what do you think everyone in tbaw orders in their pizza ?
truly, i love you questions. they're always so cute and random but i love them hahaha
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ what pizza they order - tbaw.
ft. eren, jean, reiner, connie&sasha. cw. none
Tumblr media
⋙ connie springer & sasha braus.
(sorry these two are always one in the same to me)
these guys are ordering the super-loaded pizzas for sure!! like your deluxe, meat lovers, stuffed crust-type pizzas
they also order probably like four different dips because they love variety
⋙ eren jaeger.
eren is a simple pepperoni guy. maybe with some ranch dip if he's feeling crazy.
would probably order cheesy bread to share if he's getting pizza with a group of people, but if it's just him he's getting a good and simple pepperoni pizza. something easy that you can get at any pizza place and is always available at those "pizza lunch" days at the office.
(also is a child and doesn't eat his crust half the time)
⋙ jean kirstein.
god. he's ordering something fancy and pretentious for sure. he just can't be satisfied with a standard pepperoni or cheese or even deluxe.
i could see him leaning more toward a veggie-based pizza rather than something super meaty. like a pesto pizza with like sun-dried tomatoes and spinach and olives or like a mediterranean or tuscan pizza w olives and artichokes and feta
⋙ reiner braun.
i feel like he gets a plain cheese pizza and a side of like 18 hot wings. idk why but i don't really see reiner as a big pizza guy??
but this man would devour wings. he'd get the sauce all over his fingers and his face. he knows how to do the things where you twist the bone so all the meat comes off in one clean piece 💀

RECIPE: Spinach and artichoke dip pizza (from Cali’Flour Kitchen by Amy Lacey)
My mom makes spinach artichoke dip every Christmas and Easter, and since I can no longer eat mine out of a bread bowl, this triple-cheesy pizza removes the gluten from the equation and puts me back in the holiday spirit!
Serves 3
1 Cali’flour Pizza Crust (recipe in Cali’Flour Kitchen or you can purchase at your local supermarket)
½ cup (10 g) packed baby spinach
¼ cup (40 g) quartered artichoke hearts
4 tablespoons (30 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon sour cream
1½ tablespoons cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or get out your pizza pan and place your crust on it.
In a medium bowl, mix together the spinach, artichoke hearts, 2 tablespoons of the mozzarella, the sour cream, cream cheese, and mayonnaise until evenly coated. Spread the mixture over the pizza crust and top with the remaining 2 tablespoons mozzarella. Place in the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted. Remove from the oven to a cutting board and garnish with the red pepper flakes. Slice and serve.

White Pizza with Caramelized Mushroom & Basil Pesto
Tumblr media
An amazing vegan pizza with SOY-FREE cheese? So excited for this.
I’ve never been satisfied with the Boboli packaged pizza crust, Ragu sauce and Hormel Pepperoni style pizza. As a kid, I scoffed at Lunchables pizza snacks. Like, get that trash out of my face. *hair flip* I wanted the Chicken, Spinach and Artichoke pizza with the Roma tomatoes and Alfredo sauce on herbed hand-tossed crust from Sicily’s.
I always knew there was better.
I’ve found some pretty amazing pizzas in my travels. In Uruguay, hand-chopped basil pesto and Anana (Pineapple) pizza blew my mind. In London, I enjoyed a portobello mushroom and chili oil pizza piping hot of the stone oven. The dough tasted like love and patience. Sighs.. I do believe I’m a bit of a pizza snob – my standards are high; and going vegetarian/vegan has not made compromising flavor, acceptable.
I held this recipe for almost a year when I finally decided to give it a shot. I was just so skeptical. It’s really exceeded my expectations. As you’re pouring the milk on the pizza, you may begin to question what you are doing. But trust me – when the moisture in the coconut milk reduces in the oven, the sauce becomes cheesy and greasy.
The basil pesto I chopped by hand, just like my Uncle in Uruguay showed me. Then I folded in the olive oil gently. I rubbed the crust down with extra virgin olive oil and tons of herbs because I love an herby pizza crust.
Perfect for a personal treat, or share with friends over a glass of wine. Enjoy!
______________________
White Pizza with Caramelized Mushroom & Basil Pesto
Basil Pesto
1 c packed basil Leaves
1/4 c Italian parsley, leaves only
1 clove minced garlic
1 1/2 tbsp walnuts
1/4 c extra virgin olive oil
tt  himalayan salt
Chop basil, parsley, walnuts by hand. Mince garlic. Fold in olive oil with a pinch of salt.
White Cheese Sauce
1/2 c coconut cream
3 tblsp coconut water
2 cloves garlic
1/2 tsp himalayan salt
1 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
Pizza crust
2-3 portobello mushrooms
1-3 tblsp vegan butter (I used sunflower seed butter)
Place a can of full-fat coconut milk in the fridge overnight.
Sautée garlic lightly in a pan with olive oil until it becomes translucent. Or you can toss them in olive oil and roast them at 375 for about 40-60 min.
Open can of coconut milk and scoop out cream only. It should be settled solid at the bottom of the can. Pour 1/2 c of coconut cream, 3 tblsp coconut water, plus the salt, herbs and garlic in a blender. Blend on high until smooth.
Rub pizza crust (I used a fresh Naan bread from the Phoenician Deli) with olive oil and herbs.
Spoon a thin layer of Pesto onto crust and spread evenly.
Carefully drizzle the cheese sauce over the pizza crust. Top with caramelized portobello mushrooms (I did this on a pan on medium high with a bit of vegan butter) and fresh basil. Sprinkle with crushed red pepper.
Broil at 450 for 10 min on a parchment lined pan, or until crust browns and cheese begins to bubble.

Where To Get Pizza Delivery In LA (2) added to Google Docs
Where To Get Pizza Delivery In LA (2)
You don’t have to be a character in Eat Pray Love (or a Ninja Turtle) to know how much a pizza can improve your life. And there aren’t many foods better for delivery, either. So while we’re all stuck at home, we wanted to put together a list of local pizza spots that will both help you support local businesses, and improve your night at the same time. Here are some great pizza options for takeout and delivery across Los Angeles.
All restaurants featured on The Infatuation are selected by our editorial team. Where To Get Pizza Delivery In LA is presented by Uber Eats. In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, supporting our local restaurant community has never been more important. Uber Eats customers can now give directly to the restaurants they love at checkout. 100% will go to the restaurant. Order now to support. See app for details.
Featured In The Ultimate LA Delivery & Takeout Guide Check out all our guides The spots  Abbot's Pizza Company $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Venice $$$$ 1407 Abbot Kinney Blvd Not
Rated
Yet
You probably have some very fond thoughts about Abbot’s Pizza if you’ve ever lived or worked in Venice (or even if you haven’t). This spot on Abbot Kinney has been around practically since the actual Abbot Kinney was, serving affordable pizzas with excellent bagel-style crusts (meaning you can get them with sesame, poppyseed, or everything toppings). The XL pizzas are big enough for an entire family, so get the spinach, sun-dried tomato, and feta-covered Athens Pie with an everything crust, and enjoy. Potentially for the next two or three days, if you’re alone. Local delivery or pick-up available.
Casa Bianca Pizza Pie $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Eagle Rock $$$$ 1650 Colorado Blvd 7.6 /10
A classic Eagle Rock spot (and we mean classic, since it opened in 1955), Casa Bianca serves thin-crust, Sicilian-style pies, and while they might not be as adventurous as other places on this list, we don’t need every pizza to involve a thoughtful take on pork belly confit. Which is to say, we’ll never say no to a greasy pie, especially if it’s got Casa Bianca’s incredible house-made sausage on top.
 Jakob Layman Cosa Buona $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  Echo Park $$$$ 2100 W Sunset Blvd 8.3 /10
Cosa Buona is an Echo Park pizza spot that isn’t doing anything too crazy with their Neapolitan-style, wood-fired pies - which is exactly why we love them. They use straightforward toppings like ricotta and spinach, or sausage and bitter greens that’ll make anyone happy. The crunchy crust is perfect every time, and the garlic-forward sauce is very good, too. Add on some mozz sticks, if you know what’s good for you.
LA Guide: Where To Get Italian Delivery & Takeout In LA Read  Philip Guerette DeSano Pizza Bakery $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  East Hollywood $$$$ 4959 Santa Monica Blvd 7.9 /10
Another spot for Neapolitan-style pies, DeSano is an East Hollywood institution you absolutely need to know about. The crust here is thin, chewy, and extremely foldable, and the toppings are all very Italian. The Bianca has mozzarella, pecorino, ricotta, and scamorza, and is great for vegetarians, and the Lasagna pizza (which is exactly what it sounds like) is good if you’re breaking out a few bottles of red wine for this meal. And if you’re wondering if the calzones really could be worth ordering along with pizzas, the answer is yes. Get the Vesuvio - it’s got soppressata, prosciutto, pepperoni, and garlic, and can be cut up and eaten as an appetizer.
 Order delivery  Dough Box $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Boyle Heights $$$$ 2734 North Eastern Avenue 7.9 /10
A to-go-only El Sereno spot operating out of an industrial park, Dough Box is going to be a place you’re very happy you discovered (we’ll even let you take the credit). They serve Chicago-style deep-dish pies that are going to blow your mind - the dough is bread-y, chewy, and delicious, and the surprisingly light cheese complements it very well. The classic Soto is great, but if you’re feeling really bold, get the Broadway - perfectly proportioned amounts of olives, onions, sausage, and cherry peppers on top of a thick layer of cheese. Orders must be made in advance, via email, so make sure to check out their Instagram for the latest info.
Order delivery  Elio's Wood Fire Pizza $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Silver Lake $$$$ 2517 Sunset Blvd Not
Rated
Yet
Elio’s, which formerly operated out of a parking lot in Silver Lake, was one of our favorite new pizza spots last year. Now, they’re operating out of the kitchen at Employees Only, a cocktail bar in Weho. And even though they’ve upgraded their pickup truck oven, they’re still making great pizzas. The heavily blistered pies are $12 for a personal-sized cheese, plus $1 for each topping - we usually get one with sausage, pepper, and onion, and one with artichoke and basil. Curbside pick-up available, or $5 delivery within five miles ($25 minimum).
Garage Pizza $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Los Feliz ,  Silver Lake $$$$ 4339 W Sunset Blvd 7.7 /10
If you’re looking for late-night delivery on the Eastside, Silver Lake’s Garage Pizza has you covered. But their pizzas aren’t just good when it’s 2am and you have an extremely strong craving for something salty and cheesy (so, you’re high). Regardless of the time of day (or night), no one’s going to be mad about a pie from Garage. They’re absolutely massive, and if thin crust, NY-style pies are your thing, then you’ll be very happy with this pizza.
Order delivery   Jakob Layman Hail Mary Pizza $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Sandwiches  in  Atwater Village $$$$ 3219 Glendale Blvd 8.1 /10
A neighborhood spot in Atwater Village with some killer pizzas, Hail Mary is also doing fantastic work for the restaurant community, providing free meals to out-of-work hospitality professionals - call (323) 284-8879 for details. As far as the pies themselves, we highly recommend the $10 margherita (yes, it’s a full-sized pie for $10), or the Abbot with Calabrian chilies, porchetta, olives, and mornay. Pick-up only. For more information, check their Instagram.
 Benji Dell Jon & Vinny's $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  Fairfax $$$$ 412 N. Fairfax Ave. 9.3 /10
You’ve certainly seen the spicy fusilli from Jon & Vinny’s haunting your Instagram feed, but the pizzas from this iconic spot on Fairfax are just as worthy of your attention. We could fill up an entire guide with love letters to their topping combinations, so we’ll keep it short. We love the White Lightning (ricotta, mozzarella, and pickled jalapeno), and the Ham & Yeezy (ham, vodka sauce, and pickled Fresno chilies), and pretty much everything else, too. If you’ve got room, add an order of the meatballs - they’re truly life-changing.
The Luggage Room Pizzeria $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Pasadena $$$$ 260 S Raymond Ave 7.7 /10
Pasadena’s Luggage Room Pizzeria serves well-made pies with chewy, slightly funky sourdough crust and innovative toppings. They’ve got options like chorizo and sun-dried tomatoes, and avocado and lemon. But we usually go for the Shattuck Ave, a pie topped with burrata, roasted garlic, and piquillo peppers. Pick up some beer from Stone Brewing next door while youre at it.
Order delivery   Holly Liss Masa of Echo Park Bakery & Cafe $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  Echo Park $$$$ 1800 W Sunset Blvd 8.2 /10
Echo Park’s tremendous pizza spot Masa is open for takeout and delivery, which is very good news for anyone who needs good deep dish in these dark times. The traditional, with a thin layer of sausage and mushrooms underneath an extremely not-thin layer of mozzarella cheese, is our favorite. Expect to have leftovers - you’re going to be stuffed after one slice.
 Emily Hart Roth Milo And Olive $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Pasta ,  Italian  in  Santa Monica $$$$ 2723 Wilshire Blvd. 8.3 /10
Milo + Olive’s menu is full of great things (oh hi, garlic knots as addictive as Tiger King). But if you’re going all-in on pizzas, you won’t be disappointed. They’re all around $22, and can feed three easily. Get the pork belly sausage and kale - you’ll never be so happy to be eating kale on pizza. If you’re on the Westside, this is the ideal go-to when you don’t feel like making another overly complicated “30 minute” meal.
 Order delivery  Osteria La Buca $ $ $ $ Italian  in  Hancock Park ,  Hollywood ,  Larchmont $$$$ 5210 Melrose Ave 8.2 /10
Hollywood’s Osteria La Buca is probably best-known for their great pastas, but you’d be remiss to ignore their pizzas. They’ve only got three pies on their menu, and they’re all worth your time. The classic mozzarella, tomato, and basil is good, but our favorite is the housemade sausage, ricotta, and garlic confit one. They’re also selling pizza dough to-go, if you want to stock up for the future.
 Order delivery  Pace Joint $ $ $ $ Italian  in  West Hollywood $$$$ 7860 Sunset Blvd. 7.5 /10
The more casual sibling to Pace, Laurel Canyon’s classic Italian spot, Pace Joint serves affordable wood-fired pizzas that you’ll be extremely happy about. Go for the Mamma G’s (pork sausage and caramelized fennel) or the meatball - both are well-balanced, and loaded with toppings. The pizzas also usually arrive quickly, which makes them perfect for when you need to feed a screaming child (or a screaming significant other).
 Order delivery   Jakob Layman Pizzana $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  Brentwood $$$$ 11712 San Vicente Boulevard 7.6 /10
The wood-fired pizzas from Pizzana in Brentwood (there’s a location in Weho, too) are neighborhood favorites for a reason: The crust is springy, chewy, and full of flavor, and the toppings are applied with an appropriately heavy hand. You’ll be happy if you go traditional and get a funghi or margherita, but we also endorse trying something different - the basil-breadcrumb-covered Neo is one of our favorites, as is the Cacio E Pepe. They’ve also got some of our favorite gluten-free pies in town.
 Philip Guerette Pizzanista $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Arts District $$$$ 2019 E 7th St 8.1 /10
Even if you’ve only ever had Pizzanista when you’re drunkenly stumbling around the Arts District at midnight on a Saturday, you should still know about it for delivery. They serve whole pies or do by-the-slice (in a combo with a Coke), and they’re across-the-board cheesy, greasy, and wonderful. If it’s Sunday, you need to get the vegan mac and cheese pie. It’s entirely too much, and as such, perfect.
 Order delivery   Holly Liss Prime Pizza $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Fairfax $$$$ 446 N Fairfax Ave 7.5 /10
If you live in Weho, Downtown LA, or Burbank, Prime Pizza is an excellent option for quick and reliable pizza delivery. The pies are massive, affordable, and simple, but that doesn’t mean they’re not also great. The pepperoni is one of our favorites - the inch-wide slices curl up and get crispy, with tiny little pools of grease inside (just how we like it). They also deliver slices (from the Burbank location), but who are we really kidding? You want leftovers for later.
Order delivery  Provami Pizzeria $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  West Hollywood $$$$ 7407 W Melrose Ave Not
Rated
Yet
Provami, the pizza spot on Melrose in Weho, serves reliably good Neapolitan-style pies for delivery and pick-up. They use high-quality toppings, and the crust is chewy, with some really good char from the wood-fired oven. Our favorite pie here is the Provami Signature - it’s a sort of pizza-calzone, with a layer of dough sealing in the ricotta and salami inside.
 Order delivery   Jakob Layman Roberta’s $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  Culver City $$$$ 8850 Washington Blvd 7.6 /10
LA’s outpost of the famous Brooklyn pizza spot, Roberta’s is an ideal way to end a long day of getting in arguments with your cat because you’re not used to spending so much time together. This Culver City spot serves tremendous wood-fired pizzas - the iconic Bee Sting (with soppressata, basil, chile, and honey) is excellent, as is the Cheesus Christ (mozzarella, taleggio, parm, black pepper, and cream). You can order delivery or pick-up on most apps, or through the online Platform Drive-Through, where you can also get food, groceries, and sundries from several of Roberta’s neighbors.
 Jakob Layman Ronan $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  West Hollywood $$$$ 7315 Melrose Ave 8.5 /10
Ronan is a fun Weho pizza spot with innovative pies to match, and those pies translate just as well to your living room (especially if you add in a couple bottles of wine). The Sweet Cheeks is our favorite - this guanciale and ricotta-topped pie is sweet, spicy, and perfect. But that doesn’t mean the simple margherita isn’t also great - the red sauce, mozzarella, and basil are perfectly ratioed on every bite. And they’re offering 10% off curbside pickup, if you go for that instead of delivery.
The Slice & Pint $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  El Segundo $$$$ 130 W Grand Ave Not
Rated
Yet
El Segundo Brewing Company’s neighborhood pizza spot Slice & Pint is open for pizza and beer just off Main St. in El Segundo. We love the pan pizzas here, which are thick, doughy, and buttery, but regardless of what style of pie you get, they’ve got some really innovative toppings. The Crowntown (arugula, prosciutto, garlic, and Calabrian chili) and the pineapple-and-Spam-covered Rob’s In Maui are our favorites. Get some cheesy bread and a couple crowlers of beer (brewed at their brewery across the street) while you’re at it. Available for pick-up Wednesday-Sunday 12-8pm.
 Holly Liss South End $ $ $ $ Pizza ,  Italian  in  Venice $$$$ 2805 Abbot Kinney Blvd 7.8 /10
South End is the kind of place you’ll want to keep as a secret for yourself, but in reality, the pies are just too good not to share with your friends. This spot in Venice serves Neapolitan-style pizzas with crunchy-but-chewy crusts that are blackened in spots, giving them a great charred flavor from the oven. We also appreciate that they’re not so overloaded with toppings so the crust can shine. Get the Boardwalk (mushroom, speck, arugula, and egg) or the meat-loaded District 11.
 Order delivery   Jakob Layman Superfine Pizza $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Downtown LA $$$$ 1101 S San Pedro St 8.2 /10
Another tiny spot that’s basically just a to-go window, Superfine in Downtown LA serves a short menu of innovative and excellent pies that are big enough to feed a crowd, yet light enough that you won’t need a nap once you finish eating. The pies cover a wide spectrum of flavors, from the rich, salty and vinegar-y Vegan (really - it’s great) with tomato, garlic, capers, and olives, to the sweet, spicy, and nutty salami and honey pizza.
 Order delivery   Jakob Layman Triple Beam Pizza $ $ $ $ Pizza  in  Highland Park $$$$ 5916 N Figueroa St 8.7 /10
Triple Beam is one of the most affordable options on this list, but that doesn’t mean it’s not also fantastic. This spot on Figueroa in Highland Park (with a second location on Sunset in Echo Park) serves excellent, Roman-style pizzas. In person, that means they cut slices for you, but when it comes to delivery, that means you order half or full pies for two or four. Our favorites are the acorn squash with cacio de Roma, and the shallot and mushroom. The pies are light but extremely filling. Make sure to get some house-baked focaccia, too.

Wood is an underrated spot on Sunset in Silver Lake, serving crowd-pleasing, Neapolitan-style pies. Our favorites are the sausage and rapini and the sausage and cherry tomato. They’ve also got all kinds of grocery essentials available, too, if you also happen to need to restock on bananas.

Here are some easy, healthy dinner ideas for busy families

Here are some easy, healthy dinner ideas for busy families
Dear Nutritionist, I enjoyed your recipe suggestions last week. I’ve never heard of bento boxes before and my kids liked the idea and so we picked out boxes together and got started. So far so good! My problem is managing dinners when the kids play sports and have band practice. I just can’t think what to cook that’s fast so I’ve ended up doing take out a lot. Other nights, I do our traditional rice and veg with dahl or some meat in sauce because I know how to cook that but I know the rice makes me put on the weight. I’ve lost weight this summer and don’t want to gain it all back again! Do you also have recipes for healthy quick weeknight dinners?  Thank you!  Amani
Dear Amani, I hear you! This was the hardest time for me to manage my son’s diet when he was at home. After battling rush hour traffic and being on my feet all day, the last thing I wanted to do was cook a meal from scratch. But with a kid who was gluten, dairy, sugar, and preservative intolerant, the options were limited. As a result, I got really good at it. I’ll share some of my solutions — one of which is South Asian (my favourite food by the way)!
With mothers working outside the home now, really, who has time to stay home and cook healthy food from scratch? But convenience / take-out foods are loaded with unhealthy fats, excess sodium, highly processed starches, and sugars. And despite selling the “there’s veggies on it so it’s OK,” the standard take out pizza fare isn’t any better. But I have a hack for that, too!
Let’s jump right in.
The first thing you can do to make your life easier is make a seven-day meal plan. You can then do this again once you master the first one, to add variety. So at that point you have two meal plans of seven days each, and are only eating the same meal every two weeks. That’s enough variety for anyone.
Let’s start with seven days. It may seem cumbersome at first, but when we ritualize changes they stick. And this is the secret every fitness guru knows about weight management that we commoners seem to miss: you need to have a plan to succeed. This is especially so in an environment that is laden with overly processed convenience food everywhere you turn.
I will suggest a few recipes that make week nights easy, to get people started. You can supplement them with other ones if they suit you better. But you will need a plan and a grocery list. This grocery list will be a royal pain to generate at first, but you will put it on your phone and thereafter, you can get the same groceries every single week (or two, once you’re on a biweekly schedule).
That alone makes life so much more manageable — you know exactly what you are getting and where to get it. And, if you take advantage of the order online services grocery stores now offer and have a butcher for the meat, you can order and just pick up. There’s an hour or more of time saved and you do not have to walk through aisles and be tempted by foods you’re trying to avoid, or worse, wrestle with kids putting things in the cart that you really don’t want in the house.
Next — and this is key to your busy routine success — when you buy your groceries you will spend about one to two hours doing meal prep for the week. If this is totally overwhelming, I offer inexpensive classes online where I go through this weekly to demonstrate. Clients who sign up get a menu plan and grocery list in advance so they can be prepped for the class to cook together. It ends up being a lot of fun.
Doing the meal plan prep may seem like a huge chunk of your weekend, but you’ve just saved at least an hour shopping. And during the week you will save another hour running around after take-out or trying to get groceries and figure out what to eat. So a meal plan is really very efficient.
I find it’s a nice early Sunday afternoon ritual and I do it with music or audiobook/ podcast and a bit of kombucha or dry wine or sangria. I often talk to friends on the phone while I prep and sometimes we do it together on the phone or in person. This short time spent organizing ensures you have all your ingredients (and a few dishes) prepped for your meals in advance, making weeknights a breeze.
So on to some suggestions.
Homemade Tortilla Pizzas: These are a much healthier version of pizza that take about 10 minutes to make – if you cut up your ingredients and shred the cheese on the weekend when you get your groceries. (Home shredded cheese is much healthier and fresher.) These are made with a very thin crust, low carb flat bread I get called Protein Up. There are a variety of flavours. The kids may be able to handle more carbs than you and you could make theirs with a standard soft flour tortilla or whole wheat tortilla. If someone in the family is gluten-free, you can also use gluten-free tortillas.
The toppings you choose are completely up to you! My favourite is spinach, pesto, sundried tomato, artichoke, and feta or goat cheese. The great thing about these is the kids don’t have to agree on toppings and you don’t end up having anyone picking things off. It also puts the prep into each person’s hands, which makes things faster and gives the kids cooking skills that will stay with them for life. The key to this coming out right is to pre-bake the tortillas first. The entire recipe is done in less than 15 minutes. And if you pair it with a bag of Dole’s premixed salad kits (Greek or Italian have less sugar than others), you have an easy, fresh meal.
Fish Tacos: This is a great, delicious, gluten-free recipe if you use corn tortillas. If you want to go low-carb, it’s way easy to hack by just putting the ingredients in a bowl and eating it like a salad. And there’s no loss of flavour or texture in doing that with this recipe.
The only things to make ahead for this are the salsa, guacamole, and mango salsa, if you want them. Click on each for links to recipes. The salsas are better if they sit in the fridge a few days, so making ahead is perfect, and this gives you dips for your bentos. The entire dish takes only 15 minutes to whip up once that part is done.
If you’re not into making salsa by hand, try adding chopped red onion, pressed garlic, and finely diced cilantro (optional jalapeno finely diced) to a jar of store bought salsa (always get the unsweetened kind). Let this sit in the fridge a few days and you will be amazed how delish it is!
For anyone who has a family member who’s dairy intolerant, I substitute goat or sheep cheese and coconut or homemade cashew milk for cream.
Pasta Bolognese: This is a meal pretty much every person I’ve ever met likes. It can be made much healthier by using whole wheat or high fibre pasta for the kids and shirataki spaghetti noodles for you. These are found in Asian or specialty stores and they are a very good texture with no taste and zero carbs! The shirataki only need to brought to a boil to freshen them up, so it’s a 5 minute meal if you make your bolognaise sauce ahead.
You can put whatever you like in your Bolognese sauce, but the foundation should be a sugar-free, good quality tomato sauce. I like the Classico brand, but you can also just used canned pureed tomatoes and add your own oil and spices. I cook all my other ingredients (onion, carrot, garlic, sweet pepper, spinach, ground beef, spices) before adding the tomato sauce to simmer and reduce. Many people use ground veal or pork and celery in this, but it’s really up to you.
Instead of serving parmesan cheese as a topper, try nutritional yeast. It’s very high in B vitamins and it’s a very close substitute for that cheesy flavour. Serve with another pre-made salad mix with a higher quality italian or homemade oil/ vinegar dressing. I add baby tomatoes, olives, and red onion with a feta dressing to make this a nice greek salad.
Again, your pasta prep on the day of is super quick. Any leftover pasta sauce can get frozen for a quick heat up the next time you make this dish, so making double or triple will save you time and work going forward!
Chicken Korma with Parboiled Brown Rice: Before you moan and eyeroll about the disgusting stickiness that is most brown rice, let me tell you about a very well kept secret. Uncle Ben’s Instant Brown Rice. I am not kidding. This stuff is perfectly formed, long grain rice that retains its texture while taking only 10 minutes to cook! And, unlike basmati, any idiot can do it right.
Brown rice is known to be more nutritious, higher in fibre, and lower glycemic than white rice, owing to the bran, while parboiled rice is low glycemic and retains the nutrients, at the same time as being more palatable and easier to prepare. New research shows that cooking the rice with coconut (or possibly ghee or olive) oil and then refrigerating it overnight changes the starch and lowers the glycemic index even more. That means a modest portion of this staple food can be part of a low-carb diet when prepared this way.
You can also do cauliflower rice for yourself, if you want to stay ultra low-carb or keto. I’ve included links on how to make it.
Again, if you make extra korma and freeze it, you’re ahead of the game for the following weeks.
Some other suggestions I have for weeknights are make ahead chaplee kabobs with green beans, and turkey breast protein-up wraps with lettuce, and cranberry mayo, with a broccoli salad. These are just a few of the recipes I share in my meal prep meetup.
If all this sounds overwhelming, I urge you to remember you have to make something. At least having a plan will make sure they are good meals and you’re not eating out. You will know exactly what you are eating on each day, and so will the kids. This predictability really helps. While it may be a lot to get done the first few weeks, within a month you will get very good at your meal plan and you can add another week of recipes to it to make sure there is no boredom. And making it a habit will do more to get you into your skinny jeans than any amount of time spent at the gym!
OMG all this food writing is making me hungry! Until next week!

Prosciutto is is an Italian dry-cured ham that is usually thinly sliced and served uncooked. Super Bowl I – Green Bay Packers
Whether you like football or not, you probably watch the Super Bowl at least to see the commercials or what train wreck will attempt to entertain the millions of people during the halftime show. If nothing else, the game is a good reason to consume large amounts of food and yell at the TV and consider it “festive” and not “another Sunday night.”
But after the touchdown dances are completed and the confetti is cleaned up, there’s that little matter of creating and distributing the championship rings. As you can see, they’re ridiculous and over the top and pretty much everything you would expect from a league that has a salary cap of around $140 million. But they’re also pretty cool to look at
