Three Ships:

Percabeth - I just want to see them happy and fulfilled forever and ever. They have been through so much they deserve their peace

Cedric/Harry - I wasn't into it until I accidentally made myself into it; and I only love it if Ginny is with Luna and happy

Miraculous Love Square - is it even a square anymore? Between Multimouse and Catwalker and Aspik it's such a lovely polyhedron. I am obsessed with identity shenanigans and hidden, double-meaning comments. Also very dumb cute idiots who don't realize they're in love.

Last Film:

Just saw Killers of the Flower Moon in theaters. It was a very heavy film, and very long. But it was also really good.

Currently Watching:

Doctor Who. Doing a rewatch to catch up before the new specials and the new doctor. I am... not quite going to make it but I'm going to get very close

Currently Reading:

Grendel by John Gardner. I'm supposed to teach it in a couple days and I should probably do a bit more than read the summary and the william blake poem that the epigraph comes from

Just finished a lovely shrimp pasta. It was wonderfully satisfying

Cinnamon rolls. They're waiting on the stove, ready for the morning, but I really want one now.

What are you auditioning for? Is it a show or like general program auditions?

It’s a school!!! Sorta like a community college deal execpt not really, and I was not very smart and did not start planning for this until last week and the auditions are in March so that was not very good of me

Which book had the best cover art, in your opinion?

Rebel of the Sands is absolutely gorgeous.

Is there any character that you feel you relate to? Why?

Radu from And I Darken. I identified with him so strongly.

Who/what introduced you to book 3?

I had to read The Brothers Karamazov for an English class - never would have picked it up otherwise (wasn’t a huge fan of Crime and Punishment which I’d previously read) but I’m so glad I read it!

If you could live in any of the worlds of the books, which would you choose and why?

Um... most of these worlds would really suck to live in, to be honest. I think A Wizard of Earthsea is the only one where I wouldn’t be stuck with misogyny/instant death/cursed by the devil. A Wizard of Earthsea it is.

In book six, do you have any fancasts?

Nope. Wasn’t a fan of the book, so I didn’t really put much thought into it - I don’t really do fancasts in general unless I’m like, completely head over heels in love with a book. And even then...

Explain the plot of book 1 in less than ten words:

The untold tales of World War II.

How do you think the antagonist in book 4 would dress to university?

Uh... tailored clothing that practically bleeds wealth, with a sword slung along just ‘cause.

If you can give the main character in book 2 any advice, what would it be?

Hubris. Don’t do it.

Three. It was okay.

Last read: For fun, I just finished I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuinston, which was a lovely ode to growing up queer in high school and also a chaotic enemies to lovers ride, paired with a truckload of religious trauma; for work I just finished teaching Andersen's "The Little Mermaid" which was lovely to discuss with my students

Current read: for fun, I'm in the middle of Self-Made Boys by Anna-Marie McLemore which I am LOVING. It's an enthusiastic queer retelling of Gatsby with commentary on identity and its relationship to the unjust systems we're forced to participate in. Though I want to reread The Great Gatsby before I get too much farther into it, since there are bits popping up that I THINK are textual references but I'm unsure and I want to annotate the hell out of both things. I'm also reading Teaching to Transgress by Bell Hooks, hoping to improve my patience and practice with unpacking systemic injustice in my classroom, and I'm re-reading Oedipus Rex for the first time since college in preparation to teach it next week... that one will be interesting.

Next Read: For work, I'm reading The Equity and Social Justice Education: 50 Critical Questions for Improving Opportunities and Outcomes for Black Students by Baruti K. Kafele, which should be interesting to discuss in my work book-group; another coworker handed me The Cross and the Lynching Tree by James H. Cone, which is a confrontation of how Christianity has been used to support violent racism for hundreds of years. I also will be reading Catcher in the Rye in preparation for teaching it next month, since it was overwhelmingly the novel my students wanted to read this year.

i can juggle

i was in advanced reading classes up until middle school, and i was doing all 4th grade work when i was in the 3rd grade, they just didn’t wanna move me up because of “social connections” or whatever

i saw the play “the unfortunates” on it’s premiere in ashland, oregon, and it was one of the best shows ever. it’s touring now, so when it becomes a big huge deal like it deserves, i’m gonna brag that i saw it on the first ever opening, and that i have the CD signed by the 4 guys who wrote/composed it

i have been to these countries: america, canada, mexico, belize, honduras, france, england, germany, austria, italy, croatia (though not for long #serbianpride), and SERBIA (THE MOTHERLAND)

my father is an immigrant

i once was the closer of a fashion show on a cruise ship
