Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)
SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 4): General Bracket Match 6
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sabé | Identity: bisexual | Media: Queen’s Trilogy/Darth Vader comics
Sabé, born Tsabin, was a member of a family of musicians who set their daughter on the same path. However, she was only skilled enough to ever have a supporting role and instead volunteered to be one of Queen Amidala’s handmaidens. She became Padmé’s most trusted operative, pretending to be the Queen during the Invasion of Naboo. After Padmé’s term as queen ended, she remained her operative and worked with Tonra, a member of Naboo’s security force, to attempt to free slaves on Tatooine. They eventually made contact with the White Suns, a Tatioone slave liberation movement. When the Clone Wars began, Sabé once again acted as Padmé’s decoy when Padmé was away from Coruscant conducting an investigation. There she learned Anakin and Padmé were married. However, to make sure Padmé didn’t have her closest confidant, Palpatine blasted Sabé’s brain with the Dark Side until she didn’t want to work closely with Padmé anymore. Sabé spent the rest of the war helping the White Suns.
After Padmé died, Sabé founded an organization known as the Amidalans- a rebel cell consisting of Naboo (including some of the other handmaidens), who sought to avenge Padmé. They attempted to assassinate Vader (who they deemed responsible) on multiple occasions. Sabé focused on deception, pretending to work with Vader to find Padmé’s killer and infiltrating Crimson Dawn. Until she figured out that Vader was Anakin. Remembering how Padmé’s last words (which had been recorded) was “There’s still good in [Anakin]”, she decided to actually become Vader’s operative. Her given reason was that the Empire and Vader did bring order to the galaxy, but it is just as likely she is following her queen’s last order to attempt to bring the man she loved back to the light. She remained by Vader’s side even when her fellow handmaidens came to “rescue” her. Her last appearance in the comics was Vader abandoning her on a beach until she could decide to fully commit to the Dark Side (emotionally speaking).
Sabé had crushes on a handful of people and even a romantic relationship with Tonra, but her most important was her romantic love for Padmé. These feelings were requited, with Queen’s Hope creating a love triangle where Sabé represented ideology and duty and Anakin was selfish love. As we know, Padmé chose Anakin, but a deciding factor was Sabé’s self esteem being temporarily shattered by Palpatine. Her wider moral view seems to have degraded after spending over two decades focusing on avenging Padmé instead of joining the wider Rebellion. However, even working for the Empire, she hasn’t gone completely evil yet- doing things like pretending to kill a bunch of refugees to gain their loyalty instead of actually killing them.
Matthea “Matty” Cathley | Identity: wlw | Media: The High Republic Phase II
Matty Cathley was the talkative (and ADHD-coded) padawan of Master Leebon, the Jedi Order’s representative to Jedha’s convocation of the Force. Matty was assigned to introduce Vildar Mac to Jedha, causing her to spend the lead up to and the Battle of Jedha by his side. She ended up defending the bar Enlightenment from rioters and enforcer droids. During the battle, her master was consumed by the Leveler. Vildar became her new master. After the battle, she was assigned to investigate the Path of the Open Hand with Oliviah Zeveron. She had a crush on Oliviah, and the mission reignited that. However, she was eventually able to process her star-struckness. Their investigation put them right in the middle of the Night of Sorrow. During the battle, when being attacked by the Leveler, Matty was able to push through its fear effect.

[FIC] To Be Free Once More (That's Worth Fighting For) ~ Star Wars: Prequels ~ Fox/Obi-Wan ~ Mature ~ Ch 14/15
Title: To Be Free Once More (That's Worth Fighting For) Fandom: Star Wars Prequel Era Series: Your Hands Protect the Flame Author: Batsutousai Rating: Mature Warnings: Alternate Universe, Qui-Gon survives, Jedi Shadow!Obi-Wan, Jedi culture positive, Coruscant Guard deserve better, clone trooper dehumanisation, institutional abuse, discrimination, learning to trust, Jedi and clone trooper relationships, strangers to friends to lovers, idiots in love, trans/nonbinary/agender clone troopers, trans/nonbinary/agender Jedi, character deaths (Palpatine, some Corries, offscreen Jedi OCs; more detail in notes of relevant chapters) Summary: As a Jedi Shadow, Obi-Wan hadn't expected to have much to do with the clone troopers. Until, suddenly, he does.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Palpatine was well-placed, when Obi-Wan found them, held up by a varied group of senators and their attendants, with two cam-droids hovering with interest around the scene, clearly recording some flavour of political drama that was relevant to the interests of those who kept better tabs on the Senate's activities than Obi-Wan.
He wasn't certain what gave him away, but Palpatine's head jerked up and around, kind smile vanishing behind a show of surprise.
"Sheev Palpatine," Obi-Wan called across the space separating them, tried not to notice Fox's head jerking up and around, or the way their Force-presence filled with a desperate hope, "you're under arrest for multiple counts of treason against the Galactic Republic."
Palpatine's expression twisted with rage for a heartbeat, before he got it under control. "Knight Kenobi," he bit out. "I'd heard you'd died."
"No," Obi-Wan returned, flashing a sharp smile. "I'm afraid your little plot to murder Count Dooku on the way back from Florrum failed. He was quite happy to tell me all about how you've been passing him information about GAR movements."
The senators, their aides, and other beings who happened to be in the hallway had all shuffled back, leaving Palpatine standing alone, only Fox remaining at his side, while the cam-droids had multiplied, and other Jedi and troopers had joined the audience.
"The lies of a man desperate to–" Palpatine started.
"We found your secret office," Even interrupted, as he and Mace stepped forward to bracket Obi-Wan. "Both the one with the comm you've been using to speak with him, Nute Gunray, and other known leaders of the Separatists, and the one in the warehouse with two escape crafts and a small army of droids."
Obi-Wan could almost sense Palpatine's mind racing, weighing the likelihood of him managing to convince anyone of his innocence.
And then he smiled, just a little sharp, and said, "Execute Order Thirty-seven."

Also included in the starred wars One-shot lineup is Kayfour, a cowardly BB unit who really spends time yelling and getting underfoot like an excitable dog.
Everything they say will be translated in brackets "<like this>" because it's so disappointing to me when the characters can understand the Droid binary but as an audience member I only can through context clues and what the other characters say in response

after that poll earlier, i looked up the years for my childhood computer games, because people kept adding things to the list that seemed too "recent" to me. the poll was supposedly aimed at older millennials, and i am the very end of the millennial bracket (i am currently 27), but nevertheless my offerings:
star wars droid works (1998)
lego loco (1998) and lego chess (1998)
age of empires (1997), age of empires II: age of conquerors (2000)
midtown madness (1999) (this was a favourite with my sibling but i was very bad at it)
once again i am concluding that based purely on my childhood exposure to computer games, my age should be estimated at about 4-6 years older than my actual age

Star Wars Tournament - Round 3
Sorry to be a litle late in posting this update but here is your latest bracket with your Round 2 winners! This week we have 4 games to decide our division champs. These decisions are the toughest yet, believe me!
To vote in Round 3 click here.
Round 2 results and this week’s game breakdown are under the cut below. Have fun voting!!
Tumblr media
Round 2 Results
Din Djarin 100% vs. Chewbacca 0%
Poe Dameron 81.8% vs. Han Solo 18.2%
R2-D2 54.5% vs. Boba Fett 45.5%
BB-8 70% vs. Padme Amidala 30%
Grogu 90.9% vs. Yoda 9.1%
Obi-Wan Kenobi 54.5% vs. Leia Organa 45.5%
Darth Vader 81.8% vs. Moff Gideon 18.2%
Darth Maul 90% vs. Emperor Palpatine 10%
Biggest surprises in Round 2 were the defeat of Boba Fett at the droid arms of R2-D2 and Obi-Wan’s final showing against Leia. Also shout-out to the person who called Round 2 Maul’s Revenge, you definitely called it.
Tumblr media
Round 3 Games
This brings us to our showdowns for the division champions.
Game 1 Certified Good Bois Club: Sweet Boy Showdown - Which heartthrob has won you over for all time?
Din Djarin vs. Poe Dameron -  I know for a lot of you this is an impossible choice as they are both ultimate Star Wars boyfriends/husbands/best friends. Poe is our sweet, slightly bad boy that many of us blush over or simply want as our bro. He would be a blast to hang out with and I’m sure he’d flirt with you even if it’s just for fun. However, the love for Din is insanely strong and while I think this will be Din’s tightest game yet, I still predict our hunky space dad will be victorious.
Tumblr media
Game 2 Can’t Do it Without Us Cantina: Battle Bots - Which droid will you choose for your sidekick?
R2-D2 vs. BB-8 - It’s time to answer the ultimate Star Wars droid question, do you go with the classic or the new? I predict that the OG droid badass R2-D2 is going to take this one, but everyone’s love for adorable pal BB-8 is strong. I was surprised how easily BB-8 took down Padme, so we do have the potential for an upset here.
Tumblr media
Game 3 Space Wizards Hangout: Adorable Annihilation - Which of these cuties has stolen your heart?
Grogu Djarin vs. Obi-Wan Kenobi - I find both of these two Jedi insanely cute. Grogu is quite literally the most adorable baby I have ever seen and I have so much Grogu merch at this point I should be embarrassed but I’m not. Obi-Wan is cute in that I want to kiss his stupid gorgeous face and then marry him. I think Obi-Wan will make this a slightly more competitive game but Grogu will crush him in the end. (I’m making an early prediction that Grogu takes this whole thing.)
Tumblr media
Game 4 The Evil Lair: Darth-off - Which Sith is the sithiest?
Darth Vader vs. Darth Maul - Ooh this is one of the matches I was hoping for because I’m really curious to see how it plays out. I would say that I think Vader is going to emerge the winner here, but so many of y’all love Maul so much that I feel this is sure to be a close one.

As always, have a great time voting! Here’s the link again so you don’t have to scroll up.

The Rise of Skywalker: Expanded Reaction Episode I (spoilers ahead)
Approaching a Saga that I love and a film that I hate with equal parts passion and compassion.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I must preface my opinions with the one central point of view that has never wavered: You can be a Star Wars fan and a film critic simultaneously. I think the POV where the critics like a Star Wars film and the fans don’t, and people counter with “Critics, you don’t know what you’re talking about especially with Star Wars movies. You don’t know anything. Go away” is absolute garbage. I also think the opposite point of view, Diode if you will, is trash where fans like a film, critics don’t, and “fans don’t know what there talking about.” Those, I believe, are the only trash POVs as it relates to Star Wars. Everything else is fandom.
Likes (from the very big to the very detailed)
John Williams score. John Williams guided us through the film with subtly and passion. Even when things were happening on screen that I didn't like, I felt my feelings soften and shift because of the score. He composed a lot of what would have otherwise been chaos.
C-P3O: comedy comes from character, and Disney SW utilized 3PO in the best light I've ever seen him for that purpose. “Babo Frick, one of my oldest friends” was such a triumphant example. Also, in general, the humor in this film from all ensemble characters landed really well, such as “they fly now” and “what were you going to tell Rey...or is now not a good time.” I also liked the humor in The Last Jedi, but a lot of people didn't. I think that came down to TLJ execution where some of the humor felt too earthly “of the moment” and somehow the conversation turned humor into a taboo, where as RoS kept the humor classic and classy.
The banter between Rey, Poe, and Finn. Finally, I felt invested in the bond of these characters, which gave me stakes to win or lose. It took three films to set up unfortunately, but I the aforementioned Finn and Poe digging at each other and the opening between Rey and Poe – What did you do to my droid? What did you do to my ship? - really sold me on the fact that this movie might have, if not plot continuity, then emotional continuity.
Han Solo. What can I say guys, I'm a sucker for full circle, volta bracket (forgive me if my music theory analogy is wrong) story devices. It didn't necessarily make sense, but poetic beauty won and hit me in the feels. When Ben said “dad” and launched that Red Lightsaber into the stratosphere, it provided such a huge sense of catharsis I was brimming with tears.  FULL POST HERE.
The “Dyad” in the Force: Kylo and Rey’s relationship. If the Force was sentient it would have said all along: I've created my own balance in the form of two people, why are you trying to mess it up? That's as close to a direct message as I have ever gotten from the Force, expressed in themes from TFA and TLJ which culminated Luke's lightsaber blowing up in the tug of war thrown room scene. For all the people saying “another hookie, new lore, unfounded concept brought to you by Disney,” no, I feel like that's been fairly consistent. In my opinion, this is just another iteration of a recurring element in all over Star Wars: both Light and Dark side, Jedi Master/ Sith Lord and Apprentice. This is just a first time that its been a light side-dark side pair where neither are masters and all the Rise of Skywalker did was gave it a name and called it a dyad and part of what the force has needed for balance. I felt really invested in the “Reylo” dynamic. and while I was never entrenched in one specific outcome for Ben and Rey, all the possibilities were intriguing. This is perhaps the element in the sequel trilogy that was most consistently addressed in all the episodes, and it paid off for me.
The visual imagery. Say what you will about Force FedEx #that’snothowtheForceworks, but it makes for some beautiful action sequences and incredibly framed, colored, and illuminated still shots, that fired up a lot on interest in the spectacle of Star Wars even prior to IX's release.
Kylo Ren's arc. Full appreciation post HERE. Kylo / Ben Solo is undoubtedly my favorite character of the Disney trilogy, in part due the that fact that his story has tracked the most consistently throughout three films, and also because I've always been a fan of complex antagonists. His arc's been psychologically interesting, to the point where I would have been perfectly fine with Kylo, as Supreme leader, being the main antagonist of RoS instead of Palpatine. Also, Adam Driver acts the h*** out of Ben Solo too, even though after he “turns” he has no dialogue. It's all carried on acting, and its stone cold believable.
The Leia training flashback with Luke. It added a new take on the classic trilogy that was the one big element where this movie swung for the fences on risk-taking and it paid off for me.
The *idea* of Leia being Rey’s training master. Fragmented speech aside, JJ's team did the best they could with what they had of Carrie Fisher to execute a wonderful pairing in the Force. Whether or not the best way to honor Carrie was to use the Last Jedi footage or to pass the baton in order to finish the character that she made an icon, is a healthy debate, but the best intentions were glowing.
Expanding the intricacies of Force visitation. Colloquially, the “Force Skype” from The Last Jedi, has evolved into “Force FedEx.” Even though the stage was set for this in TLJ, when Kylo touches water from the Ahch-to ocean, some people won't like this, and I totally get that. It makes many plot expediting elements easy. But admittedly, I will deal with that because it makes for some amazing iconic fight visuals. The throne room scene is still top of the trilogy, but I have to admit that when you Force FedEx a lightsaber – it makes for a fantastic mic drop.
The lightsaber fight on the Death Star wreckage. This was my favorite confrontation in RoS, ironically no Force FedEx required. The contrast of fighting style is never more apparent, Rey jumping over waves, Kylo walking through them with brute force of will. Then somewhere along the way the styles flip, Kylo's becomes more artful and Rey's more brutal (not unlike Palpatine's aggressive form) when she knows she's about to be beaten.
Kylo Ren's death blow simultaneously with Leia's death, book-ended by the fact that Leia did not become one with the Force until Ben did too. It's creative liberty to be sure, no other Force ghost transition has been like that, but it worked for me.
Best acted movie of the new trilogy overall by all the cast, parts large and small. You can tell that everyone involved made it with love.
The payoff of Finn's force-sensitivity that we got in Force Awakens mostly makes up for the pain of poor, half-retconned broom kid. We get backstory of other storm trooper deserters that we spirited from their home worlds which become broom kid substitutes. I'm also glad at the payoff of Finn joining the resistance culminated in becoming a co-leader with Poe.
Remember that one throwaway in The Last Jedi that a very vocal group (myself excluded) hated because Luke did it in exile and despair? Rise of Skywalker has an appropriate answer. When Ben throws away his cross-guard lightsaber into the waves of Death Star debris, as a mirror image to Luke but with hope, we get a very iconic moment.

Queer Star Wars Characters (Round 1): Well Known Characters Bracket Match 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Garazeb Orrelios | Identity: mlm | Media: Star Wars Rebels
Since it’s a TV show, I’m going to assume that people already know about the relationship between Zeb and Kallus. Unfortunately, there are no fun EU tidbits to share. But as a reminder, Zeb and Kallus’ relationship being romantic hasn’t been officially confirmed via word of god. However, it has a level of textual support greater than any other popular slash ship (and similar to other canon ships), hence his inclusion in this bracket.
Wilhuff Tarkin | Identity: mlm | Media: Established in “Of MSE-6 and Men”
Yes really, freaking Tarkin is gay (or bi). The short story “Of MSE-6 and Men” in From A Certain Point of View tells from the point of view of a mouse droid how TK-421, the stormtrooper that Luke steals the armor of, becomes the sugar baby of the “most powerful person on the Death Star”. This can only be Tarkin (he also has Tarkin’s voice in the audiobook). Tarkin was the first movie character to be retconned into being queer, but thankfully he’s no longer the only one.
Probably because it's so weird, this has never come up again. However, Tarkin does choose three orphaned Imperial cadets with promising grades to undergo the Tarkin family coming of age ceremony and adopts the only survivor. To me, this feels inspired by Tarkin being gay, but it hasn’t been explicitly stated. He comes from a very weird family that instilled within him fascist ideology as part of traditional Eriadu culture.
The picture is unrelated to both of these, I just like inflicting it on people.
