Ethnic cleansing? Genocide? Apartheid?
Throwing around these buzzwords to describe the Israel-Hamas war because you’ve seen them on social media doesn’t make you right, and it doesn’t make you an activist.
It makes you ignorant, intellectually dishonest, and lazy for parroting biased talking points with no concept about what these terms actually mean.
What is apartheid?
Well, it was first used to describe the political system in South Africa and today’s Namibia whereby racism was institutionalised. This manner of governance meant that clear racial segregation would occur, in a manner that benefited the white race and would actively oppress those who had darker skin.
This meant that there were white-only spaces, white people would get prioritised when it came to education and jobs, and relationships/marriages between white peoples and coloured people were illegal.
Is Israel objectively an apartheid state? There are no laws that actively favour one group over the other. There is a sizeable population of Israeli Arabs that can thrive in the same way as the Israeli Jews can. There are laws against discrimination on the basis of gender, race/ethnicity, and sexual orientation.
Palestinians from Gaza are allowed to work in Israel through a work permit system. There are about 150,000 Palestinians working in Israel, most of which live in Israel and some come from Gaza/the West Bank. They aren’t denied rights institutionally.
Is it harder to get a job or education in Israel if you’re a Palestinian from Gaza? Sure, because of different governments. It’s like how it’s a lot easier for you to find a job in your own country (in terms of paperwork and bureaucracy) than overseas. But you’re not denied the right to apply.
Of course, if you have a history of violence, a criminal record, or your family has ties to terrorists, then it’ll be a lot harder to get an approved work permit. But that’s not apartheid. That’s common sense, and a regulation practiced by all countries that minimally desire to protect their own population from danger.
Ethnic cleansing and genocide
These two concepts can go hand-in-hand. Ethnic cleansing refers to the mass expulsion or killing of a group of people based on their ethnicity. Similarly, genocide is the purposeful killing of a group of people solely with the intention of annihilating them.
Famous examples? The Holocaust, of course, where the Nazi regime believed in the superiority of the Aryan race and decided to declare genocide on the Jews, Romanis, the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, people with “Asian features”, and many many other groups. Anyone who they didn’t think was “pure”.
Their aim was to ensure that the Aryan race propagated without having “impure” blood affecting the bloodlines. They even started a eugenics programme called Lebensborn to ensure that more pure Aryan babies were born.
More recent examples? The Rwandan genocide where the Hutus attempted to wipe out the Tutsis on the basis of ethnicity. They mandated that Tutsis mention their ethnicity on state-issued ID cards in order for the Hutus in power to be able to identify them and then kill them.
Or the Yazidi genocide which happened so recently, in which ISIL killed, raped, and sent thousands of Yazidis into conversion camps on the basis of their ethnicity. They also took Yazidi women as sex slaves and raped and tortured them.
Or the Rohingya Muslims in the Rakhine State in Myanmar, and how there was a mass killing and expulsion of them from the country, forcing them to flee to Bangladesh to take refuge, crating the world’s largest refugee camp.
Or how ISIS killed thousands of people from Christian groups in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and Libya because of their faith, leading the US, EU, and UK to label this as religious genocide and condemned their actions.
Has Israel been practicing ethnic cleansing and genocide on Palestinians all these years?
Well, the birth rate of the Palestinian population in Gaza, the West Bank, and in Israel has been steadily increasing all these years.
So, no. No ethnic cleansing, no genocide. They are free to have as many children as they desire.
The UN Genocide Convention
The United Nations has 5 actions that constitute genocide.
1. Killing members of a target group
Israel is targeting Hamas officials with the aim of wiping out the terrorist group and ensuring that such a deadly attack on Israeli soil doesn’t happen again. I suppose you could call it genocide against Hamas, but they’re killing Hamas because they’re terrorists, not because they’re Palestinian. Shouldn’t everyone believe in genocide against terrorists?
But look at Black Saturday. Look at Hamas’ rhetoric. They repeatedly call for the annihilation of Israel and genocide of Jews. When will the media start believing what they say, word for word, instead of trying to spin it into “hmm maybe they want to kill all the Jews because they’re freedom fighters!”
War has collateral damage. Of course the innocent civilians don’t deserve to suffer just because of the actions of their government, but there have been warnings given to the Palestinian civilians prior to Israel striking the areas. There are consequences of attacking a country first, and then having that country attack you back.
2. Causing people of the group serious bodily or mental harm
The UN refers to sexual violence as the prime example of non-fatal harm.
Sexual violence has occurred. Hamas have kidnapped and raped women and even paraded the bodies of half-naked women around. But I f Israel had done the same, it’ll be the first thing appearing on everyone’s BBC push notifications (without even being confirmed as true).
3. Imposing living conditions intended to destroy the group
Many people refer to the blockade that Israel imposed around the Gaza Strip as an example of this.
This blockade was imposed by both Israel and Egypt in 2005. Its aim was to prevent smuggling of weapons into Gaza, and isolate the reign of Hamas to the region. This was to ensure the safety of Israel and Egypt.
Did this blockade pose serious challenges to the Gazan civilians? Of course. But that’s a consequence of having a terrorist government. If you have a terrorist group running your country, don’t be surprised if neighbouring countries are extra careful about who or what they allow in or out of the borders.
Many authorities from other Arab nations have also expressed approval of Egypt’s border restrictions, and even encouraged Egypt to flood the terror tunnels that Hamas has dug under the city. As a side note, other Arab nations have not historically been very kind or welcoming to Palestinians. Syria has killed over 4000 Palestinians, and many Arab countries are now refusing any refuge for Palestinians. But no one cares about that because it doesn’t make Israel look bad. All they do now is use the images of dead Palestinians under the hands of Syria and reuse them to propagate fake news.
The blockade has been labelled as a human rights violation because of collective punishment. Many humanitarian organisations believe that the blockade has caused the Palestinian civilians disproportionate harm.
Contrary to popular belief, Israel isn’t disallowing humanitarian aid from coming through the borders. Fuel, food, hygiene products, clothes, and shoes have been coming through the borders regularly for years. The Gaza Strip also has electricity and internet access and water.
Do all these items reach the Palestinian civilians? Well, there has been evidence that Hamas has been intercepting a lot of the supplies sent by humanitarian groups. This is not surprising since the UNRWA tweeted that Hamas has stole fuel from hospitals in Gaza in order to launch more rockets at Israel (but quickly deleted it after realising that it goes against their agenda to paint Hamas in a bad light.) In addition, the returned hostages have mentioned that there are many aid supplies hidden in the terror tunnels by Hamas. Instead of giving them to the civilians, they are hoarding it for themselves.
There has also been video evidence that some people are reselling these aid items in stores at exorbitant prices in order to turn profits. This has been well-documented for the last 10 years.
Is blockading the region to mitigate terrorism a disproportionate response? Well, it’s like asking if heightened security and stricter border control at airports is a disproportionate response after 9/11. Is being cautious and worrying about the security of your country an irrational reaction to the constant threat of terrorism?
4. Preventing births
Gaza’s population growth rate per annum is about 1.99%, which is the 39th highest in the world! Their population is allowed to propagate freely.
Israel isn’t preventing births of Palestinian babies.
5. Forcibly transferring children out of the group
No, Israel hasn’t been taking Palestinian children and forcing them to convert/keeping young Palestinian girls as sex slaves. Like I said, if this was truly happening, all the news outlets would be so quick to publish the story before verifying it.
Can we trust the UN Genocide standards?
The UN is known for corruption and have been exploiting the Palestinian people by selling them the humanitarian supplies instead of distributing them for free, which they should because these supplies literally are donations.
The UN also has differing standards of what they would label as genocide. For example, they refuse to call what China is doing to the Uyghurs in Xinjiang as genocide, even though the situation does fit many of their own criteria.
Hence, to all of you out there overusing these terms without knowing what they mean, make up your own mind about things. No one can force you to believe anything and no one can force you to change your mind.
But at the very least, do your due diligence and educate yourself before spouting tired buzzwords. Repeating misinformation doesn’t help anyone and can be very harmful.

Israel–Palestine Conflict: Big Hidden Game Plan Behind Israel's Innocence
Tumblr media
Israel Palestine War - The Conflict Explained
Raj Express World News. The biggest war of the last two decades is going on between Israel and Palestine. So far, more than 3000 deaths have occurred from both sides in this war. It has been told that this war started when Hamas terrorists fired more than 5000 rockets towards Israel from the Gaza Strip, but the story is not as simple as it is shown. Israel is being considered a poor country in the media, but it has always been hiding the fact that how Israel exploited the Palestinians and, while appearing innocent in front of the world, kept a big game plan hidden behind its back, which is directly related to Jerusalem. And it is from politics.
Plan to gradually grab land by building a wall on Palestinian land:
Israel's construction of the West Bank barrier is part of a larger game plan. Although this barrier was built to prevent Palestinian terrorists from entering Israeli territory, but according to Israeli and other media reports, it violates Palestinian territory and rights, disrupts Palestinian communities, and hinders the possibility of a two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion in 2004 stating that the construction of the barrier was illegal under international law. Every year, the Israeli government allegedly kills more than 200 people in the mostly peaceful area of the West Bank so that it can gradually eliminate the Palestinians from that place and capture the West Bank along with the city of Jerusalem located in it.
A conspiracy to destroy Gaza by placing a gun on Hamas's shoulder:
Hamas, the organization that fires missiles at Israel every day, is actually a terrorist/militant organization fighting for the freedom of Palestine and the defense of Jerusalem, but Israeli journalists and media appear to be saying the opposite about Hamas.
In an article written by Israeli journalist Tal Schneider, he had told how the Israeli government indirectly made Hamas, which was just a small terrorist group, into such a big terrorist organization through the country of Egypt. The journalist further revealed that Israeli policy treats the Palestinian Authority (the political parties of the ordinary Palestinian people) as a burden and Hamas as an asset. Schneider said Netanyahu reportedly said during a meeting of his Likud party in 2018 that those who oppose a Palestinian state should support the transfer of funds to Gaza, as a way to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state. For this, separation will have to be maintained between the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza. For this reason, the Netanyahu government considers Hamas as the representative of Palestine instead of negotiating with any Palestinian political parties. Under the cover of missiles fired by Hamas, Israel gets an opportunity to bomb the Gaza Strip, which they had gradually transformed into an open prison. The common citizens and political parties of Palestine have continuously made it clear that they do not support Hamas, but despite this, the Israeli government has planned to destroy Gaza's hospitals, economy, food, water and electricity by attacking them. Is.
Hamas plans to suppress protests against Prime Minister Netanyahu with attacks:
World News In Hindi, Although Hamas and Israel call the articles of Israeli journalists false, the signs of their closeness keep appearing in front of people year after year. For the last three years, Israel's neutral and secular Jewish movements have been protesting against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against his theocratic and illegal policies. According to Israeli media, in order to protect his government, he always allowed Zionist Jews to enter the Al Aqsa compound in Jerusalem, where Jews are prohibited from going according to international law. Because of all these activities, the Israeli government succeeds in provoking Hamas and war starts between both sides. Because of this attack, this time too Netanyahu is trying to suppress the protests against him and save his power by instilling fake patriotism among the common citizens. Netanyahu's policy can also be gauged from the fact that according to reports, the world's deadliest intelligence agency, Mossad, was allowed to carry out this attack despite having any inkling of such a huge attack. According to The Times of Israel News Agency, the Egyptian intelligence agency had already warned Israel that Hamas was going to do something big, but the Israeli government had ignored it. Large protests against Netanyahu's trial over the COVID-19 pandemic and various corruption scandals were being seen a day before the Hamas attack but have now been postponed indefinitely.
Final plan to build Greater Israel and Temple Mount:
Apart from the political angle of the Israel-Palestine conflict, there is also a religious angle in which fundamentalist Jews and Muslims strongly believe. According to the media in the Middle East, fundamentalist Jews want to build the third and final temple of their God after demolishing all the Muslim and Christian religious sites located in the Al Aqsa complex, which is seen as the conquest of the world by the Jews. According to Zionist Jews, the Al Aqsa complex was built on top of the 2nd Temple of Solomon built by Jewish rulers. The Waqf Board, which operates the Al Aqsa complex, has given proof of this. Waqf said that ever since the Jews created Israel and illegally occupied the Palestinian land, the Jews have been trying to get access to the Al Aqsa complex and all the big countries are also seen supporting Israel in this. However, before the reconstruction of the Temple Mount, Israel also has a plan which it has talked about on big platforms. That plan is to completely annex Palestine and form Greater Israel. Greater Israel refers to a concept in which some Zionist Jews would annex all of Palestine, including parts of surrounding countries, to include a larger territory created by the State of Israel. Envisioning the expansion of controlled territory, the concept is often associated with the idea of Israel maintaining control over areas where there are significant Palestinian populations. Although the Israeli government does not support the concept of Greater Israel, you can also see it linked to the concept of a united India by fundamentalist Hindutva organizations.
International News and International News in Hindi, Talking about the current situation, the war does not seem to be stopping. The Israeli army has continued to bomb Gaza with all its might and has said that this time it will not let Gaza stand again. According to reports, the Israeli army has used weapons containing UN-banned white phosphorus gas towards Gaza, which causes irritation to the skin and lungs of any human being. No major country has yet come forward to criticize and stop the inhuman acts of the Israeli army that have been going on for so many years. Now it remains to be seen how long this will continue and when the destruction in Palestine will stop.

Social media is always evolving. This means trends and norms are changing and consistently swapped out. In 2023, currently, the state of social media focuses on matters such as the harm of spreading misinformation and being inclusive/using inclusive language when communicating to your audience. Ethics such as these can affect the way your audience reacts to your content, possibly driving people away from supporting you. Most notably, being unethical can affect the impact you make on your audience. For example, joining a company’s social media team like Target would require me to follow a code of ethics such as: fact-checking media prior to posting; promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion; being honest and transparent; and consistently reflecting Target’s image.
Brands/professionals with strong social media ethical codes: what brands are utilizing proper social media ethical practices? Are there any professionals that practice strong ethical behavior on social media? Support your choice with evidence. What are some takeaways you can bring forth in your own practices?
A company that practices strong social media ethics is Patagonia. On their social media align their mission to promoting environmental sustainability. They not only post content about their brand but also content educating their audience about the importance of sustainability. For example, they recently made a post educating their audience about issues happening in the Alaskan environment. Patagonia is also very transparent about how it could do better as a brand to see to its mission.
A social media influencer who practices ethical behavior is Tim Cook. On Twitter, he advocates for digital safety as well as human rights. Cook also is very transparent with his consumers educating them on digital privacy. In a tweet, he explains to his followers
Cook and Patagonia both exemplify the importance of being transparent with your audience. They not only promote their own agenda but also the raw and authentic truth they know their audience should know.
I believe that as a social media user it’s necessary to adhere to concepts such as transparency, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), fact-checked content, and authenticity.
I would make sure to avoid participating in hate speech, harassment, spreading misinformation, and not being considerate of people’s identities.
Additionally, as for myself, as a social media professional, I will practice the following:
Fact-checking
Transparency with my audience
Authentic content
Be and use inclusive language
Create a communicative dialogue between my audience and I

I'll Make You Believe
While the whole "asking a ghost how they died is the worst taboo ever, so don't do it or you'll be in a world of hurt" headcanon is always fun to implement to either create temporary conflict or simply move the story along, I think it'd work just as well on both ends if it was only a minor offense.
Like if you were to ask a once living ecto being how they died the most negative response you'd get would either be some variation of "None of your business puny mortal" or an explanation using the most vividly graphic, stomach turning details as an act of petty revenge as well as insurance you never ask again.
So what could possibly be a way more serious, far more dangerous no-no when it comes to ghosts instead? Well, how about stating ghosts don't exist/there's no such things as ghosts? The reason why being you're invalidating the trauma they've experienced in their last moments.
Makes no difference whether you were aware of this or not. If they find out or worse, it's said to their face? You better hope they'll settle for beating you black-and-blue. Because the alternative is becoming a ghost yourself by the time they're done with you.
Now in dpxyj fics when Danny interacts with Wally and the whole "ghost are/aren't real" argument between them comes into play it's usually depicted as a trivial disagreement. But what if you were to make it more angsty by inserting this take on lack of ghostly etiquette?
Let's say after getting to know his teammates better Danny starts talking about his origins (in vague detail) and exploits, only to eventually be interrupted by Kid Flash declaring that he can't possibly be a ghost as they don't exist. And Robin, Aqualad, Miss Martian, and Superboy all become quite alarmed watching Danny go from easygoing to looking ready to beat Kid Flash to a pulp, as he's now fighting back his ghostly nature. To avoid giving in to the urge he abruptly leaves with a dismissive attitude, much to KF's confusion.
From there it spirals. KF, not realizing he's poking a hornets nest continuing to voice his skepticism whenever the opportunity comes up and each time Danny barely manages to keep it together. Until one day Danny in an explosive rage snatches up KF and in a tone colder than ice tells him he knows what he is, what he went through to reach that state, and that he has no need to justify any of it to him.
Then he leaves once more before he really loses it. Before going after him Miss Martian informs KF of how Danny opened his mind to her and that for his sake she hopes he never shares those memories of what he went through with him. Feeling bad now, KF tries to apologize once Danny returns. Which results in failure again and again since Danny keeps giving him the cold shoulder.
After having yet another apology disregarded KF, in mounting frustration blurts out that he wishes he understood what has Danny so convinced he's a ghost, unaware a certain wish twisting genie he was warned about had been invisibly lurking in the vicinity the instant Danny was elsewhere. Along with the rest of the regulars, as soon as KF's denials had spread to the Ghost Zone Desiree was on the warpath, intent on showing just how real ghosts truly were. By sheer spite and determination she beat everyone else to him, just in time to hear him say the forbidden word, presenting her with the perfect means of retribution.
With a "So you have wished it so shall it be" KF is magically transported to an underwater submarine, occupied by Black Manta. Unable to run as freely without potentially damaging the sub and causing it to flood, the fight upon his unexpected arrival is drawn out to the point KF starts to feel his hyper metabolism weakening him. It's when he's close to dying of starvation that one of the more incompetent goons sends him crashing into the stash of ectoplasm Manta had smuggled with the intent of using it to pollute the waters of Aquaman's Kingdom. The last thing KF sees before blacking out is Desiree looming over him with a smirk of satisfaction.

If we do ever get a Reva spin-off show (or movie, whatever), I would like to put it out there that it shouldn't have a SINGLE cameo. Not one. No Rebels characters, no Sequels characters, no Force ghosts, no Ahsoka, no Luke or Leia, no other Jedi survivors, NOBODY. No cameos, just Reva and a cast of original characters.

Every day, I get more and more embarrassed to say that I enjoy Helluva Boss (despite the many MANY flaws) and that I'm excited for Hazbin Hotel.
I've been following both of these projects since the pilots were released and I've happily keeping up with all the new episodes of Helluva and with all the Hazbin announcements.
But of course, because of the nature of both projects, the humor, the artsyle, the release nature, the pilots being released on YouTube, it attracted a HUGE audience who think they're entitled to do and say anything they want. Not to mention how many vitriolic haters it attracted too.
You can't defend the new cast without people loosing their shit over how the new cast "doesn't fit the characters like the pilot cast". People can't defend the new cast without putting down the pilot cast either as seen with people bashing Michael Kovach for being a bad singer when that isn't objectively true.
We can't go one week with some Vivziepop anti on Twitter pulling false accusations out of their ass trying to bash Vivenne Medrano for being a horrible witch who doesn't pay her team.
You can't criticize ANYTHING Vivienne Medrano does or any aspect of her shows without a legion of diehard stans who defend her every move and every writing decision made even tho the writing in Helluva Boss is objectively a mess.
The closer Hazbin gets to its release date the more rapidly people spew out hate from BOTH SIDES and its ruining the experience for those of us who just want to have a good time.
This is like the Voltron fandom but worse and Hazbin hasn't even been fucking released yet. I'm ready to just watch the show and stay in my lane without interacting with the fandom because this shit is exhausting. I've never seen so much drama over a show that hasn't EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET. I wanted to get Hazbin merch but now I don't want to cause I don't wanna be associated with the mountains of shit both the fandom and the hatedom continue to cause.
Fuck this. I was excited for Hazbin's release and now I'm honestly dreading it. So much for faithfully following the series for like 5 years.

I KNOW this is just delusional blabber but how good would it have been if after Whole Cake Island Sanji started to flubber & swish around Luffy the way he does with the ladies?!
It would've been SO CUTE AGH!
"Luffy-kyun! You have taken a shower, good job💕"
"Ah~ Luffy-chwan looking cute and dashing this morning as well! No stealing food though~"
And when Luffy is on the battlefield you always have a split second of Sanji in the background twirling his heart out before going about his business o(〒﹏〒)o
