JRWI SWAP AU Designs, Doodles and HCs (AU by @lui-gen )

Captain Gill

With how much OG Chip’s design changes over the course of Riptide I thought it would be cool to do a more mid-campaign design of Gill. The scribbles on his arm are supposed to be lightning tattoos that would parallel chips water ones, they seem like a cool way that gill could show his oath to the open sea, inspired by Finn. Unsure if he would have a prosthetic pinkie but i added it for now until the details of what happens at each island is figured out. I hc that the ship they were on before the albatross would go from the Big Chipper to like Destiny’s Tide or smth like that.

Caspian aka Captain Trench

I’m not the best at designing but wanted to have fun drawing a sinister little Caspian. Notable things are the feathers that Price had in his design is flowing water, which is actually also his water whip that he can magically summon the handle for. Also had him and Gill have matching scars across the nose because its fun 💥

Captain Ruben of the Navy

Kept his missing eye and thought the backstory behind it could change so that he lost it in some sort of fight, so the navy replaced it with a magical one and now he uses it as the main weapon in combat (it shoots beams n shit). Initially just drew him in a looser brain but maybe a bun would be more fitting since its more practical. (Far left image is him as a kid)

Origins headcanons

So obviously, in this swapped au Gill and Chip/Bellamy would meet first. Here, Bellamy works as a bartender and is curious about this trion that claims to have been on the same crew as Arlin, but not enough to answer honestly to any of Gill’s questions. So Gill tries to prove his worth by making Bellamy a drink that he hasn’t had before: a squirty! Thats what I thought of last night at least there could def be a cooler things for them to do,,

Jay having been brought up very isolated on Fetherbrook, she is not used to seeing people like Gill, so upon her first instinct she assumes he’s some sort of monster and shoots at him (to Chip’s amusement.)

I will surely draw more of this AU as it gets fleshed out but these are all my insane ramblings as of right now

decided to doodle some of my deltarune characters!! …Did I change anything about them? Uh, no? They look the same to me! You should probably get your eyes checked, man :-/

HIII THIS IS A SPECIES SWAP IDEA I HAD IN MY BRAIN FOR A WHILE :-)) Uhhh it’s kind of? a role swap too…?

This au is based in mostly chapter 1! (Noelle and Berdly are just there for the shits and giggles and aren’t really canon…for now anyways). Ralsei and Kris are the protags (lightners) and Susie is the dark prince(ss)! Ralsei is a human, Kris is a reptile, Susie is a goat, Noelle is a bird (a partridge specifically…partridge in a pear tree? xmas song? no? ok.) and Berdly is a reindeer! (His name would probably change honestly for…obvious reasons.) Ralsei -> Kris, Kris -> Susie, Susie -> Ralsei, Noelle -> Berdly, Berdly -> Noelle! Aaanndd that’s it?? I don’t really have anything else to say about it…look at my boys, boy.

Oh I feel fancy now!

Anyhow, I don't have any distinct go-to process but generally having a good idea for the au or the concept I want to design them based on and stemming from there.

Many of my more baseline Aus are close to my canonical designs. With the re-designs of Eleutheromania having a half/half Heart to match the Mind design and make him more distinct.

Then there are the more abstract things like the "Death Thirds" Which is an au I've not really spoken on, and I don't recall if I've posted them here. Though I know I have on Twitter. (I recall CJ liking the Soul design)

Those are meant to be more ethereal, uncanny and inhuman designs. They are VERY self indulgent and more an experiment than anything. Though I knew I wanted to use the Mind design off the album cover for CCCC as baseline inspo for Mind. Soul happened kind of accidentally tbh. I was doodling and he came about.

Theres a set I'm drawing right now which have been far more in-depth. But thats because they stem from an existing media. But that's all I'll say on that one!

As for the smaller guys... I wanted to draw an HMS which was closer to 'canon' in some ways or just different from my typical used for the Song Pieces! They actually well exemplify some thematics in terms of square mind, circle heart, triangle (with rounded edges) soul. Which is a motif I've had since even my VERRRRY very very first concept ideas for my HMS designs!! Shape language is very important to me, and its something I highly suggest learning about or messing with.

I also like to take their canonical clothing; Mind's leather jacket or black vest, Heart's hoodie, Soul's jacket and apply or manipulate it to fit a design. The stripes in my Soul jacket I believe aren't how the real jacket CJ owns is but more so ripped from Kai @/calamarispiderart ?

But yeah! Overall. Themes, motifs, things like that are key in my designs.

Pluto is also a good show of that. I wanted to make sure he looked as faded and washed out as he felt. So his hair is white and his colors, even his Heart and Mind's colors are desaturated and a little off. Lacuna Mind leans into navy and teal while Lacuna Heart is nearly pink!

The Swap designs are also a good example. Viscera is a Whole with nothing in him, and while now I see Soul as more exemplifying that- Whole needs to exist in this au more physically. So— Viscera takes that place. He's a husk and a shell. The half mask with an empty void on the otherside showcases just as much. And for as uncanny and blank as he seems, he is soft. His face is always very soft and maybe a little bit sad. Ennui, Swap!Mind maintains the half/half motif of my Mind designs if only to keep him recognizable. But, his source is a jagged and sharp edged heart and the strings run in a simplistic but sharp form of a heartbeat. Electricity forced to be another way. His features are also softer still from the typical Mind design! Even in what he wears! Judge I have fewer notes on other than his blindfold is not present and in its place is his brain source, obscuring both his eyes if he technically has them at all. Astray, Soul, is faceless. For what is Soul supposed to even be without the mask? Especially when he doesn't know much of anything at all.

Sooo yeah! Just. A big ramble that boils down to the answer of... I try most often to make sure the designs convey the personality or story of the character in some way. Themes and motifs or ideas from or for the au also play that same part.

Course I cannot tell you why the au where they are in eternal snow, Mind has white hair. That is far more a "felt like it" moment than anything else.

Sorry if this is too broad or non specific. I can probably go more into depth on particular designs but yeah! And sometimes a design is one and done. Other times they need many thumbnails or concepts to cycle through. My own designs for the canon HMS have changed a lot in little ways since I began drawing em!

RQG Art Masterpost

Hey guys! So recently I've had a wave of notes on some of my old rqg art, and a few new followers. I got really nostalgic about rqg and decided I wanted an easier way to access my rqg-related art (other than the dumpster fire that is tumblr's tagging system), and I wanted other people who are just finding my art to have an easy way of looking at the rest, if they want to. So I dug through everything and made a masterpost! My solution to absolutely everything that troubles me late at night is to yell to the rooftops about whatever has my interest, be it yapping off in my brain or reaching out to my bros. But tonight I decided “here we go I’m giving up my wack ass AU to Tumblr” as my coping skill.

It’s an age swap au mostly centered around DazAtsu (this is your cue to leave if your not here for that) and the 18 Dazai navigating through grief and life in the agency, along side his strange growing feelings towards Atsushi that he just can’t seem to name. the way I see it is that since him and Atsushi have swapped ages, it’s either his past would have taken place much earlier or he would have just skipped the years in hiding and gone straight to the other side like Oda had wished of him.

I’ve actually had two fanfictions written for it so far that have almost NOTHING to do with adjusting to his life because of inconsistency but I will still post the first one as well as the second one hoping I didn’t just copy paste the same exact link twice. Funny story I actually came up with this thanks to taking part in the 2023 DazAtsu week over on twitter before I deleted the app and account, it came with a art piece I’ve featured previously on here, those are (kind of) their designs but those aren’t the updated ones. God now that I’m thinking about it I’ve been cooking this up for MONTHS and haven’t said or done much of anything on it publicly.

Actually while I’m on my tangent here is the doodles, showcasing them mostly

I leave a lot of things unfinished in terms of both art and writing. But, without further adeiu here’s some little facts I managed to keep bouncing in my pinball machine of a brain:

• Dazai had been in contact with Ranpo after Oda’s death and received an offer to become a detective. While waiting by the iconic river for who he thought was Ranpo intrusive thoughts struck him and he jumped into the water. Atsushi fished him out and gave him his coat.

• he’s been stealing that damn huge coat any chance he gets ever since

• Dazai had one of Oda’s shirts, it became a source of comfort after his friend’s death to the point he just hardly took it off.

• Atsushi’s attire, though hardly professional is actually acceptable considering what his ability does to clothes.

• Yosano, Dazai, and Kyouka all share a close somewhat familial bond over their dealings with the port mafia and Mori. Yosano also has a spare key to Dazai’s dorm incase he relapses.

• Dazai still cannot cook for shit no matter how people try to teach him, not even his mentor crush Atsushi is successful in doing so.

• Dazai always feels intimidated by Fukuzawa, and tries his hardest to avoid eye contact with him afraid he’ll disrespect him.

• the dynamics of skk and sskk are mostly unchanged other than sskk being both wiser between themselves, and skk being two feral little shits that need to be put in cages.

not sure if I mentioned Chuuya and Akutagawa being swapped like Dazai and Atsushi. Oops.

Look at that you got to the end, feels good? Bad? Well you got here anyways. I quite enjoyed rambling to the walls of my enclosure hoping to be given a piece of cheese, I actually forgot about my stresses for a moment whilst i ran to go grab my sketches. ‘Twas nice, happy holidays you crazy people who decided to read this post.

One is he’s not actually evil (Don’t ask why I chose the angry evil lookin Dahlia sprite to redraw with him in that case) but was rather kinda threatened into crimes and such,

The OTHER idea, alternatively Actually swaps Bobby with Iris, but who’s Dahlia in this case? Phantom. Yup. If I go with that idea Phantom is now Bobby’s twin.

I actually got a shitpost doodle for that one

Soo Marcy aus! I don't know who made the expression sheets, but lets get into the aus! (See info below the cut on the aus!) ((also, if you have an au in this and don't want it, tell me and I can scribble/remove it out if you want!!))

A1, F1 and F7 (Orginal, Calamity (She go Blep!) and Adult) are all from the original show.

B1 (marky) is from the Fandom, while E7 (Darcy) is heavily inspired from the fandom.

C1, A7, and F2 aus, (Left behind, God and Cursed respectively) were designed by my friend. Left behind is well, being left in Amphibia. God is being a god and Cursed is based off my other expression sheet draw here.

E2 (fantasy au) was created by the lovely @tinydragontoons! Thank you for letting me draw her and lovely Mars! Def. go check them out. They got lots of art!!

E1 (True calamity) was inspired by a youtube video: THIS By the lovely Rezmei Seno!!

A2 (medieval) was not directly from someone but was heavily inspired by many people. There are so many medieval aus I couldn't just choose one!

B2 (PJO aka Percy Jackson Au) is VERY inspired (and also from) the amazing @raqueliie 's au!! I highly recommend checking it out if you have not. Their art is also AMAZING!

C2 and B4 (Good ending and Bad ending) are both from my mini-series "what if"? comics I like to doodle in my sketchbook. Also D4 (beyond Amphibia) is another, (newer) part to my "What If-?" mini series. Its where the trio stay in amphibian and go to the new continent previously undiscovered.

D2 (amphibia as a child) is also very widely popular and I love it.

A3 and B7 (Swap!Sasha and Swap!Anne) are designed by me, but there are bunches out there and its really fun to see what could have happened!

B3 (only Human au) was orginally inspired by one of @themissakat aus. I don't originally recall which one started this particular au, but I do know that if you want to find more aus, go to their page and you will have aus for YEARS! Its beautiful.

C3 is obviously my au. (Lost au) If you want to know more, you can go here. Summary is, its a corruption au but worse. And in context for this, Marcy isn't fully corrupted yet.

D3 (superhero au) and C4 (fairytale au) are also aus of one of my friends. The super hero, they got powers. In fairy tale, I really have no clue where its going, but all I know is that it's pretty gay.

E3 (owl house swap), B5 (Hogwarts) and A6 (UA - MHA/My Hero Academia au) are all fandom swaps and I just adore fandom swaps.

F3 (Ghost au) is also very fandom what if. Probably one of my favorite au ideas, and its certainly fun to mess with. There are lots of people who have added to this au.

A4 (Zombie au) and A5 (Soulmates au, and yes that is Sashannarcy my beloved) are very popular au ideas so I just had to add them. Any people to point to? No, but once again, The Missa Kat does have a zombie au!

E4 (Gender swap) is special. The reason why the gender swap is facing away (not just bc that was in the expression sheet) was kinda just, because they look the same XD. I have no known knowledge of any current aus of that, but maybe there is some that I'm just previously unaware of!

F4 (Power of Three au!!) is one of my LONG TIME FAVORITE aus. I have been a huge fan of this one. Its one of @honneibun 's aus and its so AMAZING! I highly recommend just looking at it. Its beautiful and It will always live rent free in my brain.

C5 (streamer/YT au) is from a fic I read a long time ago which never finished. If anyone can tell me who and where it is, I will be glad and my life will finally be complete. D5 (Author au, NOT COMIC BOOK AUTHOR) is heavily inspired by the time skip and the above (C5) streamer/YT au. As far as I am aware, there are no current aus with this.

E5 (Oversimplified), well. I think you guys can probably guess. On YT there is a Simplified or Oversimplified series (idk maybe its called "So this is basically _____ "or something and I thought, Amphibia should be included!) and so.. yeah!

B6 (opposite au), I.. really do not like that one and will probably or def change it. Idk what was going through my head as I drew/edited it.

C6 (Never went to Amphibia au) is another popular one that I just HAD to include.

D6 is apart of my SCP aus that I also have. If you don't know what SCP is, then.. there's a website. Basically it stands for Sucure, Contain and Protect and it holds all the supernatural and dangerous creatures. (Its not real guys!)

E6 (newt au) is basically swapped Amphibia au. Very popular and I sometimes wished that there were more of them.

F6 (roommates au) however was HEAILY inspired and particially from I think @kyoryu 's au on twitter? I think its the same one. If its wrong than I can change it, but I'm pretty sure I'm right?

C7 (Animal au) I've seen everywhere and soo... I added it. No known (main) aus on it.

Finally, D7 (Alien au) Another one of my various multifandom aus that sit in my BIG BOOK OF AUS in the corner of my work area. Its always fun like that!!

wandersong x wings of fire au weehee

i am here with a new long post about a crossover au. this one i’ve been thinking about for a LONG time so i have lots developed in my brain already! i’ve been waiting to make references but i’ve been too lazy to do that so. just have this small silly doodle instead

(these designs are not final because again. i have been too lazy to make actual references for them but they’re a Basic Idea for dragon kiwi and miriam)

this is going to be VERY long so i’m putting it under the cut!!!

With this being an au, it doesn’t take place in any set time period in canon Pyrrhia—I think it’s like somewhere when the Night Kingdom is still on the Talon Peninsula, but also RainWings are already pacifists (though they still have some connection to other tribes, less than in Darkstalker’s time but more than modern Pyrrhia. And they can read). NightWings have animus dragons, and IceWings still do as well, though I haven’t decided if there are any living ones at the moment (NightWings did not get their magic from the IceWings in this AU). Most canon characters don’t exist except i guess past IceWing animus dragons because i want the Ice Kingdom to still have those gifts and stuff!!! ANYWAY onto the actual Wandersong part of the AU:

Act 1 & 7 take place in the Rainforest Kingdom, Act 2 is in the Sky Kingdom, Act 3 is in the Kingdom of the Sea, Act 4 is in the Ice Kingdom, Act 5 is in the Kingdom of Sand and the Night Kingdom, and Act 6 is in the Mud Kingdom! I originally had the Sky Kingdom and Mud Kingdom swapped, because Act 6 and mountains and the fact that the Mud Kingdom is closer to the rainforest, but with the theme of Act 2 being winds/freedom and Act 6 being hearts, it just made more sense this way. Though I’ve yet to figure out how the swamps would be super dangerous.

Kiwi is named Kiwi (wow) and is a RainWing/IceWing hybrid! They grew up in the Ice Kingdom before changing their name and moving to a village in the Rainforest Kingdom later in life. They look mostly RainWing, just with IceWing back spikes and smaller teeth (so they have no venom). They also have no frostbreath, and have normal non-serrated claws so they are about the least threatening dragon ever. And they can change color! They like to do that a LOT. Most of the time they change their scales to fit vaguely with their surroundings, like the way their color palette changes in the game, and they change some spots to align when they sing to align with the color of the note! Kiwi has strangely good control of their scales when it comes to the emotions shown on them. Unfortunately they have had a lot of practice; their ‘strategy’ is simply to not think about negative emotions and repress them to the point where it’s basically like they’re not having them anymore (this isn’t true, of course, but they also try not to think about that either). They’ve spent a lot of their life only letting the happy thoughts through for their mother, who is a RainWing named Iridescent. Their father is an IceWing named Evergreen (A.K.A. the Baron), though the only thing they know about him is that he is an IceWing. They didn’t have a lot of friends growing up—they didn’t live within the Circles, so it wasn’t as hard as it would have been in them, they still had the status of being weird. Which is also a reason why they’re so good at controlling their scales, but I don’t think they’d interact that much with others anyway. Nobody remembers them when they return. Mostly they’d go outside for suntime.

Okay some more wholesome tidbits: they named themself Kiwi because it was the first fruit they ever had! And in the rainforest, they have LOTS of pet sloths. And also other pets??? Animals there are just very drawn to them. Though they’re less ‘pets’, really, the other RainWings call them that. Kiwi also looks after everyone else’s sloths when they’re busy, which basically became their assignment by accident. They always wanted to have ‘bard’ be their assignment (although it’s not an actual Official one), and then it ended up being petsitter. Oh well, they can have two!

Miriam is a NightWing. I haven’t entirely figured out her name, so any suggestions would be helpful! I’ve been thinking something related to the sun (because I love Miriam sun symbolism and also the circumstances of her hatching which I will get into in a bit), something to do with fire? Explosions? Or anything relating to her personality, etc. I’ve been using the name “Magicspinner” for now as a placeholder although I’m not entirely sure, but I’ll just be using that for the rest of the post. Again, any suggestions welcome!! Magicspinner lives with her grandmother, Sapphirevision, in a small house around the Claws of the Clouds mountains—just a cave away from a little town in one of the lower parts of the Sky Kingdom. Saphy has future-seeing abilities, while Magicspinner doesn’t have any moonborn NightWing abilities. However, you may have guessed from her placeholder name that she is an animus! That’s why she always carries a broom on her; it was the first object she ever enchanted! Her earrings are probably enchanted too, and she also wears an enchanted necklace (I haven’t fully figured out what they do yet but they are there!!! I’m not getting rid of her broom. The Broom Is Eternal).

They live separated from the rest of the tribe to be safe from the war going on between the NightWings and SandWings. Saphy initially lived on her own out there—her sister, Rubysight, also left with her, but decided she didn’t want to live with Saphy and instead went to the rainforest—until Magicspinner’s parents left her egg with Saphy to stay protected as well. And also to raise her, because the two were important generals in the war, and wouldn’t be able to do it themselves. They may have also feared that if she ended up being an animus that the queen would find out and use her as a weapon.

And there’s a reason they live by the Sky Kingdom specifically! They have SkyWing genes in them! That’s how their family got animus magic—some generations ago, a SkyWing discovered they were an animus, but didn’t tell anyone out of fear of being killed for it. They lived on the edge of the kingdom for a while, isolated, just to make sure they wouldn’t be found out. Through some events they ended up meeting a NightWing, falling in love, and moving to the Night Kingdom. They still decided staying hidden was the best option, and continued to carry that belief down each generation, but at least they didn’t have to constantly live in fear anymore. So, the NightWings have had animus dragons for a while now, and still don’t know about it. Saphy managed to find that same house in her ancestor’s story and has been living there.

I mentioned I’d get into the circumstances of Magicspinner’s hatching later, and later is now! I wanted to give her sun symbolism while still being a NightWing, and also a special hatching considering her always having had a “special destiny” in the game (not exactly stated ingame but confirmed outside of it and implied in things like the way she’s the Only one of the main trio without a change in color palettes), so! She hatched during the dark period of a solar eclipse. Saphy had seen it in a vision, and knew to put her outside at the time, but the fact that that could happen at all was very surprising to her.

And now onto Audrey! She is a MudWing! Originally I had her as a SkyWing, but honestly I think she works better as a MudWing. She’s maybe even a blood-red egg MudWing. Her name in this AU is just Redheart, referring to the small tree that can be found on the edges of swamps.

The sword is an enchanted object that lets Redheart breathe lightning if she holds in her fire for long enough! It also lets her breathe fire in colder climates. I can’t decide whether to keep it as a sword or to have it be a wearable item or something though.

And also this is getting super long!!! And it is late! There was a lot more I wanted to talk about but unfortunately I’m too tired right now. I didn’t even get into the story bits!!

Presenting the First Hero of Yunmeng and the Pearl of GusuLan!

It's about time I drew the almighty galaxy brain idea of Xicheng! Sect Swap AU. Ahhh I’m so late to the sect swap train 😭🚂🚂! In my version of the AU, it's a whole generation sect swap between the Jiang and the Lans. There is Jiang Xichen and Jiang Wangji, while there is also Lan Wanyin and Lan Yanli. I’m not sure where should I put Wei Wuxian though🤔🤔 (I suppose you could convince me in the comments hohoho👀👀) OH GOD, THIS IS SO SELF-INDULGENT HAHAHA. If there are any cultural inaccuracies, please let me know! This is just a half-baked AU HAHAHA

Anyway, in my version, I had Qingheng-Jun and the Rat-shit—I mean Jiang Fengmian, exchange wives.

Qingheng-Jun fell in love with Yu Ziyuan when she saved his ass in a nighthunt. And Yu Ziyuan also fell in love much more gradually as she can't resist the persistent and patient wooing of Lan-zongzhu. There was no incident or scandal. Just one big happy family of a girlboss and her simp of a husband, and two very beautiful precious children. Also, there is the doting LQR who spoils his niece and nephew, though he denies it vehemently every time someone calls him out on it.

The Lan family has decided to have both of the Lan siblings crowned as the Sect Heirs. The Lan Sect has decided to have a dual-ruling governing system in place for this generation, as it is for the best. The soft yet firm, kind, empathetic, and diplomatic Lan Yanli and the logical, strategic, shrewd, sharp Lan Wanyin together are virtually unstoppable. And the siblings are very much content and happy with this arrangement. They are known as the Magnolia of GusuLan, and the Pearl of GusuLan respectively.

(Note: Furen means Lady or Madame, or something along those lines. So, Lady/Madame Jiang. Its not a name)

Meanwhile, the not-so-happy Jiang Family, Jiang Furen was forced into a political marriage with JFM (sorry, Ma'am). Jiang Furen was a daughter of an influential minor sect who wanted to be a rogue cultivator in her own right and to get away from her oppressive father. But alas, (I'm so sorry again, ma'am) she was strongarmed into this marriage. She bore two beautiful boys with her family's brown golden eyes, opposed to the greys and blues of the Jiang lineage. These beautiful boys are the loves and lights of her empty life—even though their father doesn't seem to pay special attention to his own children. She cares not. As long as they will never doubt her love, then she is content.

There was no love in the Jiang marriage, as JFM was pathetically pining around for Cangse Sanren. JFM liked his wife well enough, she was fairly softer and actually knows how to hold her tongue more than *that* Yu Ziyuan, who was his first would-be-betrothed. Yes, definitely Jiang Furen was the better prospect.

Oh, how we desperately wished for his beloved Sanren to be his wife!

Well, he supposed he likes his sons well enough also. They were bright young men who excelled in the Jiang forms and cultivation style at a very early age. Yes, very worthy as the heirs of the Jiang Lotus Throne. Though he definitely likes amiable A-Huan more than the distant A-Zhan.

But— he has heard that Cangse Sanren had a son with Wei-xiong. He wonders what his name is. How old he is. How he laughs (though he is sure that it would be a mirror of Sanren's tinkling bell laughter). How he talks—would he be like Sanren's bubbly chatter or have Changze's thoughtful diction? What he looks like.—does he have Sanren's dark midnight eyes or Changze's grey? Or what are his hobbies? What is his favorite food?

He already loves Sanren's child who is surely as bright and beautiful as her.

Soooo, I have some half-baked doodles of this AU in the abyss that are my WIPs. I shall finish it soon enough during my Xmas break. I think.

Imagine Lauren... but in the Mum swap au

Kaisa would know about her probably since she and Johanna were close friends but would she try and look for Lauren? What happens when Lauren comes back, and it threatens the life she’s had to build with Hilda?

(If you don’t know what Mum swap is please ignore my rambling, I just have a lot of brain rot today XD)

Soooo I was really hyped to get this ask because I LOVE mumswap, but then I forgot about it for ages LMAO. Anyways, Caleb and I talked about a few different ways Lauren could be incorporated into the AU, and we ended up with around three options I think, but in the end, we came up with this-

Lauren runs away at the same time as she does in her canon timeline - before Hilda is born, and before Johanna leaves Trollberg. So she was gone before the whole Johanna-gets-deathly-sick-and-Kaisa-steals-a-child thing, meaning she has no idea she even has a little sister. She leaves for similar reasons to her canon, which I won’t get into because they might conflict with the mumswap timeline (see this is what I meant in this post when I said Lauren is THIS close to breaking the timeline). Her time in the wilderness doesn’t change, as this doesn’t involve any mumswap characters, it’s when she comes home that the changes become more prevalent -

Lauren comes home and reunites with Johanna a while after Hilda and Kaisa come to Trollberg, but before any Johanna-is-Hilda’s-bio-mum reveals. The kids know The Librarian fairly well at this point, well enough to be reasonably surprised when a grown woman claiming to be her daughter shows up out of nowhere

But Johanna quells any of their worries - and she’s delighted to have Lauren back, and given everything she’s lost, she’s….a little protective (and very affectionate)

With all that in mind, Lauren becomes a familiar face around the library, and many other parts of Trollberg, as her endless hunt for a stable job leads her all around the city. She adores Hilda and the kids, and is always happy to help them out on their adventures.

In terms of how this effects Kaisa-

We thought it would be fun to go the comedic route with this

Lauren and Kaisa know eachother, which means in order for shit not to hit the fan, the two of them can’t meet. However unlike Johanna, Lauren is not confined to the Library, so they’re more likely to come in close contact. But by some insane coincidence, they keep just missing eachother

Hilda, doesn’t notice anything off about this, she has no reason to believe she’s connected to The librarian or her daughter. As for Kaisa…

Yeah there may be a slight communication issue there

Lauren, of course, isn’t sceptical either, why should she suspect anything from the cute little girl who frequents the Library? There’s nothing suspicious about any of this

Right?

As you’ve probably notice by this point, Lauren’s design changes for the mumswap au! This post is pretty long already so I won’t include it here, but I do have a full ref for her! And I’ve got at least one more doodle I’m working on for this AU…

You’ve probably already noticed this but for this ask and the upcoming ref, I incorporated aspects of @calebs-hangout-corner’s style! It was very fun to do, and I really like this style so I’ll probably steal some of this stuff permanently :))

The Bargain Pt 7 | Feysand

Modern AU. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 8

Rhys and Feyre sat on the sidewalk passing a tray of chips between them.

Rhys had woken up in a good mood. The two of them were meeting at the mural site, and on the way Rhys passed a cart selling hot chips and slices of sausage with a curry sauce. Not a conventional breakfast, but delicious.

Today, he was spending the day alone with Feyre, making a giant painting, and he that sounded like the best offer he'd had in a long time. In fact, they would be doing this for the next five days. He had whistled on the way there.

Feyre had turned up in these adorable little paint splattered overalls, with her hair piled up in a bun. Part of Rhys wished he was painting her today.

They were staring up at the wall where their mural was going to go, armed with an array of paint tins and aerosol cans and discussing how to start. On the one hand, when designing the piece they had taken turns and that had worked really well. On the other, it didn't make sense for only one of them to be working at a time. In the end, they decided they would lay down the base structure, and work from either end until they met in the middle.

When they finished their chips, Feyre got up and started pulling out reams of string and weights from her pocket to make a grid, the same way she always started. Then the wind picked up, blowing the string out of her hands and Feyre cursed.

"What are you doing?" Rhys asked her, the corner of his mouth lifting.

"Making the reference grid." Feyre looked at him. "Don't tell me you were just going to freehand the whole thing. Don't be a hero, Rhys."

Rhys laughed. "I was going to use a lazy grid. Use a gibberish reference instead of a grid, so you don't have to get the lines perfect."

"I don't know what a lazy grid is, but if it cuts out the straight lines, then be my guest."

Feyre put the string back in her pocket, while Rhys picked up a can of pink spray paint and gave it a shake. Then he walked up and down the wall, making big sweeping letters all over the white base.

Rhysand is a spectacular person. Rhysand is the most handsome mural artist.

"Hey," Feyre said. "What about me?"

Rhys didn't turn, just filled in the last section of the wall.

Feyre you look absolutely delicious today.

The wall now filled with pink squiggles, Rhys back down next to Feyre. Where she smacked him across the arm.

"Since when are you such an outrageous flirt?" she asked him. "I don't know," Rhys answered honestly. "I'm just in a really good mood today." He smiled broadly, and Feyre rolled her eyes at him. But he caught her grin before she turned her head away, and his day just kept getting better.

Rhys completed his lazy grid: took a photo of the wall, uploaded it onto his laptop and then overlaid their design onto the photo. Instead of having a square grid as a reference point, they could now see what parts of the design matched up to what curly letter on the wall, and plot the painting scaled up.

And then they started painting.

By the end of the first day, they got the outline and main structure filled in. Feyre used a broad brush for her half, but Rhys used a lot of spray paints to cover large sections. At one stage, he got so lost in the process, unused to having someone painting by his side, that he nearly forgot Feyre was there. Until he took a step back to check the image from a far, and realised that Feyre had painted Feyre is the most delightful mural artist along the bottom of the wall where his pink script hadn't reached.

On day two, it was Feyre who showed up with breakfast. Fresh pretzels and pastries filled with cherries, and more hot coffee. Rhys traded his aerosols for brushes and they began painting in broad sweeps of rainbow colours, in Feyre's style. He painted blues across the bottom, yellows in the top, and a stripe of green across Feyre's left ear. She shrieked and flicked purple right across his chest before she had realised what she had done, and then looked mortified.

"Rhys, your shirt, I'm so sorry," she had said. Rhys pretended to be outraged for a minute, and then swiped orange across her nose before running away from her and letting her chase him down the street before calling a truce. And leaving a handprint on her back for her to find later.

On the third day, Feyre brought a speaker and they had music to work to. They added shadows and depth, and the image started to come alive before them. A wave of summer rolling from left to right. And everyday Feyre and Rhys worked closer and closer until they met in the middle. They had been swapping which side they worked on, too, so that they could make sure it was nice and cohesive. Rhys started leaving tiny messages in the spaces he knew Feyre was going to paint over.

I like the colour you put here, he wrote in one section.

In another: This bit reminds me of picnics.

And then especially well-hidden: I never thought I'd see you again.

When Feyre found the last one, she said out loud, "Rhys you big baby you have me on Instagram, you can talk to me whenever you like."

"I couldn't," he said, "you were a client." "I'm not now," she retorted, "so you can."

And then she returned to her painting, leaving Rhys to wonder what he might text her if he did.

Day four was the day of details. They picked up smaller brushes, and picked out careful patterns, finer outlines, points of solid black and white. Highlights, dot work, and the points on curls and tendrils. When they reached the centre, and then crossed the road to see the full effect, neither Rhys not Feyre could tell which parts were theirs and which parts were the other's.

Rhys whistled, and flung his arm over Feyre's shoulders.

"I think we might be done, what do you reckon?" he asked her. "I think we might be done, too," Feyre agreed. "A day early. We should call Tarquin."

Suddenly, it hit home that if they were done, he'd have to go home and Feyre would a continent away.

"No," he said. "Tarquin's not expecting us to be finished until tomorrow afternoon. Let's just have fun tomorrow, take the day off and tell him it's done at the end of the day."

Feyre looked up at him from under his arm, squinting through one eye.

"Rhysand you diabolical thing," she said. Then she stuck her hand out. "You've got yourself a deal." They shook on it, and Rhys breathed a sigh of relief. He was sure he could make one day last a lifetime.

"Come on," she said. "We'll just sign our names on the bottom."

She picked up the brush and put her signature in the corner, and then handed the brush to Rhys. He squatted down where she had been, pushed up his sleeves, and scrawled his name in next to hers. Then looked up and grinned at her.

But she was staring at his hands with her jaw hanging open. His smiled faded, as he followed her eyes and saw what she was looking at. Not his hands. His arm.

And the coloured tattoos that he had inked there after she drew them on in sharpie at their last booking a year ago.

AAAAAA THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING I'M SO 👁👁 AT THE AU!! i'm even more curious about the 30 year olds (lmao oldasses) bc they didn't really have a concrete life plan in canon!! i also saw that izumi, azuma, chikage, and hisoka are the same age so im super intrigued!! did yukio just leave, why izumi became the autumn leader, do they go to the same school, and where is august in this au are the questions floating around in my brain!! AND DAD ENERGY SAKUYA SO TRUE he practically adopted izumi, azuma, chikage, and hisoka bc of their similar family circumstances (probs??? not to impose on your ideas though!!) and the lone wolves link skill became a 5-person one now lol I LOVE THIS AU SO MUCH AAAAAAA

Just like last time, this got long, so under the cut - for context on what this is about you can look at the mAnkAi swAp tag on my blog! tl;dr: ages of the cast get shuffled around. changes result in much to think about!

first of all. YES. they are very much oldheads. I've literally realized just now in writing this response that Azami should... technically be 31? Because my original methodology was to swap from the two extremes (14 year old become 30, 30 year old become 14, and so on). And while I ended up doing much more tweaking for the high schoolers ages to make it Make more sense, the older crowd remained the same. But um, I forgot that Azami is actually 1 year younger then Yuki and Muku. Oops!

You're absolutely right in that it's hard bc they dont have life plans in canon, which means It's Free Real Estate.

Azami Izumida - Azami, you really got the short end of the stick in this AU, I'm going to be painfully honest. In this verse, his father died when he was about 20 - and without Mankai and Sakyo around to encourage him to find his own path in life, he ended up taking up the family business and becoming the head of the Ginsenkai. He runs the organization with diligence, although deep down he knows its not what he wants to be doing with his life.

He's known Juza ever since he joined the yakuza (at age 17), and holds him in high respect. He appreciates that Juza isn't cruel, but also isn't fake with Azami, and is willing to be honest with him even when that honesty is blunt.

Recently, a young Sakyo Furuichi approached him and asked to join the yakuza in hopes of making money for his family. However, Azami rejected him - not seeing the yakuza as a place for a promising young man such as him.

Muku Sakisaka - Despite his unassuming demeanor, thirty-year-old Muku is actually quite the celebrity - being a renowned shoujo mangaka. Which, funnily enough, makes him kind of parallel to Homare? Famous artist who you wouldn’t expect to be one based on their personality.

Since he didn't have the theater to turn to after he had his injury, in this verse he instead decided to work on his artistic skills. And like...

This is his practice doodle, and I think it's pretty cute! So I don't think it's out of the question to assert that with more time, Muku would be somebody quite capable of producing some good shoujo classics.

He joined Mankai due to a bout of artists block, and hoped the environment would provide him with new inspiration.

Yuki Rurikawa - A well-known fashion designer. Yuki... actually doesn't change that much in this AU? He's definitely more genuinely confident in himself in this verse, which means he isn't always as acidic - he doesn't need to put up a bravado of confidence anymore. But otherwise, same old Yuki, great new package.

and now for the 16 year olds (abandonment issues crew) lets make some NOISE. please dont feel bad for suggesting sakuya adopts them because he ABSOLUTELY DOES. like, obviously all of the adults in the company are parents now :tm:, but sakuya is number 1 dad. masumi also, because he's now realized how fucked up his dad was and he's trying to become a better role model then he was. i have made a meme to illustrate the vibes

So, first of all, let me talk to you about my darling daughter:

Izumi Tachibana - Imagine: it has been one year since your father disappeared. For the most part, things have returned back to normal - or as normal as things will ever be, now that he’s gone.

Then you see a flyer on the street. For the goddamn Mankai Company.

Would you react well? Because um. Izumi didn’t! Understandably!

She was pissed, assuming that her father was back and didn’t even bother to say hi to her and mom - mirroring her longstanding issue of her father valuing the theater over her. So maybe she didn’t think logically. Maybe she just went over to the Mankai theater as fast as she could, and angrily demanded that she speak to the director.

The first person she met was one Yuki Rurikawa. And well - he could tell this kid was upset, for some reason. But also Banri had denied him the budget increase he so clearly deserved, so Yuki was feeling petty and decided not to clarify anything. He just told her that “he’s right over there.”

So she just goes up to the figure and punches him, because she’s 16 and she’s angry and honestly, have you met an angry 16 year old whose angry at her father? I was one. It’s intense. And then he turns around, and it’s not her father at all, but it’s Banri.

She immediately apologizes, but Banri honestly isn’t even that mad. He’s just kind of impressed. #Girlboss! She explains her situation, and Banri invites her to audition for the autumn troupe.

You may ask: wait isn’t mankai a men only theater. and my response is ya but idk <3 #girlboss

As for Izumi being a bad actress, I posit that so were Sakuya and Juza. I forget where I saw it, but I remember seeing some fic or meta say that the only problem is that Izumi never had her own Izumi, somebody to nurture her talent and make her bloom. But in this AU, she does.

She’s the leader because honestly? She volunteered first. Sakyo was considering volunteering, but when Izumi volunteered, he yielded to her. Her style as a similar is pretty similar to her style as a director, except y’know she’s a teenager.

Azuma Yukishiro - ohhh azuma poor little meow meow.

He’s more fresh off of his familys death in this verse, which does make him a bit squishier. However, he’s also less emotionally distant, because he hasn’t had all of the years to try and convince himself he’s #coping. He’s actually honest enough to admit that he doesn’t want to have his own room in this verse - so he ends up rooming with Tsumugi and Tasuku is the solo room.

(my friends joked that because Tasuku and Tsumugi aren’t ‘divorced’ in this verse, Banri decided to divorce them by making them not be in the same room. this does actually make their problem of exerting themselves too hard for the others sake worsen, bc they can stay up late studying without the other noticing.)

Chikage Utsuki and Hisoka Mikage and also August - y’know, for somebody who constantly reblogs gekkagumi content and is constantly thinking about gekkabros, it is actually kind of hilarious that i have no fucking clue what they’re up to in this AU.

It’s something I’ve been rotating and trying to think about! Theoretically, most of their arc could remain the same, because I do think that Chikage and Hisoka entered the Organization at around age 12. But my friends and I still haven’t decided if we want to keep it the same, or have it changed up somehow? The main issue I personally keep running into is justifying the year where Hisoka joins the company but Chikage doesn’t, since if they aren’t split up by potion of erase your memory, I don’t see why they’d go their seperate ways. And then there’s August to think about... I don’t know!!

I definitely think there’s something fun and unique that could be gotten from their dynamic in this AU, but it hasn’t been cracked quite yet. But also imagining August as a really overdramatic theater parent is everything I need in my life. In my moms home videos of my own community theater productions, you can literally hear my father distinctly whistling during all of the sections where everybody is clapping. This is Augustcore.

One thing to note tho is that if the Chikage arc goes the same way, there is definitely going to be like. a Moment where Banri realizes he got kidnapped by a 17 year old and he’s like “goddamn it this is kinda cringe isn’t it. anyway this kind of overdramatic response is exactly what i would have done if i was a kid lmao lets get you to bed.”

As for the schools... that’s a great question omg. We haven’t decided where Izumi goes to school! But there’s so much potential for interesting dynamics there. And depending on how we end up handling Chikage and Hisoka in this AU, it’s possible they aren’t even going to be going to a regular high school because y’know, Spy Kids. Which brings about a really funny scene in my head where Hisoka isn’t going to school and Banri asks him if he has enough absence days stored up, and then Banri comes to the realization that he literally does not go to school.

And for Yukio, yup, he still left! It’s just that he only left 1 year prior to the story starting.

How about a short high school au?

Remy Sanders sat in art class, already having finished the assigned sketch project and sitting in silence. He was trying not to stare, but it’s hard when the guy sitting right in front of him was so damn attractive. Emile Pacani, the boy in front of him, was basically Remy’s dream boy. Emile was sweet and smart and really kind. And Remy was gay, really gay. He would have asked Emile out by now if he wasn’t so damn awkward around cute boys, and if he actually knew if Emile liked guys.

Emile didn’t even notice that Remy was staring, he was busy with his art project. Art wasn’t Emile’s strong suit, despite what everyone thought. Emile, with his love for cartoons and storytelling, could barely hold a pencil. Remy watched as Emile furiously erased what he had drawn. He decided that today would be the day he actually had a conversation with Emile, even if it was just to give him some drawing tips.

“If you draw the lines lighter, you won’t have to erase so hard,” Remy said, slipping into the empty seat next to Emile. Emile looked over at Remy before going back to his art.

“You’re probably right. I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.”

“Well, you’re not doing a terrible job, you just need to learn some tricks to make it better,” Remy said, grabbing his pencil and a sheet of paper. “Lemme show you.” He demonstrated a few things, different ways to hold the pencil and how to draw gently and erase so that the paper didn’t tear. Emile watched, eyes wide, soaking in every detail.

“You’re really good,” Emile said. Remy felt his face turn hot, his mouth suddenly unable to form coherent words. He reminded himself that it was just a compliment, that he needed to get over his crush for a minute.

“Um, thanks,” Remy finally said. Emile turned around and looked that Remy’s completed sketch. Remy suddenly became very aware of all the little mistakes he made on the drawing, but Emile didn’t seem to notice a single one of them.

“I think you’re the best artist in the class! I wish I could draw like that.”

“Well, practice makes perfect and all that.” The words fell awkwardly off Remy’s lips. His face was still a bright shade of red and he wished that he could hide in his leather jacket.

“You’re right, I need more practice!” Emile laughed. “I don’t want to make you feel obligated, so totally tell me if I crossed a line, but do you think you could teach me some more? Like, after school?”

Hanging out with Emile after school was Remy’s dream, but he wasn’t about to admit it.

“I’m sorry, that was a dumb thing to ask,” Emile apologized. Remy practically jumped out of his seat at the fear of losing his chance to spend more time with Emile.

“No! I mean, of course I would like to teach you some stuff. Maybe you could come over to my place and I let you use some of my art supplies or something?” Emile’s face brightened as he agreed.

“Oh, I don’t think I caught your name,” Emile said as the bell rang, signaling the end of class.

“Um, it’s Remy.”

“Well, thank you then Remy!”

Remy waited impatiently for Emile to arrive. He had given Emile his phone number and address right after art class and was anxiously pacing his families shed, which had been redesigned to serve as an art studio for Remy.

Finally, he saw the other boy walking up the driveway and he practically ran over to greet him.

“Hey! Thanks for doing this, it means a lot,” Emile said, following Remy to the shed.

“It’s no problem. I can’t promise that I’ll make a good teacher, but I can try.” Remy opened the shed door and motioned for Emile to walk inside. When Emile got in, his jaw dropped a couple of inches as he took in the sight.

Remy had been allowed to paint the walls, and he had chosen to use chalk paint so that he could constantly doodle on them. There was one wall not painted with the chalk paint, and on it hung a bunch of Remy’s favorite art projects, the ones he was most proud of. Over the sketching desk hung a pride flag, and there were shelves full of paint and other art supplies. Emile looked around for a long minute, his eyes finally resting on the pride flag.

“You’re gay?” Emile asked. Remy’s brain suddenly started to panic. What if Emile was homophobic? Leave it to Remy to fall in love with that guy. He mumbled a yeah and was surprised to see Emile practically jump in excitement.

“I’m gay too! What are the odds? This is so cool!” Remy let out a silent sigh of relief, allowing himself to relax.

“So, what did you want me to teach you?” Remy asked. Emile thought for a moment.

“Maybe we can work on a simple painting project? I think that might be easy.”

Remy laughed. “Painting isn’t as easy as people lead you to believe but sure! That sounds like fun!” He got out two easels and his favorite acrylics, setting everything up for Emile and answering any of Emile’s questions as he went along.

Painting with Emile Pacani was probably the most fun Remy had ever had in a long time. The two laughed and joked, swapping different colors every once and a while. Remy had suggested that they started with something easy and Emile said that painting a butterfly sounded easy, so there they were, two butterflies on canvas. Finally, after they both had decided that they were finished, they stepped back to admire their work.

“Your butterfly is actually really good,” Remy noted. “You have an amazing eye for colors, it looks beautiful.”

“My butterfly looks like a sad little moth compared to yours,” Emile said, earning a laugh from Remy.

“Hey, don’t hate on moths. Mothman is my one true love,” Remy joked. As Remy cleaned up some of the paints, out of the corner of his eyes, he could see Emile go over to the desk and stare up at the pride flag.

“You okay?” Remy asked, putting the easels back in their place in the corner of the shed.

“I’m fine, just thinking.” Emile turned to face Remy. Remy noticed that a bit of paint had managed to find a home on Emile’s face.

“You have some paint on your cheek,” Remy said, fighting the urge to reach up and wipe it away. Emile rubbed his cheek. “No, the other cheek.”

“Could you wipe it off for me? I don’t want to miss it,” Emile said. Remy nodded and ran a towel over the paint. He was acutely aware of how close he was standing to Emile. He ran the towel over the cheek a second time, just in case he had missed some paint the first time, totally not because he didn’t want to move.

Even though he was less than a foot away from Emile, he could barely make out what Emile was saying. Emile was barely speaking, just breathing out the words. “I really want to kiss you right now.”

Neither one of them remember who initiated the kiss, just that they kissed, and it felt like magic. Remy held Emile’s face, he could feel Emile snake his arm around Remy’s waist and pull him closer. They stood there, kissing desperately, for what felt like the longest minute ever. When they broke away, Remy tried to pout from the lack of lips against his, but he couldn’t because he was too busy smiling like an idiot.

“Remy, you’re very attractive,” Emile whispered, more audible this time but now his voice sounded slightly hoarse, probably from all the kissing.

“I’ve been wanting to kiss you for a while now,” Remy admitted.

Emile’s lips quirked into a mischievous smile as he pulled Remy close once again and they kissed, another long and breathless kiss. Remy felt like he had forgotten how to think, and that was fine.

Finally, Emile let go of Remy, stepping back. Remy’s lips were slightly swollen, his hair messed up. Emile’s glasses hung crooked on his face.

“I have to get going, I promised my mother I’d be home in time for dinner. Maybe tomorrow I can come back and you can teach me something new?” Emile asked, grabbing his stuff. Remy smiled.

“I’d love that.”
