Snippets: Fallen Feathers, Fallen Angels
Word Count: 748
Characters: Hawkclaw, Milkflower, Asterflower
Hawkclaw is named after a nursery story, one that hovers over her life like a bird circling overhead, waiting for her to slip up, to not live up to expectations. She decides to end that when she has a kit of her own.
—————
There’s a story in TalonClan about their founder. She was a kittypet before she was a Clan cat, and every morning she’d find a hawk’s feather outside her housefolks’ den. She ignored it for many sunrises until the wind picked it up and took it far away, towards a mountain path that the older kittypets had warned her against taking. They had told her that the mountain was full of strange cats the size of lions who ate wandering housecats, and despite their warnings and her own apprehension, she followed the feather. It led her up trails and paths carved by many different animals, through caves and sheer cliffs with no end in sight, and on snow and rough stone that wore down her pawpads, but still, she followed it, for she felt it called to her.
Her flanks were heaving by the time she had reached the peak of the mountain, and the clouds were mere foxlengths away. She looked down the cliffs and saw that her twoleg home was just a series of blurry brown dens. There was a stillness to the air, no wind to taint the taste, just the scent of air where it was its purest, and she felt more at ease than she had when swaddled by twoleg blankets.
It was then when her heart had opened to accept the mountain that she saw the hawk where the feather had originated. It spoke to her.
The hawk told her that she was chosen by StarClan to establish a Clan here near the mountain’s peak where only the bravest and most true could survive. Her Clan would be watched over by him and when they fell, he would carry them in his talons to the stars. He would help guide her, and the leader after her, and the leader after them, and so on.
Hawkclaw had been told that story many times. Her elders told her it was a great honor to be named after the hawk that watched over their Clan, and she usually gritted her teeth and nodded to their empty words. There was no need to kick up a fuss, but she’d heard other warriors murmur how they deserved her name more than she did many times.
Let them have it and see how they like having the hawk’s eye on them. She thought bitterly as she sat in a moss nest decorated with hawk feathers. She picked at one idly with a claw. That’ll change their tune real quick.
Asterflower, her mother, slunk into the nursery with a freshly caught mouse that she almost dropped when her jaw opened wide in awe upon seeing the kit nursing at Hawkclaw’s belly. Quick as a lightning strike, Aspenflower rushed over to her side and crouched over the small patched kit cooing like a dove.
“He’s beautiful, my hawk.” Her mother nuzzled the tom-kit, licking between his ears with a delicate tongue. As if recognizing his kin, the kitten leaned towards the tender affection. He was a loving kit that wanted nothing more than a warm body by his side at all times. “Have you thought of a name?”
Hawkclaw knew what her mother was thinking; what the whole clan was thinking. Featherkit for the kit of a hawk-named. It was only right after all.
      “Milkkit,” She said.
Asterflower blinked, certainly surprised but didn’t argue. “His white patches do resemble milk,” She said after a moment in a measured tone.
She nodded and didn’t say that she hadn’t even thought of his patched fur when she chose the name. She had named him after milk because it was what truly allowed TalonClan to live here, not StarClan or a hawk watching over them. When a cat was their weakest, it was their mother’s milk that gave them strength to grow; it was their kin that guided and watched over them. There was no influence of the stars when it came to raising kittens, only the dedication of the living.
“Tell Icewhisker I chose a name.”
“I will,” Asterflower mewed, seeing the dismissal for what it was.
Once her mother’s tail tip disappeared from the nursery entrance, Hawkclaw gave Milkkit a quick lick, ruffling the fur that had just been smoothed down. “Welcome to TalonClan Milkkit. Let’s hope I don’t regret this.”
But she knew there was no other option. She could never levy those expectations upon her own blood. Let them whisper that he deserved a better name, never a worse one

Looking for 2 Apprentices for a Jcink Warriors RP
EDIT: Both characters have been taken, but we have plenty of other wanted ads with just-as-juicy plots for you to look at on YAWRP!!
Mothflower was a TalonClan warrior. After a sparring incident with her littermates led to the accidental death of her sister, she left the Clans behind, terrified of her brother Silverfire using their sister's death as blackmail.
Years later, Mothflower found a mate and was soon pregnant. Her mate died before the kits were born. She began traveling back towards the Clans. One of her kits died along the way.
Mothflower was terrified. She couldn't do this on her own. Recently, Finchstar of StormClan agreed to take Mothflower and her two surviving daughters in. StormClan and TalonClan have a tense relationship fueled by their shared borders. Though Silverfire, now Silverstar, is unaware of his sister's return, Mothflower knows that she can't avoid him forever.
Was bringing her daughters to live in a Clan the right choice? I need two players, one for each apprentice! Their names are open, but their prefixes must be on our on-site prefix list. Their appearances can be anything within reason. Mothflower is a long-haired silver tabby with white markings and golden-amber eyes; her mate was never described physically, so it's pretty open-ended. Personalities are totally open. Are they terrified of being in a Clan? Do they love or hate the rigidity of Clan life after spending the first ~6 moons of their life as loners? Are they excited to be around new, strange cats? How are they fitting in to StormClan culture? Their history is interesting. Mothflower was open to them about their father, how she loved him but he was taken to the vet and never returned. Their sister didn't make it through leafbare. Mothflower would've told them that they're going to live in a Clan for their own safety. She would not have told them about Silverstar or her personal past in the Clans beyond the fact that she was born and raised in an unspecified Clan. She's holding on to her secrets for as long as she can. I would love it if that blew up in her face. If you're interested, pop on to YAWRP's Discord server and talk to Midnight!

MOON 6/7 - GATHERING 7
Quickstar was glaring at her. That wasn't good.
Beestar glanced between the two of them, shifting a little closer to Finchstar. Stonestar sat down, clearly not caring about whatever was going on between the two of them.
Finchstar inhaled. What were the words again...?
"Clan cats! May all who have gathered get close to the Pool!" Finchstar yelled, and the conversations stopped as the cats of their clans all moved closer. She spotted Whistlerain similarly glaring at her from Downclan's portion of the pool. Riverpaw traced the gaze, as did Whiskershadow, and both directed their gazes to Finchstar in confusion.
Not telling her deputy was likely a mistake. But what was she supposed to do? Admit she accidentally trespassed?
"Our clan is as healthy as ever, even with the frost biting at our trees." Finchstar announced, grinning. "Our clan mealtimes are helping everyone, as I thought."
Beestar tilted her head. "Clan mealtimes?"
"Well, not everyone has to participate. But..." Finchstar waved a tail. "A time where we all eat together and share whatever happened. I feel... closer, you know. Plus, I get to make sure everyone eats."
"That does sound neat." Stonestar meowed, adjusting his paws.
Quickstar said nothing, though their glare did seem to lighten.
Oh, thank the stars.
"That is all."
Beestar got to her paws. An inhale. Finchstar poked her from her new spot on the ground, and Beestar startled a bit, though she did smile.
"There's been strange traps laid out in our territory for a while. They covered up some of the rabbit dens in our territory, which-" a flinch. "... Scorchpaw felt victim to."
Roachpelt's ears in the back fell a bit.
"... But she's recovering well. That's it."
Beestar sat, and scooted a bit closer. "Why is Quickstar glaring at you?" She whispered.
Ah. Finchstar glanced away, ears lowering. Quickstar still hadn't gone yet. "I may have... messed up a bit."
Stonestar shot them a look, but stood up and started announcing anyway. Beestar frowned, but stayed quiet.
"We have a new warrior! Sunpaw has become Sunstrike, a full warrior of Talonclan!"
The pale tabby with a nick in one ear blinked as their clan's attention swiveled to face them, then puffed their chest out when the other clans followed suit. Sunstrike's name echoed around the clearing. Even Riverpaw joined in.
Quickstar got to their paws. Stonestar sat down. Quickstar stared at Finchstar, not even looking out towards the clan. "Our clan is fine. However." Quickstar's tail lashed. "It seems that Needleclan doesn't agree."
Yep. Saw that coming. Finchstar got to her paws. "What did your deputy tell you? Let's start there."
"Told me what I needed to know." Quickstar meowed back, voice still loud. The murmurs started up, and Finchstar pinned her ears down.
"Ah, told you I invaded." Finchstar meowed. It was only partly a question.
"What reason could you have?" Quickstar shot back, eyes narrowing. "Wish to push us back to mountains only? Our territory is suitable, yet..."
"Seems like Whistlerain didn't tell you that I was tired as shit!"
Oh, that got louder than she thought.
Speckleback flinched, and Whistlerain paused from her spot.
"You were?" Whistlerain shouted. "That just sounds like an excuse!"
Finchstar rolled her eyes. "Did you not notice the time of night? It was practically today!" She pointed a tail to the moon. A cloud passed by. "I had just spent that entire morning hunting, then dealing with an argument with our kits! Can't a cat mess up?"
"You're leader, aren't you?" Quickstar questioned. Finchstar's fur raised, but she forced it back down.
"And I'm saying that my actions were not motivated by a desire to push you back to the mountains. I was simply tired. We're all still cats." Finchstar sighed. "Accuse me all you want- I do not want any of it."
Quickstar watched as Finchstar sat back down. Their gaze lightened a bit, but they glanced away. "... That is all."
Beestar pushed her head against Finchstar's. "I get being tired. I'll back you up."
"Thank you."

UGH SUCH A GOOD QUESTION I wish I could find him but I can't so I don't even remember what his name was but uhh...he was a very fluffy golden tabby I think?? I know what color he was I just dont know the proper describing terms 😭 he was an ex kittypet leader of a clan he made for non clanborn cats, mainly, named dustclan. but he didnt take the leader name because he thought it was silly and weird, instead letting a rat named rat have the star suffix being...ratstar. cause he and i thought this was funny. Also he was a cowboy. Yeah, i made him when i had terribly minimal knowledge in warrior cats so...so many things were just confusing and awful and wrong 😭 im p sure i deleted everything i had of him and the other characters in his story out of shame as a now positively knowledge warrior cats fan
Oh fuck nevermind I found samsung notes about him and the other characters. Jackpot! His name used to be Fieldheart cause...i thot it was funny... he also had a weird quarrel with the leader of Talonclan, Eaglestar, sometimes i wrote them as enemies to lovers then i made it so they genuinely wanted to rip eachothers throats out
I think you can tell that i was never a warrior cats kid
Anyways, the other questions!
Ohhh so tough...maaaybe razmerrys Shellspring? Hes very understandable as a villian and I still quite enjoy him when hes not doing villian activites
I think i answered this one before, id link it but uh. I dont really want to go and find it. But consensus: I cant pick a most proud of drawing

Character Highlights: Dappleface
Son of Bramblewhisker and later mate of Tanglefur.
Dappleface was brought to RidgeClan by his father, Bramblewhisker, as a kit with his ears barely unfolded. He never knew of kittypet life and he’s never felt an urge to find his birth mother. He was content in RidgeClan.
Once things become serious, Dappleface loses interest quickly. He’s more of a go-with-the-flow type and hates to be tied down. Bugstar, who seems to love giving himself difficult apprentices, had a rocky relationship with Dappleface when training him because the tom would either ignore his chores entirely or find ways to make the other apprentices do it for him, which was quite easy when one is so easy on the eyes. His wit and intelligence proved to be challenging for the older warriors when he could talk circles around them as well. He had a fling with a TalonClan warrior for a few seasons, but it didn’t pan out. He simply wasn’t ready for a relationship.
He did mellow out later in life, and once he discovered his actual gender identity, he felt like apprehension with long-term relationships faded away. He started a relationship with Tanglefur. After all, he’d spent enough time in the medicine cat den with whitecough and a broken leg that he knew her better than any other cat in the Clan. He raised a litter with her: Kitewhisker and Brookpaw. He also trained an apprentice, Forestpelt, who greatly admired him.
Dappleface outlived most of his kin. Brookpaw and Lightfur (Dappleface’s sister) were both killed after BoulderClan warriors raided RidgeClan camp in the middle of the night. His father, Bramblewhisker, was killed by a fox returning from mediator business, too old to fend it off. Forestpelt, his apprentice, was killed by the same dog that mangled Tanglefur’s tail. His mate Tanglefur died of yellowcough; she was unwilling to give herself what little lungwort was left when a kit needed it more. Kitewhisker was taken by twolegs.
Each of these deaths weighed heavy on Dappleface, happening in quick succession. He felt like there was more he could’ve said or done to prevent them.
That’s why when heavy rains caused the camp to flood, Dappleface dove into the floodwaters to try and save Wishstorm. Wishstorm was one of Tanglefur’s kits from her first litter, and even though they weren’t blood kin, Dappleface still cared for the she-cat greatly. Wishstorm, with her weak leg, couldn’t fight the current, and Dappleface did his best to try and save her but to no avail. He wasn’t a great swimmer and trying to carry another cat only ended up dragging them both down beneath the rising water.
Despite having no kin left in the Clan, there were many cats to talk of Dappleface’s life at their vigil. Bugstar recounted tales of Dappleface’s mischievous apprentice days. Brindlecloud spoke upon Dappleface’s actions as a warrior that younger ones could depend upon. Bushpelt talked about how Dappleface would light up the medicine cat den whenever he visited. Everyone in there was Dappleface’s kin after all.
Dappleface was loved by the Clan even if he could be sly at times. As one of the first kits in the Clan, he’s remembered well in Clan stories.

MidnightClan cats are independent, even in the company of their Clanmates. One-on-one friendships are most common. Walks and hunts are most often done in pairs. Three-cat friendships are common as well. Words of affirmation and praise are great sources of pride in MidnightClan. These warriors share love best by vocalizing it! StormClan cats often form large, loose social groups within the Clan. The most humorous, sharp-witted cats tend to be the most popular in StormClan. In-jokes and playful wresting are common displays of platonic affection. LeafClan cats are competitive with their Clanmates. Their egos are fragile and they love to challenge and dare each other, even as warriors, claiming it sharpens their skills. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer if you want to climb the social ladder. Quality time together is a great way to show affection, even if it leads to a hunting contest.
SunsetClan cats are too trusting, even amongst Clanmates. They love gifting one another shells and rocks; if you see a pretty doodad that reminds you of your friend, you'd better snag it and give it to them! SunsetClan cats are often loving and emotionally open. In TalonClan, extreme weather, difficult terrain, and other hardships form tight-knit bonds between cats. They work together constantly, arguably more so than other Clans' cats, to keep one another alive. They love playful ribbing and roasting. Gifting feathers is a great way to show affection.
