Oh incredible question thank you. Overall I am a AMOL enjoyer as you could probably tell from my url but there were definitely some wasted opportunities etc.

Ok first of all … fucking Thom. Let’s just get rid of that Warder bond but also it makes no sense for HIM to guard the Bore, like old ass no magical powers man?? Nobody jumps his ass?? They all politely walk up to him with Mask of Mirrors on and he’s like hmm that’s not how Cadsuane walks. Like how???

Somebody else on here suggested Lan guard the Bore which fucks severely because the only three people he’s ever cared about are currently fighting for all our lives. Force him to stay alive for something rather than constantly trying to kill himself in his pointless one-man war.

As well I think Lan should have gotten to confront Isam. I know that would take some rearranging of Slayer but if we don’t know how he got put together anyways well shit let’s pull him apart. Then Perrin could have taken on Lord Luc as a Rand look alike which I also think would have been interesting for his character.

For Perrin though too just like an honest acceptance of his wolf powers and leading the wolf packs instead of his dream journey.

Siuan and Egwene to not die 😭 Gawyn not to be a stupid idiot who put on the blood rings after a literal Seanchan warned him not to. Not to sound pro Gawyn on main but he should have fulfilled his birthright of leading Andor into battle beside Elayne.

How Fain died was really jarring, like what a weird time to throw down that Randland knows about germ theory.

I will say though more characters should have died, it ends up being somewhat low stakes because there doesn’t really seem to be element of danger. Like some people should have been cut down mid PoV to give some tension. It’s hard for me not to just name characters I don’t like lmao but like, c’mon, if Egwene dies then one of the Two Rivers boys should too.

There was only one bed. Kakashi has read about this, but for it to happen to him in real life, with you of all people? He wasn’t sure if he was in heaven or hell. Maybe both. Yeah, probably both. He should have known he was doomed when you let out a quiet ‘tsk’ at his declaration that you can have the bed and he’ll sleep on the floor, and when he felt a tugging on his shirt and your pleading eyes seeking his, practically pulling him down on the softness of the bed with you. And it made sense–you two just finished a long and draining mission, and you needed to rest. It was as simple as that. Kakashi envied you, for how easily you could fall asleep, sprawled out on the bed as if you owned this place, without a single care in the world. Meanwhile he didn’t dare to move, almost didn’t dare to breathe either. Where your skin brushed against his, a tingling sensation spread throughout his whole body, impossible to ignore. It was when your quiet snores turned into something else, something more needy, that Kakashi had to bite down on his own tongue, eyes glued to the ceiling in an attempt to not let them wander over your sleeping form. There were no doubts what your dreams were about, from the way the mattress dipped slightly when you rolled your hips, soft whines escaping your throat in your sleep. He should get up, should walk out of here, pretend he didn’t notice anything–but then you mewl his name in your dreams and everything within Kakashi crumbles.

"And you're embarrassing the Ministry by dressing like this; I've always said so." His free hand was wrapped around Harry's wrist, apparently to make sure he didn't run, but his grip was firm against his pulse point and unexpectedly warm and all Harry could do to not lunge at him was focus on anything other than his long fingers or the soft curve of his mouth.

So he stared unblinkingly at the ceiling and catalogued sounds: the rustling of his suit as it readjusted itself, the pleased hum Malfoy made when he was satisfied, the soft footsteps padding across the room--

--Wait, Harry thought, and aimed his wand toward the noise. "Stupefy," he said, still staring at the ceiling. He heard a grunt and a thud and felt Malfoy backing away, and after a moment spent collecting himself he followed.

"Oh, hey," he said, peering down at the man he'd just knocked out. "This was the guy who was targeting the prince, wasn't it? That's convenient."

Malfoy's eyes were wide. "You didn't even look," he said. "That--was irresponsible."

"I knew where he'd be," replied Harry defensively, and Malfoy swallowed. He glanced down again, wordlessly cast a Full Body-Bind, and glanced back at Malfoy, who was now staring at him with an expression Harry didn't dare parse. "Er," he said. "D'you reckon we should get going?"

"Threat neutralised," said Malfoy, his voice low and rough. "We could probably just call in and skip the event."

Harry frowned. "But you like those stupid parties."

Malfoy stepped forward, his cool fingers reaching up for Harry's jaw. "I can think of better ways to spend my time," he said, and Harry was about to ask what could possibly be better to him than kissing some prince's arse, but then Malfoy leaned in and kissed him so hard he stumbled back and Harry suddenly wasn't too bothered about the ball either.

Boy oh boy spopera lore time!

First of all credit for Lumian!Martyn to @strifesolution , who is the local Yogscast fan among us space operators that make up the au, and since lumians are a yogs aliens.

General spopera tdlr is: treebark are spaceship racers! For the space opera au I think we’ve been allowed to make things up a bit and play around with the lumian worldbuilding. Here’s what I got from the collective lore google docs for the au:

Lumians are a bipedal humanoid species that produces a bioluminescent element in their bodies called bioneos. Lumians are identifiable by bioneos freckles. In the au and out of the main characters, Martyn and False are lumians, Martyn having an almost cyan tone to his bioneos, while False has red.

The colour varies, and it can help track family lineage, despite the fact that lumians are typically a communal species with no nuclear family unit. However, some lumian families that leave their home planet may no longer have the community support, and likely adopt a family unit home style.

Lumians may have “gendered” appearances but they are a unisexual species. Societal roles in lumian culture are often decided by stature. Shorter, broader lumians often take to building, hunting, and child rearing. Taller, more slender lumians will take to taming, climbing, and navigation.

The home planet of Lumians, Corruscate, has a tropical climate. The planet is mostly covered in jungle and forests, with megaflora that cast dark shadows. To compensate for the darkness created, living species in Corruscate, as the lumians themselves, have bioneos that create the bioluminescence typical of lumians.

Since lumians are from a hot planet, they are particularly susceptible to cold and temperature drops. As a defense mechanism to save energy mentally and physically, and to be able to get themselves out of the cold, they’ve evolved “glacieration”, also known as “frost mode”

Frost mode is essentially a survival mode to keep them alive. As the temperature decreases the lumian will feel cold and uncomfortable and sick, until they suddenly seem to gather themselves and be okay; this, apart from a pale and grey complexion and dulled glow, is a sign of frost mode.

The body freezes over as it switches its priority from maintaining heat to creating adrenaline for the lumian to use to get themselves into a safe temperature. However, the modern lumian can decide to ignore the primitive urge to warm up and instead do other activities, although prolonged frost mode is lethal.

A result of the intense shot of adrenaline is erratic behaviour, like apathy or snapping or being aggressive.

(These pieces I made for treebarkweek, for example, were meant to be about frost mode happening while Ren and Martyn went to a very cold planet for a race. The assumption is that the cold discomfort happened mid-race, but Martyn refused to retire. Afterwards when Ren follows him into the lockers he finds him fully in frost mode; he can't feel the cold anymore since he's sort of icy all over now, and he's pumped full of adrenaline and suceptible to being irrational, so he'll probably pick a fight with Ren if Ren decides to chastise him about putting the race before his health)

(Also it might be obvious already but frost mode was taken from the idea of having inthelittlefrost in the au somehow.)

🧸 Tenth doctor

10th Doctor is a flip to me! He is SUCH a regressor and SUCH a caregiver at the same time.

I personally think that any version of The Doctor doesn't fit into dichotomies: they're always both of whatever is offered to them.

Random Headcanons:

1- bad at keeping regression gear separate: if he's taking care of a regressor, he'll steal their gear, but also give them things from his own stash: he just doesn't register the 'his' vs. 'theirs'

2- his physical affection goes way up when he's regressed, and he's definitely a 'run and jump into a hug' kind of regressor when he's comfortable with someone

3- I think The Doctor and The Master used to be a matched set of flips when they were both on Gallifrey and it adds to ye olde angst of 10's seasons
