hi all
🥲🥲 my account, @therentyoupay, was terminated today while i was eating dinner.
i have contacted tumblr support but reddit says that getting reinstated is really hit or miss. i don’t trust tumblr anymore so i don’t think i will be using it after this, even if they give me my account back. i have no idea what triggered its termination.
all posts from the last eleven years, as well as my fic-only blog (@therentyoupay-fanfiction), my advice blog, my organized fandom event blogs (@evenly-matched and @jelsaweekend), and my main have all been terminated. all the tumblr-only fic, the master posts, the manifestos, mutuals who i had not yet gotten phone numbers for, and fanart—gone.
will i be able to get it reinstated? i don’t know. even if i do, i think it’s a sign that it’s time to move away from tumblr.
it feels weird. i feel okay and also a little bereft. i hadn’t used tumblr for three years at one point but it was always nice to know that i could come back to it.
not sure if there is anything better than tumblr at this point. i think it might be time to just make a website of my own; or just stick to ao3.
i’ll use this account for now as a catchall for anyone who might be trying to find me. otherwise, the surest bet, for now, is ao3 and ao3 only.
thanks all 💕💕

Chapter 5 – Love Lessons
This chapter is set after Korra has had her full Bending ability restored.
o0o0o0o
Tahno trudged home after a long day of delivering messages. He had a better appreciation for the working man now, working all these shifts for minimum wage. It had felt weird moving back home, especially since his teenagehood had been tumultuous, and he fought with his parents quite when he was younger, but now he got along better with them. His parents had bought a small house a few years ago, and he sat in a wicker chair in the modest front yard, taking a breath of fresh air.
His mother came out, giving him some tea. He had to admit, it was nice having her fuss over him. He had been so used to being independent and supporting himself. He didn't want to be a mooch, but he had to admit, it was nice being 'mommied' again. He sipped his tea, thinking of Korra. It’d been months, but the memory of her had not faded. Nor did he think they would ever. He’d taken – and been taken by – the Avatar, and though he was older and more experienced than her, she’d taught him quite a few things in and out of the bedroom.
If Korra knew what Tahno was thinking about, she probably would have smiled. It was good to be back in Republic City. She was glad that she had finally started to understand how to access her past lives for help. If the spirit of Avatar Aang could restore her Bending and give her the knowledge to restore other people's Bending, she wondered how truly powerful the Avatar Spirit was. Anyway, she wanted to try to help restore the Bending to the people who lost theirs to Amon. It wasn't right for innocent people to have a part of them taken away. It would be a long time before the city was in balance again, but she wanted to try.
Korra remembered the promise that she told Tahno that if she ever figured out how to restore someone's Bending, she would let him know. "Naga, help me find Tahno," she instructed her polar beardog. Naga led Korra further inland, into an area that looked to be modest and middle-class, with houses lining much of the streets, dotted by an occasional grocer or other shop. A few Cabbage Cars and lower-end Satomobiles were parked on the sides of the road.
Tahno looked up as he heard someone's surprised yelp from a few doors down, and looked over the low wall that surrounded his parent's yard, eyes widening as he saw a familiar creature. "Korra!" he called out, waving. She smiled at him and waved back and led the beast over to him before she climbed off Naga.
"Naga, don't eat those." Korra scolded her dog as she sniffed some of the shrubs. He came through the gate and hugged her in a friendly way. "I'm really glad to see you again, Korra," he said warmly.
"It's good to see you too. I have good news. Would it be alright if I sit with you and talk?"
Tahno blinked. Did she mean… His heart started beating quite fast.
"Of course. Naga can come too, but there is not that much room in the yard, she will need to be careful." he cautioned as he led her within the walls. His mother, seeing he had a guest, brought some tea for Korra, He led her to the other wicker chair, sitting across from her. He looked different now, a little more worn but also with an appealing sense of maturity that replaced his cocky swagger. He was still in his delivery uniform.
“That time in the South Pole was what I needed. I finally connected with my past lives and Avatar Aang's spirit restored my Bending and gave me the knowledge to help restore other people's bending." she smiled. "Lin Bei Fong was the first person I tried this technique on and it worked! She can Barthbend again! You’re the first person that came to mind after I healed her."
He was silent for a moment, processing the fierce churn of emotions within him. He would get his Bending back! Yes! Finally! He tried to not seem too excited, and he took a deep breath, trying to be cool. "That is wonderful news, Korra. I'm really glad you got it back, and good for Lin, too."
"Well, would you like me to give you your Bending back?"
"I think you know the answer to that, don't you?"
She grinned and stood up. "Well, you're going to have to kneel for me," she smirked. "Oh, uh, don't be frightened when my eyes start to glow. I need my past lives to help me when I Energybend."
He nodded and got to his knees, it felt a bit weird since he had been in the same position when he was de-bended. He felt her thumb against his forehead, and her hand on his chest. He took a deep breath as she closed her eyes and summoned the help of her past lives to Energybend.
Somewhere deep within, he wasn't sure if it was his head or chest or elsewhere, but it felt like Korra had opened the block that Amon imposed on him, and he closed his eyes as he felt the tension release itself, like a dam that had been broken. The chi flowed through his body like water racing into dry channels, and he let out a short, shuddering moan, one that was almost of pleasure and relief.
His eyelids fluttered open, and he stared into bright blue eyes. Her thumb slid from his forehead so that she could cup the side of his face with that hand as she gave him a gentle smile. "Come on. Try to Waterbend."
Tahno looked around before he saw the teacups and flicked his wrist, The water in them rippled. He moved his fingers, and the water snaked out. Gods! It felt incredible! He flexed his fingers, causing the water to spin and writhe around them in a ribbon.
The water gently plopped back into the cups before he pulled her in for a bear hug. She buried her face against his shoulder, and they stood like this for several moments.
"It feels incredible to Waterbend again,” he sighed happily, knowing he was stating the obvious but it had to be said nonetheless.
“Oh, I know the feeling.” His body felt strong and warm, and she leaned into it.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too,” she admitted quietly before she looked back up at him. His hair was combed, hanging at the side of his face, a little longer than before. ”Hey, now that you have your Bending back, you can make your hair look fabulous again." she teased. “Pretty boy.”
"Ahh, I also missed you calling me that."
"And I missed hearing you call me, Uh-vatar."
"Uh-vatar." he said in a playful singsong tone.
"So what have you been up to these past months?" she asked as she took her seat again on the wicker chair.
"Well, I took a job as a deliveryman," he said, motioning to his uniform. "It doesn't pay as well as Pro-Bending, of course, but I've learned a thing or two about having a real job."
“Do you think you’ll return to Pro-Bending?”
He shrugged. "I'm not sure." Moving back in with his parents and taking a regular job was essentially starting a new life. Now that he had his Bending back… he knew one thing was for certain. He could not repeat the things he'd done in the past. Sure, he'd been young and stupid, but he'd still made conscious choices, and some of them had been pretty bad. It'd also been nice not dealing with the pressure of dealing with the public and paparazzi. In a way, coming here had been something of a detoxification process. Just because he had his Bending back didn't mean he needed to let toxic people back into his life.
Not that he hadn’t been a toxic person himself at times…
"I don't know. Maybe I could become a healer like my mother. It's a decent-paying job and I'll be able to help people. I’m not entirely sure I want to return to Pro-Bending," he admitted.
She nodded thoughtfully. “I guess that’s because of…” she trailed off, but both of them knew what she was talking about.
“If I do go back… and that’s a huge if, things are going to be different. I'm a little ashamed of the person I became."
“Just a little?” Korra asked dryly. He regarded her with a sheepish expression.
“I’m older and wiser, Korra.”
“Pfft. You’re not that old.”
"Gee, thanks." he grinned at her as he lightly touched her cheek.
"Hey, I'll still be around Republic City for a while. I got Avatar work to do, so maybe we can hang out more."
"I really would love that. I remember the day we spent at the beach.”
She smiled warmly at that. “Glad to see I’m not the only one who remembers that fondly.” They rose from their seats, and he gently kissed her forehead. She hugged him, and he wrapped his arms around her tightly, resting his chin on her head.
“I’ll see you around, then?” she asked as she pulled back.
"Of course. You know where I live, you can come bother me any time." he teased.
“See you later, pretty boy,” Korra said before she mounted Naga, and Tahno stood at the gate, watching them make their way down the road.
o0o0o0o
Tahno had been seeing Korra regularly, sometimes she came over to his parent's house, other times he took her out for dinner or walks, sometimes he took her out in his Satomobile, other times she would return the favor and take him around on Naga. Since he got his Bending back and wanted to make use of it, he was now shadowing an acquaintance of his mother's as an apprentice healer.
Korra rode on Naga to Tahno's place, wanting to spend the afternoon with him. She'd spent the morning at the Police Headquarters helping to restore the people's Bending. After a few, it was tiring. She knew it would take a while before she could undo all the damage the Amon had done to his victims. It was nice to get away from her Avatar duties and hang out with Tahno.
The man in question was meditating in the yard, and this time there were no shouts of alarm or surprise. So he did not become aware of his friend’s presence until Naga came along the wall that enclosed the yard, their shadow coming across his face and cutting off the sunlight that shone through his eyelids. He opened his eyes and grinned before he rose to his feet.
"What's a pretty little thing like you doing in a place like this?" he asked with a grin before he rubbed Naga under her chin.
"Stopping by to spend time with you. How's your apprenticeship going?”
"Pretty good, actually," he said, talking a bit about his day and what he had learned. "I'm learning so much about Waterbending. It's opened my eyes," he admitted.
"I can imagine. I felt the same way when Master Katara started teaching me about using Waterbending to heal."
"So.,.. what did you want to do tonight?”
"How about we head to the beach? Maybe a moonlit swim?"
"Sounds like fun. Let me change into something more appropriate." And get something else, he thought as he went into the house. He came back out, looking a bit nicer, his hair was also in the waterfall that she knew and was fond of. he grinned up at her and let her help him onto Naga. Holding onto her, loving the feel of her body against his.
"You seem to be in a really good mood today," Korra commented as Naga ambled down the road.
"Oh, I am," he said as he rested his head against her shoulder. The beach greeted them with a pleasant vista, the afternoon sun hanging over the horizon as they slid off Naga and started taking off their boots and socks. He dug his toes into the sand as he listened to the waves crashing against the rocks and sand. Not only that but with his Bending restored, he could feel the water that surrounded him. It was much like a mother's embrace, encompassing and comforting.
The trio ambled down the beach, Naga occasionally darting forward to sniff at something or play in the water. He felt her hand seek out his own, and offered it, feeling her fingers intertwine with his. Pausing in his steps, he turned toward her.
"How do you feel about me?" he asked as he looked down at her. She blushed and blinked, regarding him with a smile.
"I enjoy spending time with you. I've seen you change as a person, and I'd say you're probably my closest friend."
"Really? I'm your friend?" he paused. "Is that all? I mean, I'm just curious, since we've been more than friends…"
She was thoughtful as she stared out at the waves for several moments. "I am fond of you," she finally said.
"What would you say if I said I cared for you? I mean, deeply?"
She turned back to him. “I care about you, too.” She squeezed his hand.
“Am I someone you would consider spending your life with?”
Her eyes widened as she absorbed the implications of what he was saying. Their relationship thus far had been made up of different things. In the beginning, there had been animosity, yes. Then there was the flirting and teasing, the playful challenges and snarking, and then… there had been genuine care and affection. And respect.
And now, they had moved beyond all that, though neither of them gave a name to that new level, at least not yet.
“Well… with you… that's something that is… worth considering," Korra finally said. He gave her hand a reassuring squeeze before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a necklace.
"I made this for you," he said gently. "I would be honored if you allowed me to court you."
Korra was speechless as Tahno handed her the necklace. She looked at the image he had carved on it and saw that it was an abstract design of a seashell engraved on a blue stone, she was reminded of the necklace that she had seen Master Katara wear. She was silent for a moment before she stepped forward to hug Tahno and whisper, "Yes."
He nuzzled her and hugged her fiercely, placing a gentle kiss on her cheek. "I’m glad you liked the design. I almost went crazy trying to figure out what to do for the design, I wanted it to have a special meaning for both of us."
The idea had come to him when he recalled that day they spent on the beach. There’d been no sex, yet it had been an incredible day with her, and it was what helped him realize that his attraction for her went beyond a carnal level.
“It fits,” she said as she felt the design under her fingertips. He let her study the pendant before placing the necklace around her shapely neck.
"You look beautiful." he breathed as he touched her cheek. "But then, you always do."
She pulled him in for a kiss, sucking on his lower lip. He stroked her hair, feeling like the happiest man in the world.
o0o0o0o
It had been about a week since Tahno’s proposal. They had decided to take an afternoon off to have a picnic at the beach and enjoy time together. Korra strolled up the street on Naga to Tahno’s house, eyes sparkling as Tahno’s mother greeted her before retreating inside to give the young couple some privacy.
"Well, there's my beautiful, gorgeous, sexy fiancee," Tahno said with a grin as he drew her into his arms.
"Aren't you looking handsome and fabulous today? Ready for a fantastic day at the beach?"
He flipped his waterfall. "Baby, I've been ready for it all week." He wiggled his eyebrows at her, giving her a playful leer. She chuckled at that before he went inside to get the basket he'd packed and a blanket. She secured them to Naga before the two of them climbed on her. It was almost funny to think that he was now riding Naga regularly after their unpleasant first meeting.
“How’s work going?”
"Pretty well. I'm older than most of the other apprentices, but since I was a Pro-Bender, that has helped me advance quickly in some ways." They chatted a bit more about their work before arriving at their beach.
“Well, here we are. At our spot,” he whispered warmly into her ear. She chuckled at that.
“Yes, our spot.” She looked up at him fondly before they slid off Naga, spreading out the blanket and sitting down for their picnic after taking off their shoes so they could curl their toes in the sand. He opened the basket and took out several goodies that he’d helped his mother make, including gyoza, rice balls, and vegetable wraps.
“I also brought along marshmallows we could roast. And chocolate to dip the fruit in. If you’re willing to Firebend, that is,” he said as he brought out a container of fruit and a bag of the puffy confectionery as well as a ceramic container filled with pieces of solid chocolate.
“Ooh! Yes, I can make us a fire in a bit.”
"You already make me hot in my pants." Tahno teased as he took a bite of his gyoza.
"I'd be disappointed if I didn't," she smirked before she munched on her wrap. He took out a rice ball, munching on it as he stared out at the vista. The sky was starting to take on colors at its fringes, indicating that afternoon was turning to evening.
“I’m just about ready for my treat,” Korra said before she lifted the clay pot, applying a judicious amount of Firebending to melt the chocolate. To ensure it was melted through and through, she stuck her pinky finger in it, stirring before lifting the digit to her lips. Her tongue darted out, and she eyed him as she slowly licked her finger. He felt a familiar surge of heat that had nothing to do with Firebending…
"Now I'm imagining drizzling that chocolate along your naked body and licking it off.…"
"Mmm, I bet your cock would taste wonderful with chocolate smeared onto it."
"I do believe it would." he grinned as he dipped a strawberry before eating it. Korra took a strawberry, making a show of licking the strawberry clean of the chocolate before taking a bite.
"Mmmm... perhaps you would like to remind me more of your licking skills later..." he said with a smirk, eating another strawberry.
“Maaaaaaybe…” came her drawl as she dipped another strawberry.
"Since we're teasing one another and talking about sex... why don't we do it here?"
Her eyebrows raised in interest. "Sex on the beach? That's rather bold."
"We're alone, Naga is keeping guard, and we're both skilled Waterbenders, and you're the Avatar. Don't tell me you're afraid of a bit of sex on the beach." he grinned.
"I'm not afraid," she pouted. "This place has a special meaning for us. Sure, I'm up for some hot sex on the beach with my hot fiance," she smirked. "So..., we gonna get naked?"
He pulled off his jacket and shirt before wiggling his way out of his pants, wearing nothing but black undershorts while she did similarly, sitting back down on the blanket in her panties.
“You look good shirtless,” she said as she ogled him, making no secret of it. He grinned and puffed out his chest, flexing his arms and posing for her. Unable to resist this stroking to his ego – other parts of him would get plenty of stroking soon enough – he swayed his hips, doing a bit of a dance for her. The sunlight shone on his pale skin, casting it a rich gold in the waning light. With the waves crashing behind him, it made for a stunning show.
He smirked at her as he slid off his underwear, now dancing naked, completely au naturel on the beach, looking like a god that had just emerged from the sea. Her eyes widened, and she welcomed the hot stab of arousal that passed through her core.
He approached her and crawled onto the blanket towards her with a seductive purr, tugging at her breastwrap with his teeth. She giggled and batted at him lightly a couple of times, but allowed him to divest her of the garment as he growled at her playfully. Her hands reached up to massage her breasts for him, and he closed in to suck the left nipple, nuzzling the warm mound of flesh.
She leaned back on the blanket, letting out a sigh of contentment as she watched him attend to her breasts with his hands and mouth before he moved down to her underwear. Lifting her hips, she watched as he divested her of the last of her clothing, tossing it aside to the side.
"You look good enough to eat," he said with a purr. "Almost as good as a strawberry..." he joked. She rolled her eyes, but she had to admit his teasing could be amusing sometimes… and he let her tease him back. When she felt his hands on her thighs, she whispered his name, pulling her knees apart. He wasted no time in pleasuring her, and she had to muffle her cries. The last thing she needed was someone walking in on them!
She lay there in a haze of pleasure as Tahno sat back on his knees, unsurprisingly erect as he looked down at her. She looked at his turgid flesh for several moments before an idea came to her, and she grabbed the chocolate. Dipping two fingers after reheating the chocolate, she dripped the warm treat along the top side of his cock.
“Fuck, Korra…” he breathed, watching her tongue slather up and down him, licking the chocolate off his stiff flesh, his cock twitching happily under the ministrations. "Does the good girl want a lolly?' he could not help but tease as he sat back. Fuck, it felt so good, and he watched as she savored her treat as he felt her hand massage his balls. She was rewarded with a new treat when he had his orgasm, but she continued licking him, ensuring that all traces of chocolate and semen were gone. Which did a pretty damn good job in ensuring that he remained hard.
She sat back, and he was certain she would ask if she could ride him. His cock ached for it, and he wiggled his hips, making the hard flesh bounce. He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.
"Mmm, I'd love to take your sweet, sweet ass again," she smirked at him. He gave out a mild groan of dismay at that.
"You want my ass? Not my cock?" he chided lightly.
"I do want your cock, but you did enjoy that one night when I played with your ass."
"I admit nothing," he said with a mock huff, crossing his arms.
"Your ass is mine, pretty boy!”
"All of you is mine." he shot back, flipping his waterfall.
"Mmmm, I guess it is." She smiled, stroking the stone of her necklace.
"You look hot wearing nothing but that. Well, hotter than usual." he grinned. "Come here, baby." He held out his arms to her. She wiggled close and snuggled against him as he kissed her forehead. Her fingers trailed along his chest.
"So, you gonna let me claim your ass again?" she smirked.
"Why should I?" he mock challenged.
"Because I'm the Avatar and I said so." she teased.
"Oh, don't tell me you're going to be lording that over me through our relationship," he mock grumbled.
"You're just gonna have to deal with it." she grinned. To that, he could only blow a raspberry.
"Mmm, hey, we haven't tried bondage in any of our sex play. If you let me ride your ass, you can restrain me and tease me,” she offered. His lips spread into a lecherous smirk as he imagined the possibilities.
"Now, that's more like it," he said.
"So we have a deal then? See, I can compromise."
"Isn't that what marriage is about?" he replied in his usual smart-ass way. Yes, he stopped being a jerk, but he was not going to stop being Tahno. Korra lightly punched him in the arm before blowing a raspberry.
“Come on now, show me that gorgeous ass of yours,” she commanded as she Bended some water, manipulating it in the shape of a cock and anchoring it to herself via its other end, effectively making a double-ended dildo.
She preceded to attach the water strap-on to herself so that she was sporting her own cock. Looking over his shoulder with a sultry gaze, he assumed the position, rolling over onto his knees and swaying his hips, wiggling his butt at her. She came up behind him, giving his cheeks a firm squeeze and a light spank.
He gasped quietly and nibbled his lower lip, his cock aching. Noting his reaction, she spanked him several times, his skin taking on a pale rose hue as he writhed, wiggling at her. Korra tapped his puckered opening with the tip of her water-cock. She heard him take a deep breath, but he did not pull away. She reached down to rub his back as she pushed her hips forward.
“...Ohhh…" Tahno let out a moaning exhale as she slid in all the way, fingers digging into the blanket as he clenched around the intruder. And then, as he relaxed, there was only enjoyment. He lowered his shoulder, resting his head on his arms as he felt the head of Korra's 'cock' rub against his prostate as she pushed in and out, causing precum to drip from his cock.
“Yes,” Korra said in encouragement and approval before using her Bending to make the water vibrate within both of them. He jerked and gave out a small mewl of surprise before he arched his back in delight.
"Oh, spirits." he moaned, his penis aching even more than it was, straining against the air as it sought some relief for itself, twitching, some precum beaded at the tip. She increased her pace, panting as she worked herself to her climax, the vibrations and thrusting bringing him near his own, but he was unable to go over the edge, however close he hovered near the brink.
Finally, she pulled out, and Tahno looked over his shoulder with a shaky smile on his face. He couldn't believe how fucking hard he was. She discarded the water by Bending it to a distant spot before rubbing his ass. Her hands slid over the smooth curves of his rear end.
“Now, wasn’t that fun?” she cooed, pressing her breasts against his back as she leaned over.
"Yes," he admitted with a smirk. "And I know you enjoy being on top, in more ways than one."
"A deal is a deal though. Now it's your turn to be on top and tease me." she smiled sweetly.
"Then lie down like a good woman,” he said in a mock commanding tone. She rolled onto her back and propped herself on her elbows.
"Spread wide." he purred. As she did so, he summoned water to bind her hands and ankles, turning them to ice, and leaving her spread open. Before he touched her pussy though, he formed an ice-cube and touched it to her right nipple, seeing her gasp.
“Hey, that’s cold!” she whined.
"So it is," he said casually, teasing her with it for a bit before moving to her other nipple. She hissed at him as he continued to tease her nipples. She could very well Waterbend out of her bindings, or melt them if the cold became too much. But she was being a good girl, and remaining where he put her.
"Perhaps I should touch this to your clit..." he whispered.
“Oooooo! No!” Korra said with a horrified gasp.
"Don't worry, I'm not that cruel..." He traced the ice cube around her navel but did not go any further south. She watched him with hooded eyes, wondering what he would do next. He slid the melting ice along her body until it was almost gone before he climbed on top of her, gently tickling her armpits and sides, she was bound and in no position to resist. She let out a giggle at that, squirming against him.
"I love the sound of your laughter," he said as he poked her sides before placing a kiss on her cheek. He'd waited long enough, and his aching flesh was so red at the tip it was almost purple. With a wave of his hand, her binds were loosened, and he climbed on top of her, sliding the tip of his cock along her slit before pressing forward just a bit. She moaned and arched, and he pulled his hips back. He teased her some more, however, playfully nudging her quivering slit with his cock before pulling back a bit, and then poking her again, pulling back when it seemed like he would push in.
"Quit stalling and get inside of me already!" she pouted.
"What's the magic word?" he teased.
She growled at him. "Now." She paused for a bit before saying quietly, "Please."
He kissed her on the lips before burying himself within her in one single thrust. She let out a loud groan as she registered the feeling of his length buried in her throbbing cunt.
"This is what you've been waiting for, Korra?" he asked with a knowing smirk. She nodded eagerly, showing no hesitation.
"Ffff... yes.... that's it, you know what I love..." He continued to thrust slowly so he could enjoy the clenching. She grinned at him before she clenched around him firmly, not wanting to let him go. It was not long before he picked up the pace, and she wrapped her legs around his waist.
“You make me feel so good,” Korra purred as she stroked his face with one hand.
"That's my job. But it's a job I enjoy," he replied, leaning down to kiss her. She kissed him back, sucking on his lips and playing with his tongue while his hand traveled down to her clit, now playing with it as he continued thrusting inside of her.
"Keep doing that, I'm so close." she groaned. He nodded and did just as she asked, before giving out a pleased cry as he came. It took several more thrusts from his cock and fingers before Korra achieved her climax, and he moved in a languorous but steady pace, drawing out the pleasure for both of them. When he started to soften, he slid out and plopped down at her side.
Korra sighed in contentment and snuggled up to Tahno, wrapping her arm around his middle. After some time basking in their companionship, he spoke. "All that fucking has gotten me hungry."
"Yeah, I'm a little hungry too. Say, you wanna roast these marshmallows? That would be a great post-sex snack." she grinned.
"Some sugar after the sugar I got from you? Sounds good!" They collected their clothing, insulating themselves against the cooling of the evening. She pulled out some provisions for Naga and a large leather canteen of fresh water, Bending some sand and rock into a temporary bowl so Naga could eat.
The Avatar lit fire to several pieces of suitably dried driftwood while Tahno relaxed on the blanket, watching her.
"Such a hard worker, you'll be a good wife." he teased. She snorted at that and rolled her eyes.
"Being a Firebender has its perks. I can easily keep myself warm and keep a fire going."
"I'll be expecting you to keep me warm, of course, it will be part of your wifely duties."
She gave him a feigned glare, and he grinned. “Hey, if you can lord your Avatarhood over me, then I can lord my manhood over you,” he said before he flipped his waterfall and taking on a lordly expression. Nonetheless, he got up and found several more pieces of wood on the other side of the beach, and between the two of them, they had a steady fire going. He took two sticks and cleaned the tips before placing marshmallows on them.
They both liked theirs with a bit of a crisp on the outside and giggled as they carefully let the outer layer burn a little before pulling the treats away from the fire.
“Mmm, this is so good,” Korra moaned as she locked a bit of melted marshmallow from her finger.
"That's why I brought it along," he said with a grin. "Although you make a tasty snack, too…"
She gave him a playful growl before roasting a fresh marshmallow, and they talked and joked, sometimes feeding the other person their marshmallow. As the fire died down, they laid back, watching the sun go below the water. They knew they should be going soon, but he didn’t want to get up, not when he was high on sugar and sex, with the Avatar loosely spooned up to him.
"And to think none of this would have happened if I hadn't offered you these private lessons…"
"Ffff. I remember you wouldn't leave me alone, no matter how much I taunted you back."
"Admit it, you enjoyed our banter."
"I enjoyed watching you reel back and squeal in fear when I called for Naga to roar at you when we first met." she pointed out.
"Not as loudly as you squealed when I ate you out for the first time." he shot back.
"I hope we have many more relaxing and fun days like today has been in our future together." she yawned. He nodded and wrapped his arm around her shoulders as he licked the last of a marshmallow from his thumb. He looked down at her with a fond smile.
"I love you."
She snuggled contentedly against his shoulder. "I love you too."

HaefacielSmilingTitan - Back when The Legend of Korra first aired, I was a Makorra fan. That changed with Tahno’s infamous “private lessons” double entendre. I wasn’t alone in thinking that Tahno and Korra would be a fun and sexy couple. The LoK community certainly delivered producing delightful fanart of Tahnorra. “Lessons” was started a long time ago and I’m so happy that this epic is finally completed and available for fans to enjoy.
StyrawberryCatBeans – So, me and Haefaciel worked out this story way back when Korra was still airing, and recently we got to talking about Avatar and One Piece (which is my current main fandom, lol) Due to various stresses in real life I had not gotten much writing done in the last few years, and the writer's block was terrible. However, late last year, I had an event that shook things up and some of that shakeup was good. I have gotten more writing done in the last few months than I have in the last couple of years, and it's amazing. I finished this story and also posted a story I also co-authored with Haefaciel, called 'Spoken Truth' which is about Ming-Hua and Ghazan. (oh yeah baby)
Even with Korrasami being canon, we both still ship Tahnorra, and we had chatted about how it’d be great if Korra was with Tahno and Asami. Who says she has to choose, Asami’s also smart and sexy and has a gorgeous waterfall in her hairstyle, so when Korra’s tired from sexing Asami and Tahno, she can watch them have gorgeous waterfall smex.
Yeah, we got a little corny and cheesy there, but what's the point of having a friend if you can't share these corny and cheesy moments? So if you enjoyed this story, please come and check out my other works. Have a great day and let's hope 2024 is better than the last few years! Lord knows we need a (looooooong) break from all this fuckery.

wait, kris. are you actually on right now? did i see you reblog something?
i've been with you since 2011/2012? (the crazy tahnorra days, honestly the best times) and always reread: The Break the Ice Series, Personal Record, and TON I just wanted to let you know that you are one of my favorite writers (not just of fanfiction) and i think the caliber of your work is what i am consistently striving for whether i'm writing fanfic (not so much these days) or original work.
thank you for all of the joy, laughs, and tears that your writing has not only brought me, but everyone who has had a chance to read anything you've written.
<3
Now an actual ask lol: Are you ever planning to write or have you wrote any original fiction? Because I swear I would throw all of my money at you ;)
yes!!! three weeks-ish ago, i logged into tumblr for the first time in years! (and dropped a chapter update for a fic i hadn't updated in basically five years! woo!)
as i finish my final semester of classes in my PhD program and start to turn towards writing my dissertation, i was struck with random fic-writing inspiration and started, admittedly, to feel more like how i did when i was a veritable writing machine during my master's program and during my initial first few months of living in japan. moving back to the states and then going through the pandemic really took its tool, especially since i moved across the country (again!) and started a PhD program, but now things are all finally starting to come together and i'm about to enter the land of all but dissertation (ABD)! woo!!
thank you so much for your sweet message 😭😭😭😭😭😭 and happy ten/eleven/twelve-year anniversary of that fateful summer of tahnorra 2012!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 your comment and support means so much!! it's crazy to think how we've all basically grown up together on this website and through this fandom and through all of our ongoing WIPs 😭🙏 thank you!!!
i hope to write my original fiction within the next ten years or so!! first, i want to finish my PhD dissertation, then maybe publish some of my research in a nonfiction book, and then try my hand at writing a novel (or MANY HAHAHAH)
thank you so much for your support 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i'll keep y'all posted!!!! thanks for sticking around and for sharing the love!!

List your rarepairs. List your favorite fics about them.
@michellemagly posted a list of her favorite rarepairs with some of her favorite fics. Here's a bunch of mine in no particular order. Feel free to tag and post your own list if you'd like!
1. Tahnorra from Legend of Korra: This pairing was born in a perfect storm. In Book 1 Tahno and Korra shared a lot of similarities (skilled benders who like being the best, fighting, and who pin their whole identities on their ability to bend) while having that unresolved sexual tension of being rivals who acted like they didn't take the other person seriously. At first I shipped them because it was way more interesting than watching Makorra implode into a joyless mess. Then we got that scene in the police station. We were given a glimmer of the potential that Tahno had as a character. And suddenly what had just been a rivalrymance transformed into a potentially beautiful slow-burn of two young people maturing in a rapidly changing world as they struggled with their identies and had a lot of emotionally charged hurt/comfort makeouts. Then Tahno never appeared in a meaningful way ever again. Happily, I had Korrasami to comfort me. I have two fics for this. One is called Picture Me (Under Blood Red Moon) by lightningwaltz and it's NSFW. The other is I Can Take the Heat by my wonderful friend Michelle Magly (Tahno becomes a firefighter!)
2. Zevris from Dragon Age: Both Fenris and Zevran have lived very similar lives (slavery, abuse, and division from their elvish roots). They do cope with it in different ways and, when you meet them, both think they're unlovable. Fenris because he can't escape his past and Zevran because he let someone he loved be killed. I feel like they would be able to support each other through their respective traumas while also enjoying one another's snarky senses of humor. Three Nights in Kirkwall by Brynneth hits all the right emotional notes. @wombuttress has also written an exquisite Zevris one-shot in their Rare Gems series.
3. Evfra de Tershaav x Paaran Shie from Mass Effect Andromeda: There’s something every subtle in the way these two characters talk about one another to Ryder. Just this implication of something beyond a professional relationship. They are presented as two people being both very different but also completely on equal footing. So my brain immediately went, colleagues with benefits relationship that eventually turns to lovers. Sadly, there is only one fic for this pairing on the interwebs (Michelle Magly wrote a Robin Hood AU one for me and it’s so good! But she hasn’t posted it to AO3 yet). It was written by me and it’s very NSFW, but I’m rather proud of it. It’s called Attachments.
4. Russia x America from Hetalia: This list wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t include a nod to my first big rarepair ship, RusAme. Hetalia as a fandom has kind of died away (it’s also a very different world politically now than it was eight to nine years ago) and I don’t really actively participate in it anymore, but this was my big introduction to fandom so it will always be important to me. RusAme, due to the very flat characterization from the show, was particularly fun because it’s a very versatile ship depending on how you interpret the characters and what setting you put them in. However, for me, it boils down to more of that opposites attract but we have more in common that both of us want to admit so we just have a lot of sex and pretend that we’re not emotionally invested in one another. For this pairing, go to fanfiction.net and read pretty much everything ProcrastinatingPalindrome has written, particularly Miracles and Dumb Luck, Soldier’s Heart, and The Sassy Gay Polish Friend. Oh man, I’m getting all nostalgic!
That’s about it for now. I have a few others (Scott Ryder should have been able to romance Liam!) but these are the ones I’m still majorly hung up on an probably will be for the foreseeable future.

Tahnorra Recovery - Part Two (Visit)
Tahno decided that air temple island was all together too personal for it to be comfortable for him.
The searching gazes of acolytes roamed over him, looking for something broken to mend or something wrong to right. It was suffocating. It reminded him far too much of cold, rainy wanderings through alleys after the event while the urgent need to react to the inanimate liquid sliding over his skin rose up like a suffocating layer over his head. Eyes had drifted over him then, too. They studied him unashamed in the dull light, trying to place the sharp features that seemed so familiar—just not on this wraith wandering around in a sopping mess of all that he had lost. He had felt so confined. Tiny and hollow in a world made large by the lack of connection within it. The sickening feeling of should have gagging him and their eyes reminding him—you’re on the bottom now, kid.
He walked through the hallway, head held high, determined to ignore the feeling entirely. He wasn’t here to travel through memories he had left far behind him (but having seen her in the same corner made them so much closer).  He had dropped her off the night before without lingering long. They would have asked where he had found her and why she had been there but he was sure they all knew the answers to those questions and Tahno wasn’t needed to remind them. They hadn’t even recognized him in the orange light above the ferry dock, frenzied as they were in their relief and in making sure that she was alright.
Of course she wasn’t, but alright had become a much more relative term.
So here, making the trip in full daylight without a warm weight pressed against his back, Tahno wasn’t quite sure why he was so damned uncomfortable. Maybe it was the guarded eyes of the master trying to place him—oh yes, the probender. Of course I remember you. The words had been pointed but Tahno had just smiled, trying to appear as clean-cut and trustworthy as he possibly could. It was certainly a new experience but it must have been somewhat believable because he had been given directions to her room.
He finally reached her door and there was an overwhelming sense of anticipation that made his hand hesitate before turning the smooth knob. Eight months ago and Tahno would have flung the door open and gone straight in but ever since Avatar Korra had come to Republic City, he had been changed in more ways than one. So he stood, wondering if this was a good or bad thing, and if what he was going inside to see would hurt even more than what he had prepared for.
“Korra?”
There was a long pause and then—
“Come in.”
He let himself in before the hesitation kept in him from entering at all and there she was. Her back was turned to him and a tangle of brown hair hung down the seat of the wheelchair. An elbow was set on the arm rest to hold up her head as she stared out the window. He got the feeling that this was a frequent position.
He took a tentative step forward and a breeze blew in to rustle the gauzy curtains. She continued to stare out at the skyline of the city. He wondered if she was remembering or just staring. He knew what both felt like.
“Korra.”
The name was strange (because it had always been strangely forbidden to him) on his tongue but he was careful to avoid titles as he had been the previous night.
The head lifted and she turned over her shoulder slowly. Tired eyes widened.
“I thought I was imagining things. I mean, they never said you were the one that...”
As she faded off her eyes glazed over again, fixing on a spot above him. Tahno walked over to her bed and lowered himself down. Standing would only emphasize the height difference and he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable by kneeling.
“I didn’t stick around long enough for them to remember me. I was in and out.”
There was a pause as he waited for a reply and then remembered that she wouldn’t be as ready with sharp retorts as she had been. And that was ok. They hadn’t seen each other in months and it was a strangely comfortable silence. When Tahno thought about it, he couldn’t remember a time where they had shared this much silence. Then again, they had been very different people before all of this.
And when he left a few hours later, he found himself thinking that if they had been similar before, there was even more understanding now.

Heavy Hitters
Title: Heavy Hitters Category: Legend of Korra Author: SushiBomb/Tahnosvibrator Rating: Rated: MA/NC-17  Genre: Romance.... does smut qualify as a genre? No? Okay. A little violence too. Sorry. Chapters: 1 of 2, Words: 4,211
This is part 1 of 2, which should be up within the next few days, hopefully. Enjoy, fellow Tahnorrians!
Part of Korra, the smallest fraction of her being that she rarely ever paid attention to, had hoped that she wouldn't make a habit out of this.
In the back of her mind, she knew it was dangerous to be walking around alone at such an odd hour of the night, what with Amon and his growing army of followers casting their shadow over Republic City. But in the end, boredom and frustration always won out over logic and self-preservation and before long, the avatar found herself nearly halfway across the city, whistling idly to herself.
Her midnight strolls were becoming more and more frequent ever since Asami and her fellow fire ferrets began living with her on Air Temple Island. As much as she cared for her newfound group of friends, it was quickly becoming a necessity for Korra to find time away from them, time to spend for herself and her thoughts. More specifically, away from Mako and Asami’s frequent but -thankfully- reserved public displays of affection. Not that she wasn’t happy for them, because she was, truthfully. But still, a small part of her grew irritated with the constant sight of them, and out of that irritation, grew Korra’s need to spend more time to herself.
Being around everyone, at times, made her feel restless and restless wasn’t a feeling Korra played host to particularly well. Being around them forced her to think about her position and duties as the Avatar, and it forced her to think of the possibilities of Amon succeeding in his vendetta against Republic City and against benders as a whole. Her mind insisted on replaying countless scenarios and images of the city she had come to love as her home engulfed in flames, with the equalist flag hanging over various buildings.
The mere thought of it terrified Korra.
And once one thought popped in, the clouds of doubt and uncertainty moved in like a storm, until tears of frustration were streaming down her face and Naga was at her side, whimpering and nudging her arm fretfully. It was impossible to remember the last time she had had a full night’s rest; most of every night was spent trying to find ways not to let thoughts of the impending battles, both with Amon, as well as her own personal battles, creep into her dreams and darken them. But with each night that passed, and with each sudden jerk into consciousness, up out of her nightmare, Korra realized her efforts were all in vain.
And so, after one singularly ominous dream, Korra crawled out of bed, pulled on her coat, and left.
She had only meant to walk the perimeter of the bay and go back. And she had only meant to do it that one night. But the allure of the quiet streets immediately drew her in, and before she knew it, she was walking past city hall almost every night. The crisp chill of the midnight air gave Korra a sense of calm as she walked around, as did the sight of the city’s nocturnal citizens leaving their homes for a night on the town. They weren’t thinking about the turbulent situation the city was in. They were heading out to have a good time.  And after nearly a week, Korra found that she couldn’t resist the appeal of being amongst them. She often wandered well into the twilight hours, when even late stores and clubs were shutting down for the night.
Much like tonight.
With her hands stuffed in her pockets and a semi-indifferent look plastered on her tanned face, Korra walked along one of the empty boulevards, only sparing passing glances at the odd couple who walked by her every so often and peaking in dark store windows curiously.
Over her many midnight trips, she had become quite familiar with most of Republic City. She had developed a familiar route of travel through the city, and her body quickly memorized it. There were parts of the city she made an honest effort to avoid, naturally; namely the gang territories, as most people opted to do. It wasn’t uncommon to hear about bodies turning up in ditches, beaten and stripped.
Not that Korra had to worry about such a hazard, of course.
Bearing the weighty title of ‘Avatar’ did wonders for her ‘street cred,’ as Bolin called it. There wasn’t one member of any of the three gangs who hadn’t heard about the now infamous scrap between Avatar Korra and some bending thugs looking to exploit more of their fellow non-benders, simply because they could. But even if she hadn’t been who she was, it would’ve made no difference to her. Korra was simply the kind of girl who would sooner throw herself in the bay than run away from a fight. But out of necessity, namely, to keep Tenzin and the others from finding out about her midnight excursions, Korra made it a point to avoid those areas.
But it seemed that no matter where she wandered to, or for how long, sooner or later her feet would unconsciously move in the direction of downtown Republic City and before she knew it, she was standing on the opposite side of the street, just outside of Triple Threat Triad territory, watching a familiar face struggle to reacquaint himself with the shadow of who he used to be.
She’d stumbled upon him once or twice already, but she could never find it in herself to make the fifteen second trip across the street to talk to him. After that day in the police station, when she’d heard him call to her in that small, defeated voice and seeing him sitting there, looking so fragile that she swore he would disintegrate if she so much as touched him… after seeing him at his absolute worst, Korra wasn’t sure that they had words for each other anymore. Or at least, that was what she sometimes told herself in order to keep her feet firmly planted in the snow-covered sidewalk across the street from the gym. In truth, she was sure that the inevitable awkwardness that would accompany any prospective conversation between them would probably be one-sided; on her side, naturally.
It’d been a few weeks since that day, and thankfully, it seemed that Tahno was finally rising up out of his slump. He still didn’t look like he did when she first met him at Narook’s, all sly glances and sleazy flirting, but at least the bags under his eyes were gone and his hair was combed again. Part of her was sad to see that he hadn’t styled it into his signature wavy quasi-pompadour that only he seemed to be able to pull off, but his natural hair, simple and falling more to one side of his face, suited him just as nicely, in her opinion. It was easier to take him seriously when she saw him like this. As a person, and not as the slimy creep she had pegged him for the night they met.
Seeing him as he currently was, waterbender or no, also made her wonder why the Wolfbats ever need to resort to cheating to win their match.
From the plain grey long-sleeved shirt, soaked into a darker shade by sweat, and black training pants, coupled with the thin film of sweat coating his neck and face and dripping from his chin, Korra figured he’d been there a while. The punching bag shook with such force that Korra was shocked that it even managed to stay hanging. The ex-leader of the Wolfbats was in his own little world; the world he used to know, one with the flashing of cameras and the laughter of girls throwing themselves at him and whispering lust-filled promises in his ears. A world where he was at the top and everyone else catered to his every whim.
When he was in his natural element.
He moved with the grace and fluidity of someone who was well acquainted with the element of water, but his attitude and ferocity lended to the air of a firebender. Korra had juggled between those two long after their initial confrontation, right up until the moment he walked, no, swaggered, into the locker room, donning a blue sash that established his element in Korra’s mind.
Though he could no longer call himself a waterbender, thanks wholly to Amon, he still moved like one, and Korra found herself more impressed with him than she ever thought possible. He hadn’t lost his spirit, Korra realized with a soft smile, he’d only lost sight of it for a while. Tahno of the White Falls Wolfbats still had the heart of competitor, and the sight of him training, even at such an ungodly hour of the night, gave Korra a sliver of hope, both for him and for Republic City.
It also gave her the last little push of courage she needed to finally stop hiding in the shadows and walk across the street. She stood outside the gym window, her hands still tucked away in the pockets of her baggy water-tribe pants, little puffs of white esaping her mouth when she exhaled sharply.
The debate on whether to walk in or not only lasted a matter of seconds and naturally, logic lost yet again, as was commonplace in the mind of the stubborn young avatar. The bell chimed as she pushed the door open and walked in.
The first thing she noticed was how hot it was in the fairly spacious room, despite the frigid temperature outside. There was no air conditioning circulating, or even a fan anywhere in the room, and Korra tried to hold back a cough at the stifling feeling. Unsuccessfully, of course, and at the small sound, Tahno, who had not noticed her walk in, paused mid-swing to look over his shoulder at her.
“Korra?”
At the sound of the familiar baritone, Korra looked up awkwardly, her face tinted pink at being caught.
“Hey Tahno, uh, how’s it going?” She said with an innocent smile and wave. Tahno gave her an odd look before lowering his arm and laughing idly.
“As well as can be expected, all things considering. What the hell are you doing here, anyway? Don’t you have a curfew over on Air Temple Island?” He teased. Korra smiled earnestly at the sliver of the old Tahno creeping through. He’d lost a lot over the past few weeks, but it made her happy to see he still hadn’t lost that cocky drawl that was singularly his.
“Just couldn’t sleep, that’s all. So I went for a walk.”
Tahno let out a small chuckle. “You went for a walk all the way across town?”
Korra shrugged indignantly. “I’ve been out for awhile, okay?”
The avatar made herself comfortable against the wall and folded her arms. “Anyway, I happened to see you in here before, and now I’m wondering if maybe I’m not the only one who’s been having trouble sleeping?”
Tahno looked at her curiously. “What, you saying you’ve been watching me or something?”
Korra rubbed her arm, a small frown on her face. “This isn’t the first midnight trip of mine. I’ve had a lot on my mind as of late.”
At that, Tahno’s face faltered slightly, and the ex-waterbender looked pointedly out the window, away from her. “You’re not the only one, uh-vatar.” He said, and at the sound of the current avatar snort at the endearing little mispronunciation of her title, Tahno’s lip twitched upward. It was nice to hear her laugh. Seriousness and ‘gloom-and-doom’ didn’t fit Korra’s personality at all.
“So, you’ve been watching me then. I must say, I’d never’ve pegged you for a ‘creep in the shadows’ kind of girl.” He began teasingly, waiting for the inevitable explosion from the hot-tempered waterbender. And sure enough, the girl promptly released a flurry of inarticulate words and noises, stumbling painfully to form a response. Tahno wasn’t sure he’d ever seen so many different expressions flit across a person’s face like that before.
“I’m not!” She finally snapped after a few seconds, “I just…uh…”
“Just what, Korra?” He goaded.
“You know what, forget I said anything.” She said, her bottom lip pouted in irritation as she turned away from him in a huff.
“Relax,” Tahno drawled, “I’m just messing around. It’s nice to see a familiar face for once.”
Korra looked up at that. “What happened to your teammates? Aren’t they around?”
Tahno shook his head. The ex-waterbender knelt down to adjust one of his shin-pads, a small frown on his face. “They left town after the whole Amon thing. Ming’s up in the mountains somewhere, and Shaozu…”
Tahno paused for a moment, lips pursed in thought. “Ah yeah, I think he went down to stay with his folks back home.”
Korra pushed herself off the wall and walked towards the still kneeling wolfbat captain. She knelt down in front of him. “What about your fangirls?” She asked.
Tahno paused in re-lacing his shin-pad to look up at her.
“What fangirls?” He began with a bitter chuckle. “They don’t come around anymore. Not much in it for them now, you know?”
Korra’s lips bowed downward. “So basically, everyone ditched you.”
Tahno stood up, a tiny, lazy smirk snaking its way onto his face as he pulled the bandages on his hands tighter. “No, not at all. They’ll be back. They just need to sort themselves out, and that might take a while. So for now, it’s just me.”
Korra also made to stand up, using her hand on the ground for support when she noticed something. The padding on the floor of the gym was soaked.
“Tahno,” she began curiously as she looked up at the ex-waterbender, who had been getting ready to resume his nightly training, “How long have you been here?”
Tahno looked over his shoulder at her. “Since around ten.”
“Tonight?”
“This morning.”
Korra’s jaw dropped.“How are you still standing! You’ve been at it for almost fifteen hours, are you insane?” She shrieked which, surprisingly, earned her a snort from her former rival.
“Oh please Korra, this is nothing new to me at all. The Wolfbats always trained this rigorously. We may have cheated in the finals, but we didn’t get to be three-time champs by slacking off. I don’t see why that should change just because I don’t have my bending anymore.” He said tersely before turning and gracing his abused punching bag with a powerful kick to the left side, sending it flying nearly to the ceiling.  “Besides, I did take a break a few hours ago.” He added as an afterthought.
“It must be a lot quieter now that it’s just you here.” Korra said seriously.
“It is,” Tahno grunted out as he landed a flawless uppercut, quickly followed by a swift roundhouse kick, “But I don’t really mind it as much anymore. I don’t have to think about anything.”
“Yeah, I’m sure it’s hard work thinking and punching at the same time.” Korra said with a teasing chuckle. Tahno shot her a dirty look. “Funny.”
“Relax, pretty boy, I’m just kidding. I know what you meant. Still,” Korra began as she plopped down on the floor, just outside the boundary of the mat, “is this all you do nowadays? Hang out here and train?”
“Not like I have much else to do. I used to go down to the bay sometimes, but…well, it feels kinda alien to me now.” He said quietly.
After awhile, he noticed that Korra hadn’t said anything in response, and looked back to her questioningly. Korra was glaring so hard at the floor that Tahno was sure it would burst into flames at any moment, her lips angled downward in a sharp scowl.
Tahno sighed. “It’s not your fault, uh-vatar. Stop looking so down on yourself.”
Korra glanced up from the floor momentarily, her eyebrows still knitted together.
“He scares me, Tahno.” She whispered. Tahno tried to suppress the shudder that threatened to creep up his arm the second she spoke. He knew full well who she was talking about. He saw his face every night in his nightmares. That mask, and that hand, creeping towards him and pressing against his forehead... sometimes he swore he could still feel the heat of Amon’s finger on his head, and the feeling instantly made his stomach turn.
“Is that why you’re out wandering at one in the morning?”
Korra gave a half-hearted shrug in response. Tahno smirked softly to himself. “Doesn’t seem like a very smart thing to do, seeing as how you’re enemy number one to Amon.”
“I know.” Korra snapped suddenly. “But honestly, I don’t really feel any safer cooped up in my room.  I just really hate being on that island sometimes. Being around everyone is too much for me sometimes.”
“Oh, I see. So that’s what this is really about.” Tahno began as he walked over to a locker on the far side of the room. Korra watched him curiously. “What?”
She heard Tahno laugh. “I’d heard that after they raided the Sato mansion, everyone shacked up with you. Guess that’s not working out so well, is it?”
“That’s not true. I’m happy that everyone’s staying with me. But-” Korra paused as Tahno walked over and dropped a roll of bandages in her lap. “What’s this for?”
“For your hands, genius. That punching bag’ll wear your knuckles down to bloody stumps without protection. Now get up.”
Korra followed his instruction, though she was still looking at him oddly, still not understanding the point of what the ex-waterbender was doing.
“Tahno,-” She began before Tahno held up a hand to silence her.
“Come on Korra, give me a little credit. You’re obviously doing the same thing as me. You’re wandering around looking for a distraction, and right now,  I’m offering you one. You don’t have to think about Amon, or protecting the city, or your friends, or anything. Give yourself a break for awhile.” He said as walked over with a soft smirk and took the roll of bandages out of her slack grip and tucked it under his arm. Taking one of her hands in his other hand, Tahno quickly busied himself with removing her arm cuffs, leaving her arms bare from the elbow down. Korra stared at him suspiciously as he took the roll from underneath his arm and tugging the bandage loose with his teeth, began casually wrapping her hand for her.
Feeling her eyes on him, he looked up. “What? My offer for those private lessons still stands, you know.” He purred teasingly as he finished her hand and moved up to her wrist.
The two stood in silence for a moment, Tahno wrapping her wrist with surprising tenderness, and Korra watching him work in silence. After a minute, Tahno let her hand go. “Flex your hand.”He instructed, and Korra followed suit, opening and closing her fist.
“How does it feel?”
Korra nodded in approval. “Fine. A little tight, but not too bad.”
“That’s how it’s supposed to be.” Tahno said as he motioned for her other hand. She lifted it wordlessly, and a few minutes later, it was wrapped just as tightly as its twin. She stared at him hesitantly.
“Are you sure about this?”
“What’s to not be sure about, Korra?” He said with a low chuckle as he grabbed her lightly by the waist and pushed her towards the heavy bag of sand. “Trust me,” She heard him say from behind her, “After an hour or so, you will feel so much better.”
She knew he was talking about the punching bag, of course, but Korra couldn’t help but notice the way the sudden drop in his voice as he spoke in her ear made it sound like he was talking about something far less innocent. Which, Korra decided as she steeled herself in preparation to swing, he probably was, as Tahno was just the kind of guy whose every utterance had some sort of double meaning to it.
That and the fact that not only had he not let her go, but his grip on her waist actually tightened slightly as he spoke.
“You can let go now.” She said tightly, fidgeting out of his grip.
“Oh, pardon me.” He droned nonchalantly as he backed away. Even through the thick material of her coat, Korra could feel his fingers trace the curve of her waist to her back as he pulled away.
“Well? Go ahead.” He said once he was far enough.
Korra tightened her core and swung her left fist, quickly followed by the right. Surprisingly, the punching wasn’t as hard as it looked, and it swung side-to-side with each punch, jab, and kick she attacked it with.
“I must say, for a pro-athlete, your form is pretty bad.” Tahno said suddenly, successfully interrupting the steady rhythm Korra had just gotten going.
“What!” She snapped as she whirled on him. “My ‘form’ is just fine, bub.”
Tahno shook his head as he walked over. “I beg to differ, sweetheart. Frankly, you’re all over the place.”
He swiftly turned her around. “First of all, your legs are too far apart. You’re punching a bag, not trying to move a mountain.” Once again, Korra found her personal space being shamelessly invaded by the ex-waterbender as he came up behind her and pressed his body flush against hers.
She felt Tahno’s hands run down her arms and lift them up, positioning them into a fighting stance, his own longer arms pressed against hers in the same position.
“…Tahno,” She hissed, “Is this necessary?”
“No, not really.”He said bluntly. “But I find that it’s much less trying on my patience to just show someone how to do something, rather than explain it to them. Oh, and one more thing,” He began as he slid a hand down to her hip, “Tuck in your spine or you’re going to hurt you back.”
Korra rolled her eyes. “How the heck do you tuck in your spine?”
“Like this.” Tahno said as he forcibly angled her pelvis, forcing her lower back to arch against his stomach. Korra grunted softly at the feeling of his fingers pressing sharply into the soft flesh of her lower hip. A grunt that, unsurprisingly, did not go unnoticed by her dirty-minded former rival.
“Oh my, was that our innocent little avatar who just made that sound?” He murmured huskily from behind her. Korra turned back to glare at him heatedly, her face a solid shade of red.
“It wasn’t like that at all, you sleaze! That hurt!” She screamed as she elbowed him away. “My form is fine. Stop trying to make excuses to feel me up!”
Tahno gave her a look of mock-hurt, completely sliding back into the Tahno she met at the noodle shop. Korra was unsure of whether she should’ve been impressed that Tahno could turn the ‘charm’ on at the snap of a finger.
“Aw I’m hurt, uh-vatar.” He drawled teasingly, “I’m not that low. I wasn’t lying, your form is actually pretty bad. Wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself. Although, I will admit,” He said with a low chuckle as he sized her up appreciatively, “your body feels pretty damn nice.”
Korra growled as she stomped away from the punching bag, her face a whole shade of red darker than before, and right up to the smirking ex-waterbender. His smirk grew at the familiarity of the scene; him taunting her and her defiantly challenging him back, her lips puckered in that pout that had become her signature.
“You’re really asking for it.” She seethed.
“Am I?” He teased.
To his surprise –and pleasure- Korra lips curled into a smirk nearly identical to his. “You know,” She began, “suddenly I think I’ve found something better than that punching bag.”
Tahno’s grin widened ferally. “I don’t know Korra,” he said languidly, scratching at his chin, “A one-on-one fight with you doesn’t seem very fair to me.”
Korra folded her arms across her chest haughtily. “I won’t use my bending. Doubt I’ll need it anyway.”
Despite the low blow Korra dealt him, Tahno laughed. “You won’t be so confident once we’ve gone a few rounds, believe me. Unlike your loser teammates, I don’t play clean. Or gentle.” He said as he pulled off his sweat-soaked shirt, revealing the black muscle top underneath.
“By the way, you might want to take that coat off.  Don’t want you to get too sweaty.”
Korra gave him an arrogant smirk of her own as she wordlessly followed his advice, taking her sweet time peeling the fitted overcoat up over her head. Korra smiled to herself when she heard the low hiss of appreciation from her former rival, though he couldn’t see it since she was pulling the coat over her head.
“Ready?” He droned with a mocking smile as he took his stance. Korra smiled challengingly in response, tossing her coat to the side befor taking her own stance, noting the adjustments Tahno had made for her. Just to show him that she was paying attention to him, despite his lecherous intentions.
“Bring it, pretty boy.”
Tahno’s lips curled  hedonistically. “Oh, with pleasure.”
And then he was a blur.

Tahnorra because awwww yiss baby.
Tumblr media
Really having fun belting out these doodles. This time we have Tahno and Korra, because Tahnorra is fucking hot and because I said so.
If you like Tahnorra, please check out my Tahnorra story on AO3, Lessons.
TAHNORRA.
TAHNORRA.
TAHNORRA.
and yes he's grabbing her boob. Was trying to draw a loving embrace from behind and ... looks like a boob grab. But that's ok because they're an established couple and it feels good.
Tahno is meant to be saying 'Uh-vatar' but I did not realize the dialogue was cut off until after I had tossed the drawing. C'est la vie.

Lessons
After what seems like almost forever, I finally updated my Tahnorra story, 'Lessons'. I also have the next two chapters written, just need to be edited. My muse was in an amazingly generous mood laely! I also have a Ming Hua/Ghazan story now in the works. Link and snippet for Lessons under the cut. Overall story is NSFW/18+ for smex between Tahno and Korra.
Tumblr media
“But you’re so much fun to ogle at,” she teased before she moved into the deeper water. He smirked coolly at that and waded in, letting out a small grunt when she splashed him. He made a mock angry expression before splashing her back, and she dived under the surface and he yelped when he felt her hands around his ankles before he was pulled below the surface.
He retaliated by pouncing at her – as much as one could in water – and she allowed herself to be caught before he tickled her, quickly pushing away from her before she could retaliate. However, he allowed himself to be caught, and it turned into something between a game of tag and horseplay. Losing himself in these carefree moments allowed him to forget his worries.
He suddenly stopped and grabbed her around her middle, spinning her around as he placed a messy, playful kiss on the back of her neck, blowing a raspberry against her skin as he did so and tasting the salt of the water. He heard her laugh before she broke free of his embrace, and he resisted a bit before letting her go. She turned around to see him wiggle his butt at her before he dove down.
The Avatar went after him, and this time she used a touch of her Bending to close in on him quickly, grabbing his ankle and tickling his foot.
Tahno broke the surface of the water with a sputter, and Korra's head appeared before him. It was tempting to just stay here forever, he mused. If he could capture a moment in time and live in it forever, any of the number of moments he'd shared with Korra today would be contenders for the spot.

Your writing is what made me try cafe mochas, which are now my go-to coffee beverage when I need a pick me.
i am going to assume that you have been around since the start of the tahnorra days, in which case i think it is also safe to assume that you know HOW GREATLY THIS KNOWLEDGE PLEASES ME.
THANK YOU, KIND AND BEAUTIFUL CAFFEINATED ANON. ♥♥♥ the fact that there are so many people out there who share my favorite coffee, however common it is---and especially because of my fanfiction---is so incredibly heart-warming.

21 and 22
#21. favorite thing you’ve ever created for a ship?
oh, wow. 😱 if we’re not talking fanfiction, because that’s too hard to choose (😭😭😭😭😭😭😭), then i also loved my little haphazard tahnorra psuedo-manifesto, which was really just thrown together, but made me so happyyy ♡
#22. is there a ship you’ll never admit you have?
i doubt it!! if i ship something, i’m pretty open about it, even if i don’t create content for the fandom/pairing. some ships are definitely consumed and appreciated with a heavy grain of salt, though!

Coffee, Gunpowder, and Nowhere
When Tahno stumbled into the cheap café in the middle of god forsaken nowhere, he was not in the mood to be trifled with. It had been a hell of a weekend at his rugby tournament. He had enough bruises to make him nervous about the accumulation of internal bleeding, joint pains that would rival those of the most elderly, and a bruised nose (he swore to god that it was flatter than before that fist made contact) that was slowly coloring his already heavily bagged eyes a dark hue of purple. Ming had snickered and asked if he’d forgotten where to put his eye shadow. Ming got a black eye, too.
Basically, Tahno was in the mood for no bullshit. He wanted his caffeine in .009 seconds or he’d combust and he’d take this pathetic little establishment with him.  He looked around, searching for any potential threats. Hey, he’d spent the last forty-eight hours being pummeled, tackled, punched, kicked, and even bitten by other seventeen year old boys. Sue him for being paranoid.
It was a tacky little place covered in cheap looking paintings of deer and bears. It smelled like coffee and gunpowder, probably from the middle aged hunters that were the only people absurd enough to venture out here. There was a worn counter across the room where a girl his age sat. Her skin was tan against her grey workout gear and a curly brown ponytail hung off the side of one of her hunched shoulders. She was scrawling what must have been answers into a notebook next to a giant textbook.
“Hello,” Tahno called irritably, walking further into the café. “I’d like to make an order."
The girl’s eyes flicked up and he was surprised at how vividly blue they were. They narrowed, looking him up and down, lingering on what he sure was his very red nose and mauve eyes. A hint of a smile tugged at one corner of her lips and Tahno suppressed a hiss of indignation. He was not in the mood. He wanted his coffee and he wanted out.
“What can I get you,” she asked, leaning back from her stool. Her voice was falsely bright and did not agree with Tahno’s ears this early.
He made a point of giving her a dirty look before curtly saying, “Venti, Non-Fat, no Foam, no water, 6 pump, extra hot, chai tea latte.”
She blinked long and slow several times, her mouth drifting open a bit. “You want a what?”
“I just told you,” he snapped, shifting his weight in frustration. If he stood in this stinking café another instant he’d inhale enough gunpowder to make him an explosive. “Were you not listening, or are you just slow?”
The girl raised her eyebrows high, giving him another once over. “Oh no, I heard you. I’m just wondering what the hell a venti, non-fat, no foam-“
“Is this not a coffee place,” Tahno interrupted taking a step closer to the counter and pointing at a rusty looking coffee maker to the right of her.
“Yeah, but I sure didn’t hear you say coffee."
Tahno threw his hands up to the sky as she rested an arm on the counter, propping her chin up to watch his temper tantrum. “Is it not implied that coffee places serve lattes,” he said, gritting each word out like the dirt he’d had to cough up all weekend.
The girl snickered and Tahno felt his eye twitch. “First of all, does this look like a Starbucks to you? We don’t have a venti anything. Either you want a Starbucks or you’re a confused bilingual. Second of all, six pumps of what? Thirdly, how am I even supposed to make anything without water. And-“
She stopped as Tahno began to advance and she snatched up a mug from underneath the counter, holding it back to throw like a baseball. “Don’t even think about-“
He ignored her, veering away from her to walk around the counter. He crouched down to examine the shelves below, ignoring her protests. There were lots of stained and chipped mugs that looked old enough to be put in some civil war museum. What looked like shotgun shells were scattered about in between them, glinting in the dull light of the ceiling lamp. He straightened and turned to the counter behind them. There were a few plastic containers of muddy looking coffee grounds, a blender that looked dusty enough to put in a haunted house, the rusty looking coffee maker, a box of lipton black tea, and a refrigerator that he was sure contained something utterly ridiculous like bear stew. There was also a grimy stove that made him want to shudder.
Suddenly very tired, he groaned and leaned back against the counter. “What did I do to deserve this,” he moaned out, his hands trying to massage his scalp through his hair gel.
The noise that he realized had been the girl hissing at him stopped and he watched as she moved to the front of him, her eyebrows knitting in concern. “Hey, you ok, buddy?”
Tahno’s eyes narrowed with a vengeance. “I. am. not. your. Buddy. Go back to your little stool and mind your own damn business and reconsider who you decide to christen with a golden retriever name.”
The girl scoffed, her gaze becoming heated. “At least I don’t look like I just got run over by a truck and sprayed with some kind of hair gel hose.” She stomped a few feet away, back to her stool. “By the way,” she snapped, as she aggressively realigned her notebook, “Your eyeliner is smudged.”
For a few moments, the only sound was the angry scratching of her pencil across paper, punctuated by the slam of what he was sure were very bold periods. He just didn’t have it in him to fight back. His head hurt, his nose hurt, his arms hurt, his legs hurt, hell, he wondered if there was a part of him that didn’t hurt. He let himself slide down the counter till he was sitting on the floor and looked up at the girl, absently watching as she huffed hair out of her eyes and pursed her lips.
“What are you working on," he asked before he could stop himself.
Her eyes flicked down to him, and he stared back up, shamelessly cocking an eyebrow. She flushed and bit out, “A research paper on oxidative phosphorylation.”
Surprisingly, he knew what that was. “You’re in AP Bio?” Her eyes went back to her paper and she nodded, obviously determined to ignore him. “Are you as good at it as you are at making shitty coffee?”
“Listen,” she snapped, looking down at him. “I don’t know what hell hole you crawled out of or what your problem is, but I don’t have time for twenty questions. Until you order some of my shitty coffee, you can shut up.” She turned back to her homework and Tahno let out a long, low whistle.
“You’re a wild one, aren’t you,” he said with relish. She began to radiate waves of fury. “It’s fine. Makes you less generic.” Her eyelid began to twitch. Nothing made Tahno feel better about bad mornings than pissing someone off and this girl was just making it too easy. “There’s something wrong with your eye, Forest Girl-“
“Shut. Up.”
“Make me.”
She looked down at him again and let out an unladylike snort. “Was that supposed to be seductive?"
Her eyes twinkled and without thinking he suggestively replied, “Maybe.”  He let the word stretch out into the dusty air and she tossed her ponytail over her shoulder.
She went back to her paper, the hint of a grin on her face. “Keep trying, Punk."
“I will,” he drawled, settling further back into the hard wood that pressed up against his back. “So you want to be a scientist?”
“Something like that,” she muttered.
“Me too,” he replied airily. “I’ve got it all planned. I’ll major in organic chemistry. Get my PhD and buy myself a lab. You got a plan, Forest Girl?”
She chuckled, crossing something out on her paper. “For someone who throws a temper tantrum when they don’t get their nine dollar latte, you sure have detailed goals.”
“I don’t settle.”
“Neither do I,” she quipped, allowing herself a little grin before shooting him a glare. “This doesn’t mean I forgive you for being a first class asshole.”
He raised his eyebrows and said in mock confusion, “Why, I don’t remember asking for your forgiveness.”
The girl leapt from her seat in an instant, snatching up the mug as she went. Tahno’s rugby instincts kicked in and he was rolling away from her across the bumpy wood floor, swearing as he went. “You’ll be begging for my forgiveness when I’m done with you,” she yelled, glaring at him as he continued to barrel roll his way to the door.
The door opened and all the action in the room stopped. Tahno stopped his journey mid-roll, groaning as his bruises began to smart. The girl froze, one foot on the seat of a chair, poised to leap on to a table in pursuit of Tahno. Ming stood at the door in his sweats with his Wolfbats Rugby t-shirt on backwards. His hair was rumpled and his eyes were open wide at the scene before him. A slow grin split his face and his eyes sparked, “Now who is begging for what now, Tah-“
“Shut up,” Tahno snapped gruffly, trying to push himself to his feet in the most dignified way possible.  The girl’s leg (Tahno realized it was a very nice leg, indeed) slowly moved back down to solid ground.
“Great,” she grumped, marching back behind the counter. “Another one.”
“Sweetheart, I’m an original,” Tahno called from the ground as he gave up and lay back down. Tahno knew how to choose his battles. He heard her incredulous laugh and Ming’s snicker and sneezed up dust and gunpowder.
“Could we have fifteen coffees please,” Ming said. Tahno listened as Ming’s footsteps made their way to the counter. “We’ve got a full team in the van. Our coach is just getting directions to get back on the highway.”
The girl said something and Tahno groaned as his shoulder, which he’d thought was ok after he’d iced it, began to pulse. “He been giving you any trouble,” Ming asked in a mischievous voice. Tahno could practically feel the cheesy eyebrow wiggle from the ground.
The girl said something again and Ming began to laugh, far too loud for Tahno’s head ache. Tahno reached up and grabbed the knobby arm of a wooden chair and yanked himself up to a sitting position before slowly inching himself up to a crouch. He pushed up and groaned again as his bones popped into place and his muscles protested. He sauntered as well as his muscles allowed him to the front counter and leaned against it. “I’m nothing but trouble, Sweetheart,” Tahno purred, staring into her narrowed cerulean eyes. She slammed a lid onto a coffee cup and shoved it into his chest where it sloshed onto his shirt.
“Enjoy, you little piece of-“
“Time to go, Tahno,” Ming said hurriedly as he snatched the tray of coffees that had been laid out. Tahno’s challenging smirk and the girl’s blazing glare didn’t waver. “I think we’ve outstayed our welcome,” Ming continued, latching onto Tahno’s arm and yanking him away from the counter.
“Bye, Forest Girl,” Tahno called out as he was hauled through the maze of tables.
“Get lost,” she yelled after him, fire blazing in her eyes and her voice.
The door swung shut behind them with the tinkle of cheap bells and Ming began to cackle. “Leave it to Tahno the wolf to find the only hot girl in the whole county. We should get lost in the wilderness more often.”
Tahno rolled his eyes, but he wasn’t thinking about her nice legs (that he hadn’t noticed at all from his seat on the floor), or her pretty eyes. No, he was thinking about that challenge in her voice and the scrap of paper with his number that he had left on the counter. He’d never met a girl who tried to throw coffee mugs at him or one that had ever told him off. He was curious.

I think I realized why I have such trouble reading Tahnorra fanfiction.
I'll try to be as clear as possible, but forgive me if this is jumbled; I feel like I'm still formulating my thoughts. You should feel free to share your own opinions, but please keep this in mind.
I think I realized why I have such trouble reading Tahnorra fanfiction.
An imbalance of power.
I can't say this is the case for all of Tahnorra fic, or even most. (I wouldn't have read enough to know.) But I can say that for the few fics I have attempted, one of the deal-breakers that usually gets me almost immediately is the portrayal of Tahno or Korra as inherently weaker than the other.
And I'm not going to go into the "well, she's the Avatar, so technically--" because who I'm referring to is Korra, the person, the character; she is obviously very heavily influenced by her role as the Avatar, yes, but that is not all she is, and I will leave it at that. These musings have nothing to do with each character's status; what I'm thinking of has more to do with the portrayal of each character's inner strengths.
But back to an imbalance of power. For a time, and for the sake of a story's development, I can appreciate a temporary imbalance of power in the Tahnorra dynamic (say, for example, when Korra first finds Tahno on the bench at the station)--at least, of course, when it's being used to demonstrate--over time--the fact that, underneath it all, truly, they really are equal. Even if, sometimes, they don't entirely realize it yet themselves.
Let me explain: one of the things I like most about the Tahnorra interactions is that these characters are continually trying to catch the other off-guard. It's not just about one-upping the other, although that power play certainly is fun; to me, their dynamic is about slowly revealing to the audience that what was once thought to be a weakness might be actually a strength, and what was once thought to be a strength can become an ultimate weakness. They both hide their inner-feelings with bravado, they cover their insecurities with arrogance, and they claw and they snark and they both like to fight dirty. For all their differences, in many ways, they are very, very alike, but ultimately, their flaws and their strengths struggle to balance themselves, and in turn, they end up balancing each other. One of the main reasons why I like Tahnorra so much is because of the potential for them to grow. Together.
You know what my favorite non-Korra and non-Tahno line is in the entire series? It's the announcer's comment during the final Championship game. Do you remember what he says?
He says that they are evenly matched. Those two words have stuck with me just as firmly as "you and me, pretty boy" or "go for it."
They are evenly matched.
I really hope to see more Tahnorra fic in the future and I would really love to see this concept explored more deeply. I am so drawn to the potential these two have, probably more so than the (canon) characters they are now, as their current end-of-Book-One selves, and I really hope that this fandom finds creative ways to capture this and all of the struggles therein.
