Imagine seeing “there’s a fund for disadvantaged children you could donate to instead of paying for a more expensive streaming service of previously free content if you want and have the money to spare” and saying essentially, “ur hurting my feewings my fandom doesn’t need this right neow”

i'm seeing that y'all are gonna let watcher control the narrative and act like we misunderstood them and they were never gonna remove their stuff from youtube. you can say whatever you want about their streaming service, but one thing is a fact: they are lying to us pretending that was not their intention and we're spreading misinformation. we not only aren't stupid and understood the video correctly, but also they told variety that that's what they were doing.

Adaptations will always be a bust if there isn’t love in it. The most basic ingredient is prioritizing story telling more than maximum profit.
It will always fail if it doesn’t stick to the THEMES of the original media. It doesn’t have to be a 1:1 overall, most people don’t want that. People think they want that, but they don’t.
If an adaptation EXPANDS on the world building and the characters it’ll be well received. If it upends characterizations/character arcs/storylines/stakes and therefore alters the themes of the media it will not be well received.
Live action has the opportunity to show so much depth to characters so when it starts telling instead, it’s doomed to fail. Especially when it tells the audience very fast.

I wont even hate watch so someone lmk if I’m getting this wrong BUT so far from what I’ve gathered
Katara has most of her character cut. She’s not headstrong, she can do advanced water bending right off the bat, she’s the immature one??? (Sokka tells her to grow up???), she doesn’t try to take on a caregiving role. Which is crazy because that means she basically has none of her negative traits most of which developed from the trauma of her mom dying in her place. Which is a very well done aspect of losing your childhood to war? Also let women have flaws? Let a teenage girl be a teenage girl?
Atrocious wigs and costuming (allegedly)
Hakoda left to hunt down Kaya’s killer??? Again terrible thematic choice. He is a LEADER who left to fight a WAR, to fight for his people who have been systemically murdered for generations, to fight for the safety and future of his children who he would rather be raising but CANT. Leaving his children to hunt down his wife’s murderer??? Nah bro.
Sokka has resentment towards Hakoda? Which like? Again weird thematic changes stemming from weird thematic changes.
ALOT of telling instead of showing which was a strong suit for the original
Aangs character also being upturned?
Ty Lee and Mai just show up? No recruitment scene where Ty Lee is sweating bullets? (ALLEGEDLY)
June flirting with Iroh? Now I’m not advocating for the harassment of women and love a #dilf moment, but Iroh having faults is… good? Idk man! I just think characters should have flaws. Should’ve just framed the scene as not a joke imo

Netflix, I don’t know how to tell you this but a woman doesn’t have to be self taught to be a strong female character. It’s ok to let her know her limitation and ask for help. It’s ok to let her get angry, it’s ok to let her be jealous, it’s ok to let your female character have flaws and WORK on them. Your female character doesn’t have to become a master on her own to be memorable, it just makes her accomplishment feel unearned.

The Biden administration is not planning to punish Israel if it launches a military campaign in Rafah without ensuring civilian safety. Three U.S. officials, granted anonymity to detail internal discussions, told NatSec Daily no reprimand plans are in the works, meaning Israeli forces could enter the city and harm civilians without facing American consequences. More than half of the enclave’s 2.3 million population has fled to Rafah, putting them in clear danger whenever the operation moves beyond the bombing phase. Public comments by senior Biden administration officials made clear there won’t be a change in approach, even though the U.S. said it wants to see a credible civilian protection plan before a ground invasion starts.

Rafah is a massive shelter with children and elderly unable to evacuate
Feb 12th 2024, 00:15 GMT
Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Rafah in southern Gaza Strip
The Israeli army has been saying that there’s no victory without invading Rafah and dismantling the military capabilities of Hamas movements here.
But the civilians here are very concerned and this has triggered wide-scale condemnation among different international organisations and states in the region about the disastrous potential consequences.
Specifically, right now Rafah has become a massive shelter for more than 1.9 million Palestinians.
Evacuation centres and makeshift camps have been established recently alongside the borders of Egypt, which will absolutely pose a new significant threat also for Egyptian national security.
And let’s be very aware about the dangerous humanitarian catastrophe that will result if that military incursion happens, specifically among children and among elderly people who are unable to easily evacuate the city as Israel has claimed.
What is happening in Gaza’s Rafah as Israel threatens to attack?
Feb 12th 2024, 00:30 GMT
More than a million Palestinians are trapped at Gaza’s southernmost point, with the Israeli army preparing a ground attack.
But what is Rafah and what are the details around this announced Israeli “operation”?
Palestinian Rafah is 64sq km (25sq miles) and, as Israel assaulted Gaza these past four months, more and more people have been herded into it by Israeli forces who keep promising safety “further south” – which never materialised.
People are in dense clusters in the limited space not filled with debris or being bombed by Israel. Conditions are dire, with severe shortages.
