Whenever we patronized Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) in Northpoint City in Yishun, mum number one choice would be her Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). Well, I ordered something new this time round, a soup-based noodles dish.

My Noodles Soup with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (招牌猪排汤面) at S$11.80+, one dollar cheaper than mum’s. I opted for thin noodles as I preferred its texture over the thicker and broader version. Came with a single carrot flower, snow pea and some scallions floating in the broth over a bundle of thin whitish noodles. The soup is lightly seasoned and the noodles is firm which actually complement the well marinated pork chop.

Carmen Sandiego Wok-Tossed Stir Fry Recipe
SERVES 4
Ingredients:
500g lean beef, sliced
1/6 cup garlic, finely chopped
1/2 cup onions, chopped
2 cups broccoli, chopped
1 cup tofu, cubed
1/2 cup spring onions
1 cup bok choy
1/4 cup peas
1/2 cup shiitake mushrooms, chopped
1 cup mixed bell peppers
Oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1 bottle RedCrackle Powder
1 large scoop CarmIvy seasoning
1/4 cup Team Red Mix
Procedure:
In a wok, drizzle some oil, allowing it to heat before adding the garlic and onions in.
Throw in the broccoli, followed by the bok choy, lean beef, tofu and bell peppers. Toss them with a spatula.
Add the peas and shiitake mushrooms in.
When all the ingredients are well-cooked, transfer the contents into a plate, seasoning with salt and pepper, and finally, garnishing with chopped spring onions, the entire bottle of RedCrackle Powder, CarmIvy seasoning and Team Red Mix. Serve with steamed rice.

Planted 3 rows of red, yellow, white onions and garlic at the beginning of March. We call these Easter onions, because they're supposed to grow enough by Easter so you can eat them with dyed eggs, but as always, I planted them a little late.

This part of me
desperately
wants to write a poem
about onion skins.
It was taken
with the idea of chewing them
for a while—for years.
Then,
just now,
my heart hurt,
physically, I mean, I've
never felt something like that.
It felt fibrous,
and weak,
and like a pulled muscle, but
pulled muscles only hurt when you
move them. This part of me
pictured my heart as if it were
woven from dried spring
onion greens, fibrous,
and weak, but only just enough
to be worrying, when tested.
The weave ought to hold out.
It always has, so
far. This part of me, which is older younger, thinks
of a person who marks it, who
is linked to so much
nature I am
thinking about their heart, too, all
burnt indigo skies and
stars and
the little fibres of
paper when you
let it into your life in more than one way
and the moon
and the canal in my hometown greens
its willow fronds and whispers like I think a friend might
but it's always been lovers who've gotten that close, so
far.

Packed back dinner from Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) in Northpoint City. Yeah, the Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) is for mum while I opted for the Sunrise Pork Chop Rice (日出猪排饭). Because of the orange egg yolk, they called this “Sunrise”. Added just a little of their super-hot chilli paste as it is really burning spicy.
