Hi lovelies,
Okay so I am in the middle of exam season and I am swamped and I have tried to post this article FOUR TIMES and I am about to lose my shit. Anyways, given how swamped I am, I didn’t have time to write a proper article so i thought I would share some of my favourite art works from the classical period, or artworks reimagining the classical period. This is not in any particular order and this doesn’t even scratch the surface of the amount of cool artwork there is so I might do a part two at some point. I hope you all enjoy and hopefully I’ll be able to write something next week! Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Fanfics n shit!
Hey tumblr long time no see. While I continue to reprogram my brain to remember that this is A Site That Exists, I’ll share some of the fics I published in June:
AOT/Shingeki related:
Ameliorator
Eruri - Explicit - 3391 words
Manga Ch 51 (post arm-loss) hurt/comfort story inspired by a Jp ODOW prompt I filled in 2015 that I finally completed and published 8 years later. Featuring shotgunning w/ medical cannabis, bottom Erwin with a stubbly beard, and feels.
Hades Game related:
Closest To My Heart
Patrochilles, Zagchilles, Patzag - Explicit - 14,382 words
A dark sexy reimagining of the Patrochilles quest in Hadesgame if everything was completely fucked up and Zagreus gets caught in the middle of Achilles & Patroclus who are literally(as in Plato’s Symposium literally) soulmates with a whole lot of jealousy, possessiveness, codependency and abandonment issues. This fic is my new pride & joy so if this sounds like your cup of tea I’m beggin you to read it!! /lh
Flourishing Into Greatness
PZA - Explicit - 6,718 words
Almost 7000 words of pure Patroclus worship. Achilles is the best of the Greeks, but to him the best of men is his Patroclus, so Zagreus wants a lesson in the art of love and to get himself lost in the Pat Sauce. Something to read as aftercare if the other fic hurts your feelings :)
As for Where The Dead Forget, it’s still coming!!!!
My Feb/Mar was busy with a bottom erwin doujinshi anthology I participated in (I wrote a hanahaki disease rivaeru fic that also has an English version), then I was writers blocked for most of April, then I completed a 13k rough draft for chapter 4 by the end of May, and then June’s side projects allowed me to get some much needed distance from it. So now it’s actively being edited and should FINALLY be ready to go in the next week or two!! Sorry if I worried anyone by not updating but thanks for your patience <3

A Body, A Borderland: the Biopolitics of the Irish Border(s), 2019-2020 The Irish border is a political question, but also a spatial one.
Cartography is an instrument of power. The border spatialises state power, and in Ireland, embodies long-running conflicts over self-determination. Despite its openness, it remains a limit of jurisdiction, and for marginalised bodies, such as women seeking abortions or transgender people, a source of systemic violence. The Irish border's spatial site is not only on the map, the territory, but in fact is carried by each body.
“Sovereign territory” is idealised fiction. The 1924 Irish Boundary Commission’s failed attempt to redraw the border demonstrably exemplified problematics of dividing interconnected peoples, economies, geographies, with a line. Mapping Ireland was inherently colonial, and the Irish Boundary Commission’s arbitrary interpretation of “wishes of inhabitants” continues legacies of the cartographic gaze’s power, vested in few, imposed on bodies of many.
When territory as an idea engenders violence, this project proposes deterritorialising sovereignty, basing it on the space of an individual body as a provocation. In Derry/Londonderry, where its bipartisan names are part of the conflict, what becomes of urban life if our association with a state is not based on territorial coincidence, but the body’s choice? May urban flows of people become new maps of the nation, with architecture as the boundary treaty? When the nation is built on the body, how may the body rebuild our understanding of the conflict, and the nation?
This research was featured as an article on e-Flux, Inscribing Borders on Bodies. This work was also part of a Feminist Constitutions symposium on using methods of arts and design in reimagining new processes of 'constitution-ing'. Calvin has also spoken at the London Migration Film Festival about ideas from this work.

KOLAJ FEST SYMPOSIUM SESSION
Sense of Place: Collaging the World We Live In
How do collage artists help us visualize the world in which we live? Kolaj Institute is engaged in a number of projects through which collage artists explore a sense of place and communicate what they find in artwork. At Kolaj Fest New Orleans, Ric Kasini Kadour will speak briefly about each of these projects. He will be joined by Jessica O’Lear and Piotr Wojcik, each of whom centers their art practice on a sense of place. Philadelphia-born, Ottawa-based Jessica O’Lear creates digital collage that reimagines city spaces. Lexington, Kentucky-based scholar and artist Piotr Wojcik uses collage and zine-making in his research practice to engage with maps, archives, and memory as they relate to thoroughbred horseracing, social history, and present-day struggles over the landscape. Kadour will speak about past and upcoming projects from Kolaj Institute. MORE
Kolaj Fest New Orleans is a multi-day festival & symposium about contemporary collage and its role in art, culture, and society, June 15-19, 2022.
KOLAJ FEST NEW ORLEANS WEBSITE
*****************************
Kolaj Magazine, a full color, print magazine, exists to show how the world of collage is rich, layered, and thick with complexity. By remixing history and culture, collage artists forge new thinking. To understand collage is to reshape one's thinking of art history and redefine the canon of visual culture that informs the present.

Architectural Visionaries: Bridging Past and Future in Vienna
In the realm of Vienna's architectural imagination, Hans Hollein's iconic Sparkplug collage stands as a provocative symbol of dissatisfaction with architectural norms of the 1960s. This surreal juxtaposition of a colossal sparkplug against a rustic landscape sparks contemplation on the future of architecture. Hollein's rebellion against traditional forms, even modernist conventions, led him to incorporate consumer products of science and technology into his designs, reflecting the spirit of his time.
Walter Pichler's TV Helmet, a visionary creation from 1967, encapsulates the evolving relationship between technology and society. This futuristic device, isolating users in a cocoon of information, foreshadows today's immersive digital experiences. Pichler's Portable Living Room, with its pneumatic plastic bubbles, transcends mere design, delving into the realms of art and architecture while posing questions about the future of individualized living.
Lebbeus Woods, a visionary architect and artist, challenges conventional boundaries with his experimental projects. His designs, often set in zones of crisis, seek to react to diverse human conditions. In the context of Vienna's first district, Woods' experimental sketches envision radical transformations, echoing the city's political aspirations for change and adaptation.
The collaboration and juxtaposition of Hollein, Pichler, and Woods in a Vienna context symbolize a fusion of tradition, innovation, and political consciousness. As Vienna prepares to host the Fabrication Gap symposium, this metaphorical exploration underscores the urgent need for industrializing construction processes. By embracing innovative methods and interdisciplinary dialogue, architects can bridge the gap between past and future, transforming visions into tangible realities.
In this collaborative vision, architecture becomes a nexus of political aspirations, societal reflections, and technological advancements. The forthcoming symposium serves as a platform for furthering this discourse, inviting architects, scholars, and policymakers to explore novel approaches to construction and urban development. Just as Hollein, Pichler, and Woods challenged the status quo of their time, today's architects must dare to reimagine the built environment, forging a path towards a more sustainable, inclusive future.
Fabrication Gap Symposium: Thu, 18 Apr 2024, 14:30 - Fri, 19 Apr 2024, 17:30 CEST
7 Vordere Zollamtsstraße, 1030 Wien, Austria

Spirituality and Social Justice Symposium
This Spirituality and Social Justice Symposium explores the intersection of spirituality and activism. Host Angelo John Lewis engages in a dynamic discussion with guests Shariff Abdullah, Lucas Johnson, and Cat Zavis about their experiences in social activism and successful projects.
The panelists highlighted the significance of inner work and personal transformation in effective activism. They emphasized the need for individuals to engage in self-reflection, challenging systems of oppression while practicing empathy and kindness. They agreed that the collective exploration of solutions and the cultivation of curiosity and dialogue are essential for creating meaningful change.
Further into the symposium, they delved into the concept of leadership and its role in social justice movements. They express the need for leaders to prioritize love, compassion, and the well-being of the community over power and financial gain.  While they acknowledge the complexity and nuance of leadership, they advocated for a shift in consciousness and a reimagining of leadership that fosters inclusivity, empathy, and care.
Johnson shared his involvement in representing nonviolent activists at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, while Rabbi Cat Zavis discussed her experience advocating for women prisoners in Alaska and improving their living conditions. Shariff Abdullah discussed his involvement in the Sarvodia Peace Action Plan in Sri Lanka, and emphasized the role of grassroots movements in promoting peace and unity.
Abdullah is the founder of Commonway.org, who in the early 1960s he helped found the Black People’s Unity Movement (BPUM), an organization dedicated to self-help and development in the inner city of Camden. Johnson is the Executive Vice President of the On Being project and a human rights advocate and public theologian with deep, global experience in conflict resolution and community organizing. Zavis is the Executive Director of the Network of Spiritual Progressives, and a long time activist in social change work.
The event was sponsored by the Sacred Inclusion Network, and was held April 23, 2023. The panelists emphasize the importance of community and collective efforts in their work, highlighting the power of inclusivity and connection. Links:

WINGDINGS GASTER, PHD
It seemed the doctor they had in their possession didn't have any official file from the government, but public (and maybe some less so, but who cares?) records were able to piece together a decent enough picture of his life.
There's no record of birth, as he was found as an abandoned infant on Vounoebott, and registered as the adopted son of Naoki Rowan, on June 6th, 26 years ago.
He appears to have lived with his father on Samuisiho for the first 16 years of his life, until he got his high school diploma, at which point he moved to Fastitella to join an esteemed university (that accepted monsters), graduating with his Ph. D. at 21, with a thesis having the potential to reimagine the way they perceive hyperspace.
Even at that speed, he still seems to have acquired hundreds of thousands in debt, which despite his best efforts of paying is still accumulating due to interest.
Though he does have records of receiving a paycheck, it's unclear what exactly his job is. It seems unrelated to his research and rather pitiful.
His only registered address is the office that he does research at, and he has no vehicles or health insurance; along with repeated fines for the latter, one that's currently past due.
Despite the government ignoring his existence, he's had better luck with private scientific communities, through which he's managed to appeal to get funding to keep his research going, even if his personal finances are in shambles. It was through these groups that he was invited to, and got the funding for, the symposium he was on his way to; a particularly remarkable event that was rumored to have government officials in attendance and had the potential to change both Gaster's career and personal life for the better.
Although his primary area of research is hyperspace and by association, FTL travel, he has other published work in various other areas, including the battery technology he was talking about earlier. All of his work is extremely technical and not yet refined for a broader audience.
Gaster himself has a very limited social media presence, keeping his page professional, but some of the other coworkers have posted stuff in connection to him. These posts alongside various recordings and commentary on public events paint Gaster as a very quiet and demure individual, unlikely to protest against unfair treatment, and is just trying to do his best in the world; kind and friendly, always looking to help others whether it be pursuit of knowledge or something else he can lend a hand in.

As part of the opening day program of DEMO-, an exhibition of site-specific virtual art in the public space of Frankfurt am Main, the symposium ARtificial Realities was held in the Crespo Studio in Frankfurt –– a collaboration between WAVA and the NRW-Forum, where the second edition of the AR Biennale will open on May 13th under the title HYBRID NATURE (see for more information). An artist talk with Ahmet Öğüt on Monuments of the Disclosed at the site of the Aaron Schwartz monument at DEMO-. DEMO- Augmented Exhibition With works by Morehshin Allahyari, Tony Cokes, Flaka Haliti, Ahmet Öğüt, Tamiko Thiel & /p, and Les Trucs. The streets and squares are crucial sites for creative and political expression. From demonstrations to monuments, advertisements, graffiti, guerilla actions, and street art, public-space activations are essential for democratic thought and action. Today, with the virtual layering of data continuously feeding through our mobile devices, every physical space is also an augmented space. To mark the 175th jubilee of the Frankfurter Nationalversammlung, the first attempt to form a freely elected German parliament, DEMO- seeks to reimagine the public space by bringing the virtual “down to earth,” anchoring it in specific places and contexts, challenging the linearity and binarity of the physical. With visual and sonic interventions, participative installations and critical monuments, DEMO- virtually occupies specific locations across Frankfurt am Main and introduces artworks of different media that take over and augment the shared public space. All artworks are accessible on location via the WAVA app, free to download on Android and iOS until April 30th 2024. About WAVA DEMO- is powered by WAVA—Withstanding Audio Visual Augmentations—an emerging platform for site-specific augmented reality turning the world into an ever-changing exhibition space, developed by Ben Livne Weitzman, David Bachmann, Florian Adolph, and Grit Medea. With WAVA, artists, curators, institutions, and the broad public can easily place, share, and experience virtual artworks in specific sites and contexts, envisioning a new hybrid space that bridges the physical and virtual. Get in touch! DEMO- was made possible through the support of the Netzwerk Paulskirche and the Cultural Office of Frankfurt am Main on the 175th anniversary of the first German National Assembly in the Paulskirche.
