Turns out Star Wars can be good if you just tell good stories that mean something and have real life implications and impact, who knew-

Y'all, we were all laughing that Obi-Wan was the sad wet cat of the fandom but Cassian Andor easily takes that spot

Star Wars really is the home of “Lets take the most drowned rat loser of a man and then take a woman who can do way better and make them a thing” huh?

I thought of another reason some folks aren’t really into Andor, and the anons who are harassing people for not watching are not helping either, is that it doesn’t FEEL like Star Wars. And people say yeah it doesn’t because it’s GOOD. Wrong. To me it doesn’t feel like SW because it’s TOO HEAVY, too ADULT and grim dark. SW at its core has always been able to appeal to 12 year olds! Andor doesn’t have that to me. 12 year old me would NOT care for this series. I gave this series a shot I really did, but lost interest after episode 5…
Ok listen, I feel like this 1000% needs to be said:
Andor is covering what it was truly like to live under the Empire. Under a fascist/totalitarian government. It is exploring every dark, terrifying and heavy theme because it is essential that you as a viewer understand the stakes the Rebellion was up against.
Respectfully, this show is extremely applicable to millions of real life people around the world who face the very same unjust circumstances shown in the show. It might be uncomfortable to watch in a SW setting but that’s the point. It’s supposed to unnerve you, upset you, bother you that this is the way the Empire treats people, especially POC.
Same way that it should in real life.
Media covering a topic this drastically important should be heavy and truthful to help you really get a grasp on the seriousness of what people go through in these circumstances. It is more real and darker than any SW show before it because it’s taking the issues head on instead of just subtly hinting at it.
But at its core Star Wars has always been about this kind of struggle. And I really implore you to understand why this show is important, even if at times it can be a little triggering to watch.
When exploring fascism and to help educate as to why it’s so fucking horrific, you may need to get out of your comfort zone. If you’re lucky enough to have one in the first place…
I can understand being triggered by the show if it’s mirroring events that have happened to you or your family experience etc. but otherwise I feel what’s being discussed is too important to dismiss.
Please understand that so many do not have the luxury of being able to close their eyes to or turn off fascism. This show is to tell their story so we don’t allow this to happen in the real world.

just. losing my damn mind at the way andor shows acts of rebellion. culture is rebellion, language is rebellion, living is rebellion. and of course, like nemik writes, rebellion is collective. individual acts all across the galaxy add up and up and up until the spark catches and the flame bursts. we see it in the townspeople of ferrix — their mourning, their traditions are used as bait for cassian, an attempt to bring stop his acts of rebellion, but it doesn’t work. of course it doesn’t work. they move the funeral forwards, they use the bell tower to signal, they use their strengths to embody rebellion. and it’s just like nemik says — the empire is unnatural, it has to work and work and work to keep people downtrodden and consumed by the imperial machine. so naturally, like we see from cassian and maarva and brasso and the countless citizens of ferrix who are waking up, the empire can’t understand, syril and dedra (both of whom are shown to work and live in highly individualistic, cutthroat environments) can’t understand. that’s how the rebellion wins. together

Quotes from "ANDOR" which keep haunting me:
"Gets to you, doesn't it? That's what a reckoning sounds like."
"That's just love. Nothing you can do about that."
"But this time... You can't stay and I can't go."
"Power doesn't panic."
"I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude."
"Never more than twelve."
"ONE WAY OUT!"
"I've made my mind a sunless place. I share my dreams with ghosts."
"I can't swim."
"Let's call it war."
"Tyranny requires constant effort. Authority is brittle. It breaks, it leaks. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that."
"Freedom is a pure idea."
"I show you the stone in my hand, you miss the knife at your throat."
"Tell him I love him more than anything he could ever do wrong."
"The Empire is a disease that thrives in darkness, it is never more alive than when we sleep."

Andor is so mind-blowingly good that I, my father, and my brother were all speechless at the end of the latest episode. We sat through the entire end credits, unmoving, not making a sound, as that ominous piano tune played in the background.
I won't go into much detail in this post but it is simply impressive how terrifying the Empire is and how well they're conveying that image. If you didn't feel afraid during at least one point in episode nine, I don't know what to say to you.
It's haunting and fascinating, and my only regret is having been too busy these past weeks to not properly talk about the other episodes.
But damn, if you haven't watched this show yet, you really won't regret doing so. You won't be wasting your time. This is the best live-action Star Wars we've had in so long.
This series truly knows what Star Wars is about and it's taking it on a whole other level. This series has to be talked about more.

I think one of my favourite understated moments of One Way Out was that shot of the doctor in amongst all of the chaos.
Like he just looks up and realises that they ARE getting out, that this is happening, and the fact that it's Kino speaking let's him know that he had a part in it.
It wasn't his intention, but he was the catalyst that lead to this.

I cannot believe there are people actively refusing to see the reflection of the themes and characters in andor to the real life experiences of millions of people simply because they want to fuck a villain character of the show or want to fucked a watered down anglicized palatable version of cassian.
I’m fucking disgusted.
