On the one-sided harringrove post- I feel it becomes infinitely funnier with bi steve. He likes men, just not Billy. Never Billy.

Oh yeah. When Billy fiiiirst comes to school with his music blaring Steve is head over heels for Nancy, so he might register that the guy with the Camaro and loud music has a good ass, but then billy opens his mouth and Steve is like "oh, no ass can make up for that personality." And continues with his life.

Just. Okay I like to project just a liiiiittle on Steve with him just. Not realizing his attraction to men isn't a straight thing. Like. Of course all straight people feel that way, you just kinda ignore it or don't do anything about it. So Steve is half way between being comfortable in his sexuality and being closeted to himself because buddy used Hawkeye Pierce as the blueprint of straightness.

So Billy is out here, wallowing in self hatred and internalized homophobia, hating Steve and wanting Steve and hating that he wants Steve and wishing Steve would pay attention to him enough for a hate fuck he can cry about later, and it's all very angsty. All the while Steve is just actually completely fine with thinking a dude is hot he's just got standards that include "not racist" "doesn't try to beat up kids" "hasn't made me blackout from head trauma"

Wait. Oh no. I feel an au coming on. Shit. Au where post S2 Robin hears piano coming from the band room after hours and is her curious self going "I must see who is this mysterious genius" and it's Steve. They get to talking and hanging out and all of a sudden Robin thinks they are actually good friends. Best friends. Somehow.

Cue them going to a band party together. Someone spikes their drinks with waayyyy more than they were expecting so they are blasted. Robin has to go pee but does not want to go alone so she drags Steve into the bathroom with her and makes him face away. He's like haha Woah you really had to pee. And she goes shut upppp and washes her hands but sits across from him. Steve smiles at her and gives her his speech about how amazing she is and how glad he is to be her friend (it is like March '85 so he is still not ready to get back out into dating yet). Robin tells him about Tammy. They sing. Someone slams the door open and kicks them out of the bathroom because there's a fuckin line.

They lay on the grass outside and look at the sky. Steve like. Caaaaasually mentions once having thought he was gonna marry Tommy when he was six and then realizing you just didn't do anything about those feelings and Robin's gotta shoot up going WHAT!! WHAAAT? Because it sounded like Steve coming out to her? Right after?? She came out to him??

And Steve is like yeah. Like you don't really have to? Easier to ignore it and flirt with girls who I like or think are hot. And poor Robin's brain is melting she's like please Steve I'm really drunk are you telling me you sometimes want to kiss boys? And he's like yes, obviously, everyone does. Just like everyone also wants to sometimes kiss girls. Except lesbians I guess who only want to kiss girls? And gay guys only want to kiss guy? Yeah that makes sense and straight people don't care but go for the opposite ya know?

Robin is like NO!! And calms down some and says "okay I'm telling you this because you are my friend and you just told me almost the same thing. Steve. I like girls and only like girls. That not a straight thing"

"yeah. You've said."

"but I am ninety nine percent positive that just because you like girls doesn't mean you're straight because you also like boys."

ANYWAYS THE ACTUAL POINT OF THIS is not in fact the stobin. It's actually that

Sometime probably in may, when Steve is ready to be on the dating scene again, he gets with Eddie. Robin is happy for him but also so mad because he went from "probably shouldn't act gay even tho everyone feels a little gay sometimes" to "hey Robin what would you say if I said I got a boyfriend?" In less than two months. How does he have straight AND gay game. That's not fair.

Steddie getting together is a non event. Eddie is still like ewww sports and yet somehow he made out with Steve Harrington and the next day Steve asked if he wanted to get milkshakes and throw rocks into the quarry to see the splashes. Eddie must restrain himself from thinking it's a date because he knows it's not but it'd also be the perfect date (Eddie is a simple man)

At the end of the night steve kissed his cheek and says "I had a really great time..."

Eddie just blurted "hey do you want to be my boyfriend?"

To which Steve perks up like "yes! I'd like that!"

And Eddie didn't actually think he'd get that far so he was like "neat!! See you tomorrow!" before slamming the door in Steve's face.

So they're dating and Eddie disparages sports but Steve is like haha aw you don't like watching me play? Which is sooo mean to Eddie because obviously?? He likes?? Watching his boyfriend??? Run around in tiny shorts and sometimes shirtless?? He has to reevaluate some things he supposes.

All while this is happening Billy is still on his Greatest Homoerotic Rivals shtick with Steve. Eddie notices and is like to dude...what is with Billy? And Steve just sighs. Says Billy is weird and obsessed with him and glares all the time. It's a whole thing. Billy is pissed because what is Steve, his epic rival, doing hanging around some random band geek, his sister's bitchass friends, and maybe the local dealer.

Alright. Grad happens. Yay Steve! Poor Eddie. They go to some party , hang out with people, sell some drugs, etc. Billy is unfortunately also at this party, and is like. Lazer eyes boring into Steve's back. Very annoying. At some point, he sees Steve slip away and is like this is my chance so he follows him.

Howmever he comes across Steve, his epic and totally heterosexual rival, making out with Eddie the freak Munson.

And listen this is a scary thing to be caught inna town like Hawkins, but that's not the point of this post.

So Billy goes "what the hell?"

They turn around. Billy is still spluttering.

"what are you-why would you-- with him?!" He says.

Steve raises his eyebrows, alllll cocky confidence. He smirks a bit. Drawls. "Well, yeah. I like cock, billy. Just not yours."

Because the point of this post is that Steve is a bitch.

Woop woop, here is another snippet from — you guessed it — the mudslide fic. Because I need to keep my head in the game and focus. We are so close people, so close. 🥹

(edit: my focus has been blown to smithereens thanks to seeing Oliver's pretty tits face again and now I'll be a stuttering mess for the rest of the night cuz hoo boy. 😮‍💨 Also, getting to see Kenny twice a day?? Two days in a row?? And giving us Peter content too?? Bless his heart, I'm so glad he's back on social media for real. 🫶)

“You know you don’t have to do that, right?” Eddie walked into the kitchen, shaking his head fondly — if it was for Buck’s benefit or because he just checked on Christopher, he couldn’t tell.

“Mmm?” Buck only turned away from the chopping board long enough to take Eddie in, before continuing to dice the spring onions he had lined up on the counter.

“This. The whole,” Eddie waved an arm around vaguely as he made his way over to the fridge, “cleaning, cooking and homework duty. You don’t have to do any of it. You’re always welcome here, you don’t have to… I don’t know, earn your keep or whatever.”

“I know.” Buck shrugged absentmindedly, his brain already stuck on the ‘always welcome’ part. “I want to.”

“Yeah,” Eddie sighed as he opened the fridge and pulled out two beers, lifting them questioningly towards Buck and only closing the fridge door after he got a nod of affirmation.

“Besides, I don’t have to earn my keep, I don’t actually live here.” Buck pointed at Eddie with an onion green cockily, before putting it onto the board beside the rest.

“No? Coulda’ fooled me.” Eddie shook his head, his face slightly angled away from Buck, but he caught the tail end of Eddie’s smile anyway. “By the way, after dinner we’re watching the movie with the dragons. Again.”

Buck snorted at the disdain in Eddie’s voice, as he swept all the chopped up veggies into a mixing bowl, while Eddie opened both beers and sat down at the kitchen table.

“Hey, I don’t think we’ve watched it in like... two weeks. Besides,” Buck shrugged with a smile, “it’s kinda cute.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Eddie sighed with the kind of exasperation that only a dad who’s seen the same cartoon for a gazillion times with the running commentary provided by a pre-teen could feel, but Buck knew better.

Eddie would watch one movie for the rest of his life over and over again if it’d make Christopher happy — he knew, because he felt the exact same way.

okay so i don’t WANT a locked tomb au for the owl house, but hoo boy does my brain try to lump all my most recent fixations together. so, a few details

1. hunter and belos are from the eighth house. you know, the one that sucks the life force out of cavaliers just cuz. you’ll never guess who’s the cavalier here.

2. lilith is one of the first lyctors. her cav killed herself so that lilith would HAVE to ascend, and while it eats lilith up inside, she knows it was for the best. (all of the rest of the necros have gone through with it and ascended now). except, of course, eda. who’s still clutching raine’s living hand like a lifeline, and who lilith has heard whispering about... packing up with raine and fleeing the houses entirely.

so lilith kills raine, and offers eda the choice to either lose them entirely or ascend. and it’s.... it’s fucking awful. but what other choice is there now? there’s just ways to numb the pain and to try to cling to the sister that she loves so dearly, even after everything that lily did to her.

3. gus is the necro from the fourth, which is why he and mattholomule are so incomprehensibly young. neither of them were really supposed to be there. gus had older cousins; his dad wasn’t even in charge of the fourth until he was five or so! but his dad’s older siblings died and then his cousins died and suddenly, gus is the necromatic heir and he’s not a kid anymore he’s a necro with a cav and battle experience and he doesn’t know how to deal with any of it. matt’s older brother, steve, was the cav to gus’s last older, necromatic cousin.

it’s supposed to be an honor, serving with the heir to the house, but with how many of them have dropped dead in the past year, it’s hard for matty to think of it as anything but a death sentence. (steve thought he’d be the first cav of this generation to see an heir through to proper adulthood... but he wasn’t. he barely saw matt through cav training before he was blown up trying to protect the necro that didn’t make it out anyway)

but gus is... nice. and they share the same interests, and he isn’t mean to matt about not being tough or strong or old enough. gus keeps promising him that he’s not going to get treated like bria, the absolutely AWFUL necro he trained with before gus came of age and they met up and meshed instead.

and they both uphold that as well as they can as thirteen year old boys. but they’re still a necro and cav, and that dynamic is doomed from the start.

4. ed and em are coronabeth and ianthe from the third. they are the richest and most influential house. ed isn’t a necromancer, just like coronabeth. amity is the younger, cavless necro sister who their mother forces to tag along because “the emperor requested our heir and our cavalier primary! there’s NO reason that amity couldn’t learn a thing or two to bring back, directly, to the third house. right, amity dear?”

amity is tired of living in her siblings’ shadows and is going to learn what she can and sabotage them.

5. willow is something approximating ACTUAL dulcinea from the seventh house, and in true seventh fashion, she’s dying. she’s been dying since she was born, basically. she’s very strong but tries to restrain herself from overuse of her powers to preserve her own life and that of others. she thinks that thalergy is a better source than thanergy and is running experiments to see if she positively affect plants.

boscha is her cav because boscha is The Best In Their Age Cohort TM but they do not, on any level, get along. boscha thinks that she’s weak and that she can bully willow into being a “better” necro or at least just fucking dying already. it’s... ugly. willow has the social power in the relationship and is VERY powerful at necromancy, but with her kind disposition and lack of inclination to use those powers... oof.

6. luz isn’t a necro, and she isn’t a cav... she’s a dav’s caughter when her mom gets called away with her necro, the current master warden of the sixth house.

“luz, this is my job.”

“but you could get hurt!”

her mother sighs. “which is my job, mija.”

“you’re a sixth cav!” luz protests, “you weren’t even supposed to see combat! ever!” camilla noceda learned everything that she possibly could so that she could fight her way into the program and offered Outside Knowledge TM to the scholars, which combined with her abilities and ties to the warden are the only things keeping her position stable.

(luz’s mother hates that she’s taken it up as well, but she can’t really blame her. luz is SO clever and so creative, but so much of the sixth house is dedicated to the parts of academia that are difficult for her. maintaining her position requires something like this... which doesn’t make it less painful to her mother.)

“you can’t leave me here,” luz begs. her mother is the only person who has ever been kind to her. as a teenage refugee from the world outside the houses, THIS camilla was basically only able to get clearance to stay by becoming a cavalier. and she did, but luz is strange and impulsive and silly and only HALF house, and it makes it so that even though her life should be easier than her mother’s... it isn’t.

so luz stows away on the ship to try to protect her mom from Whatever the Fuck Lyctorhood Looks Like, and if not at least go to live with her. the emperor is in charge of everything. he can make some room for a lyctor’s DAUGHTER

her mother doesn’t find out about her stowing away until they’re already at caanan house, and by that point, it’s too late to send someone back.

her mother tries to misdirect her and keep her out of whatever’s happening, luz ends up doing research with a group of friends who come very close to lyctorhood... and figuring out that it’s not something anyone... ANYONE... should actually want.

the gang who decide LyctorHood Is Bad DON’T DO IT PLEASE: hunter who would like not to get literally eaten on top of the things that his uncle already puts him through, willow who thinks that’s an awful thing to do to a person and has never wanted the relationship she has to have with bosha, amity who at this point is more invested in making sure that her siblings don’t Become Saints more than any issue of morality, luz who is doing her research and trying to talk her mom into Not Doing That WHAT THE FUCK, and then gus and matt who are thirteen and just don’t want to die, dear god.

willow and hunter keep sneaking away from their partners who keep trying to Do More Of This Nonsense and then end up... accidentally doing More Of This Nonsense. but like. together and consensually. (hunter: i’m already a battery! i don’t mind being one for you instead <3 willow: oh god oh no oh SHIT)

luz and amity Accidentally a cavnecro bond, but they refuse to do any of the tests because luz has seen how much it’s been taking out of her mom and amity wants to beat her siblings, but god she’s not THAT desperate. she kinda likes this perky little swordwielding weirdo, and they both have a very specific fantasy series of books that they like in addition to studying necrocav things. (yes, there is a good witch azura in the nine houses. because i say so!)

the people cytherea kills: both of the early twenties girls from the second, em’s cav from third, matt while he and gus are separated, the real grownups from the fifth, camilla and the warden from the sixth (rip but this is not a story with parents). cytherea and her cav stand ins are from the ninth here. I PRAY THE TOMB STAYS LOCKED FOREVER BITCH (i had my fingers crossed)

when we get to the end and know what’s going on, kinda, we get one full lyctor. this combo comes from... belos and boscha. they each realized their partner was avoiding them to work together. and NEITHER of them were giving up on this dream. so. uh. in the end belos kills boscha for lyctorhood and to join cytherea’s Whatever She Was Doing. and boscha was happier with that solution than she EVER was with willow’s “please stop trying to die for me”.

with em’s cav dead already, even if she wanted to go full ianthe, she couldn’t.... except ed offers, and em goes WHAT THE FUCK and then. they do not do that. (hunter does though. he throws himself on a sword to give his life force to willow full griddlehark style).

willow ends up lobotomizing herself enough to keep hunter from getting destroyed, but it puts her at a serious disadvantage. while she doesn’t owe belos any favors because he didn’t help, he still hates her for “stealing” hunter and also completing his feat and diluting the credit that he gets and the attention.

while belos and willow are carted off by OG lyctors and jod himself, the rest of the gang are captured by the blood of eden. ed decides to do a corona and join up, as is his right as the non-necromatic twin forced to pretend about it. gus isn’t either old enough or patriotic enough to be judith deuteros wholesale, but he IS a deeply powerful necromancer who’s traumatized by the loss of his cav, his new friends, imprisonment and *gestures to everything*. plus, his mind, necromancy, and maybe a resurrection beast are all attacking him. so. that’s FUN

luz and amity at least get off easier than cam and pal do in canon because they are in their own bodies and luz doesn’t have to go on a Skull Hunt TM, but it’s still not great for them being POWs.

while ed is mainly Being Corona, he isn’t fully on that side. he’s continuing to play along that amity is a fellow cav and that em and gus are the only necromancers that the blood of eden has in its possession. they want a LYCTOR to study, but they aren’t getting one.

7. not entirely sure how it would work because this is a half-baked textpost au but i feel like the collector as jod, a more feral and hurting version of king as alecto and bby normal king as nona would work... very very well. ESPECIALLY with lumity in their own bodies and raine! in eda’s body baby sitting a very confused little king... in willow park’s body.

literally not gonna tag this but this for my mutuals who understand me completely and don’t mind me being brutally honest about lwd. my condolences to anyone injured.

i like the intention behind mariner’s self-destructive tendencies, they really built it up super well over the course of several seasons, and then they fucked the landing so bad i feel offended for the poor woman.

like wow holy shit. they turned her backstory into another fucking reference. oh my god. you know, they could have had her look up to an original character that, you know, inspired mariner to want to be a leader, a captain, instead of sito, who i adore, but who was always a shrinking violet, even before she committed manslaughter and felt like she had to justify her existence onboard the enterprise.

but they didn’t because reference.

also, like the idea of beckett not wanting to level up because that puts her in a position to send her friends to their deaths. that is completely uncoupled from sito’s death. now i have a lot of salt about sito’s death, because the episode really made it look like she had to die to redeem herself for the mistakes of her past, which i loathe, but mariner being so damn offended by the sheer idea that an officer of this…navy. would ever go into a military mission. for the sake of her people. to fight their former occupiers. and die. like jesus, mariner. let me guess, you want to negotiate with the cardassians next?

it’s really giving “americans who think the biggest casualty of 9/11 was the american public’s ‘innocence’” idk what to tell you

but that’s just me admittedly.

also. lmao. luh. mao. nick fucking locarno. a bit part in one episode from tng. oh he's gotta be the guy to start an insurrection within starfleet, because god forbid we make a new character that would actually make sense to start an insurrection because he'd actually be competent enough to do that.

it really boggles the mind that they'd have the gall to talk about an inner revolt from within the federation, coming from a human, and make it so...senseless. like truly, completely, senseless. why is he doing this? why put in all this effort? some talk about dying for pointless reasons?

like, mike. we may not have seen it onscreen for budgetary reasons but the dominion war was a direct threat against the lives of the people in the federation. they didn't die for 'no reason'. betazed was invaded. cardassia was occupied. if people went 'oh, we don't trust the people in charge,' all of those systems would have been conquered. it's just not a logical train of thought that people would think about.

who the fuck would listen to this rinky dink libertarian who got kicked out of school over a decade ago.

in such a politically thoughtful franchise where the idea of federation citizens doing anything against the status quo that is deeply beneficial to them (whether by doing good things or selfish things on their behalf) would be fascinating, they really just couldn't think of a more interesting way to fuel this story than 'yeah let's bring back locarno, you know, call robbie mcneill, that'll get them kicking in their seats'. woof.

they really went 'what would an evil lower decker be like' and refused to consider that if they're a lower decker villain, they're probably not competent enough to start a whole ass insurrection.

embarrassing.

and to top it off, there's a genesis device. hoo boy. like don't get me wrong, nuclear weapons have existed since the 1940s and even little boy or fat man would be dangerous today, but it really just feels like 'look, reference' all over again. good god.

i feel bad for this show. it wanted to do good, but someone's just really a tng fan who's not putting in the work to think about the world beyond sprinkling in references. i was just starting to congratulate this show both last and this season for doing intelligent, self-contained stories that stood on their own and they popped a squat over the writing of their lead character, a character i love.

Here's a chune as my answer (this will be playing in the background when Mike has the realisation).

Man, oh man have I thought about it and I truly don't know how he will react. My guess is that he will be shocked, probably even in disbelief. Given that Vecna is still around, he would probably think it's a trick. I'm really not a good analyst but here's more thoughts to my tags:

He would be shocked first of all because Will is a boy and Mike has been surrounded his entire life by people who have told him that boys loving boys is wrong (bullies at school and probably his Republican dad -- his mother loves him and would accept him, season one has proved us as much, but she might not have been impervious to societal biases) and he probably never would have believed that Will would feel the same way he does towards other boys. Liking someone of the same gender AND that person being queer and liking you back and WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT, bonus points, it's your best and oldest friend in the world? In Mike's small town, it's highly unlikely bordering on lunacy to even dare hope it would be mutual (compared to Will's bigger town where he seemed to embrace his identity more than in Hawkins - so was Will the first delulu byler?). First shock. Add that to the fact that it's mostly always been Mike showering Will with affection (both platonic and romantic) so it would be easy for Mike to think the feelings only go one way (like the sign, heh), what with Will not contacting him when he was away in California. And then, Mike does not think highly of himself in his actual "romantic" relationship, putting El on a pedestal and doubting his worth. It should be easier, right? El's a girl, wa-hoo, we did it guys, heteronormativity will shield us! But does he feel loved and worthy? Nope. Once again, he has been surrounded by a family that did not curate a healthy environment to share one's feelings, a girlfriend with powers who shuts down his attempts at a connection by refusing to see his struggles as valid, and friends who have all gone on to prove their worth by being talented, loved, smart, funny. My boy has self-love issues and nobody is helping. So for Will, that wonderful pretty boy, to love him back? That's mental gymnastics not even a highly trained Olympic athlete can manage.

At the same time, season 4 has brought Mike and Will back on track and it's clear to everyone and their mother that those two share a special bond, so when the first shock has worn off, my boy will be ECSTATIC. He's comfortable enough around Will to understand his true feelings and not doubt them (outside of a Vecna attack, that is), and once he finds out the painting and the feelings are Will's and Will's only, he will understand how loved he truly is. It's not a love that's coming from words like "Love, El" or "I love you too" from season 3, but a love that runs deeper, that doesn't need to be told but shown, and he has been shown that love multiple times. He will know and understand and accept it.

I'm so happy that you're actually calling what Kinn did to Porsche as what it is. Rape. I've not seen anyone else in the fandom acknowledge that and I don't know why? I guess I got spoiled by Not Me and thought the bl scenario had matured and become more ready to call out problematic stuff.

I'm not saying the scene itself shouldn't exist. It's a story, fiction. But when real people defend rape and romanticize it and live in denial, it feels terrible. I enjoy the show, but it seems if you even hint at calling out Kinn raping Porsche, people will be ready with their pitchforks (not that I care 🤣).

Oh, yeah, welcome to this corner of the fandom where we are truly calling it rape and we're waiting for Kinn and Porsche to talk about it and we believe that Porsche is traumatized and suffering from PTSD and not heartbroken.

If you want my truly wild takes, look at 'no tags here' for the KP posts I don't want to share with the fandom at large. Although I am being more vocal about the whole rape thing now.

Sadly, this fandom is... an odd one. KP fandom is surprisingly vitriolic and I'm kind of worried, honestly.

Yeah, as I've tried to be clear, I am enjoying the show because it managed to show that the rape was a rape, that what Kinn did was wrong and that both Kinn and Porsche know that it's wrong and that is so mature for a BL and it makes me very sad that so many people are denying it.

I've seen a few of the romantizication posts and I've just tried to forget it because hoo boy that is not my type of fandom.

You might also want to look at @thequeenofsastiel for some more meta about the rape as a rape and discussing the trauma for what it is! We've got a little corner over here and it's getting bigger. I've gotten so many good asks and good takes after that last episode, especially considering what I got the week before.

hi! really really sorry if this comes off as weird or if you just wanna move past it, but if you'd like, I'd maybe wanna try and give some...idk...advice? As someone who writes c!primeboys in a way vaguely similar to how you do(I.E focusing on the obsessiveness of c!Dream towards c!Tommy and how he dehumanizes him like a fucking creep, but not That Kind of creep), and who has often dealt with more than just a couple of really nasty, half-assed, fake nice comments on my fics with it.

First of all, I wanna say that there is literally NOTHING wrong(from what I've seen) with how you write them in your fics/drabbles. Literally nothing. Your stuff is horrifying and eerie and makes the skin crawl, but it's done well and very similar to scenes from DSMP canon, and not once in my Basically A Whole Year of lurking before I joined did I ever read your stuff and think it was at all gross or anywhere close to boundry breaking. Like...you'd have to SQUINT and tilt your head a whole bunch. then scoot 5 paces to the left to stand on your head. to get anything /r or heavens forbid NSFW out of your c!primeboys stuff. that's how far off from any boundaries you've been.

like you are Very Good on that front. Please don't ever worry too badly, you're honestly one of the most respectful people I've seen when it comes to the CCs.

Another thing is that I heavily relate to basing c!primeboys stuff off of personal experience. At the risk of being a bit trauma dumpy, I often draw from experiences of both sexual and non-sexual abuse I've suffered when writing c!Dream. Not in the sense that I take the sex stuff and put it up to him god no heaven forbid, but moreso that, as someone who has gone through both "flavors" of how abusers can be predatory towards their victims, I find it very soothing to take the idea of being viewed as just a toy, meat, tool or an object, something to be hurt and consumed for another person's enjoyment, and to take all of that and go "hee hoo evil greem man" in a way that fits the Ccs' boundaries that allows me to vent through whatever I'm writing. oooooften in the "hee hoo evil greem man be evil and then get thrown into the garbage disposal while gold boy get hugged and kissed on the forehead" way, which is a bit different from your horror-centric fics, but hey! the duality of inniter strikes again :D

I get feeling anxious when someone misinterprets your fics. You aren't alone in that. If someone ever tried to accuse me of /r or NSFWing any of my c!primeboys scene, I'd likely have a panic attack and go on lockdown for the next 5 business days. because,,,,,,yikes, ya'know?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you really shouldn't worry as much about coming off a certain way if that's not what you intend in your writing. You tag your stuff very well, you give warnings and are very mindful about everything you create. That anon was being an ass and should go reconsider how they talk to people when they can just curate their own experience. If i had a nickel for everytime I've had someone say some similarly snobby mocking passive aggressive fake-nice shit on my fics, I'd have a lotta nickels and would be a bit less unhappy about reading those things. becuz money. yea....

Sorry this was so long and rambly. I just wanted to try and offer a few assurances <3

G1 Climax final preview

This is typically a one-match show, but that one match is a hum-dinger: the final of the G1 Climax tournament. Both of the finalists are entering their tenth match in 28 days--seven round-robin block matches, followed by a three-round single elimination bracket. The winner will earn the right to challenge the IWGP world champion in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom on January 4.

Kazuchika Okada vs. Tetsuya Naito - There is no time limit; there must be a winner. Okada won B Block with six wins and one loss, and then defeated Zack Sabre Jr. and EVIL for a record of 8-1. Naito is currently 7-2; he won D Block with five victories and went on to eliminate Hikuleo and Will Ospreay. This is their thirteenth singles encounter; Okada currently leads the series 7-6.

Naito's story is simple. He hasn't headlined the Tokyo Dome in January since 2021, and he hasn't won in that spot since 2020, when his victory promo was interrupted by KENTA. Ever since then his goal has been to right that wrong and get the last word on the biggest stage of them all. It'll be even sweeter if he can do it this year, since that would likely mean taking the world title from SANADA, who beat Naito and walked away from their faction to begin his rise to the top. It's not a particularly dramatic saga, but it lines up better than anything else the promotion has been building up all year.

All that's standing in Naito's way is Okada, but that's plenty. Okada doesn't need a storyline reason to win the G1 and headline the Tokyo Dome--he's Okada, end of story. A month ago I predicted Naito would win the G1, and I never wavered in that prediction. But now that the show is hours away and I see Okada on the other side of the bracket, I'm having doubts. I try not to bet against Okada. Even when you're getting a push, he can beat you. Even when you need this win, and it wouldn't hurt him to lose, he can beat you. The only thing that's inevitable in New Japan is that he'll be world champion in the Tokyo Dome again, sooner or later. They could easily defer Naito's storyline to fall back to their tippiest, toppiest guy.

I feel like that sweaty superhero guy who has to chose between pushing two buttons. I'm gonna grit my teeth and stick with Naito to win the G1. But I expect this match to be 35 minutes of Okada making me wonder if Naito is even on his level.

SANADA & Taichi & DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi & SHO & Dick Togo - Hoo boy, get ready for a couple of months of Just 5 Guys vs. House of Torture as they build to Evil challenging Sanada for the IWGP world title. House of Torture matches suck, and even worse they're designed to suck, so I'm not looking forward to this. This program is not what Sanada's title run needed. I guess Evil's team wins to get heat, as if they really need more heel heat.

Shingo Takagi & Hiromu Takahashi & Yota Tsuji & BUSHI vs. Will Ospreay & Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan & HENARE - I'm not sure why Los Ingobernables de Japon is closing out this tour facing the United Empire. Ospreay made news last night by unilaterally renaming his IWGP United States title to the IWGP United Kingdom title, so maybe the plan here is for one of the LIJ guys to be set up as challenger. Bushi is probably the weakest link in this match and can lose this. Although Henare is criminally underrated so I suppose he could get beat too. Something tells me Eddie Kingston will run in after this match to give Henare a receipt from last night.

David Finlay & Alex Coughlin & Gabe Kidd & KENTA & Chase Owens vs. El Phantasmo & Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa & Hikuleo & Jado - On last night's show they seemed to set up Finlay vs. Tonga for the NEVER title and Coughlin/Kidd vs. Phantasmo/Hikuleo (???) for the STRONG tag title. Sure, why not? Jado will probably get beat here.

Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI & Ryusuke Taguchi & Boltin Oleg vs. Zack Sabre Jr. & Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste & Kosei Fujita - Oleg won a dark match last night to earn a future match against Sabre for the NJPW World television title; I'm not sure when that's supposed to happen. I assume everyone else in this match to set up Goto and Yoshi vs. Haste and Nicholls, but it's hard to know what the plans are for the tag division right now. I'd say Oleg should lose but under the circumstances they might actually protect him, so I guess Fujita can lose the fall.

Eddie Kingston & Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii & YOH vs. Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Togi Makabe & Tiger Mask - Wow, it's like they wanted to make sure Eddie got to wrestle all the old guys before he left Japan. Shota Umino & Master Wato & Yuji Nagata & Tomoaki Honma vs. Ren Narita & Minoru Suzuki & El Desperado & Yuto Nakashima - Huh, we haven't seen Nagata in a New Japan ring lately; up until about six weeks ago, he'd been busy over in All Japan as their top champion. I'm a bit surprised he isn't on the old-timers team in the Eddie Kingston match. I guess the story here is nobody's sure where Narita and Suzuki are right now with their relationship, but I haven't seen any sign that's going anywhere. Nakashima is a Young Lion so he's going to lose here.

Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa vs. Toru Yano & Oskar Leube - To me the point of bringing a top guy from Pro Wrestling NOAH would be to give him a respectable run in the G1 and treat him like a star. Instead New Japan positioned him in the middle of the pack and he's finishing out the tour in the opening match. At least he can surely beat Yano on his way out, but knowing Yano I wouldn't count on it. Oiwa and Leube are both Young Lions so either of them could lose the match, which makes this too close to call.

so i gotta make a full ass post about my last reblog because i would be doing the situation a disservice if i posted it only in the tags.

puts my grubby little pizza hands together and takes a deep breath

so.

around 2019-2020, so pre-pandemic, i was working for a small startup business. this was through a scheme that my local council was paying for, to get people into employment and to help local small businesses. great stuff on paper! fantastic stuff even!

this business was uh. well. the guy running it was maybe not the best personality match for me when it comes to a boss, but that's something better demonstrated than plainly stated. i don't wanna say he was a bad guy because that'd be unfair, but i was not the only person who struggled with dealing with him. i won't go too much into his personality either because this isn't about making a smear piece, this is about processing my struggles with illness in the workplace.

so, yeah. i'm a chronic migraine sufferer. it varies from headache and dizziness severity to "i'm having spots in my vision, i feel like throwing up and i literally can't do anything but sit with my head in my hands and my eyes closed tight and make pathetic noises". i'm still not entirely sure what my triggers are for it, but right now i'm thinking it's linked to drastic weather changes, hydration, stress and poor sleep.

i also have moderate to severe depression and anxiety. this ebbs and flows, it always impacts me at a certain baseline but a lot of the time it's background noise. my anxiety tends to flare up more than my depression, admittedly, but hoo boy do they both hit me bad when they hit me.

these were going unmedicated at the time for various reasons.

so, by the very nature of a startup business with less than 10 employees, a lot of us had to do a lot of different kinds of work. that's fine, i'm multiskilled, i don't mind doing a variety of things. but i was definitely more of dog's body than whatever the hell i originally signed up to be, which was more of an administerial/clerical position. aight, fine, i've worked in retail, i can do sales. i'm a computer nerd, i can do social media marketing and graphics. you want me to train people? uhhh sure i guess. and learn UX? fine okay. wait you want me to learn to code as well??? i'm not getting paid enough for this.

so it was a very stressful job. very anxiety-inducing job too. i was told both that i had a lot of responsibility and i was NEEDED, and that the company would simply keep going without me and it didn't matter if i quit or was let go.

oh! fun fact by the way. remember i mentioned my local council was paying for me to be on this scheme? they were paying him. he was getting my work for free, technically. granted, i was getting paid a wage, but he was not the one paying it. yeah. it's great on paper until you consider the way things went in practice.

on one instance i recall that i had my entire evening monopolised, because unbeknownst to me i had apparently agreed to run a live training with someone who was using our product and using it during the evening hours. and i was apparently required to field phone calls from them all evening. i didn't sign up for this, i didn't get paid for these extra hours.

on another instance, i recall we got locked in the building we worked in because we stayed too long (as it was not a privately owned building, we were renting space in a public college), and i was literally in tears with panic about getting out. graciously i was given the next day off work to decompress, but i should never have been put in that situation to begin with. this was due to a bad call on my boss' part.

i'm getting a little distracted here, my apologies, but this thing happens when i start digging up old grievances and trauma that i remember tangential things and it just kind of goes from there.

but yeah. i actually discovered through this job that i suffered anxiety attacks and what they felt like, and that my anxiety was a liability, and i began to suspect through this job as well that my frequent headaches that often led to me feeling like throwing up were not in fact just regular ass headaches.

i didn't feel like i could get sick notes in this situation. i felt like my employer would turn them down or simply fire me.

oh, but you know the time i HAVE used sick notes?

universal credit. good ol' department for work and pensions. rule britannia and all that.

fuck off with that shit actually, they refused my last sick note even though it was ongoing because it listed my depression and anxiety, and they decided that i was actually entirely fine even though they told me i could work on reduced hours to still be eligible for benefits because of my health conditions, and the job search has - to no one's surprise - been making my health conditions WORSE.

(edit: i should clarify, they DID accept sick notes for a time, but eventually i needed to undergo a work capability assessment, and this is when they decided that i still had capacity for work - which i do agree with, there are things i can do! - and then proceeded to ignore the part about it being for reduced hours.)

guess who's been crying themselves to sleep more nights than not, and struggling to sleep, and having erratic schedule, due to scraping to even get an interview only to be NOT EVEN TOLD that i didn't get the job! and that's if i even get a reply back from the first application!

yeah. there's a lot of shit wrong with healthcare and a lot of shit wrong with employment right now. and as it turns out there's a lot of shit wrong with me.

i'm probably gonna delete this post after a while because i always feel bad dumping shit like this on main, especially when it feels like it's old news and i just haven't processed it because i know i'll never get closure. but sometimes i just have to let myself write, and maybe if i post it someone else will come to a realisation and it'll help them. i dunno.
