I thought it would be funny to get one of those shirts but with all Shallan’s personalities. Now l regret not getting a wild theory added as the last one. Like &Kelsier
But l realized l can’t wear this shirt out and about. What if l spoil it for someone

Did you know that Sadeas has a higher POV word count (4,840) then Renarin (4,354) does? And despite Renarin being in all 4 books he only has 8 POV’s with 7 in Oathbringer and one in Rhythm of War. There are three characters with one POV that have a higher word count than Renarin: Cenn (4,510), Rock (7,782), and Skar (4,448).
Other characters with less number of POV’s and a higher word count include Eshonai (17,896 words and 7 povs), Venli flashback (17,628 words and 8 povs), Rlain (8,754 words and 6 povs), Wit (7,363 words and 4 povs), Lirin (4,385 words and 2 povs).

Why I Think Dalinar Will Lose
[MAJOR spoilers for Rhythm of War! Spoilers also for Mistborn included in #1]
At the end of Rhythm of War, Odium and Dalinar set terms for the Contest of Champions: it’s happening in 10 days, and they’re each picking a willing champion to fight to the death on the top of Urithiru. Dalinar has decided to be his own champion, but we don’t yet know who Odium’s champion will be. We also don’t know what the outcome will be.
And personally? I’m wagering that Dalinar will lose the fight. And here’s why.
1. We’re halfway through a 10-book series.
I mean, it’s like when the protagonists of a TV show have a great plan...10 minutes into the episode. You know it’s not going to work out. Now, this is a little different, since there’s going to be a time jump before Stormlight 6 and who knows what the plot of the second half of the series is going to be--it could be like Mistborn Era 1, in which [spoilers ahead] the Lord Ruler did really die at the end of Book 1 and then the next two books dealt with the fallout. But still. I feel very suspicious about our protagonists winning against Odium this early.
2. Taravangian’s now in charge.
Dalinar could handle the old Odium--they’d verbally sparred a few times already, and Dalinar always came out on top. This Contest of Champions business itself is Rayse making what seems to be a pretty bad deal--he’s bound to the system no matter the outcome. But now it’s not Rayse any longer; it’s Taravangian. And Taravangian is scarier--even Hoid freaked out before his memories were wiped. And in that same scene, Taravangian realized something. We don’t know what, but I am not optimistic about what it means for Dalinar.
3. The Mysterious Odium Champion
My previous list/poll about who Odium’s champion might be raised a number of seeming no-win situations for Dalinar--especially once you take into account the comments I got on my poll. What is Dalinar supposed to do if his grandson Gavinor is the champion? Or Adolin? What if it’s Taln, and killing him will mean breaking the oathpact and letting Odium free after all? And if WE can come up with these seemingly unwinnable situations for Dalinar, what could Brandon Sanderson come up with?? The fact that we don’t know who the champion is makes it seem much worse for Dalinar, somehow.
4. It’s just the more interesting outcome
Like, if Dalinar loses, he becomes Odium’s agent in the wider Cosmere: evil, worldhopping Dalinar working for Odium and presumably doing what he can to undermine him at the same time. Flavors of Marsh from Mistborn Era 1. To me, that just feels more narratologically interesting than Dalinar winning, getting some land back, and then the borders freezing where they are.
5. There’s always another secret.
I feel pretty secure in stating that there will be SOMETHING unexpected about this duel. Maybe it won’t be Dalinar losing--maybe it will be someone other than Dalinar being his champion (I haven’t given up on a Kaladin vs. Moash fight). Maybe the fight won’t happen at all, due to some sort of Taravangian machinations. Maybe we’ll finally find out what made the Radiants break their oaths in the first place and the fight will take on new and more terrible connotations. I’m not that good at guessing. So for me, the simple “twist” to expect is Dalinar losing.
What do you all think? Take the poll to share your thoughts!

Okay so I finished the first mistborn (spoilers for that and stormlight archives) and like.
Kelsier is just dead then? What the fuck. I figured it would be a Jasnah type thing where he shows up in the epilogue to hint that he's still alive but he didn't. Ik he has to be alive bc of Thaikadar (spelling idk) but his bones got fucking monched on so idk.

Boots! In 2022 Brandon Sanderson's art director Isaac Stewart asked me if I could redo an illustration of the scene I made two years prior for the leather bound edition of the Words of Radiance
So I tried for a new framing that would keep or even up the antics of everyone‘s expression, but would feel a bit more cinematic. The horse, of course, was the most difficult one to get to feel right and a lot of it gets swallows by the gutter in print. 😅 And I tried so hard to make it offended by Shallan‘s (loudly uttered) demands. Kaladin’s expressions also took a lot of altering until it sat right. I am very happy with this Tyn. 😁
The crowdfunding campaign for the Edition starts on the 5th of March on Backerkit. It’ll be very pretty with loads of additional art! (There’s also a probability of more art by me in there… 😉)
The ID for the illustration in the book is by the great @priscellie The IDs for the rest is by me

I've reached the part of Rhythm of War where Kaladin invents group therapy but also refuses to go to group therapy
Kaladin: I think it would be helpful to get a group of people who have been through similar trauma together in a safe calm environment where they could talk to each other. They could support each other and won't feel judged because they've had similar experiences. I think this will work because I've been through some traumatic events and I would benefit from something like that
Kaladin's friends: so you'll be joining this group too right?
Kaladin: Oh. No.

adolin half teasing kaladin while out for drinks sometime in Urithiru: you know your feats on the shattered plains aren't quite as impressive now that I've seen more of your magic glowing powers thing.
Kalidan: hm
Adolin: knew there was something weird about you. Ha. I mean i was amazed at the time, but surviving the fall from that bridge sabotage isn't really anything now that I've seen-
Kalidan: actually I didn't have my powers for that part
Adolin: what
Shallan: it's true he didn't
Kalidan: Lost syl right after prison, I got maybe a chip of stormlight while falling , just enough to not die, no powers the rest of the time
Adolin: how
Kalidan: I already explained the whole - with elhokar and moash -
Adolin: no, i mean, the highstorm -
Kaladin: yeah that was shallan
Shallan: shardblade cubby cut out part way up the wall
Adolin: and the chasm fiend? It really was already dead -
Shallan: no very much alive, very much tried to kill us
Adolin: and you-
Shallan: no that was kaladin
Adolin: what
Kaladin: I mean you did distract it, and I wouldn't have been able to do anything without your pattern blade
Adolin: you killed a chasm fiend. Without special powers.
Kaladin: I mean shallan-
Shallan: he jumped right in its mouth!
Adolin: i - you killed a chasm fiend. Without any other fighters. By yourself. Without radiant powers. You're - you're sure? No special abilities?
Kaladin: it was a pretty painful time, yes I'm sure. Did some spear katas. Noticeable difference without the bond with syl.
Adolin: you fought the chasm fiend. handicapped.
Kaladin: I guess? I dont know if it's handicapped considering, you know, most people don't ever breathe stormlight.
Adolin: you killed a chasm fiend singlehandedly. Without shardplate. And without any powers.
Kaladin: you're repeating yourself
Shallan: ...it was pretty impressive
Kaladin: you saw how messed up my leg got!
Adolin:
Adolin: I hate you so much.

Kaladin aroace moments chronicalized by me, an ace
| TWOK | WOR | OB | ROW | KOWT |
TWOK ch 10: stories of surgeons
“Sani’s head rolled to the side, and she mumbled, drugged. She wore only a white cotton shift, her safehand exposed. Older boys in the town sniggered about the chances they’d had —or had claimed to have had— at seeing girls in their shifts, but Kal didn’t understand what the excitement was all about. He was worried about Sani, though. He always worried when someone was wounded.”
•••
TWOK ch 16: cocoons
“More and more, Kat found that he liked looking at Laral, Kat knew, logically what was happening to him. His father had explained the process of growing wich the precision of a surgeon. But there was so much feeling involved, emotions that his father's sterile descriptions hadn't explained. Some of those emotions were about Laral and the other girls of the town. Other emotions had to do with the strange blanket of melancholy that smothered him at times when he wasn't expecting.”
•••
“Kal found his eyes lingering on her again. That hair of hers was beautiful, with the two stark colors.” (Ok this reads as aesthetic attraction to me more than anything.)
•••
“Kal, if you go to war and find a Shardblade, then you’d be a lighteyes… I mean… Oh, this is useless.” She settled back, folding her arms even more tightly.
Kal scratched his head. She really was acting oddly. “I wouldn’t mind going to war, winning honor and all that. Mostly, I’d like to trace. See what other lands are like.”
•••
TWOK ch 17: A Bloody, Red Sunset
“Always keep a glowing sphere in your pocket,” Kaladin said. “It’s good luck.”
“You certain you don’t want a love potion?”
“If you get caught in the dark, you’ll have light,” Kaladin said tersely. “Besides, as you said, most people aren’t as trusting as you.”
•••
TWOK ch 25: The Butcher
Kal glanced up at the mansion again. “That’s why you encouraged me to play with Laral so much. You wanted to marry me off to her, didn’t you?”
“It was a possibility,” his mother said, returning to her work.
He honestly wasn’t certain how he felt about that
•••
How would he feel marrying someone like Laral? He’d never be her equal. Their children would have a chance of being lighteyed or darkeyed, so even his children might outrank him. He knew he’d feel terribly out of place. That was another aspect of becoming a surgeon. If he chose that path he would be choosing the life of his father. Choosing to set himself apart, to be isolated.
If he went to war, however, he would have a place. Maybe he could even do the nearly unthinkable, win a Shardblade and become a true lighteyes. Then he could marry Laral and not have to be her inferior. Was that why she’d always e chaired him to become a soldier? Had she been thinking about these kinds of things, even back then? Back then, these kinds of decisions—marriage, his future—had seemed impossibly far-off to Kal.
He felt so young. Did he really have to consider these questions?
•••
TWOK ch 37: Sides
Would he see Laral here? He was embarrassed by how infrequently he thought about her these days.
•••
So much had changed. It had been so long, and seeing her brought up old emotions. Shame, excitement. Did she know that his parents had been hoping to marry him to her? Merely seeing her again almost flustered him completely.
•••
TWOK ch 40: eyes of red and blue
Ok I don’t want to quote the whole thing because it’s like three pages. But the conversation between Kal and Sigzil at the end of the chapter where Sigzil says stuff about Kaladin being a leader and whatnot. Yeah.
•••
TWOK ch 44: the weeping
Some might find that dark hair sprinkled with foreigner blood to be unappealing for its indication of mixed blood, but to Kaladin it was alluring.
(Dictionary definition of Alluring: powerfully and mysteriously attractive or fascinating)
•••
TWOK ch 46: child of tanavast
“Your face has strong lines. Square and firm, with a proud chin. We would call it a leaders face among my people.” [Sigzil]
“I’m no lighteyes” Kaladin said, spitting to the side.
•••
TWOK ch 62: Three Glyphs
“I tried to rescue, Tarah…” He hadn’t thought of her in some time. His failure with her had been different from the others, but a failure it was nonetheless.
•••
Tumblr media
I dont remember what chapter this is from but holy fuck that’s the gayest thing I’ve heard Moash say and Kaladin following it up with a cool thanks bro can you go help those two? KALADIN

I keep thinking about that one scene with Adolin and Sadeas. My man's like "Mwahahaha! You are powerless to stop me, Adolin! I will continue to undermine your father despite all that has happened! My plan is perfect! You and your bridgemen are nothing but dust under my boot! And the best part is I can gloat about it to you as much as I please in this here abandoned alleyway with absolutely no witnesses!"
And Adolin goes "No witnesses, you say?"

Parts in RoW that made me tear up just a bit: Kaladin speaking to Tien and being able to swear the forth ideal. Eshonai soaring with the storm and being able to see the world.
Parts in RoW that made me grip the book in agony and almost fall off the couch, causing my flatmate to ask if I was okay and give me her tissues: Teft's death

I've been trying so hard to find an asian/wasian shallan fc since everyone took the "She's pale" and fancasts her as white even though she's confirmed to have epicanthic folds and is inspired by Mongols by brandon. So for your consideration; Havana Rose Liu as Shallan Davar
