“Tonari no Youkai-san” The Theme Songs, First Promo

The major promotional video, theme music, and the television anime adaptation of Noho's Tonari no Youkai-san (The Youkai Next to Me) were unveiled on the official website. The anime will debut on April 7 at 2:00 a.m. on TV Asahi's ANiMAZiNG!!! Programming block on ABC TV, and BS12 Twelve will follow.

Tomoe lounged peacefully beside the glittering pool, sheltered from the sun by a large umbrella. Oh, how the privileges of the modern day were different from her past life. Very different, she thought, a smile creeping across her face as she laid eyes upon Ryou. He was grinning widely, positively radiant in the sun as he came over with a couple of glasses filled with fresh lemonade. Only ever fresh, as both Ryou and Tomoe liked it. The packaged stuff was too sweet for her, and too…weird for Ryou. It messed with his stomach, apparently.

"Hello dear!" He called, setting the drinks on a side table. "Shaping up to be a glorious day!" He grinned even wider, and it was like the sun shone from his face. She felt so…blessed by the gods. For once in her life.

Tomoe nodded, snatching one of the lemonades and chugging half of it. There were wonders she wanted to experience slowly, but then there were wonders like this, which she just wanted to have in a single go.

"Though the weather report says it's supposed to rain tomorrow." Ryou frowned, brow creased as he looked at the clear blue sky. "It doesn't seem like rainy season, but I suppose the weather changes whenever it so desires." He continued his thoughtful stare for a few seconds before whipping his head around. "Well! Cold weather means warm cuddles!" She couldn't help the quiet snort at his sudden change in energy. He could be so silly in the most exciting ways.

Cold weather did mean warm cuddles. Always. Ryou lay on one side of the couch, blanket lifted as she approached in her cat form, shaking as thunder boomed and lightning flashed. She wouldn't hate storms so much if they were just quiet. That's all she wished for, was some peace and quiet in the cold weather. Maybe some snow, but it wasn't snow season.

"Mewwww," she whined, leaping up and transforming back into her human body next to Ryou. Her ears and tail remained, her mind too anxious to leave her completely vulnerable in her human form.

"Come 'ere." He covered them both with the blanket, which was soft to the touch and comforted Tomoe ever so slightly, then pulled her toward him, nuzzling into her chest and laying soft kisses on her fluffy pajamas. "You'll be ok. It'll be alright. I promise." And with that, she relaxed, tail still flicking but ears drooping instead of being ramrod straight. Her entire body curved toward Ryou, calmed by his presence and gentle temperature. He truly was a modern marvel.

"I love you. So much," she whispered, allowing a small smile before kissing his poof of unruly, soft-to-the-touch hair.

"And I love you too, darling. I'll keep you safe until the day comes I cannot. Promise." Without thinking, tomoe lifted her pinky to nudge at Ryou's. "Pinky promise then," he chuckled. Their pinkies curled around each other, and a rush of loving energy passed between them. There was magic to Ryou's promises, Tomoe knew. There was magic to Ryou himself. And it was all love.

this has been sitting in my drafts for god knows how long, and given that i have a hetamyu url i should be posting about it more. Anyway! As the local hetamyu and tenimyu lover, it's time for:

HETAMYU CAST MEMBERS IN TENIMYU PROPAGANDA

for the unfamiliar, Prince of Tennis is a classic sports manga from the early '00s that chronicles middle school tennis prodigy Echizen Ryoma and his tennis club's journey to win the national tournament. it spawned a hugely successful series of musicals that launched the careers of countless 2.5D and tokusatsu actors, including half the actors in the Hetamyu cast!

Tenimyu has to date ran 4 seasons: the 1st premiered in 2003 and the 4th season is currently running! All seasons cover the same storylines, but the actors and and some of the songs and/or the instrumental/vocal arrangements for the songs change with every season. Most of the Hetamyu cast who were alumni appeared in the Tenimyu 1st and 2nd.

From 1st season, we have:

Juri

Juri, who plays France in Hetamyu, plays the aggressive but talented delinquent Akutsu Jin in Tenimyu! He originated the role in 1st season during the run of Side Yamabuki feat. St. Rudolph Gakuen in 2005 when he was 24, and continued to appear as a guest in succeeding 1st season myus.

I can't find a clip of his solo song on youtube, so here's Yuki vs Ijii (Courage vs Will), the song that accompanies his character's match against Ryoma. Forgive the crusty video quality, the 00s were a hard time.

Isogai Ryuko

Ryuko, our myu America, portrayed the genius player Chitose Senri! He was first actor to do the role as part of the Shitenhouji A cast, and he debuted in the Treasure Match Shitenhouji feat. Hyotei Gakuen musical in 2007 when he was 20. He doesn't have a solo song, but he has a duet with Tezuka, one of the principal characters: Hyakuren Jitoku no Kiwami vs Saiki Kampatsu no Kiwami (Pinnacle of Hard Work vs Pinnacle of Great Wisdom).

Yamaoki Yuuki

Okki played Yanagi Renji, one of Rikkai's best players, in Tenimyu. He was the second actor to play the role in 1st, replacing Ono Kento, and he debuted in the Final Match Rikkai Part 1 when he was 18 years old. Here's him singing Sago e no Canon, his character duet with his doubles partner Kirihara Akaya, from Final Match Rikkai:

Ueda Yusuke

Yusuke played Tachibana Kippei, Fudomine's dependable captain, in Tenimyu 2nd! He debuted in Seigaku vs Fudomine in 2011 when he was 20 years old. Unfortunately I can no longer upload any clips from Tenimyu 2nd to youtube because of copyright blocking me right out of the gate, so I've linked to a clip of Kejime, his solo from Seigaku vs Shitenhouji (aka the song that should've bagged him the role of Germany from the very beginning):

Hirose Daisuke

Daichan played the twins Ryou and Atsushi Kisarazu! He first appeared in Seigaku vs St. Rudolph~Yamabuki in 2011 as Atsushi Kisarazu when he was 20, and then debuted as Ryou in Seigaku vs Rokkaku in 2012. Unfortunately neither of the twins are major characters, but they do have parts in their team songs! I've linked Rokkaku's team song, Court de Aou (warning for flashing lights):

ROU (Kikuchi Takuya)

ROU played Hyotei's aloof genius player with an iconic deep voice, Oshitari Yuushi (my fav)! He debuted in Seigaku vs Hyotei in 2011 when he was 20. Even back then, he was an incredible singer, and the production certainly knew it; here's him singing an acoustic solo version of Hyotei's theme song, Koori no Emperor, in Dream Live 2011

Sugie Taishi

Taishi, our myu China, played Hitouji Yuuji, a player from Shitenhouji known for his vocal impressions and one half of a *canon* gay couple! He debuted in Seigaku vs Shitenhouji in 2013. Here's him singing his duet with Konjiki Koharu, his character's doubles partner and boyfriend, Geijutsu teki na Tennis:

Honorable mention: The first actor who played Germany in Hetamyu, Omi Yoichiro, was also in Tenimyu 2nd as Mori Tatsunori, one of Tachibana's (Yusuke) teammates!

ISML 2022: That's! A! Wrap! An Era Of Saimoe Finally Draws To A Close

This is the final Saimoe news bulletin for the International Saimoe League on The Bedlam on Baltic Avenue. Nearly two decades of memories, great battles and countless sagas in the Saimoe movement drew to a close with the conclusion of Match Day 8 in the 2022 International Saimoe League Eliminations Period.

The first of three Female Division necklaces up for grabs went to Mashiro Shiina, who defeated Violet Evergarden 3241-1550. Elaina was third with 1222 votes, Nao Tomori was fourth with 870 votes, Miko Nakano was fifth with 781 votes, Mai Sakurajima was sixth with 66 votes, Rem was seventh with 564 votes and Yukino Yukinoshita was last with 500 votes.

The second Female Division necklace went to Yui Yuigahama, who defeated Shiro 2598-2256. Nagisa Furukawa was third with 1306 votes, Nanami Aoyama was fourth with 820 votes, Illyasviel von Einzbern was fifth with 680 votes, Konata Izumi was sixth with 434 votes, Yuri Nakamura was seventh with 378 votes and Yui-nyan was last with 237 votes.

Ai Haibara won the third Female Division necklace, prevailing over Kumiko Oumae 3420-3376, Shouko Nishimiya was third with 1100 votes, Isla was fourth with 720 votes, Hu Tao was fifth with 576 votes, Iroha Isshiki was sixth with 469 votes, Megumi was sixth with 402 votes and Eriri Spencer Sawamura was last with 345 votes.

The first Male Division pendant up for grabs went to Conan Edogawa, who delivered the Final Upset of the Round as declared by the Bedlam, a 2968-2796 scalp of Miyuki Shirogane. Accelerator was third with 1344 votes, Sakuta Azusagawa was fourth with 1100 votes, Kazuto Kirigaya was fifth with 873 votes, Taki Tachibana was sixth with 654 votes, Subaru Natsuki was seventh with 508 votes and Touma Kamijou was last with 470 votes.

Takashi Natsume took the second Male Division pendant after belting Shidou Itsuka 2321-1793. Shirou Emiya was third with 1354 votes, Saika Totsuka was fourth with 1103 votes, Saitama was fifth with 870 votes, Ryuunosuke Akasaka was sixth with 761 votes, Kazuma Satou was seventh with 617 votes and Ainz Ooal Gown was last with 560 votes.

Tanjiro Kamado earned the third Male Division pendant of Eliminations 8, a 2058-2021 victor over Sasuke Uchiha. Gilbert Bougainvillea was third with 1502 votes, Inuyasha was fourth with 1181 votes, Nasa Yuzaki was fifth with 1019 votes, Mikaela Hyakuya was sixth with 904 votes, Mochizou Ouji was seventh with 789 votes and Tomoya Aki was last with 560 votes.

Finally, a convoy of dual matches and the odd race involving more than two took place to cap off an era of Saimoe to be believed. Schwi Dola flew past Jibril 2294-1552, Mahiro Oyama defeated Hideyoshi Kinoshita 1905-1417, Hitori Gotou rocked Yui Hirasawa 2793-2192, Jinx leveled Vi 1777-1017, Pikachu shocked Ai Kizuna 2879-1639, Aqua Minato prevailed over Kokori Amamiya 1607-1555, and in a battle of hololive rivals, Gawr Gura (1336) outlasted Pekora Usada (1281) and Kanaeru Kobo (958).

Amiya sailed past Laffey 2004-1353, Mikoto Misaka finished off her service to Saimoe with victories over Gotou (3454-2344) and Kanade Tachibana (3400-2172), Takagi took down Nagisa Kubo 2142-1498, Raiha Uesugi rolled past Takebayashi 1782-1594, Wein Salema Arbalest won a 1459-1246 snoozer over Kazuya Souma, Nodoka Manabe barreled past Jun Suzuki 1850-1355, Shuu Ogata defeated Haruhiko Ichijou 1632-1438 and Tom outdid Jerry 1987-1904.

Plot Synopsis: Tachibana Yuuichi, who lost both of his parents and sister in a traffic accident, took in his seven year old nephew, Ayumu. To create a new life, he moves them to the city where the sea can be seen, so they can focus only on themselves. They meet Kurebayashi Ryou who runs the local souzaiya. Even though he is the same age as Yuuichi, he is a popular person who has his own shop and is loved by the neighborhood. Taking things day by day, will these three be able to overcome the lingering fears from their pasts?

The story is great. I really love it. Ryou's past made me depressed and I cried. He did a lot of stupid stuff, but the ending is amazing and tears of joy. I know that Yuuichi and Ryou will be together for the rest of their lives.

I want more. A story about them 3 living together and managing the store. Ayumu becoming an ikemen in high school and his love story with Kazuya.

[Subs DL] ALIVE Stage Side Story - ZIX Stage - “Break It!”

Hello, hello! Oh my gosh, I really hoped to post this before the new year started, but a lot happened in the past few months. Happy 2022 to everyone though! Hopefully, this year is much better~! ( ´ ▽ ` ).｡ｏ♡

In any case, I really loved this stage play!!! Like, it’s peak drama and peak angsty backstory, but TsukiPro (SunPro??? LMAO) tells their story in such a beautiful and delicate way. Also, the actors are just really great! Takuto-kun and Riki-kun are just so perfect as Makoto and Mitsuru, and I hope we get to see more ZIX Stages in the future~!

It’s described as a “side story” for ALIVE Stage, but the execution, love, and dedication the staff and cast poured into it is just as phenomenal as with any of the main stages.

I did mention before that the stage play’s story is exactly the same as the “Break It!” drama CD, so if you haven’t had a chance to get a copy of the play yet, listening/reading to the drama will give you a good idea about what to expect!

I actually only subbed the main play part and not the dance live. If your program ripped your BD and combined the honpen and the dance live together, the subs will end right before the dance live starts ^^;

The play is literally just word-for-word from the drama CD, but there were some scenes removed for time. Some differences from the “Break It!” drama were the inclusion of some Growth drama CD scenes as well as the daily ad-libs.

I also changed a bit of wording from the original drama to fit the faster time stamps present in the play.

The second stage for Starry Sky on stage has just been announced.

It will run in Tokyo from January 15th to the 26th 2020 at the Kinokuniya southern theatre TAKASHIMAYA

From the 15 to the 21th the show will run the Star performance and from the 24 to the 26 the Snow performance

Lauren’s Like Rating: 7/10 (This show’s premise is certainly novel, and in my opinion it was executed quite well with humorous juxtapositions of cute idols and their inner yakuza true selves. When I laughed, I laughed pretty hard, which is an accomplishment with me, but I wound up empathizing with the main characters too much, and I say this because I wound up just feeling bad for them most of the time. These negative feelings got in the way of me really letting myself get to know the characters. I was cringing for them as their horror-show lives were being decided by such a cruel and evil man. I would watch more episodes if they come out, but I’m likely to keep feeling more bitter than sweet.)

Character (s): Airi/Kentarou Yamamoto, Chika/Kazuhiko Sugihara, Mari/Ryou Tachibana

Kentarou Yamamoto, Kazuhiko Sugihara, and Ryou Tachibana are yakuza men who make a fatal mistake and anger their boss. They are given two options: death, or get sex change operations and make money for the yakuza as an idol group. Not wanting to die, the trio decide on what initially seems like the less terrible option, but soon come to regret it, as their lives as idols is nothing short of torture, especially due to the cruelty of their boss. Now known as Airi (leader of the idol group), Chika (the ditzy one), and Mari (the older sister type), they have gained scores of followers, who they despise for being creeps.
