Sure zabraks from Dathomir are cool, but can we talk about Iridonian zabraks too? Eath Koth is being tortured by Grievous and manages to hand sign his coordinates! I mean he is suffering the pains of hell and he’s still lucid enough to use his skills to tell his position by using a secret code, all of this passing unnoticed. And what about Sugi? She is so damn cool, she’s a great warrior, she actually manages to keep up fighthing MAUL (at leats for a few seconds lol) but yeah, she’s just a bounty hunter, so that’s pretty formidable.

Iridonian zabraks are cool, that’s my point.

I know I said I would mainly be doing anime but I just had a thought:

You know at the end of SWTCW S3 in the Padawan Lost arc when Sugi, Seripas and the Wookie chief (and there may have been another bounty hunter) all come in Sugi's ship to rescue Chewbacca and the padawans? Well I just remembered that one person who was originally part of Sugi's group wasn't present at that little fight. Yes, I'm referring to Embo. I was think last night that wouldn't it be so cool if Embo was with them. How cool would it have been if he just jumped in and rekt the shit out of those Trandoshan hunters? The creators should've put him in the episode.

hello there, happy Tuesday! How do you go about designing and fleshing out your characters? Do you have a specific process, require a jumping off point, or do you discover the essence of your characters as you write? (maybe your process is different depending on the genre/WIP, which, if it is, feel free to answer this for a WIP of your choosing! )

Hi! This ask was so unexpected but I appreciate it so much, it made me smile!

So when it comes to initially designing the character, I actually just tend to gather little tropes and concepts that I enjoy like a borrowing animal building a nest. Like for Sugi, she's just:

Knife Lesbian

Possessed by a God

Feral Forest Gremlin

Special Child (kinda, she's 19)

Lone Wolf Who Desperately Wants Friends and Pretends Not to

Burdened With a Purpose She Rejects

Hunted by the Government/Authorities

Snarky Healer

These are all bits inspired by either Tumblr posts or other existing characters. As I write, the characters develop themselves and seem to let me know where they want their personality and story to go. Their appearance also usually pops up once I have a general feel for them. Sugi started off looking like this (but with a slightly deeper, more coppery skin tone):

And has eventually ended up a lot grungier. Dark undereye circles, messy hair, bony body, dirty cloak... she doesn't care about her appearance. Basically, as long as she feels like a cryptid, she figures she's safe.
