STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW SPOILERS - ELEVEN
here is a compilation of all things I can recall from the play involving Eleven
also to note: some things I am still a little confused about and will need to verify when I see it again soon. I will update as I remember things!
Henry's blood was transfused by the lab into either the pregnant mothers or the babies themselves, meaning they have his ''special' blood type (I will make a post about this soon when I next see the pay and can actually try to understand it because honestly my brain is a mess rn)
The final scene of the play is Henry with Eleven in the rainbow room, a short recreation of the scene in the show here he says they have 'something new to try today' which ties it nicely into the familiar territory of the series
The 'baby' Henry was holding at the end of the show on the first preview night was actually an error - the show started late and still has a working runtime of three hours without interval. As the show is still in preview sessions, it means not all transitions run smoothly yet and need major polishing, consider it like practices before the press night and official opening in mid-December. The play overran majorly for the first preview show and finished past 11pm. Due to laws involving child actors on stage, the young actresses who is usually cast to portray Eleven (as well as Alice Creel throughout the play) in the final scene was legally not allowed on stage for the final scene in the rainbow room. On a regular show night once it is polished and runs on time, Eleven in that final scene will be the age she is in the show in that same scene (so season one). The baby was simply a way to still do the scene but cover up the mistake of not legally allowing the Eleven actress on stage past 11pm. (I hope this makes sense)

I can't stop thinking about the parallel of Joyce Byers having a scholarship to go to theatre school, which was her dream since she was a child, but her putting it aside and not going because Lonny told her she'd never leave Hawkins and made her feel like she couldn't leave him behind.
And Jonathan Byers always dreaming of going to NYU to study since he was a child, but putting that aside and telling Nancy he would attend her dream college with her.
And, despite doing that, he still applies for a college close to Joyce, Will and El because he feels like he can't leave his family behind.
The Byers all deserve so much better. They've been made to feel inferior their whole lives, and they deserve some happiness.

Henry being the hand of God/Jesus in the sense of the Shadow being a Holy-Spirit/God type figure vs Will and Billy being the mouthpieces when they're flayed is so intriguing to me...but specifically because the Pope is the mouthpiece of God via Jesus in the Catholic church.
Pope, which is derived from the Latin word papa, and that from the Greek word pappas.
This becomes even more interesting (if a touch on the cornplating side) when we consider that Joyce Maldonado (see: Maldonado Miracle) breaks the 4th wall and addresses the audience at one point to tell us she's "the director"/we as the audience are put in the role of the critics evaluating DOTM. Joyce Maldonado...who is played by Isabella Pappas.
So that means we have:
Brenner/Papa as the head of HNL while imitating his "Papa"/trying continue his father's work.
The Shadow imitating Brenner/Papa as the head of Dimension X
Pappas playing Joyce, the head/director of the drama club
Two characters both named William being mouthpieces for the Shadow via Henry...just the same as the Pope/Papa is for the Catholic church via Jesus.
Hey characters named William...what's up with you and the direct Shadow/Brenner connections?

Patty Newby, moisturized and staying in her lane, with an angry, chaotic Henry at her side growling and frothing at the mouth:

Wait people think Louis is no longer part of TFS? I thought this was a broadway casting call what they posted
Edit: okay it does say it's for WestEnd but I hope he isn't leaving and they are just looking for a spare.

STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW SPOILERS - PATTY NEWBY
here is a compilation of all things I can recall from the play involving Patty Newby
also to note: some things I am still a little confused about and will need to verify when I see it again soon. I will update as I remember things!
Adopted daughter or Mr and Mrs Newby
Doesn't know who her mother was or where she is - feels like an outcast in Hawkins - this is what she eventually bonds with Henry about
Bob a loving brother to her but tease just as any siblings would
Mr Newby, the principal of the high school and a leading figure of the Church/local community, has clear bias against her - stricter on rules and regulations for her than Bob and other students
Revealed that Mrs Newby ran off with TED WHEELER'S FATHER - reason for Mr Newby's bitterness (no excuse, sir. leave her alone)
Mr Newby thought adopting a girl/another child into the family would strengthen the relationship with his wife, as they were clearly struggling and growing apart - he failed. lol.
Patty is a fan of comic books - she is seen multiple times praying to Wonder Woman (she's a real cutie guys, you'll love her)
Patty and Henry bond over their outcasting from others and enjoyment of comics, particularly the Captain Midnight series, on his first day at the high school
Patty has a talent for singing, something she believes could be from her mother, and her dream is to do it professionally someday
Patty auditions for the lead in Joyce's directed play, Henry steps up to read in for the part opposite her - they are then told they will need to kiss in the scene which is interrupted but it is clear they like each other from this
There is a brief scene where Walter Henderson makes a racially charged jab at her not belonging, to which Charles Sinclair stands and glares to get him to back down
Patty follows after Henry when he is distressed, assuring him she is there and cares
He reveals about his powers to her though does not admit all about hurting the boy at his last school in Nevada or killing the local pets recently - he shows Patty his ability to alter dreams and make them feel real (I saw this as his understanding of his powers, he thinks it is about controlling dreams and doe snot realise they are actually affecting reality until he learns the cat he killed in his dream was actually killed in reality and he is responsible for it)
In Patty's dream that Henry helps her to see, she is the lead singer and others form the town are her backup singers/dancer - yeah, guys, there's a whole musical number with pink sparkles and feathers and all
She then asks Henry to use his powers to find her mother - he finds her in Vegas as a singer - unfortunately, things go wrong and he can't control the evil
Mr Newby has been told by Victor that Patty is with Henry at the house and he storms over, Henry then trapping him with his powers, breaking his legs and blinding his eyes - he only breaks out before killing him completely when Patty shouts out that she loves him
In hospital, Mr Newby confesses his reasoning for her adoption to her and, of course, she is rightfully upset
Henry has been missing since the incident (with Brenner) - she sees him again during the play where Henry confronts Brenner, who tells her Henry is violent and responsible for everything - despite feeling betrayed Henry was untruthful to her, she tries to defend him against Brenner
However, Henry's powers are untamed and he lashes out with anger - Patty falls from the rafters of the school theatre stage and is presumed dead
Henry is taken by Brenner and told that she has died
It is not revealed to him until the end of the show when Henry (tied in a straight jacket and wheelchair) is in the in-between world (with the water, like in the series) and sees her alive with a walking stick - she has travelled to Vegas to be reunited with her mother
This means she is still out there and could make an appearance in ST5 - perhaps, the gang find her to appeal to Henry's more human, compassionate side - defeat evil with the power of love and friendship and all that

Mike's speech to Eleven in Stranger Things S4E9 holds so much more weight after watching the First Shadow in London.
He tells El: "I love you with your powers, without your powers. I love you for exactly who you are. You're my superhero. And ... I can't lose you."
Tumblr media
And it mirrors Eleven and Henry together so nicely.
Because we know Patty Newby thought of Henry Creel as her superhero - that was their thing and they constantly talked about him having super powers in the same way Max, Mike, Will and the Squad do with El. And Henry liked being Patty's superhero, and he felt loved for the first time in his life. He felt understood by someone for the first time in his life; by someone that also felt like an out-cast, and also felt like they didn't fit in and weren't "normal".
And we also know that Henry did lose Patty. Because Dr. Brenner isolated him away from her. He isolated him away from everyone and everything.
And he lost who he was because of that. And he became the weapon that Dr. Brenner wanted him to because of that.
If any part of the Henry Creel we meet in Stranger Things: the First Shadow is still there in Henry/Vecna/One, the realisation that Mike is Eleven's Patty must hurt him deeply.
They have so much to work with.
If Eleven finds out Mike loves Will, for example, then El will have to come to terms with losing the person that believed in her.
I'm interested to know what the Duffer Brothers might do with this in ST5.
Because we know Eleven experienced the same bullying that Henry did during her time in California. And we know that Will Byers has also been feeling isolated and alone his whole life, so maybe we'll see those similarities between Will and Henry start to creep into the story a lot more.
I'm excited. And I'm nervous.

I haven't caught up with all the spoilers for TFS and I know this started minor discourse in the past post-season 4, but honestly I really do hope this means that the Mind Flayer is coming back as the main villain of the show. Personally I was kind of disappointed when I thought season 4 was telling us there was a person behind all the supernatural happenings this whole time, because the "humans bad" plotline seems to be the trending thing in horror antagonists right now and I was hoping for Stranger Things to shake that up. I don't mind "humans bad", but there's too many of those stories now I feel like and I just want to see some eldritch horror beasts again.
I agree anon I truly believe the mind flayer is the real villain after the play and the way they have been paralleling will and henry and how both got controlled by the mind flayer the difference is henry got lost along the way and became bad will however is good and I believe we will see this in s5 maybe henry will try to get will to join him maybe will is going to have a moment where he breaks and mike has to bring him back again but that's my theory lol I'm so excited for s5 😊

While I love Steve having a kid that's a nerd, my favorite is if his kid is just like him. He's popular even at 7, he's extroverted, funny, and charming albeit a little strange. He loves sports and struggles in math and doesn't really get english and gets scolded when he laughs in history—sue him he thought it was funny—and has a tendency to get detention but also is somehow a teachers pet all at once.
He has a tendency for feminine things, makes it his own with earrings and the occasional pink flower print shirt.
He begs steve to not work on the car until he gets home from school, cause even at 5, he would rather climb over the fence and run home by himself then learn his dad worked on the cool car without him.
He loves driving and cooking and dancing and loves swimming—aunt Robbie calls him a variety of aquatic animals instead of his name; minnow, fish, stingray, tigershark. Anything went.
They look alike and act alike to the point robin laughs and claims Steve just cloned himself, Eddie says that the kid is actually just Steve brought to the future through time travel. Steve laughs, he loves it ofc but he's never pushed or forced it, it just happened that way.
But there's also times, where Steve sees his son, so like him with big tears in his eyes trying to be tough. Or when all he wants is to sleep in the bed with Steve when he has a nightmare, wants his dad to kiss everything better, when he so easily seeks affection or struggles with school to the point he's getting stress migraines at 9, sees him try so hard to do his best and do what he does well. Sees him fail.
And when Steve sees this, he wonders if maybe he wasn't a bad kid. Didn't need to be tougher, manlier, smarter—better—to deserve love.
Just. Like. Steve seeing that he didn't need to be anything other than what he was. That he has no idea how his parents didn't love him bc how could he ever not love his kid? Just like its okay for him to be how he is and have a kid that a like him as well bc he's pretty great
And like. Its just that idea that Steve could only “heal his inner child” with a kid that's different then him or a girl is kind of sad that it's only that what if him and his son go to every game and constantly have grease on them what then.
#stranger things#steve harrington#robin buckley#dad steve harrington#i just think it would be so nice#I am going to draw this kid I hope y'all know#his name is going to be Jimeno#bc Steves Cuban and wants to give his son a Cuban name too#his nickname will be meno and that's why robin thought calling him minnow was hilarious#he is now part of my st universe#I have three main ones#the steddie one the stali one and now this one#single dad Steve#I also have a very set past stancy universe that I don't delve into where they're divorced and have a kid and Nancys with robin#that one is fun and I will draw it someday#but anyway#let Steve have a kid that's like him bc why tf can he only have a kid that's different#like what's so wrong about Steve#why can't his kid like all the typical jock stuff#and be sensitive and shit#and Steves like oh my god I wasn't a horrible kid who could never do anything right my parents were assholrs#and Steves like I will give my kid ANYTHING he desires and what are YOU gonna do about it#him and robin living together practically coparenting#jimeno starts calling robin roberto bc Steve does#and imagine robin HAS to learn Spanish fluently bc Steve only speaks Spanish in the house#jimenos first language will be spanish if Steve has anything to say about it#robin learns so fast#but imagine Nancy having a hard time learning it and like every ones so co fused bc Steve and jimeno will talk to her in Spanish and she'll#talk back in English and every ones confused but they understand each other so it's fine
