Who is White?

If it is not I, your friendly neighbourhood non-binary deranged literature major, once again to tell you about stuff that the voices™︎ have prompted me.

This time, let's talk about the elephant in the room, the odd one out: Mr. White, a.k.a the fandom's babyboy.

So, what do we factually know about this man?

From what we're directly told in the show:

He's Tee's boyfriend, at least, since 12th grade, meaning they have been together for about 3 years, maybe 4 (depending on when exactly we are in terms of time in the present and when exactly during 12th grade they started dating).

He's younger than the rest of them, according to Por and Top in episode 1.

He studied at a different school from the main gang AND from Phee (yes, despite the embroidery having a similar colour, the writings where the institution's name should be are nothing alike, thus, not from the same place)

He cares a lot about his appearance (he does skincare when Por is literally dying downstairs and he sees a rash on his body while under the effect of New's absynthe - idk if it's absynthe or not but my friends and I have been calling it that since we saw them drink the green drinks so it's absynthe for me and there's that).

He's generally a very respectful person (he always speaks formally and nicely to everyone, even when people are hostile to him, like Tee or Fluke).

His fear doesn't seem to paralyze him in high-pressure situations (he strikes people with a tripod twice to save himself and others when he thinks they're in danger).

Another source could be the Yearbook, which, now, we have to be a bit more skeptical about because, as seen in New's case, it's not 100% accurate. One can argue that it is accurate because the yearbook would have Tan's info, since that's who he's living as and no one knows any better than that, including the institutions and, sure, yeah, fair. But while we don't know that White is hiding anything from us as well, we can't be sure of it. So, take the following with a grain of salt:

His blood type is A (which according to the Blood Type Personality Theory means he is shy, stubborn, a perfectionist, polite and hard-working, apparently. tbh this thing is super shifty, no source seems to agree on the meaning of each type and, of course, it's a pseudoscience and all, so... yeah. take it as you will)

He's studying Software Engineering

He likes cakes

He dislikes cockroaches

He plays games and programs in his free time

So... We don't know much. He's the most generic person ever. Like... I too, and half the world's population, like cake, dislike cockroaches and like to play games. It's not exactly very special. Which is exactly why he is so intriguing. After all, we had 5 whole episodes so far, which were just the backstory of the people we see together in the mansion in the present. We've seen their personalities, their qualities and flaws, what they did and what they didn't do. We've been given a reason as to why they're here. Not just in the more direct sense of "they agreed to come here for Jin's goodbye party" but of why exactly they needed to be put all together in these conditions for this story. All except White. White is just... Barely an afterthought. We're shown when he comes into this story for the group (when he becomes Tee's boyfriend), but we're not given a reason so far as to why the narrative wants him there.

Because, sure, IRL people sometimes end up in random places and things can be pretty meaningless but this is a work of fiction. One that, evidently, has been greatly focused on details (Non's framed apple picture and Phee eating an apple alone, for example, or the correlation between the group and the colour blue). So why would it just throw us a character that is, seemingly, irrelevant to the story?

And to this, there are 2 possibilities my friends: either White is a narrative tool to get to the audience or White is not who we think he is. So let's explore it, shall we?

White = Narrative Tool

Let's start by assuming, possibly the most likely outcome, that White is exactly just a guy who ended up there due to his connection to Tee. Why would this narrative need that character?

Glad you asked. Because he's the only person who's 100% innocent. If he's just some guy who, as we've seen, keeps being respectful and nice and trying to always do the right thing, then he's got nothing to do with the others who, in different degrees are all guilty of something. He's the odd one out.

Because, yes, this is not a show of villains (at least, not in which concerns the main characters). They're all morally grey. But they have some drop of black that makes them grey.

Por is arrogant and a liar and selfish.

Tee is aggressive and manipulative and a control freak.

Top is an overall asshole and a coward.

These 3 actively bully Non. Por steals his work. Tee and Top blame him for shit he didn't do which puts in the situation where he owns Por and they spy on him. Tee manipulates him into mafia money laundry and threatens him.

Fluke is selfish and refuses to take action even when he knows it's the right thing to do.

Jin's doesn't have the capability to realize that the peaceful passive way with which he normally carries himself with won't solve the issue. Plus he's overly emotional. And a bit selfish too.

They didn't help Non when it was their moral obligation to do so. And Jin records him being abused by their teacher and possibly posts it online (though that's still up for debate).

Phee is too stubborn and also overly emotional and even overly empathic.

New is obsessive and vengeful.

Phee never really helps Non because all the ways he offers Non help are the wrong ones. He almost tries to control him. And he fails. And then he tells him awful things and breaks up with him in a terribly vulnerable moment for Non. And even when he regrets it and tries to bring justice to him, he fucks Jin because he wanted to and tries to cover it up as if it was part of the plan. Sure, they were broken up, technically, but Phee himself seems to have had "take-backies" over that breaking up. So, in his mind, at least, it's fair to say he cheats on him, which is very hypocritical after how he reacts to Non being abused. And New... He tries to help sincerely because he feels guilty but he only makes things worse. Nothing is solved and their father curses them both before committing public suicide at their mom's funeral.

Non (which may be even more relevant if he's still alive) is overly independent and uncommunicative.

He doesn't tell Jin he has a boyfriend when it's clear Jin's trying to make a move on him, event though Non's not interested. He hides very important things from Phee. He commits fraud (understandably, but yeah). And yeah, he's justified in his rage and attack but... Does he ever think of how his actions affect other such as Jin, for example, who, in his eyes, is innocent? Not really.

"Oh but White won't die!", I hear you say. "The innocent people never die in slashers!! Only the people who did the killer wrong do!" And that's exactly where I have to disagree.

So, amidst a sea of grey characters, White is, funnily enough: white. He's just good. He's done nothing wrong. And the narrative needs him because, when the others die, we'll feel (to different degrees, sure, but still, we will) that there's a reason. Even if we like the characters, those deaths will make sense. But what happens when an innocent man dies? What happens when you kill the man who wasn't even supposed to be there (he joined the trip at the last minute)?

As @syrena-del-mar says in this post: "DFF is more than just a 90s slasher film imitation". It "sits at a novel intersection of genre: horror slasher on the one hand and BL on the other hand" as @brifrischu puts it here and, for that, it bends expectations and rules and subverts what are natural tropes and events of the slasher archetype. White dying is the sort of thing this narrative, and our inventive genius Sammon, would do. Because... Do you really think they're giving us grey characters instead of black ones because we're supposed not to question this revenge? Because we're supposed to be happy about this? No. Of course not. That would be dumb. If we're meant to 100% side with the killer, then why give us likeable characters as the targets? Because, and this is as much speculation as it is reading the room, we're not.

This story, I don't know how it will end, but regardless I'm pretty confident it's supposed to tell us something important about cycles of violence: that they're neverending until someone chooses peace instead. That aggression and bloodshed and revenge... They won't bring time back, they won't undo the mistakes we make, they won't restore that which is lost, they won't make the grief go away... That they won't make us feel better. More even: that they will only hurt more people, create more injustice and prompt more revenge. And, thus, perpetuate the cycle.

So what's White's role? Being the final drop into our collective cup of realization (and perhaps the characters' as well) that this revenge mission is pointless and won't solve anything. White's role is to die.

"Oh, but uncle Dang was also innocent! Is his death not enough??", I hear you ask. And well... Maybe, maybe not. I think, honestly, his death is too impersonal for us to feel too deeply about it. Like, sure, yes, it is the death of an innocent, but it's a distant innocent. It doesn't make our blood boil because we don't know shit about that man. But, for all we don't know of White's past, we've seen him cry, we've seen him scared, we've seen him fight for his life, we've seen him be a good boyfriend and a good friend. He might just be some dude but we like him. He's the fandom's babyboy, as I said. It is more impactful and it tells the story better.

But this is just a hypothesis. And it might not convince you. And that's fair. So, because I'm a persistent obnoxious fucker with a little too much free time, I'm bringing you a second theory. For this one, though... You might need a little tinfoil hat... Be prepared.

White ≠ Who He Says He Is

So, if you think just having a character be hollow and pure good in a show of very fleshed-out and grey characters is weird, even if he might be narratively relevant, then we can only assume there's something important to White's character we don't know about yet. (I'm adding this in retrospective because I forgot but this idea came to me partially from @yellingaboutkp and their great analysis of horns in the show that you can find here)

But what could that be? We've seemingly seen all the flashbacks we needed from everyone, White doesn't seem very relevant to anyone's storyline but Tee's but... We'd assume if there was something directly connected to Tee's actions and White that we needed to see, we would've. Admittedly, the next episode seems to be on its way to tell us what Tee knows about what happened to Non and Keng while they were captured by the mafia and he could be there but I think, honestly, that it goes deeper than that. And here's why: because there's a person who's even more of an odd one out then White: whoever Perth's character is.

Now, he would've been completely unsuspicious if it wasn't for one thing: Perth's presence in the promotion of this series. He's just... Always there, somehow? Like, his character has only really appeared last episode massaging Tee's uncle but he's constantly talking about this series. Plus, his name is very well credited. AND, the absolute cherry on top, his character appears in THIS poster:

Now, yeah, I understand Marketing and Publicity (it's part of my Master's, you don't have to explain it to me). So, I know this could very well just be a strategy to sell the series. After all, Perth did get a lot of attention after The Hidden Character, I know, I know. It's also a way to put his name out there for other future roles, kinda like a soft launch. Plus, this is the show that killed Us's character first when he was one of the most popular actors in the cast. HOWEVER, I'd argue that, considering the previously mentioned attention to detail, they would not have given one of their rising stars a role in this series if it wasn't important. Like... No other background character without lines (so far) was given an important actor to play it. So pardon me, but I don't buy it. Perth's character's gotta matter somehow. And, back to what I was saying, I think the next episode will be exactly where.

See, I made a poll here on the hellsite asking what y'all think happened to Non. It's this one. And it shows that, overwhelmingly, we all think Non is alive BECAUSE he was helped by the man himself:

"Okay, Dante, but, even if that's true, where does White fit in all this?" Glad. You. Asked.

Now, if we're assuming Perth's character's the one that's gonna help Non (and possibly Keng or maybe not, idk and it really doesn't matter for now), we've gotta assume he's a possible suspect for the murderer. And even more so under this optic that Non is alive. Who more than a person whose whole reality seemed to be the mafia and who might've escaped it would be okay with murdering people? Right? Or, on the contrary, that he took a liking to Non and is trying to prevent him from further digging himself a hole in life and is trying to save him from himself.

You see, I didn't watch The Hidden Character (and those who did apparently recommend it stays that way). I didn't know any of these people before except those who were in Kinnporsche. And you know what that led me to? Curiously enough, dear reader: confusing Fuaiz with Perth. So, yeah, you know where this is going... White and Perth's character might be related. Brothers, probably.

"All because you think they look alike?" Well, if you ignore the way I just explained how it would tie some very loose ends... Yeah, kinda. BUT, in my defence, it makes a lot of genetic sense.

See, no other characters in the show really look this much alike. Believe me, I tested it.

For this purpose, I tried many different sites but the one that seemed to give me the most reliable results was FaceShape. Most characters got no more than 10%, some even got 0% (e.g. New and Perth's Character). And you wanna know how much White and Perth's character got? Nearly 50%.

For comparison reasons, New and Non who are CANONICALLY brothers, got about 30%.

BUT, if this is not convincing enough, my sister and I (who share EXACTLY the same 2 parents) got lower than them.

(pls ignore the picture, I was trynna make it as accurate as possible so I took a front pic with a neutral expression. also, my sister is censored for privacy reasons)

Now... Will I claim this is irrefutable proof? No. Not at all, but think about it: if White and Perth are related that might maybe explain how Tee and White met. It might also explain that really weird scene in the pre-release trailer (albeit all scenes in that are rather odd) where White-

Yes, thank you, Obi-Wan. And Anakin Tee is looking up at him, as if White has more power than Tee does. Because then, it could probably mean that White knows something and is probably there to do something. What exactly? Idk, man. He could be there to ensure the group remains clueless/confused or that they remain where they need to be for things to work... Or he could be there to try and prevent stuff from happening much to the likeness of what I stated for Perth's character's case.

"Oh, but if he knows something, wouldn't he know what happened to Non? Why would he be curious to watch the recording??"

Well, not necessarily. We know Non is not communicative and that he doesn't typically share his problems with anyone (the exception being Keng, obviously, but then again, the exception confirms the rule). And sure, Keng might be more talkative but idk if he would say something if Non asked him not to. I have a feeling he probably wouldn't (since he has that weird thing JJ mentioned about how he "loves Non" and, therefore, even if he's an abuser, he doesn't perceive himself that way and wouldn't do something he actively thinks would hurt Non). So, while Perth's character would know what happened to Non while he was being held by Tee's uncle and even some things about why he is there, he probably wouldn't know the rest.

But then why would he date Tee? Well, this is a narrative so... Foils are something that can happen. Having White and his relationship with Tee be a parallel to that of Phee and Jin is not weird and, in fact, has happened in the very first episode when both couples arrive at the room where the singles are, in pairs. Therefore, it wouldn't be weird to think of White as someone who maybe also fell in love with the guy that was supposed to be a means to an end or, alternatively, and perhaps more interestingly, have White NOT be in love with him and actually succeed, unlike Phee. Thus, drawing the comparison that, while Tee and White are in a relationship, White didn't fall in love and, inversely, while Phee and Jin aren't in a relationship, Phee did fall in love.

And this would mean that all we've seen of White's fear might, in fact, be an act to throw suspicion off of him. Or even more justified because he knows exactly what's lurking in the woods... After all, why would he suddenly join Jin's goodbye party if he's not a friend of Jin's? What reason better than to tag along your boyfriend's getaway with his friends if not to protect him from the terrible consequences of his actions?

But I get it. It's an extremely convoluted theory and, in all honesty, maybe makes the show more dull and boring if it's true because... Why would they repeat this "secret brother" twist? Or the dating with second intentions trope? It could be a narrative parallel, yes, but I can also definitely see how people could point that out as uncreative or lazy writing.

Either way: these thoughts were circling around my head and, before the next episode confirms or destroys them, I wanted to get them out into the world for y'all to, maybe, hopefully, join in on the hype for it, as it's less than 24h 'till it airs. Hope in that I was successful, at the very least.

Anyway... As usual feel free to (politely) argue with me, tell me I'm wrong, tell me I missed this and that, add to it, etc... Because if there's one thing I currently love more than DFF itself, it's definitely the fandom and I want us to make the most of it!!

— has been the Captain for 15–20 years; became Captain around the age of 20

— the tallest and strongest of the crew

— Canadian; seen from his room decoration where he had a banner called ‘MV Manitoba’ and his sister Bianca and her cubs—Orson & Ursa—live in Northern Canada (Arctic region)

— sometime after he graduated Polar Scouts he got a position on a ship— MV Manitoba; it is very likely that he met Tweak on this ship

— adding: the ship, probably, crashed during a big storm, and he moved back to the Arctic to train Tracker; if you look closely, Barnacles tends to become more tense during storms

— blames himself if one of his crew gets hurt

— autistic? probably

— polar bears shed their fur, so he sheds a LOT since his location changes all the time (headcanons here)

— very fluffy when his winter coat is fully grown, looks smaller when it’s fully shed

— adding: everyone on the Octopod has had that first summer when they are just in shock because the Captain suddenly looks so much smaller, and especially Peso freaked out

— LOVES cold and snow and ice; that being said, he deals with a hot climate, but not for very long

— great immune system, but if he gets sick, boy he is SICK (Peso will literally have to tie him to the bed because he refuses to rest)

— is severely injured a couple of times a year, typically due to selflessness

— overall very reluctant to seek medical help and attention because he’s fine what do you mean

— polar bears are the most carnivorous of the bear family, so he eats a lot of meat

— very careful when helping small creatures because he’s huge and doesn’t want to hurt them; constantly worried he’d crush them .

— stands with his claws facing backwards and kneels down when talking to creatures smaller than him (both canon) to make them feel less intimidated, which he learned in the Polar Scouts (Tracker does it too)

— doesn’t know how to handle being flirted with (if he even realizes it, which he probably doesn’t)

— Peso and him are Cold Weather Buddies™

— Tunip is his Emotional Support Vegimal™ (either doesn’t know or realize)

— has a great singing voice and definitely sings in the shower

— has the deepest voice of the crew and in the morning it sometimes scares them due to how deep it is all of a sudden (Kwazii once joked Barnacles was being possessed)

— gives the BEST (bear) hugs

— maybe on the ace spectrum (no I’m definitely not projocting what are you talking about /hj)

— doesn’t really share his backstory, & only shares some of his more fond memories of the Polar Scouts

— Natquik is the only one who has seen him lose his temper / have a full-on breakdown

— loves playing the accordion (canon); though unfortunately, has trouble playing it well (he’s doing his best—also am I the only one who likes it??)

— his other (canon) hobbies include writing in his Captain’s log, exercising, making shadow puppet shows, singing sea shanties, dancing to music with the Vegimals, building models and drawing

— an oceanographer and a map finder (canon)

— his Octo-Compass, while a small device, is multi-functional; it was a gift from Tweak

— has many embarrassing stories from his youth that he WON’T share and he forbids Bianca from telling anyone from his crew

— chubby; when someone’s truly muscular, they are going to be a bit chubby, and with the density of muscle mass Barnacles must have due to his level of strength, he’s going to obviously be a bit more chubby

— big as in “Big Beefy Polar Bear”

— has GIANT fluffy paws; sometimes, when the crew compares paw sizes with him they are just... smol (& also generally compared to him)

— listens to The Wellerman a lot

— possibly the highest pain tolerance out of the crew and Octo-Agents

— a part of his brain is always awake, causing him to be alert at all times (kinda reminds me of Mad-Eye Moody’s CONSTANT VIGILANCE)

— late 20s (he’s referred to as Kwazii Kitten)

— sleeps with a slightly worn teddy bear that has an eye patch (it was a gift from Calico Jack)

— also has heterochromia, a green eye and a brown eye, and the green eye is covered

— cannot stay still, literally has to move or he feels like he’ll explode right then and there

— the most acrobatic of the crew

— probably gay or pan

— FTM trans 🏳‍⚧

— adding: bonds with Tweak and Tominnow

— likes dressing up in costumes, especially dresses because f*ck gender roles

— half-Caribbean (dad’s side)

— was abandoned / disowned by his family because he wasn’t the “traditional” kind of pirate and was instead kind and such

— like already said, is not like the rest of his family ; but does look up to his grandfather, Calico Jack, a role model of his

— sometimes gets sad that some creatures get scared of him since he’s a pirate but it’s part of his identity and he doesn’t want to throw it away either

— one of Barnacles’ closest friends and would die for him (as if Barnacles would let it happen, but hypothetically speaking)

— sees Tweak as a sister figure and will go to her if he needs a quick pat on the back (here)

— sees Peso as a brother and teases him but if someone so much as looks at Peso wrong? he’s getting out his sword

— even if he doesn’t always listen when given orders, he looks up to Barnacles (both figuratively and literally) and has a lot of respect for him, just like the entire crew

— unlike Barnacles, Kwazii’s like: “are you okay?” “no I’m literally f*cking dying” *as he’s perfectly fine*

— is in the Sick Bay a lot; usually because he did something stupid/reckless and got hurt

— great immune system but still manages to get sick easier than, for example, Barnacles

— an orange cat (iykyk)

— very cat-like and out of the crew he acts most like the animal he is

— he loafs; once in the HQ on top of Dashi’s workstation and she just pushed him off (he hissed at her, in a playful manner of course)

— has a bad habit of chewing on stuff and accidentally leaving his stuff everywhere

— sheds a bit too and used to let Barnacles borrow his shedding brush

— adding: eventually just got him his own as a gift because lord knows the Captain needs it (it’s definitely one of the ones that release the brushed fur in neat circles) .

— used to curse but due to Barnacles’ wishes he came up with variations (‘shiver me whiskers!’)

— starts singing sea shanties out of nowhere; pretty good singer, actually

— has a music box that plays sea shanties

— writes the pirate stories he has heard down into one, big book of pirate tales

— likes telling stories and sometimes holds a story-telling night with the Vegimals

— adding: sometimes Paani joins them

— speaking of Paani, they sometimes bake together; it’s... a bit of a disaster, though

— quotes Vines on a daily basis (with Dashi finishing some of them for him)

— has a gold earring with the Octopod engraved on the back (see here)

— loves storms, exploring, general excitement and swashbuckling

— watches Pirates of the Caribbean movies

— one of the first to know about Barnacles’ claustrophobia

— the prank master; every april’s fools day is just everyone mostly trying to avoid Kwazii

— adding: the only one who manages to succesfully prank Kwazii is Tweak

— hot-blooded and considered to be one of the bravest of the Octonauts, but does have arachnophobia and has a soft heart for cute small animals, especially the babies

— hates the cold and thinks Barnacles and Peso must have lost their minds whenever they’re enjoying the cold weather; it’s the Caribbean side of him talking

— speaks with a Cockney accent and a typical sea ferrying dialect

— adding: was slightly insecure about being a pirate, and so everyone started also saying “aye!” instead of yes to make him feel better (it worked) and then it just ✨stuck✨

— has retractable claws, sharp cat teeth and paw beans coloured yellow like his muzzle

— knows how to pick locks with his claws

— has scars! likes to call them battle scars; basically it’s like *gets a wound* “sick, a new scar :D”

— definitely has some sort of trauma

— plays the recorder, drums and bass guitar

— hobbies include collecting treasures in his room, playing with / chewing on yarn, taking catnaps, watering his catnip plant, practicing cat-fu, lifting weights, & knitting / crocheting scarves (sometimes with the Vegimals)

— has a hair-ball collection (which he hides)

— knows how to find secret passageways and how to identify them

PESO

— early 30s (like, c’mon, he’s a doctor and went to medical school, be fr)

— maybe more like a paramedic; he gives medical care in an emergency

— also the newest recruit on the Octopod

— shortest, if we don’t count the Vegimals

— Chilean (a part of Antarctica belongs to Chile) .

— knows different languages other than English, like Spanish and a bit of Latin

I've seen the same post a hundred times now. Sometimes it's a few days old, sometimes it's from years ago, but it's always the same. Some anti posts about how they don't understand how anyone can like Snape because he was so awful, and then there's a long reply that goes something like, "imagine this happens to you, and then this, and then this" to describe Snape's experience. Sometimes there's some James Potter hate thrown in.

Look. You can go through describing a character's entire experience but you don't really need to. Here's the thing that antis don't understand:

For all her faults (and they're big, bigoted ones) Rowling understood a really integral part of the human experience and conveyed it through Snape. Everyone needs love and to feel accepted. It's that simple. Snape became a Death Eater to seek acceptance (Rowling has confirmed this, though I can't remember the source - whoever wants to add it please do), because it was the only way he could find any.

Snape's understanding of morality, like everyone's, is subjective. Some readers understand this and some don't. When faced against a morality that says there is good and bad in the world, everyone makes choices based on their personal experience. Context is everything. Someone who experiences pain and suffering will not see the person inflicting it on them as moral. That's it. 'How can this person be good when they caused me so much suffering?' = human psychology. Most of the people who think 'I'm a bad person and deserve this' have been gaslit and abused into thinking so, because it's not a natural reaction - it's one that has to often be socialized into someone at a young age, exactly because it's not natural. Everyone is the hero of their own story; no one sees themselves as a villain, because they see the valid aspects of their own perspective.

You can write essays on how vulnerable people needing acceptance is what cults and fascists exploit to recruit vulnerable people, or on how the standard anti's un-nuanced reading of Snape both ignores canon and displays a disturbing lack of empathy or compassion, but at its core it just boils down to context. From Snape's perspective he experienced cruelty, therefore the people inflicting it must be cruel. Again, it's that simple. He was a person, like any other, except he was fictional so he wasn't even real. On the flip side is James Potter, who, for all his faults, didn't get to live long enough to get a chance to change and grow unlike Snape, and I think the Snapedom also needs to acknowledge that.

They're fictional characters representing things an author wants to say, not sports teams, not martyrs, and not all good or all bad emblems that define your identity depending on how you feel about them. It's depressing how much time is wasted arguing with bullies and trolls whether from the Marauders fandom or just random antis. I literally can't find more than three blogs to follow without this argument coming across my feed daily. I know the Snapedom is Not OK™ and that's kind why we're all here, and I know that my take is super unpopular but like Snape, I don't care what others think: this fandom has been having the exact same argument for years and nothing has changed. There's fanart and meta and fic and so much content out there appreciating this character, you're not going to change an anti's mind who's deliberately trolling in the tags, so why are you trying? What are you getting out of it? What does it give you? It's exhausting just scrolling past it.

I used to spend so much time doubting the veracity of things I saw online and then researching to figure out if they were right or not (and the related "this random image is unsourced so I shall go find the source") that I ended up dedicating a lot of effort to figuring out if they were real or not/their origins

I eventually learned to let most of those things slide, because they don't mean anything to my life

but I still wonder why it's considered an appropriate insult to say to people "Gee, I bet you're fun at parties" when someone points out the Fun Fact! just shared isn't actually...true.

Like OK fine I don't wanna go to your Liar Party anyway

Part of the reason I stopped listening to Says You was because there was one frequent panelist who would, with complete sincerity, trot out "did you know [word] is an acronym for [series of words that are in no way the etymology for said word]" and everyone would go "Oh wow I did not know that!" and because everyone on the show was Smart™ then people listening at home would probably start telling that "fact" about the word to everyone they knew. Does it matter if people are convinced about false etymologies? Of course not. But it's still wrong and that annoys me 😅

I try not to let my annoyance get into my posts, but sometimes it still does. I never mean it in a "everyone who believes this is STUPID" way, but instead in a "I can't believe someone would put this out into the world--did they do it without researching or are they being intentionally misleading" way

Shredding the gnar on the pow pow: A compiled list of skiing Rosekiller headcanons

So. Um. I want you guys to know that I was out skiing all day on Friday and Saturday, and so now I’m inspired. Anyways, y’all know how much I love the idea of Skier Evan ™ and will use any chance i get to force it upon you. So i’m taking that chance right now with some Skier Rosekiller ™ headcanons 💕

- Barty would be a snowboarder, one hundred percent. You skiers out there know EXACTLY what I am talking about when I say that (for those of you who don’t know, snowboarders are just. so annoying. They clog up hills and stop and just sit down in the middle of the runs, blast out music from their speakers with no respect for other people and their ears, and are just usually rude in general) (wow that actually kind of made me sound like a Karen but i PROMISE that they are actually annoying, everyone agrees)

- But yeah Barty would snowboard, Evan would ski, and they’d be absolute menaces while doing so, because skiing always brings out the most unhinged thoughts a person has

- I just KNOW that they would touch each other wayyy too much on the way up to the top of a hill.

- Like Barty would kick his one unstrapped leg up and lay in on Evan’s lap, or manage to sit on Evan’s lap while they go up, or just hook one leg over Evan’s and put an arm around his shoulder while doing so

- And Evan would be slightly less… overt (?) and mostly just lean on Barty most of the time and put his head on Barty’s shoulder, but occasionally he’d grab Barty’s thigh and just. Drag it into his lap because he wants to hold it

- Oh also, Evan would definitely do that thing where you scoop up a bunch of snow up onto your ski before getting on the lift, and then once he’s on the lift, kick up his ski so that the snow sprays on Barty and goes down his coat.

- And Barty would shriek like a little girl whenever Evan does that

- Evan would love gap jumps and moguls (or bumps, whatever you want to call them) and double black diamonds

- Barty would prefer the rails/entire terrain park in general and going through the woods where there are explicitly signs saying not to go through the woods (which I have definitely never done in my life, nope)

- They would both unashamedly flirt with the ski lift operators, even though they are dating each other (but seriously, how are so many ski lift operators that cute? I don’t understand it)

- They would be the type of people to heckle other skiers from the lift, and cheer really loudly whenever someone landed a jump or boo if they didn’t (it might sound mean to do that but it’s actually so funny when people do that to you lol)

- Evan would constantly give Barty one of his ski poles so they could sword fight on the way down

- Make out sessions in the middle of the woods up against a tree?? I’m thinking yes

- Neither of them would wear helmets; Evan would wear beanies and Barty would wear a hoodie underneath his coat and pull the hood up

- There are. So many stickers on Barty’s snowboard

- With stickers in mind, they’d also love to leave random stickers on lifts, too (the Mona Lisa dabbing is the one sticker i’ve seen that immediately comes to mind when thinking about this, idk why)

- So. Much. Bombing. (bombing is where you just go straight down the hill and try to go as fast as humanly possible)

- I forgot to mention this above with the heckling from the ski lifts, but they would find so much joy in cupping their hands around their mouths and yelling “YARRRRDDD SAAAALLLEEEE” whenever someone did a yard sale in front of them (that’s when someone falls and everything goes flying, your skiis and poles and sometimes helmet and gloves, too. It’s super funny to see, but not very fun to do lol)

- Anyways yeah I think that’s it, I just love the idea of these two skiing together <3

my shuri headcanons 𓃠

a dump of my thoughts because i love her and she’s taken over my mind

• on the trans/nonbinary spectrum. more specifically a demigirl and doesn’t care what pronouns you use on him. owns a binder for specific days that she wants her chest to look flat.

• very lesbian. her heart is for women and non-men 🏳️‍🌈

• i view her as a stud or a stem. it depends on how i’m feeling atm.

• she’s not just a nerd in the science sense she’s a huge fandom geek and has a stan twitter account to talk about her interests.

• also has fan edits of her favorite characters and interests saved on her phone. probably makes her own edits too.

• average minecraft enjoyer (she’s obsessed)

• reads a lot of wlw comics, novels, and other media bc they’re a gay ass.

• has AuDHD, argue with ur mama.

• is almost always seen wearing noise cancelling headphones or earbuds because she gets overstimulated at times. when she visits riri in chicago for the first time, the constant loud city noise is something he’s not used to. he had forgot to pack the headphones he made for himself so riri makes him a custom made pair to help him relax. they end up using riri’s more than their own. (riri indulgently put small cat ears on the top of them and shuri almost cried at the sight).

• catgirl energy. riri may make her look tall but that’s still a 5’5 girl twink that stopped growing at age 13. she’s small and likes to sit on counters, lab tables, the floor and any other weird place that’s not meant to be sat on. she curls up in a ball when she sleeps alone, and if she’s in the bed with someone else her limbs are all over their body. has cute sounding sneezes that m’baku makes fun of her for. one of the lab workers once found her asleep in a random corner of the room. naturally very light-footed and basically has human toe beans, making it very easy to sneak up on people without them hearing.

• has quite a few fidget toys to help her focus on work in the lab and ease her anxiety. a rubik’s cube, fidget spinners, stress ball, pop its, etc.

• she stims. so much. especially after she successfully completes a task or experiment and she’ll do a dance or do the lil hand flapping thing. her vocal stims are always random song lyrics or tiktok meme audios lol.

• has a sweet tooth. when okoye was a dora she’d occasionally bring candy or other sweets for her to snack on. riri goes to the store and buys him all the popular american snacks for him to try. nakia always has a mini stash prepared for when they visit her and toussaint in haiti.

• favorite color is purple. it just suits her.

• a GAMER™. she plays all genres but her favs are probably minecraft, puzzle, or rhythm games. did i mention minecraft? she loves it. riri loves rpgs and pvp games the most and has her play smash bros ultimate pretty often. they’re super competitive with each other and both sore losers lmao. shuri got her to play minecraft once and riri kept getting blown up by creepers.

• ↑ she becomes super close with mj, ned, and vivian through riri. they’re always on discord vc together playing games and doing many other things and it’s the most chaotic shit you’ve ever seen.

• if the word ticklish was personified. simply elbowing her in the stomach on accident would get a giggle outta her. every ticklish spot she has is extremely sensitive and you could have her curled up cackling in tears with ease.

• funny as hell for no reason. life of the party fr. she takes her jokester persona very seriously but sometimes she’s hilarious without even trying. the first time she ever smoked weed was with riri in her dorm and riri never laughed so hard in her life that day. shuri was literally all over the place. she’s definitely a lightweight too, just as goofy, giggly, and clingy in her drunken state.

• definitely likes kpop girl groups. I can’t prove it but they love loona you just have to trust me.

• also loves vocaloid and has a hatsune miku figure in her room somewhere. trust me on that.

• has a list of favorite black american artists. riri definitely put her on some r&b classics and less mainstream artists. has a massive celebrity crush on black women rappers.

• music taste is very versatile. her playlist has almost everything. she just can’t listen to one genre only, she’s too open minded and exploratory for that.

• he’s not one to fall in love easily, but when he does he falls hard. riri was the first person he ever fell for and it changed the trajectory of his life, poor thing had no idea what to do with that information.

• a romantic, lovesick loser. cannot flirt to save his life. flustering him is so fucking easy lmao. riri once called him shawty and he malfunctioned for 5 minutes. whenever he’s on the phone with riri his crush is genuinely so obvious to everyone around him. he be giggling and cheesing real hard 😭. kicking his feet squealing on the bed when he’s alone thinking about the cute nickname riri called him.

• her love language is acts of service and gift giving. she’s not always good with words or emotions so she expresses her appreciation towards her loved ones by distributing her wealth in many ways. buying riri things she might need for college, fixing stuff that breaks in nakia’s home. things like that.

• has trouble being vulnerable with those close to her. she’s lost so much, so opening up to new people is always a scary, big step. it took a while for her to let mj, ned, and viv into her heart because the closer she becomes with them, the more it’ll hurt if she loses them. they take her in with open arms regardless, because having a support system with people her age is something she needs. they take her seriously in ways that the elders don’t. they see her for who she is outside of being a royal figure to her country and allows her to be her full, authentic, geeky self. she’s able to grasp onto the youth that she almost lost when her family was taken away.

• very talkative. can infodump about an interest for hours and completely lose track of time if you let them. they cannot stay still when excited, nor can they keep eye contact, pacing around the room and darting their eyes everywhere while rambling about the history of vibrainium or something.

• maladaptive daydreaming. will lose herself in a song and start imagining scenarios in her head. t’challa once caught her in the act and refused to delete the video footage. sometimes, she pulls up the video her brother recorded just to hear his laughter in the background.

Alright, here's a few!

• Ness sings/hums a lot, especially when doing tasks. Mostly random tunes or made up lyrics that relate to the task he's doing, but he will also get popular songs stuck in his brain from the Diner.

• Aside from the Diner job, he also has a true crime podcast where he will talk about his own theories.

• He also sometimes Babysits Abby. They're friendship bracelet buddies, they rope in Mike (and eventually Vanessa, when she wakes up)

• Speaking of Vanessa, I like to think she was somewhat of a regular at Sparky's. So Her & Ness are somewhat friendly or at least acquaintances. She'd try to make him stop being so curious about Freddy's, but it'd backfire into him being even more interested.

• He's a clothes Thief, even if mike's clothes fit a bit awkwardly.

• Ness is also the big spoon, and is just touchy-feely in general.

• He has random bits and pieces of old Freddy's merch, including some rare collectables.

• I think when/if he & Mike were to get married, he'd a wear a suit like Shane madej's, embroidered n decorated all pretty n colorful instead of a plain suit (reference: https://www.tumblr.com/ostensiblynone/735786663030210560/rosecutclothing-caf%C3%A9-brauer-floral-suit-for)

• Like his real Life counterpart and also Me because I love projecting™, He has arachnophobia :)

I absolutely love the true crime podcast and him babysitting Abbie, it's cute to me that these have basically become fanon lol.

Also the thing about Vanessa trying to shut it down is so funny to me. She'd try to get him off the trail and he'd call her "Afton" so she knows its already far to late for that/hj

Him being the big spoon is so real too, I feel like he'd just initiate things a lot more than Mike does in general. He was definitely the first to ask about dating, I think I've said somewhere before that I feel like he'd say "I love you" a lot more than Mike does. I hc Mike would be more inclined to giving gifts/trinkets then going out of his way to complement Ness or cuddle him. He's the "I saw this cool looking scrap of metal on the side walk and thought of you" type, if Ness borrowed his clothes a lot I think regardless of how often he himself wore it he'd let Ness keep it.

Also im definitely of the believe that most of the things Ness eats are weird combos. He'll regularly encourage Mike and Abbie to eat full healthy meals and even cook for them, but when it comes to feeding himself he's running on one and a half lukewarm redbulls he found in his car and like a hand full of pretzels also found in his car. He's too busy pretending to be Fox Mulder to feed himself/hj

I'm strongly of the belief that Ness is feral lol

least favorite thing about them: i mean, i could go on forever. he's deeply annoying sometimes, and as much as it's part of his charm, it also makes me want to thwap him upside the head from time to time, like. boy. shut UP!!! but the real answer is honestly his position as sixth house scion. master warden is an unspeakably rancid title in vibes alone and i sincerely hope we dig into the backstory behind that a little more in AtN. i find it fascinating, and troubling, and tragic, and frustrating, all the ways in which he talks the talk re: cavaliers and agency and free will, but when the rubber meets the road, do his actions really back that up? arguably, not always. and the guilt and complicity and codependent toxicity there re: camilla, is like catnip to me. he loves her, he respects her, she's his best friend, he's in awe of her and her abilities and her strength. and yet, time and time again, he puts her through harrowing things and thanks her each time she shoulders his burdens. it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, it makes me so sad, it's a snake eating its own tail, it is a mobius strip of toxic power imbalance codependent enmeshment and it is FASCINATING to think about. if i keep going we'll be here all night, but just. i think fandom has a tendency to write him as The Good Person™ (him and Camilla both) and, like, i love him as much as the next girl, but he's a head of state in an empire, with all the implications that brings with it.

What is Beelzebub's Secret + What is Raphael Hiding? (Obey Me Nightbringer Mini Theory)

You wanna listen to a random person stuck on Lesson 40 ramble about an out of pocket theory?

You've come to the right place.

And ironically enough, it all started with food! All I did was look up the names of all the food items in the Surprise Guest interactions, and something caught my eye that I don't think I've ever seen a single person mention.

Yes, you figured it out by now by me just mentioning it and yes, obviously these belong to the newest 3 characters. In the exact order they were introduced on Instagram when they teased the characters. (Though that can easily be coincidence!)

THE POINT IS

Comfort Candy for Thirteen. (Purely based on vibes, she has a sweet tooth AND her sister is named Candy)

Black Coffee of Melancholy for Mephistopheles. (Vibes, he's a bitch, bitchy drink for bitchy boy, it's fancy)

So that leaves Backstabbing Sandwich for Raphael. (Vibes. The most "Celestial" looking of the three.)

Am I assuming there's something up with Raphael? Yes.

Am I assuming he betrayed the brothers sometime during the Celestial War? Also yes.

For why? Because it makes sense and I hate his ass.

Now, for someone stuck on Lesson 40; I unfortunately have QUITE a bit of spoilers shown to me.

The first being Raphael practically abused all the brothers back in the Celestial Realm; particularly Beel.

The second being he has more plot relevance than any of the new characters. (His Wiki is literally longer than Thirteen's and Mephistopheles' combined)

The third being why did he get an entire cutscene in the Obey Me Nightbringer Trailer whereas Mephistopheles' and Thirteen didn't?

Because he's important. He's important to the plot and he's important to the war.

And possibly, he could've had a larger hand at starting it in the first place than we know.

What does this have to do with Beel?

... you expect me to have all the answers and connect everything? Yeah, maybe with another theorist, but I'm literally throwing the fishing line SO far out here.

Alright, alright, but I do have one...

That the brothers don't know Raphael betrayed them except Beel.

And again, this is just my shot in the dark!

The truly and only, only answer I have is that (to me at least) Beel's and Raphael's relationship seems off.

It's how it seems Beel is on edge with him, how it seems his treatment by Raphael in the Celestial Realm was worse out of everyone else's.

It's how there's something there that's not being said and aside from just the vibes™:

Beel is hiding something.

Raphael is hiding something.

And I think it's connected to the exact same thing.

alister… i’ve come to sow trouble…i ask for your spitting hot takes for the character ask game: gregory for 3, 8, 16, 22!! and 25 for funsies <3 (when i first watched the movie i hated him bc i thought he was an asshole. then i discovered gregstophe and he changed my life)

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

i have studied Gregory's canon character extensively and it's a huge reason why i love him so much (and why i so despise a certain fanon version that has eclipsed canon) so this is really hard. HOWEVER….. i do hate his canonical reaction to learning Stan failed his mission. i know it's just to make Wendy start to dislike him so she'll get back together with Stan at the end of the movie, but this was such an important mission that Gregory put so much effort into planning! it implies the death of one of his only friends, Christophe! there's no way Gregory in that moment is the same as the Gregory in the rest of the film to me. or i have to believe that's he's just SO upset that he's lashing out and his tone poorly conveys the true depth of his emotions.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

can i say the entirety of Hell//park lmao. lowkey serious. i've spoken often about how HP was a blight on Gregory's characterization, interpreting him as a generic snobbish evil twink. this (or one of the many HP spinoffs that copy-pasted this personality instead of his canon one) was unfortunately a lot of people's introduction to him as a character, which means that i see many Gregory fans taking him one of two directions: 1) they take him the sexy sadist manipulater route, cold and dismissive, hungry only for power 2) they infantalize this version, making him more like a random xD feral wild card silly guy if you were ever in the Gravity Falls fandom, they do to him what people did to Bill Cipher basically. and don't get me wrong, i'm not saying i dislike people doing that! i love how insane the GF fandom goes with Bill but it makes sense for him bc he's a chaos demon. Gregory is a revolutionary freedom fighter with occasionally poor people skills. i feel like barely any active fans remember that.

16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?

i have one beloved mutual who likes this ship so i hope she understands but….. probably greg/stella. most bc every art i see for it ever is HP-based (designs and personalities) which i am clearly not a fan of lol. also, all the love to the Estella fans out there, but she's just not for me. which makes it hard to care about ships that have her.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?

ok this is a little hard to describe but i love when fics show that Gregory actually cares?? whether it be for Christophe (as most of the fics i read are gregstophe lol) or about his job or a cause or whatever. i find a lot of fics are able to show him as a caregiver, but don't always show him caring. to me, that's such a core part of who he is. he fights bc he cares, he helps bc he cares, he gets angry and sometimes flippant about others bc he cares so much about what he believes in that he puts on blinders to others' (and tbh his own) emotions. something i don't like is when people do the exact opposite of this lol.

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

i do not fully remember what i thought of Gregory specifically, but i have such a vivid memory, right after i watched BLU for the first time, going onto [social media platform redacted bc my account there is cringe af] and saying how i totally shipped Gregory and Christophe and wanted to RP them with someone lmao now... well, i still ship him with Christophe so not much has changed there i guess. but now i like to think about him much more in depth than i did back then. back when i was younger, i don't think the fic i wrote really explored the actual characters so much as it put two guys through a bunch of tropes. nowadays, i want myself and the reader to really understand the depth of those two guys and why exactly i am putting them through certain tropes.

Kuron-

favorite thing about them- He's trying so much! He is not great at it and he was very much Doomed since the beginning and he lost every agency he never had to begin but my god he was Trying! He did not know he was a clone but he felt he that he isnt him and Haggar was still scouting in his head but he was still trying until he couldnt, my god i love him!!

least favorite thing about them- Other than the fact he fucking died??? Kuron babygirl please dont go behind your teams back and dont yell at people, i know you are Going Through It™ but still

favorite line- "Like i am not like myself" HAHAHAHA HAHA FUCKING KILL ME!!! orz

random headcanon- i have already talked about him being fan of reading but did you know he also writes sometimes? It is not *great* and almost all of them are wips because he is never sure how to end a story but he is trying

unpopular opinion- if i see one more "Kuron the evil mean clone" i will scream.

Other than- ok. You know how much i love him right? He is one of my favourites and i like him more than Shiro, you know that right? I need you to know and remember that when i say the next part.

Entire clone arc was just not needed. Like you could have had the same effect with Shiro being mind controlled and i personally feel it would have been better. Clone arc just overcomplicated an already messy plot, added even more elements and questions that went absolutely nowhere, left behind a shit load of plot holes, became the final nail in the coffin of Shiro having any possible arc or development, and added a new sympathetic character just to kill him off as a plot device.

And the entire "You are my brother Shiro, i love you" who is it for? Literally who is it for? It would have been much more heart wrenching if it was mind controlled Shiro but we clearly established that is not him. That guy is not Shiro, and Keith as i recall had like 3 on screen conversations with him, 2 of them being strained and then Keith just fucks off with the Blades for most of 3 seasons. It is not for Kuron cause narrative is insistent that he is ~evil~ tool and later on they use his body to get Shiro back. So like, who is it for? Other than to show how sad and angsty and great and amazing writers pet Keith is of course but that is the whole goddamn show.

Like i love him and he did not deserve any of That and i am going to keep making up aus where he lives but the entire pointlessness of clone arc angers me so much

least favorite thing about them- why is she fucking dead 🥺🥺? Girl wake up, also as much as i love her i am not forgiving her for entire using-Kuron's-body-to-bring-Shiro-back.

If this fandom can forgive Lotor for getting thousands of alteans murdered and straight up lying to the woman he says he loves about her own people and forgive Keith for abandoning his teammates and almost getting them all killed by claiming they were sad and traumatized than they can also forgive a black coded genocide survivor not liking a race that has been colonizing and murdering the entire universe for 10000 years including her own people

And he is loyal and goofy and lovable i love him

least favorite thing about them- i would not have liked this fucker if i met irl specifically s1-s2 him at all. Also the fact they did not even give him an arc like why would you do this to him. Also his fanbase, i cant tolerate 70% of his fanbase and the fact that i still love him is a testimony of my love for him itself given i have hated characters and left fandoms for far less

At most he should have had like last one out of beach city episode from steven universe, where he gets a partner by just being himself instead of the flirty loverboy persona

"you're a bad person for not wearing a mask you should feel guilty" you know what i did wear a mask after the requirement for it was lifted but random strangers (particularly men!) took that as an opportunity to accost me about it, and as an anxious clocky tranny in public i'd rather not draw more attention to myself than absolutely necessary. (i've already sometimes gotten harrassed even without a mask.)

placing the burden on singular people to Do The Right Thing™ (regardless of personal consequences) instead of treating it as a broader systemic issue with systemic solutions (for example the government shouldn't fucking lift the masking requirement!!!) is morally masturbatory liberal LARPing that pretends YOU personally can ~change the world~. that's a "reduce your carbon footprint! uwu" type argument that deflects responsibility away from the forces that are supposed to enact change (communities, organisations, governments, etc) and places it on the individual and their very limited reach.

if you have the time, energy, and most of all privilege to be able to put on a mask every day then good for you, please do, it's a good thing. but shaming people for not doing that is just shitty and unproductive.

I'm writing the first chapter but some of you got so excited for this fic that I couldn't help but to give you a little glimpse of how I imagine some things would be. This right here is mostly just mindless fluff with a hint of something more... Regardless, I hope you like it!

Ferid Bathory would become your university professor and he would immediately become an instant hit, but perhaps not necessarily for all the good reasons. Some are intrigued by him, others are charmed while the rest are just creeped out - he does and says the most random and craziest things anyone could ever think of, which really does beg the question of how he even got this job. You tried to get more details out of him but he is not budging so you give up, a smart decision really.

He would be intrigued by modern society and I can see him often debating online even if he has no idea what anyone is talking about. He doesn't really care if he wins his debates and petty arguments, he's just looking for ways to be entertained. The current politics are incredibly amusing to him and he wants to know it all. He adapts mostly well but since he has such an eccentric personality he still manages to look like a clown in public. Some people find that hot though, much to his delight and low key confusion. Humans are strange, he would think to himself.

As for the way he loves you, well, that's a complete ride of emotions. He says that it was "love at first sight" for him and be because of this he often bugs you of your whereabouts and with who you were with, and just to be extra™ he probably likes to leave random hickies all over you if he can grab you. He's acting like a proper lover ought to, yeah? They're supposed to be jealous, why are you getting so huffy with him?! Fine, he'll stop but not completely. All of your actions and reactions are very cute to him, there's nothing you could do that could turn him away from you. If someone were to ask what his favorite hobby was, he would probably say something like "I like to follow (y/n) around the city and annoy them!~"

He thrives off your attention, even if it's negative. Despite his constant teasing he understands that he's down bad for you once the two of you alone and how you treat him. He is annoying but you don't treat him like a pest and that's... sweet. Yes, that is very sweet of you. He's like child asking for candy, your words and touch start becoming something akin to a drug to him. He's curious to see what this new world has to offer but he's more curious to see whether or not you'd be willing to stick by his side no matter what.

Crowley Eusford feels a strange sense of nostalgia run through him as he walks around, especially if he comes by a church. He's often seen with a calm smile on his face and people are naturally attracted to him because of this. Small children probably want to play with him and chances are he will indulge their desires as he lets them use his big muscly arms like monkey bars. He laughs quietly to himself at the helplessness of these kids, they have no idea that he could tear them to shreds if he wanted to. In a split second this beautiful, sunny day could become grin if Crowley got a little bit too thirsty... But the warmth of your hand is more than enough to bring him back down to Earth.

He's not as needy as Ferid, but he does like to watch you. Again, he's not as obvious with it like that freak but he always notices even the most little things on you, always. He sees how sweet you are to the people around you, how hard you try to help him and the others and he appreciates that. He's a little angry with himself because sometimes he wonders how things would look like if he became a bit more greedy, just a little bit. He likes it when you hug him, he doesn't want to let you go.

It's almost like he's being brought back to life again.

Lest Karr and Krul Tepes are... interesting. Due to their tiny bodies they are either sent away to some sort of elementary school or are hiding away somewhere but for the sake of comedy let's just say they are forced to attend a regular public school and my oh my, does this cause some issues. Neither one of them wants to be put through this kind of humiliation but with one good, stern look from Urd they'll both keep their mouths shut. I imagine they break some furniture by complete accident because of how angry they get, maybe not even by accident now that I think about it. They'll play along after some time passes, hell, they will start competing with each other to see who can solve things faster! Cue them both running to you to see who was better but I imagine Lest would be a lot more vocal with his praises and complaints. Krul just sort of smugly says that such trivial and childish things are beneath her but you see the way she smiles whenever she bests Lest, it's impossible to hide.

As for their infatuation, this could be problematic. Lest doesn't seem to understand why you aren't attracted to him the same way he is to you. His mind has aged like fine wine but he is cursed to look like a young boy which causes him great distress. He probably binges a lot of romantic comedies in his free time but under the condition that he is alone. He doesn't necessarily enjoy them but he just wants to understand how human courting works.

Urd Geales is the first vampire out the bunch to get a real job and it'll probably be something really boring like an accountant. He'll get the title of employee of the month in the short span of 24 hours, everyone is in awe of his skills and intelligence. People pester him all the time and he may or may not help them out, it depends on the approach they have towards him and his own mood. He probably ends up buying a really nice apartment that is used like a base for the vampires.

I imagine he gets asked out a lot but he turns everyone down. "I already have someone in mind" is what he cooly says. It's you, you caught his eye the moment he saw you. He sees you as someone very intelligent and pointlessly kind. You're so weak and pathetic but he's into that. You're pathetic in a cute way. He probably keeps a picture of you on his desk and likes to steal glances at it from time to time. He is grateful for your assistance and wants to repay you in some way.

He also likes to stare but unlike Crowley, his stares feel a lot more cold. You think he hates you or just flat out wants to kill you right where you are standing which causes you to avoid him, much to his disappointment. He's a bit of a gentleman and he tries to spoil you with little gifts such as flowers and whatnot. You always turn him down though, always. You break his heart every time you do this.

Shinoa Hiragii is absolutely THRIVING. She became an internet sensation basically overnight and her main platform is TikTok. She posts the most random shit ever but it's so bizarre and scattered that it's hard to look away. She uses sex appeal and her cuteness to get away from the dumb stuff she does, probably has a ton of simps and white knights that defend her. She tries to include you in her activities but you're too scared to be seen by her pure monsters of so called fans.

Hi this question isn't about treatment or anything but you and your followers seem to have a lot of knowledge about mental health and also i like your approach to mental illness so i thought to ask it here.

How do you regain connection to reality when you're mentally allergic to grounding exercises? I've been struggling a lot with delusions, hallucinations, and dissociating chunks of my life away the past however long, it's not the worst periods of time that this has gone on but it's up there. I've been through a lot of therapists and viop so i know of ~Grounding kits~ and ~Meditation~ and ~Reconnecting to your body~ etc, but the first one doesn't work for personal reasons and anything related to connecting to the body just makes me disconnect from reality faster in retaliation almost. How do I get back to any semblance of reality when the basic tools for doing that make it worse? I don't want to be Normal™, i just want control of my life back.

hey anon <3 I'll offer a few thoughts and suggestions but as always, I'm just one person, so take what works and leave the rest.

I'm someone who absolutely HATES so many types of grounding exercises and stuff like meditation and body work often feels particuarly inaccessible to me. So I defintely understand feeling like all the therapy things are just not helpful or actively make things worse.

Something that helped me start to feel more able to be in touch with reality was firstly taking a look at my life and trying to notice patterns. So often shit that I was feeling would just seem completely random, or be a symptom that happens so often that it starts to just blend into how I experience my life. But taking an overall look and asking okay, are there times where I ever do feel connected to reality? what does that look like? When are the times that I feel most disconnected? Are there any triggers I can notice? And writing all that shit down because god knows I can't remember all of that. That helped me notice what activities (whether therapist approved or not lmao), what situations, and what people helped me feel a little less lost and seperated from reality. Noticing what things already were naturally helping allowed me to be really intentional about incorporating those things into my routines and everyday life, and figuring what things were already helping, however small, allowed me to be creative about amplifying those.

For example, I noticed that during one of my particularly distressing hallucinations that involved seeing many different parts of something all over the sidewalk, something that made me feel mildly less freaked out was counting the hallucinations and creating a fake mental map on my head where I was like, placing the hallucinations as points on a map and counting them. This made me wonder if things that were sort of similiar in terms of categorizing things in my head such as doing sudoku puzzles, organizing random shit into piles, and doing complex one line drawings would help the distress. And it turns out that weirdly enough it did help a little bit. It didn't stop me from having the hallucination, but it did make the hallucination feel a little bit more under my control. Random shit like that helped me think outside the box about what coping skills might actually help when I was feeling so frustrated with how the ones off of therapy worksheets just did not feel applicable.

Another thing that sort of helps me is changing my mindset and goals about how I want to feel about my delusions, how I want to experience reality, how I want my relationship with my hallucinations to be. I used to get really frustrated all the time because none of the coping skills people would suggest to me could get rid of my delusions or help me stop seeing things that aren't there. Something another patient said to me that's stuck was "even if something only works 5%, lean into that and try to fuel that flame." Sometimes it helps me to sort of clarify what actually feels most important to me. Is what's most important descreasing the intensity of emotional distress when I experience upsetting hallucinations? Is it being able to still get tasks done when I'm delusional? is it being able to feel present when I'm spending time with my loved ones? Evaluating whether I'm more concerned with the intensity of the experience, the frequency of the experience, or the impact of it on my life functioning helps me figure out what to prioritize. Sometimes being able to get more specific about what actually feels most important helps me try out coping skills and actually be able to evaluate their effect instead of feeling always overwhelmed by the fact that I was still delusional, hallucinating, and out of touch with reality.

I don't quite have the right words to describe what I'm trying to say, but something else that I've been working on lately is how to sort of stop fighting against my hallucinations and more embracing them? not quite leaning into or encouraging them, but sort of just Stopping fighting. so often i get into thought spirals where I'm simultaneously hallucinating and then getting incredibly distressed about that and trying to fight it and trying to prove that it is or isn't real. Sometimes, it can help me to just be like "okay, this might be real, it might not. I'm experiencing it right now and it's okay if my reality is not the same as other people's realities right now. I'm going to try to move through the world right now anyway, and it's okay if that's difficult or odd." I'm trying to get out of battles with my hallucinations and delusions and instead trying things with the framework of "will this help me coexist with this delusion or hallucination? even if I am currently experiencing a different reality, how can I make small connections to other people's realities?"

Honestly, I don't really have a lot of advice, because this is still something that's very difficult for me! I don't often have a lot of insight when I am delusional and it is very hard not to slip into avoidence or dissociation especially when for me, my brain has learned a lot of these things as survival skills and it is hard to convince my brain that I am in safer situaions where I no longer need to cope like this.

I also want to validate that dealing with dissociation, hallucinations, and delusions can be so completely exhausting and frustrating. Whatever way you're feeling about all of it right now, you deserve to have the space to feel those emotions and know that you are not a failure because the conventional therapy skills that people want you to use are not working. That doesn't mean that you're doing anything wrong and you don't need to feel shame. I honestly think that a lot of conventional therapy stuff really doesn't know what the fuck to do with experiences like delusions, dissociation, and hallucinations and it is absolutely not just a you problem. I hope you're able to give yourself the space and time to acknowledge that you're so allowed to be exhausted, overwhelmed, and upset, and simultaneously embrace that you are doing the best you can with the tools you have in the environment you're in.
