nothing is more serious in life than female friendships ~ soulmate movie analysis (not spoiler free)
The first scene of Soulmate opens up with an early thirties something Ahn Mi So (Kim Da Mi) carefully observing a hyperrealistic portrait of her. She is informed by the curator of the art gallery that the piece was submitted by an artist named "Ha-Eun" for a contest but they have been unable to track her. Despite the evidence that is provided to suggest that Mi So and the artist are close friends, she denies this claim and states that she can be of no help.
We are then transported to Mi So's childhood and her first day at an elementary school in Jeju. Mi So has a dysfunctional relationship with her mother and is tired of having to constantly move from one place to another due to her mother's financial woes. It is on this day that the young Mi So meets Ko Ha Eun ( Jeon So-Nee) for the first time. After an eventful day of rescuing a kitten from the pouring rain and having dinner with Ha Eun's family, both girls embark on a lifelong friendship.
The two girls grow up together and bond over their mutual dream of painting and traveling the world. However, Mi So and Ha Eun are poles apart from each other. Ha-Eun is reserved and proper and grows up in a stable loving two parent childhood. She aspires to attend college and her father wishes her to become a painter. On the other hand, Mi So is extroverted and wild. She's a free spirit with an estranged mother. She dislikes school and unlike her peers, she attends a trade school by day and works an assortment of part time jobs to support herself. The idyllic friendship and inseparable bond of both girls is disrupted when Ham Jin Woo (played by the ever so handsome Byeon Woo Soek) enters their lives.
As teenagers, Ha Eun develops romantic feelings for Jin Woo. During a soirée, she and Jin Woo confess their attraction for each other during a game of "Go Stop" and they both end up dating. The dynamics between the three individuals is complex and a significant turning point in their relationship is when the three go on a forest hike to a wishing well. Ha Eun bruises her feet during the hike and stays behind as Jin Woo and Mi So continue their journey. At the well, the two unexpectedly share a brief kiss and Jin Woo ends up giving Mi So the necklace he was wearing, which is really an amulet to protect the wearer against misfortune.
Shortly after this trip, Mi So abruptly leaves Jeju for Seoul, leaving Ha Eun heartbroken. As the two girls wave their final farewells, Ha Eun is stunned to find her best friend wearing her boyfriend's necklace. Her grief of Mi So's sudden departure is overcome by a strong sense of betrayal. The rest of the film is a non-linear and sometimes alternate timeline depiction of the two friends as they navigate their relationship with each other and adulthood.
At its core, the relationship between Mi So, Ha Eun, and Jin Woo is essentially a love triangle, but its far more complicated than the two girls both being in love with same guy. I believe that both girls are physically attracted to Jin Woo, but they are actually truly in love with each other. What drives the conflict in their relationship is not only how far they drift from each other when their realities do not align with their ideals, but also the mutual possessiveness for each other. One scene that strongly propels this narrative is when the two reunite in their mid-late twenties. During a coincidental run-in with Jin Woo, Mi So discovers that her boyfriend/boss unalived himself and wasted all of their money before his death. Heartbroken and bankrupt, Mi So ends up living with Jin Woo and the two rekindle their "attraction" for each other. When Ha-Eun catches them living together, she angrily locks Jin Woo out of his apartment and confronts a drunken Mi Soo in the bathroom. Initially, it seems like Ha Eun is upset that her best friend and lover are having an affair. But, we realize that its so much more than that when Ha Eun emotionally confesses that before any men came into their lives, she was the one who loved Ha Eun. Ha Eun loves Mi So so much that it was absolutely devastating for her that she was kept in the dark and replaced by Jin Woo during a critical period of Mi So's life.
Though Soulmate has a fairly simple premise and short runtime , analyzing and discussing the film can be an arduous task because of its unconventional approach to storytelling and the many layers that are interspersed within it. However, if there was something that captivated my attention, it was the role of art in the film and the larger role it plays in shaping the protagonists' behavior. Both women are artists, but their styles are vastly different. Ha Eun relishes in hyperrealism and looks at it as a form of emotional truth seeking. We see this first during her first date with Jin Woo when she tells him that she has to draw him in order to confirm her feelings. Additionally, when she discovers that Jin Woo does not view her artistic passions as more than a hobby, she realizes that marrying him will also result in her being detached from reality, particularly her true identity. It was perhaps the first wake up call of many that ultimately led her to leaving him at the altar later in the movie.
On the other hand, like Mi So, her artistic style is eccentric and fantastical. Her work is more abstract and likened to that of Picasso with her often opting to offer more distorted versions of her subjects instead of making them appear as real as possible. Mi So adopts a similar approach to life as we see her often resorting to fabricating her life rather than telling those around her what her true circumstances her. As a young adult, Mi So sends optimistic and exciting life updates to Ha Eun in the form of letters but fails to include the mundanity and difficulty of her working an assortment of part time jobs or that the boyfriend she left to Seoul with ended up cheating on her. For me, it was even questionable if she truly traveled to Europe and that the gifts she brought were from there ( but I could have truly misunderstood this). Mi So's fabrications take a life of their own after she adopts Ha-Eun and Jin Woo's daughter after Ha-Eun's death from childbirth. This is seen in not only how the screenplay shifts from alternate timelines- one that is fake and one that is real, but also in how Mi Soo hides Ha Eun's death from the rest of the world not only by hiding the fact that she died but also by completing Ha-Eun's half finished portrait and submitting the very work she was questioned about in the first scene under her friend's name.
I don't think its far to brand Mi So as a liar and a con-artist, but I think her actions reflect her desperately clinging to and nurturing the existence of Ha-Eun even if she may no longer be physically present. It made me really think about who a soulmate really is and how the souls are always interconnected even when their bodies may not- much like the reference made in the film to how a shadow is always present when the sun is around.
Soulmate is one of those films that feels like art that needs to be treasured in a museum. It's meant to move its viewers rather than entertain them.

One of the best coming-of-age posters I've ever seen, the feeling of nostalgia and friendship they bring is comforting and melancholic.

I have for almost 3 weeks been putting off finishing my English assignment for no real reason, I'm just for some reason not doing it. It's easter break so it can wait.
I've been meaning to watch "Tell Me That You Love Me" which is a South Korean remake of the Japanese show "Say That You Love Me". I made it through about 2 and a half episodes, but it started buffering and I couldn't bother reconnecting to the internet so, that's where I've ended up. I usually don't really enjoy shows about adults adulting, but this one seems good and emotionally loaded to the point where I'm partaking in it.
I have literally nothing scheduled for a while, but I'm excited for Japan's GP on Sunday. Will have to wake up at 7 in the morning, but it's fine I guess...
ALSO on Monday next week "선재 업고 뒤어" (Lovely Runner is the English title I think they've settled on) is premiering the first episode and I'm stoked. It's based on a WebToon that I would like to read, but I'm saving it for afterward to spare myself from any dissapointment while watching the show. Byeon Wooseok is in it (damaged Russian-Korean drug smuggler CEO in Strong Girl Nam-soon (shit show btw)) and my bff Kim Hyeyoon (of Extraordinary You fame). They have a 30 cm height difference though... for some reason Hyeyoon is always casted with guys five times her height. Anyway it's about this girl whose favorite singer dies, she goes back in time and has to find a way to reroute his path. Seems promising, will be watching because my favorite actors are in it lol.
Speaking of Byeon Wooseok, he has caused me grave emotional distress due to that gut wrenching movie "Soulmate" from 2023. You know, I was genuinely excited as he was getting more work after 20th Century Girl, but the actual heartbreak Soulmate caused me is unexplainable. I think about it all the time, anyway never ask me to watch a movie about two girls being friends I can't take it. I will not ever discuss 20th Century Girl so don't even bring it up.
On the 11th, the second season of Heartbreak High is coming out. I don't honestly know what I thought about the first season, it was too messy and not messy enough at the same time. Will be tuning in for this season though!
I've been thinking that I need to buy stuff. I've become too stingy. I put stuff in my cart and leave it there until it's gone out of stock. It's horrible I need to spend money. Either a vinyl or like an album of sorts, maybe a pair of jeans idk. RIIZE aren't releasing a physical album until June I think, so I have nothing to do on that front. Might check out Beyoncé's vinyls though...
Anyway, to wrap up, I'd like to recommend "Better Days" (2019), one of my favorite movies ever. I've watched it so many times, and each time I finish it I've learned something new. Music wise... Hikaru Utada's One Last Kiss. No reason just good song :) Will be having Chinese food for dinner.
Take care~~

Soulmate (2023) dir. Min Yong Keun. 소울메이트 (2023) dir. 민용근. 7.4/10
I would not recommend this movie to my friends. I would not rewatch this movie.
Cute cat.
I got Itaewon class vibes when they discuss what they like about each other to each other. I get 20th Century Girl vibes from the love triangle.
When you really think this is going to be a gay movie but it's straight all the way through. I'm left with more questions than answers with this film. The time jumps are kinda confusing and not knowing fully what reality is is confusing lol. This boy is not worth all this fighting, but also he deserves to know about his kid.. Whenever Mi So and Ha Eun fight, I'm like what are we even fighting about? What is the real issue here, especially if you're not even gay for each other?

Pieces of My Heart - Chapter 2 Stray Kids OT8 x reader, Soulmate AU
Masterlist | Next Part
A sharp ringing noise brought you out of your little pocket of comfort. Jeongin pulled away just enough to grab his phone out and he answered immediately, one arm still holding onto you. You heard someone ask something from the other end, mostly likely a ‘where are you’ if you heard right, and Jeongin started babbling away in Korean to whoever was on the other end, no doubt filling them in at the events of the past few minutes.
Or, as a quick check of your phone informed you, the past 20 minutes. You hadn’t even been aware at the passing of time, most likely the hugs you had let yourself get lost in.
Suddenly you weren’t so judgmental of the dopey smiles and love drunk actions of tv or movie characters after they met their soulmates because you were sure you sported a stupid smile of your own right now.
You pulled away from Jeongin, reassuringly patting his arm as he suddenly reacted to your actions. You grabbed your now cold and long forgotten drinks and headed over to a trash can you had spotted, skipping back over to him. It seemed like he had finished his conversation, and he was practically vibrating with energy.
“I have to go back,”  he explained, pausing as he considered his words. “Do you …want come with me?”
You bit your lip. “To meet the others?”
He nodded, and you swallowed at the thought. Meeting your soulmate was one thing, it put you on the same level. But meeting the rest of Stray Kids? At this point they were still your idols, and even being the soulmate of one of them didn’t change how much you were fangirling at this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Although, it wasn’t a once in a lifetime opportunity, was it?
You reached out to grab Jeongin’s hand, and he let you so easily that you were suddenly hit with the realization that this man was your soulmate. Someone who would be your best friend, a constant source of comfort, the yin to your yang, possibly even a future lover.
You were going to meet the rest of Stray Kids one way or another. Why not now?
Later on, you might regret your decision, but in the moment the dopamine from meeting your soulmate gave you the confidence you needed to nod your head enthusiastically, letting out a laugh as Jeongin eagerly pulled you along with him. You continued to laugh even harder as you realized you were heading in the direction of your hotel, wondering just how long fate had been spinning its web to get you two to meet.
Your amusement sobered up pretty quickly as you reached the lobby, Jeongin letting go of your hand to pull his cap down farther as he hurried to the elevators. The red string that tied you two together still followed him as he moved, the color somehow shining brighter than before.
And 5 similar red strings curled around each other as they left your chest, shooting straight up into the ceiling.
For a second you hesitated, taking a few steps around in random directions just to be sure, but they were definitely pointing up into the floors above you. Jeongin noticed your sudden hesitation, returning to your side with a questioning look.
“Okay?”
You nodded and forced your eyes away from the other 5 strings. The other 5 of your soulmates are currently residing in the very hotel you were in.
What were the odds?
“My soulmate bond, it’s red strings. You aren’t the only one I have,” You explained to Jeongin as you both entered the elevator. “The others are here too.”
He nodded his head in understanding. “How many?”
“In total? 8, including you.”
And at the look he gave you, you let yourself accept the reality that you had slowly been realizing all along.
What were the odds?
When you arrived at the 6th floor, you didn’t even wait for Jeongin to lead you. You followed the red strings that all resided on the same floor, stopping at the first door that a string disappeared into. One look back at your soulmate confirmed your suspicions, and he let out a laugh of disbelief.
“Wow, this is …“ He said something else in Korean before repeating a ‘wow’.
You moved along the corridor, pointing out the next door to the left where two strings were, and then to one door on the right side where the last two strings remained. Jeongin was shaking his head in disbelief, and then he was pulling you back from the doors, into his arms again.
“Don’t meet them. Be my Stay,” He whined, his smile reassuring you that he was somewhat joking.
You weren’t sure when he had taken off his mask, but you were able to actually see his entire face now, and you couldn’t help but stare. His grip on you tightened and his smile turned into a smirk as he realized. You forced yourself to keep his gaze, even as you felt your cheeks begin to heat up.
“I’ll always be yours, Jeongin.”
It was the first time you said his name out loud, and he seemed to like it. He gave you one last squeeze, before he pulled you to the last door in the corridor. This one didn’t have any red strings leading into it, so you weren’t surprised when Jeongin scanned the door open and led you into an empty room. He pulled out his phone and started to text something while you looked around.
There was a still full suitcase that was half zipped up, a hoodie thrown over the chair it resided on. The other suitcase was on the bed, completely open and only slightly disturbed as it seems its owner simply pulled out the clothes on top to use. Jeongin noticed the suitcase and immediately jumped over to grab it, moving it from the bed over to the desk as he apologized in both Korean and English.
“It’s okay,” You reassured him, only sitting down on the bed when he gestured for you to do so. You didn’t want to accidentally sit on another member’s bed without their permission. “Did you tell the others?”
The nerves from before were back, the once peaceful calm you had felt now melting away at the prospect of meeting not only Stray Kids, but your soulmates as well.
Jeongin noticed your anxiety, and he reached over to grab your hand. “I told them to come to my room. Is it okay?”
I didn’t get to answer before there was a knock on the door, a loud voice outside yelling something in Korean. You recognized the voice, and you gave Jeongin a wide-eyed look.
He was uncharacteristically serious as his grip on your hand tightened. “You okay? I- I can tell them leave if you want.”
“Do they know?” You asked again.
He shook his head. “I want it to be … a surprise.”
You stared into his eyes, licking your lips and taking a deep breath. You looked over at the door as the knock came once again, and then back at your soulmate. You gave a small nod.
“I’m okay.”
Jeongin squeezed your hand once and then let go, giving you a reassuring smile. And then he went to open the door.
The hotel room was positioned in such a way that from your spot on the bed you couldn’t see the door, but from the yells earlier you knew it was at least Changbin on the other side. You weren’t quite expecting to see Chan round the corner first, nor were you ready for the smile that lit up his face at the sight of you.
“Oh, hey! You must be Jeongin’s soulmate. It’s so nice to meet you. My name’s Christopher, you can call me Chris.” He held out his hand to shake, but you were a bit hesitant to grab it.
Would he know immediately? Would you have to explain it to him?
His face furrowed in confusion, so you quickly reacted, grabbing his hand. “Chris, right. I know, um, I’m actually kind of a Stay?” You let out a nervous laugh, and then introduced yourself in return.
“Yeah, Jeongin was very happy to point that out. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him that excited,” Chan said, and he glanced down.
You were still shaking his hand.
With a quick apology, you let go and immediately ducked your hand. You wondered if he felt it, the spark, the energy, the same thing you had felt when you had hugged Jeongin for the first time. Or maybe you needed to be closer? Maybe he needed to realize it?
Chan was frowning again when you raised your gaze, his eyes staring deep into yours, but Changbin rounding the corner distracted both of you from your questions.
“Ah, Jeongin’s soulmate!” He didn’t even hesitate to pull you into a hug, and you couldn’t help the squeak that left your mouth as you were pulled off the bed, your feet barely touching the ground from where he dangled in his embrace.
Jeongin said something in an exasperated tone, and Changbin put you down.
“Sorry, sorry. I got too excited,” He said, smiling widely as he gave you a once over. He then turned around and said something in Korean that had both Jeongin and Chan yelling at him, to which he raised his hands in mock defense.
Jeongin must have left the hotel door room open, because there was a yell from out in the hall and suddenly someone was running in, babbling something in Korean. When Han Jisung spotted you, he pointed at you in surprise.
“Ah, it’s true! Jeongin really found his soulmate?!”
“Hey, be quiet. Do you want the whole world to hear?”
And right behind him, were the last two strings on this floor. Felix and Hyunjin both walked in and gave you a bow each, although Felix was quick to bounce past Jisung to pull you into a hug.
“I can’t believe he was the first one to find his soulmate,” he said to the group as a whole, and then whispering in your ear, “I’m glad. He deserves it.”
You were frozen, not just from the sudden appearance of some of the most beautiful men you had ever laid your eyes on, but from the sudden onslaught of emotions that washed over you. The red strings burned your chest, and you couldn’t find your voice, struggling with the happiness and love and excitement that mixed with your past anxiety and nervousness into a bundle of ‘what the fuck’.
And when Felix pulled away in worry at your lack of reaction, his eyes met yours.
The second puzzle piece clicked into place.
He gasped, his grip on your shoulders falling as he stumbled back, his eyes darting around the room before landing on Jeongin. The youngest began to say something, possibly trying to explain, but when he noticed your face, he paused. The others all turned to look at you in confusion as he pushed his way past to get to you, but a hand on your shoulder beat him to it.
“Breathe, sweetheart. Breathe.”
You inhaled so suddenly that your vision went blurry, not having realized you were holding your breath to begin with. Felix started crying, saying something to Jeongin, and you suddenly felt panicked. The hand on your shoulder moved up and placed itself against your cheeks, turning your face, and you were forced to stare into the eyes of Chan.
“Don’t worry about them, okay? Take another deep breath. You’re okay.”
The third puzzle piece slid into place slowly, like the hands that from your shoulders, down your arms, and squeezed your hands. Jeongin was apologizing, Felix was apologizing back, meanwhile Changbin, Hyunjin and Jisung were asking questions and looked confused. But Chan was calm, helping you catch you breath.
Jeongin kneeled down in front of you, next to Chan, and he gave your knee a squeeze. “I’m sorry. This was too much.”
Felix pushed past the two of them and practically tackled you with his hug, his face burrowing into your neck as he let out a sniffle. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. I don’t want to steal you away from him.”
You let out a laugh, your own eyes welling up with tears. “Please don’t apologize. You’re not stealing me away from anyone. It’s not your fault.”
“Ah, please don’t cry. I can’t stand it when people cry.”
“You’re crying too!”
“It’s normal to cry when you meet your soulmate!” Felix argued.
There was a gasp from one of the remaining three who were still standing off to the side. You looked over and gave them a hesitant smile.
“Surprise?”

This Week in BL - lots, just LOTS
I thought I would be pretty lean reporting for Oct 2023 but then (for reasons relayed here) the weeklies got saved by a drunk avenging hacker in a hotel room.
Oct 2023 Wk 1
Tumblr media
Except I still can't watch IFYLITA, because I use my other computer for it.
Gotta say though, watching tese mostly all in one day (for travel reasons) is beyond even my BL superpowers. I did my best tho.
Ongoing Series - Thai
Tumblr media
Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 8 of 12 - Sailom, sweetie, Kang is never sleeping alone again. It wasn't really translated, but Kang's way of speaking in that opening stinger was VERY cutsie. Also the gay sheets have made another appearance. I do have to say that "rich kid problems" is not my favorite story arc, but I still think this is a great Thai BL.
Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 6 of 8 - I love that they are finally talking to each other but Yi’s whole personality is shifting. Honestly, this pair is great at kissing and casual touches, but the friendships are the best thing about this franchise. Also Mr Chenne remains my fav character. But where did Diao's baby superhero team come from? And why? This show is very confusing... It’s also not very good.
Tumblr media
My Universe (Sun iQIYI) You Are My Soulmate ep 7 - This was the one of the series I was looking forward to the most, because silly, pretty, and v BL. It is, in fact all those things and nothing more. So I'm enjoying it, of course.
Tumblr media
Absolute Zero (Thai Weds iQIYI) ep 2 of 12 - I like it, but it feels like it's gonna be so sad. I'm having Promise and Dew the movie flashbacks. Plus 12 eps seems too long for this narrative thread. I am worried.
Venus in the Sky (Tues iQIYI) 6 of 10 eps - This show is so slow it's hardly worth the bandwidth, but we attained "baby is a floppy drunk" and thus a finger bite frustration scene, which was nice.
Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 9 of 10 (not a BL but I'm watching it anyway) - Ray is so mean to Sand. The not-a-thing with Sand & Nick was cute. I’ve had several experiences like that. All my queer friendship groups tend to be incestuous, but sometimes they're just too much of a sibling and trying to sleep with them is the most unsexy thing in the universe. To be fair, I’ve also been in Ton’s position (this ep). Jojo sure makes queer shizz. But also, Ton must have a magic rod with everyone wanting a repeat. (I'm so glad they put Neo in this role, no one else at GMMTV could play him as complex or sympathetic.)
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
You Are Mine (Taiwan Fri Viki) eps 5 of 10 - now officially known by me as "I'm too sunshine for this seme" where our boss is being hella obvious but our cinnamon roll is just too ooey-gooey to notice. Al.though, baby boy, he takes you home, sleeps on top of you, feeds you cookies (IN HIS BED) and keeps you in his space? Surely even this sunshine is catching a few rays of truth?
Gaga's *unintelligible gay murmuring* is my favorite caption EVER.
Also the name of my new ASMR YT channel.
Bon Appetit (Korea Weds iQIYI) 3-4 of 8 - ah gay panic, also what is Korea's obsession with 7 year separations? Is it only true love if you wait 7 years? Dohoon is SUCH a flirt, it's kinda great! Also, since it's Korea, we got us a bit of a love triangle with 2 hyung romances, so I (of course) am torn. Either way Dohoon is going down. I do love how much time we are spending with the food in this drama, finally one that lives up to its name. On an entirely different note, Korean camping is the most bizare thing to me. It's SO damn civilized. There will be NO DIRT. They pack blow torches. And full dinner sets. Every time I see it in a drama, I'm amused.
Tumblr media
My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 7 of 8 - OMG these 2 are so in love with each other, and so ridiculous about it. They're tiny idiots but I love them.
If It’s With You AKA Even If I Fall In Love With You AKA Kimi to nara Koi wo Shite Mite mo’ (Japan Gaga) ep 1 of 5 - from MBS a live action adaptation of Kubota Maru’s manga ‘君となら恋をしてみても. Amane has stopped loving people due to trauma until he meets Ryuji. At first Amane just wants to play with Ryuji but… feelings.
I like the odd Japanese mature-childishness in this one. Plus a broken sunshine who is out in a kind of aggresive way and an instinctive caring seme. What's not to love? Well, it's Japan I'm sure it will surprise me one way or another.
Mr Cinderella 2 (Vietnam Sat YT) ep 3 of ? - the cray cray step brother quazi incest is a bit much for me. Why does VBL just suddenly get so unhinged like this?
Kiseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) ep 9 of 13(?) - resumes next week
Tumblr media
It's Airing But...
I Feel You Linger in the Air (Fri grey) ep 8 of 12 - I will try to watch 8-12 and do a series review when I get back in November but... not sure I will be able to. Fingers crossed.
Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 8fin - I will complete and drop a review in Nov.
What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - 4th installment in this series (1st series, 1 special, 1 movie prior) about a lawyer who lives with his boyfriend, a hairdresser, and cooks for him. I find thie series more fun to binge, som I'm waiting until it completes its run.
I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan Tues Netflix-Japan & ????) - in classic JBL fashion, I Cannot Reach You could not be reached.
Can I Buy Your Love From A Vending Machine? AKA Sono Koi, Jihanki de Kaemasu ka? (Japan cinema release in-country only) - This one is a movie from Japan so in customary fashion who tf knows when (or if) it will get international distribution. Salaryman Ayumu Koiwai just can't tear his eyes away from the strong, muscular man as he checks on the stocks of the vending machine in his office.
Tumblr media
In case you missed it?
Crazy Handsome Rich (Sun Gaga) Apparently ended its run I DNFed this at ep 3. So no review from me.
My Beautiful Man: Eternal AKA Utsukushii Kare Eternal (Japan movie Viki & Gaga) - Play it again Sam, only I'm kinda tired of this song. I was v dramatic tho. And it's always nice to be reminded JBL can kiss when it puts its mind to it. 8/10
Next Week Looks Like This
Upcoming October BL
Tumblr media
10/31 SHADOW (Thai VIU ????) - this is a horror BL featuring ghosts and other paranormal elements in a high school setting. I'm not wild about Thai horror (or horror at all, but if it must be done in BL let Japan do it). It features Singto (who did paranormal BL He's Coming to Me) opposite Fluke N (who's done a couple horror's before). Also Fiat. Dan suffers from sleep paralysis, and in his dreams he sees a shadow that suffocates him. It gets worse when he transfers schools.
10/? Bump Up Project AKA Bump Up Business (Korea ????) - BL staring OnlyOneOf that released(??) as a movie in July but is now being recut and reissued as a series. Stars NineMill and from Idol Romance bulled as a love story between a trainee who is about to debut and a celebrity from the same agency (based on a webtoon). OnlyOneOf have been auditioning for this since Libido IMHO. You can watch me chronicle their BL MV work in this post. Idol Romance will do sad but can do good kisses (Wish You, Nobleman Ryu, Once Again, Kissable Lips, Poongduck 304, Tasty Florida, Tinted With You) but I don't think we will get any in this. After that OmegaX Shoulder bullshizz buisness I am very wary of this show.
2023 forthcoming BL master post (see comments, some are inaccurate, NOT KEPT UPDATED).
