I know I hate when people say this but I have decided not to accept Star Trek: Picard season 2 as canon because of how dirty it did the amazing crew of La Sirena. Just a heads up for y'all; I'll still write season 1 stuff as soon as I get my head in the game

i think the whole conversation of whether or not claire was a necessary or good character can be boiled down to one thing - she was meant to show carmy love and tenderness. it didn't really matter if it was an old crush or a new person he randomly met, what mattered is that she was meant to say there is life outside of work and it can be nice and enjoyable, and you can explore hobbies, and you can have someone close to lean on during tough times. and it all ultimately led carmy to decide all of that makes him distracted and let people down at his number one purpose which is the kitchen therefore he doesn't need any amusement or enjoyment, he can do without it, as long as he excels at work. and he's been like this his whole life and he never had a family member make him think otherwise, so baby boy will need 5 more seasons of therapy to even consider changing his mind. but i think the purpose of claire was to show what "normal" life with "normal" people in it may look like and for carmy to convince himself that nope he's too fucked up for that

I actually much prefer a lot of how studio VOLN is handling Blue Exorcist over A-1, I know not a popular opinion in areas and get the places people say looks off but the vibes and heart is so good? also there is a lot of amazing shots and imo calling Rin "ugly" in it is an exaggeration to me, there's some wonky shots but there's also SO MANY he looks great! I think sometimes people forget that A-1 had equally bad shots and design choices like I think a lot are looking at the older seasons through rose colored glasses personally! not to mention they ruined a lot of scenes and how they changed them/adjusted them in their adaption that to me affected characterization and making some of the cast look almost dumb in a situation the manga version shows was more serious and dire!

ultimately my view has been: I'd rather an adaption feel like the heart is in the right place and the characters feel like themselves vs everything being pretty all the time and would rather deal with a few wonky shots of characters over a bad representation of a story and characters I love! visuals are not the only thing that matters to me ever

ok just gonna say something really quick: i absolutely hate Abe's characterisation in the reboot of Clone High because it is nothing like how he acted in season 1 and it just. isn't funny. they've turned this good-intentioned but flawed loser kid who just wants to be like the original Abraham Lincoln but doesn't know how to, into a self-centered and arrogant asshole who literally almost said a horrible ableist slur twice in the first episode. like. i'm being serious, he almost says the R-slur twice in the same minute and i dunno about you but i really don't find it very funny when a) the only "joke" behind it is "oh look at how bad Abe is compared to the more progressive sensitivities of the new generation of clones, isn't he just terrible", and b) they felt the need to completely rewrite a pre-existing character that fans are already attached to to do something against his own morals for the sake of a shitty joke, and c) TOPHER WAS RIGHT THERE!!! isn't he supposed to be the asshole or am i missing something?? like...

i'm not saying you can't have "edgy" or "dark" comedy or whatever, but personally, i don't find it very funny when a character that actually means quite a lot to me and is one of my favourites is twisted and rewritten into an arrogant asshole in an apparent attempt to appeal to the people who hate Abe for his flaws in the original show. especially when he's rewritten to be someone who would say a slur that's literally been used against my fellow disabled peers, myself included. it just feels... wrong. it actually hurts a lot to see a character i once loved and found to be one of the funniest and most important characters in the show be turned into an arrogant dick, with barely any thought or meaning put into him. i don't like what they did with the rest of the OG cast as well (such as Joan making a complete 180 in her entire character, JFK's character assassination, the removal of Gandhi, Cleo barely being in it etc.), but to me, they did Abe the dirtiest in this season and i'm really disappointed that one of my favourite shows had to continue like this :(

so, someone on here (the beautiful @adderess) made a long and very interesting post about how aemond could be in chronic panic due to his eye loss and someone on twitter shared it as well and ofc team bl*ck found it and jumped on it. saying how we babify aemond, how we're chronically online, to go touch grass and that we do mental gymnastic and i just can't believe how deranged they are. the tweet did not mention any other character, it was completely harmless and they made it to share something with the fandom and engage in conversation. and somehow team bl*ck has a problem with it and starts shit unprovoked. we can't even engage in fandom discourse and be interested in fiction anymore because here comes losers who have no other business but be miserable and salty.
