It's that day again! Tagged by @dear-massacre; here's a snippet I wrote today from my Feral Peter S1 AU for this year's @steter-bang! I'm getting close to the end on this fic now, and I'm going to miss writing it! It's honestly been a ton of fun.
He tries to think about the positive side of things - it’s clearly not a fluke that Peter wants him. With the seriousness that Derek described mating, and the two amazing kisses that they’ve shared so far, Stiles can surmise that Peter is just as into this as he is. And that - that’s everything that Stiles has ever wanted. Someone who wants him just as much.
His dad clearly thinks of him as a burden. Scott was quick to ditch him for Allison, and now even for Derek and his werewolf training. Lydia never gave him the time of day until she needed him to make a point at the dance, and even then it was obvious she didn’t care about him the way he used to care about her.
Peter’s his match. There’s no doubt about it. They go toe-to-toe. Peter values a lot of the same things that Stiles does, and supports him even on things that he doesn’t understand, like his taste in movies (the comparison to Peter’s favorites had not worked out, though Peter sat through all the current Marvel movies anyway). And Stiles wants to support him just as much. He’s never hunted deer before, never been interested, but last night just felt right, the way everything has with Peter.
He doesn’t have to put up pretenses around him. He can be more vulnerable with Peter than with anyone else, and who better to protect him than an alpha werewolf? Everything else just seems short-sighted. What does school, or lacrosse, or hanging out with Scott matter in the face of having a perfect match? Some people go their entire lives without finding something like what Stiles has with Peter. He’s not going to throw that away.
In time, they’ll understand. Or they’ll lose him, like Stiles told his dad earlier. It would hurt, Stiles thinks, to walk away from the life that he’s had so far in Beacon Hills. But not as much as losing Peter would hurt. He knows that for sure, because his chest aches just at the thought of it. Funny enough, his first instinct at feeling that pain in his chest is to howl.

When he wakes, feeling movement under him and looks up into Peter Hale’s half-shifted face, he reflects that it was probably a bad decision. The man looks worse for wear, still wearing the tattered dress clothes that he’d initially shown up to the formal in. His eyes glow bright red as he looks down, hearing Stiles’ gasp or sensing some other indication that he woke up, and Stiles screams.
However, Peter doesn’t ask anything of him. He just moves, quicker than lightning, and sinks his fangs into Stiles’ wrist around the small cut he’d just created. Stiles screams in the most confusing storm of pain and pleasure he’s ever experienced, but it’s quickly overshadowed by the howl that Peter releases as soon as he lets go of Stiles’ wrist. His fangs drip Stiles’ own blood back down to his body, and it’s like the world’s most perverted baptism. Stiles is born anew. Or perhaps he is gone; consumed fully and with something entirely different taking his place.

I was REALLY feeling the traditional book cover vibes so i tried to emulate those funky lil novels youd pick up at an old bookfair that was clearly intended for an audience your age but many years before you were around that someone has lovingly offered up to go to a new home.

Another WIP Wednesday already! Here’s a little bit from the ranch AU I’m writing for the @steter-bang :)
Gerard smiles, and it makes Peter shudder. He’s never seen a more unpleasant smile in his life.
“Now, be reasonable, Peter. Times are tough. We’re all just waiting on a fire to get too close, the animals to get sick, the winter to be too long. One of these days, you could be begging me to take this ranch off your hands.”
Peter saunters closer. “Even if every one of my cows died, my land was charred black, and we were literally the last two ranchers on the planet, I wouldn’t sell this ranch to you,” he says evenly.
“Now you listen to me,” Argent starts, but then he stops, eyes narrowing at something over Peter’s shoulder.
Peter looks around, and there’s Stiles, standing by the corner of the house, looking like he’d like to turn right around and head back the way he came.
“Sorry,” Stiles says, “Didn’t mean to interrupt.”
“Figures you’d wash up here,” Argent snarls at him. “It would take a worthless operation like this to take you on board.”
“That’s a lot of sailor metaphors for a place as landlocked as this,” Stiles replies.

My I present my remix fic for the @steter-bang. Adara wrote a cute meet-ugly fic from Peter's POV, and so I decided to write it from Stile's POV and add in a probably unnecessary amount of world building (that's what I do... I can't help it!)

Summary:
Peter Hale didn’t intend on becoming a children’s book author. Life had become monotonous and, dare he say, too well-adjusted. The territory was stable, he had friends (if you counted his overeager editor), and he finally had a not-entirely-hate relationship with his nephew. But going back to writing mysteries and thrillers? It just wasn’t happening.
Stiles definitely intended to become an illustrator because being an office worker was [soul-crushing and exhausting and] not what he’d envisioned. And on top of that, he’s undergoing treatment for Chronic Magical Drain, so art is his respite. When he wins an illustration contest, it feels like everything is looking up.
Then he gets to TW Publishing’s San Francisco office… and Peter fucking Hale is sitting across from him. [WIP, M, 12.9k]

Okay, let's face it, I'm never going to remember to post my w.i.p. on W.I.P. Wednesday, so here's
Later that night Stiles was laying down on his bed - a real bed! - listening to Claudia-23's breathing. The party had been surprisingly okay, and Stiles had even tried out several new foods. He was particularly proud of trying fried, spicy insects, which he had actually liked quite a lot.
Claudia-23, powered by a nap and a bottle of formula, had predictably wrapped everyone around her tiny little finger and even gifted Scott with spit-up down his shirt collar. Stiles had rewarded her with kisses for that, just for the look on his new brother's face.
And most importantly, Stiles had managed to smuggle a little bit of food to start a new food stash. He'd somehow even gotten a few packets of formula powder for Claudia-23.
It had taken a good chunk of time to figure out a place for it, his new room being all sleek panels, but eventually he had figured out his closet's bottom would come loose with bit of prying and he could hide the food there.
He and Claudia-23 wouldn't go hungry again.

I always miss wip wednesday bc I only see the reminders the day after thanks to timezones, but well 😂😂
Also! I'm mostly done with my Steter Bang entry and the story only needs a bit of polishing now (I think), so I want to celebrate a bit!

The smell of blood and excrement greeted him just as he crossed the threshold and while the smell made him shudder, the obvious reason let him smile.
Soon the fading scent of pain and fear mixed into the bouquet of death and torment and when he stepped out of the shadows of one of the large rusty tanks he was greeted by a fascinating sight:
Stiles sat in the middle of the room, legs crossed, supporting himself with his hands on the ground behind him. Around him were bodies, lots of bodies. His and Peter's heartbeats were the only ones Peter could hear inside. The bodies were mostly clean to Peter’s surprise. Well, at least clean of blood despite the smell hanging heavy in the air.
Curious.
Then he saw the wall Stiles was looking at, smiling serenely and very content.
"Let me guess," Peter said, walking over to the witch and holding out the bag with food. "That's Argent?"
"Well, you could say it's abstract art now, but yes, that was Gerard."
Peter huffed, amused, letting Stiles' grabby hands pull the bag out of his grip as he kicked one of the bodies aside to sit down next to him.
"That looks a lot like a grudge. And I'm not judging. More admiring your handiwork. Talia will hate it. Be prepared for lots of shouting."

I technically have a massive list of WIPs and Prompts I am constantly working from. I pick the ideas when they feel happy in my brain for "free time" writing - I actually meant to work on the office sex AU for the month of december but got whacked upside the head with Addabge Dmaddiage. UMS was my FIRST "long fic" ever so I am... feeling really, really invigorated.
in 2021 I climbed out of my writing hole where I hadn't written seriously in over a decade. That year, I wrote and shared 22,418 words by myself, and wrote half of a 69,599 (incomplete, part 1) role-play fic with a friend. At the start of 2022, I watched teen wolf for the first time because @sinnabon-cosplay is a menace and can't be stopped. It lit an absolute FIRE beneath me and I lost all control of my life. I started writing and drawing with a wholly renewed fury. I started doing way more events and wrote and posted 40,247 words. At the end of the year, I thought to myself - wow, wouldn't it be cool if i doubled my word count again? 80k? haha, that probably won't happen though. I'll be excited if I write and post 60k.
YALL. I wrote and posted 60k in ONE FIC. I wrote and posted over 120k?????? that's INSANE to me. I haven't had that much drive to create since I was in high school.
Teen Wolf is like... fixing my brain chemistry. I feel so invigorated.
Despite some setbacks with some REALLY unfortunate Sterek fans at the start of my experience here nearly tanking my creative drive, I've managed to stay on track without totally losing my love for the ship because of some rotten eggs. Shoutout to all my homies keeping the space worth hanging around in. I appreciate yall so much <3
