The brothers, Day's anger, and Night & Mork
Disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning 🙏
This is in part inspired (brainrot-induced? brainrot-fuelled?) by @chalkrevelations's post about the brothers and Day's behavior (go read it first if you're reading this!!) and in part just my usual language rambles observations.
Let's establish a few facts first
(all pronouns presented as A/B are to be understood as I/you)
Night is older than Day - by enough that he's older even than Mork! (Mork and Porjai both call Night พี่ /phi/ while referring to Day as น้อง /nong/)
The brothers use กู/มึง /guu, mueng/ with each other, despite their age gap. These are informal pronouns that are actually pretty rude outside of using them with people you're close to because they're overly familiar
-> for reference, Day, Gee and August all use these with each other, and Mork and Porjai use them with each other
Between ep. 1 and 2, Night and Mork go from the polite formal ผม/คุณ /pom, khun/ in both directions to Night using กู/มึง /guu, mueng/ and Mork using ผม/พี่ /pom, phi/ - they're friendly with each other!
-> for reference, that's the exact same as you hear P'Aof and JimmySea using in the bts- P'Aof uses กู/มึง /guu, mueng/ while Jimmy and Sea use ผม/พี่ /pom, phi/ with him
Same as I've said that Mork and Day's way of speaking is getting sweeter, Day and Night are. uh. kind of the opposite. But also, they barely talk directly to each other anyway.
So let's look at that fight in the car in ep. 8
Night tries to engage Day and an awkwardly-caught-in-the-middle Mork takes up the speaking instead. When Day opts to use Mork as a middleman (just one of many instances of both brothers not speaking directly with each other), Night keeps on trying to engage him to no success. And then he just kinda- 🥴

I wonder since when they've been this distant because Night here isn't looking at Day like he's a person, he's almost looking at Day only through the lens of 'person I need to take care of' - because of the responsibility their mom has put upon him and because he's the older brother - anyone who's the eldest child among siblings and feels seen please raise your hand 🙋♀️
Night means well, he cares about his brother - but he's also ignorant and a bit of a klutz with his words. It's being singled out as disabled and the implication of needing special treatment in everything that tick Day off enough to speak directly to Night and start getting rude:
The word here is เหี้ย /hiia/ and it won't be the last time or the only curse word he uses.
Night is saying all the wrong things of course, while Mork is sitting in the back having to witness it all (and maybe being reminded of fights he's had with his own sister).
มึงรู้ปะ ตอนนี��กูเห็นเหี้ยไร /mueng ruu bpa, dtaawn nee guu hen hiia rai/ = You know what the fuck I see right now?
กูไม่เห็นเหี้ยไรสักอย่างไง /guu mai hen hiia rai sak yaang ngai/ = I don't see a fucking thing!
แล้วทุกอย่างแม่งก็หนักขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ /laaeo tuk yaang maaeng gaaw nak khuen reuuay reuuay/ = And it's all damn getting worse.
แล้วเพราะกูรู้ว่าแม่งแค่ฝันเนี่ยะ /laaeo phraw guu ruu waa maaeng khaae fan nia/ = And because I know it's just a damn dream,
แม่งยิ่งเหี้ย /maaeng ying hiia/ = that's even more fucking shit.
Oof. Calm down, kiddo, this is your brother ;;
Day speaks with bitterness and resentment and viciousness. I don't think this started when Day started losing his sight but long before that, the way Day talks to and about his brother:
The only one who's looking out for Night is Mork
We actually get a lot of reaction shots of Mork silently watching and trying to parse the family dynamics, reaction shots of Night looking melancholic because of or happy for his brother, and sometimes it even looks like Night and Mork make sympathetic eye contact via reaction shots:
Night defends Mork several times in front of their mother and later tells Mork that they're grateful to him for making Day happier! And Mork does the same, he mentions Night to Day positively. Day doesn't realize it, for some reason, but Mork and Night talk to each other. And they see how Day interacts with the other one.
So it didn't surprise me at all to find out that Mork had gone behind Day's back yet again, after the brothers had that huge fight in the car. Of course Night knows where they are and that Day is safe. Of course Night knows. Night is constantly making sure that Day is okay without actually showing his involvement - he is just as invisible as Day and Mork were in parts of the story.

oh my go i just watched the virus sbemail for the first time and oh my goddude i feel like i just had a like 8 course feast put together to feed hundreds oh my gosshness. IT HAD SO MANY THINGSI LOVE…… the way sb sounded so actually distraught and truly scared from the moment the error screen appeared and the way he tried to get to cheat for some form of help or comfort and also at the end he didn’t even hit or insult or do ANYTHING to bubs that was how messed up he was he just ran off and cried.. ive noticed that’s just what sb does when he’s truly upset and has no idea what to do. just run run run . and also more of?????? Homestar seeming to know more and be more aware of where they are than any other character!?????? bubs took the direct approach of destroying the compy itself - which can we talk about how cool that in itself is. the way, since the in-universe hsr world from what im seeing is a digital world, the way it can all be affected by a computer inside of it rather than a computer outside of it or rather hosting it, the same way an irl virus would spread from a physical thing… that is So fucking cool to me. oh my god dude. but yeah bubs had a more direct approach like a more hands-on solution for it but homestar…. ive noticed other instances of this too where he seems to know stuff the others don’t. and obviously they all know they have a website they all bring it up sometimes but like. homestar seems to know it isn’t THEIR website they’re in. as in they didn’t make it themselves. idk just the way he was calmly plucking the menu buttons while sb was SO disturbed by the mere sight of him doing that, and the way the popups were of him out of anything. idk its very cool to me. to imagine homestar beinf the only self aware one.

Annoying fandom people when you tell them characters do things based on writers’ decisions and biases and are not fully autonomous sapient beings they’re watching in a terrarium
#babbles#this is in general an ideal i hold very close in fandom stuff but like especially abt wc cuz that fandom sucks with this#i hate warriors fans so much it’s unreal. it’s not ‘these writers have weird ideas about what is romantic’ but ‘this character is toxic!!1’#boiling down what can be a meaningful discussion about abuse and patriarchal standards into a purely blorbobrained character argument#about in universe traits like these characters are real and we need to give them counseling#because having the 500th soapbox about bramblestar or nightheart or whoever being abusive makes you feel progressive#like. i'd love to discuss for instance the misogynistic standards that the erins have as writers and how that affects their work.#i dont however care to discuss which Fictional Cat For Ten Year Olds is the most Problematic. bc that does nothing#reminds me of that tweet abt like the fatphobic trope of chars being depressed or hitting a low point and being fat slobs#and ppl came in waves like 'no it makes sense because he was depressed and xyz etc etc' like we're discussing a real person#and not constructs made by writers that show fatphobic ideologies. missed the point so hard dude.#less 'character does this' more 'writer made the character do this'. not even in criticism but in discussing themes etc etc

what gets me is how fall out boy is always always remembering and paying tribute to their roots. how they're always making references to past songs and videos and have been doing that for the entirety of their career. how those references never feel self inflating but instead are always injected with this air of gratefulness and reverence. for their fans and for each other and for the music that brings them all together. they've always been hyperaware of their place in the industry and so they never take any of it for granted and. it's like every night on stage is a thank you and a promise. like, it's been the four of them for twenty years. they've ended all their shows with the same song for twenty years. and it's like, never trust a band that wouldn't bleed for you. it's like, fall out boy forever and ever and ever

i guess im not too involved in the zelda fandom cause seeing a post about rabid totk defenders is wild to me. from my perspective people were singing that game's praises for 2 months total before it fell to the "popular game bad actually" criticism wave and i don't think i've seen anyone say positive things about totk since then lmfao
#maybe it's just twitter's algorithm showing me discourse and criticism to try and spark engagement or whatever#ive experienced the same thing with mario odyssey which sucks cause i DID get into that game well after release but whatever#i think the game has plenty of flaws but is still like. one of the best games on the switch and that's not an insult to the switch#and most of my writing issues are 'well this sucks but also makes reasonable sense within the constraints of the game design'#like the lack of sheikah tech or the repetition with the backstory cutscenes with the sages#ive also never been super interested in trying to piece together the timeline or linked universe fan stuff but that might just be me#i feel like botw/totk is way better when you view it as a retelling of the zelda universe and give up on trying to reason with the timeline#for making a direct botw sequel on the same map w the same formula and still trying to make it fresh they knocked it out of the park imo#at least in regards to gameplay?#i acknowledge that there is a MASSIVE flaw in the non linear gameplay clashing w the linear story cutscenes this time#(... but that one didn't personally affect me since i saw the memories in mostly the right order and the story hit me weirdly hard)#but anyways yeah where are all the mean totk defenders i keep hearing about i thought that game fell out of the public consciousness#all i still see about it is NintendoMarioJimmy47536 on twitter calling it 'mid af' or whatever#and occasional gorgeous paintings of the light dragon on my dash

it's kinda weird to see people arguing that megatron isn't a slave and going back and forth and trying to bring up logistics and semantics. you don't have to like him but trying to ignore a huge, canonically part of his character and the reason he started a revolution is erm...
like again don't like him, don't like the decepticons, but claiming a man who was clearly a slave, and has been confirmed as a slave by himself, canon, writers, and other characters is weird and gross.
and the arguments some of you guys use mirror how people try to say that black people or other ethnic groups who had histories of slavery aren't actually slaves. I've seen weird shit like that come up in arguments and in lectures and it's weird.
regardless he is canonically a slave, who had to fight for his own freedom. the decepticon movement was made by a slave who had no choice but to fight against an oppressive regime. all of deception high command was also oppressed at a point which is why they became decepticons.
if you can't take the fact that megatron was a slave and that the decepticon movement started as a form of revolution then the story probably isn't for you.
this isn't to excuse just how badly megatron and the other cons (soundwave and starscream and even shockwave) fucked up at the end and how their movement became oppressive. but the critique is the decepticons wouldn't need to exist if there wasn't an oppressive government - the autobots--existing in the first place.
the fact that slavery literally existed in tf isn't something you should be trying to argue or act like isn't true it should be horrifying and show that autobot society needed to change.
but no go on and be weird and gross and argue how someone who is canonically a slave isn't one because you don't like him.
