Hej!

Hi! OP of the invisible comic here :D I'm glad you liked it hehe, I had sooo much fun reading your fic and the Espilverweek ones as well. I rotate these two in my brain every day now, I'm glad to finally sit down and make something for them!!! I have more ideas in store >:]
Ahgh thank you so much 😭😭😭
Its always such a weird thing to remember anyone reads my silly stories, I am glad if you enjoyed them! I loved your picture all your art is so pretty, you have a wonderful style to your sonicky characters!
I appreciate it so much, I did in fact squeal, makes me feel bad that in the fic I cut that moment off with Bokkun getting shot lol, I always balk when things get too romantic!
Thank you so so much ❤️❤️❤️ no pressure ever though - I also definitely don't own any of the ideas I have posted and love seeing them transformed and run with!

the problem with suddenly being active on my art blog is that I don't have the muscle memory of switching accounts yet. And both my icons have Garfield in them so that does not help LMAO

A long-winded looking back on things below the cut:
The first few pages of Infested were uploaded to this blog on March 2nd, 2023 -- Over a whole year ago! I was so busy, too, that I completely missed its birthday (Sorry Infested). Looking even further back than that, the original story was was something I began writing on December 25th, 2022 (Merry Christmas).
It took two years to get to this point.
And hey, not to toot my own horn about it, but completing even one chapter of a webcomic is a big deal. Especially for me. My first webcomic, Fight/Flight, didn't get very far. I completed the prologue, started Chapter 1, and then had to drop it for a number of reasons (I didn't really agree with what baby-me had to say, politically, anymore).
This comic was born from a lot of intense feelings. The story, itself, too. Some good. Some bad.
I had been forced to move away from my hometown, and with that move, I lost the physical connection that I had to all of my friends. I lost the familiarity of a place I'd known for most of my life. I'm now stuck somewhere... Worse. It felt like a cage. Still does. Disconnected from the life I thought I would be living after college. I didn't have health insurance, either -- Got kicked off of it because of the move -- And as a result, I was off my antidepressants.
So there I was, at a pretty low point in my life. I miserable and lonely and every single day dragged on. And on. And on. And I felt so disappointed in myself. That disappointment became self-loathing, and it all kinda spiraled.
Have I mentioned that I'm a huge Sonic fan? I don't think I need to. I'd say it's pretty obvious. But for the sake of this story, I'll say it again: I'm a HUGE Sonic fan. I've been that way since 2003 with Sonic Heroes. The franchise has been in my life for over two decades. I had a monthly mail subscription to Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic the Hedgehog was something that I truly loved more than any other piece of media. It brought me endless joy. Until I didn't.
I had dropped Sonic after Lost World was... Itself. I had already felt pretty irritated with the Meta Era, and Lost World was the final straw. The last bit of hope that the series could recover was snuffed out when Forces was released. It was over. I was done. If Sonic was truly that embarrassed by itself, if they had truly lost touch with what made the series so great, then I wouldn't waste my time any longer. I was so sure that I had to just... Grieve and move on. My beloved childhood game series was dead. Long live the king or whatever. I'd just bitterly read IDW Sonic and think about what could've been. I was lucky to have that comic, at least. Archie had been canceled, too, after all. I was lucky to have my scraps.
Then Sonic Frontiers came out. And it changed everything.
And my god, it was everything. It was everything to me. Flaws be damned, it was everything. To. Me. The spectacle. The serious tone. The vastly improved writing. Kellin Fucking Quinn. It was FUN! It was actually FUN to PLAY. He was back. I was back. Sonic pulled me by my hand out of the ocean of misery I'd fallen into, and he looked me in my eye and he said;
"Hey. You're gonna be alright."
Metaphorically speaking. Sonic The Hedgehog didn't actually literally speak to me -- And sure, okay, maybe it's a little dramatic to describe a game as this great Depression Annihilator but I'm dead serious when I say that, for that time, before I was able to get back on my meds, I was self-medicating with Sonic.
Sonic was all I was thinking about. I reread the Unleashed arc in Archie Sonic, which got me sorta realizing something, and which led to my post where I said something along the lines of "Sonic would hide a zombie bite."
Archie Sonic would, at least. Because he basically did do that in the Unleashed arc of that comic. He let that problem fester until it became an even bigger problem because, ironically, he didn't want to be a problem.
So one thing led to another. I thought more about Sonic becoming a zombie. Bada-bing, bada-boom, Infested was born.
I didn't expect it to get the attention that it did. I felt lucky when the first page I drew Rouge on (Page 6 I think?) blew up. The right people saw it at the right time. I'm extremely grateful for that.
I'm extremely grateful for all of you.
So yeah, one chapter. Woo! Here's to many more.

DOGGIE LANGUAGE WINS TWO AWARDS
Tumblr media
The Dog Writers’ Association of America competition results for 2020-2022 are out!
I am very grateful and humbled that my first book - Doggie Language: A Dog Lover’s Guide to Understanding Your Best Friend (Summersdale Publishers, 2020) has won two awards: Best Series of Illustrations and Best Book in Behavior, Health, and Care.
The other books in the same category are by dog advocates and authors I really  respect so to be honest, I received this news with some mixed feelings. The fact that a small illustrated book that is relatively light on text has won a Best Book award next to these amazing other nominees tells me that pictures can communicate very important information. Art can be useful and effective in helping people connect with their animals.
Thank you to everyone who has supported my through the years! I am by no means an expert on anything and am always passionate about sharing what I am learning through my art. The learning doesn’t end!

LAST BY NOT LEAST.... Pet Portrait Commissions
I have been receiving numerous emails asking me when I will be doing pet portraits again. This is a tough question to answer.
My work schedule has changed radically in the past 2 years, and I am still figuring out how to juggle being a new author (all the time needed for research, drawing, writing, and deadlines!) with managing online retail & wholesale shops, AND doing commissioned work. There is also the matter of work-life balance. What this means is that I have less time that I used to.
It is likely that I won’t be doing portraits again until 2024 when my next book - Dogs of the World - has been submitted to my publisher.
Thank you for understanding,
Lili x

Book Review #2
Book Title: The Little Book of Philosophy: An Introduction to the Key Thinkers and Theories You Need to Know
Author: Rachel Poulton
Edition: Paperback, Summersdale, 2019
Target audience: Anybody interested in a general summary of the evolution of philosophy
Many of us may have heard of the word "stoicism" or of someone named "Plato". However, not everyone is clear why suffering helps a human live a purposeful life or how rationalism formed Socratic thinking. For those who want to find the answers to the questions and take a further step into the philosophy world, though, this miniature book could be a perfect fit. With over 200 pages of summaries, the reader is guided through the history of this field in a simple manner that allows them to absorb concepts easily yet accurately. Entries cover biographies, concepts and much more - making the learning experience one that shows how exactly various ideas have evolved and the factors affecting their development. From start till end, the writer continuously shows an encouraging attitude towards everyone learning about philosophy, whether professionally or leisurely.
The chronological order of the field's history made for a smooth read, especially since it showed how the evolution of mankind had a profound impact on various schools of thoughts. There was a diverse range of philosophical perspectives included, which gave place for some cultural learning too. There were many definitions given to help readers grasp the ideas properly. The humor included made difficult information more engaging to digest and made the experience more lighthearted. Certain concepts or philosophers were introduced too briefly, but given the nature of this book, it is understandable and did not seem too big of an issue considering that there were many resources listed at the end for the audience to further their learning. I really enjoyed the chapters about female philosophers (who happened to be an extreme minority in the field until the last few centuries).
I would recommend this book to those who are beginners in philosophy - it really is a great start that will not only show you the importance of its findings, but how it affects you too. Those interested in history or general knowledge are also welcome. While I could complete this book in a single read, I believe that it could also be effective as a reference book read from time to time when you are in search of a particular concept or just want to read it on the go for a few minutes. This book is also a great idea if you want some inspiration for your self-improvement journey as it focuses heavily on what it means to live a fulfilling life. Enjoy reading this book :)
Signing off till next time ~
