One year ago today, Bonnie was in Ohio attending our grandson’s wedding. I was in Kentucky to visit my baby sister. I got sick. On May 27 last year, I went to the ER. My heart was out of rhythm and I could not breathe well. I was by ambulance to a regional hospital. I try to keep this from Bonnie. That did not work. I encourage her to stay the course with the family. I will be OK. I arrive at the regional. EMTs receive orders to take me to the (ICU) intensive care unit instead of the (CCU) cardiac care unit. When I arrive at ICU, multiple people work on me. All but one looked like a blurred stop action video. When a tall raven-haired nurse stuck me for an additional IV, my heart returned to rhythm. She looked in my eyes and said, “I healed you.” Over the next 30 hours, I learned my healing angel’s story. This is an I fall in love everyday moment taking place. Discharge orders, not step down orders, arrived less than 24 hours later. Six hours later, my angel came with a wheelchair, I said, “No, thank you.” She walked me instead to the car where my sister waited for me. This was the capstone moment. I cannot tell you the rest. There was one more angel. My daughter Micha @michaidana drove across the country to bring me home. She is a special soul. I drove halfway home. That felt good to be able to do. In a year, I have gone from 254 to 224, get off meds that came with the experience, taken on a health regimen that has worked for me so well, I am healthier than I was 20 years ago.
