at all for what they did but this + the whole bird-eating sequence bro. they all liked ed. they cared abt him. other than archie, they all knew him as a pretty cool person. like BRO im gonna have to make another post abt this but the trauma of like, someone you liked becoming so suicidal that he puts you in increasingly miserable situations hoping you'll snap and kill him and he keeps escalating it until you have no choice but to kill him for your own safety. but you know he was a funny and chill person before this. and you know he only did this bc he wanted to die. dude this shit is fucking heavy.

bro what IS going on in towels. i love how stede just passes around towels for smelling. is this something people have done literally ever or is this just so we can have chloroform towels at the end of the episode

sorry i know in the last post i was sort of squinting at the bit where olu forgot how to pronounce china but the was he mispronounces eucalyptus is just so satisfying to hear i cant even be mad abt it

naw im sorry this is cute. this is a cute tealoranges scene. yes it's jim telling olu abt how they hooked up with someone else but bro i LOVE relationships with this kind of comfortable discussion abt sex and abt relationships in general. i mean there's a lot more for them to talk about still but in a worse show this wouldve been a whole screaming match. instead we got jim saying "you're kinda the best friend i tell everything to" and joking about boobs and UGH. it's so cute!!!!

also when did jim see archie's boobs tho. like ok realistically they've seen each other in varying stages of undress just bc it's not that big of a ship and there's only so much privacy. but the funnier answer is that after ed kicked them out of the secret room and a few minutes later a gunshot went off (who did the rest of the crew think pulled the trigger, i wonder) and they think izzy's dead probably. and then jim and archie decided this was a good time to hook up.

wait i forgot abt the nebulous amount of time between the mutiny and stede walking in on them all eating a dead bird. who fucking knows how much time that was tho. but they could've hooked up then i guess

the song gets to play out more in this scene and ohhhh baby i missed this piano piece. also stede looks more annoyed than upset. he's just casually yoinking things out of the wall. and then he sees the ones on the ceiling and is like "really, ed?"

i think i said this in the tags of a gifset but izzy says "don't cry, bonnet" when stede's back is to him and i just think it's funny bc stede literally wasnt crying. he just looked kinda pissed off. izzy continues to not understand ed or stede even a little bit.

also i love how the music changes by just playing a minor chord and then there's like a spooky echo and then. no more background music.

i just realized izzy's crutch is literally just a mop he's holding upside down. this is funny to me for some reason

why does izzy even lie about this. why does he say "no i could never do that" when literally he did. he looked right at ed's face as jim hit it with a fucking cannonball. like. what fucking purpose does lying about this even serve. in what way does that benefit izzy. idgi

also ive heard that apparently ppl think he did this to spare stede or something but 1. why would he not want to specifically torture stede as much as possible 2. this is literally not sparing stede bc stede would spend the rest of his life scouring the entire caribbean hoping to find the island where they dropped ed.

RANDOM fucking idea tho but what if they did maroon him but it was on the island from 1x02. that wouldve been great for ed probably. get therapy from the old guy. have some coconut rum drink. chill out. oh well instead they shoved ed into a secret closet and left him there to die from a traumatic head injury.

hornigold calling ed "bro" was such a dead giveaway for me that this was a dream sequence or whatever. like from trailers and stuff i had already figured that this guy was hornigold and that he was probably a ghost or something but i think i mightve been questioning it a little bit at this point. but yeah anyway ed says "bro" and while obviously we dont know exactly what hornigold was like, he didnt sound like the kind of guy to say "bro"

i do love how hornigold's like "you worried you're insane?" and ed's just like "yeah a little bit!"

ed is so fucking stressed abt being in the gravy basket. poor man is nervously playing with the big stick and trying so hard not to lose his cool.

ok the two things i have to say about this. first: the fucking flashback montage in this sequence makes me stop breathing like every single fucking time. secondly: when theyre face-to-face in ed's mermaid fantasy there's a split second where ed sort of jolts forward a tiny tiny tiny half of an inch. and i have no idea if it's intentional. but it makes me think of how in the "you wear fine things well" scene ed TOTALLY STEPS IN THINKING STEDE'S ABOUT TO KISS HIM.

Part 1 Part 2 (1 + 2 were a slooow start on this one I know ...)

Madge woke to the voices of her neighbors carrying through the apartment wall. Her head hurt. She needed to pee and she was dehydrated. She cracked her eyes open and immediately regretted it. The sunlight through the window seemed obscenely bright. Too much margarita.

She should’ve taken a water bottle last night. Instead she had limited herself to what fit in the tiny cute purse, which was by far the best accessory for the club-worthy dress. The bar had been so crowded she hadn’t gotten enough water. She scrunched her eyes closed and pulled the blanket over her head.

She’d had some water though. She remembered Thom’s friend Gale handing her a glass. Unless he’d roofied it! she thought. Suddenly she was wide awake. But no, that didn’t make sense. He was gay. And she was alone, in her own bed, wearing normal pajamas and not feeling at all abused - except for the hangover. Grumpy, she peered out from the blanket enough to grab her phone from next to the bed. Luckily she’d remembered to plug it in.

Shit. It was after noon already. She blearily stared at her phone until she could make sense of the icons on the screen.

Her feeds showed a bunch of pictures from the night before, thanks mostly to Thom. She had a couple new friend requests and a few requests accepted. In the accepted category were Rue Jones, Beetee Mortara, and Venia Curlew. In the friend request category were Cashmere Coulson and Gale Hawthorne. Madge didn’t really remember much about Cashmere, but she was “friends” with Thom, Venia, and Beetee. The only mutual “friend” with Gale was Thom. No surprise there. But she wasn’t sure that Thom befriending his exes transferred to her.

She looked at his public pics. She remembered him being around a lot the night before. She thought back and recalled lots of chatting and laughing with Thom’s friends, including Gale, but was that really reason enough to friend him? She decided to wait until later to deal with the friend requests. She scrolled mindlessly through her news feed for a bit before she switched apps to check her texts.

There were two new notifications: one from Thom and one from an unknown number. Weird. She opened Thom’s first. Just the usual back and forth about making it home safely and some vague messages from him about the night before. At the moment, she really didn’t care. Then she opened the other. 212-867-5309 2:28am thanks for a fun nite did you get home OK? 212-867-5309 2:42am Thom says you texted him so I guess you’re off the hook. Goodnight princess 212-867-5309 11:02am um this is Gale btw Madge stared. Princess? Oh shit. What had she told him? Or had Thom? Almost automatically Madge went about changing the name of the contact to his name instead of the number. But she was distracted thinking about him calling her princess. Thom knew about her 3 misguided years of princess pageant competitions and the state “Little Miss Princess” crown she’d won when she was nine, before the cancer changed things. Thom had heard far more than anyone should have to after her mom’s relapse. But that was years ago, and even though she knew it amused him, she didn’t think he’d have brought it up. Plus, she’d been surrounded by beautiful people in the entertainment industry last night. Pageant stories would have gone over much better than cancer lab stories.

Madge closed her eyes and it came back to her. Someone - it was Cashmere, Madge thought - had been talking about stage moms. And Madge had a few stories about stage moms. So she had divulged that little history. It was not exactly her deepest darkest secret but it wasn’t exactly the first impression she wanted to make on these new people either. But now she remembered. Gale had been there, he’d called her princess then too. An image of him from the night before crystallized in her mind, his face bright with laughter, magnetic eyes that took her breath away. Shit, she blushed just to remember.

Maybe if she was lucky, they would all have collective amnesia about last night. Or she’d just never talk to him again. Or anyone else who’d been in earshot. Shit.

She put down the phone and decided to finally roll her butt out of bed. After getting cleaned up and eating some cereal, she shlepped a bag of laundry down to the laundry room only to find that of course, all the machines were taken. There was a guy in one of the chairs reading a book, and a basket of filthy looking laundry next to him, so Madge just gave up and went back upstairs. She lazed around for the afternoon and managed to claim an empty laundry machine after dinner. She settled down with her current book - Lab Girl, a book her dad had sent with her. He’d probably picked it based on the title. She’d just rotated the first load and started the second when her phone pinged. Thom 9:40pm What’s happening Madge 9:41pm Laundry Thom 9:42pm Laundromat? Madge 9:42pm In bldg basement Thom 9:44pm Nice! That’s better at least Madge 9:45pm Last night was fun. I’m glad you talked me into it. How r u? Thom 9:45pm <link> It linked to a YouTube clip of Kevin Sorbo, in Hercules, screaming “disappointed!” Madge laughed at the virally-misinterpreted homage to Kevin Kline. If you chose to believe Sorbo’s version of events, which Madge did.

Madge 9:46pm Teehee Feeling misunderstood? Thom 9:48 pm my lot in life. But woman, the thing about today is that we both went home alone last night and now it’s a miserable day and I had to wake up to the vocal stylings of Annie and Finn going at it next door. Again. And I wouldn’t have even gotten out of bed but I had a stupid matinee which I hate.

Madge 9:48pm Sorry :-/ So how’d it go? Did you get any sleep last night? Thom 9:49pm I got some and I’m home now so crashing soon. Monday came and Madge went back to her weekday routine. She had finished all the paperwork and trainings at the research center, and she was finally being assigned an experiment. She wouldn’t lead it herself, as new as she was, but she was excited to finally get back in a lab, working with a couple of phd researchers who had developed the protocols. She still had at least a week or two of practicing the new methods before she began actual experiments, but it still felt like progress. She also heard from her friend Delly who wanted to know all about her exciting life in NYC - an idea the pictures from Saturday only seemed to confirm. She grilled Madge on all the people she’d met and things she’d done and claimed she had to live vicariously through Madge because grad school was so hard. Madge encouraged Delly to come for a weekend sometime.

Thursday night she joined some women from the lab at a happy hour. They went to a basement bar close to the research center, and drank cocktails that the others called “cheap” which apparently they applied to anything under ten dollars. On the upside, the coworkers were pretty friendly and she heard about lots of different subcultures in the city. One told her about contra dancing. Another was into board games … she’d even been to a board game convention the year before. One was a runner, was training for a marathon, and loved trivia nights. It was fun, learning a bit about them. By the time she said goodbye, it was almost 8 o’clock. She looked at her phone to confirm how to get to the subway, and saw a new text notification. Once Madge was on her train heading home, she opened up her phone again and replied.

Sum: A highschool AU where the whole cast are all in band and orchestra and have their own secrets. The music unites them all in the end where they all become friends that help each other through the trials of growing up. Carmilla and Laura teach each other that love can help anyone survive even through the worst. A lot of angst and fluff. Not smuf. But there is a sequel with smuf. This series has made me cry and laugh spontaneously. It’s beautifully written and I would reread it again.

Find Me Through The Radio is the sequel to this, and it’s a lot of angst and it’s oh so wonderful. Warning: Both of these with kill you with fluff. Make sure to have kleenexs on hand.

Well That Was Unexpected by HollisteinFF

Sum: I really like this author, they have more works that I will mention because they are so good. This story is alot of smuff with some fluff and a plot that creeps up on you and turns into a mystery. It all starts out when Carmilla gets dragged into a strip club with her brother and she spots a small innocent looking honey haired woman that, ironically, goes by the name Honey, who she finds out is actually Laura. They start going on different escapades as they make their way through each other lists of fantasies, until Carmilla finds out that Laura may not be who either of them thought she was. There is also a sequel to this that I have yet to read, Unexpected Consequences by BloodandPaper, HollisteinFF

Good Enough by HollisteinFF

Sum: (This is a fanfic version of the movie Cruel Intentions. It’s beautifully done.) Like I said before, this author is amazing! This about Laura being a music prodigy and she gets accepted into a prestigious school, but before she goes her father decides that she needs to go out and do something besides just music. So he gets her to go to cheerleading camp where she ends up meeting a certain broody girl that has the whole camp of girls in the palm of her hands. (Literally. There’s lots of smuff) This certain brood also happens to be Laura’s new roommate. Which for the entirely too tightly wound blonde, may be the worst or best possible thing to happen to her. In the end they realize they may not be so different after all and that they both have issues. They show each other that love is possible and they can get through anything. Btw you’re in for a huge shocker in the end, and you’ll never expect it. So please grab some kleenexs.

Finding Real Love by KarnsteinRosenberg

Sum: Carmilla is royalty that forced into a life of obligations when at a very young age of 12 she was snatched away from the life she had grown to love. She learns that she must become true to her new self and accept it as the new heir to the throne.

Laura is a princess, who cares for her sickly father who just wants his little girl to be safe and in desperate times decides she needs to marry her off. The two girls lifes collide and they realize that they will need to work together in order to survive what has become their duties and responsibility for their kingdom. A really great story!! The only thing that I could complain is that english isn’t the author’s first language, but they do a good job otherwise. I read so much of this story in just one sitting. There’s 69(teehee) chapters full of angst, smuff, and fluff.

Where Your Treasure Is, There Will Be Your Heart There Also by churchofyourcurves

Sum: If you didn’t realize it from the title and the hint at Lily’s grave, this is a Harry Potter AU in which Laura and Carmilla and the rest of the cast are all wizards and witches that have grown into powers that require them to go to Hogwarts to learn about their abilities. Along the way Laura’s journalism desires get them all digging into things they probably shouldn’t until they all slowly unravel the secrets the school has to offer. This is a really nice twist for those that fell in love with the Harry Potter series and also enjoy reading about the Carmilla characters. Enjoy! Also when you’ve made it through (you’ll need lots of kleenexs with this one as well) all of the teenage angst, and fluff, (no smuff) then please buckleup creampuffs for the sequeal that it also has to provide. Somewhere I Have Never Travelled, Gladly Beyond.

Under Cover of Darkness by Heligena

Sum: Laura tries to sneak into the dorm that she shares with her broody vampire roommate. She comes home with injuries that she’s sporting from a long night and she doesn’t want to have to explain any of it to Carmilla. Her plan backfires when her roommate hears her shuffling around, and she ends up having to explain everything that eventually leads up to them unraveling the mysteries of the happenings that are taking place at the Silas University. All while they try and pretend they aren’t using it as an excuse to spend more time with each other.

This fanfiction is incredibly well written and has alot of mystery written into it that is nice to see along with hollistein. I feel like it really stays true to the actual show and what it had brought forth to all of us, but this is much darker and will not be easy on you. It has everything you could want in the story. Expect more good things from this author. This was beautiful.

Sum: A zookeeper AU in which Carmilla is a Big Cat keeper and Laura works with the cute and fuzzy animals. They end up having to work together despite their differences in their job titles, and begin to see that you shouldn’t judge someone by their covers. This is a cute story that shows you the life of a zookeeper, but also shows you that love can be simple. It also can sneak up on you unexpectedly. Being a zookeeper can tug your heart in many different ways, so please creampuffs be prepared. But don’t worry, Hollstein will get us through it in the end. This has angst, fluff and smuff.

Fool’s Gold by whatsthedamage

Sum: I don’t think there is a creampuff left that hasn’t read this Highschool AU, but it’s always a honorary mention in my books. But this is about Carmilla and Laura going through highschool trying to figure out what they want, and come on people we all know that they are going to end up together, so why is it always so difficult for them to figure that out. Watch as these teenagers do everything in their power to avoid what everyone wants! Erjgh! Also this has to be one of my favorites for the simple implications of The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink. Yes, thank you so much for that!!! :D

Absolution by lordvoldyfarts

Sum: This has alot of smuff and makes me so happy they way they supplied it in context to plot and angst. Carmilla has to witness her roommate with her girlfriend, Danny Lawrence, everyday and all she can think about it how she so doesn’t care. Nope. It doesn’t bother her at all. She just can’t stop thinking about the little ball of sunshine, but it still doesn’t mean anything. That is until she realizes it means everything. Carmilla decides that she’s going to wait for the right moment and swoop in to get the girl of her dreams.

The Kind of People You Meet On Airplanes by alterocentrist

Sum: More of a short story, but not really. Carmilla and Laura end up sitting next to each other on an airplane. They are complete strangers that are in for a huge surprise. Inspired by David Levithan’s “The Number of People You Meet on Airplanes”. But please don’t go and read that short story before you read this fanfic. This fanfic is more of a short novella, but please read it so your little gay heart’s can get the well deserved break from all of the angst I had thus supplied. This one is an imagining of what might happen when you sit next to a stranger on a airplane. You never know who you might meet. Expect the unexpected.

Also there is a sequel to this one as well! "Now We’re There, and We’ve Only Just Begun" Oh how I love sequels! It’s also so hard to give up on such a good story. Isn’t that why we are all here reading fanfics? ;)

Pandemic by Puntrest

Sum: An apocalyptic story where a virus breaks out and the whole cast have to stay in a facility, Silas, to survive the plague of the outbreak. They are the survivors and their sole purpose is to help find the cure for the others that exist outside of the walls. Laura and Carmilla have become roommates that know nothing about the other and Carmilla is determined to keep it that way even as determined as her roommate can be about trying to find out what really is going on within the walls of the Silas facility.

This is a really cute story that feels like I am also reading a zombie outbreak twist, but it’s not at all. It just has alot of mystery and plot twists that I solely enjoy. The love story between the two is really a nice break for all of the angst that builds up as well.

My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose by peerieweirdo

Sum: Carmilla and Laura both own stores across from one of each other. One day Carmilla hears the store next to her making an obnoxious amount of noise while in preparation for them opening up, which prevents her from sleeping at night. Running out of patience, she decides to take matters into her own hands and find out what all the ruckus is. Little did she know that such a small woman could make so much noise and turn her world upside down.

One is a floral shop and the other is a tattoo parlor. You’ll never guess who owns which.

Emancipation by ceceash

Sum: In a world where slavery is lawful, Carmilla’s mother owns her own business that puts them in the upper class in which requires them to have slaves of their own to keep their image. On Carmilla’s 17th birthday, she is finally old enough to own one of her own. She goes to the auction house with her mother, who has allowed her to pick out one of her own. Little did she know she would find one that she would like so much. In order to save the little honey haired girl from the greedy hands of the other auctioneers, she convinces her Mom to buy Laura to be Carmilla’s very own slave.

As much as this story seems like it’s pretty fucked, it really isn’t. It’s a good story, that has a lot of beautiful moments. It has it’s unnerving moments with the whole slavery ordeal, but it’s oh so oh so good.

On Your Ground by kaitlynsgonnakait (tumblr prompt which is really cool)

Sum: Did you know that being intimate with your patient as a doctor is considered unlawful and a violation of hospital policies of the United States and is a justification for imprisonment? So did I, I mean Grey’s Anatomy, obvi, but it still makes for a damn good story. Carmilla and Laura knew that too, but the was the last thing on Carmilla’s mind when she got injured. It was ok, she had a really hot doctor to take care of her though.

Ohhhh soooo much angst. Ughh so good. And smuff with fluff of course. Pfft duh.

Secret Craving by catmilla

Sum: Carmilla is the new history teacher at the Silas highschool. The same school she went to herself. She never really liked school, so she surpised a lot of people when she decided she would teach, but it was her dream. College was finally over and she could finally pursue that dream. She’s nervous, but luckily there’s a little blonde girl that is determined to make her feel welcome to her new class and even more excited to “get to know her”.

Also, did you know that teacher-student relations considered sexual, whether consensual or not, is also illegal in public schools and immediate action of termination is required? Doesn’t this sound alot like that bloomington movie? Anyone else? No? Ok, well carry on.

The Trade We Choose by carmillasleatherpants

Sum: Laura needs a new job and she needs it stat. Luckily her friend LaF decided to put in a request for Laura to become the new personal assistant of the famous Carmilla Karnstein at Karnstein Industries until she becomes the new chairman in November when Carmilla turns 25. Or is she so lucky? When she looks at the reviews of how her possible new boss may act, maybe she isn’t as lucky as she thought she would be. At least that’s what the trail of previous personal assistants have said. Laura refuses to believe that anyone could possibly be that terrible.

This is reminds me of a better version of 50 Shade of Grey, but without the weird abuse. And it’s actually really good. Plus I’d watch this movie over and over again without feeling awkward, even while watching it by myself. *cringe* ok so not 50 Shades of Grey

The Black Cat by marissalyn14

Sum: Laura gets dragged to the Black Cat by her friends in order to get the birthday present of her dreams. Little did she know if would be a Kitty cat in a pretty black robe.

Little does Laura know her world would be turned upside down after she met the girl of her dreams. Maybe the Kitty isn’t as innocent as her name suggests.

This story a nice alternate twist to ‘That Was Unexpected’ that I mentioned before and it doesn’t disappoint. There’s smuff and fluff.

Veni, Vidi, Vici by standoutinacrowd

Sum: A HSAU, but what makes it great is that it has a nice twist of also being a stepsister AU. o.o. Hmm so the gothic broody useless lesbian and the bright and sunny popular girl’s parents decide to get married forcing the two to have to live together. Whats wrong with that? Everything! Carmilla has had a crush on the tiny blonde for 3 years. This can’t be happening! Now her crush is her stepsister. Ughh. (insert broody eyerolling).

On top of that Carmilla has a bad rep of rumors floating in the halls, no thanks to the beanstalk, so the ball of sunshine already has a bad image of her. It can’t get worse, right? Ha! The blonde is straight and her twin brother refuses to give up on his chances of getting in the cupcake’s pants.

This is going to be interesting. Smut and fluff.

Sum: A short story in which Danny, Laura and Carmilla all decide that they should get to know each other better by playing ‘Truth or Dare’. We all know the cliche of this one, but it turned out completely different than I thought it would. It’s really good.

Coffee Sophistication by Muse92

Sum: Carmilla works at a coffee shop and she has become an expert at guessing what someone’s order will be. No one has ever surprised her with an order, until now when she meets a tiny journalist. Lots of fluff.

Shameless Smut Tropes by novaprospekt

Sum: I have never felt like a story has ever needed a warning in it’s summary, because well in my opinion I think it gives away the simplicity of the element of surprise. That can always make a story that much better. I have especially haven’t ever felt it necessary to add a warning to a story with a title such as this one, but there’s a first for everything. This story/stories has offended quite a few creampuffs, just because it pushes the boundaries, but if you think you can handle it I highly recommend it. I think it brings a refreshing change to the playground of the Hollistein AUs. I thought it was really good, and you get ample warning before each story provided. So far there are 31 or more stories listen and I think the author plans on adding more in the near future. Enjoy you dirty bastards! Shamelessly.

Anatomy Lessons with Professor Hollis by Fox_is_Fandumb

Sum: Smut with Fluff. Carmilla almost loses her job as the TA for her instructor, Professor Hollis, until Professor Hollis decides to sweep in and offer to tutor her student. The lessons go much better than planned. Maybe Carmilla actually knew a lot more than Professor Hollis had expected.

Sum: Carmilla gets an interesting package in the mail. With all of the impending doom of Silas, Laura is interested in some change. Maybe this mystery package is exactly what she was looking for. Smut with Fluff.

Sum: Smut with some fluff. The title says it all.Could easily take place right after their breakup in season 2, but the author wrote it before it actually had taken place. It still reads as such.

In-Flight Distractions by Muse92

Sum: I want to say that the title says it all again, but I won’t be cruel. This is really good smut, about Carmilla having a fear of flying. Luckily she has a really cute distraction.

- VICTOPHER JOSEPH oh thank GOD we have languished in the time since you've left...welcome back

- i'm so in love with samir's earrings. enamored. obsessed. if i was emo in 2008 which sadly i was not i would be wearing those morning noon and night. he's so cute

- i love the bit where the boyz do Twin Magic and no one at all is confused by it because they look nothing alike and their gear is totally different. its SO funny. A Dastardly Plan. So Sneaky. So Clever. i love them SO much. what wouldnt i do to see them in an almost-storyline with everrise again...

- what wouldn't i do to see ANYONE on 205 in a storyline again :( it's not even that they're hammpered by the title not being on the show (for some dumbass reason) because like as we've SEEN some of 205's best storylines don't have to do with the title at all! though of course storylines around the title can ALSO be phenomenally good!! like, ANYTHING but introducing a new pop punk frontman and going "oh well ariya and tony hate them because theyre newcomers". i love gold standie, we all KNOW this, i would probably realistically stop watching if not for them, but this isn't really a story especially when it isn't going anywhere! no matter if ariya (and tony to some extent but it's really egregious with ariya) wins or loses a match, it doesn't matter or go anywhere! it's just some guys losing to some other guys and nothing happens until someone does something cool and exciting and then they get taken off 205 and to nxt.

- it's very frustrating. once mustafa got taken to the quote unquote main roster, that was it! instead of investing in the future like dbry apparently wanted (thanks sooooo much for that danny) they just take the best bits of it and stash them somewhere they can't outshine a manufactured idea of what wrestling fans will watch. 205...was at one point full of dudes left on their own to do whatever with very little oversight, and they flourished in that condition! they took things into their own hands and made it work. now it feels like...that's just not happening. nxt picks over 205 for whoever gets over and takes them. "too good for 205", or whatever. its just. god i complain about this every fuckin week i know but it really drives me insane knowing how good 205 was!!! seeing this hollow version of it really really does things to my brain. it was so good. it was so good once

- also ariya and mustafa should have feuded. ANYWAY

- OOH we're storming RIGHT in. he's MAD tonite. also he's wearing the sleekish slash design gear i like teehee

UNREAL how intense he is tonight. absolute delight to watch. really conveys that he hates grey's GUTS. a coward who acts like he's above ariya's methods only to use them when he can't beat ariya, and everyone celebrates him for it. ariya has worked himself to the bone for years and for a fraction of the respect and reputation grey's earned in less than a single year of it. ariya has a ROTTEN attitude and he hates grey with all his heart and it's very, VERY hard to say he's wrong. he's fighting with VENOM tonight! he is moving with a hatred that permeates every cell in his body and it's sooooooo good. i love watching him i LOVE him he is so smart and cool and epic

- MAN!!!!!!!!! tony tapped out last week quickly, and ariya gets caught in a submission and refuses. one thing about ariya is he refuses to stop fighting. when he gets in that ring he will do whatever he can to hold out as long as possible. you have to catch him by surprise, or you have to trap him, or you have to wear him out entirely. he...he fights for his pride. he's VERY proud. he occupies a space near the bottom of the cruiserweight hierarchy, and he's very aware of it. he doesn't have much. but he has his dignity. being deprived of that dignity is something he's just not willing to bear. it's the one thing that slips past his pragmaticism, i think, because though his passion gets the best of him sometimes he plans for his own survival at all times. his dignity is something he will hold on to even when holding onto it means his survival isn't guaranteed. i just think....i just think that ariya,

- also making a note, i guess: ariya's feud with akira (one of those feuds enhanced by the pull of the title but that lay in the character of akira first and foremost) pulled on a kind of similarity between them, where they both fight to win at all costs for the sake of their pride. (im not gonna say their honor. because like. well. you know -_-) akira had a support system that eventually convinced him to put his health first in the pursuit of the title, that convinced him to tap out rather than destroy his body for a chance at glory. that's kind of the dilemma of losing by submission, i guess. you give up, or you break. it's a really vulnerable position to be in, especially if you hold on to your pride like that. seeing akira admit to that vulnerability for his own sake was really satisfying! it was a FANTASTIC character arc, even if the way that the title was used during the end was *gritting teeth* bad. it's...its a really good way to pull a character apart and force them to grow or commit. it is THE story move. i think it's interesting that tony ended up tapping almost immediately last week. he's still a pretty arrogant character, he considers his job to be "making people jealous", he's gone through some development and he's not AS boldly disrespectful, but he's still very...haughty. he'll tap, though. he's not STUPID. in a low stakes match against some nobody he has no personal stake in, he'll tap if he can't get out. it's not that big a deal. it's not personal. for ariya, EVERYTHING is personal. tony has a kind of easygoing arrogance about him, but ariya has a RESENTMENT. that's kind of why they respond differently to these things. maybe. i'm just making things up who knows. anyway i think they should kiss to spice things up just for fun really i think 205 needs more gay people on it but all wrestling needs more gay people don't you think
