Self realization is a state of mind. As one enters the house of their Aatman (house of the Aatman is the body, as it holds the Aatman). Bhakti and knowledge makes up the diya that brightens the Aatman (soul) and mind. Bhakti is the smell of oil, it also is the oil that is placed in the diya. The wick is our consciousness that connects knowledge, which is the flame, to our Bhakti.
But then knowledge of what? In these terms. It's the knowledge of being one with the Paramatman. Knowing that you have a relation with Bhagwan, Bhagvati. And that relationship is Bhakti prem itself.
Once we realize and believe that we are one with our Aradhya (Bhagwan or Bhagwati), and that the Self/Soul(Aatman) is just a mere aspect of theirs, then that's self realization.
One can't force this on anyone. That person have to realize for themselves. Self realization, Bhakti, and intellect can't be forced. But it's free. That's because it's not a man-made thing.
