Ichirin no hana
Sumary: For the @soulmatebingo 2021. Megumi doesn't get pretty flowers falling over his head when he encounters his soulmate for the first time. Instead, he gets the fractured petals of a wretched soul rotting away, like the feeling of his first love.
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen
Relationships: Megumi Fushiguro/Sukuna Ryoumen, Megumi Fushiguro & Gojou Satoru, Megumi Fushiguro & Itadori Yuji
Megumi sees his firsts petals when Gojou shows him one of Sukuna’s cursed fingers for the first time.
He’s twelve when small white petals with a yellowish tin on their center fall over Megumi’s mess of dark, black hair and he doesn’t understand what is happening to him.
He knows about soulmates, but as far as Megumi is aware, most people only have full blooming flowers fall over their heads as they encounter their soulmate for the first time, or whenever both soulmates are going through a deeply emotional moment.
It is rarely a one sided experience, as the flowers are a physical representation of your soulmates emotions. It doesn’t happen over nothing and there are no documented instances of people only having petals fall over their heads.
When Gojou sees the petals, he smirks like it’s the best thing he’s seen in a long time. “Plum petals.” He grins, picking up one of the petals on Megumi’s head and twirling it around his slender fingers. “It seems that even fractured souls are able to feel loyalty.”
“I don’t understand.” Mumbles the young boy, looking up at Gojou and expecting an answer out of him. Believing in the man even when he knows that he shouldn’t. Gojou doesn’t love him, he’s not genuinely worried about him or anyone, actually.
“You don’t have to understand, Megumi-chan.” He sings songs, ruffling his protégé’s head and letting all the petals fall off as he does it. “Just know that your soulmate wants you as much as you want him.” Whispers the white haired man.
“But I don’t know him.” Wonders Megumi. There’s no one here besides himself and Gojou, and there’s no way that the stronger sorcerer in history is his soulmate. Not because Megumi doesn’t deserve the stronger sorcerer in history as a soulmate but because they’ve known each other for years already.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head about it.” Smiles Gojou indulgently. “Maybe the day will come when you’ll have to worry about your soulmate, maybe you’ll never have to.” He smiles. “Either way, having you around will only prove to be interesting.”
Megumi doesn’t want to be interesting, he just wants to meet his soulmate. He desperately wants to be dear to someone, to be loved by someone.
The idea of a person loving him more than anything seems novel to him. He swears he will love this person just as passionately, if only, he could meet him.
The idea rots like his first petals over time, as he slowly begins to understand why the petals only appear near Sukuna’s remains. But the need and the unwelcome love sickness never go away.
When Megumi passes Itadori on the courtyard of his former school he can faintly smell the scent of plums around him before feeling Sukuna’s presence all over the boy.
In the end, he ends up following the scent of plumps, unable to actually follow the pink-haired boy’s crazy running abilities.
When they finally talk face to face, one single petal falls in between them. The remnants of a fractured soul, loyal even after death. “Itadori Yuji, right?” He asks, completely ignoring the petal falling in between them.
Itadori Yuji is not his soulmate, he was too stupid to understand his circumstances before but now, after years searching Sukuna’s cursed fingers, he understands exactly who is his soulmate.
Itadori-kun is not his soulmate, but he has a part of him on his possession.
The boy doesn’t seem to understand this, his eyes opening in surprise, almost sparkling with joy at the sight of this one single petal. “Did you see it?” He asks, bright emotions filling his voice with cheer and wonder.
He suddenly breaks the distance amid them, taking Megumi’s hand in between his own.
“It’s not what you think.” Counters the young sorcerer. “We are not soulmates.” He clarifies, managing to break free off Itadori’s hands, even when at his words, the boy frowns.
“But how do you know?” Asks Itadori.
Megumi ignores him, getting his phone out of his pocket “I’m sorry but we don’t have much time, the cursed object you have in your possession is very dangerous. Hand it over right away.” He orders, his voice hard, trying to be as cold as posible with the boy.
“Cursed object?” Mumbles the pink haired boy, looking at the picture on Megumi’s phone, who pockets it as soon as Itadori gets a good look at the picture. “Oh! I found this!” He exclaims happily. “I wouldn’t mind giving it to you but my sempai has it.” He sighs finally, throwing an old looking box right into Megumi’s hands.
The box that Itadori ends up passing to him is empty, he only followed it because of the feeling of Sukuna’s lingering cursed energy. (The lingering smell of plumps in the summer).
They quickly run all the way back to Itadori’s school togheter and as they arrive at the entrance of it Megumi tries to leave the pink haired boy behind, really. But a part of him is actually relieved to see him jump and break his way into the school, saving both, his classmates and Megumi himself.
He’s surprised more than anything, Itadori-kun is stronger and faster than most sorcerers, yet the cursed energy around him is abysmal, almost non-existent.
When Itadori-kun eats Sukuna’s fingers without even flinching Megumi almost whishes Itadori was strong enough to fight the cursed spirit, but he can already smell the ume flowers raining over him like a storm waiting to happen.
The screeching laugh that comes from deep within Itadori’s chest is maddening, the cursed energy has him choking, almost reaching for air.
He feels whole all the same, even if his body tells him to run, to get as far as possible from the beast, the predator, waiting to eat him up.
His soul, his heart, tells him to stay, to never leave his soulmate.
He can’t even begin to understand his own feelings.
A part of him wants Sukuna to ignore him, to lose himself in between his thirst for blood and soul hunger.
Another part of him wants the monster to notice him, to take him in between his claws and to never be away from him again.
“I knew it!” Exclaims the cursed spirit, ripping off Itadori’s shirt. “Light is best appreciated in the flesh!” Oddly he still looks human, just Itadori full of tattoos and grinning like a maniac. But the aura around him is different, even if his cursed energy weren’t so overwhelming, the sheer blood thirst around him are a dead give away as to what exactly he has in front of him. “Now… Where is the people?” He asks to no one, his face and nose moving like a blood hound. “Where…?” He starts but stops himself just as he sees Megumi.
The creature possessing the sweet boy he’s just meet, fully opens his fours eyes just as he sees the young sorcerer. Red spidery, higanbana flowers falling over the monster’s head.
A deep love, dead before it could even start.

Old Guard hc #154
Tumblr media
Square: Thoughts on skin
Fandom/Pairing: The Old Guard, joe x nicky
Tags/Warnings: Fluff
Nicky is a master at ignoring distractions. Drop him on a roof with a rifle and he can stay there for hours, flat and still on his stomach, looking through the scope as he patiently waits for his target. Leave him at a crowded coffee shop and he can read through an entire book, almost forgetting that he’s not alone as he gets swept up in the pages.
So it really doesn’t make any sense that he’s an utter failure at ignoring Joe.
His left forearm itches. No, itches isn’t right. Itches is a persistent kind of throbbing that can be ignored if enough dedication is put into it. His left forearm does not itch. His forearm feels invaded, like he just stuck his arm inside a tank full of those pedicure fishes, like he just picked a fruit off a plant without checking for ants first and now they’re running freely across his body. It’s a sensation that makes focusing on his book impossible.
Nicky snaps his book shut and glares at Joe. The infuriating sensation dials down to a warm throb.
“Hi,” Joe says, smiling sheepishly at him. That’s it? He went through so much effort just to say hi?! Joe peeks at his own forearm, where his last thought, ‘He went through so much effort just to say hi?!’ is boldly written. “Yup.”
The words on Joe’s arm quickly scramble into several half-formed words; most of them are in Italian but Joe spots some Arabic curses in there as well. After several seconds, the words settle on ‘YUSUF’, hot and agitated, and Joe pouts.
On Nicky’s arm, ‘I just wanted a kiss’ appears. A ‘please?’ shows up not a second later, tacked onto the end like an afterthought.
Nicky glowers at his husband. “You’re ridiculous,” he mutters grumpily, and like the complete pushover that he is, because he really has to learn how to say no to Joe one day, he leans forward and kisses his husband.
Joe smiles victoriously against his mouth, tangling his fingers in Nicky’s hair, holding him captive, as if Nicky would ever want to pull away, and Nicky doesn’t have to look down to know ‘I love you’ is written across his arm, achingly familiar with the way those words sear themselves into his skin.
Nicky doesn’t think he’s ever going to be able to ignore Joe.

Square: Gold Marks
Fandom/Pairing: The Old Guard, joe x nicky
Tags/Warnings: Fluff
Two golden marks in the exact shape and size of Nicky’s hands cradle Joe’s face. Thumbprints frame the corner of his mouth while slim fingers curl under his jaw and over his ears. Nicky has lost count of how many times he has lined his hands up with the marks, only to dip in for a kiss not a moment later. Every single time he does this, Joe wraps his hands around Nicky’s wrists, his thumbs directly over the pulse points, covering the golden marks there.
It’s their favorite marks yet.

Old Guard hc #156
Tumblr media
Square: Soul Goose
Fandom/Pairing: The Old Guard, joe x nicky
Tags/Warnings: Crack, thoughts of animal abuse
“I’m going to kill your goose!” Nicky growls, stalking into their bedroom. He doesn’t care that the devil bird will come back to life seconds later, he’s going to strangle that damn bird. He’s going to wrap his hands around her black feathered neck and squeeze.
Joe looks up from his book and sighs. “What did she do this time?”
Nicky holds up his only pair of shoes. “She destroyed my shoes.” They were completely tattered. The rubber soles have been thoroughly chewed up, the laces are missing, the metal rings where the laces pass through have teeth indents, and the fabric that was holding everything together is absolutely shredded.
We should sell the goose to an embassy for document disposal, Nicky bitterly thinks. At least then, he would never have to see that stupid bird again.
Joe puts his book down and rolls out of bed. Scowling, he takes one shoe from Nicky and yells, “Iishraq!”
Centuries ago, when Nicky learned what iishraq meant, he had laughed. Surely Yusuf was joking with him. His goose was the most hostile bird Nicky had ever had the displeasure of meeting. Every single day, that demonic bird would bite him, destroy his things, or screech at him. If she was in a particularly bad mood, it was all three. She was as far from sunshine as one could possibly be!
Iishraq peeks her head around the doorframe and Nicky automatically raises his arm with the shoe. He’s going to knock her white head clean off her body. He swears to god he will. Without looking at him, Joe catches his arm.
“No,” Joe tells him, tightening his grip until Nicky is reluctantly putting his arm back down. Iishraq squawks with glee—a grating sound that makes the hair on Nicky’s arms stand on end—and Joe points to her with Nicky’s destroyed shoe, promptly shutting her up. “Stop, you are not a gosling anymore. You can’t keep acting like one!”
Iishraq waddles into their room, stopping two feet away from them. Her black chest is puffed out and her black and white wings are twitching at her side, and Nicky tenses. He’s been on the wrong end of those wings too many times to count, and while the bruises heal before they even have the chance to settle, it still hurts. Plus, when Iishrak fights, she doesn’t use just her wings, no, she plays dirty and she fucking bites too.
“Hey, none of that!” Joe tells her, and because it’s Joe, she would have bitten anybody else already, she deflates. “Thank you. Now why are you destroying Nicky’s stuff? I thought we got past this phase six hundred years ago.” Iishraq starts to spread her wings and Joe makes a warning sound from the back of his throat.
Nicky wants to stick his tongue out at her, he’s defending me! It must be written all over his face though because she snaps her black bill at Nicky, who would have lunged at her if it wasn’t for Joe’s hand on his chest. After another warning sound from Joe, she lowers her wings.
“Stop it, both of you!” Joe snaps. “Luna and I don’t have this problem.”
Luna is a darling, a complete angel. Comparing Luna to that demon should be a crime. The worst thing Luna ever did to Joe was chew on his sandals and that was only because Joe accidentally stepped on her wing while intoxicated.
“Luna isn’t a jealous psychopath,” Nicky hisses and Iishrak honks at him. Her wings are spread out again. She’s puffing up and flapping her wings, and yeah, Nicky does want to fight. Winner gets Joe. Let’s go. Nicky raises his arm with the shoe. His aim is impeccable, he’s not going to miss her fat ass. Not at this distance.
Joe curses, yanks Nicky’s arm down and pushes Iishrak back several feet. “You two are literally over 900 years old! Will you both please start acting like it?”
“She started it!” She’s the one who bit him first! Who ripped up his clothes first, who pooped in his bedroll first. Nicky has never even stabbed her once in all of these years. “Your goose is a psycho!”
“Yeah, well, she’s mine.” Iishrak makes an offended noise and Joe turns to look at her. “If you don’t like the title, stop acting like one. Don’t give me that look. Antagonizing Nicky for no reason is psychopathic behavior.”
Iishrak honks and turns away, flapping her wings against the floor. Nicky rolls his eyes, she’s such a drama queen. Every single time she doesn’t get her way, she throws a giant tantrum and only calms down after Joe has paid her a sufficient amount of attention. It’s the most irritating thing ever and Nicky can’t wait for the day Joe finally stop falling for her stupid act.
Today’s not that day though.
Joe immediately dips down to scoop her off the floor and she curls around his body with a dramatic hooonk, burying her face in his neck as he rubs a soothing hand down her back. Nicky rolls his eyes again. Drama. Queen.
“Group hug,” Joe says, opening the arm that’s not full of psychotic goose for Nicky. Nicky shakes his head. Joe’s lost his mind if he thinks Nicky’s going to go anywhere near that damn bird. The only way he’s going to touch that demon is if he’s strangling her. “Group hug,” Joe repeats, giving him a warning look. It’s the ‘I will withhold cuddles and sex’ look. He’s really going to make Nicky do this. Joe raises a brow and yes, he really is.
Nicky grimaces, and joins the stupid hug that’s only stupid because there’s one extra being in it. He does his best to have the least amount of contact with the bane of his existence, curling around Joe’s other side and then Joe ruins it, tightening his arms around both until Nicky has no choice but to have stupid feathers in his face.
The hug lasts two seconds. That’s how long Iishrak lasts before biting him.

Hermoso
Summary: For the @soulmatebingo “Phrase in native language”
Keith gets the word “Hermoso" tattooed on his throat. Lance, instead, gets the word “Idiot” tattooed at the back of his neck.
Length: 2347 words
Relationships: Lance (Voltron)/Keith (Voltron), Keith (Voltron) & Shiro (Voltron)
Warnings: Implied depression, implied low self esteem issues
Also, just a quick reminder that you can commission me at @witcheswritings
Keith is thirteen on his fourth day at the Garrison when the word «Hermoso» writes itself deeply into his throat.
He doesn’t know when it happens exactly, one day he’s mark-less and then suddenly he’s seeing the bold, cursive letters, written there, glaring back at him from the mirror in the boys’ bathroom when he’s done washing his hands.
There’s no way he can hide this, it’s the first thing that comes into his mind when he sees it. Small hands tracing the words with slow, hesitant touches.
It’s almost like his soulmate wants everyone to see these words, to know that he’s... hermoso, whatever that means.
Keith is not so eager for the world to see these words, however.
He would have to wear high collars or scarfs for the rest of his life if he ever thought about covering this mark. But even when there’s no need for him to try and conceal it, as the school doesn’t have any rules against soulmate tattoos, he still feels the need to hide it from the everyone around him.
There’s someone out there now, his soulmate, who’s noticed him or met him for the first time and those thoughts are now tattooed into his throat.
A deep blush travels from his face to his collarbones at the idea. His soulmate is somewhere around the Garrison, and these foreign words are their first thoughts about him.
“Hermoso.” He tries to say with great difficulty, not really sure in how to roll the r in between the word. It ends up sounding awkward and he wonders if his soulmate will teach him how to say it, someday.
Will his soulmate reach out to him?
A part of him wants them to, another part it’s almost afraid.
☰☰
Shiro smiles when he sees the mark on his throat, the older boy engulfs him in a warm hug, honestly happy for him. “My Spanish may be a little rusty.” Admits Shiro, kissing the top of Keith’s head even against the boy’s loud protests. “But I’m almost sure it means beautiful.”
The Garrison’s junior officer looks directly into his eyes as he says this.
“That can’t be” Mumbles Keith, rising the high collar of his uniform up at his chin. Beautiful is what you call flowers, butterflies, and pretty girls. It’s how his father used to talk about Keith’s mom.
“I don’t think I’m wrong.” Shiro smiles indulgently, opening the zipper of his jacket until his tattoo is clearly visible. “I think your soulmate thinks you’re beautiful and that’s fine.” He states. “That is exactly how love is supposed to be.”
“Do you have a mark?” Asks Keith, his little hands wrapping around his throat almost on instinct.
“Yes.” Answers Shiro, lifting the sleeves of his jacket, there, on his wrist the words «Cute Smile» sit comfortable like they belong.
He does have a cute smile, it’s bright and reassuring all the same. The smile of a true leader.
Keith smiles hesitantly. “It’s true.” He admits, Shiro’s smile makes him feel right at home, safe, like there’s nothing wrong in the world even when everything clearly is.
“Then maybe you can be beautiful.” Counters the officer, tapping the top of his nose. “Your soulmate surely thinks so.”
☰☰
Lance is thirteen when he enters the academy; He’s away from his family, he’s miles away from the sea and he’s afraid that he will never make friends with anyone.
But he can feel the space at the tips of his fingers now, his dreams are closer to him now and even if he’s not the space hero protagonist he imagined he’d become as soon as he entered the academy, he knows this is a step closer to his future as pilot.
Four days into the academy, they do weapon training.
It’s a safe begginer’s practice for the most part; they start with blunt weapons as their instructor coldly tells them that there’s no way they can hurt themselves with them, that these weapons are harmless.
Lance can’t help but think that he’s lying, after all, weapons are weapons, specially under the wrong hands.
But he stays silent.
The people at the Garrison obviously want them to get started on safe battle grounds because more than anything, they will be soldiers.
It should be easy, they give them blunt weapons of choice, ranging from brass knuckles to even one big maze that only someone like Hunk should handle at their age.
“You’ll face robots and drones alike; they wont hurt you but they will charge at you, robots are one pointers, drones...” Explains one of his teachers, pointing at the top of the high ceiling where four drones are flying high about them. “Are two pointers. Try and take them on.” He taunts them.
It’s a lot of fun, for the most part. He’s not good with any of the weapons, not even the Bō -Staff, truth is, no one is. But all of them have fun trying, building camaraderie in their failure.
Because they all fail, until Keith.
The boys destroys three big robots with the Bō -Staff just three minutes after his time starts; using its weight and material to his advantage, he’s not superhuman by any means but he’s smart.
Then, he takes the Sai swords.
Without breaking a sweat, the boy runs towards the destroyed robots to propel himself to the high ceiling of the gymnasium at the Garrison, the swords twirling between his fingers before hitting the first drone, then, he uses the momentum to fall into the second drone and hit it too, it’s ridiculous.
The difference in between Keith and the rest of them is enormous.
Around him, all of their classmates are glaring at Keith. There’s nothing wrong if they all fail, that means they need more training.
But if one of them passes in the way Keith is passing, then it means the rest of the class is behind. They’re jealous, bitter.
But Lance can’t help but think:
Él es hermoso, la forma en que se mueve, ágil y mortal. Como una pantera acechando a su presa.
It’s the first time he thinks of the boy. But it surely won’t be the last.
Keith is larger than life, a beautiful monster, oblivious to the world around him; even Lance.
With time, everything he does, is with Keith on his thoughts. Maybe if he gets stronger, he will be at Keith’s level, maybe they will become partners, fighting and flying shoulder to shoulder.
Reaching the stars side by side.
Keith never notices him, or so he thinks, but a week into the Garrison, Lace gets his mark. The word «Idiot» tattooed into the back of his neck, forever.
But he doesn’t notice it until Hunk points it out when they’re changing clothes after gym hours.
“Lance!” He screams exited. “You got your mark!” Probably not even thinking about what  those words say.
Hunk has always been a romantic, in love with love, never thinking about how cruel it can be.
“Really?” Asks Lance just as exited. “What does it say?”
“Oh…” Whispers Hunk, his voice audibly less chipper.
“What?” Insists Lance. “C’mon, Hunk. Don’t put me on edge, big boy.”
“Idiot.” He finally says. “It says idiot.”
“Oh…” Mimics Lance, his voice disappointed but not actually surprised.
A few days later, just at the start of summer, he sees Keith’s mark for the first time.
☰☰
When he tells his family they try to lighten the mood. “Oh, honey.” Laughs his mom through the screen when he video-chats them about it. “Pobrecita tiene que haberte visto hacer alguna tontería.”
Lance chuckles “Pobrecito, mamá.” He corrects her, “my soulmate is a boy, you know.”
At his words, his mom brightens. “Oh!” She exclaims, “You know who he is!”
“Yes.” Responds Lance with a grimace marring his face. “He’s beautiful.”
His mother is happy for him; in fact, his whole family is. But Lance can’t help but feel resentful. This is what Keith thinks of him, his first impression of Lance and he thinks he’s an idiot.
They’ve never exchanged words, never even fought. How stupid can he be if that’s the first thought a complete estranger has of him?
He doesn’t tell Keith that they’re soulmates, he won’t force the bright, beautiful future prodigy of the Garrison to stuck with a stupid cargo pilot.
Then Keith drops out of the Garrison and he doesn’t have to pretend. Without Keith there, Lance doesn’t have to pretend that he’s not in love.
☰☰
When they meet again he notices that Keith no longer hides his mark, now, instead of the high collars and tight shirts at his neck, he wears a black shirt with a deep v neck, showing off both his throat and his collarbones.
“It means beautiful.” He supplies one day, boldly tracing the words on his soulmate’s throat. They’re sitting on Lance’s bed in his room at the castle.
Besides Shiro, Keith has only been comfortable with Lance touching him, after so many physical fights and training together maybe he no longer minds having the cuban boy near him.
Without thinking, Lace’s hand reaches out to the back of his own neck. “I thought you were beautiful, back then.” He confesses. “Beautiful and deadly, like a panther.” Clarifies the brunette, chuckling “I guess I wasn’t wrong, mister red lion.”
“What does your mark says?” Asks the red paladin, hesitant. He knows that Lance has a mark, he probably already knows the obvious, rhat Lace and him are soulmates.
“You don’t remember?” He asks, his voice small, insecure.
Keith puts his legs over Lance’s own, resting his head on his shoulder. “My dad died a year before I entered the Garrison.” He articulates as if it explained anything. “Two months later I met Shiro and he encouraged me to apply.” His is voice small, barely a whisper. “He gave me a reason to keep on going. Suddenly I had a meaning, I was good at flying and at fighting, a natural soldier, but...” He pauses. “I wasn’t happy.”
“Keith…” Tries Lance, not really knowing what to say.
Keith is not really explaining anything but his words are having an impact on Lance anyway. No matter the words tattooed on their skin, even if they weren’t soulmates, Lance knows that he loves the other boy and he would never want him to be unhappy.
Keith interrupts him before he can even voice his thoughts. “I don’t remember when, but you got yourself caught in a rope one day. You were on the ground, just a mess of limbs and rope and I laughed.” He smiles. “I laughed so hard that I cried a little.”
“Glad to be of service.” Mutters Lance, tangling long fingers on Keith’s unruly hair.
“I thought you were an idiot, such an idiot.” Keith whispers, moving into his lap, trying to get as close to Lance as possible. “And I laughed for the first since my father died.” He pauses for a moment, looking up to Lance, trying to gauge his reaction to his words. Lance smiles down at his soulmate. “It was the first thing I thought about you but it wasn’t the last.” He rushes. “I swear.”
“Yeah?” Asks Lance with a goofy grin painted on his face as he carefully removes a rebellious lock of dark hair from Keith’s face.
“You were always around people, always happy.” Smiles Keith. “I wish your mark was different.” He confesses. “You’re funny, you’re brave, you’re tenacious.” Keith pauses for a moment, just to take Lance’s hand with his own. “You make me happy.”
“I’m suddenly fine with my mark if this s what you make of it.” Jokes Lance, even when he knows that he’s lying.
The reality it’s that he’s never going to forget the disappointment and the resentment. He has spent at least four years of his time at the Garrison thinking that his soulmate thought him nothing but an idiot and for some time, he tried to convince himself that Keith was right.
“I hope that’s not true.” Argues Keith. “I’m sorry about your mark.” He apologies. “Especially when my mark is…” He chokes, holding his throat like a lifeline. “Especially when mine is the best thing that could even happen to me.”
“It’s not fine.” Lance confesses. “I really wish it was fine, that I could feel proud of my mark like you do.”
“I’m sorry.” Apologies Keith once again, his face contorting in anguish.
“But it doesn’t mean that what I felt about you has changed. It doesn’t mean that you’re not my soulmate or that I wish you weren’t my soulmate.” He continues, holding onto Keith’s hips and drawing the other boy closer to him.
In this position they’re almost the same height, chest to chest with Keith being a head taller than him for the first time ever. Lance doesn’t mind. No with Keith’s legs straddling him like this.
“I want to make it up to you.” Whispers the red paladin over his lips like a promise.
“You don’t have to.” Answers Lance, his mouth barely touching Keith’s.
Keith doesn’t answer, instead, he closes the gap in between, his lips closing around Lance’s own lower lip with a conteted sigh.
Both boys moan together as they kiss, they’ve been waiting for this moment, building up the tension and the attraction until neither of them could take it anymore.
With a sigh, Keith wraps his arms around Lance’s neck, his fingertips caressing the words hidden at the back of his neck. “You really make me happy.” He murmurs, kissing his soulmate again, the tip of his tongue seeking entrance shyly.
Lance smirks and opens his mouth, his own tongue meeting Keith’s before closing his lips over Keith’s lips. His hands sneaking under the shorter boy’s shirt, feeling the warm skin there.
“You make me happy, too, beautiful.” He whispers, settling a warm, kiss under his soulmate’s jawbone. “Realmente me haces feliz, hermoso.”
Keith sighs, his whole body falling into Lance’s arms, content there.
Safe.

Length: 1479 words
Relationship: Arthur/Merlin
Warnings: I’m bad at comedy
Just a reminder that my friends and I are taking commissions at @witcheswritings
Merlin is at this point in life when he no longer fears geese or any kind of farm animal for that matter.
He comes from a farming village and has survived more than one or two geese bites, so he has already overcame his fear of their terrifying hiss and he’s already accustomed with taking care of their living spaces.
So he’s not afraid of geese but the same can’t be said for most of the people in Camelot, specially the inhabitants of the castle like Arthur or Morgana. Most of them would sooner have dinner with King Uther than to face any sort of farm duty, especially if it had to with the animals.
But lately he’s seen random people around the castle and its surroundings following geese around.
They’re usually girls, holding into their dresses as they follow the violent animals around, at times for the entire day. But every now and then he has also seen some of the stable boys, and even the knights; they’re a bit more daring but also more stupid, specially the knights.
Merlin is usually busy, Arthur rarely gives him a rest and on top of the royal prince, Gaius won’t give him a break in his training as both a sorcerer and a future physician, but he has noticed some patterns:
The most significant one being that after seeing someone following the geese around some days later that person would usually be seen paired up with another person, some of them weren’t public, but if the castle’s gossip was to be believed, and it usually was, all the people who followed the geese around ended up in a loving relationship.
In the end Merlin asumes that there’s nothing rare about people falling in love and doesn’t worry too much about the geese until king Uther calls in Arthur in the middle of the evening to talk about the mysterious peak in relationships around the castle.
Arthur of course, drags Merlin into the throne room as soon as his father calls him, the prince never thinks about hiding anything from his manservant, even when Uther always has something to say about this habit of his. “Sire.” Starts Arthur. “Did you call?”
“Yes.” Drawls the king, lifting a brown at the sight of Merlin trying to camouflage himself with the drapes of the throne room. “I need you to investigate the geese.”
“Geese?” Asks Arthur, surprise clear in his voice.
“There’s been… Reports.” Confesses the king. “Of magical geese appearing out of nowhere, luring our people around and pairing them even beyond decorum.” He explains. “Knights asking peasant’s hands in marriage… ladies of the court having affairs with their maidens.” Clarifies the king. “Some dark sorcery must be at play here.” He growls, a dark shadow obscuring his eyes. “And you will see that it comes to an end.”
“Yes, sire.” Concedes Arthur bowing at his feet. “I won’t fail you.”
“See that you don’t.” Orders the king, dismissing his son and servant. “And Arthur…”
“Yes father?” Asks the prince.
“Next time don’t bring the boy.” Orders Uther, glaring the young servant as if he was a particularly annoying insect.
Arthur visibly falters at his words. “Yes, father.”

Back on his room, Arthur orders Merlin to ready his armour and his horse. “You can’t be serious.” Chuckles Merlin, holding the prince’s armour to his chest.
“Give me the armour, Merlin.” Instructs Arthur, completely ignoring his servant’s words.
“Arthur...” Hesitates the wizard. “Sire.” He amends when he takes notice of Arthur glare. “It’s just geese, and people in love.”
“It’s magic!” Spats the prince, face reddening with anger. “Magic is forbidden in Camelot.” He reminds his servant. “And anyone who is involved with it or tries to hide it in anyway will be executed.” He states, taking the armour from Merlin’s hands. “You have to remember this, Merlin.” He orders, holding Merlin’s wrist with more force than necessary, a hint of desperation clogging his voice.
“Even if it’s sorcery…” Attempts Merlin. “How bad can it be? Just geese and people falling in love?”
Arthur shakes his head, holding Merlin close to his chest. “Don’t you see, Merlin?” He asks desperate. “People falling in love even over their sense of decorum, magic clouding your common sense, even…” He whispers, looking directly into Merlin’s eyes. “Even over our duty to the crown.” He mutters finally letting go of Merlin’s wrist. “It has to be stopped.”
“Yes, sire.” Mutters Merlin, leaving the rest of Arthur’s armour on his bed and leaving with the excuse of going out to ready their horses.
Arthur can feel his servant’s sadness as he leaves. His disappointment on his prince.
Arthur can leave with the weight of Merlin’s sadness pressing on his shoulders if it means that no harm will come to him.
It’s for the best.

Arthur doesn’t find the geese the first day, but three days after, the bird finds him when he’s inspecting the perimeter near the lake.
It’s a really big bird, imposing and aggressive looking. The thing hisses at him and opening the entire expanse of it’s wings it lunges at the prince.
With a cry of distress, unfitting of his rank, Arthur bolts into the lake, his heavy armour nearly drowning him as he struggles to remain above water with the goose still chasing after him.
“Arthur!” He hears the voice of his servant near him.
Heavily panting, he desperately looks around himself. Luckily, there, at the other end of the lake is Merlin.
“Get me out of here!” He urges the young boy, his voice getting a little higher as the goose hisses at him like a cat.
At his order Merlin jumps into the lake, quickly moving to help his prince out of it.
When the bird sees them on firm earth, holding into each other as they try to regain their breath, it leaves them alone, as if its work with them was done.
☰☰
The bird isn’t done, of course, and a few days later, Arthur finds himself following the bird from the castle to the forest.
It should be easy, but the goose acts as if it knew that it is being followed; flying through the market as Arthur runs after it, stopping to try and bit him from time to time and when they finally find themselves in the forest, the blasted animal decides to go down a hill.
Arthur ends up going down the hill, falling at the feet of a child.
“Don’t you want to find your soulmate?” Asks the kid casually sitting on the grass surrounded by a flock of geese.
He can’t be older than twelve; with short white hair and round red eyes, the kid obviously is not human. He must be of magical origins. Dressed as he is in pure white clothes, surrounded by the geese as they flock around the kid but hiss at Arthur.
It will be difficult. He thinks. Killing a child is not easy and if Merlin knew he would never forgive him.
But he has to this, for the his father, the king.
“You’re already thinking of him.” Musses the kid. “Why are you following my geese around if you already know your soulmate?” He asks, genuinely curious.
“My soulmate?” Asks the prince, forgetting himself for just a moment before shaking his head in anger and unsheathing his sword. “Who are you!? Identify yourself!” He demands instead.
“Oh.” Realises the kid. “Your heart hasn’t opened itself to your soulmate yet.” He informs the prince.
“Stop your ramblings.” Demands Arthur. “Who are you!?”
“I’m Gans.” Finally answers the kid. “Caretaker of the soulmate geese.”  He informs Arthur. “I have brought your people the means to find their way to their soulmates, if you so desire.”
“My people have no need for your sorcery!” Screams the prince. “I have no need for your sorcery.” He states then.
“Don’t you want to know, then?” Taunts Gans, red eyes piercing into him. “The identity of your soulmate.”
“I told you.” Growls Arthur. “I have no need of your sorcery. Leave Camelot, or you will be executed.”
The kid laughs, but rises as the geese follow his every movement. “You can’t escape destiny, prince Arthur.” He warns, walking away from him. “The boy is your destiny just as you’re his. Denying your heart will only end up hurting him.”
Gans leaves Camelot just as he arrived, without notice and leaving a trail of loving couples and some broken hearts on his way.
Nothing has changed, thinks Arthur, as he follows the path of the forest back towards the city.
At the entrance Merlin is waiting for him just like always; With a smile on his face and brilliant blue eyes peering at him, asking Arthur for something he can’t never give to his servant.
No matter how much he wants to.

Sterile
Summary: For the @soulmatebingo ! Quirkless people can’t have soulmates, but Izuku doesn’t stay quirkless for long.
Length: 1261 words
Relationship: Kirishima Ejirou/Bakugou Katsuki, Midoriya Izuku/Bakugou Katsuki (Unrequited)
Warnings: If you really like DekuBaku this might be a little sad for you.
Just a reminder that if you want to commission me or my friends you can talk to us at @witcheswritings
The day the doctor tells him that he’s quirkless is also the day they tell him that he doesn’t have a soulmate. Just another way for the universe to destroy his dreams. He thinks, as he discovers at a very young age that not all people are born the same; some people are not even worth loving, apparently.
“I’m afraid.” Hesitates the doctor. “That according to our studies, the year your quirk manifests, is also the year the first dream of your soulmate occurs in the night of your birthday.” He explains, matter-of-factly. “It has to do with your DNA’s structural integrity mutating at a rapid peace within your body, it awakens your bond with your soulmate and it manifest through your dreams. Sadly, there are no documented occasions of quirkless people experiencing soulmate dreams and the community stands with the idea that they don’t really posses any type of bond.”
This is how he explains his situation, as if Izuku’s future loneliness was a study-case.
“I’m so sorry, love.” Cries his mother, hugging him tightly. Izuku knows that she will love him forever, but it’s not the same.
“Maybe…” Smiles Izuku through the tears. “Maybe there is someone out there for me.” The studies about quirkless people are always incomplete. Izuku can’t rule out the idea that even if he’s not capable of having soulmate dreams, his own soulmate could reach him someday. “There’s a chance that I could have a soulmate.” He cries. “And if they have a quirk, then…” He sobs. “Then maybe they can reach me.”
“I would not advice you to harbour those ideas.” Recommends the doctor, writing on a piece of paper. “This is the list of pediatric psychiatrists available at our hospital.” He hands the paper to his mother. “You should consider contacting them.”
The doctor ends the consult like this, shattering Izuku’s dreams and hopes in less than an hour.

Kacchan’s story is different.
The night of his fourth birthday he comes to visit Izuku’s house with a big beautiful smile on his face, red eyes sparkling like burning fire.
“My soulmate has red eyes, just like me!” Exclaims the blond when Izuku opens the door of the apartment for him, and without even allowing the green haired boy to close the door, he takes Izuku’s hand and leads them both to Midoriya’s room.
The boy spends the night telling Izuku about his first dream, the both of them hidding under the covers of his bed with a flashligh in between them.
Kacchan is beautiful like this, with smart, ruby eyes shining, his expression brightening with every single word he speaks about his soulmate.
Izuku smiles but it doesn’t reach his eyes; there was a part of him that wished that Kacchan was his soulmate, that even if he couldn’t reach his only friend on his dreams, the brave beautiful firecracker would surely reach him. Never one to back down from a fight.
But it didn’t happen.
Kacchan has a soulmate and it’s not Izuku.
☰☰
As the years go by, Izuku never shares a soulmate dream with anyone, and as he grows up, he starts to be grateful for this. even when Kacchan starts to distance himself from Izuku.
Because the blond was and will always be the love of his life. Izuku can’t love anyone else. Not having a soulmate, Deku is free to love Kacchan, even when Katsuki is not able to love him in return.
Through the years, just as Deku gets his heart broken with every night that goes, Kacchan discovers new things about his soulmate. The color of his eyes, his hair, his quirk.
By the time they’re both fourteen, Kacchan is able to contact his soulmate, even if both of their parents only allow the boys to keep contact by phone.
“Can you believe that the idiot thought about not applying to U.A?” Izuku hears Kacchan complain to his friends. “As if I could possibly settle from some shitty extra.”
Of course, Kacchan deserves the best, thinks Deku. Someone to be by his side as he takes his path to greatness.
The best of the best.

When Midoriya is finally worthy of One for All, he doesn’t think about getting a soulmate.
His dreams of being a hero that could save everyone with a reassuring smile are now closer than ever. There’s so much more to think about that the possibility of bonding with a possible stranger that he doesn’t allow himself to think about it.
Specially when, by the time July comes around, Kacchan is always around Kirishima-kun.
They’re perfect together, and that it’s the worst thing.
Kirishima can reach Bakugou in a way that he never could. Calming the blond easily with just a few words, always inviting him to participate in group outings but asking him on romantic dates all the same.
Chasing away the nightimares as he enters the dreams of his soulmate.
And it’s not only their dreams.
Kirishima understands Kacchan; Knowing when to hug him, when to give him space, even when they kiss it seems like it’s perfectly timed.
They also fit beautifully; Kacchan likes to sit in Kirishima’s lap when he can, always happy to rest his face on Kirishima’s spiky hair, even if he always complains about it. Kirishima also likes to hold the blond close, his big hands perfectly fitting the big dip of Katsuki’s tiny waist, his head at the perfect place to rest his head on his soulmate’s shoulders.
Somedays even Izuku gets misty-eyed when he sees them fight together. A warrior and his steed that would never waver.
Izuku would never try to break this, but he doesn’t want anyone if it’s not Kacchan, so he doesn’t even think about dreaming.
He doesn’t need a soulmate, he’s happy like this. Seeing Kacchan find his happines from the distance.
Working on his dream of becoming a hero as he forgets about his soul and the love of his life.
The universe is rarely kind to Izuku, though, and so, the night of his birthday he feels a tug on his soul as he sleeps.
When he opens his eyes he knows that he’s dreaming.
It’s in the way the edges of everything around him are out of focus, how he can see but he can’t smell.
It’s because Kacchan head is on his chest as he sits against the hardboard of his childhood bed with the blond resting in fetal position in between his legs, his face conflicted, small tears gathering at the edges of his pretty red eyes.
“Why?” Demands the blond hiding his face on Izuku’s shoulder. “Deku! This can’t be happening.” He cries, clearly afraid.
“I’m sorry, Kacchan.” Cries Izuku, caressing Kacchan’s hair. It feels soft, just like the blond’s body feels warm and his tears feel wet over Izuku’s clothes.
This is how he knows that this is a soulmate dream, but this shouldn’t be happening.
Kacchan’s soul doesn’t belong to him.
This is his own soul trying to bind Kacchan to him, One for All’s power giving what he wants the most, reaching into his soul and offering him Kacchan’s own.
But Kacchan’s soul belongs to Kirishima.
This soulmate dream feels artificial, sterile. Midoriya doesn’t know much about them but Kacchan has told him enough for him to know that whatever this is.
It’s not real.
With a final sob, Izuku kisses Kacchan’s temple with trembling lips. “I’m sorry, Kacchan.” He cries as Kacchan claws at his back, desperation cursing through his whole body. “I love you.”
