It's quite funny how the (lack of) hospitality of a nation turned into examining said nations past. I mean, it's important to do that once in a while and recognize where some part of your wealth and political power comes from but also colonialism is not over. And the French (and others) are probably sweating bullets in case their Francegate comes up because they've been at their empire basically uninterrupted till today.

I keep telling everyone about how Sweden is a racist hellhole and like sure, I agree, not feeding people is genuinely fucked up behaviour, but it's not quite on par with one of the biggest parties starting to sell lighters and maps on their website after a bunch of refugee centres has been burnt down as to encourage it.
Everyone talks to me like Sweden is a socialist utopia, and like, not to disappoint y'all, but last time Sweden had an actually kind of lefty PM was in the 80s, and he got assassinated.
And like read about Sweden's ties to slavery (hint: chains), the Nazis, eugenics, what was and is still done to Sami and Roma people, to refugees, to disabled people, look how trans people was forcefully sterilised up until just a few years ago -
Like don't get me wrong, I've ranted about the dinner thing countless times, but it's not what I expected Sweden being cancelled for.

I just saw the whole Sweden thing and its so fucking funny because I stayed with a Swedish family in Gothenburg for a week for am exchange in highschool and I thought I just got unlucky with my family but apparently not
There where a lot of weird incidents but basically I was there with a friend, their house was huge, like not mansion level but almost, and they gave us the smallest room possible for the both of us, it was literally just a bit bigger than a closet.
But the worst thing was on our last day when we had to take the plane back to Spain NOONE WAS HOME. Like noone to get us from school to the house, from the house to the airport, to give us food, to say goodbye??? So we basically had to figure everything out and just decided to take a lot of their snacks for the plane as compensation.
So I guess the conclusion is, what the fuck Sweden?

I have now seen at least 4 different possible explanations for why Sweden is Like That.
In the past Swedes were really violent and always trying to one up each other and feeding your guests makes them owe you so in an effort to have a less violent society they stopped feeding guests
Eating with someone is really "intimate" and not something you do with just anyone
Sweden went through a really bad depression so they stopped feeding guests
Poor Swedes will feed you but rich ones won't
Oh yeah and also the take that feeding your guests is ableist and not feeding your guests and leaving them to starve is autistic-friendly.
