Me and my coworkers went on strike yesterday!
We and 110 other Starbucks around the US went on strike on Red Cup Day to protest against corporate’s unfair labor practices and refusal to bargain with us in good faith. It was our first strike and went very very well but we would love some help in replenishing our lost wages for that day!
Any little bit helps, and if you can’t donate, reblog! Thank you!!

I have realized that my store has gotten a reputation of getting people agitated to hell, makes organizing other cafes easier when they come in and see how shit we're treated and how small the space is

I got fired from my job wrongfully during unionization. I’m a disabled, single mom, with generalized anxiety disorder, pervasive depression, adhd/autism. My financial situation has been precarious at best after leaving my abusive marriage, and now I am forced out of my tenured position. Starbucks ain’t shit, they don’t care about their partners who create massive profits for the company.

For about a year I was the head writer of a renegade barista newsletter. At the time we were very covert, working undercover since at least 2 of the baristas had already been illegally fired by Starbucks for trying to unionize. Now that my own home store is finally in Starbucks Workers United (2021-forever) I’m proud to share some of the things I’m written. So here’s a short story about the worst snow day I’ve ever had. If you’re not pro union you probably won’t like this, sorry loser.

Howard Schultz’s union busting effects every worker, not just Starbucks workers- this can set precedent to harm the entire labor movement.
Use signal for your private organizing communications, clear old convos and stay frosty comrades.

I had my Les Mis moment yesterday at a Labor Day sip-in at a unionizing Starbucks. I went with comrades and we planned a campaign, got distracted by romance, and drank too much (coffee). Literally ABC Café minus some singing.
AND MY SOCIALIST “PARENTS” (the two ppl who got me into organizing) ARE DATING EACH OTHER NOW???? WHAT??? What a day!

We believe that Starbucks should be a workplace where all workers have a democratic voice. Starbucks workers, current and former, should be recognized for making Starbucks the successful company it is today. Food service workers across the country deserve better working conditions, and our union’s goal is advancing social and economic justice in our community. Our union’s values will be inclusiveness, compassion, joy, creativity, respect, and solidarity.

Jose Martinez has lived and worked in the United States since he was 14 years old. Now 67, he drives around the Yakima Valley in Washington state checking on fellow workers.
“When it’s hot, do you have a place to protect yourself from the sun and heat?” he calls out to some workers on the side of an apple orchard on a sunny…
