His hand reaches out to rest on her thigh, her skin reacting to the contact with goosebumps. "I can hear the sun from here… you sound like that, a dull roar. It makes me think of life; a cacophony of vibrations and textures, of timbres… rich and varied,"
While he speaks she shifts subtly, her thighs pressing closer together, her full lashes quivering and her breath becoming uneven. The glass in her hand shakes just a fraction before she puts it down gingerly.
"Let's dance," Is all she says, rising to her feet with the hand from her thigh already in her grasp.

The South Dakota class was ordered in the context of global naval rearmament during the breakdown of the Washington treaty system that had controlled battleships construction during the 1920s and early 1930s. Under the Washington and London treaties, so-called treaty battleships were limited to a standard displacement of 35,000 long tons (36,000 t) and a main battery of 14-inch (360 mm) guns. In 1936, following Japan's decision to abandon the treaty system, the United States Navy decided to invoke the "escalator clause" in the Second London treaty that allowed displacements to rise to 45,000 long tons (46,000 t) and armament to increase to 16 in (410 mm) guns. Congressional objections to increasing the size of the new ships forced the design staff to keep displacement as close to 35,000 LT as possible while incorporating the larger guns and armor sufficient to defeat guns of the same caliber.
Indiana was 680 feet (210 m) long overall, displaced 44,519 long tons (45,233 t) at full combat load, a top speed of 27.5 knots (50.9 km/h; 31.6 mph and armed with a main battery of nine 16"/45 caliber Mark 6 guns[a] guns in three triple-gun turrets on the centerline, two of which were placed in a superfiring pair forward, with the third aft.

Where is the line between dreadnaught and super dreadnaught?
Gun size? Tonnage?
That's a good question.
A super dreadnought is usually the refinement of the concept. But the definition can vary from country to country. Generally, these ships started the adoption of superfiring turrets, increased tonnage, and increased diameter of the main guns (14 or 15 inches).
Just like how the British Royal Navy kicked off the naval arms race with HMS Dreadnought, this new chapter was started with the Orion Class.
For the US Navy, it started with the New York Class.
For the Imperial Japanese Navy, it was the Fusō Class.
For the French Navy, Marine Nationale, it was the Bretagne class.
The Argentine Navy, Armada de la República Argentina, with the Rivadavia class. The only South American country to have their super dreadnoughts completed. Though, I would classify them as semi super dreadnoughts based on the turret layout and 12 inch guns.
The Germans were the last to start building super dreadnoughts, this being the Bayern class.
Later, the number of turrets decreased from 6 or 5 turrets to 4, adoption of triple gun turrets to keep the same number guns as previous classes, having the turrets along the centerline and adopting the all or nothing armor scheme, and towards the end of the 1910s, the adoption of 16 inch guns.
After WWI, the super dreadnoughts were slowly being supplant by a new class of battleships. These ships incorporated higher speeds (i.e. 23 to 25 knots), and the lessons learned after the Battle of Jutland. This led to increased size and tonnage, and better subdivision of the interior spaces to increase survivability. These ships would later be called as the fast battleships. But this topic is for another post.
